ReportedBy: egjoni(a)worcester.edu
All menus and buttons seem to render and work perfectly in Anim8or. however,
the 3D opengl view renders just to the left of the main window. you still
manipulate by clicking where the image should be, but the image only renders
to the left. this makes any sort of 3D editing almost impossible. otherwise,
the program seems to work flawlessly.

The problem seems to a be a bad matrix for glOrtho (see attachment).

Summary: cannot enable/disable "emulate a virtual desktop"
setting per application
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.56.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: erpo41(a)gmail.com
For some applications, such as StarCraft, it is necessary to enable the
"Emulate a virtual desktop" setting. If this setting is not enabled, the
application will not run.
For other applications, such as the UltraVNC viewer, it is convenient to
disable the "Emulate a virtual desktop" setting. If this setting is not
disabled, the application is cumbersome to use.
Running winecfg to switch this option on or off before launching each
application is a real drag.
One solution to this problem would be to allow users to set the "Emulate a
virtual desktop" preference on a per-application basis. A comment in Bug #
11078 makes it clear that this would be difficult or complicated to implement.
However, the problem still needs to be solved in some way.

error log of Asda Story
Hi!
This is my fist Bugreport so I hopefully made it right.
In Asda Story (http://asda.gamengame.com/) are no 3D Objects.
To make it more detailed:
In the Title Screen are no 3D Objects at all. There are only a black
Background, and not the "Chest" which can be seen on Windows.
More serve is the missing Objects after the Login. Everything is missing. Only
the plain 3D Map is visible. No Objects at all. No Trees, no Buildings and no
Charactes and Monsters.
in my log are only the Login screen. because the game wrote too many fixmes to
copy out of the Console. (Don't know how to write a Logfile with wine)
And some more things are Strange:
Another User can actually play the game wuthout any Problems. Maybe it is a
compiling problem with the Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon version of wine 0.9.55?
My Info:
AMD Athlon 1833 MHz
512 MB RAM
NVIDIA Geforce 2
Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon (7.10)
Wine Version 0.9.55 (I had the same Problem in 0.9.54)

Tactical Ops 3.5 is a Total Modification of Unreal Tournament 99.
This game was a Gold in 0.9.55 and in 0.9.56 is complete Garbage.
It gives the next errors and doesn't open at all:
err:advapi:service_control_dispatcher pipe connect failed
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk "Core.dll" failed to initialize, aborting
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for
L"Z:\\home\\data\\Juegos\\Tactical Ops 35\\System\\TacticalOps.exe" failed,
status c0000005
Sadly this is the only game that i play, so i will have to go back to 0.9.55.
Core.dll is a dll located together with the .exe. Is part of the Unreal Engine,
so i think that any Unreal Engine based game will work on wine 0.9.56, and
those, all golds will become garbarge.
I leave you with some logs.

I've just replaced Ubuntu Gutsy with Debian Etch. With Ubuntu I've had no
problems running LFS via Wine (the latest versions). However when running it in
Debian Etch, LFS freezes as soon as I click the "Agree" button in the Agreement
screen (the screen just after selecting the driver name). At this point I am
forced to alt-tab back to the terminal and close LFS from there.
The only thing that looks out of the ordinary is a fixme message repeated more
than a dozen times when the Agree button is clicked (the message does not
appear before that action):
fixme:d3d:unloadNumberedArrays >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_ENUM (0x500) from
glDisableVertexAttribArrayARB(rgb) @ state.c / 2913
Note that this fixme did NOT occur when running LFS under Ubuntu 7.10 with Wine
0.9.55.
The latest Wine version available for Debian Etch is 0.9.55. I've tried running
LFS using 53 and 54, but encountered the identical problem.

Note :
1. This bug seems to be exactly the same I got running Panzer General
under Windows XP, without having activated the "Win 95/98 compatibility mode"
of the desktop shortcut.
But even if I say to Wine to emulate Win 95 or 98, it fails.
2. This bug is also reproductible under Windows 95/98 if you don't have the
original game CD in your drive when launching the game.
3. I have the legal CD (I bought it)

When I updated wine to the newest version (0.9.54), foobar2000 ran normaly (I

minimized in the tray icon without possibility to maximize it ! In fact,
thought the program was running, I couldn't see any foobar2000 window.
It would be great if you could correct this issue !
In the meantime, I went back to the 0.9.49 version :(

Gutsy and Delorme Installation procedure
I did a fresh install of Kubuntu Gutsy 7.10 on a new Compaq F750US and got all
updates from repositories. The complete procedure is in an attached file.
I then installed Delorme 2006 Plus using the procedure attached with nothing
other than WINE 0.9.46 as released by the Kubuntu repositories. I set the
default to Windows XP. The program did install with quite a few error messages
shown in the attached file. While installing the data CD, the number of errors
was too large and I could only get the last 50 pages or so.
I ran dmesg to get a listing for the hardware and any possible problems for
WINE to detect hardware related issues. The file is attached.
The program does start and does run. The graphics and text are poor quality,
and were much better when I used the Wine-doors as reported in another bug
report using the installation I over wrote.
Various functions do not work. One is the "Find Tab" error common with Delorme
(magnetic declination fix associated with DCOM and MDAC). Also, when tabbing
between boxes while attempting a search, the tab moves 2 boxes rather than 1.

Bit of an odd one, when you invoke the help system in Lord of the Rings Online
you get a window pop up (see screen shot), that window flickers while it loads

going black again).
If you move the cursor to where there is a link the cursor changes (so that you
can select the link) so it has loaded successfully it is almost as if the
background to the window is being drawn in front of the actual foreground.

(see attachment) does say "unhandled action", somewhat similar to 7397.
The problem is that when I start with "wine TaxCut2007.exe" I get the attached
error messages. The InstallShield installer does start, but then immediately
comes to a stop after extracting the .msi file, saying the wizard was
interrupted before TaxCut 2007 could be completely installed. My system was
not modified at all.
I should say I am a first-time user of wine (version 0.9.9 on Ubuntu Dapper
Drake).
Thanks for any help on this -- it is getting on to tax time. Please also copy
me at silbar(a)whistlesoft.com, in addition to this Bugzilla list.

Summary: Steam client, when I click on game, windows pops up

I've installed wine-0.9.54 on ubuntu 7.10 (system updated with the latest
patches, etc). Steam client installs and works fine after fixing gecko.
However, in the Steam client, when I click on CounterStrike Source game (or any
steam game in the game tab), I get a little window that says, 'Steam - The
latest version of DirectX is required' and it won't let the game start.
I get this error in spite of whatever '-dxlevel XX' I put in the command line
or start up options.
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=615763 see last posts #8,9,10 to
confirm others are seeing this also.
I've not done a bug report before, so I hope I put it in the right place and
right format.

I have applied all extra ideas from it :

BUT if I remove fonts, e.g.

It must be a Problem with wine because it's working good till version 0.9.48.
It's not working with wine versions 0.9.49 - .52.

I was willing to report the trace of the program without dcom98 installed, so I
figured out that deleting "~/.wine" could be a good idea to start over.
So I deleted it and then ran "wineconfig" to configure drive paths again, a
message box appeared (screenshot attached) telling me that it will create
"~/.wine" again, I cliked "Ok" ("Aceptar") and then I saw an output in the

I'm going to attach the trace in next post.

Both use the "intel" driver in xorg.
I copied the dx9 dll and started the game but observed that on both laptops the
game only came to the main menu with deactivated hw accelerated pixel shader in
winecfg but then of course is too slow to play.
If I have pixelshader activated it will freeze up my whole computer after the
game starts up.
Since this game is rated silver it probably has to do with me using an intel
card while others have nvidia?

seconds, until I close the contacts list. Other times, the video card graphics
get corrupted so badly that I have to power off the computer and power it back

I'm pretty sure this is trivial and I'm missing something here but whenever I
run Pokerstars, the window fonts render very ugly. I've Googled for this issue
and can't seem to find other people having this problem or a solution. I'm
running Sabayon 3.4 mini with Fontforge installed. I've looked at the font
settings in WineCFG but I don't seem to be able to change the right setting.
I'm thinking it could be a registry setting. If someone can lead me to the
right track on how to change this, i'd greatly appreciate it. I'll post
screenshots of this. I've only been able to reproduce this bug in PokerStars.
Oddly enough, when I copy all of the fonts from my windows installation to the
Fonts folder in drive_c, the font becomes bold.

After updating World of Warcraft to the latest patch, 2.2.0, sound seems to be
messed up when using the "OSS" driver. The sound appears to be "jerky" and
static, while the game itself runs fine. This may have something to do with the
update in WoW to support voice chat and their sound-driver.

Greetings,
A few weeks ago a friend of mine set Wine 0.9.41 to support Eve Online.
Other than a few of the graphical issues noted in previous bugs, I have seen no
issues, until I started moving from solar system to solar system. I am have
that I can warp anywhere within system without issue, however, when I attempt
to use a stargate, my system will hang intermittently.
Initially, I thought it might have been an issue with the Video card
overheating, or possibly memory issue, however, I have been able to eliminate
both of those as issues. Further, I have found that it does not matter if Eve
is in the foreground (covered over by another application such as firefox),
background, or in a window.
Please note that I did not start playing Eve until wine-0.9.41 come out, so
I have not tested previous versions, however, I have been able to replicate the
issue in wine-0.9.43.
When my system hangs, it is a complete system hang, CTRL-ALT-BKSP and SysReq
do not work. Additionally, just to be sure, I have tried to ping, ssh, and
even use a serial console and all of them fail.

Seems that there was some movement in InitializeSecurityContextA in wine-1.1.6.
Now when I try to connect I just get:
fixme:winhttp:WinHttpGetIEProxyConfigForCurrentUser returning no proxy used
and no other output. Things still fail to connect.
Is there a WINEDEBUG option that would give more useful output for the new
code?

Yes, but for XP and Vista it must be run in Windows 95 compatibility mode and

Wine has its own ddraw implementation which doesn't need it, and Windows

years. Found a guide to getting CS3 to install on wine-reviews.net. I set
gdiplus.dll to native, builtin.
First try of CS3, it loaded, but rendering toolboxes were very slow and choppy.
Installed comctl32, corefonts, dotnet20, gdiplus, allfonts, vcrun6 set to
winxp.
:~$ wine ~/.wine/drive_c/"Program Files"/"Adobe Photoshop CS3"/Photoshop.exe
there were a TON of fixme lines, after photoshop loads and finishes its initial
checking, it just flat out closes. the attachment contains information from the
point of run until it page faults with thread 0009.
Just before adding the attached log, I noticed that there is more than just one
unhandled page fault.

Most video drivers do not support DGA anymore. And most distros
disabled/removed it from default Xorg configuration. DGA also required
additional access to memory and other resources that considered a bad thing
now. So even if you enable it in xorg it won't run in most setups.
So for all practical purposes DGA is dead.

When application is showing richedit widget with long content, it shows a

When user is hovering the mouse cursor over the scrollbar, it should change to
an arrow, instead the "edit" type cursor stays on.
It's a minor issue, but should be reported. Cheers

Hi,
I have a go game with a fairly simple GUI that is built on wxWidgets/Win32. All
board drawing is done with normal DC functions, via a wxWidgets

I received several reports that the playing board does not show up when using
the program under Wine. There are (obviously) no problems under Windows.
It surprises me that it does not work as as only very basic Win32 GDI drawing
functions are used.
I am wondering if someone can take a look at this, it looks like a bug in wine.

+profile debug log
UniWS is a universal widescreen patcher used for multiple games.
At launch, wine fails to parse its .ini file correctly and uniws emits the
error message: "Your PATCHES.INI file is for a different patcher version. A new
version of Universal Widescreen Patcher may be available for download."
It turns out that patches.ini is in Mac format (CR-only line endings).
Converting it to CRLF allows the application to start and work.
This works out of the box on windows, only wine users have reported this error
message on message boards.
The shortcoming is in the kernel32:PROFILE_* set of functions. Ought to be
pretty straightforward to fix in PROFILE_Load. The +profile debug log shows the
bug quite clearly.

"This user account (NT AUTHORITY\'user name') does not have sufficient rights
to install SAS software"
This software only supports XP Professional and Vista Professional - not home
editions of either. Instructions say you should install it as administrator -
not as user. So I assume that the installer is expecting an account with
administrator privileges. However, I assume wine is only set up to install
user-level desktop applications.
So what may be needed is a way to emulate administrator and user levels within
wine.

URL: http://sake906.assaulttech1.com/AT1a215ins.exe
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: liquitsnake(a)gmx.net
When windows/system.ini has more than 20 lines (not counting empty lines), AT1,
a game, gives a dialog box on start complaining about "memory access violation"
and crashes. When I remove system.ini or remove at least 4 random lines in that
file, I don't get this error. It doesn't matter which lines I remove, but
longer lines with more text seem to work better
So I tried to find out if this is related to file size instead, so I filled the
file up with single bytes until it wouldn't work anymore. Indeed, there appears
to be a limit to working file-size, but this limit depends on WHAT you fill the
file up with. Strange.
After additional testing, I also discovered that I get the same phenomena with
win.ini. If i remove it or a few lines in that file, AT1 also starts working
again. Even combinations of removing lines in both win.ini and system.ini work!
I have to say, this is the strangest bug I've ever encountered. But I swear I
can fully reproduce it.

I think some time ago all DGA (and DGA2) support was ripped out of the wine
source.
I don't know why this happened, but since DGA is now considered deprecated
anyway I don't think any of this code will return. Most likely the input issues
are finally fixed when XInput2 hits the road. However this is still going to
take some time.
Can anyone (from the input devs) comment on the DGA "story"?

> CoTaskMemAlloc/Free do not use the same heap as the CRT.
> They use a dedicated heap created on your behalf when the OLE DLL loads.
No, on Windows these use system heap - the one returned by GetProcessHeap(). On
Wine they do the same.
> First, on the SysAllocString and SysFreeString, they are just convenience
> functions to CoTaskMemAlloc and CoTaskMemFree.
Sort of true :)
The culprit is probably BSTR caching; SysXxxString does not always allocate or
free memory for BSTRs so double frees would probably be caught by these
functions and silently discarded (I think checked oleaut32 version would cry
out loudly on such thing). See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/139071 for some
info and way to disable caching. Please try if disabling the cache will make
this app crash on Windows

Did another test of this in the last days.

works!
TSE server (non-dedicated) running natively on linux box, one linux client

At least for me this issue is fixed.

There's still a part of the playlist window visible - I haven't cut the
screenshot - it's how the playlist window looks like after being shaded.
In short, everything below "DJ MIKE LLAMA" title should be hidden (and it is
not).
However the problem doesn't affect main and equalizer WinAmp windows.

Also applies to Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI. (only the quartz bit)
That's definitely MPEG v1 System streams, so the fixme is correct.
file movie000.mpg
movie000.mpg: MPEG sequence, v1, system multiplex
Replacing quartz.dll with native allows the videos to play. (with a bit of a
stutter, but nevertheless) - not critical for that game, since it handles the
error nicely and just skips playing the video.

What's wrong with Winamp on your screen? The playlist just got "minimised" into
a thin bar (because you clicked on it), but it's displayed correctly.

Clicking once is enough ;)
This happens with empty .wine (1.1.5) and minimal WinAmp installation (5.541).

I haven't altered any wine or Winamp settings.
My DE is KDE 3.5.10 (Kwin window manager).

Can you attach a screenshot now? Because playlist window displays correctly for
me, even after clicking it 4 times.
Do you have "Allow window decorator to decorate windows" or something like that
enabled in Winecfg?

Archive containing some screenshots of object with precision problems
This issue is a part of bug 10592. In Empryan Age description login screen
doesn't flicker anymore + 10592 describes 2 different issues, as far as i
understand. So, i suggest to close it (separate into 2 new bugs).
Some objects have flickering textures. Attached archive shows flickering on
large collidable object, namely 'Ruins' - it's Gone Berserk lvl 4 mission.
Quickly scroll through them to get impression on what's happening - flickering
is pretty fast (at least 5-10 changes per second).
Hardware info attached (info_Kreo.txt). Archive with screenshots too
(screenshots.7z).
