There is an application that crashes with the recent versions of Wine (I tested
1.2.0 and 1.0.0). The same application worked well with version 0.9.36.
I also have seen a crash with that application and the newer version that was
caused somewhere in an installed dbgrid32.dll but currently I'm unable to
reproduce that. I'll submit it as soon as I have it again.
The .wine directory was completely clean before installation, I set up
everything new for that Wine version.

Add event completion support to wineserver
wineserver's event loop can be driven by select() or by asynchronous event
mechanisms such as epoll and kqueue. wineserver currently does not support the
event completion framework (event ports) that appeared in Solaris 10, a generic
API for asynchronous I/O that supersedes /dev/poll.
This patch adds the support.

diff of non- and working .menu files
When installing programs that create Start Menu shortcuts, any *.lnk files with
an & (ampersand) in the filename will be incorrectly converted into
freedesktop/Gnome .menu files.
In the generated .menu file, a reference to a .desktop file can be created
without properly escaping the & in the .desktop file name (replace & with
&).
This was tested by installing Tribes 2 from
http://renwerx.com/dl.cgi?tribes2_gsi.exe - the contents of Start
Menu\Dynamix\Tribes2\ will not appear (except for Classic\) under Gnome 2.20
due to the malformed .menu file. Once escaped, the shortcuts appear as normal.
I presume this isn't specific to Tribes 2, but it is the only app I know of
that is subject to it.

Summary: Quicktime 7.4.5, window decoration problems
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0-rc1
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ronfischler(a)gmail.com
Quicktime 7.4.5 installs and runs using wine 1.0-rc1, assuming gdiplus.dll is
present and gdi safe mode has been activated. When switching to another virtual
desktop however, Quicktime dies and the running display window is removed. I
have to restart Quicktime to continue viewing my QTVR files. If the Quicktime
player is minimized first before switching to another virtual desktop, then
this problem does not occur. Two more problems, possibly related: when running
as a stand-alone window, the usual "minimize, maximize, and close" buttons are
not drawn at the top of the window. The normal Quicktime controls are not drawn
at the bottom of the window either, but since all the keyboard shortcuts work -
that is not such a problem. Disallowing the window manager to decorate or
control Quicktime windows made no difference. Emulating a virtual desktop made
no difference.
I am running Ubuntu 8.04 with Compiz effects activated.
The good news is that when used as a plugin to firefox, also running under
wine, it works quite well.

Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux

AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: hoehle(a)users.sourceforge.net
fixme:d3d:sampler >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_ENUM (0x500) from
glActiveTextureARB @ state.c / 2485
dlls/wined3d/state.c:sampler contains
if (GL_SUPPORT(ARB_MULTITEXTURE)) {
if (mapped_stage >= GL_LIMITS(combined_samplers)) {
return;
}
GL_EXTCALL(glActiveTextureARB(GL_TEXTURE0_ARB + mapped_stage));
checkGLcall("glActiveTextureARB");
The message is caused by an apparently incorrect use of GL_LIMITS().
GL_LIMITS(combined_samplers) seems not to be the correct test.
The spec for glActiveTexture says that the upper bound would be
"the larger of (GL_MAX_TEXTURE_COORDS - 1) and
(GL_MAX_COMBINED_TEXTURE_IMAGE_UNITS - 1)".
http://www.opengl.org/sdk/docs/man/xhtml/glActiveTexture.xml
I couldn't find the limits for glActiveTextureARB(), except for
- a Darwin MacOS X manual page
http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Darwin/Reference/Manpages/man3/glA…
- a Python page
http://pyopengl.sourceforge.net/documentation/manual/glActiveTextureARB.3G.…
- and XFree86 http://www.xfree86.org/4.2.0/glActiveTextureARB.3.html
which all say the upper bound is GL_MAX_TEXTURE_UNITS_ARB.
So it looks like the above wine code performs a check appropriate for
glActiveTexture() but not for glActiveTextureARB(). It should have been
GL_LIMITS(textures) for GL_MAX_TEXTURE_UNITS_ARB, cf.
include/wine/wined3d_gl.h:WineD3D_GL_Info and dlls/wined3d/directx.c:FillGLCaps
As a result of the incorrect check, the sampler() continues processing, instead
of returning early.
I'm using a laptop with the i810 Xorg driver.

The -extra commandline argument probably indicates which apps

fails with a different problem (no BITS service started).

Hi Eric!
Unfortunately your patches didn't work for me either.
Now I had time to sit down and check this out.
I installed the wine with your patches, the game, and I can't see my friend on
the lobby :(
This doesn't work neither with hamachi nor just a normal LAN.
Later I tried adding some routes and the numbers of IP's increased on the
network tab. Like 3x hamachi's IP. I tried different combinations, added a
gateway but no luck.
Let me know if you have any ideas about this.

here (native comctl32 doesn't help either).

Looks like this was never tested with native comctl32.
Get winetricks script with 'wget http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks',
then run './winetricks cc580'. After installation finishes try a program again,
post visible results here.

I am using Crossover Linux 8.0 and I have installed Microsoft Office 2007 - it
works like a charm, with the exception of a few quirks. I am running Ubuntu
Karmic, with KDE.
What I noticed is that office 2007 runs on only one core, making it very slow.
I noticed also that Windows Xp instead used to run on both cores.
It would greatly improve the experience if the software could use all the
computing power

That sounds about right.
Here's a debug dump from the demo version, which behaves like the real version
[0] in non-debug-mode (except for the part about the CD spinning up, of
course). The file size is 2.2 MB.
http://colinwetherbee.com/data/hae-2009120201.out.bz2
[0] That is, the program starts, the X resolution changes, and the program
crashes.

Created an attachment (id=25052)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=25052)
Output, compressed with bzip2, from running with WINEDEBUG=+relay,+seh,+tid
This is the compressed output from running hgm.exe with
WINEDEBUG=+relay,+seh,+tid.
Interestingly (at least to me), the game did not appear to start in this mode:
the CD drive did not spin up, the splash screen did not display, and the
resolution did not change, as they normally do. Is that typical?
I guess I should read about what relay, seh, and tid actually do.

Summary: WxWidgets call to wxMediaCtrl::Create() from
wxmsw28_gcc_custom.dll fails
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.33
Platform: PC
URL: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wxwindows/wxWidgets
-2.8.10.tar.bz2
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major

Component: -unknown

ReportedBy: sebi(a)berlin.com
Created an attachment (id=25043)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=25043)
Terminal Output
WxWidgets call to wxMedia::Create() from wxmsw28_gcc_custom.dll fails.
Steps to reproduce:
1. go to http://wxwidgets.org/downloads/ and download wxAll
2. Unpack the archive in your home dir (i usually use ~/svn/ for own builds,
to build wine for example):
tar -xf wxWidgets-2.8.10.tar.bz2
3. Build WxWidgets with mingw (i assume you have mingw already installed),
using the attached buildscript
4. put the freshly created DLLs into your ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32
directory:
cp ~/mingw/wx/lib/*.dll ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32
5. enter "samples/mediaplayer" in the WxWidgets source root, and build it
("make")
6. run mediaplayer.exe
7. experience crash
Console Output and Buildscript are both attached. the mediaplayer example works
as expected if natively built under Linux.
My specifications so far:
Distribution: Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala
GCC: gcc (Ubuntu 4.4.1-4ubuntu8) 4.4.1
MinGW: i586-mingw32msvc-c++ (GCC) 4.2.1-sjlj (mingw32-2)
Wine: 1.1.33
WxWidgets: 2.8

Image of a corrupted submenu.
This bug is a regression; it's been introduced in 1.1.31 or (slightly) earlier.
It's trivial: when the user displays a contextual menu containing icons and
text (generally right-clicking), the icons have a black background; as soon as
the mouse hovers over a black icon, the latter changes to the correct color.
The bug always happens; and it's been verified on:
- Ubuntu Jaunty release
- Ubuntu Karmic release
- Wine 1.1.31
- Wine 1.1.32
My system is a Dell XPS Studio 16.
Cheers!

okay, i understand that it makes some sense to disable desktop effects (compiz)

however:
in Ubuntu Jaunty, i was able to play Carmageddon2 at a very solid speed with

i am using wine packages from wine's official PPA, so i would guess that wine
version is the same, but X.org and/or compiz probably changed.
if this kind of configuration is not supported, feel free to close the bug and
i'll seek help with compiz folks. otherwise, you might want to look into it.

Summary: winetest.exe should trim too long tag names

Found this the other day while testing my build script. If winetest.exe is
called like:
$ wine winetest.exe -c -t really_long_string_name_omg_wtf_bbq
winetest exits with:
Error: tag is too long (maximum 20 characters)
It would probably be better to just warn the user and trim the tag to the first
20 characters:
http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/?a=blob;f=programs/winetest/main.c#l1…
Should be pretty simple...

Log showing the crash
First of all, I set the priority to the lowest level because running the game
from its directory don't make the game crashing.
Then, I have to say that I compiled wine yesterday (so it's the latest).
Before bad news, I want to say that the '-w' option now works perfectly (the
game stay in the window and do not go back to (0,0) px )
I don't know if I have to provide steps how to reproduce the bug as the summary
of it is (I think) enough explicit.
But don't hesitate to tell me what you need.
Thanks

Wine 1.1.33 on Xubuntu 9.04, nvidia card (with updated drivers): if I play the
game in fullscreen mode the cursor moves only to the left and to the top. After
few seconds of mouse movement the pointer is "trapped" in the upper-left corner
and I must press esc, the game is unusable.
This bug appears only in fullscreen mode and NOT in a virtual desktop.
My Fallout is patched to 1.3.

It looks like, that crackless era is coming. Wine now supports SecuROM v7.38
>From the test made with wine-1.1.33-404-gac85305 & Need for speed: Prostreet
* test run without DVD in drive -> message "No disc inserted."
* test run with burned DVD+R DL in drive -> message "insert the original"
* test run with orig DVD in drive -> Game runs.
So exactly the same behavior like in WinXP and as the subject states "Get
SecuROM copy-protection working" and we got it, you can consider marking FIXED

I cannot reproduce this bug when running on a single core (disabled second core
with "echo 0 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/online").
When running on two cores, Counter-Strike randomly freezes, disabling keyboard
and mouse input (display totally freezes too). The freezed state can be
recovered by killing the process (hl.exe) from SSH.
The last line after the freeze is:
err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x7e4e3640 "x11drv_main.c:

Tested in wine-1.1.33-404-gac85305, Word 2003 Pro.
The error message mentioned in comment #5 is gone, and Wine now opens the full
Equation Editor in a separate window when you select Insert=>Object=>Microsoft
Equation 3.0.
The problem is, this is not the way it works in Windows (tested in XP). In
Windows, selecting the Microsoft Equation 3.0 inserts a box in the original
document, and opens the Equation Editor toolbar. You can then enter the
equations directly in the box in the document, and when you close the toolbar,
the equation is still displayed in the document.
In Wine, because the Equation Editor opens as separate app, equations are
entered in the Equation Editor window, and they do not get inserted in the
original document.

I'm looking very much forward to any help

Spoke to soon, the patch allows the device to be recognized by the program but

It doesn't crash for me, but I get no text in the "Sub-Pixel Font" rich text

EM_FORMATRANGE isn't implemented.
Alexandre recently committed my patch that prevents the crash to git. Let's

Winemenubuilder generates an association of the form:

but when the user double-clicks on a .doc file containing spaces anywhere in
the path, MS Word stops parsing the filename at the first space.
Start.exe probably needs to quote the filename somehow.

Wine 1.0.1 seems to have an issue with a pilot being in a pod. If you leave a
ship in order to go to another station to pick up a new ship, or if you get
podded during combat, the client will crash to desktop.
I use Ubuntu 9.04(64bit) and was using Wine 1.0.1. I have found another post
on another forum from someone that this is happening to as well. The responses
derided him/her for using 'older' software and recommended an 'upgrade' to the
'current' beta-development version. The user responded back that this fixed
their issue.
Unloading 1.0.1 and installing the current version (now 1.1.33) also fixed the
issue for me.

run winecfg
When I click on the Drives tab, a popup message says:
"You dont have a drive C. This is not so great."
"Remember to click 'Add' in the Drives tab to create one!"
At the same time, this message appears in the terminal:
"err:winecfg:open_mountmgr failed to open mount manager err 2"
When I click Add it adds the mapping ../drive_c to the letter C:.
When I click Apply, the message again appears in the terminal:
"err:winecfg:open_mountmgr failed to open mount manager err 2"
The next time I run winecfg, all of the above happens again from the START!

Terminal Output
Hi, I can't play User Tracks in GTA San Andreas.
I've created a symbolic link to use my Tracks from my Windows Partition:
ln -s /home/ /home/nil/.wine/dosdevices/o:
Then, i've started GTA San Andreas as usual:
wine /media/wdisk/games/GTA\ San\ Andreas/gta_sa.exe
... Then, i've searched for the newly added tracks in the Options/Audio Menu.
And that's the Point where GTA just... hangs, for the lack of better words.
I had to kill the wineserver in order to get back to my Desktop (i think that
is also responsible for the Segmentation fault in the log).
Terminal Output is attached.

I believe, since msiexec is hidden under $PREFIX/lib/wine/msiexec.exe.so and
can only be run via "wine msiexec /i installer.msi" (which is at best very
tiresome), it would be much more convenient just to automatically call MSI
installer if wine itself is called with .MSI package as the only argument.

Bug is still here in wine 1.1.33
Even though 'combat speed' is set the highest, enemies move really slow. While
the enemies are moving, the cursor (displaying a clock) flickers and is
stationary even if mouse is moved; after the enemy's turn the movement is
executed instantly.
While it is the player's turn the cursor moves with the mouse, though.
I guess the game is playable, but not very enjoyable because of this. Please,
somebody fix this...

Everything else with the game seems to work completely fine (Steam Version).

Hi, i'm currently working on broken Mirror's Edge. It was broken somewhere
between 1.1.29 and 1.1.30 and is still broken in current git.
Git bisect gave me all bad, which means something is not right. So i did:
git bisect reset
git reset --hard origin
git checkout wine-1.1.29
make distclean
export CC="gcc" CFLAGS="-g -O0"
./configure --with-opengl --verbose --disable-tests
make depend
make -j 16
and Mirror's Edge is still broken.
But when i do on same maschine:
wget http://ibiblio.org/pub/linux/system/emulators/wine/wine-1.1.29.tar.bz2
make distclean
export CC="gcc" CFLAGS="-g -O0"
./configure --with-opengl --verbose --disable-tests
make depend
make -j 16
Mirror's Edge is OK.
Isn't there something bad in wine's git Makefile etc?

Nicely, firefox for windows provides its own text/html data, and native Linux
programs don't like it any better. It's a wide-character string without a BOM.

We map the windows "HTML Format" clipboard format to the native "text/html"
even though they're different formats. See
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms649015%28VS.85%29.aspx
The "HTML Format" has metadata and context, while "text/html" is only a
fragment.
Even if we extracted only the fragment from "HTML Format", we couldn't make a
generally correct conversion because the HTML may contain Windows paths.

Single Joystick device with 8 axis, and 32 Buttons. Not Four Joysticks. Now the

it uses standard Linux HID Device drivers.
Wine seems to recognize all the buttons, but only the first set of Axis' work.

P.S. - what's best 'search' method for id'ing if something is already reported?
I'm grabbing what I think are interesting snippets from console, and pasting
into bugzilla - search. So far, haven't seen any 'exact' matches. Other -
better way to do this??? (I'm a linux/wine newbie...) And are there other
debug info, or command line args that would help?

Great, so this bug seems to be fixed as it was about crashing when trying to
take off. You should file a new one for the exit problem. One bug per bug
report.
Marking fixed.

The problem is still present as of wine 1.1.31 but now seems partially fixed.
This time I ran Apprentice with the show desktop option enabled and I only get
one window in the window manager, not two as before.
In addition, resizing the Apprentice window also resized the chat window.
However the focus option is still being ignored. You can go to Apprentice menu
and select the option to make the chat window be on top, but when you click the
play area it's still put behind the main one.

Wow, thank you. This may prove to be quite useful, considering the Wine dev's
reluctance to include any workarounds, even when a real fix is months/years
away (and it wouldn't interfere with anything unless activated) :)

still starts though. However this was not the case with Wine v1.0.1

In Warhammer 40k : Dark Crusade (and also confirmed at Dawn Of war - they're
using the same engine. So I believe the bug is applied to Winter Assault and
Soulstorm as well). The first pixel line doesn't render correctly resulting not
being able to read it easy especially in high resolutions.
