Works for me. which version of wine, and can you try
a clean .wine directory? i.e.
cd $HOME
mv .wine .wine.bak
and then reinstall the app?
Sometimes stuff previously installed, or settings previously made,
can interfere with new apps.

I vote for this bug to be re-opened. It's not a duplicate, because I made a
patch which makes the game run, without needing to crack the exe first. The bug
that causes this is a DirectSound3D bug(in dll/dsound/sound3d.c). It was fixed
by implementing the ability to return an interface from
IDirectSound3DListenerImpl_QueryInterface with the IID mentioned in the log
file:
look for: fixme:dsound3d:IDirectSound3DListenerImpl_QueryInterface Unknown IID
{31efac30-515c-11d0-a9aa-00aa0061be93}
I am attaching a patch which I have applied to the local copy of the current
GIT, and which works fine for me.

Works for me with the demo, the overhang and transparent ground have gone.
Now, when panning the view around there are some black spots on the ground
where there should be a texture and some odd dots and thin black lines
elsewhere. Screenshot attached. NVIDIA 100.14.19, GeForce 8800.

How do I use the current git, what is git? I have this issue too. I'm using
wine 1.0.0 and setting the shader to fbo does fix this but makes the game
unplayable due to such low frame rates.

Work around: Save parameters as a 'set' and edit them in a text editor. Then
load back modified parameters.
That way you can use compiled EA if you do not have sources to modify original
set of parameters.

Eventually, when moving the mouse for some seconds, X hangs up: It seems like
the graphics card is turning on and off infinitely. The screen switches between
displaying nothing and displaying a black screen. No more switching to a VT

Summary: Wine freezes the whole system -> hardware reset -
Warcraft III
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: clemensb(a)gmx.net
Sometimes Warcraft III crashes the whole system - the display freezes, i can
see the last frame of the game... and can do nothing but a hardware reset. I
marked this bug critical cause I think the real big problem isn't that Warcraft
III freezes the system - the terrifying thing is the fact that wine is able to
crashes my whole system, making me unable to do anything but a hardware reset.
It occurs on my ThinkPad R61 with integrated Intel GMA965 X3100 graphic card.
It doesn't matter if its 64 or 32-Bit, i tried several Ubuntu and Archlinux
versions, with different mesa/X/drivers. It occurs in all wine version i've
used so far... maybe on some more often, on some less. It's total random when
it happens - but most of the time when I change from X (Gnome) to Warcraft
(Alt-Tab or things like that) or the other way round.
So I guess the main question is, why is wine able to crashes my system? Why I'm
not able to do something other than a hardware reset? But of course, it's a big
problem too that Warcraft III freezes.
Please ask me anything with wich i can help you.

Summary: winehelp: various bugs
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.0
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: programs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: markk(a)clara.co.uk
Created an attachment (id=14567)

Crash log
This is a list of various bugs I have found in Wine's winhelp implementation,
as compared to running WINHLP32.EXE from Windows 95 under Wine.
Broken "imagemaps": Load whatsnew.help. You should be able to click the text in
the image to go to various pages, but Wine winhelp does not allow you to do
that.
Moving/resizing main window: For some help files, Wine winhelp moves and
resizes the main window whenever links or navigation buttons are clicked.
Windows 95 winhelp does not do that. Load msdncd.hlp and move or resize the
winhelp window. As soon as you click a link or button, the window is moved to
its previous size and position.
The msdncd.hlp file also shows up other bugs:
- At the top of each page there should be a grey bar. This does not appear in
Wine winhelp.
- On the "Opening Books and Topics" page, the paragraph formatting is
incorrect. (The paragraph corresponding to each icon should appear to the right
of it.)
- On "Searching for Words and Phrases", paragraph formatting is also
incorrect. Also, the example text should be rendered in bold.
- Clicking the >> button when on the "Searching for Words and Phrases" page
causes winhelp to crash, reporting
caret.c:449: ME_InsertTableCellFromCursor: Assertion
`run->member.run.pCell->next' failed.
wine: Assertion failed at address 0xb7f5c410 (thread 0045), starting
debugger...
(See the log attached for rest of the output)
relnotes.hlp also shows the paragraph formatting problem.
Hang with 100% CPU use: Load quenzar.hlp. CPU usage goes to 100% for about a
minute (on my old slow PC), but the help window does open eventually.
Font sizes: Wine winhelp uses much smaller fonts than Windows 95 Winhelp. The
Wine "Normal" font is smaller than the Windows 95 "Small" font etc.
Window titles: The Wine winhelp title bar always says "WINE Help". Windows 95
Winhelp shows instead the help file title and filename, e.g. "GNU Chess Help -
chess.hlp".
Missing scroll bar: Sometimes the vertical scroll bar is incorrectly omitted.
Start Wine winhlp32, and without resizing its window, open chess.hlp. Click on
"Article: What is GNU Chess". The bottom line is not shown but there is no
vertical scroll bar. If you resize the window (e.g. make it narrower) the
scroll bar may appear, but sometimes it does not, depending on the exact width
you resize to.
On loading chess.hlp, Wine reports
err:winhelp:HLPFILE_DoReadHlpFile buf[0x14] = 0
If you then click "GNU Chess sample match with MACH", Wine reports
fixme:winhelp:HLPFILE_BrowseParagraph Unsupported bits 4200, potential
trouble ahead
(repeated many times)
On loading emle.hlp, Wine reports
err:winhelp:HLPFILE_DoReadHlpFile buf[0x14] = 0
fixme:winhelp:HLPFILE_BrowseParagraph Unsupported bits 2204, potential
trouble ahead
(second line repeats if you click any links)
On loading pphelp.hlp, Wine reports
fixme:winhelp:MACRO_SetHelpOnFile ("PPHELP.HLP")
(repeated whenever you click a link)
Extraneous flashing cursor/caret: Wine winhelp shows a flashing cursor/caret
symbol when you click somewhere in the text. Windows winhelp does not do that.
The current behaviour may be desired, e.g. it makes selecting text using the
keyboard possible. However...
- Click in the page so the cursor is shown, then click on a link to go to
another page. A flashing cursor is present at the top left before you click in
the page.
- On some help pages, the flashing cursor is present at the top left even
before the user clicks in the page. Also, if there is a large graphic at the
top left, a huge flashing cursor may appear (see cwdeluxe.hlp and click on the
picture). Windows 95 Winhelp does not allow images to be selected.
Mouse pointer flickering: When moving the mouse pointer over the help window,
the pointer flickers between the normal X pointer (white arrow) and an
insertion point (and also a black arrow). The pointer does not flicker at all
when running Windows 95 Winhelp under Wine. (There it is always an insertion
point, changing to a hand when over a clickable link.)
Missing << and >> buttons: For many help files, the forward and back buttons
(<< and >>) are not shown in Wine winhelp. However they do appear with other
help files (e.g. pphelp.hlp).
Wrong initial position in page: Load winrisk.hlp into Wine winhelp. Resize the
window to be about half its original width and height. Click the Contents
button. The view moves about half-way down the page. Click "Revision History".
The view is over half-way down the page. (In both cases, Windows 95 winhelp
remains at the top of the page.)
Search: The search button is not implemented in Wine winhelp, Wine reporting
fixme:winhelp:MACRO_Search ()
when that button is clicked. The Topics button does bring up a list of topics,
but:
- selecting a topic and clicking OK does not always go to the correct page
(see castle1.hlp)
- it should be possible to select a topic by double-clicking.
Opaque drop shadows: The drop shadows on popup boxes are solid black. Windows
winhelp uses a cross-hatch pattern, so drop shadows appear semi-transparent.

I've the same problem with SecuROM (v7_01) when using 'Cambridge English
Pronunciation Dictionary - 17th Edition'.
I can't run, because of 'No disc inserted' message (after run from disc and
even from cdrom directly).
I tried both patches ('securom hack/patch' and 'securom 7.x into appcompat
mode' using crypt32.dll -> aclayers.dll) and no one is working correctly. Still
'No disc inserted' message.

FWIW - Using EverNote 2.2.1.386 I saw something similar where the at the top
and bottom of the Window there was a scrambled box. I am using wine-1.1.0 and
only Wine DLLs.
I was able to resolve the issue by resizing the Window and continued resizing.
I have not been able to reproduce this again. (Note I am running Compiz which
may or may not be related)
Have you since re-tested this Peter?

I have seen a related issue with EverNote 2.2.1.386 where it requires shared
writable mmap.
This is occurring with Wine 1.0 on Ubuntu Hardy (8.04) libfuse 2.7.2 Kernel
2.6.24-19.
There seems to be suggestion it is fixed in kernel 2.6.26 RC6 and/or possibly
libfuse 2.7.3

menu items missing after installing Word Perfect Office 11 with Wine 1.1.0.
The symptoms are somewhat different. There are no err:menubuilder messages.
The set of icon .xpm files left in C:\windows\temp is incomplete (whereas there
was always a complete set for WPO 12 and WPO X3 even with Wine 1.0). For each
icon .xpm in C:\windows\temp there is a menu item.

Hmm. I just installed with a default (as far as I can tell) wine (1.0), no
gecko or IE, or winetricks.
All I did was change the default settings to "Windows 98", and the installer
went through just fine.

There are still plenty of people that use PT2 because of the fact that PT3
still has too many bugs/problems. I don't think this software is ready to be
deemed obsolete until PT3 becomes stable.

Thanks for your effort too. :-) Can you post your latest set of patches here
or a link to them so I can at least patch the source manually? I noticed as of
1.1 some changes were made in areas where your previous patches were making
changes and as a result, I'm not sure what to change to make them work again
for 1.1.

It's a pretty rare bug, so I'm going to remove the regression keyword. I only
run into once every couple days. If I had to guess, Maarten's quartz patches
are helping, but I can't confirm that for sure.

console_output_dvdshrink_crash
It still happens, but my experience is that it has been getting increasingly
rare with each new version of Wine since about 0.9.58. I had to make an effort
to reproduce the behavior. The log is from a test on openSUSE 10.3, Wine 1.1.0,
with no dll overrides or any other tweaks.
On my system, the crash only occurs under very specific conditions: after the
program has finished encoding, abruptly moving the mouse pointer toward the
erase icon located above the list of files in the lefthand column without
having selected the file to be removed from the list first. It seems more
likely to happen in re-author mode, though that could just be because I am more
likely to move the mouse in that way when doing multiple encodings.
As far as it being a regression, I wasn't using Wine that far back, so I can't
confirm that.

At last i've managed to run PuzzleQuest.
I've additionally added other directplay dll's from archive noted in WBC
workaround. And also reinitialized ALSA sound system in winecfg.
So workaround for PuzzleQuest in AppDB should be corrected.

Debug output from firing up Wine with Quickbooks.
I have just built Wine 0.9.61 under Gentoo. I fired up my copy of Quickbooks,
which appeared to work but still generated some diagnostic output as QB started
(attached).
The version of QB that I am running is 3.0. I know that it is old, but the
debug trace indicates that there are still problems with your emulation, so I
though that this was worth submitting. Last time that I tried this it did not
work at all.
The file system that QB resides on is a real NT4 system, Samba mounted on to
Linux-gentoo/x86.
I have done some fiddling around with QB under Wine. It appears to work OK, but
I have not tried doing any transactions that update the data files. I am
looking forwards to throwing out my 'doze box.

unplayable. I tried to lower the setting and resolution but they don't help. It
looks like this is a CPU-limited issue. So please improve the openGL conversion

I like Woms Armageddon. But DirectDraw patch don't works since 0.9.52 version.
I'm using older versions of Wine. LiveCD's! It is possible to play in newest
versions of Wine with old patch + user32 patch, but... At the begining, this is
2x patches to source code. After this, putting this dll's to WA directory and
recompiling Wine without patches! The best version toplay is 0.9.41-0.9.44 -
you can change sound volume in the game. In 0.9.30 I can't do this. After
0.9.44 (I don't remember right version), I see some troubles. I can't press any
button after clicking "Cancel" when WA is making connect to a game. With Wine
newest that 0.9.52, with patches, I have MANY bugs! I can't write texts on IRC
chat before game. I can't change scheme of the game. Game uses 70% of processor
time... I see slow when activate Indian Nuclear test.
I don't test this game after 1.0-rc1. It was silver, it is bronze now.

Installation reports an error registering STRIP.OCX. When manually registering
using "wine regsvr32 strip.ocx" it can be seen that the problem is due to
MFC42.DLL. After copying that file to windows/system32, strip.ocx registers
successfully. However, when starting the application, the vehicle settings are
either not loaded successfully, or they aren't displayed correctly, as all the
controls maintain their initial defaults. No errors are displayed in the
application once dosdevices/com1 is mapped correctly.
The DLL's loaded and fixme results of WINEDEBUG=+loaddll are listed in the

The software is technically retail, though it isn't really useful without the
hardware box. I can provide the installation package to a developer if they
would like.

I think this problem is getting worse. i have to verify the game cache every
time (easily reproduceable) I exit halflife 2 episode 2 (for me it doesn't
occur on half life 2). i think the game is not cleanly shutdown when you quit
and so it throws a flag up and displays the error message we are seeing, until
we check the game cache. not sure though because I'm not a programmer.

This issue affects a huge number of older setup/installer programs. While the
resulting error messages are non-fatal in some cases (i.e. the user can
manually run the installed program afterwards), in many others the installer
aborts. That's a shame because Wine would probably be able to run most of the
programs fine.

Blizzards new patch that came out today seems to have changed something. At
least it's working for me now with wine 1.0.1. I've been able to play 2
battle.net games which lasted about 15 minutes each.
The bad thing is, the auto-update of the Blizzard-Patch breaks many
installations, even on windows. WC3 didn't start anymore asking for the correct
CD after updating to 1.22.
Installing MS C++ 2005 SP1 fixes this problem:

Hope that longer games work too, need to test though.....

Summary: empty screenshot thumbnail in load game dialog
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.57.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: hoehle(a)users.sourceforge.net
Hi,
some games display, in their "Load Saved Game" dialog, a list of
thumbnails of screenshots taken at the time of "Save Game". For some
games, these screenshots are all blank (black).
This affects Syberia 2, among others.
I inspected the Syberia2 save game files. It contains, beside a few
strings, thousands of occurrences of the sequence 00 00 00 FF. This
made me believe that the application does not manage to create
the screenshot thumbnail during save, saves black pictures and
displays those in the load dialog. I.e. not Load is broken, Save is.
I replaced some of these 00 with FF and saw white lines appear in the Load
dialog, confirming this supposition.
I'm using wine 0.9.57 on Ubuntu Dapper & Gutsy, compiled myself. I don't know
whether the problem can be caused by a missing *-dev.deb package on my side
(e.g. configure reports no XComposite nor gphoto headers).
The bug has been mentioned by the OP of the 0.9.44 test result of Syberia2.
Regards,

The tests are fairly long and complex so I've broken it up into a patch series.
Can people who are interested help me test this.
The first patch is here:

When I formatted my laptop and installed ubuntu hardy, wine by default starts
up with massive fonts. I tried to fiddle with the configuration files, but it
doesn't seem to make any difference (and the files get changed back
automatically as soon as the configuration app is run). As a result, I can only
see the top half of this massive window, even on my maximum resolution
(1920x1200), and I cannot configure wine properly.
The same fonts are used in notepad.
Also, for some reason, when I choose fonts in notepad, the fonts aren't
displayed properly ... there's gibberrish instead.
I couldn't find anybody else having the same problem on google or winehq, but
given that this occurred on a fresh install with default settings, I'm sure
others may experience this.
I'd be grateful for any help on this.

If winetricks is used beforehand to install wsh56 but NO native dll overrides

I cannot provide a download link. I have installed Paradox from the Word

I attach, separately, wine logs of an installation without wsh56 and one with

in Wine 1.1.0. The associated err:menubuilder: messages are gone from the

also correct though sometimes only after loggin out and back in again.

to play too and don't fear dependency problems do this:
cd
apt-get remove wine
wget
http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/archive/ubuntu/dapper/wine_0.9.17~winehq0~u…
sudo dpkg -i --force-depends wine_0.9.17~winehq0~ubuntu~6.06-1_i386.deb
Cheers

Possibly the same bug in CSS Tab Designer
I downloaded CSS Tab Designer to test because of an older bug report. It works
now, but all the icons have a black borders like the game pieces in the other
screenshots here.
The screenshot was taken in Wine 1.1.0. Is this the same bug?

I gave it a try on 1.1.0 today. Still freezes after a few minutes. It seems to
happen to me when a sound is played, because the last played sound repeats
itself for 2 or three times, after that the game freezes.
Like: Everything is OK -> Sound: "My Blade- Blade- Blade-" -> Freeze

Yes, this is the same bug. There's a rather hacky hack that gets Worms
Armageddon working well enough to play (but the Team Editor and other advanced
settings crash). This hack can also be applied to Diablo 1, but it doesn't seem
to perform as well there.
So in short, yes, Worms Armageddon and Diablo are both affected by this same
bug :)

I copied the ddraw.dll file to the Diablo directory, and my screen is still
black. I can't even see at least text, so that I can get in the game properly.
Is there an alternate solution to get this working?

Any program going fullscreen in Wine resizes any windows on the desktop that
are larger than the new resolution. When you exit wine/fullscreen, the
previously larger windows have been maximized, and restoring them does not
restore their original size (they're smaller).
I'm using KDE 3.5.9, but I don't have this problem with any native programs
(anything using SDL, etc), so I don't think it's just a KDE issue.
Still present in 1.0-rc5, but the version box only goes to 1.0-rc4.

Since the Wine project is about having Windows application working under linux,
Wine bugs obviously do matter while the status of aMule does not.
I suggest you read my previous comment again without making personal
assumptions about what is better for the end-user. Native is not necessarily
better.

Ah, sorry. Here, I've uploaded a .rar containing my current game files.
http://amaroq.org/MONSTER.rar
I've also had a few insights that have lead me to believe that this is a video
issue, not a sound issue.
For one, my box had the same problem on my windows partition as it did on wine.
The splash screen stayed.
I have a more powerful computer now, and this game does work for me now on
windows. I haven't tried it under wine yet, and in fact, I'm still working on
getting dri on my gentoo installation, so I probably won't be able to try.
I have a screen capture program called hypercam, and it is able to disable
acceleration before it begins recording, and re-enable it after recording is
finished. I tested this once, and the results were interesting.
While in game, I began recording. The game reverted to its splash screen when
acceleration was disabled. When acceleration was enabled again, the splash
screen went away and I was back in the game exactly where I left off.
Here is a google-translated list of requirements for the game to run. These are
probably for the full version of the game. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the
one I have is the trial.

Well good news is that amule 2.2.1 is out as of June 11 which fixes a ton of
bugs and implements the kad features and protocol obfuscation in emule. Even
less reason to worry about this bug.

Working & Non working "Last Chaos" logs under wine 0.9.55 and 1.0
I believe I am doing this bug report right. I contacted Scott Ritchie and he
advised me to do this so I am. The game "Last Chaos" as listed in the
appdb.wineqh.org database only works for wine version 0.9.55 for me. I have
Kubuntu Gutsy 7.10 and it works for me. But all the later versions of wine does
not work with it. I have attached a txt document of the game running in
terminal under 0.9.55 working, and 1.0 where it crashed. The purpose of this
bug report is to fix it so the game will load on later wine versions. I have no
problem using this wine version but I would rather it work on newer wine
versions. I am trying to get my friend to get it to work and he is unable to
get it work. He is using OS Debian Lenny and he cannot get it working at all.
The game works pretty flawless, other then the game lags after it has been open
for a few hours but I think that has to do with me needing more ram.
The problem that occurs is that when the game loads in the virtual desktop,
which it has to load in to work from my study, at a resolution of 1024 x 700.
There are a few other settings that need to be changed in order for the game to
work that I can supply if needed. But in order for me to get this game to work
it loads in the virtual desktop. After it updates if updates need to be
applied, I click start and the game screen disappears for a few seconds, during
that time I have to click around in the virtual desktop then after a few
seconds the game screen appears. If I do not click around on the virtual
desktop after I click start game most of the time it will not load. It seems
very odd to me also but it works and I love this game so much, so I do what I
have to do.
On other wine versions this does not work. The game screen loads in the virtual
desktop as I described and when I click start, the game screen disappears for a
few seconds, during that time I click around on the virtual desktop but this
time the game screen flashes on the virtual desktop after 4 seconds of clicking
around, then wine crashes. I was messing around with many different settings on
version 1.0 trying to make it work but after an hour I gave up. I was unable to
get it to work on this latest version.
So I am hoping all the details that I have described above and the text
document I have attached helps the coders and developers tremendously, and hope
they are able to fix these problems so me and my friend are able to play with
awesome game.
Thanks and hope to be hearing from someone.

After closing an application which has a port bound to it (definetely TCP and
possibly UDP), it takes about a minute or two for this port to be released.
I have noticed this behaviour when restarting two programs (uTorrent and DC++).
If restarted immediately after closing them, uTorrent gets the
Red-Unconnectible icon in the bottom tray. DC++ reports that the port is in
use and another should be assigned.
If closed and left for a few minutes it works as expected.
Sorry if this has been reported before, i did search, but failed at finding
this issue mentioned before.

Until someone approaches the problem with some creative thinking, it won't be
fixed any time soon, I recommend reading the comments by Anastasius Focht who
explained why eMule is so resource-hungry under Linux.
Regarding eMule viability: anyone that uses ED2K on a regular basis knows
native clients suck so bad that, besides ditching ED2K entirely, eMule is the
only thing that works at acceptable speeds.
aMule 2.1.3 is a sorry excuse, given its awkward interface (just look at the
search engine screenshots on amule.org!), the prehistoric set of features and
the sheer amount of bugs affecting it.
OTOH version 2.2 has been utter vaporware, perpetually claimed to be on the
verge of being released Real Soon Now(tm), for *over* *two* *years*, that is
until a couple weeks ago. It isn't officially available through my distro yet,
and I have very little faith in the developers, but I will give it a spin as
soon as the new package shows up.

Hello people, I've encountered an issue which I need some help with. I can't
seem to fix it on my own.
My command line:
#!/bin/bash
wine ./srcds.exe -game garrysmod +map gm_spacewar_v2-6 +maxplayers 12 +
rcon_password ****** -port 27015 +sv_defaultgamemode SpaceBuild2 -secure
-console +sv_password ***** +sbox_godmode 0 +sv_lan 0 +hostname "Capsups Build
Server"
I'm running Fedora on it, and as this game doesn't support Linux binaries yet,
I'm running the game in Wine. He has stated at his website that it works in
Wine. This is fully compatible with Steam by the way.
Gcc version:
4.1.2 20070925
Glibc version:
2.7
Kernel version:
2.6.23.1-42.fc8
Wine version:
wine-0.9.37 (Even though I have done yum install wine, yum upgrade and yum
update. Nothing seems to change this.)
Hardware:
RAM: 2GB
Harddrive: 15GB
Processor: 3,2 Ghz. That, or something bigger. I know it's atleast that. But
it's not the hardware that is my problem.
In EVERY-SINGLE map, there's a glitch. Even on the standard map that follows
with Garry's Mod, gm_construct. Somewhere, on the map, if you walk upon
something, that could be the grass, some stones, ANYTHING, it glitches, and
you're stuck there. If you try to move, you simply can't. This happens on every
single map, just different places on each map ofcourse. It's like friction
instantly hits 0.00 on this place, and you're totally stuck. For example: In
the gm_construct map, if you enter White Room, this happens. If anyone knows
gm_Spacewar_V2-6, it happens on all planets but the one, you spawn on. Now, I
tried looking in my output console, on the server, but it is overspammed with
errors. So, I can't manage to read, if anyone of them have anything to do with
the map. But that shouldn't be the problem, since it happens on all maps I try.
I tried doing an clean install, didn't help
Now, my question is: What do I do?
Could it be a missing file, a corrupted file? Or could it my OS?
Any help appreciated.
Capsup
P.S. Don't close this! You have closed my others, so people can't help me, THAT
is why I make this one. And, you told me to write comments in the
non-duplicated one. You have closed all of my bug reports....

Exiting Syberia causes X11 desktop to become black and unresponsive.
While you can still move the mouse/cursors, the screen remains black and at the
resolution of the game, no other actions seem possible.
Trying "wineserver -k" from another login doesn't help, only a full restart of
the X server fixes the problem.
Attached is the wine log useing "warn+all".
Not 100% sure but this line looks like it might be related;
"warn:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_CreateSurface Creating a surface with a POOL of

I remember that ugliness from the days when I still ran native Windows but that
was with Corel WordPerfect Office 12. There is no mention of any similar
problems installing Office 12 here or in the AppBD and this bug report is the
only one that references Protexis so I'm a little puzzled why it is thought
that this is a copy protection issue. Still I'm a newbie.

This bug is linked against "Sherlock Holmes: The Mystery of the Mummy", I've
played this game with Wine 1.0 and didn't notice any slow or laggy mouse
problems.
This is with a Athlon64 3700+ and Geforce 7600 GS.

Summary: Garry's mod map glitches
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P1
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: capsup(a)live.dk
Hello people, I've encountered an issue which I need some help with. I can't
seem to fix it on my own.
My command line:
#!/bin/bash
wine ./srcds.exe -game garrysmod +map gm_spacewar_v2-6 +maxplayers 12 +
rcon_password ****** -port 27015 +sv_defaultgamemode SpaceBuild2 -secure
Capsup
P.S. (YES THIS IS A DUPLICATE! BECAUSE YOU CLOSED MY OTHER ONE???)

Hi,
Wine version 1.0
.NET version 2.0
OS version ubuntu hardy 8.04
.NET application [http://www.tipitaka.org/cst/cst4-2008-04-20-beta15.exe]
crashed during initialization. See attached file.
It looks like the esperanto locale is missing from wine. The app that crashed
will never support esperanto, as far as I know. Wine is the best chance I have
of running the app on ubuntu, and it looks like it might work, except for this
little issue. Hope you have time to look at it.
Thanks,

Sounds previously did not work in Battlezone II, but was fixed by the developer
with the latest beta. Here are his comments about the fix.
"And as to the audio issues, this is WINE not being bug-for-bug compatible with
Windows. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms712181(VS.85).aspx describes
the function that I changed this week. It seems that Windows safely ignores
MMIO_ALLOCBUF when passed a memory buffer. WINE blew chunks. You can consider
this a bug report that should be filed with the WINE devs."

Ricochet Infinity has a freely-downloadable demo version. An "Activation Code"
can be purchased that converts the demo into a full version. Once the user
enters this code, the game contacts a Reflexive server to verify that the code
is valid.
In wine 1.0-rc3, this process stalls at the "Connecting" message. Version
0.9.40 worked OK.
I will do a regression test sometime in the next few days.

First of all the game looks great although tends to really drop in speed like
already posted.
I ran the game with :
WINEDEBUG=-all wine AssassinsCreed_Dx9.exe > /dev/null 2>&1 &
had to get orig : xinput1_3.dll, and some d3dx9_*.dll
I see three graphic bugs in Assassin's Creed (AC)
1) 3d Objects have "shadows" or dublicates of them selves.
This remembers me of the directx blur bug in "Silkroad" which had the same
look , but was gone at some point (turning blur of in Silk made it look okay
again, but its long ago...cant say for sure)
2) some textures are just missing, holes in the ground , i try to attach a pic
3) Right after finishing the tutorial and the game saves the first time, wine
has sever problems with the layer of textures? The floor, bottom texture is
at a wrong height and people fly in the air, when ascending the mountain,
the floor texture is too high and at the height of everyones head , letting
people walk through the ground.
I hope this is not graphics driver related , because i remember having much
less bugs , for instance, when i switched from ATI to nvidia in several games.
Here is my specs:
Archlinux rolling release, X86
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 4400 @ 2.00GHz ( sometimes at 3.4 G)
2048 MB RAM
NVIDIA 8800 GTS with NVIDIA 171.06.01 drivers

Black rectangles during the gameplay
In the newest Wine version (0.9.59) the game runs almost properly. Almost,
because although the game starts properly, a thousands of black rectangles all
over the screen can be seen during the match. I don't know whether it's
"connected" with the fix made for bug 9459, but when I've applied the patch
from topic about bug 9459 in Wine 0.9.58 everything was looking ok.
The game runs on the lowest detail level because it runs smooth then. On higher
detail levels problem with black rectangles still exists.

Platform: PC-x86-64

ReportedBy: lists(a)user-land.org
After the update to Wine 0.9.56-14.1 on OpenSuse 10.3 32bit
eMule always crashes when i right-click on a file in the transfers list.
The eMule interface is in large parts built on right-click action.
eMule is by far the best way to share on the Kademlia/ed2k networks,
even through your emulation layer,
better then native Linux applications which are lagging years behind.
So thanks for your great app, winehq :-)

The important bit of WINEDEBUG=+wintab32
Running Photoshop CS2, my Acecad tablet works only as a mouse, ie. it has no
pressure sensitivity. I've tried different xorg configurations with no change.
Pressure sensitivity works in Krita, but not in Gimp -- probably a
misconfiguration.
