Is this still an issue in current (1.1.10 or newer) wine?

That seems to help, but it still crashes near the same point;
this looks like the culprit:
0018:Call
gdiplus.GdipSetImageAttributesColorKeys(001a3108,00000000,00000001,ff0d0b0c,ff0d0b0c)

ret=00cd0f52
0018:Call KERNEL32.RaiseException(e0434f4d,00000001,00000000,00000000)
ret=7921020d
Perhaps a better stub for GdipSetImageAttributesColorKeys would help.
.net is notoriously picky about return values, etc.

With wine-1.1.10, the latest Web.de-Messenger still does not work. The error is

For what it's worth, "sudo aptitude remove wine" got me further, but then it
died during setup with an "Error while parsing command line arguments or
reading setup.ini (0x80004002) [OK]" error dialog box. If anyone wants to take
over with this regression test then please go for it, because this is way too
painful and time-consuming for me to want to proceed with further, so I'll STFU
now.

Bugzilla is not a discussion forum, please keep the comments strictly related
to the bug report.
Nick: if you need help with the regression testing process, you should bring it
up on the forum http://forum.winehq.org or irc, the bug report is not a good
place for support.
The preloader message is answered in the FAQ:
http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#head-f008d57967dd5f8aa3f374c27540c1b5f4815947 and
the other error message you're getting is because a different version of Wine
is already running, you need to make sure that Wine exits between the tests.

I have attempted to do the regression test today, and can only report that the
regression test itself appears to be broken.
Here's what I did (on an Ubuntu 8.04 AMD64 system), following the instructions

--------------------------------------------
sudo apt-get install git-core
sudo apt-get install ccache
sudo apt-get build-dep wine wine-dev
cd ~/tmp
mkdir wine
cd wine
git clone git://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git wine-git

-Wl,-rpath,/lib32 -Wl,-rpath,/usr/lib32" ./configure -v
make depend
make
mv ~/.wine ~/.wine-backup
------------------------------------------------------------
Everything went fine up to this point.
Then attempt to install it:
./wine /cdrom/myobapp/mplus10/Setup.exe
... And after a minute or so get this error dialog box:
"MYOB Accounting Plus v10.0.2

I installed cdarchitect52c_enu.exe, which is the non-trial version (I own the
windows versions of SoundForge 9 / CD Architect)
Install runs ok, but when running the app I cant register, the console says :
fixme:wininet:InternetAttemptConnect Stub
fixme:wininet:InternetSetOptionW Option INTERNET_OPTION_CONNECT_TIMEOUT
(20000): STUB
And the app immediately says that the internet connection timed out.
So I cancelled the automatic registration and selected 'Register from another
computer'.
After entering that Activation Code the app continues start up but crashes part
way through :
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0xff01000f at address 0x1002ac0

I'll try and gather more information and add it to this bug.

Refresher: Myob11 wouldn't work using Fedora 6, just real buggy, tended to
crash, anything deeper than top-level window stuff wouldn't print. Windows
with tabs would not usually allow selecting the tabs, etc... Fedora 8 came
along, I upgraded as the F8 fanclub was making out F8 being the next best thing
to invention of the wheel. I tried Myob11 on it and it worked! I was able to
install all the old data from the windows system. We were able to input
receivables, create invoices, print stuff, do the bank stuff, tax stuff, etc...
The accountant was using it and happy. This honeymoon lasted about 1 month.
Then... First-off it wouldn't print Invoices, just a blank page, I thought I
had a bad printer. Then I realized there were other issues with the tabs on
some windows didn't work. Some of the bank info wasn't accessible. The
accountant now refuses to use Linux for anything but letters, email and
solitaire. I told her tough, get used to Linux because this place isn't going
back to M$, period. I've installed several other accounting programs made for
Linux, but she still hasn't decided to take the effort to learn them, she's
holding out for MYOB. I'm not set up for, nor do I understand how to do
regression testing. Wouldn't know what to do if I found something, either. I
really don't care how much trouble Linux is or how little how understand
it...there is no way in hell we are going back to M$, even if we have to send
all our accounting out to a service.
So, yeah, it sure would be nice if you geniuses could figure out why it
wouldn't then why it did and then why it won't work anymore!!
If it makes a difference, we use a network printer, hp L7780. System that
needs to use MYOB is running Mepis 7 and system used for testing various new
software from repos is running Lenny.

Hello,
thanks, but there is no point in providing logs.
Show stoppers are known, partly covered by .NET 3.5 bug 10547.
Missing "BITS" bits (comment #8) and pidgen stub dll
(http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=16508).
Follow up is wintrust (.inf file signature validation).
The _SFX_CAB_SHUTDOWN_REQUEST workaround will be most likely part of later
winetricks recipe until wine properly supports FILE_ATTRIBUTE_HIDDEN.

I think the bugs aren't related to vertex shaders, more to post processing
effects. By default WineD3D uses the back buffer for offscreen rendering
because FBO support is still buggy in Wine and the drivers. However, this can
lead to corruptions like these. If AUX buffers are available they are used,
fixing most of the problems. However, fglrx doesn't support aux buffers.
The best fix for this is to use FBOs
instead(HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Direct3D/offscreenRenderingMode = "fbo") and
fix all fbo related bugs.

On MYOB v16, printing of reports and lists DOES work. (You need to have your
cups / wine sorted out as for any other windows app to print)
Printing of forms uses a different engine inside MYOB, and does NOT work. You
can't print invoices, POs, statements, or any other form, either standard or
customised.
Based on yonnie's post it appears it used to work, someone needs to do the
testing of prior versions (regression testing) and find out when it broke, or
if it ever really did work.
This bug needs to focus on fixing the forms printing problem...
> Louis Lenders
> I can see the problem, yeah. Looks like a bug in wine's printing code.
> Maybe one of the printerguys (Detkef ?) could have a look
For other MYOB issues, please search for other bugs.
Given that the primary purpose of MYOB is recording sales and printing invoices
to get money, it's pretty much unuseable if forms printing doesn't work, making
this a show stopper bug for MYOB use. That in turn stops a lot of small
businesses from switching to Linux. Their other needs are well met by
openoffice, firefox and thunderbird. MYOB is the only other thing they run.

Hello,
I tried the installation with wine-1.1.10-173-g696512b, the patch posted by Dan
and setting _SFX_CAB_SHUTDOWN_REQUEST as suggested by Anastasius. The installer
downloads the needed files and after finishing the download says that an error
occurred immediately.
I think the lines from the terminal at the point of the error are:
fixme:clusapi:GetNodeClusterState ((null),0x33ec9c,0) stub!

Summary: Wine should use Mono and Gecko already installed in the

Wine FAQ says Wine is not an emulator, but in fact, it works as emulator - it
does not enhance Linux API, but simply creates virtual Windows system
completely isolated from other parts of the system.
* If one runs a .NET based program, Wine requires Win32 Mono to be installed
under Wine, instead of Mono already installed in system.
* If a program tries to do html rendering, Wine requires a web engine to be
installed under Wine, not using already installed in the system.
* If a program needs Flash, Wine requires an instance installed under Wine.
* If a program uses some fonts, Wine requires the fonts to be in Wine's fonts
directory and does not use already installed in the system (and Wine's fonts
cannot be used by a Linux application)
* Windows drivers loaded under NDIS wrapper cannot use Wine's APIs, that's why
the functionality of NDIS wrapper is so limited (and Wine cannot load Windows
drivers even NDIS-compatible).
This leads to douling in functionality, incompatibilities and limitations.
I think Wine should fully utilize the systems already provided with system and
allow other programs (that may benifit from it, such as Mono and NDIS wrapper)
to use Wine's APIs.

This is exactly the bug. Wine can't guesstimate what is VendorID and what is
ProductID. Kernel should return them separately. Or provide means to query that
information. Which it doesn't.

I have tested now with both 1.0.1 and 1.1.10.
The bug is still present in both versions, but there is a noticeable
improvement in 1.1.10.
Version 1.0.1 on occasion becomes unusable where it is continually popping up a
dialog specifying that a new joystick has been found. Pressing the button,
closes that dialog but then another immediately pops up.
Version 1.1.10 still sometimes pops up a single dialog, but only after a
minimum of 5 or so minutes.
Unfortunately other performance problems are making the game unplayable, so I
will need to play with the settings a bit before I can do more testing.

Hi - apologies for opening the bug to add feedback, I didn't know the protocol.
This is the first time that I "pointed to the kernel". It was "Salius K." who
made the original reference.
> "Wine returns exactly what is returned by the kernel".
What is returned by the kernel is the concatentation of the "VendorID" and
"ProductID" for the USB device. I find it difficult to see how this choice
could be described as a bug in the kernel, however, in the context of Wine and
RWG this is a bug.
I will continue to hack the wine source... :(
Again, apologies for reopening the bug.

Hi,
I've just tested this app in 1.1.10 and the error produced is:
wine: Cannot start DOS application "Z:\\home\\matthew\\Wine Sandbox\\Dos
Navigator\\dn151\\DN.PRG"
because vm86 mode is not supported on this platform.
Which i'm guessing is because i'm running Ubuntu x86_64, can someone running a
32bit OS test it please.
Also, i've checked and i have libx86 installed, which claims to provide vm86.
Any ideas why its not integrating itself into wine?

When playing any multi-player game of Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne (BNET or Local
Area Network) Players using wine can't see chat from other players using wine
and in a random way can't see chat coming from normal windows client.
To reproduce the problem, start a multi-player game with to clients using wine.
For invisible chat from real windows, start a 5v5 game and you won't be able to
see chat from a random number players for the whole game (when you don't see
the chat for one player, it's always the same player you'll have problem with
for the whole game). But starting a new game it may be from different users.

(valid for Catalyst/fglrx 8.11 and Wine 1.1.10)
"Extension 'GL_ARB_draw_buffers' is not supported" is bogus:
GL_ARB_draw_buffers IS supported and works.
"The GLSL vertex shader will run in hardware"/"Fragment shader was successfully
compiled to run on hardware" seem to be debug messages from the driver and can
be ignored. For details see
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.wine.user/36670 .
Vertex shaders seem not to work properly leading to major screen corruption in
Fallout 3 and Prince of Persia and probably many other games.

kernel. If that's not what windows does - or what the device called - then it's
the kernel bug.

I have been trying to give feed back on a different bug relating to a dual CPU
machine and polling for joystick devices (bug 8765).
Due to this problem, I am still having to patch the wine sources. I spent some
more time looking at exactly what was taking place in the kernel, and I believe
that the problem is not with the joydev.c, but rather it is with the hid
devices:
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/aegl/linux-2.6.git;a=blob;f=drive…
I don't think this is a bug with either wine or with the kernel, however, the
short answer is that I need to "hack" wine before I can get this game to run.
It would not surprise me if other people had similar experiences.
At this point, a possible solution would be to add mapping functionality, so
that the device name returned by the kernel can be mapped to a different
identifier without requiring source code change.
Is something like this feasible?

Summary: thinstall firefox demo requires native msvcrt

OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Keywords: download
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-msvcrt

ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
Running http://thinstall.com/downloads/firefox_autoplay.exe
aborts silently and quickly just as it's getting
started. Using native msvcrt works around this.
Looking at the log, it seems the suspicious bit is right around
this line:
trace:msvcrt:read_i (111),
"[General]\r\nStartWithLastProfile=1\r\n\r\n[Profile0]\r\nName=default\r\nIsRelative=1\r\nPath=Profiles/fm4cpmjr.default\r\n\r\n"
trace:msvcrt:read_i already at EOF, returning 0
so I suspect a problem in our fread().
I'll attach the segment of the log from the fopen to the ExitProcess.

Hello,
random pick, fortunately I got hold of some Office 97 copy ... ;-)
The main problem is Office 97 installer shipping its own version of ole
automation library "oleaut32.dll" which is dynamically loaded at install time
using a different library alias -> "32autole.dll".
This only happens for installation/registration purpose of "Microsoft Access
Wizard Control Library" -> "ACCWIZ.DLL".
--- snip Setup\ACME.LST ---
[Windows 95 Files]
...
os\system\oleaut32.dll = 32autole.dll
[NT3.51 Intel Files]
...
os\system\oleaut32.dll = 32autole.dll
--- snip Setup\ACME.LST ---
In installer OS\system dir:

-rw-rw-r-- 1 focht focht 491792 1996-11-21 11:37 OS/SYSTEM/OLEAUT32.DLL
--- snip ---
When "accwiz.dll" is loaded, DllRegisterServerEx("32autole.dll") is called.

--- snip ---
All typelib registration stuff goes through "32autole.dll" a.k.a. OLEAUT32.DLL
Wine's builtin one is not used at that time (see previous proc addr
resolutions).
Basically it boils down to LoadTypeLib() and RegisterTypeLib() problems of
"stdole32.tlb".
It first tries to locate the typelib path using registry:
--- snip ---
...
0024:Call advapi32.RegOpenKeyA(80000000,653b28ac "TypeLib",0033ebc8)
ret=65351c33
0024:Ret advapi32.RegOpenKeyA() retval=00000000 ret=65351c33

0024:Ret advapi32.RegOpenKeyW() retval=00000000 ret=65353360
0024:Call advapi32.RegOpenKeyA(000000f4,0033ebb4 "1.0",0033ee18) ret=65351ca2
0024:Ret advapi32.RegOpenKeyA() retval=00000000 ret=65351ca2
0024:Call advapi32.RegOpenKeyA(000000f8,0033ebcc "0",0033eba8) ret=65351bb6

0024:Call advapi32.RegOpenKeyW(000000fc,653b2880 L"win32",0033eba4)
ret=65353360
0024:Ret advapi32.RegOpenKeyW() retval=00000000 ret=65353360
...
--- snip ---
It obviously fails to locate it because wine neither installs "stdole32.tlb" as
placeholder dll (with embedded typelib resource) nor establishes a proper
typelib path in registry.
--- snip ---
...
0024:Call KERNEL32.WideCharToMultiByte(00000000,00000000,0033ee5c

(80029c4a -> HRESULT: TYPE_E_CANTLOADLIBRARY)
After adjusting wine install script for stdole32.tlb placeholder and fixing up
the typelib path in registry
--- snip ---

@="c:\\windows\\system32\\stdole32.tlb"
--- snip ---
it still fails, now with: 0x800288BD -> TYPE_E_BADMODULEKIND
After various testing with hand crafted typelibs, switching between Platform
SDK MIDL and WIDL (just to cancel out WIDL as error path) it still wouldn't
load.
It turned out that the shipped ole automation bootstrapper expects
"stdole32.tlb" in v1 format (ICreateTypeLib/SGLT), not the v2 format wine
currently provides (ICreateTypeLib2/MSFT).
When manually generating a v1 typelib using ICreateTypeLib and embedding into
PE it successfully loads and registers.
To resolve this bug, wine needs to generate/provide a v1 style placeholder
"stdole32.tlb" in "c:\\windows\\system32\\stdole32.tlb".
It seems even Platform SDK ships "stdole32.tlb" as v1 typelib.
Note: the installer/office runtime still suffer from other bugs, ex:
"Setup was unable to start DDE communication with the Desktop" -> DDE with
Windows program manager
"An error has occurred at changing workgroup database" -> MS JET database
engine provider/ole insufficiency
leading to later failure of access at run time.
This bug is about "accwiz.dll failed to register itself"
Regards

When I run anything in Wine on one of my two screens, some fonts are fuzzy.
This could be problem of Xorg, but I didn't see this in any other application
but Wine.

After installing wine 1.1.10, Uru - The Path of the Shell (or Uru - Complete
Chronicles, that's basically the same) crashes with a stackdump when I turn a
page in one of the books which can be used in the game. I did a git bisect with
the following result:
a2febdd200f7149cff7fe923b7316dcdafca693a is first bad commit
commit a2febdd200f7149cff7fe923b7316dcdafca693a
Author: Henri Verbeet <hverbeet(a)codeweavers.com>
Date: Thu Dec 4 17:41:30 2008 +0100
wined3d: Slightly improve drawStridedSlow() performance.
This moves a couple of checks outside of the main drawing loop, since
they're not going to change anyway.

After reverting that commit locally, the problem is fixed.
I did not add the author of the patch as CC with the bug commit form as
Bugzilla tells be it is unable to match that email adress. I'll try again after
committing the bug.

Looking into portals is no problem. I can transfer things trough them, but not

I have no idea why this happens.

Summary: Fireworks 8 memory error
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0-rc4
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: laurent(a)gecka.com
Only one big bug. To reproduce:
- create anew image
- draw some shapes
- in optimize panel choose for example Jpeg and then using the panel menu
choose progressive
Ooops a "Memoire insufisante" (not enough memory) occurs.
Then fireworks just does not work anymore: close it and open it, create or open
any image and the error appears.
Deleting windows/profiles/crossover/Application Data/Macromedia/Fireworks
8/French/Fireworks 8 Panel Prefs.xml makes it work again but loosing all
personal settings.
I extensively use Fireworks so this bug is really annoying and slows me down in
my work.

full output of running the installer
hi,
I am on a fairly new opensuse 11 install with wine 1.1.9 package from the
opensuse build service.
I just installed wine and first ran "wine iexplore http://google.com" to have
the gecko engine installed for steam.
then I run "wine start SteamInstall.msi" which yields:
fixme:exec:SHELL_execute flags ignored: 0x00000500
fixme:msi:MSI_OpenDatabaseW open failed r = 8003001e for
L"C:\\windows\\temp\\msi1da.tmp"
I see some window very briefly popup and disappear again.
if I run "wine msiexec /i SteamInstall.msi" I just get the second fixme and no
window popup
I don't know if this may be related, but I know, on windows, if you start an
MSI install from a subst'ed drive (for example, on my real windows I have T:
mapped to C:\temp), it will fail too with no clear reason..

> Full Terminal Output of wine v1.0.1
>
The above attachment should have been accompanied by this message:
Sorry, there is no way to access my playlists outside of my network.
The attachment is the terminal output of my latest attempt to use Streaming
Media Player with the wine version 1.0.1. Now the Media Player can connect to
playlists and play any of the files. However, after the player connects, it
changes sizes to the resolution of the file and the sound of the file can be
heard but NO video.
Hopefully the terminal output can help determine why the DivX video files in
the playlist can be heard but not seen.
Note: I can play the files perfectly if they are on my computer but not
remotely through Media Streaming Player.

I think the most recent changes to the DIB engine may have broken Space Empires
V. In wine 1.1.9, the 3D view would appear but most objects would be invisible,
but as of 1.1.10 the game just crashes when I reach that point with some errors
creating Direct3D and DirectDraw surfaces. (The actual errors are in my latest
AppDB report for SE5 1.74 which I entered a few minutes ago.)

Created an attachment (id=17727)

comdlg32: make includeObject notify window with CDN_INCLUDEITEM
so... i decided to investigate why didn't mpc show the files when browsing...
i've been debugging this for some days but found the problem, although it's not
quite solved, so if anyone has any idea please share.
the good thing was that mpc source code is available so i could see how it was
implemented.
i found out that includeObject is supposed to notify the browsing window with
CDN_INCLUDEITEM that wasn't yet declared in wine.
the problem is that i get:
err:pidl:_ILSimpleGetTextW -- no text
err:pidl:_ILSimpleGetTextW -- no text
trace:commdlg:SendCustomDlgNotificationMessage RET NOTIFY
trace:commdlg:SendCustomDlgNotificationMessage Retval: 0x00000000
and the notify isn't successful :\
any ideas?

Tested with wine 1.1.9.
The original issue appreares only when wine is set up to emulate virtual
desktop. If this option is off, no graphical corruption appeares.
When using the mentioned option, the incorrectly/not redrawn part is on the
right side of the screen; the bottom is now drawn correctly.

Zhenya, patching source code which is going to compile is quite equivalent to
putting dlls that already works in the "patched way".

Firsty, try Wine-1.1.10, it was released some days ago.
If newer bugs are still present, you could help Wine project by writing up
individual (atomic) bugs into a list and then doing regression test [10] for
every such bug (separately).
Once you identify offending commit ID, search it up in the Bugzilla. If that's
not a case, also try looking at the list of known Wine issues [11]. It may be
someone already has filed appropriate bugreport. If it's not, file your own
one about the issue.
Repeat this for every symptom of regression you've noticed. Thanks for looking
into a bug :)

wined3d: Use a swapchain for GDI surfaces.
This is a long-needed cleanup aimed at removing the ddraw_primary,
ddraw_window, ddraw_width and ddraw_height members from
IWineD3DDeviceImpl, which just do not belong there. Destination
window and screen handling is supposed to be done by swapchains.

The attached patch should do what the previous patches has done. The only thing

I'm not sure if current .deb package from Mr. Scott Ritchie are updated and has
this patch, because last possible update to date is:

Tested (still not perfectly working):

Should I wait for 1.1.10 to become available to test again?

FFXI Would not run in full-screen mode. Upon selecting the Agreement to access
the character menu the screen would go black and the console window would spam
messages about the IMM interface.
I grabbed the wine sources for the Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid) build for wine 1.1.10
and validated that the IMM sanity patch is in fact not applied to
dlls/imm32/imm.c
Edited dlls/imm32/imm.c by hand to add the sanity checks into
ImmSetCompositionStringA and ImmSetCompositionStringW.
Ran dpkg-buildpackage on modified sources.
Started FFXI in full-screen mode with Wine configured to emulate a desktop
environment. FFXI started up correctly and made it to past the character
selection screen and all the way into the game with much improved frame rates.
Still had to perform the F1+Enter+Enter trick (Which works on the PS2/PS3 as
well when the game feels randomly laggy for no-apparent reason).

The dialog box still comes up, but now the game no longer crashes;
dismissing the dialog (and the next one) let you get to the
non-saved-game version of the game. So it's improved, but not fixed.
