Also, please try adding a builtin-only dlloverride for oleaut32.

WINEDEBUG=+wgl wine Wow.exe
I'm using a ATI/AMD 4850 HD on Ubuntu 8.04.1 64 Bit with wine 1.1.2.
The fglrx is correctly installed (Catalyst 8.7):
# fglrxinfo
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series
OpenGL version string: 2.1.7769 Release
# glxinfo | grep rendering
direct rendering: Yes
Native games work perfectly (90 fps in Savage 2), in the xorg.conf "UseFastTLS"
is set to "2".
But if i run WoW using the opengl API (SET gxApi "opengl") it runs slow and
with graphical corruption (missing minimap, missing textures), the cpu load is
at 100%, and WINEDEBUG=+wgl wine Wow.exe reports:
trace:wgl:X11DRV_WineGL_InitOpenglInfo Direct rendering enabled: False
It looks like wine doesn't use direct rendering even if it works everywhere
else.

The installation fails because of a clash between two files: version.dll
The installer extracts a file called version.dll in the temp directory, then
loads version.dll (but it loads wine's version.dll), and then tries to find an
entrypoint for the function "GetWindowsVersion", but that fails horribly.
I'm not sure if this can be fixed in wine (however, it works in windows...) A
simple workaround is set version.dll to "native, builtin" in winecfg, and then
the installation goes fine
Anyway, the bug in the file dialog is still present in newest ERViewer

I've found that they do work, just not the key modifiers, so you'll have to use
single key combinations.
Actually, I don't know this for sure since Razor crashes in .NET's
GetAsyncKeyState when you press a modifier with the Razor window active.
No, wait, I think I managed to edit the configuration manually, and the
modifiers did not work.

Yes, that's the program, the last version is 1.5.0 i think. You have to run

run it afterwards, in my case it's CS 1.6

The workaround provided in #1 does not work with Wine 1.0 and Lightroom 2.0.
Lightroom says "Lightroom cannot open the catalog named "blah" located on
volume "My Computer" because Lightroom cannot save changes to this location.
Lightroom Catalogs can not be opened on network volumes, removable storage, or
read only volumes." If the user tries to create a new catalog the error is
similar, with the words "open the" replaced with "create a".

"Not many apps depend directly on this behavior"
I suspect that there are a lot of apps that do depend on this behavior, it's
just that they have not been documented as such. When I was doing research to
figure out why medisoft would not run I found a lot of entries in your app
database that said words to the effect that program runs but networking does
not function.
I admit to being biased in wanting to see this fixed (bug #14501). But I also
believe that the impact of it has been underestimated.

I would like this function to get implented so people can use this app (ICQ6).
I know there are alternatives like pidgin or kopete but first Wine is supposed
to run win32 apps and ntdll is a critical component, second there are some
problems with libpurple and the new OSCAR-Protocol, which ICQ6 uses.

Is there any progress on this bug? Is there some support for BiDi?
I think that BiDi support will close the gap between the usability of Wine by
BiDi users (like Hebrew speakers etc) to the ones which don't need BiDi
support.
For example, Office 2003 works very well, but when opening documents which
contain Hebrew, Office becomes useless.

Anyway, the original bug reporter stated:
# eDrawings viewer installs on the system but buttons are not displayed on the
nstall screen until the mouse is directly over the button
# but fails to run while complaining of missing files.
# some of the files are in the same directory, but the application fails to
recognise them. I checked file permissions and found no problems.
The first bug is already filed by another one in bugzilla.
The second and third bug were due to missing msvcirt.dll, which wine now
implements. So let's resolve this one as fixed, and please open new bug reports
for new issues (reporting what version of eDrawingViewer is exactly used, i
guess this one was using 2006)

Looks like eDrawingsViewer is now at version 2008 (instead of 2007 where this
bugreport was about) For that to run i only needed install gdiplus:
'wget http://kegel.com/wine/winetricks && sh winetricks gdiplus'

Hello,
I am using a Logitech Formula Force EX on Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04.1. On Linux
itself I can address every button and axes (tested with jtest and jscal). But
when I am using Grand Prix Legends I can use the axis 0 (wheel), axis 1
(Throttle and Brake), button 0-3, but cannot use, for example, the back buttons
for shifting up and down.
Force Feedback works ok. I have loaded the evdev, joydev and iforce modules
into my kernel and this works perfectly. After some editing in GPL (adjust
lineair steering) the wheel works fine. Although I prefer shifting with the
back buttons, shifting with button 0 and 1 is fine too.
Oh, I am using wine 1.1.2, so maybe there are problems solved in the wine
version in relation to Force Feedback.

Hello,
same issue as bug 9742 or bug 10503
"start.exe" contains brain damaged code which conflicts with wine's handling of
DIBs (abused ESP while accessing DIB).
Interestingly that "hostile" code sequence is remarkably similar to the one I
analyzed in bug 9742.
You'll have to wait until the new DIB engine gets into wine tree ...
<insert Duke Nukem Forever joke here> ;-)

image of what you can see on screen
I get scrambled output on screen as soon as World of Warcraft (2.4.3) starts;
only the output is scrambled, it seems the card renders the image correctly in
X (a screen capture and a snapshot taken with a camera at thesame moment have
radically different appearance).
Other visible defects are already covered and worked around in other bug
reports, but this is actually a first.
Results are identical whether I use:
Catalyst 8.6 or 8.7
Wine 0.9.58, 1.0.0 or 1.1.2
d3d or opengl rendering
In the case of Catalyst 8.6, scrambling stays even after WoW and Wine stop; the
system will eventually crash. 8.7 actually recovers a little while after
application shutdown.
My system is Mandriva 2008.1 x86-64 Free, running on Athlon X2 with 2 Gb of DDR
RAM and a Sapphire RadeonHD 4850. Connection to screen is by DVI, I tried both
ports.
Could this actually be an Xorg bug? What can I do to test?

Hello!
I just replace my wine v1.1.0 with the new one (v1.1.1): now I cannot see any
cursor inside the mail editor. I can type something but I don't see where the
cursor is. The version before was v1.1.0 there it works.
Later I will do a regression testing
<http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting>. If someone is online and read this
maybe you do it like me.
If somebody is using a newer version of 'The Bat!' (Ritlabs comes actual with
v4.0.24): please check also this item.
Thanks for your attention.

Yes, CreateTimerQueue is fine now. But the rest is exactly as described in
"Comment #4 From Luke Hutchison".
I think now the installation has no problems.
But we don't know how to activate the IME.
In Windows2000/XP, there is a keyboard layout selector in system tray which can
switch IMEs. Here in wine, how can I switch IMEs?
Thanks to all

I had a look at a +shdocvw trace and looks like this is the problem:
warn:shdocvw:ClientSite_QueryInterface Unsupported interface
{9c2cad80-3424-11cf-b670-00aa004cd6d8}
the uuid belongs to interface IOleInPlaceSiteEx
I think that's the problem as the hack below makes the main gui start up fine
for me. The window remains still black, that can be "solved" by using native
oleaut32. Let's see how difficult it is to create some kind of acceptable
patch....

In current git it starts now fine for me using native shdocvw and oleaut32.
Without builtin shdocvw it just returns to the console after a certain time,
with native shdocvw the main window starts fine, but is all black. Needed
native oleaut32 to get the app functional, see screenshot. Didn't test really

Still present for me on stock Wine 1.1.0 (latest on Gentoo), using the latest
version of Weatherscope (1.6.1). If there's reason to believe this would be
fixed by 1.1.2, I can try to get that installed. Or I can update when a more
recent version is available.
Available at:
http://sdg.mesonet.org/builds/final/win/WeatherScope/WeatherScope-1.6.1.exe
Also, when running, don't forget to use full path, or it will crash. This is
technically a bug in Weatherscope, as it will crash on Windows without the full
path as well. It isn't really noticable on windows since using a link runs with
full path.
Run it using:
wine c:\\Program\ Files\\Weathersoft\\Weatherscope.exe
for the default install options.

Summary: DLL loading prolem when injecting into another
process
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.2
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: kernel32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: hongbo(a)njstar.com
I have observed a DLL loading prolem when injecting into another process.
For example,
In folder C:\DirA\, I have A.exe which is linked to B.dll, and B.dll is linked
to C.dll.
B.dll and C.dll are in same folder as A.exe.
If I run A.exe, B.dll and C.dll will be loaded without problem since they are
in same folder.
Support there is a process running C:\DirX\X.exe, and C:\DirX\ is not the
current folder and
it's not on PATH.
Now I inject B.dll from A.exe into process X.exe, the System will map
C:\DirA\B.dll into process X.exe.
Since B.dll is linked to C.dll, the system will try to load C.dll for process
X.exe. But because C.dll is not in same folder of process X.exe, wine failed to
load C.dll for X.exe. This cause DLL injection to fail.
Wine rror message:
err:module:import_dll Libary C.dll (which is needed by L"C:\\DirA\\B.dll) not
found.
Windows does not have this problem. So I am trying to find a solution.
I think when processing the imports for C:\DirA\B.dll to load C.dll, it should
try C:\DirA\C.dll first,
then form the standard load locations.
I think it should call load_library( "C:\DirA\C.dll ",
LOAD_WITH_ALTERED_SEARCH_PATH)
so C.dll can be loaded into C:\DirX\X.exe process.
I may also look into import_dll where the error occured.

Guess it depends on your definition of "a lot" :) Fast or slow makes no
difference, at least in my case.
Try putting several big files (e.g. Linux CD images) and leaving it running for
a couple days, you should stumble on it sooner or later. When it starts doing
it, it won't stop anyway, unless it crashes first. Usually I'm not downloading
files with more than some dozens of sources, that might make a difference or
not.
@ Anton, native not necessarily better = a badly written application does not
magically turn into a good one just because it's native. A well-written native
application is expected to offer /some/ advantages over an equivalent
non-native app but - depending on the metric used, the non-native app can still
be better than the good, native one (e.g. set of features)

Yep, this bug appears with pathnames having space. It stops on first space and

wine start 'c:\windows\profiles\All Users\Application Data'
It will open All Users, showing contents of profiles folder.

Okay, I've patched 1.1.2 with your patcha and now it does launch wine file,
but! it won't open the requested location (it is
c:\windows\profiles\<username>\Application Data\Watchtower\Research
Favourites\U\).
I am not too sure, but it seems to be some wine file bug, since it just does
not want to show up contents of Application Data folder in user folder. When I
click Application Data folder in the tree, the right pane just displays
contents of parent folder. So, I can't reach any contents of application data
folder in user folder.
See the screenshot: http://www.polosatus.ru/wine/winefile_bug.png
Hmm... Strange thing... When I right-click the Application Data folder in the
tree and select Select or Explorer items (first and second items, I have
localised wine), it does open the folder and I can reach it's subfolders.
Do you need some logs?

Hmm, working fine now. It wouldn't get past the system sound test yesterday.
Maybe my system was too busy...
Attempting to launch the game fails with a backtrace. Setting Direct3d to gdi

As for the last comment... I'm not so sure. Native is *of course* better, and
indeed the only reason I'm looking at running emule on wine. amule has all the
features I need but I'm getting weird and nasty system crashes very frequently
when running it. I have tested and retested my hardware and that's not the
cause. It just so happens that when running amule *everything* turns to
custard. So why not use emule? Well if I'm going to have my system heavily
overloaded just by running a windows app on wine then maybe there is another
option?

I updated my computer from a standard sized 1024x768 screen with a basic Radeon
to a 1280x800 widescreen with an Nvidia card, and the mouse sluggisness has
decresed somewhat. Switching to 16 bpp *does* significantly help on my machine,
but apparently it's not helping with other people.

Yep, if I remove the AVI directory, then the game starts. It is playable, but
often crashes if I muck around it the menus.

That's strange. Using wine version 1.0, it installs fine. But once it's
install, it will only run if I set HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D to
"gdi". What error message do you get?
Unfortunately, I can't test a later version right now, unless I compile it
myself from scratch. Which version are you using?

Has anyone tried one of the patches with Outcast? I tried the latest ones (for
the 1024x768 I modified 30 to 15, since in Outcast the resolution is exactly
half than that) manually patching my 1.1.2 version of Wine, and none worked,
neither fullscreen nor windowed, so if someone else instead managed to get it
work I'd be glad to know how...

my test program.

just an update --
I've tested today's git wine-1.1.2-253-g9b57217 with Nvidia driver 173.14.12 on
COD4 and the 3dmark hack wasn't required to run the game. The possibility
exists that this issue is addressed for 3dmark as well (I don't run it) and
that this bug could be closed.
