Newest HackShield isn't working again. Errors with code 0x00000108, which
there's no real information on what it means, just that it's caused by some
anti-virus that I obviously don't have since I'm running it in Wine.
This is used in the mmorpg Mabinogi, in my case.

I tried to install StarTopia. (Really like the game.) But when I try this the
destination folder remains fixed of c:\windows. Though the setup allows me to
change it. When I arrive at the summary it is still c:\windows. Clicking back
and changing it again doesn't fix it either. When I try to install the game
with those settings I get a 0x8002000E error and the installer quicks. Nothing
is actually copied.
Tried both when emulating win2000 and winxp. Used a clean wine folder freshly
created with winecfg.

In the game Star Trek Online holding down on the W A S D keys is interpreted as
a double strike of the keys.
The intended action is the key should be held down and the character or ship
should move in the indicated direction smoothly. Instead the game thinks the
key is being pressed twice in quick succession causing an alternative action.
This is causing the characters to either roll or stutter in the direction
wanted breaking smooth game play.
The issue can be intermittent but happens the majority of the time and the
current work around is to navigate around the game by holding down both mouse
buttons.
I should note I do not currently have a subscription to this game but many
users are reporting this fault so a bug needs to be created. Hopefully these
users will fill in any required information. In the standard console output
there are no errors or warnings in relation this this bug.

The installer file of IMatch creates a Start Menu entry when running in Windows

Summary: Volume names and serial numbers not right on .iso

Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.41
Platform: x86

Mentioned here:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=149
When installing by mounting disc 1's iso loopback,
starting the installer, then unmounting and mounting disc 2's iso loopback,
Starcraft fails to notice the disc change, and keeps prompting for disc 2.
This happens even though the second disc really is mounted properly.
+relay etc. shows that the installer is doing "dir d:" itself using cmd!
Presumably it's parsing the output, and not liking something it finds.
The first two lines of diff between dir with a real disc and an iso are
-Volume in drive D is SCDisc2
-Volume Serial Number is A351-A0F2
+Volume in drive I is
+Volume Serial Number is 0000-0000
Shouldn't these be correct even though it's a loopback mounted iso? The
volume name is in the .iso, after all.
You can try to change these in winecfg, but nothing happens.
Dunno if that's what it's unhappy about, but it seems not unlikely...

Crash log (Autodesk Inventor 2010)
Autodesk Inventor Professional 2010 crashes during setup. May be this bug
depends of gdiplus Wine component, because install native gdiplus from
winetricks, solve this problem.
I use prepackaged binary Wine from official OpenSuSe repository and clean Wine
directory without any dll override.

Wine is spamming this message to me while running Halo 1. The problem seems to
be that glPointSize is being passed 0, which according to the documentation
(http://www.opengl.org/sdk/docs/man/xhtml/glPointSize.xml) is invalid. It is
pretty easy to see from the definition of state_pscale that the value which is
passed to glPointSize (pointSize.f) is not even touched if
stateblock->renderState[WINED3DRS_POINTSCALEENABLE] is not true.

In Wine 1.1.24, Call Of Duty 4 has absolutely no graphical glitches, once Depth
of Field and Glow are disabled.
But since Wine 1.1.25, often there are glitches where post-processing seems to
be temporarily disabled for a few milliseconds, regularly. This results in
quick flashes and it makes it nearly impossible to play certain missions
(especially President Fulani-something cinematic, near the beginning).
Sometimes, the graphic post-processing is blur and again it flickers between a
blurred and a non-blurred image. Sometimes also the post-processing disabling
stick, and it only disappears when getting back to the menu (Esc) and back
again to the game (Esc again).

Because I have a dual core processor and it says everywhere that it's not going
to work and so I thought I should use schedtool and save myself the trouble.
Jeez, I'm not just doing it to irritate you.

Well I didn't encounter the problem myself, running in a clean prefix, win98
setting.
How long should I be waiting?
I don't believe I managed to set schedtool in a way which would have had an
effect :P
I did get the same/similar error as comment #14 but wine only seemed to hang
briefly on installation with it

Please only post if you are confirming the status of a bug as still present or
it has been fixed. This isn't a help forum.
Visit http://forum.winehq.org or your distro's.
schedtool is not part of wine and does not know anything about prefixes.

I do not know if this is helpful or not, but considering there was no wine
hacks involved (though a 3rd party program for launching StarCraft) I thought
I'd share:
When starting StarCraft: Brood War in windowed mode (can be achieved by
downloading the ICCUP Launcher, and checking "windowed mode") the whole
Battle.net graphical interface is displayed correctly.
Cheers,

Good question :-)
I developed polygon/line stuff in a hurry, I checked it to some extents but not
too deeply. Usually you don't notice such problems, but sometimes they appear.
I'm too busy now to resume winedib development, besides trying to keep it in
sync with wine... if you want to look at the right way and submit some changes,
I'll be quite happy!

regression testing indicating the first bad commit
Wine 1.1.38 and later cause VB6 applications to crash and behave unexpectedly
in various circumstances.
iiUsage (free download from http://martybugs.net/iiUsage/) works fine on Wine
1.1.36 and earlier, but crashes when attempting to display the main form on
Wine 1.1.38 and later.
Regression testing indicates the first bad commit is
oleaut32: Realize the font in getter functions.
cf602ca4228f954d7de3b8100cea8fad680ed7f2
To reproduce:
-follow steps on http://martybugs.net/iiUsage/wine.cgi to install iiUsage
-when iiUsage is first run, it'll crash when it attempts to load the main
form
As another example, attempting to set the .TabVisible(n) = false for a tabbed
dialog control (tabctl32.ocx) in a VB6 application works fine in Wine 1.1.36
and earlier, but in Wine 1.1.38 and later, it results in the following runtime
error:
[451] Property let procedure not defined and property get procedure did not
return an object
Similarly, attempting to set the column width of an msflxgrd.ocx column to 0
results in the same runtime error.
The workaround is to copy oleaut32.dll from a WinXP box into
.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/, register it, and then use winecfg to use the
native oleaut32 library instead of the built-in library.

Summary: VENDOR_WINE vs VENDOR_ATI with xf86-video-ati
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2

I seem to have discovered a strange "problem" with wine and the open source
radeon driver (xf86-video-ati) on my HD4870.
I installed 3dmark2001SE in a clean wineprefix and ran the benchmark.
When the application launched i saw the following message on the console:
fixme:d3d_caps:wined3d_guess_vendor Received unrecognized GL_VENDOR "Advanced
Micro Devices, Inc.". Returning VENDOR_WINE.
During the lobby demo, the people were invisible. You could see their guns,
bullets, sunglasses, etc.. but the actual people were not there.
I went into dlls/wined3d/directx.c and hard coded VENDOR_MESA in
wined3d_guess_vendor(), and ran 3dmark2001se again, but got the same result.
Went back, and hard coded VENDOR_ATI, and ran the benchmark again, and now it
was perfect. All the models in the lobby demo are now visible.
I'm just a n00b here, so please dont get aggravated if I'm mistaken. I see two
problems here:
1. Wine does not recognise the GL_VENDOR string of ATi cards when using the
"radeon" (xf86-video-ati) open source driver.
2. There are rules that are being pulled in with VENDOR_ATI that potentially
should be used in VENDOR_WINE and/or in VENDOR_MESA as well.
I am using linux, drm, mesa and xf86-video-ati from git, with my HD4870 on
Ubuntu-9.10.
Here is some GL info:
GL_VERSION: 2.0 Mesa 7.8-devel
GL_VENDOR: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
GL_RENDERER: Mesa DRI R600 (RV770 9440) 20090101 TCL DRI2

In Aztaka, Wine's default mouse cursor is always visible and centered on the
screen. The game's own mouse pointer (a golden hand icon) is visible too, and
is fully functional. It seems as if Wine's mouse pointer tried to follow the
game's native cursor, but is stucked in a small rectangle. Both fullscreen and
virtual desktop mode is affected.
With the setting "MouseWarpOverride" "disable", Wine's mouse pointer can move
freely on the screen (alongside the game's native pointer).
"mmdevapi" needs to be set to "disabled" in order to get the game to run.

mouse always shows up, centered (being a FPS, the mouse should be hidden).
I was able to install the game by going to http://www.quakelive.com/,

plugin (wine msiexec /i QuakeLiveNP.msi), and played the game.
I could post a screen shot if it'd help, but it doesn't sound necessary.

I'm opening this as a new bug, even if I know it's a duplicate of at least 3
other ones!
But I do it on purpose, because I think we got a real problem here, a kind of
very underestimated one and so it can joins all reports about it in one place!
Let me explain what is it about: as the title said it, the X11 mouse pointer
shows over fullscreen window in a bunch of applications, most of them being
games (but not only)!
First I met this bug with the game "The Heat of War" I've played through with
Wine 1.1.36 and submitted in the appdb here:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=19287
I've found that there's 3 bugs already talking about, but every time about an
other application:
- Diablo II: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20362
- Geiss: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21524
- Quake Live: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17746 (that one being
closed invalid, where it doesn't really seems to be the case)
Then, I've found by the Ubuntu forums that the problem is even bigger:
- http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=925046
and some workarounds:
- Or quickly moving the cursor as the game is launched (tricky to achieve &
look stupid =;)
- Or using a WM (Fluxbox for exemple) other than Gnome, as it looked related to
in this case. (Fedora 12 x86_64 + Gnome)
It's important to say that problem NEVER EVER shows in windowed mode, but ONLY
in fullscreen!
But now that I wanted to submit Call of Duty 2 with a Platinum note on appdb,
because it was working so great (and I've finished it) on a OpenSuse 11.2
x86_64 (+ KDE4) box, I've noticed that the used Wine version (proposed by the
official repos) was an old 1.1.28!
So I updated to 1.1.41 and guess what? Every single symptom being before
described are now here: "ghost mouse" on fullscreen, not in windowed mode,
going away with quickly moving the cursor as the game is launched!
Using the alternate WM being provided with OpenSuse (IceWM) doesn't help at all
this time, the problem is also there...
Now, it even crashes some times my X session, bringing me back to KDM login
screen, what never happened before!
The only message I've found about it being:
Mar 22 13:05:06 mir kdm[1166]: X server for display :0 terminated unexpectedly
But that might be 2 different problems, so it doesn't have perhaps to be mixed
with the main problem here...
It's important to say that I've totally disabled Desktop Effects / Compiz when
playing both games, so it has nothing to do with it.
The graphic card with the first game was an integrated chipset Intel GM45, the
one for the second game a Nvidia Geforce 7600 GT, so it's not hardware / driver
related...
Gnome and KDE are affected, but not Fluxbox on Fedora 12. I've just found the
way right now to install it on OpenSuse 11.2 (as it is not in the official
repos) so I will give it a try and edit this bug later (as I've to log out).
I'm ready to still keep a while Call of Duty 2 (even if I wanted to delete it)
to provide more feedback, tests or whatever needed to help getting rid of this
bug, because I don't see as trivial or not important: it is REALLY more then
just an annoyance, it has to be eradicated and it looks like a big
regression...
So I hope it helps...

This is a follow-up to the missing pixels issue I mentioned in comment #314
It seems to me that all lines are actually drawn one pixel too short. Usually
this is not noticeable since you explicitly draw the perimeter but sometimes
the problem shows. DIBDRV_Polygon calls physDev->brushHLine to do the drawing
and the implementation of HLine draws the pixels from "start" to "end-1".
Should HLine be modified to also draw the "end" pixel? Or should Polygon be
modified to request one more pixel to be drawn?

Planescape - Torment 2 CD Setup.exe default console output when crashing
Planescape - Torment (2 CD edition) cannot be installed using the standard
installer (e.g. /media/Cd/Setup.exe) in wine 1.1.41. It works fine in 1.1.40.
The different behaviour of the installer, from 1.1.41 relative to 1.1.40:
*default install path is c:\windows vs. c:Program Files\Black Isle\Planescape -
Torment
*the start menu category name is void, vs something like Planescape Torment
*when clicking on the install button (after the start menu category selection)
an error console beep is generated, and after clicking on the install button a
few more times, the installer crashes
Since the first error message is fixme:storage:StgCreateDocfile Storage share
mode not implemented , I guess this is related to the recent modification of
ole32 in wine-1.1.41

Motocross Madness 1 texture bug
I've previously reported a regression preventing Motocross Madness (the
original one) from launching since recent revision. In that report I also
mentionned a continuing texture bug that's always been there in previous Wine
versions. I've be adviced to report it separately, so here I go :
The games launches fine, the menus are perfect (a bit slow but still usable),
but ingame all background textures are replaced by a mess of flashy colors and
dark spots. The player and his bike are entirely black. From time to time the
normal player texture shows briefly and returns to black.
I've attached a screenshot to make it easier to understand, it's also uploaded
here : http://yfrog.com/0ocaptureuvp
I'm willing to help but I don't know anything about debugging so if I can give
you helful informations please explain how with as much details as possible

That's because the "@DEPENDENCIES@" separator is no longer needed after

Wine 1.1.41 +d3d,+dsalsa,+ddraw Log
Still present in 1.1.41
I've added an updated log from a clean Wine prefix +d3d,+ddraw,+dsalsa in hopes
that it provides something useful (only D3D and DirectSound seem to be doing
anything at the point it crashes). Weirdly enough the crash seems to crash the
debugger too.
No overrides in place for this log, but it's worth noting that disabling sound
and/or using the d3dx9 libraries doesn't fix this crash.

With Xorg <=6.x Anarchy Online draws fine in windowed and fullscreen mode, with
and without Xinerama.
With Xorg 7, when running in windowed mode, if the game is launched with
Xinerama (Nvidia's Xinerama, Nvidia drivers 190.53) the game appears to be
squashed horizontally within the window (although the window is still the
correct size).
Disabling the second screen before launching the game, then re-enabling it once
it's running is a workaround.
Attached is the terminal output of launching when it goes wrong. For contrast,
see the beginning of attachment 25509 from bug 21233 for the terminal output

In VB6 apps, "" = Chr$(0) again. In fact I believe it is ending comparisons at
the null, because I have eight-character BSTRs containing nulls and they are
comparing as true when they should be comparing as false.
This is serious, as it could allow data with nulls to get through validation to
whatever the VB6 app calls.

Hi,
This game works flawlessly on wine 1.1.34, it requires winetricks mfc42, on
wine 1.1.35 the game doesn't start and on wine-1.1.36 and above the game start
but when i hover cursor over option, the game doesnt highlight option or allow
to do anything.
The error is similar to http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21075 and
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21092, but meanwhile these bugs seems to
be corrected by Henri patches, this game continues failing.
As sugested by Wylda on bug 21075 i tried this and the problem is solved!!.
1. install wine from your distro
2. use needed winetricks (if any)
3. Prepare your build environment (see wine's wiki)
4. git checkout c24e48d937cfd0000a22af555a920ea7fab71d7b
5. compile and test the game --problem should persist
(here the game fails)
6. Remove the failing commit by:
git show c24e48d937cfd0000a22af555a920ea7fab71d7b | patch -p1 -R
7. compile and test the game --problem should gone
(here the game works!)

I used to be able to skip the intro video of Lemmings Paintball either by
clicking or pressing space bar. But in 1.1.40 it freezes the game so I did a
regression test and came up with this:

I'm on ubuntu 9.04 32bit with up-to-date packages.
After upgrading to wine-1.1.40, ImgBurn stopped detecting my DVD RW drive. No
matter if I select ASPI or SPTI in options, no drive it can see, no way to burn
discs.
(the workaround was to create an iso image, then burning via brasero)
Later, I downgraded wine to 1.1.39 and now ImgBurn works again.

log of crash
The help viewer (uses Gecko) crashes the application after clicking on the
first link. This appears to be a regression. With Wine 1.1.39, the crash does
not happen. With 1.1.40, the crash is 100% repeatable. It seems to happen
with anything that uses the help viewer. I'll try to attach stdout/stderr.
This is one easy way to reproduce the problem:
Install application using the PAF5AllLangs.exe installer. Select to install
the "International Unicode Font". Deselect viewing the "Getting Started
Document."
Start the application.
Click "new" to create a new file/database.
Enter a new filename--doesn't appear to matter.
Click "cancel" twice to get to an empty family view.
Click on the yellow question mark on the right-hand side of the tool bar just
below the main menu bar.
Click on the first link, "How to move an individual to the primary ..."
Observer the application crash.

exception.
Here are the steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Download and install Hero Lab 3.2a.
2. Skip the informative dialogs, and when asked to perform updates, enter the
update window to download the Mutants & Masterminds game.
3. Import the game, and then dismiss the update window. Load the Mutants &
Masterminds game.
4. The application should hang at the "Building User Interface..." phase.
When frozen, the application has backtrace:

hi :)
It's my first entry. All I'm trying to say that I use wine-0.9.58 every day due
to problems with higher versions with Profesor Henry 5.0.
Please take a look:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=6932
a reporter said:
"When you start aplication , you have to
a) wait about 5 secounds ( black screen )
b) switch to different aplication ( ALT+TAB)
c) switch to Profesor Henry Slownictwo 3&4"
but it doesn't work with me or on higher versions of wine then 0.9.58.
The problem with a black screen has appeared since version 1.0.
As far as the Debian is concerned there's no problem as I could compile version
0.9.58. In Gentoo the developers told me that older versions won't be
supported. Additionally compiling "by hand" failed. But in my opinion it's a
bad approach to use many Wine instance at one time.
It would be kind of you to repair it so that higher versions of Wine run
Profesor Henry 5.0. :)
best regards,
Wojciech Ryrych

to reproduce it with logging, didn't happen. Few hours later, while still
logging, saw it again (twice). Log attached.
Is a +heap needed? With such a memory intensive app, it's going to be slow as

Summary: Wine creates .desktop files (instead of lnk) with
default "wine"/
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.40
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: pzinin(a)gmail.com
When I have to install program, I get .desktop files instead of windows` lnk.
But Wine incorrectly creates the desktop files. When I install the program
with NON-system version of wine, she later runs with the system version.
For example, I install my FIFA 10 with custom wine:
~/wines/1.1.20/usr/bin/wine /media/FIFA10/EASetup.exe
Wine creates desktop file with just "wine 'c:\program files\....\FIFA10.exe'".
Then, this game runs with system wine.
But when I change "wine" to "/home/pasha/wines/1.1.20/usr/bin/wine" - all works
good.
It is necessary that wine writes in ".desktop" file full path to the binary,
"/usr/bin/wine" for example, instead of just "wine"
