Summary: ElsterFormular 2008/2009 (v10.0.0.0): startup fails with
an error message
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.13
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

When I try to start the latest version of ElsterFormular (10.0.0.0), the
program throws an error message at me. It's impossible to continue from there.
This is rather sad, as ElsterFormular is the official tool to file tax
applications in Germany :(
After I install vcrun6 via winetricks, the program starts OK and is mostly
useable.
ElsterFormular can be downloaded from the official website at
https://www.elster.de/elfo_down3.php?who=2008/2009
(You have to accept the license terms at the bottom right.)

These symbols should be hidden somehow so that they don't risk colliding with

ODBC implementation exports yylex at least.

OK. It's not completely random. When the GNUTLS ERROR statements come up, it
goes offline. However, when these statements appear seems to be rather random.

With wine 1.1.15 mouse input in ryzoms character selection is imposible (at
least in window mode). The cursor is shown but I can't click buttons.
A revert to git 3743a1a7ca170c765cd779c61b9e362c5b1c5203 or the attached patch
works for me.

I can confirm that on a 64 bit Lenny, downloading Wine 1.1.15 (you have to add
the repository) and setting the dinput key to 'force' fixes the problem! At
least on Unreal Tournament 2004.
Also: I tried forcing the key on version 1.0.1.1 or whatever. (the highest
Lenny showed normally) Didn't work at all for Unreal Tournament 2004. I even
tried disabling it, it didn't affect Deus Ex, an Unreal engine game which DID
grab the mouse properly. And UT2004 didn't work normally with the updated Wine
- it had to have both the update AND the force key.
Good luck, hope this helps.
P.S. to be specific, my problem was the "mouse gets stuck when it reaches the
edge of screen"

Now it makes sense, not enough volunteers that know printing, if I knew

Well, I guess I will just have to stick to using Sun VirtualBox, I kind of
doubt this bug is ever going to be fixed, unless wine becomes so perfect that
this bug actually becomes a priority?

Starcraft is painting from what's underneath it
Something interesting I've found is that if I have another windows app (like
winecfg) open, it will be partially visable in BNet (see attached screenshot).
Another interesting note is that when closing OUT of Bnet, the other Windows
app will have focus, and the multiplayer selection screen will NOT be drawn
until you click it, and even then it will only paint over where your mouse goes
(damaged areas).

The wine_gecko download hangs when it is started by some programs other than
iexplore. I have experienced this in many different versions of iTunes when
accessing the help documentation. It also occurs in Framemaker 8 as documented
in bug 9658.
The current workaround is to run 'wine iexplore http://winehq.org' which
succeeds in downloading and installing wine_gecko.
I wanted to avoid logging this bug by changing the summary of bug 9658 to make
it more generic but I couldn't find a way to change tho summary. Although this
bug was logged after bug 9658, I think that bug 9658 is the duplicate because
the behavior is not specific to Framemaker8. I apologize if this bug should not
have been logged.

I run opensource FAR (http://www.farmanager.com/opensource.php?l=en) in
console, using "user" backend:
wineconsole --backend=user d:/far/Far.exe
When I use alt-tab to change focus to another window (I use fluxbox 1.1.1 +
bbkeys 0.9.1) and then alt-tab to change focus back to console window with FAR,
the window does not respond to keyboard (seems some problem with keyboard
focus, perhaps wrong widget inside the window gains the focus?). If I change
focus using the mouse (by clicking inside the window), keyboard works fine,
same as if I click into the window after alt-tabbing it.
This bug prevent from using only keyboard to change focus to wine console
windows, requiring to use mouse each time you need to switch windows.

Wine is a volunteer project, most developers work on what interest them. There
are tons of fixes going in for non-game stuff, e.g.,
crypt32/richedit/comdlg32/mshtml/etc.
Donations are always appreciated, but unfortunately as a volunteer project,
it's hard to guarantee results. Printing is an area of wine that hasn't seen
much work lately...perhaps Detlef's been busy?

Priority amongst volunteers is usually whatever people want to work on.
The purpose of donations is described here:
http://www.winehq.org/contributing#wpf
"The purpose of the Wine Development Fund is to show appreciation to Wine
developers by collecting funds for developer meetings, such as Wine
Conferences, or in some cases to purchase documentation."

Sorry, I didn't realize they were distinct. It's a sort-of workaround for
Office 2007 then.
Regardless, I second this being a dup of bug 15211, since the equation editor
is not the only thing that doesn't work - none of the OLE objects work (Charts,
etc).

ReportedBy: galtgendo(a)o2.pl
Frankly, I'm not sure whether it's a bug in wine,
problem with xorg-server 1.5.3 or problem with
xf86-video-ati, but let's start here.
I'm reporting it as a bug against 1.1.13,
but IIRC it happened a few versions ago.
It did work at some point, as I don't recall
having this problem when I was filling bug 14627.
So now the problem:
if I expand enough branches in the treeview of regedit,
both text and the expanding "+" on the treeview turns
black (usually on the branches below the expanded,
but sometimes also above it). If I collapse the branch and
re-expand it, it gets redrawn correctly. It gets redrawn
correctly also if I move the window offscreen for a moment,
but not if I simply move it on the screen.
xf86-video-ati is set to EXA.

Apparently there are no issues with previous versions of Wine with this as it
has a Platinum status, so this might be a regression.
When trying to run the MafiaSetup.exe file to install the game, absolutely
nothing happens. When ran via 'wine MafiaSetup.exe' in the terminal it just
spins the HD for a few seconds and then goes to a new line like it's finished.

I see the patches for the New Folder button didn't get in. Is it known why?
Maybe it's because this patch uses the Wine ISFHelper. I've checked that under
Windows, the New Folder button queries for the IStorage of the folder. Thus,
the most elegant way would be to add this interface to the Dektop/filesystem
folders and use it there.

As a side note, I was able to work around this issue by opening QuickTime

I don't think this case is a bug actually. It looks like it just draws images
very slowly comparing with native. I've tested it on XP and it has same flicker
too but draws much faster.
Try a current app version from 4 feb 2008.

It is fixed for my sample attachment, but sadly not fixed in the original code.
The only difference i can see is that my original code has so many tabs that
they are in multiple rows.
I can come up with a new example that works in Windows but not in Wine.
Do you want to reopen this, or i file a new report?

Than you for testing :-)
The slowness, as also the colors problems are due to only partial (and
unoptimized) blitting.... were foreseen and I'm working on it.
Missing text is a bit more complicated, but I've noticed it too, that one will
be next step.
I think I'll post a new version in few days, I'm extending blitting and
polishing a bit all stuffs.
Ciao

running "wine iexplorer.exe file.html" but with no avail, the screen is blank.
I've installed gecko (0.9.1) using winetricks on clean "./wine". I had also
tried with ie6 installed using winetricks but the result is the same.
The bug prevents user of AutoCAD to register product because iexplorer.exe
doesn't display content of the html's with registration steps, which are on
hdd.

drawn almost correctly, with text on top of buttons and everything (for most of
them, anyway), however, I have not been able to reproduce this again. Perhaps
its a race of some sorts? (I'm using gdi as my DirectDrawRenderer).

As the title suggests, winebuild does not use the compiler triplet specified at
configure time.
I noticed this problem when building on 64bit Fedora.
I keep a handy dandy toolchain (i386-linux-xxxxx) for building 32bit apps.
But winebuild refuses to use it (but the rest of the gnu make build is fine)
winebuild could be modified by autoconf/automake to reflect the proper default
toolchain.
eg. in tools/winebuild/main.c
86 char *as_command = NULL;
87 char *ld_command = NULL;
The NULLs can be changed to @LD@ and @AS@ and taken from autoconf
Thank you.

http://codeguru.com has lots, too, probably it is richer in older versions like
visual c++ 6 since it's been around longer.

With version >1.1.12 of Wine running on Xfce 4.4.3, running Half-Life based
games through Steam results in the main menu of the game showing for a second,
and then it exits back to Steam. Testet deleting .wine and reset all settings,
reinstalling Steam, with or without all Windows-fonts copied over to
.wine/drive_c/windows/Fonts, but nevertheless it refuses to work.
Tried both Counter-Strike 1.6, Half-Life, and a 3rd party mod of Half-Life, all
with the same result.
Also tried starting the game windowed, with OpenGL, D3D or Software-rendering,
with or without virtual desktop, with 16bit color depth and 24 bit color depth
in X, running Half-Life with same resolution as desktop.. all this to no avail.
When starting Steam, letting it load completely, and then double-clicking
"Half-Life", this debug message appears in console:

(it was so short that I allowed myself not to make an attachment of it...)
The weird thing is.. all this text is produced during the load sequence of the
game, and the last line is printed out before the game just exits. It actually
just seem like the game is exited cleanly, which I think is weird.

patch that makes listview forward HDN_ITEMCLICK
As it all came out, the problem is in that the listview does not forward
HDN_ITEMCLICK notification to the application.
When listview receive HDN_ITEMCLICK it has to issue LVN_COLUMNCLICK to itself,
and forward HDN_ITEMCLICK to listview owner. But wine's listview only did the
first thing. That's why several applications that do reorder items in listview
by their own fail to do this.
The patch fixes this.

success. By contrast, these version of Word Perfect Office install OK with

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3

AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: auryce74(a)googlemail.com
In Kubuntu Janunty Alpha4 with the latest package upgrades (including Wine
1.1.4), starting the game "Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Expansion"
(freshly installed from the collector's edition DVD into an unused wine
directory) not only fails but also makes the whole desktop environment (kdm)
crash.
This happens irrespective of whether I'm currently running a KDE4 or a Fluxbox
session - kdm will crash and restart.
I also tried not running it under kdm at all, but instead in a plain "xinit
/usr/bin/blackbox" session - in this case when starting AOE2 the system freezes
with a weird color pattern on the screen and has to be shut down using the
power button.
However: When first configuring wine (using winecfg) to emulate a virtual
desktop, then the game starts without trouble and is also playable.
[System:]
Samsung X20 Laptop
[Possible hints:]
When starting up, the game sets a display resolution of 800x600, while my
desktop environment runs using my screens native 1400x1050 resolution, so the
problem might arise somewhere in this process.
Still, it's only wine which seems to have a problem with this - setting a lower
desktop resolution using the krandrtray applet for example works fine.
I'd be glad to provide more info, but obviously I can't attach any terminal
output since that all gets lost in the crash...

Hi,
I've just installed the game, patched it and used a crack to get rid of the
copy protection.
After starting the game, it crashs the X-Server! And I'm not able to restart it
(ctrl-alt-backspace doesn't do anything) I only see the last output of the
terminal from the boot process.
I've tried to get a log of that (wine ./colin.exe > file.log) but that doesn't
work
I've a Ubuntu 8.10 on a laptop with an ATI Mobile HD2600 XT and 3 GB RAM. The
game was shipped with the laptop and under Windows XP it works on that machine,
so there is no problem with the hardware.
If someone knows how to get a log I'll try it and load it up here.

Hi.
I am having problem starting Office Word 2003 since wine 1.1.6.
Word will try to start but it will prompting that it will need to recover my
work and restart Microsoft Office although i did not open any document yet.
If I try to close the prompt with the default option on:"Recover my work and
restart Microsoft Office Word", the same error message will appear.
I have since install wine 1.1.7 and wine 1.1.8 but none seems to work.
I attached the screenshot of the issue.
If you need some logging, please tell the commands to do so as I am not very
familiar with logging with wine.

Thank you, that's useful. The last few lines of the WinXP log are:
trace:crypt:CryptImportKey (0x177830, 0xde62b0, 36, 0x0, 00000100, 0x32f99c)

fixme:imm:ImmGetOpenStatus (0x176860): semi-stub
If I were to guess, I'd say CryptImportKey is getting passed a blob type it
doesn't recognize. From dlls/rsaenh/rsaenh.c:
switch (pBlobHeader->bType)
{
(snip)
default:
SetLastError(NTE_BAD_TYPE); /* FIXME: error code? */
return FALSE;
}
Some more traces probably need to be added to determine what's happening.
Probably this would be an rsaenh bug, but lacking that as a component I'll
switch it back to crypt32.

I have similar problems with a different program (proprietary software used on
just 5 machines around the world). I have been debugging with interceptty.
The application I am using sends an "ENQ" signal and then waits for an "ACK"
signal to come back. The ENQ is correctly sent. The ACK signal is actually
also recieved back from the instrument too by Linux but for some reason the
application running in Wine doesn't recieve the message.

If you use either native urlmon or shdocvw the crash stops.
It appears when BINDSTATUS_CLASSIDAVAILABLE is passed to OnProgress, the
processing is different in WINE. Still narrowing the the exact difference.

I have recompiled git from source using tag wine-1.1.4 and there was no
graphics problem, e.g., the sky or terrain is not corrupted.
Using git tag wine-1.1.5, the graphics corruption was reproduced. Tag was
dated Sept 19, 2008. The following commits are likely responsible for the
graphics corruption (related to fbo):
wined3d: Create a FBO for each combination of render targets and depth stencil.
wined3d: Get rid of context_set_depth_stencil_fbo().
wined3d: Get rid of context_set_render_target_fbo().
wined3d: Handle drawbuffers in context_apply_fbo_state() instead of
context_set_render_target_fbo().

It's able to sign in with native msxml3, riched20, (gdiplus (msn > 7.5
versions)), and with wine set to windows 2000. I think it's a crypt32 bug, I'll
send +crypt logs. Tested with MSN 7.5, 8.0, 8.1, 8.5 versions.

wine-1.1.14 without overrides does not work any more. So I think this is a
regression. I have not tested with overrides yet.
wine does not return any error messages at the time. <- Running wine without
extra debug.
Which further debug option should I try?

Summary: Applications in Wine fail to launch default browser
Product: Wine

Platform: PC-x86-64
URL: http://www.invelos.com/Downloads.aspx
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: Stuart(a)houseofanime.org
This bug is raised in relation to DVD Profiler
(http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=1975), though
I'm sure that it must affect many others.
Short version - application in Wine fails to launch web browser.
Some of the features of DVD Profiler trigger information being loading in the
user's default web browser. Under Wine, performing one of these triggers
renders no result whatsoever (no browser opening, no window opening in open
browser (run on Linux), no window opening in wine-installed browser). There is
also no error message etc.
Prime example of this is going to the menu 'Online, Invelos Website, Invelos
Main Site...'.

1. If I run Tibia by "wine Tibia.exe" i get the infinitely error.

(0,0)-(600,450)/(null)
and the screen is partially black.
2. If i run Tibia by "wine Tibia.exe" in Windowed mode (600x450) i get the
infinitely error.
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DSwapChainImpl_Present Unhandled present rects
(0,0)-(600,450)/(null)
I can click on buttons and other stuff but it only works in 600x450.
3. If i run Tibia by "wine Tibia.exe engine 0" from Tibia directory the game
works fine and without infinite error loop. After that i can successfully run
the game by "wine Tibia.exe" or from shortcut. I don't know what "engine 0"
makes but it seems that if run once it fixes problem with infinite error.

Okay i did install the patch 2.01 for icewind dale here is the link that i used
http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/dl.php?s=IWD2&f=../Games2/IWD2/IWD2Patch201.…
the patch fixed the problems i had. When creating a character and clicking the
appearance tab (also when importing a character and clicking the appearance
tab) and when playing and clicking the inventory tab.
In the patch readme it told me that one of the bugs that was fix in the update
was the error above - for a certain type of video card. I know i do not have
that card but the patch fixed the error anyway.

Test program to reveal LookupAccountName regression
Galactic Civilization starts in Wine 1.0, but is unable to start in Wine 1.1.
It considers itself unactivated and when trying to reactivate the game with a
valid serial, it is unable to activate itself because it is unable to get a
SID.
I investigated tis and it seems to be caused by a regression in
LookupAccountName when used to query the local machine account. The result of
LookupAccountName seems to be incorrect already in Wine 1.0, returning
incorrect data, but the game does seem to be happy with the returned data.
Wine 1.1 lets the LookupAccountName call fail, and GalCiv2 is unhappy with the
failure, refusing to start.
I have written a small program to demonstrate the program. You can find it
attached, compile it with Free Pascal or Delphi.
The result of the test program on a real (Windows 2003) machine is:
SCORPIO
lookupaccountname succeeded
SID type: SidTypeDomain
The result of the test program on Wine 1.0.1 is:
commandchair
lookupaccountname succeeded
SID type:
The result of the test program on Wine 1.1.13 is:
commandchair
lookupaccountname failed: 1332

After a bit of searching, seems that segq/timeq are:
struct ipqehead segq; /* sequencing queue */
struct ipqehead timeq; /* time sequenced queue. */
and struct ipqehead is defined inf /usr/include/netinet/ip_var.h:
TAILQ_HEAD(ipqehead, ipqent);
struct ipqent {
TAILQ_ENTRY(ipqent) ipqe_q;

struct ip *_ip;

*/
TAILQ_ENTRY(ipqent) ipqe_timeq;
u_int32_t ipqe_seq;
u_int32_t ipqe_len;
The attached patch, which is the patch from bug 16661, with #include tcp_var.h
moved after including ip_var.h, fixes it for me, but is obviously a hack.
Moving tcp_var after ip_var, however, may be fine, I need to test...

Hi guys,
In Windows, when you use Richedit control, generally it allows "magnifying" the
text in it by the following steps:
First the cursor should be positioned inside the richedit control
Then you press and hold CTRL key
While CTRL is held, you can zoom in/out by using the mouse wheel
It's not a well-known feature, but would be great if it would be implemented
into wine too since I use it in BCDC++ (official site:
http://utrum.dyndns.org:8000 ). Actually anyone can try it under Windows to see
how it works. Note that it only works in the hub mainchat windows in BCDC, so
don't expect anything in other windows.
Finally a screenshot:

It would be great if our gecko had an optional .pdb

symbolic stack dumps on crashes involving gecko.
Furthermore, it would be nice if the build procedure for
our gecko was documented. There is a little doc at
http://wiki.winehq.org/Gecko
including a link to the source tarball, but
nothing there says which compiler to use or how to run it.
(It would be cool sometime to include valgrind annotations
in our gecko. That would be a nifty trick; I don't know
if anyone's tried doing that in windows code before.)

Summary: Unreal Tournament: dinput mode makes game unplayable
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.56.
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-dinput
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: liquid.acid(a)gmx.net
Hi there,
new Unreal Tournament bug after the "error on exit" bug was fixed. This one is
different however, because it has to do with input.
The problem is that once you active direct input in the UT configuration menu
and restart (so the change becomes active) the input sort of stops working.
What exactly happens:
I'm currently not talking about being in-game. I'm just in the menu where you
land after pressing ESC in the intro sequence. Upon pressing ESC you end up
with the cursor in the upper left position on the virtual windows (currently
using virtual desktop, so debugging is easier).
The first entry of the game menu is opened automatically (Game), and I can now
move the cursor through the opened game entry, selecting the children. Or I can
move over to the next entry (Multiplayer, Options, Stat, Tools, ...) and select
children there.
OK, this is when dinput is OFF.
Now I go into the options, activate dinput and leave the game. Then I start the
game again and encounter this.
Upon pressing ESC the cursor is still transferred to the upper left position
and the menu opens.
What is different:
When clicking the menu "away" (click on non-menu components) and then trying to
open them again (by clicking on them) the menu item won't open (no drop-down
effect). I can hear the soundeffect of the menu opening, but nothing more. I
can even click something (suspecting that the menu is invisible, but there). So
the only thing I can do is switching the app to window mode (there is a button
in the upper right corner that does that) and then use the X-button on the
window to close the application.
Another difference is that marking checkboxes doesn't work anymore. I was going
to make another try and restarted the app, this time moving right into the
config menu to deactivate input. This works, because ESC always lets the menu
pop up. However removing the tick from the checkbox proved to be impossible.
I had to modify the UnrealTournament.ini to switch dinput off.
I created a log from the dinput run, going to attach this.
Greets,
Tobias

Funny. For me, it's the other way around. New characters do work but importing
them does not. And the animation works too, that's not a problem.
Have you tried installing the latest patch to the game? Does that change
anything?

This is the councel output from when the game crashes
I am new to wine and new to ubuntu. so this could be something easy like i do
not have the correct lib installed. I am finding out that not having the
correct lib installed is what most of my problems are.

I did some further testing of the issue that i posted above and this is what i
gather from the information. When I go to the appearance tab in creating a
character it has an animation at the top of the screen. Now when you import a
character you have to go through the appearance (and assign a voice to the
character) and the name tab again and the program crashes at the same spot as
it does when creating a new character. I have about one second or less when the
screen changes before the program crashes. I believe that it is the animation
that is causing the program to crash.
I did find that when i load a pre-made party that the game worked. to some
degree. There is a setting in the config.exe for the game located in the game
directory that i needed to change in order to get to play smoothly. It was the
slider bar for the FPS it is defaulted at 30 FPS and that is too slow. I just
maxed it out at 60 and then the game ran smooth.
I went into windows and created a party. First i copied the character files
over to the ubuntu\wine game and tried to import them. that is how i learned
about what i said above. So i went back to windows and started the game with my
newly created party and saved it as soon as i got off the ship. I copied the
save game over to the ubuntu\wine game and loaded my saved game. It worked fine
- to a point. There is a circular display of buttons that are for the menu
commands (i guess that is what i will call them but i am not sure if I am
correctly describing it) at the right of the screen. The top button takes you
to your inventory (I think) and when i click that the game crashes again. Now
the only similarity that i noticed in the two windows is that same animation
comes back up in the window. I have about the same amount of time as i do when
i clicked the appearance before the game crashes.
The terminal counsel does generate a debug error code for me. I will have to
load into ubuntu and get the information and attach it to this. i cannot
understand it but i hope that someone can.
Please bare with me this is the first thing that i ever posted.

I'm thinking now that the ClientScheme.res fix did actually work for the
headshot crash, but I thought it didn't since the game still crashed. I just
had it crash on me while I was walking and nobody was even shooting. I must
have something else going on, but I guess it still belongs under the title "CSS
crashes after a while"

I am having the same problem on two computers. I have wine version 1.0.1 and
wine 1.1.14 installed, on Ubuntu 8.10. I just went to applications add\remove
to install wine on the desktop and i followed the instructions from the
following web page http://www.winehq.org/download/deb to install it on the
laptop. It is a fresh install of wine and Icewind Dale II (no expansion pack).
On both computers. The game crashes at the same point on both computers. I am
creating a character and i get through the process most of the way but i come
to the second to the last option to the appearance option. that is where it
freezes.

Well, that fixed the crash on the headshots, but the game is still crashing
randomly after about 10 minutes, even when nobody is using the autosniper.
