> (From update of attachment 10196 [details])
> Communication is at the USB level, not the file mount level.
Sorry, that is incorrect. Yes, TomTom HOME will load ActiveSync if that is
available, but that is to support TomTom Navigator (their Windows Mobile
product). Their own PND line, the ones running Linux communicate only via USB
Mass Storage.
The main Wine problem with HOME seems to be recognition of the device. I've
noted that the different HOME versions behave differently. Let's focus on
2.0-2.7 for the moment, the HOME 1.x releases are obsolete. But the 2.x
releases too are not all identical when it comes to spotting the device. Let me
state what I can see for HOME 2.7
The only thing that doesn't go through the file system is retrieving the USB
descriptors (In particular vendor 1390, and serial number). TomTom doesn't use
the USB product field; all devices are 0001. Instead the serial number prefix
is unique. According to <http://www.tomtom.com/products/maps/select.php> its
first two characters determine the model. To retrieve those fields HOME uses
the registry.
The registry keys HOME reads depends on the OS. HOME always needs
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\Vid_1390&Pid_0001. The
subkey here is USB's iSerial field. On XP, HOME also needs a ParentIdPrefix
field. It can find that in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USBSTOR\Disk&Ven_TomTom&Prod_ONE_IQ_Routes\<iSerial>
but that Prod_ part will probably depend on the product descriptor of your
particular device. The ParentIdPrefix can then be found in the appropriate
value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices (note: these are really in
UTF-16, even though they have type binary).
On Vista, HOME only needs the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices. The
values of these keys on Vista are now just device instance Ids (as mentioned in
comment 40 above).

After a specific scene in Secret Files Tunguska, the game crashes with the

In the command line neither a fixme nor an error appears, but the game
terminates after the error message.
I think it's not a crash, but a controlled termination because of the
exception.

ControlClick works perfectly fine on wine and windows:
http://www.autohotkey.com/docs/commands/ControlClick.htm
Click/Mouseclick are used to click in a certain x,y position, which I avoid,
simply because that can easily break on different screen sizes/if the window
moves/etc.

When exiting Morrowind, it freezes, you have to kill wineserver manually to get
around this. Also it freezes when the window loses focus (switching workspace
or Xserver). The same applies to The Elder Scrolls Construction Set for
Morrowind (log is identical)
Not sure about the component, I guess its d3d, see the log.

In Wine 1.1.27 I received several error messages during installation stating
"Database is not recoverable". I also receive the same message on program start
then the program exits. Is this the same problem?

Still present in 1.1.27. The winefile directory tree actually goes in a
recursive loop if you have a folder name with 3 dots.

Summary: Wine 1.1.27 Ubuntu 9.04 64 bit amd multiple clean
installs fails on all 3d apps
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.27
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: vektsilver(a)gmail.com
Hello,
I hope im not beating a dead horse here as this seems like it would be more
prevelant but i could not find the issue in bugzilla.
I have done multiple clean installs of the OS to prove it was not something I
was doing incorrectly at least from a setup stand point. It seems like no
matter what I do Wine crashes on the initial run and regenerates a new
system.reg even though there is one in place.
Applications like World of Warcraft, Sam & Max ( telltale games ), HomeWorld,
Portal and just about any 3D app will not launch. Additionally winecfg drives
tab has reported it "Failed to connect to the mount manager, the drive
configuration cannot be edited"
I have seen other tips saying rm -rf the .wine folders under home/user. I have
even added the mountmgr back into the system.reg manually but the reuslts dont
change for the apps even when i can access the drive setup.
my clean install steps are.
1. install ubuntu 64 bit 9.04 use EXT4 filesystem.
2. Geforce gtx 285 does not recognize off of initial startup no gui.
A. run sudo aptitude update & upgrade to get system fully patched.
B. run sudo sh ./NVIDIA.185.***X86_64*****.run ( installed Nvidia drivers
from the Nvidia website).
3. Gnome starts full gui control. log in and turn on the special effects to
EXTRA. Setup compiz how i prefer with compiz settings manager.
4. Then I follow winehq install tips for updating software sources and key so
synaptic shows version 1.1.27 of wine instead of 1.0.1.
5. I install wine confirmed install of 1.1.27 and once finished reboot and
tried notepad and get error on first run of notepad which closes but then
notepad finishes coming up. Checked winecfg cannot setup mounted disks and it
takes a long time to open as it creates a new system.reg again.
Noticed applications that fail to start hang around as zombies and never clear
unless killed. I have installed this system multiple times at this point all
with the same result
Thanks

Actually the dlls are dplay, dplayx, dpnaddr, dpnet, dpnhpast, dpnlobby and
dpwsockx.
With these dlls and the DUNE2000.DAT, Multiplayer Lobby works but hangs at
(60sec) sync.

Confirming this bug still exists in Underground 1.4 and wine 1.1.27. It first
appears exactly as Julian Rüger described it. However when using native dinput
and dinput8 DLLs, it only served to completely disable both the keyboard and
mouse. Basically it would seem wine users are now worse off.

Right, that's the OpenAL-Soft, not the original OpenAL which is now a history.
When this bug was opened, the "system one" was the old original OpenAL from
years back.
I suppose if someone wants to make a thunk dll it now would work. There were
some patch(es) floating around from several years back.

This crash is during the setup, and it's already described in bug 12014. Bug
12014 also describes a workaround for the installer. This bug is about running
Ability4, not about installing it. Someone please verify whether Ability4
runs, after being installed, with current git.

1. Which "system one" do you refer to?
OpenAL 1.8.466, which my Linux distribution installs?
2. OpenAL-Soft from http://kcat.strangesoft.net/openal.html is not installed
automatically, while the OpenAL of my Linux distribution is. If you are
hesitant to bridge OpenAL with a wrapper DLL, you should at least install the
OpenAL-Soft DLL automatically.
3. Does the OpenAL-Soft DLL inside Wine support accessing audio hardware /
hardware acceleration / hardware features?

Yes.
Now there's also a flood (thousands of lines) of dplay stub fixmes
(DP_IF_Receive), but that has most likely nothing to do with this case.

Summary: Extreme slowness in multiple games -
nVidia/KDE4/openSUSE
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.14
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: chris(a)chrobis.com
For many of the last few releases of Wine (somewhere not long after 1.0), I've
experience extreme slowness across multiple systems and multiple games that
wasn't present pre-1.0 or in 1.0 itself.
Specifically, I've noted slowness that makes gameplay impossible in:
- Age of Empires (1997)
- Birth of the Federation (1999)
- Age of Empires 2 (1999)
- Medieval 2: Total War (2006)
- Star Trek: Legacy (2006)
The slowdown is significant and affects as you can see a wide range of games on
three machines that I own, all of which are more than capable of playing
certainly the first few titles on the list.
Of the three machines I own and have tested Wine on, the following are common
threads:
- Running openSUSE 11.0 or 11.1
- Running latest Wine (1.1.14)
- Desktop environment is KDE4 (though no improvement running with GNOME)
- All nVidia cards (but range from an old FX5200 through to an 8400)
- All using Wine, KDE4 and nVidia from openSUSE repositories.
That aside, they have nothing in common. Two are 32-bit, one is 64-bit. Two are
running relatively old graphics cards, one is running a fairly new one. Two are
Intel machines, one is AMD. Two have 512MB of RAM, one has 2GB.
I like to do my bit for Wine by filing bug reports for various apps but this
slowdown is hindering me somewhat! I don't know a great deal about how to start
debugging, but if someone can suggest to me how I can help diagnose this
problem, I'd be more than happy to help :)

When trying to start Settlers VI: Rise of an Empire, I am greeted with a

for having those, it appears to communicate with a driver related to the Tages
copyprotection just before presenting this error.
The game version is 1.5.

Summary: Lightspeed Virtual Terminal opens extra window when

Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.14
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: trivial
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: nancedr(a)gmail.com
When LightSpeed Virtual Terminal connects to a VS server, the connection
details window spawns an extra window containing just the program icon, larger
than the details window. If you click on it to minimize, it will stop the
details window from closing when the connection to the server is terminated.
Otherwise it functions correctly.
This bug does not appear in Wine-1.1.0 but does show up in 1.1.1.
I ran regression testing on it per the instructions on the site, and I think
the patch in which it appeared was
[b312d42059cb5d139146b9902347c02dd1d8c1ab] quartz: Fix memory leak and behavior
on errors in FilterMapper_EnumMatchingFilters.
Though I could be wrong. Some of the patches caused the extra window to appear
as a tiny square, so I could have missed some.

Summary: Wine not functioning with VideoGet
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: blocker
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: aarnold426(a)gmail.com
I'm running Wine 1.0 on an Eee PC with Linux.
Wine is not properly running the program VideoGet from Nuclear Coffee.
On startup I get the following message:
"Could not convert variant of type (Null) into type (Integer)
>From there I press "ok" and the application opens.
The next problem is trying to add URLs to download. When I navigate to the Add
URL window, neither the "OK" or "cancel" buttons are labeled as such (no text).
The cancel button works, but the OK button does not.
In trying to exit the program I get the following message:
"Access violation at address 0060C7D4 in module 'VideoGet.exe'. Read of address
00000014."
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

The source is the same as comment #5. I did not run a test to see if it was

call the bat file. It may be easier to implement with changes to cmd since the
last time I looked at it but this bug is very low on my list.

I noticed something else ... while running with a lot of debug flags which made
sc slow:
After selecting battlenet and when the login screen appears, I see that the
background is properly drawn ... and then it fades out! (and not in)
I guess the last 'black' color is transparent and therefore all the rest of the
battle.net GUI is broken.

5 years after it was first opened its still occurring? score one for starcraft
:D still resisting the devs haha
its still occuriing in 1.1.23
--- Comment #107 from dzs6w3(a)gmail.com 2009-06-24 00:51:12 ---
Items not being cleared, the black color instead of surfaces reminds me of a
problem with flipping buffers and clearing the screen.
Perhaps Starcraft does its drawing of the battle.net menus in an unexpected way
that prevents it from working correctly with wine's implementation of direct
draw.
With the newest development (see previous post), I am curious to see what
happens if wine is changed so that the the back buffer and front buffer are
swapped. Perhaps we will get the background image (without text) of the
battle.net menu.
I do not know much about this stuff, so I am currently unable to do this
myself. Moreover, I do not know if it is even feasible.
Also, I think the battle.net menus work properly in Starcraft ran through
cedega. Maybe we can see a diff of wine's implementation of direct draw with
that of cedega. This is what I'm going to be doing since my ignorance will not
affect looking at differences in code as much as trying to find the problem by
just looking at wine's code.

Well, there goes comparing cedega to wine. The direct draw code is not
released with the cvs version of cedega.

Shouldn't the importance be trivial or minor instead of normal? It doesn't look
so nice, but it doesn't affect the game functionality at all. And it's only
active on the menus, not on the game itself.

So all the graphics are being draw, but because the battle.net window
is drawn on top with a transparent background the graphics window does
not show.
The battle.net hack floating around, that does draw the graphics, does not
draw the text dialog windows.
Does this have to do with the fact that X11 does not support alpha blending,
and that what is now drawn as black is supposed to be transparent?

partial redrawing
I have noticed that even though in most of Battle.nets menus we get the
overlapping text, there are areas that does not have that issue... even though
i am not a programmer I think that maybe there we can find a clue of what is
causing the problem...
As other said the backgrounds are being drawn below the screen and when i have
wine creating a virtual desktop if i move over another window on top of
starcraft the window stays drawn there.

--- Comment #108 from dzs6w3(a)gmail.com 2009-06-24 00:55:46 ---
Well, there goes comparing cedega to wine. The direct draw code is not
released with the cvs version of cedega.

Shouldn't the importance be trivial or minor instead of normal? It doesn't look
so nice, but it doesn't affect the game functionality at all. And it's only
active on the menus, not on the game itself.

The battle.net hack floating around, that does draw the graphics, does not
draw the text dialog windows.
Does this have to do with the fact that X11 does not support alpha blending,
and that what is now drawn as black is supposed to be transparent?

I have noticed that even though in most of Battle.nets menus we get the

When I start up Baraha (a program for typing in Indian languages)

menubar does not show up. Before, I could just click in the space where it
should be a few times and it would show up. Now, it just doesn't show up

not sure where this bug should be located. If this is in the wrong place,
please let me know and I will move it to the appropriate place. Thank you

Is there some way we could change the title of this bug to something like:
"DirectPlay not implemented in Wine, and needs native Windows dlls to be
installed."
... otherwise, for example in the Total Annihilation page,
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=7306 , someone
just glancing at the page might assume that, as the bug says at the moment,
online play actually doesn't work, which is not exactly what the bug is saying,
and not really true, since there are workarounds available, by following the
instructions at http://wiki.winehq.org/DirectPlayGames .
--- Comment #20 from Hugh Perkins <hughperkins(a)gmail.com> 2009-08-11 05:47:07 ---
winetricks updated to install directplay, from DirectX 9 redistributable, which
surprisingly works ok, eg against Total Annihilation, which is a game from
1997.
Get it from svn:
http://winezeug.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/winetricks
Just type:
"sh winetricks directplay"
Tested against Total Annihilation
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=7306

For condor soaring it still does not work even with native windows dlls.

S103, VirtualDub 1.7 and Quicktime are unusable, the make all the other apps on
a system unusable too.
Certainly not minor.
--- Comment #48 from Ronny Standtke <Ronny.Standtke(a)gmx.net> 2009-08-11 07:12:25 ---
The definition of major is: "Major loss of functionality for a wide range of
applications", see http://bugs.winehq.org/page.cgi?id=fields.html#importance
I can confirm that a wide range of applications is broken because of this
issue, e.g. every application where Quicktime is used destroys the user
desktop. Unfortunately, there are a lot of such applications.
--- Comment #49 from Stefan Dösinger <stefandoesinger(a)gmx.at> 2009-08-11 08:10:17 ---
The apps that blank the screen that way are broken in some form - what they're
doing is not compatible with composited desktops. Vista disables Aero in that
case.
A workaround for those apps that are still maintained, like QuickTime, is to
set winver=vista - that way they'll use an alternate, more sane codepath.
QuickTime for example uses d3d9 for drawing instead of DirectDraw rendering to
the desktop window.
--- Comment #50 from Vitaliy Margolen <vitaliy(a)kievinfo.com> 2009-08-11 08:47:55 ---
Minor - For minor loss of functionality, or other problem where an *easy
workaround is present* (virtual desktop).
Trivial - For a UI glitch that doesn't affect running of a program
Does "blanking the screen" affect running the actual program? - No.

Not all programs have a workaround. E.g., programs that haven't made a Vista
version.

Hello, all
When we need to type in more than 1 language (for example arabic and english)
in one text file in notepad or internet explorer (in google site) of wine.
(Using KDE and and wine-1.1.24.)
When we change the "input language" in KDE with Alt-Ctrl-K key , most of the
keys in notepad of wine will not display any character any others will type the
"?" character. :-(
Please specify in detail:
1 - How must we activate "input language" changing in wine ?
2 - After that, when we are running a notepad with wine , with what key i can
change the "input language", or bring up "input language" icon of taskbar of
Win-XP ?( that this changing can be done in Win-XP by Alt-Shift keys)
thanks

No, that won't work. You can't run it with full path. It literally have to be:
cd <outside of directory with program.exe>
wine start program.exe
This which won't work for most other apps.

Tested against Total Annihilation

> app.exe.
That's what is wrong. You can't run it directly, it have to be launched via
ShellExecute (what start does). You will have the same exact problem if you try
to start this program on Windows from the cmd. But not from explorer, since it
too uses ShellExec.
> How *should* menubuilder know which to use?
Don't know, I'm guessing it's a different type of the link/link version. On
Windows you can not edit the command for these links. It would just show
"Target: program.exe" as a text not even an edit box.

I think I found why does it crash here. Application data/buffer/map isn't ready
at a point when we're requesting dispinfo text for drawing operation. We really
shouldn't draw yet at this point and shouldn't request anything from parent.
Bug is in WM_SETREDRAW handling.
Minimal patch looks like that:

How was the link created wrong? All links are created in the form wine
app.exe.
If that is the problem, given the age of the bug, then it's safe to say that
they are duplicates of this, not the other way round.
Seven years old, no fix.
What is the purpose of "wine start" where "wine" is not sufficient?
How *should* menubuilder know which to use?
It's a Wine bug either way.

Summary: Add a 'comments' field to the 'bugs' table of an
application instance
Product: WineHQ Apps Database
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: appdb-unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: hughperkins(a)gmail.com
Add a 'comments' field to the 'bugs' table of an application instance
Currently there is a list of bugs attached to an application instance, but the
titles are often not very meaningful to end users who might read them.
It might be useful to have a 'comment's column added to the bugs table where
one could write down what the bug means for the end user.
For example, looking at Total Annihilation
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=7306 , we have two
bugs that could benefit from this. Currently we see for example:
Bug: 4066
Description: Online Play Doesn't Work (DirectPlay)
Bug: 9159
Description: ProgMan DDE interface is not implemented in Wine's
shell32/explorer
In these examples, the first bug, 4066, makes it look like online play is not
possible, which is actually not the case. The second bug doesn't really tell
an end user anything about what this means for them.
It might be useful for end users to be able to add a 'what this means for you'
description, such as:
Bug: 4066
Description: Online Play Doesn't Work (DirectPlay)
What this means for you: You'll need to install the native directplay dlls as
an override, see http://wiki.winehq.org/DirectPlayGames
Bug: 9159
Description: ProgMan DDE interface is not implemented in Wine's
shell32/explorer
What this means for you: The shortcuts won't be installed when you run the
installer, so you'll either need to launch the application from the
commandline, or create your own .desktop shortcuts.

Summary: Integrate wineprefixes/bottles into the wine gui
utilities
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.27
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: hughperkins(a)gmail.com
Integrate wineprefixes/bottles into the wine gui utilities
wineprefixes/bottles are a very powerful way of keeping one's
configuration/prefixes clean.
This is especially true if one needs dll overrides for certain applications,
which could easily interfere with each other.
Further, adding dll overrides to a prefix invalidates submission of bug reports
for that prefix, so it is useful to be able to create different
prefixes/bottles for this reason.
Currently, prefixes can generally be used only from the commandline, or by
creating certain custom .desktop icons/scripts.
It could be useful to integrate the concept of bottles/prefixes into the gui
utilities, for example, for winecfg.
For example, perhaps a dialog could be run prior to launching the main winecfg,
that could work similarly to firefox -ProfileManager, and could allow one to
pick the bottle to work off of, create/delete bottles, and select a default
bottle to use.
In addition, if this is not already done, it could be useful if the .desktops
created for an application installed under a certain prefix automatically run
from that prefix.

Start menu icons not created by Total Annihilation installer.
I'll attach an attachment showing the log at the console: it looks like the
icon creation is not implemented yet. To this extent, one could argue it is
not a bug but a missing feature, but I felt it might be useful to at least
document that this missing feature affects concretely the installation of Total

Log from running Men of War under wine 1.1.25 (WINEDEBUG=warn+all)
Originally noticed in Wine 1.1.26, but I started downgrading wine packages and
in Wine 1.1.25 it is still broken (Men of War crashes), in Wine 1.1.24 and
earlier versions (Wine 1.1.20 ...) it works fine (No crashes)
This happens with Men of War, version 1.1.13. When I run the game, it crashes
after showing all video sequences (game logo, publisher logo, etc ...), just
before showing the "loading" screen and entering menu.
I have set WINEDEBUG=warn+all and I am attaching the log (from wine 1.1.25,
first version suffering from the regression). I tried also WINEDEBUG=+all but
then the game is too slow due to all logging that it actually dcoes not get to
the crashing point in a reasonable time.

OK, under Windows, Organizer (not Approach as I first stupidly said) does not
append the PATH variable. So it must use another method to find it's DLLs.

The usual.
Shortcut uses:
env WINEPREFIX="/home/test/.wine" wine "C:\lotus\organize\org32.exe" /LEN
but nothing happens of course.
Or, CD to folder, "wine org32.exe"
err:module:import_dll Library LTSCSN10.DLL (which is needed by
L"C:\\lotus\\organize\\TZBACK32.dll") not found
err:module:import_dll Library LTASWN14.DLL (which is needed by
L"C:\\lotus\\organize\\TZBACK32.dll") not found
err:module:import_dll Library LTASBN14.DLL (which is needed by
L"C:\\lotus\\organize\\TZBACK32.dll") not found
...and so on.
DLLs are in c:\lotus\compnent. Adding the path fixes the problem.
Similar story with S103.

Screenshot of error
S103 Discovering Science is an Open University course application. It installs
Toolbook 5.0 in its own directory during installation.
Toolbook is launched from within the S103 application but immediately fails
with message:
"Failed initializing the book file manager. Make sure the file TB50NET.EXE is
available in your PATH. If failure continues, close other applications or
increase conventional memory."
This works fine under Windows XP.
Workaround is adding "C:\S103\TB50RUN;" to the PATH environment variable. Not
sure how to do this with .reg file, which would make the workaround easier.
Only output in the console is this:
fixme:hook:SetWindowsHookEx16 System-global hooks (7) broken in Win16
Installing Toolbook 5 separately does not help either (still a PATH problem).

There seems to be a issue when attempting to connect to a world of warcraft
account after doing the battle.net username conversion. There is a new
battle.net deal going on allowing you to link all your blizzard games to a
single account, which is a email address, after doing this each time I attempt
to connect to that particular world of warcraft account the game crashes and
displays a MS Visual runtime error. When attempting to connect to a regular
warcraft account, it is not a issue. As far as I know this is a issue with all
versions of Wine, I have attempted to try it on 1.1.25 and the Stable release
1.0.1. Thanks.

I don't think this is critical, so reducing to major.
I also don't know why this is closed fixed.
This is still an issue in latest git (Wine 1.1.27).
Lotus Approach 97 can not find its own DLLs which it drops in c:\lotus\compnent
The OU's S103 can not find Toolbook 5 which it drops into c:\s103\tb50run
This basically affects any app that looks for a component not specified by the
PATH variable. Under Windows, this isn't a problem.
Either the PATH isn't being appended during installation, or something isn't
being passed by the loader for it to look in the correct place.
Adding the paths to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session
Manager\Environment\PATH is a workaround.
Will check on a Windows installation and update asap.

I typed up a very lengthy Test Data report for Lord of the Rings Online only to
hit preview and be redirected to the login page, I presume due to a session
timeout. I logged in and it sent me back to the Add Test Data form with all of
my information gone!!!
Because arriving at this form used a POST and not GET (I presume that to be the
reason) attempting to return via my browser's history was also unsuccessful as
I was prompted that it would have to resubmit the form to display the page and
I agreed.
I set the initial severity to major, although I'm sure you guys have your own
measures for bug severity. The reason I did this is because it resulted in the
loss of about 30 minutes or more of work in detailing my test and results.
Many people who run into this error will not bother to submit a bug report, and
in fact, will probably just get frustrated and give up -- this is very bad.
Perhaps the number of times this has occurred can be ascertained by examining
the server logs and look for a URL pattern that indicates a submission of Test
Data where a session had expired.
I understand if you want to keep the session timeout low. But at a minimum,
the submitted data MUST NOT BE LOST, no matter what!

This is a bug that's been around for a while. If I recall correctly, I once
tried to do some regression bisects, but due to other changes in Wine I was
unable to compile a version old enough to get to a working build.
Here's the bug:
Back in v1.0.1, Wine displayed the flash content of the Steam client properly
(this was taken using the Ubuntu packages):
http://www.eternaldusk.com/images/screenshots/steam-flash-1.0.1-0ubuntu6.png
However, this has been broken for a long time (here's Wine 1.1.26, it's the
same as 1.1.27):
http://www.eternaldusk.com/images/screenshots/steam-no_flash.png
Those two shots were taken on the same machine with the same prefix, just by
changing wine versions. Creating a clean prefix does not help, and I've
demonstrated the problem (and seen it work in 1.0.1) on other machines.

With dxlevel set to 90, some textures in CSS do not appear to render correctly.
This is highly visible in the video stress test demo.
See the video at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHkbIWuWOFU
Note the textures on the left hand side of the screen - particularly when the
camera is moving out of the water and up the boards.
This smear effect is not present when the game is forced into older (8.1 and
7.0) DirectX modes.

Summary: Command and Conquer 3 Uprising doesn't work anymore

Hi,
I'm running Command and Conquer 3 Uprising since 1.1.22 in my Ubuntu 9.04
machine, using Wine official repositories Debian packets. Last Saturday, I did
a upgrade to 1.1.26, as usual, and the game stop working. It just freezes in
splash screen, without any error message displayed. To be sure, I downgraded to
1.1.25 and it backs to work normally.
I can't tell if others games are having the same kind of problems, but I think
it's very likely, maybe a problem with new feature "Faster bitmap stretching
using XRender".
If you need more information, please, contact me.
Thanks a lot,
Alexandre

With today's Git (wine-1.1.25-487-gf59a309), when the "Download Place Database
for geocoding and gazetteering" option is selected (by default), the installer
attempts to retrieve the relevant file. Instead of working as expected, the
installer simply hangs at "Getting file information..." and the download
attempt cannot be aborted. winedbg seems to indicate that the download thread
is hung trying to read from the stream:

be handling the HEAD request correctly and tries to read further data when
there is none to be expected.

Backtrace of crash when about to prompt for a username and password
Xenu is a website link checker that finds broken links. In general it installs
and works very well (so Silver).
It has the ability to check links that requires a username and password. When
it finds the first link like this, the application prompts the user for a
username and password. Under wine, it is at this point the application or wine
crashes. The window to prompt for username and password doesn't appear.
If you disable the prompting for username and password feature, the application
no longer crashes, it just notes that it couldn't check that link because
authentication was required.
So you can avoid crashes by disabling the 'Ask for password or certificate when
needed' option under 'Options' -> 'Settings'. This make the application very
stable, but of course you will not be able to check links that require password
access.
Backtrace attached.
Information about this free-to-use application, including download links are in
the App DB (URL on this bug).
