Hey,
I tried to start CS:S , but I only see the screen with the 2 police man and
then the game crashes.
I tried every think to make it work, but nothing helped.
I don't know if the bug is a bug of the new fglrx (AMD) driver, or a bug "from"
wine.
My System: Ubuntu 7.10
ATI Radeon X1600 Sapphire
fglrx 8.42.3
Output of temrinal will be added when I'm back at home ;)

Draw result under wine
Navigation (see AppDB) has the capability to draw some vector data : roads,
railways, rivers.
Using wine, those vectors have strange shapes, what makes the application
unusable (vectors are an important part of the software).
Take a look at the attachment to see the draw result in wine

GetAdaptersInfo is failing to return the MAC address of eth0, which breaks
the licence checking on a piece of software I'm using. A bit of debugging shows
that getInterfacePhysicalByIndex is being called with 'len' set to zero, while
the code in getInterfacePhysicalByName expects len to be initialised to the
available buffer space for holding the address.
The change that caused it seems to have been the one in this commit:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-cvs/2007-October/037001.html
which among other things removed the initialisation of the length passed in.
Certainly the trivial change

Summary: Wine running half life 2 becomes unstable on certain

Product: Wine

Created an attachment (id=8182)

Output from half life 2 showing the game grashing after the 3rd red lighting
effect.
Wine reacts badly to lighting effects in half life 2 at certain points
throughout the game creating points that you can't progress past.
The first is towards the end of the section called 'sandtraps' when you first
enter the bunker behind the gun placements. There are red flares lying on the
ground. I could progress past this point by turning the dxlevel down to 70 and
all the setting s to low.
The second is in 'encapments' where the lights go out and the combine forces
storm in and fire red flares for lighting. This can also be avoided by running
dxlevel 70.
The third is shortly after the second where the girl in the game activates a
view screen and sees the woman doctor in the combine portal room, an alarm goes
off behind her and there is a flashing red light effect. This will still crash
if the dxlevel is 70. I have managed to get past it by triggering the sequence
then running backwards through the level to a safe distance and waiting a few
minutes before it's over.
The forth is straight after when you enter the portal room and just as it is
activated the same flashing red lighting alarm effect that you could see in the
view screen goes off and the game crashes. I have not been able to get past
this.

Summary: ShellExecute with very long params crashes (affects
Picasa)
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.20.
Platform: Other
URL: http://dl.google.com/picasa/picasaweb-current-setup.exe
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Keywords: download
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-shell32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
With current Windows picasa, some users reported a crash
caused by overflow of a fixed-size buffer in SHELL_execute().
That buffer size is still fixed and small in current git (I think).
To repeat:
1. Launch picasa, select a folder.
2. Login to Picasa 'Web Albums', click on 'Web Album' button in display tray.
3. 'Send n photos to a Picasa Web Album' dialog is opened.
4. Click on 'Upgrade storage...' button. It crashes on some machines.
On those machines, the following err is seen:
err:exec:SHELL_execute Parameters exceeds buffer size (1126 > 1024)
SHELL_execute is 350 lines long (yargh!), which makes a proper fix
a bit of a challenge, but bumping up the size of one of the buffers in
that function does make the problem go away.
On a machine that doesn't crash, the parameter being passed to winebrowser is
900 or so bytes long, which is still perilously close to the 1024 byte limit.
For reference, here's what +relay shows for that call.
0009:Call shell32.ShellExecuteA(00000000,008c5f98 "open",00ca692c
"c:\\windows\\system32\\winebrowser.exe",01e247e4

Since wine 0.9.47 (and also in 0.9.48) the colors in GTA Vice City are
completely messed up. I'll attach a screenshot for demonstration. I did
regression testing and tracked the bug down to this commit:
commit 134aa67ec9fc9f761e6da15a816f770d8a30c455
author Roderick Colenbrander <thunderbird2k(a)gmx.net>
wined3d: Use a fragment shader to do P8 palette conversion in hardware.
Hope this can get fixed soon.

32 and 64 bit, Fedora Core 7, and Gentoo machines. Suffice to say, this is not
due to a specific distribution. The error output right before the segmentation
fault is err:heap:HEAP_ValidateInUseArena Heap 0x110000: in-use arena 0x4b1d440
next block has PREV_FREE flag. A "WINEDEBUG=+ddraw,+heap,+relay,+tid,+seh wine

taken on a 64-bit machine, as a memory leak occurs after it crashes (the memory
used to load game objects is not freed).

Apparently the related API parts have changed in openldap-2.4 and the
ldap_parse_vlv_control and ldap_parse_sort_control functions have been removed
in favor of some slightly different code (i.e. they were not just renamed), so
the wldap32 code needs to be adjusted a bit. As far as I can tell there is no
way to disable using openldap, other than removing the related headers, so it
is impossible to compile wine without manual Makefile/configfile editing.

Theodoros Kalamatianos

I own a copy of American McGee's Alice.
The issue I'm having is that the first scene of the game, the image is split up
into many peices, and if I recall properally, she's in a cave, talking to the
rabbit, along with the cat, I can often see Alice if I move the mouse around,
but it seems as though the image implodes, into dozens of slices of the 3d
graphics.
I'm not sure if I need to update openGL or support directx in some way with
wine.

Summary: Cursor seems not to move in Photoshop CS2 while hovering
over a picture
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.44.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: mikolaj.zalewski(a)gmail.com
When the mouse cursor enters the picture areas the cursor icon is still drawn
where is was before entering the picture, on the border - it looks like it
doesn't move. In reality the cursor moves as when we leave the picture the icon
is being drawn again outside of it in the correct position. Also if when
pressing the mouse button to draw the cursor icon position is correctly
updated.
Seems to affect Photoshop Element 5 as well

Summary: PokerStars: unable to use program links to web pages
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.45.

OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor

ReportedBy: develaine(a)gmail.com
When clicking on any part of the PokerStars UI that would normally bring open a
link to another web page (i.e.: Team PokerStars images in the main window which
should open the bio page of the player on their website), winebrowser is
called, but either cannot interpret the URL or is never given the URL to open.
If I could figure out how to get Wine to show me what's being passed as the URL
if anything, I'd be more specific on the issue, however I'm coming up short
with that while reading the debug documentation. Only tested the pokerstars.com
version of the software, but since this isn't related to the pay tables, I
figure the .net software will have the same issue. Have not tested that,
however.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9611
Summary: application hangs with 2.6.23-rc5 (worked with 2.6.23-
rc3)
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.44.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: blocker
Priority: P2
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: cyril.adrian(a)gmail.com
Distro: Ubuntu 7.04
Linux Kernel: 2.6.23-rc5
Wine version: your latest (0.9.44~winehq0~ubuntu~7.04-1)
Hi,
I just upgraded my kernel from 2.6.23-rc3 to 2.6.23-rc5 (I compile my own
vanilla from kernel.org) and an application I use quite a lot (viz.
NoteWorthyComposer) stopped working.
With -rc3 it started very well; with -rc5 it shows a fixme message (below) and
hangs.
Teh foxme message (don't know if it's related):
fixme:actctx:parse_depend_manifests Could not find dependent assembly
L"Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls"
What can I do to provide more details?
Thanks
Cyril
