Using Wine 53, EVE gets the entire side of the cube (displaying on top of
gnome-panels thus hiding it, this is the wanted behavior). in Wine 54 and 55 it
does not cover gnome-panels.
I have tried setting fullscreen rule for the EVE window in compiz but it does
not take effect.

Next stop on my mission to get wine to compile and pass make test on all

released a new build today that seems to work better, but I'll tackle that
next), I gave Nexenta a try. It's a derivative of Ubuntu using the OpenSolaris
kernel...should be an interesting test case.
For anyone interested in testing, I'll setup a wiki page in a bit.

This is not a bug, it is a suggestion, I putted it here because I did not
founded a possibility to submit a new TODO request.
My idea is to implement, or to integrate an existing crash reporting tool, that
will collect relevant crash informations about the wine and will give to the
user the possibility to submit bug report.
This tool can improve considerably the quality of bug reports, that will help
developers to quickly identify, reproduce and to solve the problem. It is clear
that not all users now exactly what informations should be reported, that will
help developers to solve the problem.

supply my username (and psexec should prompt for password) i get:
$ wine psexec.exe '\\10.0.0.222' -u Admin "notepad.exe"

Couldn't access 10.0.0.222:

You actually see the Password promt in the log there but i do not stop there,
it just continues on with the fixme and "Access denied" and throws you back to
the command line.
It seems like it is the same network fixme as the original poster had.

Summary: Photoshop CS4 installer asks to install gecko when
Wine run from a different folder
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.11
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Keywords: download
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: kennybobs(a)o2.co.uk
Summary might not make much sense, so hopefully I can explain it.
This doesn't just affect CS4, I have seen it with other apps but can't remember
what they are as I have just ignored it up to now.
Basically, if I run "wine setup.exe", then gecko is detected and loaded.
If I run "~/wine-git/wine setup.exe" or "/opt/wine-1.0.1/bin/wine setup.exe"
then the gecko downloader pops up and wants to download gecko. It is, of
course, already installed. In the case of the CS4 setup, it then just hangs.
An old wineserver is not running, there are no orphaned processes and ~/.wine
is clean.
Workaround is to run "wine winecfg" (the Wine that is "installed" in the
distro), close it, and run the other wine ("~/wine-git/wine setup.exe").
It would appear the "installed" Wine creates the necessary registry entries,
but the "other" Wines will not.
I hope that makes sense!

successfully, but it could be great to have this small app in WINE.

Also, if I click on preview, I see my preview, but just the beginning of it,
first 10 lines, and in the edit box, I just have the 10 first line too.

The AppDB front page shows a version of WoW that is obsolete as a Gold rating.
I believe this is because the page is generated via the number of votes users
place against an app, and doesn't take into account whether the version is no
longer live.
This is a self-feeding issue, as people will come to the page and place votes
against the version they see (people are lazy), not what they actually use -
thus further feeding it's high-vote count and leaving it on the front page.
>From email discussion with Alexander Sørnes and Chris Morgan:
Alexander:
How is the following:
We add an 'obsolete' checkbox on the version edit page, with a help text
explaining that this should be used in cases where the version can no longer
be used because it depends on connecting to a server etc.
When a user checks this, he is asked which version its votes should be moved
to, and it is no longer possible to vote for that version.

Ubuntu users are selecting any version they feel like when sending test
results.
The majority are still using 1.0.1 because that's what's in the Ubuntu
repository. This is the version that is designated "stable" after all.
Having to reject a lot of test results for this.
Given the latest Wine is 1.1.22 at WineHQ, and the latest in Ubuntu is 1.0.1,
I'm finding it hard to believe they are all using 1.1.17.
This obviously invalidates the test results a bit, as regressions could be
missed until the next "stable" release.

Whenever I fetch the latest wine source (that is, whenever there is a new
version), after doing the usual steps and finishing with "sudo make install", I
have a strange problem: Uru - Complete Chronicles crashes as soon as the
program launcher window appears. Directly starting the main game (without the
launcher) still works fine. I suspected the gecko engine of being at fault, and
indeed removing c:/window/gecko fixes the issue (of course, the HTML rendering
in the launcher does not work any longer then). When I let wine install the
engine again, the problem comes back. I have no other application using the
gecko HTML engine so I can not test if it is a problem specific to this game.
I have that issue since I updated my system to Kubuntu 9.04. The update to wine
1.1.21 was the first one I had this problem with, but strange enough, it
somehow fixed itself. Now with 1.1.22, I have the issue again, and could not
yet fix it (perhaps the next reboot will bring that). I have no clue if it can
somehow be that there are still old versions of some libraries used and some
linking cache has to be updated - "sudo make uninstall && sudo make install"
did not help.

After installing QuickTime 7.2.0.240 using the winetricks script,
I tried playing an RTP stream by selecting "Open by URL" and
entering the URL ("http://localhost/test.sdp").
This caused my Xserver to crash. This problem is reproducable, in other words,
it crashes my Xserver every time I try to access http://localhost/test.sdp.
I can play video files directly with QuickTime without any crashes. There are
some other unrelated issues, involving one of my two screens of my dual-screen
setup apparently being overdrawn in black, which I can "clean"/"get redrawn" by
moving my cursor around.

Ay you can see below, I have the problem that the newsbook reader "TomeRaider3"
(v3.3.9, newest at the moment) crashes on startup.
The log.txt is atached.
I also made a backtrace with the command "WINEDEBUG=+relay,+seh,+tid wine

Megabyte, because of that i didnt attach it. If you are interested, I can

As far as I can see, '$shtdwn$.reg' is not prefixed with a dot or anything, so
that can't be the problem here... Right?

The problem is the installer expects the file to be hidden, in the Windows way,
e.g., not a '.', but given the hidden attribute, which Wine does not support.

You said:

I thought this was the way Wine does it now :)
What about this: Wine gets (for case insensitivity) a solution like ciopfs: all
files are stored in lower case, and then Wine keeps a database file (sqlite or
so?) containing the original filename and other non-ext properties, like
whether they are hidden. Using SQLite, it wouldn't be too slow; Wine doesn't
need to read all files in the directory since the files are lowercase.
It only needs to search if the lowercase file does not exist, in which case it
does search and if it finds a file, it renames it to lowercase and adds it to
the database to speed up future searches; this is necessary to merge from older
Wine versions. This solution will only be noticeably slow when an application
continuously asks for a non-existent file; and it will be just as slow as the
old Wine solution. It will also be backwards compatible, only older versions of
Wine will not return the original filename but the lower case one (since they
search the whole directory anyway).
Any objections, except that SQLite support is needed?

You forgetting that Wine doesn't have it's own FS. Nothing prevents a program
outside of Wine to copy a file into "C:".
Also what about the rest of the root file system (/)?
This can only be supported for files created from within Wine. The actual
attributes can be stored in the special hidden file in the same directory
(preferred) or the globally (not portable).

That's only a real problem as far as that program only writes lowercased
files... I think that's an acceptable thing, isn't it?
> Also what about the rest of the root file system (/)?
It would just work like wine works now; readdir() I guess. :)
> This can only be supported for files created from within Wine. The actual

Ok. I agree the main flaw in the idea (the fact that from outside wine, the
case insensitivity isn't enforced) makes it a no-go. I could implement this
special hidden file support (or even generally, extra file flag support) in
Wine, but it may take a moment since I'm totally not accustomed to Wine's
source, I've never seen a bit of it.
If there's anything I should read about the plans related to this before I
start, please drop me some links and I'll get coding. (that's apart from the
normal stuff a beginning Wine developer should read, I can find those on my own
;) )

This code appears in several bugs. I don't have the ability to combine them
all into one bug report:
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_CreateSwapChain The app requests more than one
back buffer, this can't be supported properly. Please configure the application
to use double buffering(=1 back buffer) if possible
I just updated a different bug with this phrase in it for dOOm.

Ricochet Xtreme works great on Wine 1.1.17.
However there is a bit of a glitch which occurs: When sprites move too quickly
they leave seem to leave a trail. This may have to do with triple buffering.
Here is some output from my console:

As far as I can see, '$shtdwn$.reg' is not prefixed with a dot or anything, so
that can't be the problem here... Right?

The problem is the installer expects the file to be hidden, in the Windows way,
e.g., not a '.', but given the hidden attribute, which Wine does not support.

Trying to run "wine DungeonRunners.exe nopatch ran_from_launcher" which is how
you normally start it, makes the app crash with repeated error messages about
"unhandled page fault"
This error also existed in 1.1.21 I then figured I would see how far back it
went.
I used PlayOnLinux to easily download and test each separate wine version in
its own prefix and found that the bug appeared in wine 1.1.17 first as Dungeon
Runners worked great up until that release. It crashes from 1.1.17 on up.
I then tried to do a regression test between 1.1.16 and 1.1.17 and found
nothing..I could not get the bug to reproduce during the regression test.

ICQ 6.x needs DCOM98. Unfortunately, the native rpcrt4.dll does not implement
I_RpcExceptionFilter and causes an unhandled exception. Therefore the builtin
rpcrt4.dll is needed.
With the builtin rpcrt4.dll, however, the installer simply hangs, eventually
reports an error and exits.

The test looks good, except the following things:
1. nbytes is not used, remove it from TEST_OBSOLETE_FLAGS structure
2. make globalflags use symbolic names like flags does
3. Add the test for GlobalAlloc() return value
4. Either remove GlobalLock() call, or add a GlobalUnlock() call.
5. 'static' in the pGlobalFlags declaration is redundant
6. Use consistent braces/indentation style
7. Don't add an empty line at the end of the test

test passing in some flags
Here's my $00.2 for what its worth.
I followed Paul Vriens' suggestion to pass in various flag combinations, see
attached test. These tests pass fine on winXP.
>From what I can see from the tests you cannot remove the following flags:
GMEM_SHARE, GMEM_DDESHARE and GMEM_DISCARDABLE. This will make the test fail.
As for the flags GMEM_LOWER, GMEM_NOCOMPACT, GMEM_NOTBANKED, and GMEM_NOTIFY:
They are either removed by GlobalAlloc on windows, or GlobalFlags just can't
detect them (see for example
http://techref.massmind.org/techref/os/win/api/win32/func/src/f43_16.htm ,
there are only three flags listed there)
In either way, as you said they are never used in wine's code , just remove
them i'd say.
As for GMEM_NODISCARD, i havent got a clue. My guess would be that GlobalFlags
does not check presence of this flag, anyway, i don't think there's a way to
test if the flag is removed in GlobalAlloc, or Globalflags doesn't detect it.
I'd say just don't remove it.
So my suggestion would be remove GMEM_LOWER, GMEM_NOCOMPACT, GMEM_NOTBANKED,
and GMEM_NOTIFY. Then your bug is fixed.

Communication is at the USB level, not the file mount level.

A lot of work has been done on copy/paste recently. Is this still a problem
with latest Wine?

Summary: Call of Cthulhu: Slow and jerky mouse movement
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.58.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: directx-dinput
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: vkojouharov(a)gmail.com
In Call of Cthulhu (
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=3981 ), the
mouse movement in the main (or any other) menu, as well as the inventory
system, is extremely slow and jerky. When moving the mouse, the cursor will not
move, but after a second or two, will teleport somewhere in the intended
directory.
This is actually a regerssion. Prior to 0.9.56, the mouse was slow, but with
0.9.56, the problem was fixed. With 0.9.57 however, the problem was
resurrected, and it is still present in 0.9.58.
p.s. This is not related to the same bug, but I don't know whether I should
file a new bug for this. The same game is at least twice as slow, as compared
to Vista. Furthermore, the texture on the skybox looks like an extremely
compressed jpeg picture of a sky, with only a few colors (in windows, the
skybox looks fine).

I've tested this on Windows 2008 and it also crashes when attempting to go to
google.com (redirects to google.com.au for me) as well as a majority of other
websites.
I also installed mosaic 3.0 in Windows 95, attempting to go to google.com loops
endlessly and no page is displayed.
I suspect Mosaic is just buggy and doesn't understand webservers of today.
