<snipped>
I don't think I understand that part of the code, although I have tried in the
past. I think the window handle patch (or a corrected patch for it, if I made a
mistake) is a must, because the parent must keep track of daughter windows and
releases resources correctly - the unpatched git code is just wrong (and as it
says, it has two FIXME's); secondly, the resources management must deal with
multiple help windows correctly (or just let it leak, rather than crash; and
wait for a proper fix for the leak later).
I haven't had a crash lately, since the local windows handle patch, but maybe I
am just not trying hard enough :-).

Yes this is still an issue (as of Wine 0.9.59).
The table windows still don't resize correctly with PokerStars. However, the
lobby windows have been able to resize for quite some time now.
Currently the only way to get the table windows to resize like they should is
to un-check 'allow the window manager to control the windows' in the Graphics
tab of winecfg.

Maybe this is a bug in X Window System (or perhaps video driver)? I have a
GeForce 7300LE and so I use nvidia-settings to adjust the resolution (color
depth, etc) and sometimes it signals an error saying that it could not change
resolution (and asks if I want to change to "metamode" whatever that means,
because I see no difference). The only workaround I found is to re-login. I
noticed suspect that this error coincides with the times that any game start in
a window, because I saw no case in witch one of the errors ocurred during a
session and the other didn't.

Can you try starting the game with:
wine Porsche.exe driver=dx7z
Try using Windows 98 through XP modes. I don't think the game was designed to
run on 3.1. The unofficial patch (Enhanced Version) makes it work with
2000/xXP.

I disagree. The main reason I have also pasted this error message was, that
first of all I don't get anything else, but software mode only. I don't have a
chance to even select Direct 3D, where for Need For Speed III the Direct 3D
setting works fine.
Second is, that I am partly sure, that this error is beeing maybe related to
the SafeDisk protection, and thats why the game fails at the start, but I can
be also wrong.

As of Wine 0.9.95 with the Rayman 2 demo, the following line is outputted to
the console:
fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x33f6e0,0x00000000), stub!
(No backtrace. Yay! Then again, this is a pre-release demo, not the full
version of the game. I'll be able to test that shortly.)
In addition, a dialog box appears with the title "FatalError" and the message
"No available resolution". Clicking OK brings up an additional dialog box with
the title "Setup problem" which states "Graphics mode not found, run install".

Wine has introduced a builtin Tahoma replacement in order to fix a lot of
problems caused by the fact that Tahoma glyph widths are not compatible with
other replacement fonts. So, it's not a solution at all to hide one bug by
going backwards, and make lots of old bugs re-surface in exchange.

If the problem is caused by missing glyphs, the wine should start using
fontconfig or equivalent for matching font and use replace font file
automatically. It's not just the CJK glyphs might be missed. There are many
other non-latin charsets might be missed from any system fonts.
Currentlly, it seems wine use font substitutes register to alleviate the
problem, but it does not work very well and not transparent to the users.

Summary: ALT-Click not working in World of Warcraft since Wine
0.9.59
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: alanceil(a)gmx.net
Since I can't choose the version "0.9.59", I chose unspecified.
With the new Wine version, Alt-Click actions no longer get through to WoW (and
possibly other programs, too; but I haven't tested this yet). This also is true
for longer combinations like Ctrl-Shift-Alt-Click, which is needed for the
batch auction posting in the Auctioneer Addon.
It seems that it's just the Alt Key that isn't recognized; Ctrl-Click
combinations work, as well as "normal" Key Combinations like Alt+N.
Going back to 0.9.58 fixes this problem.
Greetings,
- Tom

But this application and help is in French, not in Polish.. :) so I don't do
anything more either.
I think that crash which I'm talking about is because of wrong memory release
order in ReleaseWebBrowser (dlls/hhctrl.ocx/webbrowser.c). It should be:
1. info->web_browser
2. info->wb_object
3. info->client_site
But first I need to know if crash (and solution) occurs not only in my
environment?
So... do you confirm that crash?

I meant the whole application, but since I am not a pole, I can't do much with
the application so it is basically just start it, play with F1 and navigate
around a bit then get out; so the exit time might just be as you say, after a

Denied by CUPS, but Michael Sweet suggest a different way to get the
Printer-List.

Might be a usable Way, but it's to late for Wine-1.0

On exit you mean after closing help window or whole application?
Could you check if it crashes after this steps:
1. Open app
2. Press F1
3. Browse couple of pages
4. Close help
5. repeat steps 2-4 about 5 times.
It should crash (sooner or later) after closing help window.

Doesn't crash for me in current git, but there's also massive graphics washout,
so I'm not sure if it crashes later or not. Are you seeing these graphics bugs
as well? Have you filed a bug for them? Is this bug still present?

I found out something I think is very interesting:
When you play the game Mafia with native dinput8.dll, it shows this bug.
However, with wine's own dinput8 it works perfectly.
Maybe thats another case where wine does mouse warping when it should not.
Or its something completely different, like windoze does mouse warping in this
case, too, in another place/dll, but I think Vitaliy said dinput does not warp
mouse at all.

return window handle on success
This patch returns the help windows handle to the caller, so that the caller
knows the help windows has been successfully created. This deals with the issue
I mentioned earlier about gpstrack checking and poping up a message and demands
the user to acknowledge (which can sometimes be behind the main application
window), when it doesn't get a success message.
I attached this same patch to bug 12156 as well, and send to wine-patches.

Maybe we should open a different bug here? The log you posted is the crash in
software mode where the current bug was initially created for the d3d mode.
Actually the same crash which Tomasz reported is still there in current git.
Also if you really look into the log in bug 6606 and the ones here you will
find out that these are suffering from the same problem.

I just want to say this is related to my bug 12547. It's still a problem in
0.9.59. Copying LSANS.TTF to LSANS.fot DOES NOT WORK. It doesn't work if you
stick either file in the windows/font directory either. Anyone have any other
ideas and is there any status on this issue? Is there a plan to implement
CreateScalableFontResourceA?

The trial installer gets further now, but still crashes.
With today's wine from git, I did
rm -rf .wine

wine 3dsmax9Trial.exe
cd .wine/drive_c/3dsmax9Trial/
wine Setup.exe
After about five minutes, it got to the dialog that asks

Nothing has changed since I last reported the issue. Here's another session,
where /var/ftp is mounted via Samba (perhaps this is important?) on /mnt/tmp on
the same machine:
[2|root@zap|/var/ftp]grep `stat -c "%i" test.txt` /proc/locks
1: LEASE ACTIVE WRITE 4336 08:21:10447 0 EOF
[2|root@zap|/var/ftp]wine cmd
CMD Version 0.9.58
Z:\mnt\1\ftp>type test.txt
Sharing violation
Failed to open 'test.txt'
Z:\mnt\1\ftp>type test.txt
Hello world!
Z:\mnt\1\ftp>^D
[2|root@zap|/var/ftp]grep `stat -c "%i" test.txt` /proc/locks
[2|root@zap|/var/ftp]
In another window I just did 'tail -f /mnt/tmp/test.txt', where /mnt/tmp is
mounted from /var/ftp.
I don't know how Vitaly have set the oplock on the file in hist example above,
but I never have seen an FLOCK/MSNFS lock with Samba. I always get just one
LEASE/ACTIVE lock. Perhaps this makes a difference.
I currently use wine-0.9.58 and samba-3.0.28a on Fedora 8.

Hi,
the idea sound a little crazy but could be some nice enhancement to wines
usability. I run an dual screen system and when any programm get into
fullscreen
there are two ways system handle these, first way is to turn of the second
screen and only display at one or ignore that there are two screens and draw
into the center of virtual screen so a fat beam (the monitor borders) split the
app output in two parts.
I like to run windows apps in the same space as my nativ apps and so I dislike
the
virtual desktop, but when launching games or other apps that like to fullscreen
then usally one of my screens turn off and I can't look at my other apps while
gaming, some of games allow window mode, but not all of them, so my enhancement
idea is to allow wine redirect fullscreen apps into an window like the virtual
desktop do, the window should be the size of the resolution the app likes to
set.
This shouldn't be the default behavior, but could activated in winecfg graphics
section.
regards Daniel

The movement of the mouse while playing WoW in OpenGL mode can become choppy

is a slightly selection intensive game).
If I alt-tab out while playing, mouse motion is fluid and perfect otherwise on
my X server. Thus it appears to be a problem in WINE.
Clicking also seems to intermittently "just not work".

It does, however, seem to fail at the very end for me, right at the end;
perhaps it has successfully installed, who knows. But that's a different

Okay, so version 1.0 and 1.3 both fail to get the refresh rate so it still
fails in the same way. But if you get the user patch that 3D Realms provides,
it will get in game, but the screen won't update and nothing seems to make the
plunger key work. If you hit the padel keys though, it makes noise of them
moving. Also noticed, the default padel keys are Shift_L and Shift_R, but
Shift_R isn't defined so it shows up blank in the settings.

Summary: Diablo 2 - Window Management Issues

While playing Diablo 2 when you want to pick multiple items from floor you have
to press ALT and they are displayed in a list on your screen and by selecting
one item from that list you pick it.
I was playing Diablo 2 with Wine version Wine 0.9.58 and it worked perfectly
but after switching to Wine 0.9.59 this problem occurred. I assume it has to be
related by changes in Wine 0.9.59 regarding window management.
System: Ubuntu 7.10 x64, wine from winehq (unmodified), Nvidia Driver.

No, regardless of the accented issue, the main body of htmlhelpW() is doing
something wrong, htmlHelpW() at the moment does not return a handle to the
parent application. Some parent application actually uses the handle.

This popup is occasionally behind the main application and gives the impression
that the main application is not responding.
As explained earlier - some applications actually checks the result
of whether launching htmlhelp is successful or not - in this case,
the check is more annoying than the problem, because the check requires
the user to acknowledge it before the application can be used again.

I just tested the application with wine-0.9.58-1.fc8 and I didn't find any
issues outside some DLL registration which could be the need to re-install.
Thank you.

It looks like your card has GL_EXT_paletted_texture. Geforce 6 and later
doesn't have it, and wine uses different codepaths, so it can explain why many
people are not seeing any problems.
You can try to verify it by opening dlls/wined3d/directx.c, finding the line
beginning with '{"GL_EXT_paletted_texture",' and commenting it out ('//' at the
beginning or ctrl-D if you use kwrite editor), then compiling. If it starts
working then indeed GL_EXT_paletted_texture support is broken in some
situations (although the simple test seems to work).

Some text boxes do appear to have changed: They're now all-white instead of
all-black. Other boxes, like the menu names, are still all-black.
