There was still a small problem in IWineD3DDeviceImpl_GetAvailableTextureMem(), which dereferenced the adapter member which is nil when used over the VNC connection. Fixing that (by simply returning some fixed value) it worked fine over VNC. It did however not work with the onboard graphics card, but I didn't have time to investigate further. This was all 0.9.50. Even if I unzip the file manually (thus bypassing win16 altogether) and run the setup by hand, it still thinks I have mfc42 installed, and doesn't do anything. (I think last time it worked was with wine 0.9.48, but I didn't test that yet.) This is happening on Debian Lenny/Testing with linux 2.6.23 on i686 with X.org 7.2 without compiz/beryl installed at all in the win32 app foobar2000 version 0.9.4.4. Currently my workaround is using the up/down keys to select items in the drop down menu, however I would of course be very grateful if someone found the regression causing this functionality to stop working. After working together with him, I have verified this is another GlobalMemoryStatus issue, just like bug 10844 which checks the value of AvailPageFile. This application is testing against the TotalPageFile value set by GlobalMemoryStatus, which gets detected as not enough when it's >2GB. The last effort to address this issue was this patch: http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/?a=commitdiff;h=16aadb2785600cc73cfe7… which checks for old executables, but unfortunately there appears to be some executables out there that have a subsystem version of 4 (pe header) that mishandle large values, where this patch fixes anything less than 4. I have kindly patched Thomas's executable as a temporary workaround for him, which makes the program run without crashing or complaining when run with 0.9.52.
