Hi, I updated Miranda IM
http://files.miranda-im.org/builds/miranda-v080a19w.zip for build 19 that has
as changelog: now all core protocols use the built-in SSL module
I tried to connect on protocols and didn't work. On linux console say:
fixme:wininet:NETCON_init can't use SSL, not compiled in.
I use the repository from wine on Linux Debian Lenny 64. Don't know why say
it's not compiled. Any idea?

Summary: Lotus Notes window unexpectedly changes position on

Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.2
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: Jan.Ploski(a)offis.de
I use wine to run the Lotus Notes 6.5.4 client. In wine 1.1.2 clicking on any
icon (e.g., mail, calendar) or on an open tab will cause the entire application
window to shift towards bottom-right by a few pixels. So after working a few
hours the window will have slipped off the screen (unless I reposition it
manually back to the top-left corner, of course).
This is a regression from wine 0.9.44. Let me know if and how I can provide
additional information to trace it down.

Anyway, it smells good for recent game support

wine output for disappearing in LotrO
At some point during playing LotrO my sound will disappear. This can happen
right at the character selection screen, or after playing anywhere from 10
seconds to over an hour.
I have played with the sound settings both game related (changing from OpenAL
to DirectSound and back in UserPreferences.ini) and in wine (changing emulation
level).
Nothing seems to work.
Oddly enough, the sounds when playing videos is still present, found that out
when sound died on me in the middle of an epic quest which was followed by a
video.
I have set the Gui_Launcher to save wine output but that seems to be unrelated
as I have seen that error mentioned by other players before.
This problem has been present at least since 1.0 for me.

I'm trying to track down how is it that (at least as of
wine-1.1.2-151-gc2c1a55) I did not apply the 3dmark patch yet and COD4 loaded
up just fine. This is a new hardy heron install using the 177.13 drivers (for
the 260/280 but with a 8800 GTS). I had to reinstall COD4 + 1.6 as well so I
am certain that I have not applied the patch (let alone the fact that none
exists for 1.1.2). It would be interesting to know if new code was put in wine
to remedy this issue or is that some driver versions have changed perhaps for
the better.

In the demo such issue never occurs, since only the first level is made

1.0. I'll try if it has been fixed in 1.1.2

Summary: Mordor: the Depths of Dejenol crashes
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.2
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: perchrh-wine(a)pvv.org
Summary: Game crashes with stacktrace, I got debug logs.
By installing the game in Windows (installer not working, bug #14696) and
running the installed version (it just extracts and copies some files around)
and renaming c:\windows\WAVEMIX.INI (to avoid bug #5349) I was able to start
the game.
The problem occurs when you click 'run' after selecting a character.

I was faced with random crashes during online games. Offline/local games
didn't crash (left a local server running in spectator mode overnight with no
issues), but as soon as I went into online games I would crash anywhere from 20
seconds to 10 minutes into the game.
I was able to fix this issue by setting hl2.exe to run in win98 mode. I am
guessing that the issue with directx and fonts is not being used with this
version of windows?
I am now able to play online for very extended periods of time (tested 4 hours
spectating a server+1 to 2 hours of actual play) with no disconnects, freezing
or other issues.

i'd like to add the following observations using Wine 1.1.2 in Ubuntu 8.04
"Hardy":
Symptom:
The application's graphics slow to a halt after a few seconds and fail to
update afterward unless movement of the mouse is initiated over the
application's window.
Expected Result:
Unhindered update of application's screen.
Actual result:
Reason graphics update concurrent with mouse movement over the window.

This is still an issue. My app (Mordor: the depths of dejenol, a game) failed
with a message about needing DDE: ddeml.dll to run.
touch $WINEPREFIX/windows/system/ddeml.dll did not make any difference.
Reverting the mentioned patch did the trick though. Using wine-1.1.2.

Huge fonts in GTK+ 2.0 program
I'm trying to run a simple GTK+ program, but there is something wrong with
fonts! They're really HUGE! It's just like wine uses the 1200dpi resolution.
There is a screenshot in attachment.
It's working ok when I recompiling and running it directly in linux.
I'm using a GTK+ 2.10 in my native environment and GTK+ 2.12 Win32 version
under wine.
P.S. Really sorry for my english ;)

No, it doesn't fix the bug (or work around it.) What it does do isn't that
interesting.
Folks, this is going to take quite a lot of work, so no need to keep checking
in to say it's still not working. Somebody doubtless will pop up and say
something if there's real progress made on this.

Tested this with TSE3: Morrowind version 1.2.0722.
When trying to change a control in the in-game menu (there is not other menu,
apart from editing the registry which is impossible without knowing how
scancodes/? are encoded there) the game sort of locks up.
The game doesn't recognize any keypresses and simply stops responding.
Also it doesn't update the key-action binding...
Makes it impossible to use anything else than the standard keyb config.
Since I dunno if the game uses dinput I left the component to unknown, but I'm
adding Vitaliy so he can take a look (hope you don't mind, eh?)
Any traces I can generate?
Greets,
Tobias

Those patches are more so hardcoded hacks and comment #12 details what would be
a proper fix. I am not sure if anyone has commenced work that would ultimately
remedy the problem or not.

Several patches that address few problems covered here are now committed.
Unfortunately I can't test much with my hardware - most FF-effects don't work
for some reason.

Summary: Minimize to tray on close/restore/minimize/restore with

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #12620 +++
Ubuntu Gutsy, Gnome and wine-0.9.59
Regression - NoteTab works pretty well in wine-0.9.58 (a few minor quirks)
Problem:
When NoteTab is launched, it only appears on the panel while loading. After
loading, it is nowhere to be seen on the panel. This makes it impossible to
minimize/maximize. If it is minimized from the application bar, it disappears
and there is no way to get it back. The process needs to be killed.
Photoshop and a few other Windows apps do not have this problem with
wine-0.9.59.
Testing:
Last night I installed wine-0.9.59 and NoteTab Pro 5.61 on a fresh install of
Ubuntu Gutsy on an old Dell and on Xubuntu Gutsy in Virtual Box.
Wine/NoteTab on the fresh install of Ubuntu produced the same bug which I
observed on three other Gutsy installs I tested including my new working box.
Several other NoteTab users also reported this bug on the NoteTab Linux list.
The shade format of XFCE handled minimizing NoteTab just fine. It has been
reported on the NoteTab Linux list, that it also works with KDE and XFCE on
Slackware.
I thought it might be related to Compiz that is running on my new machine but
since the bug also appeared on the old Dell that doesn't seem to be the case.
The bug seems to be Gnome specific.
NoteTab author, Eric Fookes also posted these comments which might be helpful
in correcting it:
"I suspect these issues affect any application that was compiled with Borland
Delphi. I very much doubt that NoteTab is the only application affected.
"Unlike programs created with other compilers, Delphi programs use an invisible
application window and a main application form that is the visible part of the
program. The Wine developers need to take this special approach into account if
they want their product to work correctly with all Delphi applications."
I searched and found several other possibly related bugs But wanted to report
the Gnome specificity and also the comments about Borland Delphi.
I have rolled back to wine-0.9.58 for the moment.
***new part***
I'm experiencing the exact problem with a "run-out-of-box" web server, Turbo
Delphi-based, HFS by
Rejetto.
Its tray icon appears, but can't minimize it to tray (it exits!) even if the
option "minimize to tray on close" is switched on.
Seems there are major problems about minimize/open/restore with this app(works
correctly on Windows).
Mine is set to start in tray: it shows its window for half a second then
hiddens
itself in tray, this works.
[But]:
1)if I double click on the tray icon it doesn't show up. Done this, I can't no
more click the restore button on right click menu.
2)If I remember to click restore it shows its window, but not in the bottom bar
nor in alt-tab.
3)It really goes nowhere if I minimize it, I must close it then.
4)So, the only way to show it correctly is to right click and let it do a "Self
test", which at the end opens a dialog box with a message, and voilà , seems
like this is what makes its window appear, and so the icon in the bottom bar.
4)As just complained, mine is set to minimize to tray if closed. Instead, it
simply closes.[THIS
BUG].
Tried to obtain a new build from its helpful coder Rejetto to make it appear
always as it does after self test, but nothing to do.
Oh, Wine 1.1.2 and Ubuntu 8.04.1.Seems like all this worked correctly with
*some* old Wine builds.

Hi,
I've recently bought TomTom GO 920 (unfortunately, I did not check the Linux
support thoroughly, I just googled for the app name and I've found some post
saying that it works in wine ...) and I have the same problem.
The strange thing, in my case, is that after connecting the device to the
computer, it does not ask whether I want to connect to the computer (but it
does if I connect it to a Windows machine), however I am still able to mount
both the internal storage and the SD card read-write.
I tried to read through the comments, but I do not understand what it is all
about :-( However, If somebody provides straight steb-by-step how-to, I can
help testing using my device.

Daniel Valot has several games available for download at
http://dvalot.free.fr/games.htm
This bug is in the 'classic' or 'ascii' (non-.NET) version of his ShiShenSho.
My wife plays this often, and problems in it are a showstopper
for migration to Linux (see http://kegel.com/wine/migrating-user-1.html).
The game plays tolerably in Linux (once you figure out to click the 'X'
icon on the left bar to get fullscreenish mode), right up until
the end. When you successfully complete a level, it's supposed
to display an octagonal window with some choices, but
on Wine, it's not displayed properly - there's only a white
octagon, sometimes missing some text. You can move the octagon around
and if you cover and uncover it, part of it gets drawn better, but it's
still not right, I think.
The tough part is, I don't have a recipe to reproduce,
other than 'play a level and win'. I'll see if I can find
a way to load a game on the verge of winning, and attach
the saved game file.

Worms Armageddon is an old game. It requires DirectX 7 and is created mainly

know).
While running the game, it freezes the X if wine is set to operate in full
screen mode. If it is set to emulate a virtual desktop, then game just stands
still - it doesn't even show the main menu.
I've provided the console output of the wine whilst running the game.

OK, I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, this bug is NOT FIXED.
Under SUSE 10 or 11, under Zenwalk (Slackware-derived) from
ibiblio.org(current), which both have wine 1.0, the bug persists. I tried to
vary most of the winecfg options that seemed relevant (os version, graphics
options).
The nature of the problem has definitely changed, as the face of the
instruments is no longer black, and the graphics screens are re-drawn properly.
However, roughly half of the text-based selector widgets are blank. For
example, on the face of the scope (both small and enlarged version the same),
the time base is blank. The vertical resolution on the two channels is blank.
On the function generator, the NUMERICAL widget for the frequency is shown
properly, while the UNITS widget (Hz/kHz/MHz... etc) is blank.
When clicked on the widget arrows, the program performs as expected, changing
the values/settings for both the displayed and the blanked-out widget, but the
usability is severely affected, as one never knows what the values are.
Very frustrating, as it seems so close. Could it be some missing fonts? font
colours?
Please, REOPEN the bug.
In addition, the crashing on exit when using the window-close button has become
much more severe, it goes into an infinite loop, while before it would give a
handful of errors, but eventually crash out. Now, it generates an endless
stream of Error pop-ups, and no amount of clicking OK ever exits wine, it needs
to be explicitly killed using kill/killall.

In some windows graphical aplications, eg. Originpro7.5 or igor, text rotated

I'm using opensuse 11.0 and with the wine version that comes with the linux
distribution (0.964, rc3) everything works quite well but with all the wine
updates afterwards, at least since 1.0, including the daily snapshots the
vertical text is not displayed, I can produce screenshots. There is no error
output when I run wine in a terminal so I do not know what aditional
information I could give.

If you give atoi a string of an unsigned integer (>2^31) the wine

The GNU-libc and the windows implementation gives the correct, unsigned

Screenshot of normal text and a form
I am running PC-BSD V1.5.1 and used the latest PBI update to update Wine from
the 1.0 series to 1.1.0 and all appeared to go OK. I have been using Wine since
the 0.9.x series to do my Taxes with a Windows version of TaxAct and it has
worked fine with the exception of a couple of minor problems.
After doing the update I ran up TaxAct and the first screen appeared normal.
All the text looked as it has all along. However, when I open up a form to
display the fonts appear to be grossly enlarged and the form is completely
unreadable. If I tab to an entry box that appears to be normal but any values
entered become unreadable when I tab away from it.
Attached are two screen shots, one of the text screen and the other of a form.
Please contact me if you need any additional information.

I just finished building and trying wine-1.1.0 with the app I maintain,
Mozart9. Unfortunately, although the app works well in wine (gold), browsing
_within_ the html help files appears broken.
The difficulty can be demonstrated most easily with the free Mozart "Viewer."
This is a helper app that allows a user to view Mozart's *.mz files, available
at:
http://www.mozart.co.uk/programs/mvsetup.exe
With the viewer installed, try: Help -> Help Topics -> Ordering Mozart
This will expand a list with "Ordering Mozart" as its first topic.
Choosing this correctly opens the first topic's help file and renders it with:
1) The banner graphic not displayed
2) The links to different ordering methods highlighted as active,
but not active. I.E., clicking on the link: "Ordering Mozart on line
via the internet" does not open the local url.
The link target for #2 above is present and available as the second topic in
the expanded topic list. However, trying to follow the link to it in the
first topic fails. Choosing the the second topic itself from the exploded list
will open the target page.
>From within the help display, links to external url's seems to work well.
For example the link to the Mozart home page opens without problems. The
problems appear limited to referencing links with targets in the help file
itself. The ordinary advantages of html help "cross-referencing" are missing
in this app.
I used Wine 1.1.0 on Linux, Slackware 12.1, a clean build, with apps
MozartViewer2006, and Mozart 9.2.7.0 (the full pgm.)

Hi there,
the problem was partially discussed in this thread:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13225
You can find the interesting logfile in this attachment (also from the
mentioned thread):
http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=13855
The problem is that I get a log of these errors
err:d3d_surface:d3dfmt_p8_init_palette This code should never get entered for
DirectDraw!, expect problems
on the console while running the Sacrifice demo.
This doesn't seem to have any effect on the visuals, since I don't see any
obvious errors on the screen. However the statement "This code should never get
entered for DirectDraw!" indicates that this behaviour is NOT normal, so I'm
filing this as a bug here.
Hardware is:
nVidia GeforceFX 5900
Drivers are:
nvidia-drivers-100.14.19
I can create traces if needed! Just ask :-)
Greets,
Tobias Jakobi

that opening an existing image from the initial "what

thebat under 0.9.57 - bad icons
TheBat ver.3.99.1, works fine under wine 0.9.46-55. Some little problem
(doesn't work "send" buttom in composer, doesn't connect to gmail using SSL)
but usable.
After 0.9.56 all icons transform to white squares. Tried 0.9.57 - same effect.
Go back at 0.9.55.

this throws an unhandled exception.
Logfile is attached.
This app starts with a 2D 800x600x16b menu then when game plays the 3D

PokerAce Hud works with wine versions <=0.9.43. On versions >=0.9.45 there is
an error message during start-up titled "PAHud error" stating "Timer creation
failed".
There is no related information in the log.
I assume the message is about an error when registering a timer to poll
hand-history directories for new files. The application still runs with wine
>=0.9.45, but it fails to find new tables and is therefore rendered useless.

I found a way to play without crashing while trying to render the MOTD...
Go to your /cstrike directory and open the motd_temp.html file with a text
editor. (If it does not exist, create one and make it read only. That's it, you
are good to go.)
Erase everything in it(simplify the html code) save it, and make it a read-only
file. This is it, when you join a server your client won't be able to save the
servers MOTD html code which crashes you. It will show your empty MOTD instead.
I know this is not a solution for this bug but it's a good trick to escape from
it if you just want to play the game.

Agreed, the installer works like a champ today.
(Note: I then tested one of the apps it installed just to
make sure the install was ok. dreamweaver mx seemed to hang on splash screen,
but it was just enumerating files in /proc like
crazy; removing the Z: symlink got past that. I don't
know whether to file a bug for that or not.)

You did download the modified dll and put it in your EQ directory right? :)
Just making sure...Otherwise, you could try modifying the wine source to see if
you get a different result for some reason. Another thing, was this working for
you ever under a different version of wine?

Summary: Diablo II windowed hangs forever when it loses focus
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.1
Platform: PC

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

Diablo II, starting with Wine 1.1.0, hangs forever and spins the CPU when it
loses focus. It does not draw/update its window, though the music will continue
to play forever, and I am forced to wineserver -k.
This is not true of wine 1.0-rc4-42-gd93fa6a, so I'll be doing a git bisect
over the next day or two to find the offending patch.

OK, so it does work with audio disabled, as has already been said, but trying
to run a copy of popcapgame1.exe exits immediately to a Vis C++ runtime error.
Anyway, will update appdb.

For the sound problems, poking around with winedbg and the tracing facilities
on Wine 1.0 has led me to the suggestion that
BIOSDATA *pBiosData = DOSVM_BiosData();
in dosmem.c, function DOSMEM_InitDosMemory(), might be what is causing
problems.
As for the problem saving the game, touching the name of the file I wanted to
save into seems to have fixed the problem.

Debug report from running This Sims 2
Installed The Sims 2 on a clean wine 1.0 installation (The latest my Distro
provides). Installed fine. Started program, got a splash screen. Then most of
the screen went black and hung. Was able to kill program and save console debug
output. I even tried to add the .dll's listed at the beginning of the debug
info from my Windows installation. Still not luck, got a similar output
message.

Most things in winecfg can be configured on a per app basis, but sound cannot.
This would help some apps (e.g. Steam), which conflict on sound. This way,
steam.exe could be disabled, but it's child apps would still get sound.

workaround for BITS
These are credentials for the proxy, so on a private computer this should not
be a problem. I'd expect the SSPI doesn't need to be used in BITS directly but
in a lower level library. We currently use urlmon, however so far I haven't
found APIs to choose the method of authentification (e.g. basic vs digest) or
http file upload. AFAIK lower-level libraries like wininet or winhttp supports
it. But it's possible that urlmon also provides some obscure interfaces to
support it.
The installer needs two more functions from BITS. With this patch that makes
them return S_OK it downloads the file, but then fail because of unimplemented
crypt32.CryptMsgGetAndVerifySigner. I don't know how hard it is to implement.
Ramiro: this bug is about version 2005. For version 2008 you should create
another bug - it's possible it will be harder to fix than 2005.

I'm not sure what is failing for you. Are you using an ATI card or NVIDIA card?
I installed wine 1.1.1 built from source. I then wiped my ~/.wine completely
and reinstalled EQ. Everything works fine with the modified dll. Your problem
sounded closely related to the TextureCache option issue. That is why I
suggested it.
Wine 1.1.1 has the same behavior as previous versions with EverQuest.
1. You must use the modified dll to get models to display properly.
2. TextureCache must be FALSE
3. VertexShaders must be TRUE
4. You have to use an NVIDIA card to get the best results with the modified dll
5. You have to run EQ on a single core on dual core systems. (Assumed since I
don't have a dual core machine to test this explicitly with)

This has been happening to me for the past few months practically every time I
start the game unless I invoke the workaround I found.
Basically, before I start tf2, I start the following script running in a
separate terminal window: "while ! killall -STOP hl2.exe; do sleep .1; done;
sleep 5; killall -CONT hl2.exe" Works every time that way. The problem seems
to be that steam launches the game first, and *then* releases the resources
that the game expects to be able to use. Some kind of difference in processor
or disk scheduling means that the game starts quicker than steam is expecting,
leading to the resource conflict. Anything you can do to delay the game from
actually running after steam launches it makes it more likely that the whole
process will succeed. I suspect that is why some of you are having luck with
'sync' commands. Deleting some cache files and forcing the game to regenerate
them before starting probably has a similar effect.
Not sure of a good way to fix this in wine though. Obviously you could
hardcode some kind of a sleep any time a process named "hl2.exe" is launched,
but that's not very satisfying. When the bug is ultimately in steam though,
not sure what more can be done.

Yes, the bug is still there, Newer versions of the software now use .NET
instead of VB, so this particular bug affects versions 2.xx, I tried to run
version 3.x but .NET install gives plenty of errors and the app does not run.
I have a trial copy of version 2.54 that I can email anyone on request.
The bug is still present with version 1.1.1 of wine running on Debian Etch.
I have also uploaded tree images to test the average/hdr with and help
reproduce the bug.
