Summary: shift+click, mouse wheel not working
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.54.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: blocker
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: petrescs(a)yahoo.com
CC: petrescs(a)yahoo.com
Hello, I am new to this forum - have searched both ubuntuforums and winehq
forums but haven't found too much related with my problem. Not quite sure this
is wine related or xorg.conf related, please advise.
The issue is appearing for any recent versions of wine from 0.9.45 to 0.9.54
(all tested), on ubuntu 6.06, 7.04 and 7.10. My MS Windows app is developed in
Borland Delphi and (except the two noted below) works 100% under wine.
First problem noticed so far is related to clicking an icon - this should
behave differently when clicked or Shift-clicked (using left mouse button). In
Ubuntu+Wine, Shift-clicking is always ignored (produces same result like when
the icon is simply clicked) as opposed to mS Windows where it works as
expected, displaying different reports when clicked vs. shift-clicked.
Please note that Shift key works fine *by itself* in same app under wine (that
is, switches between lowercase and uppercase when writing in a text box) and of
course in native Ubuntu screens. It seems is only ignored when combined with a
mouse click in my application when run in wine.
Second problem noticed is not being able to scroll with mouse wheel in same app
run in wine. The mouse is fully recognized in Ubuntu (scroll wheel works fine
"outside" wine in native Ubuntu apps). Except wine, there is no other changes
in default install of Ubuntu so I cannot blame certain custom settings.
First have tried with various Ubuntu versions installed from scratch and
default wine configuration, then adjusted winecfg to simulate Win95, Win98,
Win2000 and Win2003 - no results. Also tried to check/uncheck "Allow window
manager to control windows" - no results.
As far as I found in forums so far, there were mainly two fixes suggested (for
gamers not having access to Shift/Ctrl/Alt + click): some were suggesting
changing Movement Key in System/Preferences/Window from Alt to Super, while
others suggested changing Window Settings in winecfg (Allow/Disallow the window
manager to control the windows). Nothing works in my case.
Any help or pointers to other similar issues is appreciated. Thank you.

Resizing winecfg to fit into a 640x480 screen is a large undertaking, and
involves redesigning all winecfg dialogs in all languages.

The problem should be somewhere else (for instance because of missing CJK
glyphs in builtin Tahoma, as the first comment in this bug says), font
loading works just fine.

WineEngCreateFontInstance has been implemented long time before 0.9.46,
so the above claims are not true.

I never really had this kind of problem. But I doubt that's a Deus Ex problem,
but more a problem of the renderer which you choose.
The OpenGL renderer to which I linked in comment #3 however does not have any
problems with fullscreen. I don't know about the Direct3D renderers, as GL
works great for more (and has fewer overhead than D3D).

lfCharSet part of the hack is a workaround of improperly set Linux locale,
the obvious solution is to set Linux locale to Chinese.
The height related part is weird, there is no explanation why it's needed.

Created an attachment (id=12162)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=12162)
a hack for codepage cp936
I saw a patch floating around to fix the problem for Chinese users. It
hardwired the cp396 (Simplified Chinese) codepage to
WineEngCreateFontInstance();.
It also has some font size manipulation which are irrelevant.
What the problem seems to be that the font had its charset set to
DEFAULT_CHARSET or ANSI_CHARSET, as a result, no proper charset translation can
be established.
http://source.winehq.org/source/dlls/gdi32/freetype.c#L3170
I believe what should be done is:
if( lf.lfCharSet == DEFAULT_CHARSET || lf.lfCharSet == ANSI_CHARSET) {
lf.lfCharSet = get_default_charset();
}
or it could be solved in some higher level where the hfont was first created.

Aha. Running with native cabinet shows a new line right
after the big run of reads:
fixme:setupapi:sc_FNNOTIFY_A Unknown notification type 5.
This was referred to also in
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3701#c8
So perhaps our cabinet isn't generating the proper FDICopy callback,
and our setupapi isn't handling it?
Setting category to setupapi.

Trial still failing in same way with today's git.
Here's a log of the failing custom action.
(This was produced by
running the inner installer with the command indicated
by the log from the outer installer:
WINEDEBUG=+msi,+text,+crypt,+process,+module,+file wine msiexec /I
D:\\PROTRI.MSI SKIPOSPCHECK=1 METRICSSOURCE=D: LAUNCHEDFROMSETUP=1

DWSETUPLOGFILE=c:\\v.txt "DWMSILOGFILE=c:\\v_Task(0001).txt"
but just running the outer installer would have been fine.)
(Annoyingly, +relay seems to hang the installer, so I didn't use that.)

Part of this still applies. I've adjusted the summary to the current status:
1. Any affinity is allowed, so this portion of the original report is fixed.
2. On Linux, it should be possible to set the affinity of a process/thread
using sched_setaffinity.

Requesting removal of bug from Wine 1.0 list. Will not be fixed by then as
this needs much more work than this simple patch to implement all of the
features in riched20. Solution for now is to use native riched20.dll and
riched32.dll from WindowsXP which can be obtained through the winetricks script
created by Dan Kegel.

Here is a story: I can hardly tell you wich symbol is being printed, while it
is being displayed like * and M, when I open temporary font file in FontForge,
I find them at position of small english letters g (0x0067) and h (0x0068)
correspondingly. I suppose these should be somewhere in sing area...
You may use reference images for text data, as I've opened the same page.
Temporary font name was MPS92bd.tmp.

I can hardly think of such application, but I can make any tests you wish.
Also, as a matter of fact that might help: this application stores it's fonts
in single *.MCF file and extracts them as they are needed.

Apart from entity decoding which can be done by reusing Robert's patch, we
should also use "precent encoding" in UrlEscape (dlls/shlwapi/url.c)
http://www.w3.org/International/O-URL-code.html
There is flag URL_ESCAPE_PERCENT in this function but i don't think it does
what it should do. Moreover, native UrlEscape might have the same problem?
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1954721&SiteID=1
I've tried to trace where in native dlls correct escaping occurs but I couldn't
find it. I know that with native hhctrl.ocx there is the same problem with
accented urls... so percent escaping has to be done later.
Could you check how UrlEscape with URL_ESCAPE_PERCENT behaves in Windows? (I
don't have Windows system with C compiler so I couldn't do it by myself :/)
I've rewrite example in Java (from W3 page) to C... could you check if it does
proper url escaping (it works for me)? I think it can be used to put somewhere
in wine code, but we have to figure out first where we should do it :)

Russell, do not reply to wine-bugs. Please post in Bugzilla. Email read:
"For the version of Wine that I originally reported this bug on (probably
two years ago) it was consistent and repeatable on all Win32 console
mode applications that I tried, including cmd.exe from Windows XP. I
haven't really used Wine for some time, and have not installed newer
versions, so I have no idea if the bug is still a problem in newer versions."

With wine 0.9.58 (but not 0.9.59, bug 12416) and an ATI Radeon X1650 with
current fglrx driver (xorg-driver-fglrx version 1:7.1.0-8-3+2.6.24.12-16.34) I
can report that both the reflections and city backdrop appear perfectly. (To
be precise, I'm actually testing in a build half way between .58 & .59, but I'm
pretty sure .58 was ok too.)
This is with a routine install in a fresh WINEPREFIX. The only modification is
to set WINEDEBUG=-all to suppress slowdown from repeated "fog" messages.
Would it be possible, *please*, for people to start marking some of these bugs
as CONFIRMED?!

Summary: Wine graphics replaced by snow after upgrade to Hardy
Heron
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: michael(a)araneidae.co.uk
After upgrading from Ubuntu 7.10 to the current version 8 beta a game which
previously worked perfectly (Project Eden) now just displays a screen full of
snow.
This is with wine version 0.9.59 with an ATI Radeon X1650 graphics card and the
fglrx driver (xorg-driver-fglrx version 1:7.1.0-8-3+2.6.24.12-16.34).
This appears to be a regression, as the game previously worked perfectly.

Thanks for getting to the bug.
BadAlloc in X_CreatePixmap - I assume this would be some sort of translation
from one of the WIndows CreateBitmapXXX functions. It hasn't ever crashed in
Windows in the bitmap functions... but that could be because (a) Wine causes a
different/untested codepath in my code to be run that isn't run normally for
windows, (b) the phase of the moon is always right on Windows and it doesn't
happen to crash (perhaps through some extra buffer added onto memory), or (c)
there's a problem with Wine.
1) Who does this bug get forwarded to if (as I assume) it's crashing in the
create bitmap code.
2) Is there anything I can do from my end?

Summary: Model textures corruption in GTA San Andreas
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.44.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: trivial
Priority: P3
Component: wine-directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jr98(a)gmx.net
I explained this in Bug 5723 before, but that Bug was mainly another problem
that is now fixed. Summary:
Sometimes, the texture of a random model is not drawn properly when you have
both pixel- and vertexshaders enabled. It seems to affect one model at a time,
mostly. When there are more persons with the same model, it affects them, too,
textures of other models are ok. It happens in cutscenes as well as in normal
game. If you disable one or both shaders, all textures are rendered correctly.
Still present in 0.9.44, with both ARB and GLSL.

Nope, that doesn't help.
The fullscreen bar doesn't get redrawn, either; I had another window in front
of it before, but could guess the position of the minimize and maximize
buttons, that works but doesn't help the redrawing issue. It also paints some
garbage over my top gnome panel, some parts of it look like the frame of
unmanaged windows would look like (if I had wine-windows set to unmanaged).

'git show HEAD' shows current revision
'git fetch && git reset --hard origin' makes your cloned directory current.
I'm not sure what the problem you are experiencing is, as it seems many people
get this game working now. It could be a driver problem (I personally have
100.14.11-4 and I heard some negative mentions of 169.... ones that's why I'm
reluctant to update). But a more worrying possibility is that fx5200 could have
some specific features that force wine to use a codepath that doesn't get used
on my machine (and others for whom it works), but breaks things for you.
One thing you can try is 'cd wine-src/dlls/d3d8/tests/' and 'make test' there
(assuming wine-src/ is where you cloned the git tree to). I've written a little
conformance test for P8 textures some time ago, and it would be interesting to
see if it works. See if you get any failures from 'make test'.
Also you can try checking out some other games that use P8 texture format, so
as to see if it's broken in general or something GTA-specific. For an example,
see this bug: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10973; Commandos 3 uses P8
textures too and there's a link to demo in that bug entry that you can download
(it's not small, but not huge either).
Also you can run 'glxinfo' and attach output here.

As of 0.9.59 the two window problem is still present. The "chat" window cannot
be anchored in the main window.
However, and I don't know if this has something to do with the fact of being
using fluxbox as window manager instead of other desktop environment such as
kde or gnome, but in 0.9.59 the windows aren't displayed in the toolbar. This
means that if the window is minimized I have no way to restore it or close it
cleanly.
When the application starts, it takes a while to display the "chat" window. As
soon as it does an icon shows up in the toolbar with the name "fmChat" but
disappears in a flash.
Apart from this window management problem, the programs seems to be working as
fine as before.
This toolbar problem doesn't happen in wine 0.9.55 and the two elements appear
in the toolbar. The main window called "Apprentice" and the chat window called
"fmChat".
Thanks
