Austin, please don't set the milestone arbitrarily, it won't make the things
magically fixed.
This functionality should be implemented in winecfg, probably as a part
of the bug 5382.

1252 I'd assume, but that's an indication of an improperly configured locale.

Yes, it is. It took me a minute of beating the crap out of my mouse ;), but I
could reproduce it with latest git.
(the method I described earlier; repeatedly click a card in spider as fast as
you can)
First, this happened: (see my last comment)
fixme:alsa:ALSA_AddRingMessage two fast messages in the queue [...] wait timed
out in thread 01f9, blocked by 0009, retrying (60 sec)
After trying again (just took about 5 seconds) I got the division by zero
several times.

I've tested also the PES6 demo and it has the same issues (as stated on appdb),
so maybe devs could try this game using the free version available in many
places (like this one [1]).
I can use that only at 640x480 without sound. Higher details could be used only
using the fbo OffscreenRenderingMode.

I've just stumbled upon this bug report after trying the Ad supported version
of Midway PsiOps (2.5GB download)
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=7577 which
halts during install because setupapi.dll.SetupPromptForDiskA is missing.
As this was reported with this bug, I don't think it should be closed if the
functions are still unimplemented.

More then 1 year ago is recently? Also don't forget that drivers are changing.
And there were lots of code in d3d/opengl/gdi put under the x11drv lock. That
indeed was recent change.
Of course you can always run regression testing to identify the patch. However
I'm not sure how close you will get. All depends on the game and what parts of
the Wine it's using.

Hello,

of course not.
As I already stated in comment #2 - the developer repackaged the game with a
version of Themida which is more wine-friendly .
So the origin of crash has been fixed for some time now.
If you encounter any other problems, open a new bug.

Summary: Grand Robert v1 vertical slidebar problem
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.52.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: momo33(a)operamail.com
There is a bug with Grand Robert v1.4 (French dictionary)
The program runs fine, except for one detail. When a word is selected
a window pop up with the meaning of that word. If that window is too
small for the text, the vertical slide bar fails to appear. When resizing

I noticed a regression in version 0.9.49 of wine.
In the past releases Flatout 2 worked very well under wine, but now is
unplayable:
cars doesn't have bodies, and in game is all too crap.
With 0.9.48 i haven't any problem :)

Retried with new client version and wine "1.0"rc4. Behavior is identical,
except I get different filenames:
-rw-r--r-- 1 user user 0 Jun 12 19:47 Mankind.1.254.256.npr
-rw-r--r-- 1 user user 16 Jun 12 19:08 Mankind.dpf

-rw-r--r-- 1 user user 20 Oct 14 2005 Mankind.npp
-rw-r--r-- 1 user user 255 Oct 16 2005 mankind.cfg
Mankind.1.254.256.npr and Mankind.dpf seem to be created during the update
process.
Whats new here is the filename extension 1.254.256.npr. It used to be
1.231.238.npr. Mankind obviously doesn't download anything, thus the update
fails.
So let reopen this bug...

The behavior is identical: See http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5388#c3

code responsible for downloading and installing updates did not change too
much.

The original bug was to support Windows ASIO drivers under WINE. I don't know
whether that's ever been addressed.
However, the alternative is to provide generic ASIO support under Linux and
that is what the wineasio project supplies. By using JACK and wineasio, any
jack supported back end becomes a support ASIO device under WINE.

peachy. Marking WFM as I can't reproduce it.

Summary: Civilization 4 crashes during long gameplay, the CPU
simply stops.
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.44.
Platform: PC
URL: http://rapidshare.com/files/87380338/bugs.tar.gz.html
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: svippy(a)gmail.com
After playing Civilization 4 (no expansion packs, newest patch version) for a
long time, the game becomes a lot slower, but also freezes at random times.
These freezes result in game stopping entirely, and the CPU load vanishes
(during gameplay CPU is at 100%).
The log is long - I admit. But I was suggested to add +d3d to the WINEDEBUG
environment. The information just prior to the crash can be found at the end.
I have removed redundant lines and replaced them with the amount of times they
appear minus one.
My apologies if similar issues have been spoken of before.
P.S. I use this older version of WINE because it was suggested it would work
better with Civ4.
P.S.S. The URL is the link to the tarball of the log.

xrandr -s 800x600
cd /home/dave/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Diablo\ II && set_rlimits wine

xrandr -s 1024x768
*********************************************************
which pretty much runs ok except for the cutscenes (which are displayed halfway
down the screen cut off at the midsection with the top half of the screen
black). Now if i uncomment the xrandr sections of the shell script i get the
same thing with the game screens as well. Yes, i have set my x-windows
configuration file properly with the right modes and still no luck.
Anyway, i have attached my x-windows log while running my shell script with the
xrandr sections uncommented to prove what i am saying. Also i have compiled in
support for the xrandr libraries as well in order to help with this problem
(which did not help). From what i can see wine does try to change the screen
mode, and fails at it. the wine version i am running is wine-0.9.55

I was able to play "World In Conflict" using 0.9.51.
But when upgraded to 0.9.52, the game exits after pressing the cancel button.
I git bisected the cause and found the commit is "winex11: Activate the
depth-bpp difference.".
I changed my X display settings from 16bit colors to 24bit colors and was able
to play the game again.
I have bought a license of codeweaver even though it could not play WIC but
WINE could. Thanks a lot for the great software.
Note the game will not play properly in VISTA.
Cheers,

It's wrong fix, we couldn't change lfCharSet here.
In this case, after creating fonts with DEFAULT_CHARSET or ANSI_CHARSET,
when drawing text, GdiGetCodePage(hdc) returns incorrect codepage.
for example, on Simplified Chinese env, GdiGetCodePage(hdc) should return
codepage 936 instead of 1251(directly from lfCharSet).
I'll submit a test-case for GdiGetCodePage to demonstrate that.

The buttons weren't on cmd.exe / command.com, they were on the window

So not invalid, but no longer needed, I think.

Summary: Compile fails if wine isn't previously installed
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0-rc4
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: build-env
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: johan.andersson(a)transmode.se
If wine is not previously installed, it seems to be impossible to compile wine.
I have tried with both wine 0.9.57 and 1.0_rc4, both giving the following
error:
../tools/sfnt2fnt: error while loading shared libraries: libwine.so.1
It seems like the LD_LIBRARY_PATH isn't updated to search the local libs/wine/
directory, so the libwine.so.1 needs to exist in the systems lib directory for
the compilation to succeed.

Since Wine's x11drv is single-threaded you see exact affects from this. Until
dinput gets it's data from X11 there is nothing can be done about what you are
seeing.

Yep, even in rc4.
Excel 2003 installs and runs but with VBA disabled, starting with the error :
Error Accessing File. Network connection may be lost.
Installing DCOM98 solves VBA problem, but then another problem arises, solved
with installation of RICHEDIT20 and RICHEDIT30 (not sure both are needed).
GDIPLUS is NOT necessary at all, as are not necessary other dll overrides.
BTW, overriding ole32, oleaut32 and rpc4 with dlls taken from windows XP does
not work at all.... it needs DCOM98.
Installing dotnet and enabling net programming in excel breaks stuffs again,
otherwise it runs perfectly.

I do realize that this is a volunteer run project,
where you can't force anyone to do anything.
That wasn't really my intention anyway.
My point was just this specific bug being a regression,
which I assumed would be treated differently for 1.0 than some random bug.
For example if this were the linux kernel, the person doing the fancy new
rewrite would be expected to fix the resulting regressions, or it would get
reverted if that was not possible and the regression wasn't just a nuisance.
Of course this can't be done 2 years later.
I can't fix the bug either, but I assume that the author of the commit that

Is this a dual core processor? With multicore processors or SMP Thief's Dark
Engine is known to be unstable (even on windows). This affects not only Thief
but related games like System Shock 2 as well. There are workarounds involving
"taskset" for which you can google.

There are -thousands- of bugs in Wine that need to be fixed and to make that
worse, fixing some of those bugs makes -other- bugs.
Friedrich Göpel, if you can fix this bug or know someone who can then go
ahead, submit patches for it, but Wine is worked on by -volunteers- not people
paid to fix it, they generally work on the parts where their skills are best
utilised and what they actually have time to accomplish. There just isn't
anyone here to fix this bug at the moment (or in the past) else it likely would
have already been fixed.

Part of the art of doing a release is to decide which users to piss off. Guess
what? You win this time, sorry. Doesn't mean we don't want to fix the bug, it
just means that the bus is leaving, and this fix didn't make it aboard. Don't
worry, another bus will be along later.

Nice attitude.
It's a regression though, not some random buglet, and a 2 years old one at
that,
if that's not a reason to fix it for a 1.0 release nothing is.
Imo you really, really should fix the regressions, before you do a 1.0 release,
otherwise it's pretty meaningless to do that, except for the additional
publicity maybe, if that's what you're after.

it wont be fixed. It's to fix the small issues and clean things up rather than

was specifically to fix bugs?
Is this bug just not high enough priority, due to only affecting (apparently)

Another user that needs this. I need to run Enterprise Architect from sparx
systems:
http://www.sparxsystems.com/
My company uses the floating corporate keys, which live on a windows file
share. The key database has the path coded into it so it must be accessed from
windows using:
\\servername\directory\keyfile
Any attempt to access from a mounted drive or other location results in the key
store being considered invalid.
I have mounted the directory samba and created an appropriate directory under
unc:
.wine/dosdevices/unc/server/directory/
However this directory is not accessible from the file dialog that opens when
running enterprise architect. There are no "Network Places" available to select
from or anything similar.
Typing the appropriate unc location directly into the file dialog also fails.
To be able to use this I need to have wine able to reference
\\servername\directory as a file location.
I don't need auto mounting of remote network resources, I'm happy to create the
appropriate unc directory and create sym links, but applications need to be
able to see these unc locations.

The IMM error is actually non critical, forcing the latest POL/FFXI client to
Windowed mode will allow you to pass this error. The actual problem is caused
by calls to user32.dll functions SPI_GETFOREGROUNDLOCKTIMEOUT &
SPI_SETFORGROUNDLOCKTIMEOUT
fixme:system:SystemParametersInfoW Unimplemented action: 8192
(SPI_GETFOREGROUNDLOCKTIMEOUT)
fixme:system:SystemParametersInfoW Unimplemented action: 8193
(SPI_SETFOREGROUNDLOCKTIMEOUT)
Examining the WINE sourcecode dlls/user32/sysparams.c we see these are both
FIXME stubs. I suspect a real stubs with a fake return value will likely solve
the issue (regrettably, my C skills range from non-existent to
damn-right-dangerous)
Reading MSDN, A null/zero value shouldn't cause any regressions with other
software, and searching the WINE bugzilla this will clear up more than a
trivial number of reported issues.

Since around rc1 things have been different here. The game starts fine, and

moving parts are 1 hair's-breadth from the lens. Sound, shadows, lens flares
are fine, even the controls are working I think. Weird, huh?

In Debian Etch the latest available version from backports is wine
1.0-rc1-1~bpo40+1. With this version
$ wine install.exe
ie, the execution of install.exe from the 1st diskette of Maple V Release 3
begins, and after pressing OK I get an error message:
"Installation process has been aborted. To install Maple start install program
again."
and pressing OK it closes.
So, I cannot make yet a clean installation under wine.
On the other hand, just for test it, execution of the executable in the Windows
partition installation
$wine WMAPLE53.EXE
still produces "division by zero" errors. I could post them if relevant.

The appdb gives a recipe, and says native comdlg32 works around the problem:
"The "Import Multiple ASCII" dialog is not working for me. Selecting a file and
pressing "Add File" just closes the dialog box. To work around this you need
to override comdlg32.dll."
