Screenshots and scarangel error file
Hello,
I have been using ScarAngel v2.5 in Ubuntu 7.10 for months Ok (of course
ScarAngel works also Ok in Windows XP), with previous version of Wine (I think
it was Wine 0.9.54).
However, in Kubuntu 8.04, with the 0.9.60 version of Wine, ScarAngel
v2.5 always crashes (while starting). Not matter if I try to start it
from the NTFS Windows XP partition, but also it crashes if I download
this eMule mod to (and try to start it from) my home directory in Kubuntu.
Here I attach you 2 screenshots and also the error file made by ScarAngel.
Otherwise, the eMule v0.48a works fine in Kubuntu 8.04 with the latest
version of Wine. Anyway, I do prefer to use ScarAngel as it's better
the ScarAngel mod than the original eMule program.
Also I can't install previous versions of Wine in Kubuntu 8.04.

This has been a problem for a while, since wine is getting stabler for each
release, I would like to see this game (and other game using texture and dsound
similiarly) to run under wine:
The game is called Duo Princess, the trial version can be downloaded here:
http://egs-soft.info/product/duoprincess/duotry.lzh
There are two major problem that prevent this game from running:
Firstly, dsound does not work and will crash the game, the workaround is to
disable all sound in winecfg, and the game can be played for a while.
fixme:dmime:IDirectMusicSegment8Impl_IDirectMusicSegment8_Download (0x1b5468,
0x2826c18): stub
fixme:dmfile:IDirectMusicSegment8Impl_IPersistStream_Load : WAVE form (loading
to be checked)
fixme:dswave:IDirectMusicWaveImpl_IPersistStream_Load (0x2748c48, 0x28477e8):
loading not implemented yet (only descriptor is loaded)
Secondly, the texture cannot be loaded in the game. As a result, the game will
crash after a while.
fixme:d3d8:IDirect3DDevice8Impl_CreateTexture (0x124dc0) call to
IWineD3DDevice_CreateTexture failed
fixme:d3dxof:IDirectXFileImpl_RegisterTemplates

The game uses xfile (*.x) for its graphics. Other games that use similiar
structure (i.e. using xfile) will also fail in a similar fashion, such as:

says that dwmapi.dll.DwmGetColorizationColorisn't implemented. When I add

The game crashes when you enter the car selection screen. Backtrace attached.
This is a regression; you used to be able to get in-game. Unfortunately, I have
no idea which version it stopped working in. My computer takes 3 hours to
compile Wine and that makes it so I can't run regression tests because they
take too long. If anyone else could run the test that'd be great.

The demo will crash on all subsequent runs after the install, but all you need
to do is run the demo.exe again before the wine virtual desktop disappears and
the game will run.

It is not possible to check for online updates from Legacy - it just

dialog box used to check for updates, there is a link to 'See what's new' and
that works as expected.

of Wine. Yet the about tab says I am running version 0.9.46
There are two driver configureizations in SFC2setupMFC, 1 software: mouse
behaves normally no mouse problem, however, the starship models in the game
have no skins, they are just white with no detail.
2 Directdraw HAL, game plays normally skins on models but mouse is highly
erratic, when I slow the mouse acceleration and sensitivity to the lowest and
slowest settings this helps but mouse is still erratic.
Mouse works fine in Ubuntu and all other applications.
I am using a USB mouse, I have tried other USB Mice so it is not just one
mouse, I have also tried a USB wireless mouse they are all erratic in the
Starfleet Command II game and only in this game.
I am new to a laptop and the touchpad is difficult for me to use. It seems that
without a mouse and just the touchpad the game is not erratic. In this case I
am the only thing that is erratic. Is there a way to disable the touchpad to
see if it is a problem when using a mouse and active touchpad in this game.

When using the ALSA driver with Heroes of Might and Magic II, there are two
major sound problems, probably related:
- Audio/Video is not syncronized in films: the audio lags behind
- When playing, the audio lags behind in such a way that when a sound effect is
played, you hear the one that was supposed to be played previously. For
example, the first sound effect in the game is replaced by a segment of the
intro film music. Next time a sound effect is to be played it will be the one
previously replaced by the film music segment, and so on.
With the OSS driver everything works fine (and ALSA works fine for other
games). The background MIDI music plays as it should.
Sound card: SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS, emu10k1 driver
There is a demo version of the game; although it does not have films it might
be helpful.

This is a little Windows program used to generate sound effects:
http://www.cyd.liu.se/~tompe573/sfxr.zip
Run it and play with it for a little while (space to play sound). After a
little while -- the exact period varies, but it's usually within a couple
minutes, sometimes a bit longer -- the contents of the window spontaneously
moves to the top left of the screen (ie the root window), escaping its window
frame, and the window contents will stop updating. The program still runs and
works fine in its original window frame, as can be verified by modifying
sliders (blindly) and playing the sounds, though file windows won't pop up.
Usually I also get this message in the console when this happens:
err:region:CombineRgn Invalid rgn=(nil)
This happens both with and without wine emulating a virtual desktop.

This is a bit difficult to explain, but I'll try anyway.
Some of the games created with so-called "Klik products" (available on
Clickteam.com) switch to fullscreen mode when they start. This is no problem,
except that the following happens: the position where you see the mouse is not
the same position as the game reads the mouse position in. The actual mouse
pointer is always ~100 pixels below the things happening in the game.
Example: there's a button. You want to click it. You can't, it doesn't do a
thing. You move the mouse a bit lower in the application. Suddenly, you CAN
click the button, even though your mouse pointer is ~100 pixels below the
actual button.
I don't know of any other way to test this bug than to play a Klik game.
"Eternal Daughter" on http://www.derekyu.com/games.html does this thing when
you press escape during gameplay and try to press "continue" or "quit".
(Side note: small graphical glitches tend to occur when I move my mouse lower
than the visible screen.)

Instead, a window pops up saying that Programmer's Notepad has experienced an

diagnostics file. If you select "No", the program crashes. If you select yes,
it will tell you it saved the file and close normally.
I'm guessing that since you can close it without crashing that the crash is a
separate bug, so I won't include a console log with the crash info unless one

And before anyone asks; yes, the search function does work in Windows.

Hi,
I am trying to modify my windows program to run on Linux. After much trial and
error, I got it to run for the most part, but one thing. My program
communicates over TCP/IP (LAN) through Winsock. I've written Client and Server
communication for my program that also handles socket errors. Part of that
includes reconnection based on the socket error or exception handling. Anytime
the sockets disconnect unexpectedly, for instance, by host or server program
crashing or disconnecting, my program is supposed to trigger on the exception
and try to reconnect. It works exactly the way I described it on the Window,
but on Linux under Wine my program doesn't reconnect by handling the exception.
Under wine my program acts like it never saw the socket error exception but
when the program is started from scratch it works. But once the host is
disconnected while client is connected, it doesn't handle the exception.
My program must handle these exceptions or it will not work right. Am I doing
anything wrong or do I need to update wine?
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Thaya,

Summary: PT3 cannot get past opening splash screen
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.10
Platform: PC-x86-64
URL: http://www.pokertracker.com/
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: Hubmasterflex(a)hotmail.com
After installing PT3, the program normally shows a splash screen with the PT3
logo (which in wine is rendered as a gray box which could be related to bug
15118) and after which, the program opens. In latest versions of Wine, the
program shows the gray box, but the program itself doesn't load at all. I'll
add logs as requested.

Any wine version equal to or newer than the current stable version should be

is newer than the current stable (1.0.1) but it is not acceptable because the
list starts at 1.1.6.

Platform: PC-x86-64

hi there,
i checked this with the last 3 wine versions, the following maps crashing after
some seconds up to several minutes :
cs_italy
cs_office
maps as de_dust2 de_aztec never crash, i played a very long time to check this.
in crossover-office 6.0.2 the maps arent crashing! i also noticed a different
font in crossover than in wine. maybe this is what produces the error !?

I am using wine 1.1.10 in Fedora 10.
I have managed to install Office 2003 and get word to work....
I did try to execute the equation editor directly from a terminal shell using:
wine .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Common\ Files/Microsoft\
Shared/EQUATION/EQNEDT32.EXE
This does indeed open the equation editor in a window but of course the symbol
font is missing.... so you can't generate an equation but at least the
executable needed is present which is a first step.
So maybe this is a clue that there needs to be a hook into this executable from
within WORD that is missing? Does this help?

This appears to be a regression from earlier versions(9.61 and earlier).
V 7.4.1 starts up with a blank splash and blank popup dialog. If you open and
close the dialogs, you get a flash of the controls on the form. You can
actually selection the options and click the button, if you know exactly where
it is in the blank screen. This dialog downloads an update to the 7.4.1
software.
I'm reporting this because for the first time, the main part of the software
appears to function once you get past this download dialog.

Summary: WebBrowser.Stop Stub causes crash
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.54.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: shdocvw
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: fossi(a)iname.com
CC: fossi(a)iname.com
Currently WebBrowser.Stop is implemented as a stub, returning E_NOTIMPL.
At least with Titan Poker this causes the application to crash whenever one of
it's windows is closed.
I figured that stopping the 'webbrowser' from loading might not actually be
crucial to the operation of this (or most other) programs, so i just tried
returning S_OK instead. And that actually 'worked'.
I didn't check for any memory leaks caused by this and i guess for some other
apps it might not be a valid fix either, but i couldn't figure out what the
correct behaviour would be inbetween all of the rarely documented code.
I hope this does at least help somebody around here. It does at least make me
happy (finally being able to play poker on linux ;)).
If somebody could point me in the direction of a more suitable fix or if i
should submit this as an official patch, i'd be willing to do that as well.

In Guild Wars in-game, if you look up the sky sometimes you will see some sort
of shadows of the character pictures from the character selection screen. They
seem to be objects in 3D positioned stationally relative to the camera, as they

You have to run winecfg, go to the "Graphics" tab, and disable "Allow the
window manager to control the windows", then both the Blizzard logo and the
movies play just fine (tested many times with latest Git).
This bug was about Warcraft crashing/hanging due to quartz problems and that
has been fixed long ago, so I am resolving it FIXED once again.
The issue of movies always skipping when the window manager controls the
windows, is now tracked separately as bug 12792.

That said you can still dump your sysex with "cat /dev/midi > dump.syx" and
attached the file. I could also check here but I have only a GT-3 and Korg X5D

other users, like this one succeed with an ATI Radeon X700. The app simply

And I remembered, very clearly, that I had made breaks when I needed to and
instead of being easy to read, it's now a clutter of debug information.
If you view the source of that page, it shows that I did make specific break
points. I know in PHP the function is nl2br(), if that helps. This problem must
have come from the new layout. Hope you fix it soon, thanks.

Hello,
from a quick glance I only see known problems covered by other bugs and some
mshtml insufficiencies.
winetricks gecko dotnet20 (allfonts and gdiplus skipped)
You will most likely encounter bug 13462 like any other .NET app which runs for
some time.
In general, the bug report title is too generic.
Please state exactly *what* doesn't work for you (excluding known bugs),
describing exact steps used or close this bug.
If you leave the bug in this state, create dependency to bug 13462 and let this
one die when the dependency is fixed.
Open a new bug for each new issue encountered (the mshtml ones for example).
Regards

There now seems to be an implementation of PrintDlgEx as a result of Google
Summer Of Code:
http://code.google.com/p/google-summer-of-code-2008-wine/downloads/detail?n…
In my own tests I have been able to use the features that are needed from it:
choose the printer I want, maybe change some properties and print. There are
some issues:
- There are no printer icons in the "Print" box.
- There is work to be done on the localization.
- Wine sometimes crashes when selecting a printer and pressing the "print"
button.
DISCLAIMER: this is obviously work in progress, and the patch I have been using
is not even the latest¹ version. It is likely that some issues have already
been solved. However since there has been very little mention of this patch I
thought it needed to be brought to the attention of developers and users who
need the functionality it provides.
¹) Latest code is found here: http://www.cse.yorku.ca/~cs253137/

error could be related to the copy protection which is bundled with Gothic 2

I for one am embarking on the attempt to make a private server run under wine.
My thoughts are if I can get a private server running and strip out GG maybe I
can test further into the ap and see if there any "other" reasons maplestory
won't work. It's not a perfect solution by any means but for testing hey why
not?

Ok, testing with 1.1.10. wine eject works fine. But now I am not able to finish
the install at all. After using wine eject, I put in the next cd, it is
mounted, and in the install window there is a popup that says "Click OK when CD
2 is in the CDRom drive". I keep on clicking "OK" but nothing happens. I see no
errors in the wine window.

Using wine 1.1.10, same problem: Using blade dll crashes the game.
And mpeg video sequences still don't work. So the game can only be started with
wine MW4.exe /gosnoblade /gosusehw /gosnodialogs /gosnovideo

patch for CDN_INCLUDEITEM notification
after many days tinkering on this i managed to make the notification work!
(pump fist)
now media player classic correctly displays the files when browsing on "Open
File" with no native libraries :)
i'm going to put the patch on attachment and make a post on wine-devel for any
code corrections and for some help to make tests because i'm sure AJ won't
accept this without tests.

Summary: Sega Smash Pack II resolution problems

Picture of the bug
Sega Smash pack II is having some resolution problems. This problem has been
around for a while.
Gameplay is meant to take up the whole screen at a somewhat low resolution.
While the game takes up a whole screen, (It's all black as if it was
fullscreen) the actual game, menus, and other things are only displayed in the
upper left-hand corner of the screen. It seems that the screen isn't resizing
resolution properly.
Effects such as fading in from white at the start logo affect the whole screen,
if that's of any use. Since there are only 2 fixme's it shouldn't hurt to post
'em.
fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x34f97c,0x00000000), stub!
fixme:x11drv:X11DRV_desktop_SetCurrentMode Cannot change screen BPP from 32 to
8

I would disagree. The original bug says the video demo doesn't work. This bug
may be fixed, or it could be hidden by a new bug. I'd say leave this open until
the demo works, then close it out.

Yes, but the initial bug is fixed: QueryInterface IID_IDirectDrawMediaStream
fails
Your bug is another one. You should submit a new bug report for this bug.
