Anyways, only recently discovered this game. It indeed crashed at first while loading a profile. Tried to patch the game to version 1.1 but with no success. The solution for getting the game run correctly was, installing it in Windows. Then patching the game in Windows and then copying the installed dir from my Windows drive to the Wine drive. Then it boots without any problems. Also, if you have some graphical issues (my mouse cursor and some text was showing multiple times on screen), try disabling the Font buffer as an option in de graphics menu of Fahrenheit. [PATCH] cmd: copy: "Path not found" error

When I tried to copy an old file to a new non-existing file, the copy command failed with the "Path not found" error: Z:\tmp\> copy oldfile newfile Path not found It turns out that the copy command erroneously interpreted a not existing destination file as an existing directory and failed when tried to copy into it. I had some correspondence with the Mount & Blade game developers. They kindly provided me with necessary protector version numbers. For v0.892 game version, Themida v1.9.5.0 was used - which seems to work in wine without major issues (excluding ring0 stuff). The version which showed the crash symptoms was 1.8.4.0 Unfortunately this can't be fixed without breaking major stuff - due to problematic/intrusive behavior of protector (would be great waste of time). I've used the PPD that is shipped with the new cups-pdf. It sets a clipping rect to print on such a small rectangle. In both bug reports, I said the application was GoldMine 6.7. I attached a log file in the original post. I tried your tip (vitaliy(a)kievinfo.com) about gecko and there was no change. It seems the protector was upgraded to a newer version which fixes some wine compatibility issues. The game starts fine now, I played a bit with demo. Downloaded here: http://forums.taleworlds.net/index.php?PHPSESSID=25ba92577df7bfabb59ee3fc01… Do not download from their main site for now (http://www.taleworlds.com/mb_download.html). Seems they didn't upgrade yet (only non-working 0.808 version available as of this writing). Thank the game developers for omitting Themida's ring0 protection techniques. This allows to play the game under wine. If you experience a crash, DO NOT use +relay feature to collect logs. The protector messes with API entries (emulating entry opcode sequences) which won't work well for some wine API when relay thunks are used. I removed wine from my system completely, reinstalled, ran winecfg to generate the needed windows directories, then installed CS2 from the CD. On startup, it give the PIDL message for awhile then load normally. Then PIDL will only come up every so often, run for a bit then move on. I noticed that I couldn't use my extra 2 mouse buttons in "Lord Of The Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar" either. They work just fine in Firefox as going back/forward in history. I don't have any special mouse settings in xorg.conf (I actually don't even a mouse device in there, only a keyboard device). xmodmap -pp shows "There are 9 pointer buttons defined." with simple direct mappings. So, I added an attachment from running with WINEDEBUG=+dinput (grepping out some very often printed line) (#3). At the start I see that it detected the keyboard and mouse and matches stuff. The mouse seems to have 11 objects, though I'm not sure how it gets to that, since I only have the 5 buttons and scrollwheel. Since the log didn't show much (button states were always without activated buttons, only the x/y coordinates changed), I decided to give another look at "xev". Now there something special is indeed happening. The scrollwheel gives button 4 and 5 events, just like the basic 3 buttons. The 2 extra buttons behave differently though, as can be seen in the xev log attached to Comment #5. As far as I remember I don't do any mapping of mouse buttons myself. Thanks for your attention to this problem. The bug continues to exist. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, deleting the ./.wine folder and running wineprefixcreate, all to no avail. I am running Fedora 7, the i386 version.
