Shrinker 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4 compressed apps/games which suffered from the hook braindamage should load now. Movie Magic Screenwriter 2000 contained several Shrinker 3.3 and 3.4 compressed executables. If you find a version which still doesn't work, reopen and provide download location. A simple method to get the version number is to run the Shrinker compressed target with WINEDEBUG=+relay. This should give you a loader error because wine's relay thunks interfere with hooking mechanism (different entry signature). I have done some more testing, and I think I have a correct fix. I am still not sure if WM_SETREDRAW should be calling ME_RewrapRepaint, since it seems like overkill to rewrap all the paragraphs and repaint them. This would probably slow applications down that disable and enable redraw often. This could probably be dealt with separately, since there are some other ME_RewrapRepaint calls I saw that probably aren't needed. I also don't know how to change the scrollbar visibility without repainting it. DGA shared memory video was deprecated because it required superuser privileges (essentially it mapped the video memory into application memory space, so that a game could draw stuff at the fastest possible speed, provided that the window was completely uncovered). In essence, it was useless for security reasons. DGA mouse grab has never been deprecated, and is still fully supported in most xorg input modules (evdev did not support it until recently though). The example programs are Starcraft, Diablo II (yes I use wine for gaming). Some games are not affected by this bug (World of Warcraft). I've determined the commit responsible for this: commit dc224421416bd2616bfd52431388a6f9630bc860 Date: Mon Aug 18 21:00:26 2008 +0200 dsound: Tune some parameters to make pulseaudio work. I've reverted this commit on my copy of wine and it works fine for a while now. The problem extends to the fact that the scrollable area is not being updated properly with redraw disabled, so even though ME_EnsureVisible is called, it will still not scroll all the way to the bottom. This can be seen in eMule's log with the patch applied, since it will scroll to one line from the end of the text (which isn't an issue in this case since the last line is blank). I would need to spend more time on it to make sure it is correct, but this should at least identify the problem. What is happening is that eMule is turning off redraw with WM_SETREDRAW so that it can make several changes and redraw the screen once. This caused a problem when the commit that caused the regression put a conditional return statement in ME_UpdateRepaint before ME_EnsureVisible in order to prevent redrawing the screen after redraw was turned off. I had to mount the cdrom with the 'norock' option, else the files on the disk are not readable. The outer setup.exe still has problems. I tried winetricks -q volnum win2k wine setup and it seemed to sucessfully install mdac and dotnet11 (modulo the usual crashes). It however had a stack overflow error trying to install the actual product. (Possibly because the .msi file is expected to be named greatplains.msi, but is named greatp~1.msi because of the norock problem.) To work around the short names created by mounting norock, I created a directory full of symlinks to the files on the cdrom, but with long names. This changed things; now it failed with wine: Call from 0x7ee11140 to unimplemented function gdiplus.dll.GdiplusNotificationHook, aborting fixme:gdiplus:GdipGetLineSpacing stub! Adding 'winetricks gdiplus' helped! The setup init screen looked snazzier. It then fell over with fixme:shell:URL_ParseUrl failed to parse L"Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.Deployment.CommonDialogs.resources" and the dialog "Failed to load resources from resource file." So we're getting quite close. Let's call it a gdiplus bug for now. Interestingly, running winecfg and setting library comctl32.dll to NATIVE only in 0.9.43 and earlier will let wtreader run. But from 0.9.44 and on, if I set comctl32.dll to native only, a lot of error messages comes up trying to run the app, saying something like "error importing dll: comctl32.dll (needed by ...)" and also "error importing dll: commdlg.dll (needed by ...)" In a terminal, I try to run an install program "swb32c100.exe" ie: [pat@pat .wine]swb32v100.exe I see a progress window (horizonal progress bar) for a split second, then it goes away and I get an error message. (see attached) Someone posted the following response: this is a known (and annoying) bug in wine. Usually you could try a 'cabextract' on the executable, and the .msi file comes usually out (extracted), but here no msi file comes. >From a log I could see there should be a .msi file extraced somewhere in C:\\windows\\profiles\\yourname\\Application Data\\BreakPoint Software\\SIP Workbench v1\\install\\SIPWorkbench.msi but that didin't work-> no such file. If you really need install this application there's one work-around left: install with a very old wine-version ( i tried wine-0.9.32), and then it installs fine. (Actually, not even Word Viewer displays it correctly on Wine, but it does seem to be almost correct.) The document I have been trying to print is at: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/applicationforms/bulgariaroma… The first time I tried to print, Word Viewer said there were no printers installed. I think this was because I'd installed cups-pdf while Word Viewer was running. So I quit Word Viewer and ran it again. This time, when I tried to print, the Print dialog appeared, but when I pressed the Print button, I got an error dialog saying that there was a problem with printing - but it didn't give me any clue as to what the problem was. There was no error in the cups error log. If I do "echo hi|lp -" in Linux to print a test to a PDF file, this works. Sales invoices printed a blank page (all output is missing, just a get a single completely blank sheet of paper from the printer), but reports seem to print fine. Sounds like the same problem being described here. The problem is that the list of directories on the winegcc command line has /usr/X11R6/lib64 instead of /usr/X11R6/lib. Near the top of Makefile, EXTRALIBS = -L/usr/X11R6/lib64 -lXext -lX11 "lib64" has the 64-bit binaries, which won't link with the 32-bit object modules. I'm new to WINE, so I don't totally understand the build process, but it appears that the Makefile is built on the fly from Makefile.in, which has the definition: EXTRALIBS = @X_LIBS@ @X_PRE_LIBS@ @XLIB@ @X_EXTRA_LIBS@ Apparently, @X_LIBS@ comes from the "config.log" file, which contains: X_LIBS=' -L/usr/X11R6/lib64' Apparently, this was written by "./configure". When you press an arrow key to view differents parts of the map, it's like if the arrow key keep pressed. Example, you press an arrow key, then you've cross the entire map in one second instead of moving just a little, it's very difficult to play. I am using ATI fglrx (8.471.3), so this may only be an issue because of a driver bug. Something like: Enable the first; second will be disabled. Enable the second; first will be disabled. To reproduce the problem, extract http://files.miranda-im.org/builds/miranda-v080a11w.zip on Miranda folder. Extract lastseen plugin http://saaplugin.no-ip.info/seen/seenplugin.dll on Miranda/plugins And http://vasilich.org/mim/NSNw1126b1a.rar same thing. After this go to options page/plugins and try to enable new status notify and lastseen. You will see that only one can be enabled by time. I have 3 protocols installed on plugins folder MSN Yahoo and ICQ, but only ICQ appear on Menu and Status Bar. To reproduce the bug, download the last Miranda version: http://files.miranda-im.org/builds/miranda-v080a11w.zip Go to options page/contact list/status bar and enable show status bar. You can see that only one protocol appear on status bar and on menu status on top of windown. If you want to enable or disable protocol plugins, go to options page/plugins.
