Hi,
I tried version 1.0.1 of wine on Ubuntu 9.10 and then tried to run
SetupWizard.exe (not very original name) from Cisco for their spa9000 PBX
system.
One of the first thing I need to enter is the IP address (four fields).
I try to enter the address 192.168.1.250
After typing the initial 19 the cursor jumps to the second field and I cannot
backspace or otherwise correct the entry.
I get the following on my console when I launched the application:

This is what I got running the XP version
(http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/windowsxp2.html) under XP mode (I am using
the original CD version). This can be reproduced by starting the game in a
virtual desktop,and with 800x600 32-bit set as ingame settings. The crash
happens when pressing the exit button. The d3d7 errors are most likely the
failing graphics.
If I don't use the settings described above, I can get like 5 other different
errors. Most of them also described above.

For me with wine 1.1.32 this game does not crash. I am using a 8600GT card.
However, the menu does not appear, so the game is unplayable. There is the
backscreen image of the port but I assume that something should be on this

wonder what is the instruction that fails to set this menu.

Agreed, you'd think at least someone should have to independently confirm my
statement. I don't know what my antialiasing was set to, can't recall ever
touching that setting.
My wine is 1.1.32, though from git so may be any commit near there.

wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000024 at address 0xe0bb423

Putting in the entry entry for hl2.exe to always start as 'Win98' instead of
'WinXP' caused this problem to go away entirely using -dxlevel 81, -dxlevel 90,
and -dxlevel 95

I have applied the font fix and the G3 autosniper patch, which fixed both of
those crashes. However, it still crashes any time somebody plants the bomb
anywhere on the map. At first I thought it was just crashing randomly after a
few minutes and then realized it was only crashing on de_* maps, and only when
the bomb was planted. This is in dxlevel 90

fglrx is working fine (tested using fgl_glxgears and et:qw, ut2004 and doom 3)
Compiz is disabled.
Steam + downloading games work perfectly fine.
Upon launching HL2, TF2 or CS:S the opening videos (valve logos) play perfectly
fine - the loading screen then comes up (a blurred image with loading in the
bottom right hand corner) and wine kills itself.
Changing dx level, heapsize, sound driver produce the same error.
Setting video memory size in regedit, launching directly through commandline &
using a virtual desktop also produce the same error.
I've attached a dump from the terminal window (cs:s) + the loading screen it
freezes on (hl2).

Summary: IOCTL_SERIAL_WAIT_ON_MASK does not always return correct
answer
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.46.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: tombrus(a)gmail.com
The io_control() function with IOCTL_SERIAL_WAIT_ON_MASK in dlls/ntdll/serial.c
does not seem to always return the equivalent status as windows.
Unfortunately I only have an proprietary windows application (no source) that
shows this. It is an application called FanControl shipped with a water cooling
control unit from Innovatek (germany). The application controls the unit via an
USB FTDI serial port. The application only works if there is such a device
available. Rather difficult to reproduce on the average system :(.
The fix is to remove a few lines of code from the wait_on() function:
*events = check_events(fd, commio->evtmask,
&commio->irq_info, &commio->irq_info,
commio->mstat, commio->mstat);
if (*events) goto out_now;
where the 'if' is the essential bit. The status returned to the caller will be
zero when the check_events() returns something. This seems to confuse the
windows application. When the above lines are taken out the returned code is
always "STATUS_PENDING" and the handling through wait_for_event() will always
return the right things to my windows application.
The code mentioned above looks like a shortcut to avoid starting a workitem
with RtlQueueWorkItem(). My feeling is that this shortcut is not always valid.
I will attach a patch.

(I only use "huge" to describe images over 500K in size) Those are two

significantly enough from current that I felt updated screenshots were in

Screenshot from starting stage
Hi,
I wanted to run EURO-Fahrschule 2007, a German program which helps you learning
for your driving license.
The installation went well.
After that I tried starting it.
The starting window appeared and the little sound has been played (choppy
though, but this is not of interest for me and we can let that out) - see
screenshot one.
After that the GUI should change it's look and the program ought to ready to
use - like in screenshot two (taken from Microsoft® Windows®™ XP.)
But this never happens. Instead, the application seems to hang and use 100%
CPU, which lead me and other people to the conclusion that Wine is running into
an infinitive loop.
I tried to put a little mark in the near of where the program finished playing
the sound.
I hope that can be fixed.
Have a nice day,
-Ionic

Wacom tablet behaves like a mouse in many, but not all graphic painting
programs under wine.
Brief History: Installed Hardy Heron (On one computer, clean install, on the
other upgrade. Wine automatically upgraded itself to the latest 9.59, tablet
pressure stopped working in several programs. Haven't got it to work at all on
the clean install for those programs. Tried Wine 1.0rc3. Same. Uninstalled
Wine using "Mark for Complete Removal". Compiled from source. Same. Tried
swapping tablets between computers and reinstalling Wacom drivers. On the
upgraded system tried compiling the new 8.0 wacom drivers. This changed the
default behavior of the tablets to relative navigation, and modified the
strange output of Open Canvas 1.1, but did not fix it. Installed upgrades on
the clean install to Wine 1.0rc4.
Both tablets work normally with native Linux painting and drawing applications
in all installed versions.
Currently running Wine 1.0rc4 and Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron.
Currently tested programs:
Pixia 4.2a - does not have pressure sensitivity or recognize eraser.
Same behavior in: Pixia 3.0, Pixia 3.3, Pixia 3.5
and the new APixia (but this is not a stable release yet)
Open Canvas 1.1 - Draws upside down and and with scribbles and errors.
Open Canvas 4.5e plus demo - Behaves normally. (But the program doesn't
function the same as the 1.1 version, making it less suitable, may as well use
Gimp if trying to switch permanently.)
Artrage 2.5 trial - Behaves normally.
PaintTool SAI - does not have pressure sensitivity or recognize eraser.
Attaching logs requested by John Klehm and comment history from bug Bug#: 11846
which I believe to be closely related.

example doc file with chinese text
The Asian Phonetic Guide is used to add the English phonetic guide for each
Chinese character.
Word 2000 English version displays blank squares for simplified Chinese
characters unless richedit 3 from winetricks is used. (The ruby text thing
does not work -another bug, but without richedit3 only the Chinese sentence is
displayed in the bottom of dialog box. Instead of the individual Chinese
characters it show blank squares in the top)
How to show:
1. Install English Word 2000
2. Set Wine version to win98 (to workaround bug with setlang)
3. Run drive-c/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office/SETLANG.EXE
4. Select Simplified Chinese and ok.
5. Run Word and Open file containing chinese (attached)
6. position cursor near chinese, select Format Menu, Asian Phonetic Guide
Note: with the above and riched3, an error is displayed upon opening word, but
this can be safely dismissed.
without richedit3 installed, blank squares are displayed.. With richedit 3, the
chinese charactors are displayed.

On wine 1.1.6 Lotus Notes 6.5.5 (client) i slowing down over time, we are
talking about 2 ~ 3 hours of normal working (just reading/posting e-mails)
before it is noticeable.
There is also a huge usage of memory (3 times the usual, from 600 Mb to 1800
Mb)on the system which may be the cause of it.
This did not happen on 1.1.5.
Congrats... it's allmost like real Windows now ;-)

Summary: Battle Engine: Aquila: high terrain detail doesn't work
properly
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.6
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: S.vanDrongelen(a)students.uu.nl
Created an attachment (id=16745)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=16745)
Annotated, shortened stderr output of wine running BE:A with modified wined3d.
In Battle Engine: Aquila, high terrain detail doesn't seem to work properly.
All terrain faces seem to be changing constantly while flying or walking
through a level.
In the tutorial level, random terrain faces are (partially) dark blue
(stencil-related errors?).
In "Weathering the Storm", the beach you start at is very much like the ground
during the tutorial level: random faces are dark brown (fog or stencil-related
errors?).
In "Weathering the Storm", flying over the area of land right past the beach
will show that the texture of the terrain is completely different when viewed
from long or short distance (mipmap-related errors?).
I don't recall wether these errors also occurred on Windows; I guess they
didn't. I'm currently using the official nVidia drivers for Linux, version
173.14.12 (will try later with 177.80) for my GeForce 7600 GS, and use the
"virtual desktop" with pixel shaders disabled for Wine (otherwise, BE:A won't
run).
---
Attached is whatever wine spits out to stderr, with one difference: I replaced
the checkGLcall macro in state_fogdensity in wined3d by specialized code to
debug this error. Instead of
fixme:d3d:state_fogdensity >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_VALUE (0x501) from
glFogf(GL_FOG_DENSITY, (float) Value) @ state.c / 1220
it now always prints a message when err (in checkGLcall) equals GL_NO_ERROR
(normally a TRACE) and GL_INVALID_VALUE (normally printed like above).
>From the log, it seems all calls to state_fogdensity are alternating between
faillure (with GL_INVALID_VALUE, because 0xF0CCFACE is not really a sensible
value when you convert it to floating point numbers) and succes (with only
GL_NO_ERROR, in case the fog density is approx. 0.0052f).

When Titan Quest: Immortal Throne is launched it displays a series of logo
videos and the cinematic introduction to the game.
Clicking or pressing various keys (escape, space, enter) does not skip these
videos on wine 1.1.6.
When doing so on Windows machines available to me the skipping only works
sporadically (it takes anywhere from 1 to 5 clicks or keypresses per video, and
there are multiple videos).
Workaround: rename the Videos directory to skip these videos.

Get a +relay trace and figure out why the creation fails, or at least print the

This also affect NHL98, so what about changing subject to something more
general, like: "Old EA installer crashes when run by autorun.exe"
Just a note how to install and run EA game from this era:
If you wan to install NHL 98, can't run autorun.exe. It crashes and
probably never worked correctly. Instead run setup/english/setup.exe (I think
you have to switch to Win98 in winecfg).
After you install the game, copy missing files and directories to "drive_c/EA
Sports/NHL 98.". If you miss this step, you will get Windows message saying
"Please insert the CD". (no crack needed, just copy missing files).
Next you will need to download pe.exe ("wget http://jeffz.name/code/pe.exe").
Then run "wine pe.exe nhl98.exe" (this changes MajorSubsystemVersion version
from 4 to 3 in EXE's header).
Finally in winecfg change back to WinXP and run nhl98.exe. Enjoy!

I think it's not a samba client mis-configuration because under linux (OpenSuse
11.1) progs that write in java /C++ linux (not wine) native works impeccably on
the same samba mount directory... (EG: OpenOffice(linux), Thunderbird(linux),
that have docs to manipulate, mails to save,...)
mount -t cifs \\myserver\src /drive_wine/drive_s
ln -s /drive_wine/drive_s /wine_run/dosdevices/s:
for information, I moved /home/user/.wine to /wine_run
and ln -s /wine_run/ /home/user/.wine
which provide
- ability to cp /wine_run at start of linux from \\my_server\wine_template and
make chwon necessary... to be sure that user always use "the good wine" without
any mis-installed progs,troyans,...
- ability to cp /home/user to archive real /home without all the .wine
directory

I'm sorry to answered by the negatives because,
1) the same prog function if ln -s pointe to a local folder
and don't work if ln -s pointe to a samba mount folder
2) For testing I made this: chmod -R 0777 (beurk :-( ) as well as my local
folder than my samba mount point and the folder which is on my server.
3) Other program like Borland C++, Oracle client 7.3.3.2.0 don't work with the
same configuration (work if local and don't work if folder is 'distant' and
each time they "cannot find file", "read its containt", etc..)
4) For safety, I make 3 times the operation because i wouldn't believe that it
was possible that these functionnality don't work...
5) I have made 'bug 20445' than has been considered as duplicate of this one.
If you actually need it, I 'll try to send you a small prog that make the bug
if you want but I'll programming it from scratch. Then if you don't need it
tell me to avoid me losting time... Don't forget for testing it, you 'll need a
samba server and a samba client too.

How is that related to UNC file names? Looks like a simple misconfiguration
on your side, permissions related.

To answer, wine SEEMS to work, for example notepad can read and write mydoc.txt
I presume the problem is from open read/write close file function with
protection reading/writing by other user (API who is not used by API windows
but can be used by professionnal program to enhance speed)
EG: if (hf=open(nomfile,O_RDWR|O_BINARY|O_CREAT)==-1) return FFAILURE;
idem with flock,locking,lseek ...
This code don't work under wine (but work since 15years under win32) and if i
must chance 'myprog.exe' time to change the prog cost more than buy xp
licences... for api could be worked
and the problem remains for other progs like borland C++, oracle client
7.3.3.2.0, etc...
(we touch on one hand an iceberg of programs that could work... but unknown by
'end-users' )

Please read bug N°20489 that describe the same problem whith 2 more
applications that don't run under wine just due to this bug and say now that
just an "enhancement" problem... please re-analyse the pertinence of this bug
It is a MAJOR problem!!!
Can you tell Borland C++ and Oracle Client is not a "professionnal" program? OK
it old one but, already "today-in" use between lots of entreprise(TPE, PME,

what about faking it???
The apps fail because they are designed to require the path that they are given
to be a unc. this does not mean that they must have full support of cifs.
Instead a viable compromise would be to remap the '\\' into the name of a
normal wine drive. then users can externally use tools to map shares into the
wine drive space as needed.
The code change would consist of a path filter which does a simple string
substitution. replace '\\' with a normal/specific wine drive designation --
call it 'unc'. and then hands off to the normal path handling code.
That should be a pretty quick and simple thing to implement; simple string
substitution.
and if you wanted to go whole hog... instead of implementing cifs which I
agree is complex, you can instead, simply hand-off the requests to smbclient.
for instance there is a class in php that provides full samba functionality
(browse network neighborhood, connect to shares, browse/create directories, and
even transfer files) simply by sending commands to and parsing the string
responses from smbclient. it's not that hard to do. That way you are
leveraging the expertise of the samba group.
this would be a major win for wine.

but I can't do that for two reasons, one I'm not a windows programmer, I know
nothing a bout Uniscribe, second, that implementation won't be a trivial
isolated patch, it would be rewriting the rendering engine from scratch.
implementing Uniscribe should be simple with Harfbuzz, and please keep it in
your mind as a long term target.

I believe if the calling convention issue was still valid nothing would work or
a lot less would.
When I tested I was able to run complex applications such as Microsoft Office
and Photoshop however they were not very stable and many tests failed due to
what was apparently alignment issues. As far as I understand x86 tries take
care of misalignment automatically but results in poor performance which
negates any point of using icc.
What I suspect, and this is just a shot in the dark, is that icc is not
honouring some of our requests for structure packing. I tested every switch
(and the kitchen sink) I could throw at icc to try get alignment tests not to
fail and every time they failed in a different manner.
According to Alexandre it should be possible to write a test to verify this
without much trouble. Feel free to assign this bug to me. Mark it as
Enhancement.

First, thanks to the respond...
I'm very sad you consider this bug as under its reel opportunity..
I would know How Samba provide a solution!!!
Yes, It is possible to mount with ln -s in dosdevices
EG: mount -t cifs //myserver/myshare /wine_run/dosdevices/i:
Yes, when you use "wine cmd" and you type "i:" you see the entire directory
shared by samba
But, theprogram.exe can't open a file EG "i:\\mydoc.txt" and write in it...
It don't work please report to "20446 bug" that has been marked as DUPL of this
bug. And This work as long as windows 3.11 and OS/2!
A Solution? create a dameon that make the work but the time spend to develop
that is more expensive than buy XP licences then...
But, you tell me samba provide a solution. Then I ask you "Please give me
it"...
because i would prefer switching to linux/wine and say Good bye to Microsoft...

Most "professional programs" have nothing to do with UNC path names, this is
mostly a user visible feature, and samba provides a solution to the problem.

Don't you think this bug would be remove to the 1.2 wine version?
I think it would be nice to add this bug to the list...
I presume lots of Professional Programs (not the distibuted one but the written
by entreprise for its own use) want to have this functionnality and this bug
prevent these to move on wine...
for example,
- I Thing PME use OpenOffice already, Thunderbird also and all the open source
free program that run under windows because these program are free and the cost
of licence impact more in PME. She looks, allthe time, after alternatives
solutions and linux/wine could be The Solution but ...
- I Thing PME don't take time to report bugs because If it don't work, no time
to spend, use what it work... But look when it'll be operationnal...

Tested again on Wine version 1.1.32 the English version installs perfectly this
time and the application starts.
However it does complain about settings missing from the ini file and if you
try to create a new connection pressing on a button or a menu the application
does not do anything at all, or at least it seems not to do anything visible.
When it complains about missing settings from the ini file it does it using an
alert dialog on the form:
Remote Application Manager
The [ift] section in the c:\ICA16\APPSRV.INI does not contain a TransportDriver
or DeviceName entry. The section will be ignored

That's because I got it wrong in the comment. The correct order is:
1. Calculate levels
2. Shaping
3. Line break
4. Reorder
http://www.lingnu.com/en/programming/57-bidi-aware-programming-introduction…
got it right.

I "want" wine to implement Uniscribe (
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd374091(VS.85).aspx ), and implement
BiDi through it. As I don't call the shots on any of this. I just give my
input.

if you like can I make a version to be called on un-ordered text, but you
should grant me that your ordering function can handle shaped chars like
U+FECC ARABIC LETTER AIN MEDIAL FORM
and I'll left calling the shaping function for you because you said:

so if this is fine with you, please tell me and I'll send you a version of

The main problem with this order of doing things is that shaping may change the
width of the character, which affects the line breaking algorithm.
For (an extreme) example, try writing a long sequence of U0644 (Lam), U0627
(Alef), and U0020 (space) ("No no no no no...."). The length (in pixels) of
each word is dramatically different before and after shaping. As such, a line
break algorithm working on the unshaped paragraph will make drastically
different decisions regarding where to break the line (how many "La" fit in a
single line) whether it sees the string before or after shaping.
The only sane way of handling this is to perform the line breaking after the
shaping, when the final width of each character is known.
Yes, I know, it's a drastic change to the algorithm.

I want to move things to make things more correct, not more optimized.

That is precisely why we calculate the BiDi levels first. Actual reordering
takes place based on the BiDi levels. The actual character database is never
consulted again.

Which is why I said this does not mean it cannot go in, just that it will,
eventually, have to be replaced.

Like I said above, this is more about pixel width of the characters than it is
about the byte length of their representation.

The right thing to do is to move the BiDi implementation to Uniscribe, and
split it the way Windows does. Until we do, our implementation is going to be
partial no matter what algorithm or library we use.

I think the maintainer has Emacs hooked up to the wine-patches mailing list,
and doesn't want to change his workflow...

Wine is very careful about maintaining authorship info; changing other people's
patches and submitting them isn't liked that much.

Yes, but this isn't the kernel...
Short variable names are good, but it should be obvious what they mean.

Conformance tests are also useful as regression tests, in case someone else
breaks your code later on. Also remember that Wine doesn't try to do things
_correctly_, but to do them the same way Windows does.

I'm sure it does apply cleanly. It's just that using a CMS (like git) would
make it much easier to rebase (update) from WineHQ when the maintainer applies
patches.
PS: I can't speak/read Arabic, nor do I have any Arabic Windows programs, so I
can't really test the patch or comment on how it works (just how it looks).

Shachar! why haven't you implemented your docs ?
according to me the proper BiDi handling is :-)
- Bidi level calculations
- Line breaking
- Reodering
- Shaping
my code is very optimized, so if you just want to move things for optimization
purpose just forget it, you won't get a better performance, that would be near
impossible.
why did I made it the last step of BiDi process ?
because shaping changes the characters which would interfere the Reodering
process
for example a Reodering routine might know that U+639 is RTL but it may/may not
know that U+FECC is RTL too (many Reodering routines in many project don't
handle this case, I don't know about wine)
notes:
U+0639 ARABIC LETTER AIN
U+FECC ARABIC LETTER AIN MEDIAL FORM
and since I don't want to change any other function, I made it after Reodering.
the case where Shaping should be done before reodering is when the char length
of U+0639 is less that shaped U+FECC
but this is not the case in wine (UTF-16) so the positions calculated by your
reordering are granted to be valid as my function is 1-1.
the right thing to do is to use HarfBuzz which is in its way as a standalone
library.
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/Harfbuzz
but since this is a decision to be made in winehq, this is the only thing I can
do.

> * Please keep the spacing of your code consistent with the rest of the file (4

my patches only add lines so put the code I added into a file then call a
indent tool over it with the right arguments winehq wants, that's not a big
deal :-)
BTW: what are those argument (so that I would do this step if I send patches to
winehq in the future)
> * You don't need to include your email address in the code itself (as the Wine
Git repository tracks authorship information).
feel free to remove it (I grant you the permission, in case if your lawyer is
worried)
* Can you please use slightly more descriptive variable names than p, c, cn,
ch, jx, jcn, jpc, j, i and ix?
it's a complicated optimized algorithm, in which variables could be reused,
but since those variables are locally used within my function only they don't
worth commenting or being long (as in kernel coding style)
but don't worry here are the meanings
p-> point that moves through the text being processed
c-> current char
jcn-> should we join current with next?
jpc-> should we join previous with current?
j-> point to the some element in joins array
jx -> an element in ArabicShapingData joining data
* Is it possible to write conformance tests for this? (If so, please include
some, as the patch will be much more likely to get in.)
I'm a native speaker and it works, we ship the patched version in our distro (
ojuba linux) and we had offered several patched version in parallel to all wine
updates in fedora 11
we have not received bug reports related to this patch
(multi line editing is due to bidi and it's independent of this patch, small
fonts a config issue, and wine renders chars that supposed to be invisible like
U+2xyz)
regarding non-Arabic text, it can be proved that it will not be affected by
this patch because of if no chars in the range of ArabicShapingData, skip will
be equal to True and the second shaping loop which will do the actual shaping
will be skipped.
> * You may find it easier to manage and generate your patches with Git.
this patch only add lines that are independent of the code, I'm certain that
can be applied cleanly as-is without any extra effort.
please try it, and inform me if it did not.

With Wine 1.1.32, playing with the -useff flag enabled (aka in fixed function
mode without specular or vertex shaders of any kind) causes this bug to
resurface.
This also occurs using older hardware that can only operate in fixed function
mode (GeForce4, Radeon 7000, etc). Ironically, the game seems slower in fixed
function mode too, where it should actually be much faster without shaders.

Hi,
A big congratulation to the staff who make wine like this!
but I have a bug (very very important for me)
To understand, here is the configuration of the network concerned:
n:\ (\\my_server\home)
i:\ (\\my_server\print_drive) where all the doc generated by progs will be
copied to be printed/archived,...)
r:\ (\\myserver\template) where all the file containing doc to be generated
with some parameters (EG: name,adresse,..)
x:\ (\\my_server\bin) where all the progs.exe to be used in the office can be
found (Yes, it is possible!)
The x:\myprog.exe takes a file (eg: r:\service_offer.txt) then go to Oracle to
get (name,adresses, etc..) and generate a file to be printed saved in
(i:\docs\tobeprinted\) (a print server take the relay because lots of docs are
generated)
My company employes actually 15 employees and 20 independants and we want to
tell "goodbye" to microsoft and use wine but whitout this, it is simply NOT
possible...
It is the ONLY bug in wine that prevent us to move ...
Can you do something?
Thank you for your response...
PS: a smb mounting in linux with a ln -s in /dosdevices/ don't work: myprog.exe
can't open files even if in wine cmd "i:" is viewed and seems to work...

Adds a NULL pointer check before dumping FBO attachments
Touhou 7 and 10 segfault at startup with Intel drivers >= 2.7, 64-bit. The
reason for this is context_check_fbo_status() being passed a NULL pointer in
context->current_fbo by content_apply_fbo_state().

I don't think what this comment should prevent this patch from going in, but
better handle these things earlier than later.
The proper place for shaping to take place is before reordering, not after it.
The proper BiDi handling is:
- Bidi level calculations
- Shaping
- Line breaking
- Reordering
I know that, with the current implementation, level calculation and reordering
are done in one step, and that therefor it is a little impossible to implement
the steps as described, but this is, non the less, where we should aspire to
be.
More details at http://www.lingnu.com/en/programming.html (plug warning -
articles written by me).

A few comments about your patch (the maintainer is quite picky about the
patches that get into Wine, and it might get silently dropped):
* Please keep the spacing of your code consistent with the rest of the file (4
space indentation, spaces around binary operators, etc).
* You don't need to include your email address in the code itself (as the Wine
Git repository tracks authorship information).
* Can you please use slightly more descriptive variable names than p, c, cn,
ch, jx, jcn, jpc, j, i and ix?
* Is it possible to write conformance tests for this? (If so, please include
some, as the patch will be much more likely to get in.)
* You may find it easier to manage and generate your patches with Git.

This is not a good solution, since it will waste a LOT of CPU time running that
loop. On top of that, it will not catch fast mouse movements. It's essentially
the same as Attachment 11303, only slower since it's based on bash. And even
for 11303, Vitaliy said that it could be too slow.

Hi
I found a workaround for the mouse escape bug.
First: get xwarppointer from the internet and compile it.
Second: Change the Game Res to 1280xYYYY
Third use this script to start:
---------------------------------
#!/bin/bash
# Resolution in game : 1280xYYYY !!!!!!
cd /mnt/daten/wine/win_c/programme/Thief3/
MWINE_VERSION=wine1132 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine/thief3 mwine System/T3.exe &
while [ 1 = 1 ]
do
getX=$(./xwarppointer get | cut -d" " -f1,1)
getY=$(./xwarppointer get | cut -d" " -f2,2)
#echo $getX
if [ $getX -lt 2 ]; then
./xwarppointer abspos 1277 .
else
if [ $getX -gt 1278 ]; then
./xwarppointer abspos 3 .
fi
fi
#if [ $getY -lt 10 ]; then
# ./xwarppointer abspos . 385
# else
#if [ $getY -gt 758 ]; then
# ./xwarppointer abspos . 385
# fi
# fi
# ./System/xwarppointer abspos 700 450
done

This works for Thief 3 , Deadly Shadows

Hm, I made it crash in the same way it used to crash in pre-1.1.31, for example
with importing good HoW cleric. When i cleaned wine prefix it no more crashed,
so never mind. Cheers.

What do you mean? How do you make it crash?
I tested this with a clean wineprefix and IWD HoW version 1.42, 062714, Trials
of the Luremaster. I can import and create characters and start the game. (The
loading screen takes an extra minute for some reason.)
There's still one bug that remains (even with the native DLL's and such):
re-importing the first character (the first one created; slot doesn't matter)
makes the game hang. It doesn't crash, it just hangs. I don't know if a new bug
should be opened for that.

I thought this bug report was appropriate for this too, is this reported
somewhere else? I don't think bug #11788 is about it.

Also the disk size problem is solved in this way.

OK, I added VC6. As expected, wine works fine with that on this test.
Also, Eric is working on a fix. He gave me a patch
that helps vc2005/vc2008 with this case, but says it needs more work
before he can post it.
(See also https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=211529 for the same bug
in valgrind, which has pdb support derived from wine's.)

I have changed my distribution to PC Linux OS and the current version is

fixed. I can see the play by play text now and reports display and the game
plays. I will do more testing, but I think this bug can be closed.

Hi all!
I have a long history with trying this game under wine.
Don't even know where to start.
System: I'm using Fedora 11 x86_64 bit and Wine 1.1.29 at the moment.
The problem: Windows users can see me, I can't see them. If they click on my
game, they get timed out. I can't click on theirs since I can't see them :P
I'm SO frustrated in trying to get this thing to work that you don't know.
This is the ONLY game that I want it to work with Linux.
I just have tried everything, you name it:
1) Hacked version of wine reproduced the same problem
2) PlayonLinux reproduced the same problem
3) In The wine appdb list, I found Robert Bartle's comment on this new attached
dll file. That was sign of hope, I copied the file both to /usr/lib/wine and
/usr/lib64/wine (backuping the old one first) and no result. His comment is #89
4) In the wine forum, here they claimed it works with CNC3 Red Alert by
compiling a hack and running with LD_RELOAD.
http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=3943
I compile the hack *successfully* both in a lib64 and with the -m 32 flag. None
of them loads saying "LD_PRELOAD ignored"
All of this tries above include successfully running hamachi, setting up the
/etc/hosts correctly, adding EnableBindHack on registry and adding the
following routes:
route add -host 255.255.255.255 dev ham0
route add 5.110.192.199 gw 5.110.192.199
That's my hamachi IP. Needless to say hamachi works as well, I see them online,
they see me we can message, etc. I also set hamachis IP on CNC3 network
settings.
I even tried running this on VirtualBox but the game said the OS was too "old"
for the game.
If anyone have any idea at all, please tell me.
I'm willing to try.
Thanks in advance.

File '/home/paul/.local/share/applications/wine-extension-skp.desktop' contains
invalid MIME type 'SKP' that is missing a slash
File '/home/paul/.local/share/applications/wine-extension-skpkmz.desktop'

Let me know if a +menubuilder trace is needed or the actual .desktop files.
I'm running an up-to-date Fedora 11 (Gnome).

Summary: sockaddr_in6 wrong size; causes chromium's
net_unittests HostResolverImplTest.NumericIPv6Address
test case to fail
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.31
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Keywords: download, source, testcase
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: winsock
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
Running chromium's base_unittests.exe fails all over the place
unless it can find the source tree, but even if you put the
source tree where it wants it, it fails various tests. The
first one in the list is
HostResolverImplTest.NumericIPv6Address
which fails with
[11:71:1014/112257:84976129:FATAL:address_list.cc(76)] Check failed:
sizeof(sockaddr_in6) == info->ai_addrlen (28 vs. 24)
Here's the failing bit of the testcase, extracted into a nearly plain C
program:
#undef NDEBUG
#include <ws2tcpip.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <assert.h>
#pragma comment(lib, "ws2_32.lib")
int main(int argc, char **argv)
{
WSADATA wsaData;
int err;
struct addrinfo *ai = NULL;
struct addrinfo hints;
err = WSAStartup(MAKEWORD(2, 2), &wsaData);
assert(err == 0);
ZeroMemory( &hints, sizeof(hints) );
hints.ai_family = AF_UNSPEC;
hints.ai_socktype = SOCK_STREAM;
hints.ai_protocol = IPPROTO_TCP;
err = getaddrinfo("2001:db8::1", "10000", &hints, &ai);
assert(err == 0);
assert(ai->ai_addrlen == sizeof(struct sockaddr_in6));
freeaddrinfo(ai);
WSACleanup();
return 0;
}
Compiled on Windows, this succeeds on Windows but fails on Wine.

Because I also happen to have visual studio 2005 installed,

Summary: Warcraft 3 stats lagging very bad in-game after about

Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.30

I've been experiencing random lags and crashes in Warcraft 3. When I host the
games myself, everything works well.
Connection to host closes, causing you to be kicked. Battle.net connection is
also lost. I also experienced a few random crashes, just out of nowhere,
Warcraft III closes without a single error message.
I couldn't find any specific command line output indicating the problem, maybe
someone with more expertise can.
I was using wine from the Arch Linux repositories, version 1.1.30.
wine 1.1.29 works fine, no problems.
This might have a higher priority, as Warcraft III is pretty much seen as one
of the best running games on wine.

This is a regression from 1.1.28 to .29.
Oh joy: the Orange Box Store browser (first page up) now has scroll bars.
Alas: they're messed up!
On loading the browser seems to flicker between top and bottom of the
scrollable page, and when mousing over the scroll bars the scrollable tag
flickers from top to bottom.
Page Up / Page Down used to work, but now it looks like something is repeatedly
forcing the screen to the end of the page: can page up, but after a couple of
seconds the display is scrolled to the bottom again.

Summary: Small bug in TranslateCharsetInfo
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.28
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: gdi32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: grschneider(a)gmail.com
TranslateCharsetInfo (dlls/gdi32/font.c:2596) works on an array FONT_tci of
size 32 and may access this array with the index 32 - out of bounds.
The loops in lines 2602 and 2605 first acces the array with an incremented
index and check afterwards, this may lead to the described behaviour. The order
access then check has to be swapped in those three cases to fix this. C won't
access the arrays then because of lazy evaluation.
Example loop:
2602 while (PtrToUlong(lpSrc) != FONT_tci[index].ciACP && index <
MAXTCIINDEX) index++;
index = 31, 31 < 32 (true), 31++, FONT_tci[32].ciACP -> crash
Can't provide a patch atm, I hope this description is enough.

I noticed that starting with wine-1.1.26 the application can lo longer be

the application can be started when using the following command in a terminal:
env WINEPREFIX="/home/ronny/.wine" wine

Allows pulseaudio to use the idsdriver interface, making it almost as

concerned. Prevents the creation of separate winmm feeder threads.
