SetThreadIdealProcess returns success since wine-1.1.26-445-g20276d0, and
GdipBitmapGetPixel has been implemented since wine-1.1.29-533-g41140a9, so the
Microsoft Dynamics GP Standard demo installer should probably be retested.

I have to correct myself. It doesn't look like the -w and -h parameters work.
Leave those off and it should launch. You might be able to chance the
resolution within the game at that point.

I had the same error on the Steam Installed version.
If you are running freedom force in Steam you should be able to work around the
issue by running in windowed mode. Just modify the launch options,in the
general tab of the games properties menu, to include something similar to the
line below.
-windowed -w 1024 -h 768
You might be able to get it working in fullscreen mode without crashing using
some of the other launch options at
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1040-JWMT-2947.
Good Luck.

Try the workarounds in http://wiki.winehq.org/256ColorMode (adapted to use

I do have exactly this issue with wine 1.1.32: Both with and without WM
integration, the game starts with a black screen and some music (I'm not sure
whether there should be video here), and after clicking, I get some grey
artefacts in one corder of the screen and an "??? Unknown Exception" message. I
do have some error message about colour depth, but it comes already before the
music starts:
err:x11settings:X11DRV_ChangeDisplaySettingsEx No matching mode found 16x16x16
@0! (desktop)
I reverted my local wine sources to wine-1.1.25 and still have the same issue,
so I wonder what was done to fix it.
I still have to find out how to set my Desktop to 16 bit colour depth (startx
requires me to use root, and even if I "su" back to my normal user in that
session things don't work, wine says it can't find a display).

I can confirm this on Ubuntu 9.10 using Wine 1.1.32. Sound working during
install
but not under game.
Running winetricks for directx9 and mfc42 and adding the following DLL
overrides as native made the sound work:
dmime
dmsynth
dmusic
dsound
dswave
l3codecx
As per mizipzor's post.

ok guys i know im new here but i may have stumbled upon a workaround for
fallout 1, i haven't checked it on fallout 2 but i will be checking that on my
lunch hour at work and if it does work on my end i will post to let you guys
know. so here is what i found: if you go into your fallout directory
"~/.wine/drive_c/fallout/" for me you find a file called ddraw.ini in which a
several setting having to do with direct draw among other things but there are
two that once i changed i can play fallout without any lag in game.
[Graphics]
;Set to 0 for 8 bit fullscreen
;Set to 1 for 8 bit windowed
;Set to 4 for dx9 fullscreen
;Set to 5 for dx9 windowed
;Mode 1 requires your desktop colour depth to be set to 32 bit
;Windowed modes incur a performance hit. (Modes 1 and 5 more so than mode 3)
;The 16 bit colour modes cause movies to display incorrect colours, and slows
down fades
;dx9 modes cause some corruption of movies, but not as bad as 16 bit colour
modes
;dx9 modes work with fallout 1, but results in movies being completely
corrupted
Mode=4 (the default setting for this is 8 bit full screen)
and
;Adjusts mouse sensitivity to some percentage of normal.
;Negative values are valid, if you want your mouse axis reversed for some
reason
MouseSensitivity=110 (the default was 80)
after doing that i was able to play just fine.
hope this helps others out there

A game by cyberlife, "Creatures 3" will install, and will prompt for a CD, it
will even (somehow) create an AOL shortcut on my Ubuntu 8.10 desktop but when I
go to actually run the game, my machine makes a sound like it's running it then
it just stops and doesn't run the game at all.
The game is a fairly old game, needing Direct X 7 to run. My best guess would
be that the version of Direct X that comes with WINE just won't run it but
being that it is so old I can't imagine why not.
I dual boot between Ubuntu and Windows XP Home, and Windows XP will run the
game just fine.

I had wine up and kicking on Mac OS X Leopard, running most of what I wanted it
to. I had installed it like I read
(http://davidbaumgold.com/tutorials/wine-mac/), and was using version 1.0.1.
Then I upgraded to Snow Leopard and tried to run Perfect World.
Whenever I tried, it said something about my clock being wrong. I tried to fix
that but couldn't (I found information about tools/wine.inf but the only
wine.inf I found wasn't anywhere near a folder called tools and neither was it
modifiable), so I decided to just uninstall MacPorts and Wine and then
reinstall it.
So I did, and I used version 1.1.32.
It didn't work (and I'll tell you what soon).
I uninstalled it again and used the .dmg file available to see if it worked.
Same error.
"The program patcher.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close."
I use the launcher.exe, which then is supposed to run the patcher.exe.
Even if I try to run the patcher.exe itself, the error is the same.
Does anybody know whatever the problem is?
Thank you =D

Since the latest update (as at 11th November 09), the desktop or menu shortcut
to the WoW launcher removes all file permissions to the 'World of Warcraft'

is unusable after that.
It is easy to reinstate the permissions using chmod, or instead use the WoW.exe
file, however.

Summary: Edit Bundle adds new app on single click, not double

OS/Version: Linux

Severity: normal

Edit Bundle adds new apps on a single click, not double click.
When adding an app bundle:
http://appdb.winehq.org/admin/editBundle.php (obviously this link won't do much
directly)
Single click adds the app to the bundle, but it states it should be a double
click.
"Application List (double click to add)"
Double click would definitely be preferred while there is no way to search the
apps (single click and typing "Google" for example, moves down to Google).
Hope that makes sense!

Hey Max!
Sorry disturbing you about this. I'm the guy testing Age Empires II through
your DIB Engine :) Long time since I last tested it, I know you've been very
busy these days. I just wanted to ask 2 things, for when you have a bit of
time:
1) Can you check on the possible colors bug mentioned in Comment #284, on the
current version of your DIB Engine? I think it may be related with the last
color bugs still remaining in Age Empires II...
2) On the next weeks, when you have a bit of time, can you check please on my
Comment #263? It may contain a possible solution for you to reproduce the mouse
lag slowdown bug on a newer computer like yours (the bug you couldn't
reproduce, remember?)
Thank you very much, best regards and gl on your work :)

1) Borland C++ 5.02 (the best ide in the 1990)
I have a directory s:\ which is mapped from \\myserver\src and its content is
all the source code C++
I can see it when I do:
wine cmd
s:
dir
but when bcw.exe (borland c++ 5.02 OK It s an old IDE but we use it) want to
compile these code, it doesn't find the file
then I copy/paste locally and then ln -s from /src which content all the codes
and then NO PROBLEM bcw compile and link and make the .exe!
It seem that an api use by some (old?) application to read/write file from
network drive would be not (yet?) implemented...
for summary
if s:\ is ln-s locally BCW find the code and compile it
if s:\ is ln-s of a samba links BCW don't find the code
the content of s:\ is STRICTLY the same (and chown/chmod also)
2) Oracle-7.3.3.2.0 (yes it is not the last oracle client ;) ) but we use it
when you choose a nt.prd who is in a network mapped drive, it can't read it
when you copy/paste locally, it work!
Thank to have read it

As an update, I continue to work on a solution to this error. I have
successfully applied the above code to Wine-1.1.7. However, a change that was
instituted at some time causes the changed fonts in e-Sword to be overwritten
with a default font code. The patch will be worked through to the current Wine
development version before presentation as a final fix for consideration by AJ.

The game Perfect world exhibits corrupted bitmap images for some icons, and
specifically the game map. Attached are some screen shots showing the
corruption.
I have run the logs extensively and nothing seems to coincide in the log with
the corruption.
I would have listed the bug as trivial, except it effects the map, which is
pretty major and makes navigating around the game tough. But it certainly
doesn't crash the game.
The bug LOOKS like some sort of image span problem, where the width of the
image is different to what wine is trying to draw. Or there is a gap between
rasters that should be skipped on each line and isn't. Leaves the images
looking torn.

This is a meta bug. It marks the lack of support, as documented by the "depends
on" bugs.
I'm afraid these are all coding bugs (and some of them of quite significant
features), and so, no, if you do not code, there is not much you can do.

Summary: X.org crash on libgl.so.1 upon exiting World of
Warcraft
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.32
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: opengl
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: vallidor(a)gangrenegang.com
Created an attachment (id=24583)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=24583)
trace output - startup to final exit
With World of Warcraft on 1.1.32 (378-g416cd48) the game starts and runs nicely
enough, but upon exiting does one of two things:
a) crashes, creating two crash dialogues and posting a backtrace in the
terminal
or b) X.org spontaneously dies.
This leads me to think there's something broken under the hood of my NVidia
driver in respect to how this new version of Wine is working with it, or
previously stubbed calls between them are resolved, exposing the problem.
Trace attached, please post if you need additional information, along with some
layman instructions on how to get at it.
The '^C' on line 39 of the attachment is me Ctrl-C'ing to induce a kill to exit
the game from the initial login screen (I didn't actually load the "game" part
of the game, just as far as the Username/Password entry screen).
In the trace provided, X.org didn't crash, but World of Warcraft did, so
something went sour either way.

the app is macromedia based, it shows the intro video then crashes..
but after a update From Ubuntu GNU/Linux 9.04 to 9.10 it stopped working,
I da not know if it is a regression in wine (never understood the instructions
on the wiki) or a bug in the OS...
anyway I attached the crashlog..

I suspect this may be a crypt32 bug. From +relay,+seh log:

0009:Call KERNEL32.GetLastError() ret=298fdf99
0009:Ret KERNEL32.GetLastError() retval=8009000a ret=298fdf99
At a certain point in the file loading process, Microsoft Money 2001 seems to
do cryptographic operations and calls CryptSetKeyParam with KP_SALT value,
which is not implemented in rsaenh's CPSetKeyParam. The bug component should
probably be revised accordingly.

I'm still seeing pretty bad corruption as of 1.1.31. When I first start the
game, everything except the leftmost 1/8 or so of the screen is corrupted by a
sort of kaleidoscope effect.
Subsequent starts of the game were somewhat better, and only showed corruption
upon scrolling or zooming. I was fiddling with -d:OpenGL at the time, but that
didn't seem to do much of anything for me. I didn't see any improvement until
I stopped.

I'm not sure what component this would be, or what causes it, but when playing
Vanguard: Saga of Heroes and turning by holding the mouse button and moving the
mouse left/right, you can only turn ~180 degrees, at which point it just stops.
You can, however, move back the other way. The total available movement is just
limited to 180 degrees w/o lifting off the mouse button.
Vanguard uses the Unreal3 engine, so the issue may be present in UT3 and other
games as well.

This error has returned for radeon when using KMS. It is reproducable when
attempting full screen mode. When attempting windowed mode one gets a similar
"Unknown Frame Buffer Mode" error.
I am not a wine programmer, but from what I have read on this problem it is
probably related to this...

Summary: Please inform us at install time about modification to
vm.mmap_min_addr

Version: 1.1.31
Platform: PC

Status: UNCONFIRMED

Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: hughperkins(a)gmail.com
Please inform us at install time about modification to vm.mmap_min_addr , and
give us the choice of not setting it to zero.
If I understand correctly, it is only needed for 16-bit programs? So, maybe at
install time, either:
1. a question like:
"Do you wish to enable support for 16-bit applications? This means we need to
modify mmap_min_addr, which is a potential security risk."
, or
2. for example, in Ubuntu packaging, we could have an optional package, like:
sudo apt-get install wine-16bit
.... which will ask the same question as in 1, and then set mmap_min_addr
For now, I have reversed the change in /etc/sysctl.d/wine.sysctl.conf , but I
would like the change to not revert every time I install a new version of
wine...

Summary: Debian/Ubuntu packages do not follow proper format for
/etc/sysctl.d
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: at(a)drinian.org
After reading about the recent security hole in the Linux kernel (cf.
http://linux.slashdot.org/story/09/11/04/0320254/), I decided to add a new
script to /etc/sysctl.d/ to set vm.mmap_min_addr to a non-zero value even
though I have Wine installed.
Problem is, the Wine package installs a file, /etc/sysctl.d/wine.sysctl.conf,
that does not have a numerical prefix in its file name. It will always execute
after all other files in the directory that have values like 10-*.conf,
30-*.conf, etc. This is explained in the file /etc/sysctl.d/README.
So, to make my new reset script run after Wine's script, I have to name it
something like zz.wine-undo.sysctl.conf.
Package maintainer should probably at minimum rename the file, if not find a
way to encourage users to make this security-lowering decision on their own
rather than making it the default. (Maybe a warning message from wine when
vm.mmap_min_addr is not zero?)

Summary: Wine only detected 4 axis.
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.31
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: cdahmedeh(a)hotmail.com
Hello,
I am currently using Wine 1.1.31 on Ubuntu Linux. I have noticed that since
1.1.27, Wine is only detecting 4 axis on my Playstation Gamepad. Versions
1.1.28 detected much more. It is possible that the new evdev joystick
implemented in Wine 1.1.28 does not detect axis with name that is (null). For
example, on my joystick, only the first four axis have names, so only four axis
are detected in games.
Let's take a look at the jstest output for my joystick :
Joystick (PLAYSTATION(R)3 Controller) has 28 axes (X, Y, Z, Rz, (null), (null),
(null), (null), (null), (null), (null), (null), (null), (null), (null), (null),
(null), (null), (null), (null), (null), (null), (null), (null), (null), (null),
(null), (null))
and 19 buttons (Trigger, ThumbBtn, ThumbBtn2, TopBtn, TopBtn2, PinkieBtn,
BaseBtn, BaseBtn2, BaseBtn3, BaseBtn4, BaseBtn5, BaseBtn6, BtnDead, BtnA, BtnB,
BtnC, BtnX, BtnY, BtnZ).
The axis remapping sounds like a good idea for games in Windows that support
few axis, however, it does not work for (null) axis name. Maybe a system that
will replace the (null) axis with numbers. Something like axis5, axis6, and so
on.
Thanks

Then why do you expect a different behaviour from Wine? This bug is invalid,
Wine can't make broken apps which don't work under Windows magically start
working.

The program, Visual Link Spanish (A 2 disc install for which I had to use the
info here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1112923 1st post to

I get the following error: Program Error. The program empezar.exe has
encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
invonveniance. Once I close that window I get the following Popup error.
Application Error: Exception EExternalException in module ntdll.dll at

I click OK, and then nothing. I am using Ubuntu 9.04. I am relatively new to
linux... if you require certain files please list simple instructions on how to
post them. As seen above from the CD install workaround, I'm not a complete
noob to terminal usage or the pc, but may ask for reiteration on occasion.

Could you perform a regression test between wine-1.1.19 and wine-1.1.20 to
identify the patch that introduced the error?

I haven't used Windows for ~ 10 years.
As far as I remember, it gives the same message.

A little bit of realism wouldn't hurt from your end.
You are clearly underestimating the efforts your repeated requests can cause.
When I've answered your question once, I expect the next action to be a
developer looking at this bug (whenever this happens), not me being asked to
reproduce it again and again and again until I'll die.
You get my point that this kind of bug handling is completely frustrating for
users?

I just tried connecting again, and again the service appears to be unavailable.
With the program only linked to from an archived web page and the service
unavailable, this can't work even on Windows. Marking invalid, though perhaps
abandoned is equally good.

Error in findstuff32 is correct but not in SetBackgroundWhite! Comment #7 gives
the hint ...
To make it short: Golf 99 relies on IDirect3D::EnumDevices to return at least
two devices for the requested Direct 3D Version 1. Wine
IDirect3DImpl_3_EnumDevices only returns Direct3D HAL and so the game cleans up
the Direct 3D environment. Nevertheless it will go on and somewhere later it
wants to access a surface that is no longer usable.
A solution could be to additionally advertise Wine RGB device for Direct3D
Versions less than 7.

I'll try to word it a bit more clearly when pinging bugs. However, keep in mind
that I and others are dealing with thousands of bugs, not every single one can

FWIW, the issue in http://bugs2.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=14612 looks like
depth buffer precision differences between the onscreen and offscreen depth
buffer. I think this might only be a problem for GF8 and later cards.

Adrian, I'm not trying to waste your time. People often forget they filed bugs,
or forget to check up on them. If there is 6 months of inactivity, I ask if
it's still a problem. It takes less than a minute to say yes or no, it's not a
huge time effort. Unfortunately, not all bugs are easy to fix, and so there is
a lack of activity. In your case, it seems that there may be an easy workaround
(setting x to 16-bit), but you've never said if that works or not. How can the
bug be fixed if you don't answer the questions asked?

The goal is to not have bugs open for issues which have been fixed.

If there is a demo then there is an opportunity for a developer to be
interested, I have fixed bugs where there has been sufficient information or a
demo, there is none here and I don't own the game. I assume it's the same for
others, no one will look when there is nothing to look at.
No one is trying to intentionally waste your time.
It's unlikely that this bug will progress until someone either guesses what
it's doing, asks you for the right trace, guesses from that or gets a hold of a
copy of it.

Summary: A MMORPG
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC

OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: icharlesdjohnstoni(a)yahoo.com
CC: icharlesdjohnstoni(a)yahoo.com
The game downloads, installs, and updates perfectly. To start the game you open
the "updater" the press start. When you press start it will update your game
and then start it. It updates perfectly, but does not start afterwards. This
game, in turn, does not work at all through wine because you cannot start it.
There are no error messages when it fails to start, it just simply does not
start.

What's the point of all this?
My impression is that no matter what I do, none of you guys will fix this bug.
Is it Austins objective to annoy me with requests to reproduce the bug until I
give up and he can close the bug?
Why isn't he a honest man and simply closes the bug citing lack of developer
interest, if the goal is to get the number of open bugs lower?
> If there was a link to a demo then it's possible you'd find someone else would
> test it instead of asking you to or maybe even investigate the problem.
If someone is working on fixing a bug I reported, I'm willing to help.
For a different bug with this game, I even once bought an additional copy and
sent it to Dan Kegel.
But I don't see the point in wasting time or money if there's no developer
interested in fixing this bug.

Confirming the bug is still present in newer Wine versions is part of reporting
the bug, lots of commits go into Wine, between the periods Austin asks to test,
usually a few months, so sometimes bugs get fixed without being specifically
investigated. Feel free to proactively post every few months with a comment
saying "still present in wine-foo.".
If there was a link to a demo then it's possible you'd find someone else would
test it instead of asking you to or maybe even investigate the problem.

For me, reporting bugs is a contribution for getting your software improved.
I do not plan to become a Wine developer, and I do understand that this bug
might not be a high priority for you.
But there's no point in someone asking me again and again and again to
reproduce this bug without him ever trying to fix the bug after I confirmed it.
Do you consider it civilised from Austin English that all he does is wasting my
time again and again and again?

Patch: Add stub for CryptGetIntendedKeyUsage
This is sufficient to prevent the crash and get the app to the login screen,
provided you install native urlmon first, and press Ctrl-C to get past the
loader deadlock.

(In reply to comment #19)
> Doesn't launch in git. No terminal output, just a silent hang.
Using a native urlmon gets past this. Following this is the
WTSRegisterSessionNotification fixme, followed by the hang waiting for the
loader:
fixme:wtsapi:WTSRegisterSessionNotification Stub 0x10038 0x00000000
err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x7bc9bb24 "loader.c:
loader_section" wait timed out in thread 001b, blocked by 0009, retrying (60
sec)
Pressing Ctrl-C leads to the unimplemented CertGetIntendedKeyUsage crash.
Fortunately a stub gets past it. I'll attach a patch for that in a sec. Since
the hang requires native urlmon to get past, I'm changing the component to
urlmon.

Dear Austin English,

time I have confirmed it.
When will you finally get your fucking ass up and fix this bug instead of only
wasting my time?
