Wintab32 log , 3 random strokes, the first one appeared normal.
Pressure sensitive strokes begin at full pressure and immediately drop to
normal pressure levels. This makes a large blob at the beginning of each stroke
when pressure controls size.
Clicking the mouse while hovering the stylus creates a very similar, almost
identical effect. Perhaps the pen tip registers as a mouse click too.
Also, the first stroke after launching the program is sometimes normal.
Tried with 2 different tablets, same results. Wintab debug shows normal
pressure levels.

When Asha tear map is revealed it is not really shown. Instead the currently

screen. Needless to say this makes finding Asha tear nearly impossible. Wine
output is attached (saying a lot about GL_INVALID_OPERATION)

No HUD in DirectX 9 mode, frequent crashes on DirectX 8 mode on Half Life 2
Episode 2 (it isn't meant to run in DirectX 8 mode so probably not a wine bug
but also not a usable workaround), also other programs of the same source
generation (Team fortress 2 and Portal).
It appears to be linked to Nvidia driver version (version 180 supposedly works
http://appdb.winehq.org/commentview.php?iAppId=2095&iVersionId=9421&iThread…)
but it is impossible to verify as my Linux kernel (2.6.31-16-generic Ubuntu
9.10 ) only supports 185 drivers and newer (except for the old 173 driver)
which are all affected versions.
I have tried drivers from 173, 185, 190, 195 and the 1.1.26 version of wine
with a platinum rating, they are all affected.

graphics, gameplay, mouse,etc.
I then decided to upgrade my motherboard to let me OC my CPU to achieve more
frame rates when playing multiplayer and decided to reinstall everything from
fresh....
I noticed that wine was updated to 1.1.35 and installed it...
After install game, when i lunched it i noticed right away that the mouse
cursor format didn't changed like used to do with 1.1.34....and then i noticed
the mouse could work to select the game options !
I can move around the mouse cursor but when trying to click in any of the game
settings options nothing happens !!!
I can however use the keyboard to select the options....
So, i decided to start a singleplayer game....the mouse cursor doesn't hide and
i can't use the mouse to move my point of view like i sed to do in 1.1.35 !!!
Then i launched multiplayer and same things happen....

Civilization IV Beyond the Sword crashes after the initial splash screen is
displayed.
It is a regression from 1.1.33, which was working very well.
After the splash screen disappears and the main game window is drawn (just the
borders, actually, not the content), the game crashes with the the wine crashed
application dialog:
"The program Civ4BeyondSword.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Attached is the console output after the crash.
I am using msxml3.dll and msxml3r.dll as native (otherwise the splash screen
won't even load).

Sound doesn't work in TMNF. Instead, you get extremely loud crackling and
popping noises. "Hardware Acceleration" setting in winecfg (Emulation/Full)
makes no difference whatsoever.
May or may not be a regression; it's suspicious that this wasn't noticed by
other reporters earlier, but still present in 1.1.29 which there's reports
against. Maybe the game changed?

--- Comment #59 from Zdeněk Kopřivík <zdenek.koprivik(a)post.cz> 2009-05-15 03:57:01 ---
Why is this bug not marked as a regression because it used to work with older
versions of Wine?
--- Comment #60 from Saulius K. <saulius2(a)gmail.com> 2009-05-15 04:36:07 ---
Zdeněk, it's probably because no one could report the exact version of Wine.
--- Comment #61 from Saulius K. <saulius2(a)gmail.com> 2009-05-15 04:51:05 ---
I meant the version which works OK in this regard.
--- Comment #62 from James McKenzie <jjmckenzie51(a)earthlink.net> 2009-05-24 22:26:42 ---
Reference fix for problem. It was a patched version of Wine 1.1.10. The patch
may or may not still work with later releases of Wine.
--- Comment #63 from James McKenzie <jjmckenzie51(a)earthlink.net> 2009-05-24 22:30:57 ---
This code appears in several bugs. I don't have the ability to combine them
all into one bug report:
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_CreateSwapChain The app requests more than one
back buffer, this can't be supported properly. Please configure the application
to use double buffering(=1 back buffer) if possible
I just updated a different bug with this phrase in it for dOOm.
--- Comment #64 from Ken Sharp <kennybobs(a)o2.co.uk> 2009-08-10 19:39:49 ---
There is very little useful information here thanks to all the pointless noise,
so it's hard to see what the problem is.
This looks and sounds a lot like Bug 1347.
--- Comment #65 from Saulius K. <saulius2(a)gmail.com> 2009-12-18 15:01:31 ---

EnumRfc1766_create is supposed to return HRESULT values, but returns FALSE in
one case (dlls/mlang/mlang.c:2517) - this should be changed to S_FALSE I guess.
On the other hand the return values of the function are evaluated with the
FAILED macro (see mlang.c:1250) and S_FALSE does not count as failed - so
probably both unsuccessful returns (lines 2504 and 2517) should be E_FAIL?

This started with 1.1.34. When loading any save (or starting a new game),
Oblivion almost immediately crashes during the loading screen.
The crash log indicates the native d3dx9_27.dll (copied from Oblivion DVD as
per the Oblivion 1.2 article) as the culprit. Switching to builtin allows the
game to run normally, but NPCs' and the player's skin render as solid black.
Additionally, the player's equipment is ridiculously bright.

they can't be run in any way. For Minitab 15.1 an error window from HASP

when I set the resolution of Gothic III to 1280x800 (my monitors maximum
resolution) there is a stripe at the right part of the screen that is not
updated. This does not occur in 1024x786 resolution.
Attached is the output of wine.
Note: Gothic 3 requires two helper dlls to start: d3dx9_36.dll and
D3DX9_40.dll.
Also note that the menus like inventory are drawn fine in the right stripe. But
just the background is not updated (also when a menu is opened). I will attach

Summary: WinARM make crashes
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: mlg7(a)yandex.ru
Due to some mysterious problem with ARM GCC, mismatch in the FP settings that
nobody never specified, I cannot use Linux native arm-elf-gcc.
I found that the WinARM version works under Windows, and therefore,
as almost the last resort (the last one is to use Windows),
tried to compile under Wine. It failed.
The error message looks as:
make: Interrupt/Exception caught (code = 0xc0000005, addr = 0xf7d3f54a)
Importance: Wine was the last workaround I could think out;
I will switch to Windows for development.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Get WinARM-20060606. It is available in a number of places, google gives:
http://winarm.alexthegeek.com/WinARM-20060606.ziphttp://www.siwawi.arubi.uni-kl.de/avr_projects/arm_projects/WinARM-20060606…
Unpack it as C:\WinARM.
2. Get the project: go to olimex.com and find the STR-H711 board page,
get the OpenOCD-projects100.zip archive with the projects.
http://www.olimex.com/dev/str-h711.htmlhttp://www.olimex.com/dev/soft/arm/OpenOCD-projects100.zip
It includes a number of projects, we need str_711 from it.
Unpack it as C:\workarm\str_711.
3. Run the tools.
3a)
wineconsole cmd
3b)
Z:\home\mg>set path=C:\WinARM\bin;C:\WinARM\utils\bin;%path%
Z:\home\mg>path
PATH=C:\WinARM\bin;C:\WinARM\utils\bin;C:\windows\system32;C:\windows
3c)
Z:\home\mg>c:
C:\>cd workarm/str_711
C:\workarm\str_711>
Now you can run `make clean` or manually clean it and run `make`
3d)
C:\workarm\str_711>make clean
-------- begin (mode: ROM_RUN) --------
Cleaning project:
rm -f main.out
make: Interrupt/Exception caught (code = 0xc0000005, addr = 0xf7d3f54a)
C:\workarm\str_711>

Test project (VS2005) of a simple RPC client/server to repro the problem
Rpc clients that specify variables or the return value as a comm_status or
fault_status variable normally do not guard their RPC call with a SEH
try-except clause. After all, using comm_status or fault_status variables is
usually done, because with these variables, SEH try-except can be omitted, as
any exception from the client side or server side part of the call is
transformed into an error value that is assigned to the comm or fault status
variable. However, the current implementation of NdrClientCall2 unconditionally
raises exceptions, which an RPC client using comm_status and fault_status
variables is not prepared or expected to handle. As a result, such RPC clients
crash immediately if any error occurs during the course of an RPC call. Find
attached a VS2005 project of a simple RPC client and server that can call a
variety of RPCs with different comm and fault status behaviour on client and
server side, that can be used to reproduce the problem. Start the server using
rpcsrv.exe portnumber
Start the client interactively and choose the RPC variant of choice.

Summary: Issues with maps and character portrait in Morrowind
Product: Wine
Version: CVS/GIT
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: mattemod(a)gmail.com
The patch attached to bug 9775 fixed some issues with Morrowind: the character
portrait (in inventory) is now shown and maps work correctly... but not always.
___With OffscreenRenderingMode="pbuffers"___
Maps work correctly but the character in inventory in upside-down and there's a
red line above it.
It also prints some FIXMEs on the shell when you load a game from a different
location or when you load games saved in outside areas. Also, it doesn't print
those FIXMEs when you load for the first time (in main menu). Here they are:
fixme:d3d_surface:IWineD3DSurfaceImpl_PreLoad >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_ENUM
(0x500) from glGenTextures @ surface.c / 513
fixme:d3d_surface:IWineD3DSurfaceImpl_PreLoad >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_ENUM
(0x500) from glBindTexture @ surface.c / 517
fixme:d3d_surface:surface_allocate_surface >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_ENUM
(0x500) from glTexImage2D @ surface.c / 340
fixme:d3d_surface:read_from_framebuffer_texture >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
GL_INVALID_ENUM (0x500) from glCopyTexSubImage2D @ surface.c / 936
Adding
checkGLcall("glEnable");
in 'dlls/wined3d/surface.c' at line 509 (after the glEnable() call) the first
FIXME changes with this:
fixme:d3d_surface:IWineD3DSurfaceImpl_PreLoad >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_ENUM
(0x500) from glEnable @ surface.c / 510
___With OffscreenRenderingMode="fbo"___
The FIXMEs aren't printed at all, the character in inventory is not upside-down
and there's no red line: it works correctly :)
BUT the local map doesn't work at all for me: it's all dark, apart some very
little parts which fade from clear to dark. I'm referring to the local map that
appears right-clicking the mouse, not the one in the bottom-right corner of the
screen.
If I'm not wrong, there's only one "faded part" for each area (you can better
see it going outside and scrolling the local map).

So it's likely a gecko error. Thanks for fixing. That would get many apps

Summary: gnome-panel reappears in full screen mode with compiz
after resolution change
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.29
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: rockorequin(a)hotmail.com
When I run Warcraft 3 in fullscreen mode, wine initially hides the gnome-panel
as expected when it changes to fullscreen mode.
Wine then changes the screen resolution to 1280x1024 because WC3 doesn't
support the native resolution. If compiz is enabled, the gnome-panel reappears
and remains behind.
If I manually change the screen resolution to 1280x1024 with xrandr and then
run WC3, the gnome-panel remains hidden as expected.
System details: Ubuntu 9.04 with 2.6.31-rc9 amd64 kernel, nvidia 192.32, wine
1.1.29, RandR 1.3, compiz 1:0.8.2-0ubuntu8.1.

Well, no. The patch attached to this bug only blends the vertices before
passing them to the hardware, it doesn't touch things like lighting or texcoord
generation. Implementing it in hardware means generating shaders to replace
fixed function vertex processing based on the various D3D device states, like
e.g. enabled lights, material settings, etc., and then adding vertex blending
support to that. The last part of adding vertex blending to those shaders is
about the same amount of work as the software implementation, but the first
part of building the infrastructure is a lot of work (although Stefan's
patchset already implements most of that).

this might just be my ignorance, but aren't those "processes" being followed in
the software rendering? I mean all one should need is a good understanding of
OpenGL I should think.
But I guess it's still a bit cumbersome work... scheduling the tasks and that.
(on a side; if can be done in OpenGL, with the same end result, why the need to
know how it's done in D3D other that how it's invoked?)

In principle not terribly hard, but it's a large amount of work. You'd need to
be pretty familiar with how fixed function vertex processing works in D3D, and
there's a relatively large risk of introducing regressions.

Summary: Editplus syntax highlighting wrong at newline
Product: Wine
Version: CVS/GIT

Component: -unknown

To reproduce, install Editplus 3, edit a file hello.c,
and type the canonical hello world app:
#include <stdio.h>
int main(int argc, char **argv)
{
printf("Hello, world!\n");
return 0;
}
Note how the string constant is a different color.
Now move the cursor between Hello and World,
and hit the Enter key. The word world moves
to the next line and loses its color.
According to http://winehq.org/pipermail/wine-users/2008-March/030579.html
it should stay highlighted, and does on Windows.
Doing 'winetricks riched20' or 'winetricks riched30' doesn't help.

My initial tests where plain wrong.
I called LocalFree() on the Handle returned from the first EM_GETHANDLE
and then use the second handle for various API calls
(Since the same handle was returned in both EM_GETHANDLE calls,
a typical: use after free ....)
I try to rework the tests a bit this week.

Windowed mode starts fine here - no problem with starting.

I can confirm that this issue still exists in wine 1.1.34 on Gentoo Linux
x86_64.
Setting hl2.exe to use Win98 (via winecfg) fixes it for me.

Do you mean "it just won't work" or "XI2 solution will leave systems without
libXi-1.3 at current dinput state"? I'm incompetent here, but I don't really
believe that any way of warping will totally solve this problem somehow. Again,
I don't know for sure, but I guess that warping brings out other problems (i.e.
lithtech games spot warping making aim intermittent)

Yes, of course for both compile and runtime. However this means DIinput will

Is it possible to make optional support for xinput2? I believe that people who
are running Debian Stable can wait for stabilization.

Still not fixed in 1.1.34, it changes resolution to 640x480 and then it just
sits there. The computer doesn't respond to keyboard input anymore, except for

With Wine 1.1.34:

I can't use keybord to navigate menus after starting the game. I can navigate
over the menus using the mouse instead. If I start a race, the begin of the

The last output in terminal is:

The keyboard works, I don't have to use the mouse to navigate menus.
When a start a race, wine an error happens around the same moment, but
magically after closing the error message, I still can play, run the race,
drive the car, etc. But not everything goes ok: after the error message, the
sound start to loop (I'm using oss4 if that matters). With the sound looping I
continue to drive the car until the game close itself with no more error
messages.

reference it. The existing bug about a leak in rsaenh, 20684, doesn't
seem appropriate, as it may not cover this case.
Here's the scoop: the leak comes from
test_verify_detached_message_signature. This calls
CryptVerifyDetachedMessageSignature, with one of its arguments being a
pointer to a CRYPT_VERIFY_MESSAGE_PARA structure. This calls
CryptMsgOpenToDecode, passing as the crypto provider the provider set
in the CRYPT_VERIFY_MESSAGE_PARA structure... except that it's 0. If
it's 0, it calls CRYPT_GetDefaultProvider(), and sets an internal flag
indicating the the crypto provider shouldn't be unloaded, since it's
process-wide. There's that famous CRYPT_GetDefaultProvider again: it
can't be unloaded by crypt32, so it leaks whatever it's got, including
the last set of keys that get set into it.
-- snip --
Filing bug for reference, I'll add a suppression.

Actually I was saying that DGA mouse freezes the mouse pointer but it can still
be forcefully warped by wine, to mimic normal movement and interact with other
applications - but it disables mouse acceleration in doing so, so such behavior
is only acceptable when the active window has cooperative dinput active, in all
other situations the DGA mouse grab must be released and normal mouse movement
used.
To the user the only difference between having a cooperative dinput window
active and having a normal window active, is that mouse acceleration changes,
and there might be a very slight lag (1 refresh).
All normal application interaction would be preserved.

I did say that DGA support is necessary, I only brought up the "hidden mouse"
fallback (where warping is required and the pointer MUST be hidden) as a
possible fallback that has many undesirable side effects, I recommended against
using such a method if at all possible, because it is not robust at all.
It was only in a summary of possible solutions, and noted as having many
problems.
Where as DGA + mouse warping to mimic real movement would be at least somewhat
robust.

You are clearly not understanding what I am talking about then.
This cooperative mode using DGA would ALTER the mouse movement behavior
(because wine is really doing the movement), but not disable it, it would still
be able to interact with all normal applications even while the cooperative app
is focused - but as soon as the app is defocused it would return to normal
movement to restore expected behavior (mouse acceleration).

I look forward to seeing an XInput2 solution.
However users will continue this discussion until everyone is running xorg 7.5
- and I do not expect that to happen for years, there are still people running
debian stable and expecting wine to work.

Summary: Setting drive as Local disk in winecfg does not work

In winecfg, setting a drive as "Local disk" does not work.
For example:
- I have a drive called X:\ that resides at ~/.wine/drive_x
- ~/ is a network share that gets auto-mounted from the server when I log in
- I use winecfg to set X:\ to a "Local disk" (under the "Show Advanced"
parameters of the "Drives" tab)
- Windows applications still see X:\ as a Network share
This prevents certain applications from installing. For example, Photoshop CS2,
a Platinum-level application, refuses to install to a network share.
This can be repeated easily by trying to install the Photoshop CS2 trial onto a
drive that is hosted on a network share.
http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/photoshop/win/cs2/Photoshop_CS2_tryout.…
So far I've seen this behaviour in Wine version 1.1.28, 1.1.32 and 1.1.34. I
did not try any other versions.

Because the patch is not buggy. DInput has tests that validate this change was
correct.
What happened is this change uncovered another bug somewhere else (d3d/dsound)?
And that's where you should be concentrating.

If you so want to have DGA mouse - why don't you actually look at what it is,
how it works, and if it meats the DInput requirements? If it's freezing pointer
in place - it's automatically won't work for Wine. that mode already works just
fine. It's the non-exclusive background coop level that's needed by soo many
apps that doesn't work.
Also you seems to totally ignore what I said here numerous times - warping
mouse is out of the question period end of story. You can not make all
applications work this way. You will fix one type and break another type.
The best example are all Quake 2+ engine based games that use dinput (Half-Life
even tho based on Q2 engine doesn't use dinput at all). These games incorrectly
acquire mouse in game mode as non-exclusive background coop. If you start
warping mouse in this coop mode you'll break all programs that show system
cursor in the menu for example.
XInput2 does exactly what Wine needs and that's what Wine will use to fix this
bug no matter if you like it or not. This means you'll be getting XOrg 7.5

I once had this very strange bug with Doom3 on Windows XP (not Wine). From that
very bug I came to understand how Windows XP handles the mouse in FPS games:
It keeps track of the position of the mouse cursor but simplay doesn't display
it and reads out the movement of the mouse too.
So when I played doom, the mouse cursor was displayed. When I moved my mouse to
the right, the camera turned right. When I turn it left, the camera turned
left, etc, etc.. When the mouse hit the side of the screen, the camera kept
going in the direction I moved the mouse.
So... Mouse movement used by DirectInput and also by whatever handles the
cursor, but the cursor just isn't displayed and can't focus...
I am not an experienced programmer but this should be extremely easy to
implement correctly, in a non ugly manner...

Yes, the problem still exists. Even with newer versions.
I wonder why it is so difficult to revert a buggy patch if it is clearly
identified!
However, some people seems to not see the problem. Might it be that the problem
only occurs on window managers which have no desktop window? Might it be that
this GetDesktopWindow() give a undefined value back or something like that?
Please, please, please, please revert this buggy patch which raised this
problem!

This assumes that everyone runs the very latest and chooses their distribution
based on how recently the latest release occurred (switching distribution
according to the whims of release cycles), an inappropriate assumption in my
view.

To require XInput2 is unreasonable for the above reason, but to implement
support for it before implementing fallbacks is perfectly reasonable.

It is extremely common for any game to use DirectInput, and it is always in
cooperative mode unless the game is fullscreen.
This affects nearly all games that have a mouse-controlled view turning
behavior.
> What games use co-operative mouse, anyway? I thought co-operative mouse would
> generally be used by non-game things that want to read the mouse while
> something else is nominally in charge (VoIP software, things like that program
> with the cat chasing your mouse cursor around the screen)
I do not know of very many applications that use DirectInput, but I know of
many games, I do not need to list the many affected games as they should all be
linked to this bug already.
Here is the usage pattern in question:
1. Open a window.
2. Attach D3D context.
3. Activate DI cooperative mode.
4. Each frame, poll DI events and utilize either the current mouse position
(for a mouse-driven user interface such as in RTS and RPG games, as well as in
menus of all games) or the delta (to look around) - wine is not notified of
which information is desired.
5. The mouse pointer is hidden or shown according to the whims of the game,
Wine does not reliably know which behavior the game is using at any given
moment, and both pieces of data (position and delta) must be valid at all
times.
When operating with plain X11 input, the only data that can be obtained is the
current mouse position, and measuring deltas from this causes border problems.
When I do ports of games to Linux, I have to replace the DI cooperative mode
mechanism used in the game with two different modes of operation in X11 - show
mouse pointer and behave normally like an application, or hide pointer and warp
it back to center frequently frame to get deltas (or use DGA to get the deltas
directly without acceleration).
The problem I mentioned is that Wine may have to show the mouse pointer and
report deltas at the same time on plain X11 (no DGA, no XInput2), and to this
end it might have to draw a mouse pointer before the glXSwapBuffers occurs (in
both D3D and GL cases), however this does not help regular applications.
With DGA the mouse movement can be reliably faked based on the deltas.
I do not know if XInput2 will live up to the promises and solve this bug, I
certainly hope so and I fully support the idea of implementing an XInput2
solution first - but I still see a need to solve this bug with DGA and plain
X11 as well, for users who do not have XInput2 yet.
Note for implementors of delta reading on plain X11:
Each time a mouse move is parsed, it produces a delta from the previous
position, however if the mouse position is getting dangerously near the borders
(typically whenever it's out of the middle area of the window) a warp is needed
to re-center it, this warp produces a move as well and must be ignored - to do
this, XSendEvent is used to produce a fake mouse move event in the X11 stream,
which updates the "last known" position variables but does not produce a delta
(by checking the .send_event flag on the event these fake moves can be filtered
out, it is always True if the event is produced by XSendEvent), then when the
real mouse move from XWarpPointer comes in immediately after the fake one, it
produces no delta because the "last known" position is already the same. This
is the basic mode of operation of all Linux games that require delta movement
when DGA is not available.

got my own from Windows and Hacked it manually 'ghex2'.
Used different drivers from Nvidia, from the latest 190.x to older ones down to

I've built the kernel modules both through automatic setup and also manually.
I even ran into the "Mouse Cursor is stuck" bug, and can only run Everquest in

I'm stuck. Also downloaded and installed Cedega, Everquest won't even load..

To whom? Ubuntu's pulled Xorg 7.5 for Lucid, Fedora 12 shipped with Xorg 7.5.
Gentoo has it available, to the best of my limited knowledge. Debian only has
it in experimental, but it's pretty danged close to hitting unstable from what
I've seen.

If _I_ was writing the patch, I'd do the XInput 2 version, because it's the
least work in Wine and also cleans up the somewhat messy DInput exclusive-mode
handling, and then see if I could implement a DGA fallback usefully under the
resulting structure. If neither of those was available, I'd suggest Wine just
refuse to provide whatever mode the application is asking for.

This one sounds like a DInput/WineD3D-specific hack, which relies on certain
features ("capture mouse movement" for example), the lack of which prompted us
to focus on XInput2 in the first place. The key for spotting a hack is the
parenthetical qualification which addresses the chief use only.
What games use co-operative mouse, anyway? I thought co-operative mouse would
generally be used by non-game things that want to read the mouse while
something else is nominally in charge (VoIP software, things like that program
with the cat chasing your mouse cursor around the screen)

Summary: World of Warcraft v3.3.0 login fails with C runtime
library load error
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.34
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: ntdll
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ranguvar(a)archlinux.us
Upon login to World of Warcraft 3.3.0 (the first time worked fine, but now the
problem is reliably encountered), an error dialog appears with the following
text, and login does not occur. Previous versions of WoW appear to work fine.
"Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Wow.exe
R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contact the application's support team for more information."
The Wine output when the error is hit is as follows:
"fixme:actctx:parse_assembly_elem wrong version for assembly manifest:
8.0.50727.762 / 8.0.50727.4053
fixme:actctx:parse_manifest_buffer failed to parse manifest L"C:\\Program
Files\\World of Warcraft\\Microsoft.VC80.CRT.manifest"
fixme:actctx:parse_depend_manifests Could not find dependent assembly
L"Microsoft.VC80.CRT" (8.0.50727.762)"
This is without any Winetricks installed.
This problem appears to only exist in Wine with WoW 3.3.0 (latest version).
Others have confirmed this error on forums, etc:
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=21626505372http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=21626505378
Upon advice I found via Googling, I ran 'touch' on the named file in the World
of Warcraft directory, but this did not help.
The program continues to function, with an in-game message containing HTML code
as text advising the user to go to a Blizzard support page, but login does not
occur.
