Summary: Wine does not support X11 clipboard
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.21
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: tarasov.igor(a)gmail.com
There are 2 clipboards in modern linux distributions. First one is handled by
X11 and another one by DE.
In order to copy into first one you just need to select text. In order to paste
from that clipboard you need to click middle mouse button (wheel).
Second clipboard is managed by DE and in order to access it you use DE-specific
hotkeys, usually ctrl/shift+insert and ctrl+c/v/x.
The later one is supported by wine, so you can easily copy text from wine
applications into linux programs and vice versa.
But the first one, X11 clipboard is not supported at all. This is not just
matter of convenience and ease of use, you can't just select some text and then
middle click it into browser, for instance. The problem is that this sometimes
break some applications.
For instance, take very popular linux dictionary, StarDict. It is very handy,
since you can just simply select some text in any application and translation
pops up. But if you try to do that with any wine application, this won't work.
This makes usage of StarDict very inconvenient.
Also, middle-click is supported by wine, but it's support is incorrect. When
you middle-click into wine application, it does paste text, but not from X11
clipboard (as one might expect) but from DE's one.

If the problem with the font is the use of SYMBOL_CHARSET, is it possible to
just change this value in the file so that Wine will treat it differently? I
don't know how to find the value in the file, but will gladly give that
approach a try if someone can tell me the correct offset.

I read many reports here about troubles whit serial communications devices and
most especific this error:
fixme:comm:set_queue_size insize 0 outsize 0 unimplemented stub
the truth about this is that all applicattions that use mscomm32 in visual
basic 6 give this error the origin; the Buffer control properties this appears
in some delphi applications too, the applications that use sentences read
comm_pure in cases that c language don`t use this property and the fixme
message don`t appear, the buffer control are controlled directly by the system
and in tty --help don`t talk about use this function for this reason when you
invoke the serial port through mscomm the error appears many times this is not
wine system trouble but sometimes this error delays the process to get info in
ports, when you install any application for serial port works properly i make
the test and sometimes i don`t need to create a symlink for ttyS0 the program
runs whitout them, previously register mscomm32.ocx, i can`t offer properly
solution because my only "crazy idea" is make a new mscomm32.ocx whitout
inbuffer and outbuffer because linux systems takes control of this property. In
other case the usb to serial converters can work fine however windows supports
all parity odd, even, mark, space, none when com1 is built in on board, but when
you use a usb converter in windows the parity space doesn`t work same that
linux when you set space parity in linux the data that you get is a empty field
and do you need to set to properly parity however some applications needs a
mandatory space parity especially when use comunications programs, again this
trouble is not part of wine because wine translate properly the program but the
port give the primary control to linux when you test the configuration -F
/dev/ttyS0 linux put more control values that lock the win applications, sorry
if is this too long but i have many days try to understandig this and only
today i can get the info.

I played a bit again.
I started the blacklist race for #15 against the Golf GTI. When the race
started the game crashed. Then I disabled the sound and I was able to complete
the two races.
After this I turned on sound again I was able to complete many races with the
Golf GTI I won from my opponent.
Then I went for #14 with sound. The game crashed. I won this car as well and
was able to drive it with sound.
Error messages are the same as already given here.
I have no clue but I am able to reproduce the crashes 100%...

Summary: MinGW32: unhandled page faults and exceptions
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.57.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ibaldo(a)adinet.com.uy
- install MinGW32 and MSYS.
- go to the MSYS directory.
- wine cmd
- msys.bat (it opens an rxvt or another terminal with bash)
- ld --version
- ld --help
It doesn't display anything on rxvt or the terminal where you are running bash,
and on the console where you started wine the following error appears:
wine: Unhandled page fault on write access to 0x2d656c78 at address 0x7bc42874
(thread 0026), starting debugger...
err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled exception code c0000005 flags 0 addr
0x7bc42874
Running ld directly with Wine works:
- go to the MinGW32 directory.
- cd bin
- wine ld --version
- wine ld --help
Another (more direct) way to reproduce the fault:
- go to the MSYS directory.
- cd bin
- wine start sh (or wineconsole sh)
- cd /mingw/bin
- ./ld --help
- ./ld --version
Instead of ld you may try gcc or dlltool or windres, etc.

Summary: Select All (ctrl+a) does not work in dialogue boxes
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.14
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: sesshomaru_2k3(a)hotmail.com
While using NewsLeecher with Wine v1.1.14 on Ubuntu 8.10 I noticed that in
dialogue boxes the ctrl+a short-cut for select all does not work. The ctrl
button itself works while selecting files however. I then fired up NotePad, and
verified that ctrl+a in the main window selects all written text as expected.
However, in the "Open file" dialog, after clicking in the file name box (to
make it active) ctrl+a does nothing. The same behaviour is noted with the "Save
as" dialogue.
I believe this is a bug relative to dialogue boxes. It would be nice to have it
fixed as I personally enjoy keyboard shortcuts and use this often.
Thank you.

I'm on ubuntu 8.10 with 1.1.17. I installed 1.1.17. with the package of wine

The game is now unplayable, No menu appears and the black screen doesn't
change, but the sounds are good and the mouse icon mouve correctly.
There is a new error in the terminal:
fixme:d3d_surface:surface_convert_format Cannot find a conversion function from

I precise that i played to this game 24 hours ago with 1.1.16 and no problem.
I hope that this error can help to know from what patch is come. I know that i
should run regression tests but i'm not sure to be able to do it well.
If this error is not enough to know, tell me and i'll try to see for regression
tests.

I'm using K-Meleon web browser 1.5.x (2 or 3) and I have made it as default
program for Ubuntu.
I have made a tool to correct link file path from windows to linux to open the
files with linux programs instead of windows programs, and it works great.
I have also made an utility to correct the linux file path, and it works great
too. When I click on an html file (for example), the linux path is transformed
into windows format, and K-Meleon is able to open it.
For now, I'm not unable (for example) to do the same when I click on a link in
a mail opened with Thunderbird (linux version)
The default browsing program has been set to "/opt/Program
Files/K-Meleon/k-meleon.exe" %U I think it's a normal string to allow to pass a
parameter, but when I execute it, K-Meleon opens and try to open %U, and
obviously fails.
In fact, wine doesn't replace %U with the content of the parameter.
Some guys said on forum, that it's not possible, but I don't know why it
wouldn't be possible.
Could it be a feature that had be missed ? I can't believe it ...
Thanks

I have this problem as well.
With certain cars the game crashes even if you rename some dlc.gin files as
mentioned somewhere in the test data.
The races where you have the BMW at the beginning of the career crash
immediately after the start. I disabled sound in winecfg to finish these races.
After the races I re enabled sound and every race worked fine just until the
races with Most Wanted #15. Here the game crashed as well.
Maybe it's related to those challenge races? I will see if I can do some other
black listed races soon.

IMO forcing only one instance severely limits the use of IrfanView. It's
sacrificing functionality for looks.
I posted the workaround because it might lead to an understanding of what
causes the crash in gdi32.

I did 'wineserver -k' on this fail-to-register message and ran manually

Windows, you can press 'CTRL+A' to select the whole path and delete/replace it.
But under Wine, has no effect.

It was already awful with 1.1.7 on Ubuntu 8.04 (saving being a major

usable. I haven't tried MIDI output yet, but even a single track pops
considerably with the Realistic Sound Engine, with the interface lagging
considerably and even freezing when loading the demo track. Also, keyboard
shortcuts don't work, and letters and numbers (as opposed to the notes in other

In CS:S
None of the posted "fixes" fix this for me. I find that if I play on a GG
server with a quick map change time I can play for hours, with occasional
lockups for ~2 seconds.
If I play on de_dust2 the game will crash within 1-5 minutes, regardless of
what I am doing or what is going on in the game, Ive had it crash in a big fire
fight but also during buy mode at the start with 0 shooting etc.
System:
Gentoo x86_64
Intel E2200
2g ram
Nvidia 9800gt, tested drivers 177.82 through 180.37 to no effect.
Alsa, no configuration options help, including turning sound off.
Kernel 2.6.29_rc8.
Wont paste a crash log as its identical to the others posted.

If the win98 mode for hl2.exe seems to fix it, and as I've noticed it uses the
older win9x fonts ingame, then might we just have to have the requisite fonts
that steam uses? Would installing mscorefonts on regular wine fix the problem?
If so, then it would seem we just need a few more free replacements. Correct me
if I'm wrong, but Tahoma Bold is used throughout steam, but the bold style
doesn't seem to be in the tahoma font provided by winehq. The only font I add
myself to my wineprefix is 'lucida console', for the hl2.exe console.
All in all, I would rather not have to install mscorefonts, so should we be
having a discussion focused more on which fonts are suspect?

I could solve the problem under ubuntu jaunty. You have to chose ALSA for audio
output in the systemconfiguration. Then the program does not crash anymore when
you execute it as win98 (hl2.exe).

Summary: missing buttons on toolbar
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.19
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: scallegari(a)arces.unibo.it
Hi,
with recent wine versions (though I would not be able to state exactly which
one showed the problem first), I am experiencing missing buttons on toolbars.
1) The buttons are not missing because of screen estate, there is plenty of
them
2) the buttons are anyway missing at the right edge of the toolbar
------------------------------------------------------------------
|| A1 A2 A3 | B1 B2 | C1 C2 C3 C4 | D1 D2| ||
------------------------------------------------------------------
refer to the figure above and suppose that A1, A2, ..., B1, B2... are buttons
(with their small icon, etc) divided in groups (separated by vertical bars).
There should be 3 more buttons to the right of D2, but they are not displayed
in spite of the fact that there is plenty of space for them.
Interestingly, if you put the mouse cursor on the separation bar to the right
of D2, you get the tooltip for the hidden button D3 and if you click on the
line you get the action of the first hidden button.
As an example application showing the problem, consider the LTSPICE IV circuit
simulator which is available "free as in beer" and is also supportive of wine.
Download it at http://ltspice.linear.com/software/LTspiceIV.exe

Yes, that's why i downloaded the game with the given link on gamershell and ran
it with:
wine .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/WOTRDemo/Rings_Demo.exe
I tested the demo and all the bugs reported, all were gone.
If everything is wrong in the summary, i can't do anything and can't know
before testing the game.
The discussion about the unix paths was 2 years old, ~ 50 wine version; and
since nobody have talked about it. Austin has a bug recently, not me so i
reported it.
And in this case, the given demo works perfectly, i won't check every demo from
everywhere to find the one which doesn't work.
So yes, the bug can be closed or everything should be changed: link for the
demo, title, severity.....

Subject of this bug is misleading, please can someone fix it? Something like

I think this bug can be closed.
I tried with wine 1.1.21
It installed fine and the game was launched without problem. I finished the
demo so everything seems perfect.
The only thing which doesn't work is the file: Setup.exe which crashes but
everything can be setting inside the game so it's not an important bug.

Got excited to see the large number of listview fixes in 1.1.21, however none
of them correct the issue in flashfxp. A clean install of 3.7.8 (3.8 beta)
still does not show remote file listings.
However, the winetricks mentioned in comment #12 solves all issues.

This problem is still exist in the latest wine version.
I have tested this game with latest wine 1.1.21. What I have found that when I
run this game with sound on (winecfg alsa checked) I can play for a few seconds
sometimes for a few minutes varies with the race type. On the other hand when I
play this game with sound off (winecfg alsa unchecked) I can play for a long
times around 10-30 minutes varies with the race type.
On the both times, what we have found that this game crashes causing unhandled
exception.
So, what is the outcome of this test is the problem of this game is not related
to wine's sound system.
My system configuration is: Intel Celeron 3.1 Gz
1 GB RAM
256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GS
UBUNTU 8.10 x86
WINE 1.1.21
terminal output on the both times:
fixme:d3d:state_zfunc D3DCMP_NOTEQUAL and D3DCMP_EQUAL do not work correctly
yet.

Text Editor: Delphi 5 program - pure API without visual components (but uses
richedit32.dll).
It is possible to "paste" a clipboard, but it is not possible co "Cut/Copy" -
so maybe Wine does not allow to recognize the marked block as a text one.
The program does not recognize UNICODE, so works in ASCII.
The description of the program in Russian is at
http://soft.softodrom.ru/ap/p4726.shtml
(however, the version I attach has an English localization).
The program has a string calculator, scripts for string conversion,
user-determined multi-replace depending on the extension etc.
With best wishes and thanks,

I have tested TeamViewer 4.1.6080 with wine 1.1.20 and added to the database
here:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=16542
When running the File Transfer, it connects and pop up the commander window and
turn me an error in a window:
*****************************************************************
Program Error
The Program TeamViewer.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
This can be caused by a problem in the program or a deficiency in Wine. You may
want to check http://appdb.winehq.org for tips about running this application.
If the problem is not present under Windows and has not been reported yet, you
can report it at http://bugs.winehq.org .
***************************************************************
I have tested with the last version of wine 1.1.21 and the same think. I put an
attachment with the output of Teamviewer when trying to connect with the File
Transfer.

All in all, I would rather not have to install mscorefonts, so should we be
having a discussion focused more on which fonts are suspect?

thanks, the "Client side fix/hack (HUD modification to lower font size)" patch
solves my headshot problem. maybe we could add this problem to the description
of this bug (7698), to make it clearer for other people like me who may open
new bugs even after having read the description this one :p

This is still happening in wine-1.1.18 on:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83GHz
NVidia GeForce 8600 GTS

I could solve the problem under ubuntu jaunty. You have to chose ALSA for audio
output in the systemconfiguration. Then the program does not crash anymore when
you execute it as win98 (hl2.exe).

crash log w/ wine 1.1.21
Still an issue with 1.1.21 on fresh wineprefix. the intro itself works, but
afterwards it crashes, leaving a blank black screen.
Because of "err:x11settings:X11DRV_ChangeDisplaySettingsEx No matching mode
found 1600x1200x16 @0! (desktop)" I tried executing it after setting wine to
emulate a virtual desktop, but to no use - the problem does not change, even
this line itself is still there.

This bug report is being submitted for the game Velvet Assassin
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=16492&iTesting…
The game can only be played by first installing the Nvidia PhysX System
Software http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx_9.09.0408_whql.html
If not installed the game gives the following error:
-----------------------------

Message: Failed to init AQgeia physics SDK
[ ABORT ] [ RETRY] [ IGNORE]
-----------------------------
None of the buttons can be clicked on.
Can wine bypass the SDK check and thus get this working without installing the
Nvidia SDK?
Also it might be useful to note that this game has the classic "blank screen"
problem with ATi hardware.

Note that this bug affects _cputs and _cprintf in Wine's MSVCRT, which call
WriteConsoleA for console applications, and hence the output of abort() and

Summary: Screen flickers when starting wine with fglrx
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0.1
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: tdhutt(a)gmail.com
Hi, whenever I run wine with fglrx the screen flickers for about 20 seconds and
the UI crawls to a halt.
The flickering looks like thick horizontal black bars and I strongly suspect is
some kind of monitor probing. The same bars appear on a different windows
computer on the second monitor (so it is probably nothing to do with wine). The
same thing happens when I run the catalyst control centre (but it only takes
about 5 seconds).
I'm guessing, but I expect that this bug is being cause by wine unnecessarily
asking X for some display info, and fglrx taking ages to work stuff out.
I have the UseFastTLS option already set in my xorg.conf.
This is with Ubuntu 9.04.

Trying to run Matrix Games' redux from the original TalonSoft Campaign Series
(west front, east front and rising sun in a single package) I stubble on a
reproducible crasher bug.
The game is oddly organized using a main program for campaign management. this
is actually working unfortunately the game crashes as the real game binary is
triggered. This is —as far I can compare— happening when the binary tries
to change Windows' window manager color from current value to some military
green (as in my windows environment). The application use afaik no 3D engine.
That's a crude windows 2D strategy game.
The game is sale there :
http://www.matrixgames.com/products/318/details/John.Tiller%27s.Campaign.Se…
I both tried vanilla and last patch installation (1.04) experimenting the same
problem.
There is unfortunately no demo available, as far as I know, but I can provide a
game copy and license if needed.
Please ask me anything you need in order to help you, i'd be glad to help !

Reduce .desktop file to application/x-msdos-executable and application/x-msi
Our desktop file is too greedy. I think I wrote it a while back off a list of
every possible mime type a .exe file can have from somewhere on the internet;
this resulted in entries like x-zip-compressed and x-executable. This results
in the side effect that Wine now tries to open shell scripts and zip files on
many systems.
On modern systems we can rely on shared-mime-info to correctly identify
executables as application/x-msdos-executable, so we only need that MIME type
for .exe.
So, I suggest we reduce our .desktop file to two mime types:
application/x-msdos-executable and application/x-msi. The attached patch fixes
this.
This still leaves the possibility of not opening .com, .bat, or similar files,
however that's already broken and is a bug in shared-mime-info to be fixed
there. Moreover, there's a slight chance of the reverse possibility - a .exe
file that isn't a Wine executable file. I don't think that's our bug either
though - again a problem in shared-mime-info.

I found a game, that didn't run with builtin xinput1_3,
but run with native xinput1_3 and d3dx9_36.
After much testing and seeing a strange difference
between relay on builtin and snoop on native,
I took a guess and changed the order of functions in spec file.
That worked, but the more correct way is probably
giving proper ordinals:
2 stdcall XInputGetState(long ptr)
3 stdcall XInputSetState(long ptr)
4 stdcall XInputGetCapabilities(long long ptr)
5 stdcall XInputEnable(long)
6 stdcall XInputGetDSoundAudioDeviceGuids(long ptr ptr)
7 stdcall XInputGetBatteryInformation(long ptr ptr)
8 stdcall XInputGetKeystroke(long long ptr)
That works too, game no longer needs native xinput1_3.
It still needs native d3dx9_36, as D3DXCheckTextureRequirements
is not implemented.

Summary: DVD Shrink does not recognize NTFS partitions - creates
MDS instead of ISO files
Product: WineHQ Apps Database

Component: appdb-unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: werner.avenant(a)gmail.com
Hi Guys
Since version 1.1.18 DVD Shrink does not recognise NTFS partitions anymore. By
design the program will go ahead and split the DVD over 4x 1GB files (ie
MOVIE.I00, MOVIE.I01, MOVIE.I02) and create an MDS file to "link" the files
together. It does this because it thinks the underlying filesystem does not
support files bigger than 2Gb.
The problem is that exiting linux tools to read/convert this MDS file simply
does not work (I did try mdf2iso - didn't recognise the file).
Even though everything works, it technically speaking makes DVD Shrink unusable
since it is impossible to do something with the MDS file.
I can confirm that the problem did not exist in Wine 1.1.15 - DVD shrink
created ISO files as expected.
Hope this helps
Werner

The well-known Torrent client application uTorrent gained IPv6 support in

instead of the literal IPv6 address for peers.
According to http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=363137#p363137
uTorrent uses the WSAAddressToStringA function to format the address to a
string. Looking into dlls/ws2_32/socket.c it's pretty obvious that the wine
version only supports AF_INET (IPv4).
Please support AF_INET6 in that function.

Tested FEAR 1.08 with the ARB backend and noticed the console filling with:
fixme:d3d_draw:drawStridedFast >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_OPERATION (0x502)
from glDrawElements @ drawprim.c / 224
Reason seems to be that a multitude of the pixelshaders the game tries to
compile are incorrectly translated by wined3d:
fixme:d3d_shader:shader_arb_generate_pshader HW PixelShader Error at position
1758: "line 76, column 11: error: invalid operand variable\n"
The main problems seems to be the RCP opcode which pops up in company with an
Ax (A0. A1, etc.) register. Sadly no such Ax is ever declared in the fragment
shader.
Example:
RCP R0.w, A1.w;
As far as I can see it's really only the RCP opcode and nothing else. There a
lot pixelshaders that fail compilation but it's always because of something
like in the example.

Summary: Quicken 2007 Home & Business crashes with X Error
"BadLength"
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.14
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: tim(a)filmchicago.org
OS: Ubuntu 8.10
Wine: 1.1.14 installed using the WineHQ APT repository for Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid
Machine: Dell Latitude D800, 1.5GB RAM, 40GB HD, Nvidia Geforce Go5200
I have installed Quicken 2007 Home & Business. The installation went fine and
the application starts up; however, when Quicken attempts to open a data file,
it crashes with the error:
"X Error of failed request: BadLength (poly request too large or internal Xlib
length error)
Major opcode of failed request: 155 (RENDER)
Minor opcode of failed request: 20 (RenderAddGlyphs)
Serial number of failed request: 27942
Current serial number in output stream: 28247"
Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Quicken 2007 Home & Business
2. Use the updater during the install process to update Quicken to the latest
version.
3. After the install completes, start Quicken with Wine.
4. At the Welcome screen, select "I am new to Quicken"
5. Use the default file name and location for the data file.
6. When Quicken creates the data file, Quicken will crash and close with no
warning dialogues.
-This error also occurs if you select "I am already a Quicken user" at the
Welcome screen and attempt to load a pre-existing Quicken data file.
Observing the output of WINEDEBUG with Trace enabled, it is obvious that
Quicken successfully loads and reads the data file. The crash appears to occur
when Quicken attempts to draw the main application once the data has been
loaded.
The file "Quicken_Short_Log.txt" contains the output of just running Quicken
with:
"wine qw.exe"
I'll upload a longer trace log later, but I seem to have misplaced it at the
moment.

- Incorrect behaviour when setting a new text size

The symptoms occur on Windows and Reactos, some only occur when UNICODE is

Summary: The virtual desktop should be resizable
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: wine-tools
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: thedamocles(a)gmail.com
When running using a virtual desktop, Wine create a window with a fixed size
(for example 640x480). And when the application running requires another
resolution, the size of the virtual desktop changes.
But the window itself (which contains the virtual desktop) is unmaximisable and
unresizable. For some old games that require an old resolution it would be
convenient to be able to resize and maximise the window of the virtual desktop.
The virtual desktop itself (inside the window) should just be put in the center
of the window with some black border. Only the window should resizable.
Then, we could be able to run application with a false fullscreen resolution
with the virtual desktop in the center of the screen using (for example) the
function "toggle fullscreen mode" of Gnome.
It would even be better to add an option "Run Fullscreen" to the virtual
desktop of winecfg to run this false fullscreen. The expected result being to
have a black screen in front of everything (panel, other windows) and the
virtual desktop put in the center.

Hello,
that specific .msi package version in question is 3 years old ... many newer
package versions have been fixed for this specific issue.
That package was most likely built with a bugged msi engine.
"InstallAllUsers" = "True" -> resulting msi package had "ALLUSERS" property =
"2"
This is incorrect if the msi package contained VC++ runtime merge modules
because shared installations of WinSxS components can only be done per-machine
bases.
Although an msi packager issue it still exposes a valid Wine msi bug ;-)
--- snip ---
0021:trace:msi:ACTION_CallDllFunction calling L"CustomAction_SxsMsmInstall"

...

completed 3: 0 4: -2147467263 ")
...

--- snip ControlEvent table ---
CustomizeDlg Next [ALLUSERS] 2 VersionNT>=400 AND Privileged=1
2
--- snip ControlEvent table ---
--- snip Property table ---
ALLUSERS 2
--- snip Property table ---
As already said, the package contains a merge module (msm) flagged as
per-machine only installable.
Because the "ALLUSERS" property is not "1", the SxS custom action correctly
refuses to proceed further.
When "ALLUSERS" property is "2", Wine msi must check user's privileges for
administrative rights.
If the user is administrator (true in Wine), it will be a per-machine (all
users) install and the property must be (re)set by msi from "2" to "1".
See: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa367559.aspx

"Move child objects" option moves all objects in an app version to another
version, but it would be useful for app maintainers to move single test
results, as some are added to the wrong version.
For example:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=8235&iTestingI…
would do better to be moved to
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=15685
because of bug 16543 giving one version a platinum rating and another a garbage
rating.
There are many other examples, and this would save having to reject the test
and asking the tester to resubmit to the correct version.

The output of the console when I ran the game from it.
When I cd into the Combat Arms directory, installed in a ntfs partition, and
run [$ wine Engine.exe] through the console, the console throws some output and
then debugs.
First, when I set nothing for the executable on winecfg, it didn't want to
return a debug log. I read it said to try with winnt4. It crashed again but
with debugging. Anyway, the game doesn't run on nt4 so I tried windows vista.
The same thing happened.

Problem screenshot
Problem with display of application through with Ubuntu 9.04 OS. This did not
occur with 8.04 OS.
Basically, the screen will look ok, we hit TAB which normally shifts to the
next cell in the application (MYOB), but the majority of the screen goes pitch
black and you can still select options and have full functionaility but you
need to know where to click, etc. The black area changes if you hit TAB key
again. So its randomn.
Modifying the screen resolution and refresh rate has no impact but does change
the colour of the affected area (eg grey, purple rather than black), but you
still cannot see anything in the affected area.
RANDOMN FIX THAT DOESN:T ALWAYS WORK: Sometimes it can be temporarily fixed by
clicking the minimize box in the top right, but then it may not work again when
hitting TAB key
I have 2 screenshots for you - 1 how it should show and the second showing the
problem.
I could only work out how to attach one, so ive put the problem screenshot for
you.
THanks for your help on this, and I want to say also, GREAT application, well
done!

Upgrading from Ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10 caused this. The only relevant difference I
can spot in the Wine package is that it went from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1, however I
suspect that the problem here is some underlying library. But which one?

log to segfault with warn+all
After changing / loading zones several times, City of Heroes segfaults. I
don't think it's happening for everybody, but it's repeatable on two different
systems of mine (and at least one other user in the appdb). I'm not entirely
sure how to help debug this - running debug with +relay never makes it to the
login screen (or at least for the amount of time I've waited). I ran it with
warn+all and that's attached, but I don't know how useful that is.
It always segfaults while the game is outputting to the console "loading
novodex shapes"
Steps to recreate:
1. Load City of Heroes from the launcher or via CityOfHeroes.exe -project coh
2. Load any character and change zones / enter missions / etc several times (it
seems to happen villain side much more frequently - usually only takes about 4
or 5 loading screens - possibly because the zones are more graphics saturated?)
3. Segfault
System specs (both my laptop and desktop are similar):
Ubuntu 8.10, Intel c2d, 4gb RAM, Nvidia 7600 GT (laptop has some mobile Nvidia
8xxx), Nvidia driver version 180.11

Still crashes when using DX6 based plug-in – other plug-ins tested:
-JoboD3D8 1.6 – works fine, however sometimes it doesn't stretch to whole
window, just stays in small window area, reason unclear
- Newest Rice Plugin (Aristotle video.dll) – fails to load, complains about
missing MSVCP90.dll , even thou I placed it in plug-in folder.
-Glide64 “NAPALM” 1.0 – works pretty well, however we need to either set
offscreenrendering to fbo AND set wrapper to use Frame Buffer Objects, or set
wrapper not to use additional buffers – otherwise it will crash on startup.
Tested with wine-1.1.20 on Debian Lenny-x86, with hardware:
-Nvidia Georce9800GT (driver 180.51)
-Core2Duo E7200
-4GB RAM

Output of wine on a crash (might be incomplete since i had to reboot after
crash)
on my laptop (lenovo w500) EVE online in wine is freezing the whole computer
regulary just after character select (probably just before game switches to 3d
display). i get the progress bar for loading station and then its a chance that
it freezes.
the freeze just happens on that position once i am in game everything works and
i never seen these freezes after that, but if it happens then the complete
computer is not reacting to anything anymore (only mouse pointer is still
moving), but click or keyboard events are no longer registered (cannot switch
to console, and even the shutdown with powerbutton is not reacting) so i can
only reset and reboot.
this freeze happened with different versions of wine (tried it with 1.17-1.19
and with current version from git, all using patches from
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17437 to show the 3d models).
it also happened with ati catalyst versions 9.2-9.4.

I tested the GRE Powerprep software on wine 1.1.20. Clicking on "Practice
Questions" and "Practice Tests" does not crash wine. However, instead the
software will popup an error box saying "Error launching TDA, Code = 2". So,
although the crash does not happen, the software is still not usable.
I do not remember what version (probably at or after wine 1.0), but I used this
software with wine and it DID work reasonably correctly. The only problem was
during the practice tests the pictures would not display.

Hello,
Recently I've installed new Fedora 11 64-bit. On this system everything in 3D
works fine (starting from glxgears ending on Sauerbraten). WINE D3D apps don't
work at all, show this error message:
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for
operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 128 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 3 (X_GLXCreateContext)
Value in failed request: 0x21
Serial number of failed request: 467
Current serial number in output stream: 467
2D apps work properly (eg. winecfg). WINE was compiled without gphoto2 support,
every other dependency was satisfied. WINE was compiled as a 32-bit app in
64-bit system.
I am putting this as Major, because F11 ships with the new X-Server and I
believe this is the problem here - it affects wide range of applications if
user is using most recent xserver. No problems with 3d acceleration though
(sauerbraten works). glxinfo shows direct rendering: yes.

I don't see where this information from RCC can help us here.
I thought that we agreed that the problem is how NaN are mapped when written to
the color output register. As far as I can see rcp doesn't clamp his result.
That's in agreement with the D3D8 docs.

Summary: Adobe Photoshoop CS4 installer fails
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.6
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Keywords: Installer
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: shdocvw
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
With today's wine from git, three problems keep photoshop cs4 from installing.
First, it downloads gecko, but hangs afterwards; you have to ^C and
restart the installer.
Second, dialogs are often painted with three-quarters of the content missing,
and the remaining quarter misplaced. Moving the dialog offscreen and back
on usually fixes this. So this is both a showtopper for the
average user and a cosmetic problem.
Third, the very first dialog that is shown is mostly blank. Jacek
knows why: our gecko engine is out of date, and can't handle negative
values on some css properties. He came up with a simple workaround:
when this happens, kill the installer (with wineserver -k),
then edit
.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Common
Files/Adobe/Installers/d6da2ba33e237f559e70b443726029b/resources/media/css/main.css
and replace the line
z-index:-10;
with the line
z-index:0;
That's easy to do by cd'ing into .wine and applying the attached
patch with "patch -p0".
After that, the installer runs successfully to completion.
(It uses 350MB of RSS; anyone know how much RAM it uses on Windows?)

Not sure, the version of wine (1.1.20) from winehq for Ubuntu jaunty always
crashes (I haven't had time to debug it yet).

Summary: Recent kernel32 patch breaks CD checks and copy
protection
Product: Wine
Version: CVS/GIT
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Keywords: regression
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: kernel32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ben(a)atomnet.co.uk
Some (many) games have now stopped working, showing the following when trying
to run:
[enverex@Xenith ../Winedows/Games/Starcraft]$ wine StarCraft.exe
fixme:ntoskrnl:KeInitializeTimerEx 0x110ab0 0
fixme:fiber:FlsAlloc 0x15008bba: stub!
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk "storm.dll" failed to initialize, aborting
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for
L"C:\\Games\\Starcraft\\StarCraft.exe" failed, status c0000142
The layout is the same for each one, i.e. Battlefield 2 fails the same way, but
instead with MSCVRT7.1.dll instead of Storm.dll (but other than that the
message is identical).
Dimity's test (which fixed this) was to comment out lines starting Fls*
(FlsAlloc etc.) in the kernel32.spec file before compiling.
