I hope these screenshots, logs, etc. are helpful and not just clutter!
Tested against current git (wine-1.1.25-133-g7cc7e7b)
I assume you have to install VB6.0-KB290887-X86 aka vbrun60sp6 to even test
this bug due to the missing MSVBVM60.DLL messages if you don't.
Installing VB files brings about bug 4098 (3 of the files are not installed due
to being duplicates of existing wine files) and I did NOT replace the wine
files.
1. button - still works
(no change since comment #2)
2. db1 - works?
(no change since comment #2 I believe) Shows error dialog (attached), shows
errors (see attached) in terminal, and after acknowledging the error dialog it
opens. Ran in WinXP with vbrun60sp6 installed and there is an error dialog
before it opens there also (Data Access Error).
3. db2 - works?
Before running Setup:
(same result as comment #2) Ran on WinXP and got the same error dialog as in
wine (component 'DBGRID32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly
registered: a file is missing or invalid)
After running setup:
I got the same err dialog as when running db1 (see db2-1 attachments). Then it
opened. When you close it you get a Unhandled page fault (same as in comment
#2??). Ran on WinXP and got same as in db1 (Data Access Error) and then opened.
No error dialog on close in Windows. Once open functionality seems to be the
same between Wine + Win.
4. db3 - still broke
(same as comment #2) prints the error dialog: "Component 'MSDATGRD.OCX' or one
of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"
Copy over MSDATGRD.OCX.
Rerun then get error dialog from comment #4 (attached db3-1).
Copy over MSADODC.OCX.
Rerun then get error dialog "Runtime error 429. ActiveX component can't create
object" (attached db3-2)
5. form - still works
(no change since comment #2 and does same as in WinXP - blank vb form) - Title
bar text is centered in wine but left in Windows...
6. setup - still works.
(same as comment #2 plus:) text in install dialogs is mangled - part of each
letter of text is missing. Don't know if this was there when Juan Lang tested.

Output of wine in terminal seen after program crash
Orbiter (version 060929 patch 1) crashes when trying to run a scenario from the
"Launchpad" menu. This was installed using the latest stable release of Wine,
1.0.1.
Installs fine, when started "Launchpad" dialogue opens as it would on Windows.
Trying to run a scenario presents a blank turquoise screen with part of a file
name on the left hand side. Normal behavior should be a splash screen with the
files being loaded on the left hand side, before starting the scenario.
Orbiter log file shows no error, which would be expected if an Orbiter error
caused it.

In Medal of Honor Spearhead, after upgrading to Wine 1.1.12, now when I hold
down the mouse button to fire a machine gun, it only fires 1 or 2 rounds then
stops or stutters. It makes machine guns useless.
The upgrade did fix other mouse issues though, like before it took about a half
second between the time I pressed the mouse button and the gun started to fire.
I tested it in Ubuntu, and I used the "seta in_mouse -1" fix.
If you are in Ubuntu, you may also want to disable pulseaudio to get audio
working correctly.

Old computer was amd64, 2Gig RAM, nVidia 7800GTS running Gentoo Linux
(unstable).
wine has always run my games reasonably well :)
New computer (old one died) intel Core2 Quad, nVidia 9800GX2, 4Gig Ram - again
running Gentoo Linux (unstable)
After $random amount of time games suddenly slowdown to less than a frame per
second and/or lock hard. Mouse is still responsive, but cannot actually click
anything. Sound either stops or loops over the same part. Launching game via
console does not show anything out of the ordinary. I've ruled out audio as
turning off audio in either game doesn't alleviate the issue.
When game locks like this, the OS is still perfectly usable - can alt-tab out,
email, browse, compile, etc. Closing the game I can re-start it again. However,
this is not entirely desirable :)
Games affected
EVE-Online Classix
EVE-Online Premium
World Of Warcraft (OpenGL mode)
I can't get EVE to run under wine debugger via relay. When I terminate the
debugger EVE then starts. I can no longer test WoW as my account expired.
EVE wrapped cedega client does not exhibit this issue, neither do native games
such as Doom3 or Quake4.
If any more information is required to help fix this issue, no matter how
small, I'm happy to help :)

Currently, Wine winhelp renders drop shadows on popup boxes as solid black.

The game gets past the "??? Unknown Exception" message with wine 1.1.25 for me
and everything seems to work. It runs way too slow to be really playable
though. Animations, text typing, terrain generating,... everything is slow. It
could be because of the opensource r300 graphics driver I use. I get this fixme

Yeah, it appears to depend on the program. Firefox doesn't have the problem
anymore, but, e.g., CCleaner does.

With Wine 1.1.25 bug is still present, fonts have black borders a bit shifted
to the right. Effect depends on what letters are used in word and how long the
displayed sentence is (usually does not influence gameplay at all).
All other bugs (mouse not working, keyboard malfunction) does not exists
anymore.

application itself); when running under WINEDEBUG=+relay, I get a pop-up
message about unhanded exception. This is an (small) upgrade to an application
I had run successfully on wine, so it looks like the vendor might have changed
something in the new release; nonetheless, I like to be able to run the new
version, so I am hoping to get some help.
Sorry, it is a proprietary application, but I am willing to try to anything.
Obviously, when WINEDEBUG=+relay results in a pop-up unhanded exception, it is
not very useful; and there is no error message when it aborts under plain
wine...

Console output from installing and then launching Soundslides
A Ubuntu 8.04 user posted a message on the forum that Soundslides Plus in Wine
was not displaying some of the text that would normally be displayed in
Windows. She posted screenshots of how it appeared on her computer in both Wine
and Windows.
I downloaded the demo and found that the text did not appear on my system
either; a third forum user also confirmed that they saw the problem, too. One
person, however, tested the demo and did not experience this problem. There
was some discussion as to what differences between our systems might be the
cause, but no clear pattern emerged.
The original poster contacted the program's developer, who noted in his reply
that "All of the missing text is rendered via the same font (coded as "_sans"
which should target to your default sans-serif system font)." The developer
thought the problem might be missing MS core fonts, however, both the original
poster and I already had the core fonts on our systems, and copying them to
Wine's windows/fonts directory did not solve the problem.
I am uploading my console output from installing the program and then launching
it, along with a screenshot of what should be the EULA during the install.

Tested with wine 1.1.25; the drawing issue still happens, but now only for the
right part of the window, a region about 200 pixel wide.
A simpler way to reporduce the same bug is to drag the application's window
outside of the wisible part of the wine desktop window, then drag it back. The
corruption can be seen very clearly. Looking more carefully to the incorrectly
drawn region, it seems that only the background is not being drawn (that should
be white), the lines in the application window are actually there, but they are
hard to distinguish from the junk.

Some wine users don't know some downloads aren't good for some windows
versions.
Sometimes, install some libs do the wine system do not work anymore, because we
override the correct version of that lib for the version of Windows we are
using with Wine...
For example, the component "ExampleLibPlaySound.dll" is installed to some
application who runs with Windows XP config on Wine. Then I install DCOM98 who
have a ond version of this lib to Windows 98. What happens here: I lost my "XP"
version of the lib and my wine system stop works correctily, and I'm a newbye
user with wine and don't know how fix this.
Wine already have a configuration to work with prefix, why not do Wine create a
prefix for each Windows version automatically? I think if we have a good
project to do this, can be the solution to problems with application
compatibility.
See this case:
I have wine working with Windows 2000 compatibility, then I go install an
application who told me "Windows XP is needed". I open Wine config utility and
put "Windows XP", and now I can install the new application and broke my wine
system without know why exactily.
Wine is trying do 2 or 3 (or more) versions of Windows run at the same
directory! This don't happens with Windows and will not work good with Wine,
and it's not the user who need know how fix this (users are not always
programmers, can be people who knows only use the Office application).
If I'm wrong, please correct me. And thanks for attention. :-)

I was able to get sound to work with Rise of Nations full version + Thrones &
Patriots expansion (Version: 02.03.11.0302).
Wine 1.1.25, Ubuntu 9.04
Had to set the following DLL overrides to native:
dmime
dmsynth
dmusic
dsound
dswave
l3codecx
l3codecx native was required for music. Sound effects worked without it.
I removed native overrides for dmime, dmsynth, dmusic, dsound, and dswave one
by one and confirmed that sound doesn't start if any one of those overrides is
missing.
If you create a separate application profile for the overrides, it needs to be
set on nations.exe.

Jade Empire menu screenshot: colors messed up
Recent changes in wine caused the colors to now appear completely wrong
in the game "Jade Empire", at the start menu and during the game proper
(which is however still unplayable due to the invisible characters).
The change in behavior happened between wine 1.1.23 and 1.1.25.
The colors appear all bluish and greyish.
Attaching screenshot in windowed mode (same results in fullscreen mode).

Black Background
This has been an issue for a long time, however, I was waiting for Trillian
Astra to go into public beta testing before I could report it, so others could
test this. Strangely enough, this issue only occurs in Trillian Astra; I
haven't seen this issue in any other program, or any of the earlier version of
Trillian.
The issue is simple enough. Any image with a transparent background appears
black. The image will appear, however, the background, which is suppose to be
transparent, is black.
I will test this on Wine 1.0.25 later tonight after I get off work, running
late enough as is. But, the issue has been here for as long as I can remember.
The screen shot below will best describe what I'm seeing.

Equation Editor 3.0. MSWord ran well. EqnEd gave the error message documented
above. Many Object types from the Insert Object menu also failed. Following
this thread I set Wine to use the native usp10.dll and replaced the Wine
ole32.dll.so with the Crossover ole32.dll.so. After this EqnEd worked well. I
also installed Crossover 8.0; EqnEd worked terribly in this environment,
possibly because I put it in a Win98 bottle.

I have installed Crossover 8.0 (root install), and then installed Office 2003
in a clean user profile in F10 - the equation editor works flawlessly in this
environment for me.
Have you tried Word 2003 rather than Word 2000?

wined3d: Emulate clipplanes in ARB if the NV extensions are not available.
This patch tries to find a free texture coordinate to load up to 4 clip
coordinates into the pixel shader, and uses KIL to throw away fragments
that are cut by a clipplane. If no free texture coordinate is found,

Summary: Intel Xorg: no more 3D since default
OffscreenRenderingMode is fbo
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.23
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: hoehle(a)users.sourceforge.net
CC: hverbeet(a)gmail.com
Wine used to self-configure itself with reasonable defaults. This is broken
since wine-1.1.23 by commit a5876bb91e92645a400a248abb1ef283d1a822f6
wined3d: Use FBOs for offscreen rendering by default.
AFAIK, fbo does not exist on the Intel i915 drivers, apparently causing Wine to
tell applications that there's no 3D!
The Westerner now reports: "R3Dgl: PICTuRE: The Westerner" "Could not find any
compatible Direct3D devices. This sample will now exit."
FIFA WM 2006 complains that it needs hardware acceleration.
Adding HKCU\Software\Wine\Direct3D
"OffscreenRenderingMode"="backbuffer"
allows these apps to start.
This failure to start surprised me, as I convinced myself long ago that setting
ORM on the Intel in user.reg had no effect. Since then I was happy to have one
less configuration setting to check to try and get apps to run ;-)
Please provide for automatic fallback fbo->backbuffer in wined3d to complete
this patch.
Using Ubuntu 8.04 or 8.10 with corresponding Intel Xorg driver.

Mp3Tag v2.43 under wine 1.1.18 crashes while displaying the tracks found using
the Tag Sources feature.
Steps to reproduce:
0. Download and install Mp3Tag v2.43 from
http://download.mp3tag.de/mp3tagv243setup.exe
1. Open a directory with some mp3 files
2. Select one file in the file view
3. In main menu, click on "Tag Sources -> Amazon.com"
4. Enter "Avril"
5. Select album "X-Posed"
6. Click "Next"
7. The results windows pops up and Mp3Tag crashes right afterwards
Tested on Gentoo Linux with both wine from repository and the current git
version built with default settings.

In trying to work through and get Everquest2 to work on my T60p with
ATI's latest drivers I kept on getting a unable to find an appropriate iPixel
Format.
Debugging the code I found the following in
dll\wined3d\context.c
on line 148 the if statement there is irrelevent because of the line above it.
by removing the if around the statment it seems to now have resolved the issue.
here is the fix I did
if(DepthStencilFormat != WINED3DFMT_D24S8)
FIXME("Add OpenGL context recreation support to
SetDepthStencilSurface\n");
DepthStencilFormat = WINED3DFMT_D24S8;
/* if(DepthStencilFormat) { Changed June 19,08*/
getDepthStencilBits(DepthStencilFormat, &depthBits, &stencilBits);
/* } */
Now I do not get the error anymore.
Also I changed line 173 - 181 to one if statement instead of 3 like so :
if ((cfgs->redSize != redBits) || (cfgs->greenSize != greenBits) ||
(cfgs->blueSize != blueBits) || (cfgs->alphaSize != alphaBits))
continue;
Can others getting the iPixel Format error test the above fix and tell me if it
breaks anything or fixes it..

this is the conclusion of my own research and a bit of googling.

The material for this bug:
my comments in http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13090
a comment in alsa bug tracking -

The short of it is:
using snd_pcm_delay for checking, if all sound has been played is plain wrong,
and breaks not only pulseaudio, but is probably responsible for

Summary: Sound in Nightlong only working every couple of starts
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0-rc1
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-dsound
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: hein(a)kde.org
"Nightlong" is an adventure game released in 1998 by Team 17. It works well in
Wine, except for sound - music, ambient, dialogue - not working every time the
game is started, but only sometimes.
Tested Wine versions include 0.9.61 and 1.0rc1. I have never run the game with
an earlier version of Wine, so I have no "known good" to use in a bisect, and
don't know if the problem is a regression.
A Wine default config was used, except for the Windows version being set to
"Windows 98" as it seemed most appropriate given the age of the game. The bug
also happens with "Windows XP", however.
A demo of the game is available here:
http://www.fileplanet.com/28736/20000/fileinfo/Nightlong:-Union-City-Conspi…
However, I have used a patched full version of the game, not the demo.
I have created two logs with WINEDEBUG=+dsalsa,+wave as instructed by
mlankhorst on IRC. The first log is from a session in which sound is working,
the second from a session in which sound is not working. Both logs cover the
same actions: Starting the game, skipping the intro video, and in the
subsequent first interactive screen, double-clicking an interactive object to
make the player character utter a line of dialogue. Then, bringing up the menu
and quitting the game again. The logs are attached as gzipped plain text files.
I'm available to provide further debug information and test any patches or
solutions.

As uTorrent is one of the most used apps in wine, it would be interesting to

The memory use of the game can be monitored with other tools.

MS Equation Editor 3.0 in Wine 1.1.23, fc10.
I have Wine 1.1.23 installed on fc10. I installed MSWord 2000 and tried to run

What remains are bugs resulting from the simplified implementation of the

about.

Summary: Poser 7 crashes part way through install
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.10
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: aa4mw(a)yahoo.com
The installer starts and copies about half of the files to the "Poser 7"
directory then randomly either stalls or crashes.
Install is from one of the very first production DVDs shipped. I am a beta
tester for new Poser releases.
It appears to consistently install the file "msvcr80.dll", but crashes very
soon after.
I am attempting to copy the Poser 7 directory from my VMware install (which
works fine) into the wine C drive for further testing.
FWIW, OS is OpenSUSE 64 bit 11.0, a completely fresh install to a newly
formatted HDD (thanks to Mr. Gates :-( )

Upgrading to 1.1.0 results in the game freezing at seemingly random moments.

saved game from the load menu on the main screen.

I am going to attempt a regression test, however since it is not predictable
when the bug happens it might take a long time. This is also the first time I

In Oblivion I cannot load a game from the title screen that I saved outside
unless I start a new game or load an indoor save and then load the outdoor one.
Indoor saved games load without any problem from the title screen.
When trying to load an outdoor save from the title screen one of two things
happen. Sometimes the loading bar gets stuck and I have to kill the process,
other times the loading bar goes to the end, but the screen remains black. I
can hear people talking now and then, and I can hear music, but attempting to
swing a sword doesn't make a noise, and pressing escape doesn't display the
menu. Then I have to kill the process again.
When it hangs on the loadbar the following output appears in the console used
to launch wine:

The main fixmes that appear during gameplay, with notes about their appearance
Team Fortress works fine for the first few minutes, but after that it becomes
slower and slower until finally the only way to see (or hear) the gameplay
continue is to constantly jiggle the mouse.
I'm not sure exactly what solves it, but *sometimes* (not always) restarting or
changing the wine version fixes it, though no matter if it's 0.9.59 or 1.0-rc5
it will eventually start again if I open the game again during the same
startup.
I have been playing TF2 perfectly under dx8.1 with graphics turned all the way
up (and res as high as possible, 1680x1050) and it has worked excellently with
no problems except for the server webpage at the first page when you choose a
server (it's just black).
Half Life 2 and the sequels still work just as fine.
I managed to capture the bug while outputting to a text file. I've attached a
text file of the main fixmes that appear at that time that seem to cause the
error (It's mainly lots of repeats and is ~81,000 lines long without cutting),
but the orginal will be attached too since it's only 6 MB.

After upgrading to the 1.0 RC's, Half-Life (and Half-Life: Blue Shift) fail to

When starting, the main menu background shows up for about five seconds, and
the user is then ejected back out of the game.
Running in the terminal shows a lot of err's and fixme's (like always), but no
recognizable crash message of any kind.
After downgrading to 0.9.61 Half-Life started just fine, leading me to believe
that this is a regression of sorts.
Also, since neither Half-Life nor Blue Shift would start, it's my guess that
none of the Half-Life GoldSrc-based games will start (including Opposing Force
and Decay) - therefore I'm rating it as a 'major' severity.
Attached is the output I get from running the game under Wine 0.9.61 (where it
works). It is exactly the same output as running it under Wine 1.0-RC4 (AFAIK).

Font size set to 12 in Delphi/WINE.
Hey all,
after the installation of Delphi worked without noteworthy problems, I am now
experiencing a couple of issues with WINE drawing/printing things, which might
be easily fixable due to the fact that they are just graphical problems.
First one: in Delphi one can set various font sizes for elements like Labels,
Panel and so on, which works fine in Windows. But WINE shows a strange behavior
here: when changing from font size 12 to 14 WINE does nothing, whereas in
Windows the font size really grows. Also, you could set the the size to 100 (I
did for testing purposes in the screenshots), but WINE does not change any size
but uses still the 12pt size, it seems that something is broken there within
WINE.
Well that's happening in the "designer" mode, but it seems to be the same on
runtime, so I guess there might be also other applications hitting that bug
with binary programs (Screenshots flagged with "Runtime") ...
Second one: properties changed in the object inspector should be bold when they
are not set to the default value. That's a nice feature which helps people to
see which property *they* changed and makes it easy to revert bad decisions.
However, WINE does not print them in bold font or anything
This bug is not limited to object inspector though, NO fonts in Delphi's
"design" mode are bold, even when set to that, but instead WINE ignores it,
even in the compiled program later on.
This does NOT hit the editor in Delphi which is able to show wonderful bold
text.
You can find plenty examples for this bug in the "Delphi-Size-xx" screenshots.
Third issue: that is a little bit more complicated indeed and might not be
easily to fix in contrast to the first ones.
As you may or may not know (at least you will see it) Delphi has something like
a box with verbose compiler messages at the bottom side of the editor.
Now one can double click on the first message and the editor is jumping to that
specific line where an error or a warning occured, setting the background of
that line to red for better visibility.
We fix that issue (or not ;)) and double click on the second entry in that
box... this time the editor should jump to the second error line and so on,
like above, but there are some problems with WINE.
When clicking on the second entry the editor is NOT jumping to the second
erratic line but to the first one and the first entry remains
"activated"/highlighted in that box.
It is possible to override/"fix" that behavior by clicking into that box one
time and then selecting the entry one wants to have a closer look at and THAN
double click on it/in the box.
Well, as that might be possible, it's not very comfortable and not the default
behavior and should be fixed as well. :)
So that are my three points so far, I could not find any other bugs yet. ;)
You will have some screenshots attached both with WINEs (version 0.9.51 with
that little msi patch of truiken) behavior and the one under a natively running
Windows (not on the same boxes, though, but that should not cause any problems)
in the next comment. (By the way, why does Bugzilla allow only one attachment
in the first Bug Commit?)
-Ionic
(The entries in the StringGrid you see there in two of the screenshots are just
plain fiction; neither the names nor the attributes given there correspond to
the reality. (I included this to prevent privacy legality actions.))

Summary: FlashFXP wont start in 1.1.24
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.24
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P5
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: wine(a)tehk.org
There has been some type fo regression in 1.1.24 that prevents FlashFXP from
even starting. The listview bug was fixed for FlashFXP in 1.1.23 brining the
application to a Platinum status, however, now it is back to Garbage.
I've tested the app in 1.1.23 and 1.1.24 both times completely deleting the
~/.wine folder. In 1.1.23, the app works no problems at at all. In 1.1.24, the
window will temporarily appear after launch, and then hang. Nothing can be done
but to kill the process to get it to go away.
For now, I will stick to 1.1.23 to continue using my favorite wine compatible
application!

> Is this still an issue in current (1.1.24 or newer) wine?
Using 1.1.23, i can't tell because the installer crashes with an error "Setup
was interrupted before it could complete" when the "installing files" bar is
about 15-20% through. Exact same thing happens with Audition 3.0 setup (haven't
tried 2.x yet)
I have to reinstall audition because this program stopped working a few
versions ago. (stays stuck on startup screen) I don't know if this is a
recession bug in wine, or some f.up in the windows environment running under
wine.
Maybe i should post a new bug report for this?

When you hit "Start", the game churns in the background a while, then blows up
with the above error in a dialog box, twice, then a cryptic "Send error
report?" and finally the classic "encountered a serious problem and needs to
close" dialog. There's a fairly sizable list of fixme's in the output
(attached). nksp.exe (appears to be the actual game binary?) never actually
quits and I have to kill it from a shell.

I got the game to run on Wine 1.1.24 and NVIDIA driver 185.18.14 by replacing
Drivers/dx7z.dll with dx8z.dll (renamed to dx7z.dll) from the following
archive:
http://jeffareid.net/nfs4/spotptch.zip
It gives a lot of artifacts and gamma settings needs to be reset (I used
nvidia-settings for that) to see anything. I got far enough to start driving
and it would probably be fully playable if graphics was ok. Mouse and joystick
input worked out of the box.
Many people seem to have problems with this game on newer Windows systems too
so I'm not sure this will ever be playable on Wine without a rewritten
dx7z.dll.
