That's because GDI in Wine doesn't simulate bold and italic for bitmap fonts.

Hey
I don't think this is a bug in wine your error says
err:x11settings:X11DRV_ChangeDisplaySettingsEx No matching mode found! (XRandR)
The problem i think is that the game is calling for a resolution but the XRandR
program (its a program that changes screen res) cant find the resolution the
game is calling for. What this probably means is that the resolution the game
wants is not found in your xorg.conf file for gentoo 64bit but the right
resolution is in your xorg.conf for your kubuntu 32bit installation.
To fix:
Use whatever text editor you use as root. Open /etc/X11/xorg.conf on your
kubuntu installation.
Find the section called 'screen'
Find the line about metamodes.
Write down these metamodes (or copy)
then go into your gentoo installations /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Paste or add any resolutions which are in you kubuntu xorg.conf but not in your
gentoo one.
All the different resolutions should be seperated by an ; if your using dual
screens then your dual screen resolutions will be setup like this
1024x768,1024x767; (specifies both screens) if your using dual screens you also
need to add single screen resolutions to the end ie 1024x768; it seems games
running through wine in fullscreen mode will not work if you have two screens
which is why you also need to add single screen res's. This will disable any
second screen while you are in game but when you leave it will hopefully
re-enable it doesnt for me though. i have to restart x.
Save
If your on gentoo right now then restart X
If your on kubuntu restart your pc and boot gentoo. Now hopefully the game will
run. I'll try to watch 'bug'.

Still an issue, the part of the calculator where you would see the output is
black.
Someone should mark bug 5329 as a duplicate of this.
I don't know for sure, but bug 6519 might be a duplicate too, it also has an
issue with areas being blacked out.

unregistered dp*.dll.so s, native dp*.dll s in drive_c/.../system32 copied,
registered with wine's regsvr32, later tried with native winxp32 regsvr32,
native/built-in priority and native only tried with winecfg, all registrable
dp* dlls. all checked with regedit. tried windows versions from 98-xp in
winecfg.
my COM knowlegde is little rusty and books are trashed, the above log' s iid's
are not findable with regedit, must they be in the registry?

Yes, actually the plan is to move the whole HAL support to the mount manager.
I'm not convinced it's the problem here though, it seems it should be able to
access the device through the drive letter.

I played with TomTom and a USB stick for a bit and I'm seeing the same
thing; when I plug in the device a WM_DEVICECHANGE message gets
delivered, the installed hook procedure is called in which it checks
the drive type and then enumerates volumes. The new drive is not
among the enumerated volumes however, probably because this part not
implemented yet. I'm guessing that explorer needs to create volumes
through the mount manager?

That's not the goal. I did not close this bug. I simply asked for someone who
was familiar with the bug to test it. Those bugs that were closed where either
reported fixed (and closed as such) or had not received a response when more
information/logs/etc were asked for (and were closed abandoned - NOT fixed).
This bug is still an issue, and you confirmed this, so obviously it won't be
closed (until it's fixed that is).

Exactly what I said, you will be better off just removing all bugs that aren't
touched in the last 6 month. Will reach your "goals" in no time. Those people
who do care, will eventually give up creating new bugs for old problems. And
developers will will get empty bugzilla - their ultimate goal.
No, bugs needs to be fixed. Just wishing the bug is gone is not good enough,
ESPECIALLY before major release.

Vitaliy, it was decided on wine-devel to go through and verify all these old
bugs. Many people don't respond for months on end, or were not asked to do so.
The only way to solve that is by asking users to verify that their bugs still
exists, and close them if not. Otherwise, the number of bugs we have will
simply continue to grow.
See
http://bugs.winehq.org/reports.cgi?product=Wine&datasets=NEW%3A&datasets=UN…
For the progress made so far.

The same happened to me but now it looks like it is fixed, I don't know why.
But in the introduction of Team Fortress 2 and Half-life 2 Episode 2 it keeps
happening. In the introduction is not a big problem, though.

Yes it is still a problem. Stop spamming bugzilla. If that's the way Wine
decided to close all bugs - then just select all that weren't touched in 6
month and delete them. Less noise same effect - quietly swiping problems under
the rag and getting ready for all wonderful 1.0
GL with getting rid of all the bugs... in anyway possible...

The crashes are gone, but now the "Find Text" button
never finds anything. To repeat:
$ wget http://www.jsware.net/linux/riched.zip
$ wget http://activex.microsoft.com/controls/vb6/richtx32.cab
$ wget http://kegel.com/wine/winetricks
$ rm -rf ~/.wine
$ sh winetricks vbrun60
$ cd .wine/drive_c/windows/system32
$ cabextract ~/richtx32.cab
$ wine regsvr32 richtx32.ocx
$ cd ~
$ unzip riched.zip
$ cd "RTB test"
$ wine RichEdTest.exe
type in a word that's in the big text into the search box,
and then try the "find text" button.
If you install native riched20 like this,
$ wget
http://download.microsoft.com/download/winntsp/Patch/RTF/NT4/EN-US/Q249973i…
$ cabextract Q249973i.EXE
$ mv riched20.dll riched32.dll .wine/drive_c/windows/system32
$ wine winectrl
and set them both to native,
the app's find and "color test api" work much better.
Golly, looks like a meaty riched bug to work on for somebody!

It seems to use about 2% to 5% little CPU then when tested in comment #2 So
instead of 100% is is more like 70%
Tested with this morning git. Created a new prefix and install firefox 2.0.0.11
then install the plug in.
Going to this url http://machunter.org/Imaging%20Infinity%20Show1.html has a
version that starts in the paused mode.
Note without a virtual desktop the plugin will go to the full screen mode and
backspace (page back) can be used to regain the desktop. This seems like a
regression as none of the right click menus now show but I have not run it
since I changed to Ubuntu. I will investigate the new problem and fill a bug if
I find a regression commit.

The app gets a bit further now, complaining
err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {438da5e0-f171-11d0-984e-0000f80270f8} not
registered
...
Component 'dhtmled.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a
file is missing or invalid
According to
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa663363.aspx
that UUID is provided by triedit.dll, which is in the same
SDK that dhtmled.ocx is. Copying it into system32 and regsvr32'ing it
fixed that problem.
Next problem is a null pointer reference in triedit.dll:
fixme:msimtf:CActiveIMM_Create ((nil) {08c0e040-62d1-11d1-9326-0060b067b86e}

wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000000 at address 0x59a051f0
(thread 0009), starting debugger...
That UUID is IActiveIMMApp, so perhaps this is a gap in
our msimtf implementation or its ecosystem?
(You can also reproduce this by running VBEdit.exe from
the same DHTML SDK. I retrieved a copy from an archive
site; here's the sha1sum of the copy I retrieved:
3aeaa4b04f87d6bc4abe1c8e65963b51741bb520 dhedsdk.exe
1452151 bytes.)
Anyway, the original problem seems solved.
Closing.

Please test with the latest version of wine (0.9.52) with a clean ~/.wine
If the problem persists, where can we get a copy of the software you have a
problem with?
Also, this is not critical, someone should downgrade the severity.

You're getting an error because the DPLobby object isn't found. This means that

FishFillets2 starts fine up too with current git (though into nice blank
screen).
I double checked that reverting to older wine version brings back the bug
again, so it's really fixed, without having to do any work arounds.
Hurray!!!!!!

IIRC most packers now work, but some of them cannot handle forward exports, so
they crash on opengl32.wgl<something> (which are forwards to gdi32 in wine)

I just tried Gamemaker 7 again, and it looks as if this is fixed.
Allthough I don't have a c:: -link in my dosdevices, nevertheless the app
starts up fine. There is a d:: and e:: -link, but even after removing that it
starts fine.
Anyone could give that Dreamfall-demo a try with current git? (Sorry , download
is really to huge for me)
I'm downloading FishFillets2 ATM and see if that one is fixed too.

Rene, please post in Bugzilla, don't reply to wine-bugs. Email read:
"Hi,
I am just retrying the Heredis9 software installation with wine version
0.9.52.
The installation is ok.
After I run the program , it's ok.
But when it asks me to enter licence key I have a problem because my
licence key is rejected.
It's 5 fields of 4 characters (20 characters)
In the first field I can enter more of 4 characters while the others
fields it's not possible. Naturally I enter only 4 characters in the
first field then I fill the 4 following fields but my licence key is not
accepted.
Thanks for your help

00000001 == DRIVE_NO_ROOT_DIR which means that Wine is unable to
retrieve the drive type. My hypothesis is that TomTom HOME is looking
for a DRIVE_REMOVABLE type device which the attached hack should
confirm. Can you try it?

Hans, it is exactly as you found. Once the device is plugged in when TomTom
Home is running, it regularily tries to find it, but fails. The new drive (D:)
now appears in Winefile when I plug the TomTom in even without the dosdevices
link, thus it works so far.
At the beginning, it enumerates all volumes. Again GetDriveTypeW seems to be
important. Here the TomTom does not seem to be plugged in.

Not sure what GetDriveTypeW is supposed to do, but the retval for D: is clearly
different from the one for the two other internal drives... so why doesn't it
work yet? Both the type and the fact that it is a new drive should be
sufficient for identifying the TomTom. The full +relay trace is at
http://alex.seewald.at/files/log.relay.new.gz, perhaps it helps.

Summary: The Windows Game Conquer 2 does not work at all
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: samuel_lee_1991(a)hotmail.com
When I double click play.exe (After assign this application to run by Wine
where play.exe is the application/ game starter in the game Conquer 2.0), a
grey box do appear. The process wine-pthread, (Uninterrupted process),
wineserver and winedbg had started shown in the System Monitor respectively.
However, seconds later, the grey box disappeared and there is nothing is shown
about the error nor I could do at all. The process wine-pthread and winedbg had
ended at almost the same time and the last process to end is wineserver. (This
process: wineserver ends seconds after the grey box disappear).

AFAIK, Wine still does not allow selecting which sequencer to use, but due to
the patch for this bug, I no longer require that functionality. Wine now
correctly selects the internal hardware synthesiser; there was a bug which was
fixed by the patch supplied here. However I am only using ALSA 1.0.14, not
earlier versions that don't have the SND_SEQ_PORT_TYPE_PORT constant. Maybe if
someone can test against ALSA 1.0.10 or earlier, we'd know if the build problem
still exists :)

why should this be not the problem here? reason? what then could it be?
logs and retvals say it.
ok, searching for wine traces where CoCreateInstance succeds after
CoInitializeEx, found none so far (attachment are not globally searchable), all
other bugs in search "apartment not initialised" results look like similar
reason.
ok, will attach further logs with some linking(?) to my postings (this is a

Initializes the COM library on the current thread and identifies the

initialize the COM library before they can call COM library functions other

New applications should call CoInitializeEx instead of CoInitialize.
CoInitializeEx (retval is 00000000, S_OK) or CoCreateInstance in Wine buggy.
Searching or filing new Wine COM bug and try to work around EECH by using the

--- Comment #32 from Hans Leidekker <hans(a)it.vu.nl> 2008-01-09 14:49:16 ---
This is the interesting part from your relay log:
0042:Call user32.SetWindowsHookExW(00000004,0189c1b0,00000000,00000042)
0042:Ret user32.SetWindowsHookExW() retval=00040064
0042:Call KERNEL32.FindFirstVolumeW(0034e8ec,00000104)
0042:fixme:volume:FindFirstVolumeW (0x34e8ec, 260), stub!
0042:Ret KERNEL32.FindFirstVolumeW() retval=ffffffff
0042:Call KERNEL32.FindVolumeClose(ffffffff)
0042:fixme:volume:FindVolumeClose (0xffffffff), stub!
0042:Ret KERNEL32.FindVolumeClose() retval=00000000
Meanwhile Alexandre has implemented the volume APIs, which promted me to
try TomTom HOME again. This is what it looks like now:
0011:Ret user32.SetWindowsHookExW() retval=00010036
0011:Call KERNEL32.FindFirstVolumeW(0034fa40,00000104)
0011:Ret KERNEL32.FindFirstVolumeW() retval=001557e0
0011:Call KERNEL32.GetDriveTypeW(0034fa40
L"\\\\?\\Volume{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000043}\\")
0011:Ret KERNEL32.GetDriveTypeW() retval=00000000
0011:Call KERNEL32.FindNextVolumeW(001557e0,0034fa40,00000104)
0011:Ret KERNEL32.FindNextVolumeW() retval=00000001
0011:Call KERNEL32.GetDriveTypeW(0034fa40
L"\\\\?\\Volume{00000000-0000-0000-0000-00000000005a}\\")
0011:Ret KERNEL32.GetDriveTypeW() retval=00000000
0011:Call KERNEL32.FindNextVolumeW(001557e0,0034fa40,00000104)
0011:Ret KERNEL32.FindNextVolumeW() retval=00000000
0011:Call KERNEL32.FindVolumeClose(001557e0)
0011:Ret KERNEL32.FindVolumeClose() retval=00000001
So it finds volumes now and wants to know what type they are. That fails
because GetDriveType on a volume name is not implemented yet (I tried, it
works on Windows). The preceding SetWindowsHookEx call presumably serves
to monitor changes to the drives configuration.
Alexander, since you have one of these devices, can you try again
with current git and post the relevant snippet from a +relay log here?

no need to update screenshots as the issue is still present, just a different
color setting
the missing elements are the background sliders on the settings menu and the
lines to group/differentiate some context menus
I wonder if this is related to the broken textures which are present in the
warp tunnel/wreck gfx
