in wine 1.7.31, if i run the game with this command:
wine porsche driver=dx7z
and start a race, all i see is the HUD and skybox... no geometry is rendered.
this happens with both the nvidia blob and nouveau.
however, if i install the nglade wrapper and choose the voodoo2z renderer
instead , like this:
wine porsche driver=voodoo2z
then the game renders everything normally, even the intro videos that are never
rendered with dx7z driver.
btw, can someone reopen bug 25065 for me please ?

I have found that I can change the games resolution by alt-tab out of the game
and set the desired resolution in nvidia x server configuration tool and then
alt-tab back into the game. I use Kubuntu (Kde) and this way of fixing the

CC: stefan(a)codeweavers.com
This commit:
http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/?a=commit;h=a756caac0ca3dcd80019b5642…
Causes a performance drop in the Fallen Earth MMO under these conditions:
1. Macbook, Macbook Pro, IMac with ATI/NVIDIA, OSX 10.5.8 -> 10.6.3
2. Scaleform is rendering a swf element on the screen
OpenGl profiler shows that while scaleform is rendering a swf to the screen 65%
of OpenGL is spent in MapBufferRange. As soon as the scaleform rendering is
canceled performance returns to normal.
This is easy to reproduce in Fallen Earth which uses scaleform to render the
help UI. When that UI is open fps is 10-12 when that UI is closed fps is
20-30.
Reverting that commit causes performance to remain constant when scaleform is
rendering.
In Wine version 1.1.41 and 1.1.42 the performance drop is not quite as
noticeable but it is still present and performance is still better without this
commit.

Both indoor and outdoor shadows are rendered incorrectly in the game as you can
see on the attached screenshot or you can reproduce the problem in the demo
version.
The game uses cascaded shadow maps..if that helps anything for the d3d gurus.
After some googling I found that old Nvidia Windows drivers had problems with
rendering shadows in the game, but Nvidia fixed the issue in their Windows
drivers ages ago:
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/365860/pc-games/el-matador-gf8800-…
Without going into speculation, shadows are rendered in a similar way in Two
Worlds 2 and in Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 1 & 2 on my system.

The points in time at which the new file creation dialog was closed by

trap mouse events over other application windows, which it should not do.

The Python module for WMI allows you to create a WMI object for classes.
However in Wine calling the Win32_VideoController class results in the

1. Install Python (`wget
https://www.python.org/ftp/python/3.10.4/python-3.10.4-amd64.exe" && wine
python-3.10.4-amd64.exe`)
2. Install the WMI module (`wine python -m pip install WMI`)
3. Launch Python in wine (`wine python`)
3. Import the module (`import wmi`)
4. Call the Win32_VideoController class (`wmi.WMI().Win32_VideoController()`)

Terminal output from the crash reported.
Download link:
https://downloads.logoscdn.com/LBS9/Installer/9.9.0.0011/Logos-x64.msi
This crash is similar to other crashes that I have seen, namely the first line:
```
Unhandled Exception: System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or
write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is
corrupt.
```
The output is far more extensive than those other crashes. (I will attach
output from one of them as well.)
This was caused while navigating the program's interface. I was attempting to
open a new resource when the crash happened. I've been unable to reproduce
these issues reliably.
---Install Guide---
The app is a bit like kindle in so much as the engine is free but the resources
cost so there is a free download. Unlike kindle it has many advanced research
features and books link together etc. The main app is free but there are paid
features, resources and subscriptions. To use the app you need a free account
https://www.logos.com/product/194909/logos-9-basic. It uses a downloader app
which last I tried doesn't work with wine. The actual msi link is
https://downloads.logoscdn.com/LBS9/Installer/9.6.0.0024/Logos-x64.msi
---Manual Install Procedure:---
1 Install wine 6 or newer
2 winetricks corefonts
3 winetricks settings fontsmooth=rgb
4 winetricks dotnet48
5 winetricks settings renderer=gdi (you might need to set the reg key
manually)
6 Install the Logos.msi download but don't run it.
7 wine64 reg add "HKCU\\Software\\Wine\\AppDefaults\\LogosIndexer.exe" /v
Version /t REG_SZ /d vista /f
8 Run Logos and sign in with your free account.
---GUI Install Script---
There is a script which downloads a preconfigured wine bottle and sets it all
up in $USER/Logos_BibleP directory which you can then easily remove etc.
https://github.com/ferion11/LogosLinuxInstaller/releases Choose fast install
without wine AppImage.
There is currently a major issue from an update in Logos 9.10+ that prevents
Logos from working through wine. Use the given install link.

Actually it's still possible to use Steam menu, but you need to guess/remember
what you are clicking. I can't capture menu, because when I press ⌘ (+⇧+4) menu
disappears.

Visual help for the steps
Steps to reproduce:
1) remove ~/.wine
2) install civilization4demo_multi.zip
3) wine Civilization4.exe
4) Click on "Play the demo"
5) Click on "Indian Empire" then OK
6) Click OK to confirm your details
7) Click OK to confirm your difficulty level
8) Click on "Continue" to start a game
9) Click on "Settler" and press "B" key to build a city
10) Click on "Fast worker" to start building it in the city
11) Click on "Agriculture" to start researching it
12) Press Shift+Enter to end a turn and repeat it like ca. 15 times until the
fast worker gets completed (you get many notifications along the way, so answer
to them as you like)
13) LMB on the fast worker
14) Press and hold Shift button
15) Move the mouse pointer on a corn field
16) RMB on the corn field tile (remember to still hold Shift key)
Behaviour:
A context menu opens (see video)
Expected behaviour:
An indication to move to the corn field tile should appear (see video)
Additional information:
1) The context menu mentioned above opens on Windows when I press Shift+LMB
instead of Shift+RMB
2) The bug happens also in the full version of the game, but the behaviour
there is different i.e. the game shows an indication to move to a corn field
tile, but doesn't lock the action, so I cannot choose what to build on this
corn field tile.

Process:

3. Setup/install
4. Load application
Native mshtml causes a stack overflow. Switching back to builtin avoids the
overflow but doesn't help.
Native shdoclc (AND native mshtml) works around the bug and allows the
application to continue, and log in. Either alone have their own problems so
I'm not sure where the issue lay. There are possibly two, separate bugs here
but I cannot separate them.

I merely want my retrolink gamecube-style controller to work with ALL the
games I've installed on Steam using steam-wine. Apparently the bug, according
to a developer of one of the games that doesn't work, stems from Proton
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/1549 but I can't troubleshoot it
because the moment I try to access the controller settings, several popup
errors appear saying something (one was I think "can't find surface"), none of
which are searchable (until after I paste them here, I guess). One of them also
appears when run from Konsole:
"\src\panorama\renderer\d3d10d2dsurface.cpp (9532) : Assertion Failed: No D2D
device created, possible no GPU supoprting D3D10_FEATURE_LEVEL_9_1 or higher

And WHY IS SUPPORTING MISSPELLED ON WINE ALONE????

Hi,
Currently with plain wine-7.8, install and launch EA Origins work without
issue.
But there is an issue when i want to download a game.
As you can see on the screenshot, Origin waiting for permission with Windows

In the past, i did not have this issue and i tried with wine 6.23 and the issue
subsist. I suspect a new version of Origin which cause this.
I tried wine-staging and same issue. Strangely with wine-GE
(https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/wine-ge-custom), there is not issue and i
can download the game correctly, i don't have the permission popup.

The Betfair Poker installer hangs around for a while then asks you to check the
Internet connection. The application itself simply downloads the main program.
To workaround:
1. "winetricks -q ie6"
2. Set everything except mshtml to builtin
So assuming the issue is with mshtml. I don't have a Windows installation to
try mshtml directly so hopefully winetricks doesn't do anything magical.

Lazarus can't start simple program for debugging. Tested on version 2.2.0 both
32 and 64 bit.
How to reproduce:
1. Install and run Lazarus
2. Run the default simple program (F9)
The debugging session is started but the program does not start. The session
can't be terminated. The program starts correctly without debugging (Ctrl+F9).

Wine 4.18 console log
On closing Rebelbetting 6.17, the application sits in the background for a
while consuming 100% of one core, then eventually hits an unhandled exception.
Both Vanilla and Staging.
I don't recall this happening before but this application is force-updated on
each load, and a bisect could take me a little while. Will update.

I don't remember this happening on my Ubuntu machine, but on my Gentoo box, I
get no sound in Singularity unless I set Hardware acceleration = emulation.
This has a bad side effect, however. It enables sound in the menu/intro video,
but when it transitions to the game, it hangs on the loading screen.
This only helps in alsa mode, with oss, I get no sound, either way.

Wine 6.23 console log [23 MB]
Honeygain has a limited UI and so runs quietly in the system tray.
Under Wine the application either exits silently and Wine closes gracefully, or
the application becomes a zombie (in which case sending SIGHUP to conhost allow
Wine to exit gracefully).
The application has to run for a while to see this behaviour and it is not
clear how to trigger this, nor is it possible to predict exactly how it will
exit.

The program reportedly just exits instead of starting.
Reported on the forums at https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=33776
Pretty sure this is a deficiency in wine regarding the ENIGMA protector. The
demo of the game works just fine, but the full game doesn't.
I don't own the game, and don't know of another affected program, any ideas on
how to investigate this? What kind of logs would help? Though I fear ENIGMA
might fight debugging...
Note: This needs staging because of bug 43548 (aka bug 21232).

Using the latest wine 1.5.25 or latest from the git repository, the game starts
and goes to the login screen, but there is no way you can login. I get all
kinds of errors, mainly:
Username or password wrong
Connection timed out
Connection lost
It seems that the problem relies in winsock, I've attached a +winsock log
The highlight seems to be the following, as this line is repeated again and
again:
trace:winsock:WS2_recv_base socket 01c8, wsabuf 0x33ebb0, nbufs 1, flags 0,

warn:winsock:WS2_recv_base -> ERROR 10035
Also, doing a search in the log for "63.251.64.141" (the authentication
server's IP) will give you the parts from when I clicked on the "Login" button.
Thanks,
Thanos

Honeygain is unable to remember account details and they have to be entered on

Work around is to copy the XML file user.config to
$WINEPREFIX/drive_c/users/$USER/AppData/Local/Honeygain_Url_RANDOM_SEQUENCE/0.10.7.0
from the equivalent directory on a Windows 10 installation.
Note that RANDOM_SEQUENCE is exactly that and varies between installations (for
some reason).
Tried "winetricks msxml3 msxml4 mshtml" but it made no difference.
The website states:
“At least Windows 7 with minimum .NET Framework 4.7.2”
Tried "winetricks dotnet472" but it keeps failing at the dotnet40 stage.
Will try earlier versions but having problems with compilation so will have to
come back once I've tested further.
Tested with Wine 6.20 and Wine Staging 6.20.

Patch to stub SetThreadInformation
With the upcoming Star Citizen 3.17.1 build, the game has started applying
power throttling information on its worker threads, which requires the missing
method SetThreadInformation.
I wrote - and attached - a quick patch to stub it out in a manner that seems
enough for the game to keep working.
Threw a quick look at the Windows API documentation as well - on how hard it
would be to do a more proper implementation, but I have honestly no idea what
the input data is supposed to accomplish, and a stub seems to do just fine.

Hi,
Trying to launch an application (a custom wow BfA to be precise), I got an
error saying a dll function is not implemented :
KERNEL32.dll.RaiseFailFastException (see backtrace for more details).
It seems to be this function :
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/errhandlingapi/nf-errhan…
It looks short and simple, at least in the Windows implementation.
Thanks,

Terminal Output from crash opening notes panel.
6.14 introduces a regression in which opening the notes panel causes an instant
crash. Terminal output attached.
There appears to be something of a fix in 6.14 staging already however the load
time of this panel is very slow and so is its updating etc. In 6.01 stable it
is almost instant.
This is a regression which it would be great if we can pin down and fix.
Any help appreciated - I've included an install guide as it isn't obvious.
---Install Guide---
The app is a bit like kindle in so much as the engine is free but the resources
cost so there is a free download. Unlike kindle it has many advanced research
features and books link together etc. The main app is free but there are paid
features, resources and subscriptions. To use the app you need a free account
https://www.logos.com/product/194909/logos-9-basic. It uses a downloader app
which last I tried doesn't work with wine. The actual msi link is
https://downloads.logoscdn.com/LBS9/Installer/9.6.0.0024/Logos-x64.msi
---Manual Install Procedure:---
1 Install wine 6 or newer
2 winetricks corefonts
3 winetricks settings fontsmooth=rgb
4 winetricks dotnet48
5 winetricks settings renderer=gdi (you might need to set the reg key
manually)
6 Install the Logos.msi download but don't run it.
7 wine64 reg add "HKCU\\Software\\Wine\\AppDefaults\\LogosIndexer.exe" /v
Version /t REG_SZ /d vista /f
8 Run Logos and sign in with your free account.
---GUI Install Script---
There is a script which downloads a preconfigured wine bottle and sets it all
up in $USER/Logos_BibleP directory which you can then easily remove etc.
https://github.com/ferion11/LogosLinuxInstaller/releases Choose fast install
without wine AppImage.

I noticed some strangeness with virtual desktops. Configuring one (either via
winetricks or winecfg) and then starting e.g., notepad/regedit starts the
application outside of the virtual desktop.
To ensure it wasn't a race, I did 'wineserver -w' (and also added a sleep of 10
seconds), but the problem remains. After a few tries (usually 2-3), the
application will start inside the desktop, and from there, it seems to always
work as expected.
Commandline used:
$ winetricks -q vd=1024x768 ; wineserver -w ; sleep 10 ; notepad

Running Rebelbetting BEFORE (or without) logging into Betfair gives normal,
sensible results.
After logging into Betfair some (but not all) of the calculated numbers are
insanely high, either positive or negative. Screenshot attached.
The cause seems to be from a stake of 2^31 which appears most of the time, but
not always. It also seems to be avoided if two or none of the participants is
Betfair.
Betfair's API uses JSON.
I wasn't sure if this was a bug in the software so I've been running it for a
while on Linux and Windows 10 ― it definitely only occurs in Linux.
WARNING: running Rebelbetting twice with the same log-in details will get your
account suspended for at least one hour.
I don't think this is a regression as this has happened for as long as I can
remember.
Account for both Rebelbetting and Betfair required to test.
To get this far:
1. "winetricks dotnet45" (Bug 48014)
Note there are other bugs which may be encountered (see the AppDB).
Running in 32-bit wineprefix. I haven't yet tested in a 64-bit wineprefix to
see if the numbers change, but I think the app is 32-bit anyway.
Note that this is similar, but subtly different to Bug 38944. The fix there may
offer a clue following a very long, very tedious regression test, but I'm
saving that as a very last resort (and may not even be related).

Patch checking for a dot in lpstrDeviceType and switching to MCI_OPEN_ELEMENT
accordingly.
I stumbled upon the error
fixme:mci:MCI_LoadMciDriver Couldn't load driver for type L"PINBALL.MID"
(as reported in the "Additional Comments" on
https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=1673&iTesting…)
while playing with 3D Pinball Space Cadet. This error prevents the MIDI
background music of the game from playing.
For reference, aplaymidi and the testing mcishell (wintest.exe) both play the
file without problems.
I tracked down this error to the function MCI_Open receiving MCI_OPEN_TYPE and
the string "pinball.mid" as lpstrDeviceType, instead of MCI_OPEN_ELEMENT and
the string in lpstrElementName.
While this may seem like a bug in Pinball, the function MCI_Open actually
already applies some check for this situation (see the comment in lines
1763-1766 of mci.c). However, the check is based on some '!' character present
in the string, which does not cover Pinball's case.
I did create a patch for my own needs, see attachment.
Please note that I provide no guarantee about the scope accuracy of this patch
- it does solve the problem, but maybe checking for the presence of a dot in
the string is too broad and creates bug with other programs...
Assuming that the logic of the patch is good, it may also be wanted to
merge/simplify/rewrite the checks somewhat, eg. merging the ERR(...), etc.

1.9.22
1.9.23
all in the staging variant,
currently compiling 1.9.21-staging
and will later try out vanilla 1.9.21 whether it also happens there (highly
probable).
OS is Gentoo ~amd64,
GCC 4.9.4 hardened, binutils 2.27
this also happens with GCC 6.2 hardened
hardened toolchain didn't make a difference in stability and operation before
since flags that break WINE are filtered out automatically.
Last known working and stable combination of using "Sticky Note Tool" (Bubbles
with Text in them) in PDF-XChange Editor and WINE is
WINE 1.9.21 and PDF-XChange Editor 6.0.317.1
all newer versions up to 6.0.319.0 crash while adding annotations and
attempting to add a "Sticky Note"
PDF-XChange Editor 6.0.317.1 and >WINE 1.9.21
while selecting "Sticky Note Tool" and pasting a bubble on the PDF file has a
problem of NOT displaying the content of the sticky note,
also AFTER the sticky note is added to the PDF file after a short amount of
time WINE / the program will crash
Will post stack-traces later when I don't need working WINE

I am corroborating reports by another user that this game installs (but does
not run correctly after a recent update). I don't use the game myself!! It
installs on Windows 7 OK. However a small batch file needs to be run to correct
a bug in the most recent update. (All this 5-line script does is copy a file
'LC.exe_' over the existing 'LC.exe' - the main game executable).
Please refer to this forum thread:
http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=10011
On Ubuntu 10.04+WINE 1.3.5 the game installs and runs an initial launcher. This
updates itself. After update is complete - immediately on pressing the 'START'
button a popup window appears: 'This program could not be run itself'
(NB obviously I've worked around the installer bug...)
He was using stable version 1.2 (also on Ubuntu). He reports he has previously
had the game working under WINE (before a recent update).
I ran the game using:
$ wine LC.exe
There is a whole lot repeated output but one line appears in the shell output:
fixme:advapi:ParseStringSidToSid String constant not supported: L"(A"
only when I press the 'START' button on the game launcher. This is immediately
prior to the popup error window appearing.
I have attached the rest of the shell output as a file.

http://download.angrybirds.com/
After installation, the game starts in fullscreen mode by default.
If the game is switched to windowed mode, by clicking on the gear and then the
rectangle, the game switches out of fullscreen mode and the music continues to
play but the window is not visible.
There is a configuration file 'Program Files/Rovio/Angry Birds/config.lua'
which contains the line 'fullscreen = true'. If this line is changed to
'fullscreen = false', the game always starts in windowed mode, but can be
switched to fullscreen and back to windowed mode without any problems.

Summary: PuTTY window does not receive focus when "Allow window

Product: Wine

Platform: x86-64
URL: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/
OS/Version: Linux

I noticed this issue testing PuTTY 0.62 with wine-1.5.19-74-g4bb92e1. Testing
on Lubuntu 11.10 (OpenBox 3.5.0 WM).
When the "Allow the window manager to control the windows" option has been
disabled using winecfg, the PuTTY terminal window does not receive keyboard
input. Instead the console window which you ran putty.exe from receives input.
That only applies to the PuTTY terminal window, not the initial settings
window. It also only applies when *not* in virtual desktop mode.
To reproduce:
- Disable "Allow the window manager to control the windows" in winecfg
- Download and run putty.exe. The PuTTY Configuration window appears. Note
that initially it does not seem to have focus; the window title bar is grey not
blue. However the window does actually have focus and receives keyboard input.
- Connect to a server. E.g. enter telehack.com for Host Name, Telnet for
connection type and click the Open button.
- The terminal window appears after a few seconds. It seems to be focused
(title bar blue) but even if you click in the window, the characters you type
appear in the console. (If you activate another window before clicking in the
PuTTY one, input goes to that window instead.)

The game crashes when trying to do some quests, but in specific the Monster
Hunter quest. The "dispatch_exception EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION exception
(code=c0000005) raised" got my attention when crashing.
Also the crash isn't always reproducible, I would it crashes 95% of time at the
same part, but there is a 5% chance that the game doesn't crashes at all (the
crashes aren't experienced by Windows users).
Also there is a "workaround" to decrease (just a little) the chances of the
game crashing that is running the game with WINEDEBUG, as:
WINEDEBUG=warn+all,-d3d,-d3d_perf,-wgl,-ntdll wine NovaRO.exe
as said by a developer of the game it "Debug output is required to avoid a race
condition in the client."
steps to reproduce (after the game already installed, account and character
already created):
- type "@go mh" (without quotes) in the chat
- go to the entrance at your front
- select "play cutscene" option

as this failure:

But likely also causes these:
ndis.c:124: Test failed: Wrong ServiceName
ndis.c:77: Test failed: Wrong permanent address
ndis.c:84: Test failed: Wrong current address
So this can cause failures when running it on a machine that has Docker/Podman,
QEmu (particularly if it acts as a TestBot VM host), VPNs (if the connection
gets reset at the wrong time), etc.

Normally you'd hear sound upon starting the game on Windows but Wine gives no
sound output. This also occurs in-game as well on the main screen. I checked if
there's a wine application entry in pavucontrol but there seems to be none.
Some people - according to this Reddit thread
(https://www.reddit.com/r/gwent/comments/6dtfyl/installing_gwent_on_macos_wi…)
- seem to have the same problem.
On a side note, there seems to be some graphical glitch which displays animated

it isn't already a known bug).

The game crashes at a certain point in Chapter 2, where your task is to 'pick
up' water around a totem pole. Absorbing water can be done by pressing and
holding the left mouse button. When I position the mouse over the water and
press LMB, the game crashes. The crash is fully reproducible and always occurs
at the same point. It makes impossible to get further in the game.
Tried with native d3dx, dsound, dinput8, but they didn't help.

Summary: TSMuxer introduces a rectangle at the end of every
line when muxing an .srt file into a .m2ts container
Product: Wine
Version: 7.8
Hardware: x86-64

Reporter: shagooserver(a)gmail.com

Created attachment 72348
--> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=72348
error example
TSMuxer is essentially a muxing program to combine the 3 types of streams found
in a movie, video, audio and subtitles into a container file so the movie can
be watched on a player, VLC for example, in this instance that is a .m2ts
container file. As part of the muxing process TSMuxer converts the .srt file
into a .pgs stream/file to meet the specification for a .m2ts container.
My testing has shown that any .srt file is affected, regardless of it's source.
Please see the attachment which shows the rectangle which is added to the end
of every line.
TSMuxer is available at: https://github.com/justdan96/tsMuxer
I have spot tested releases for the last 2 years with the same result because
everything is labelled as pre release. The program was originally launched in
2004 as far as I can tell. I have mainly been testing the Windows 64 bit
releases but also a 32 bit release with exactly the same problem.
The easiest way to get the files needed would be to download a TV show from the
internet which includes subtitles and is in a .mkv container. MKV containers
support .srt subtitles natively so it just needs to be demuxed. Any other
container type other than mkv will require additional steps to convert whatever
subtitle stream it contains into an .srt file.
Once you have the 3 file types (usually h264, ac3 and srt) just open TSMuxer
and drag these 3 files into the top window from your file manager, h264 file
first.
Apologies if you feel I am trying to teach you how to suck eggs. I am available
to lend any assistance if needed.

When I launch something like notepad or just a random EXE, the wine window
header shows up but nothing else. When using the wine PKG file, it works. When
manually extracting it, it doesn't. An attachment is below of the problem.
macOS version: 10.13.6 (native)
The command I was trying to run:
WINEPREFIX=~/64WINE winetricks vcrun2019
but also
WINEPREFIX=~/64WINE notepad
I read somewhere that setting a environment variable fixed it, it doesn't for
me.
X11 (Xquartz) is installed, and is in the PATH.
I do not have a metal GPU, (ATI Radeon 5750 1024mb), but that shouldn't affect
it because this is wine version 6.23.
Thanks!

The faithlife assistant is a voice controlled simple AI that helps with

output. Tried installing speechsdk with winetricks... still crashes.
---Install Guide---
The app is a bit like kindle in so much as the engine is free but the resources
cost so there is a free download. Unlike kindle it has many advanced research
features and books link together etc. The main app is free but there are paid
features, resources and subscriptions. To use the app you need a free account
https://www.logos.com/product/194909/logos-9-basic. It uses a downloader app
which last I tried doesn't work with wine. The actual msi link is
https://downloads.logoscdn.com/LBS9/Installer/9.6.0.0024/Logos-x64.msi
---Manual Install Procedure:---
1 Install wine 6 or newer
2 winetricks corefonts
3 winetricks settings fontsmooth=rgb
4 winetricks dotnet48
5 winetricks settings renderer=gdi (you might need to set the reg key
manually)
6 Install the Logos.msi download but don't run it.
7 wine64 reg add "HKCU\\Software\\Wine\\AppDefaults\\LogosIndexer.exe" /v
Version /t REG_SZ /d vista /f
8 Run Logos and sign in with your free account.
---GUI Install Script---
There is a script which downloads a preconfigured wine bottle and sets it all
up in $USER/Logos_BibleP directory which you can then easily remove etc.
https://github.com/ferion11/LogosLinuxInstaller/releases Choose fast install
without wine AppImage.

Nexus TK (download from http://nexustk.com/, AppDB entry is
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=926) crashes
when editing a board post.
It is possible to type the post without problems. As far as I can tell, the
problem occurs when doing something other than continuing to type, or pasting
-- most recently, I attempted to hilight some text, and crash.
By "crash", I mean the game (running in a 1024x768 desktop window) stops
responding entirely, and the log seems to indicate that some process died.
Note: Nexus works flawlessly with version 0.9.40 -- it has no bugs that Nexus
itself doesn't when running under Windows, and, in fact, is often more stable
than on Windows. I'll add regression tests and logs soon...
The game is otherwise usable, as far as I can tell. For now, I will compose in
a separate window, and paste into Nexus.
Every version I have tried since 0.9.40 has had problems. I believe the game
would not even run until 0.9.62, and this bug does happen in 1.0-rc1. Stock
Ubuntu install from a repository.

winecfg output during prefix creation and automatic wine-mono download
Mouse interactions are sometimes offset 10~30 (random) pixels up from where the
cursor is displayed
Tried in LTSpice XVII and in winecfg, with wine 6.6 (Arch Linux "wine" package,
wine-mono downloaded by wine and not from the Arch package) in a new win64
Windows 7 prefix.
Wine 6.5 worked fine.
I cannot test with the latest developement version for disk space and available
time problems.
## LTSpice XVII
LTSpice is a light and easy-to-use electronic simulation freeware by Analog
Devices:
https://ltspice.analog.com/software/LTspiceXVII.exe
(Installation log attached, using app defaults)
(Run log attached)
In the component selector: open an existing schematic and right click on a
transistor, or create a new schematic and add a transistor (F2, select "npn",
Enter, place it anywhere with a left click, then Escape) and right click on it,
try to click on new transistor, try to select any of the parts.
In the component selection window, in the Bipolar Transistor right-click menu,
in the transistor selection dialog and also in the save modified file prompt
when exiting, I need to point a bit under the button or item (0~30 pixels,
variable) to actually click on the item and not on whatever is immediately over
it.
Sometimes the offset varies in the same window, for example from about 20
pixels to zero.
I did not find that the toolbar, the menu bar or the schematic view were
affected.
The list of transistor types in the transistor selection dialog also has
another problem: the grey header of the list, with labels such as "Part No.",
"Manufacturer", Polarity", "Vceo[V]", is often drawn blank or with an
incoherent line of the list, and reappears only when scrolling right. This is
mentioned to ease usage of the application, ideally I should file another bug
for this issue, but I haven't done it in the past three years.
## winecfg
While creating the clean prefix (by running winecfg, see also attached log), I
found that mouse clicks are also offset in winecfg, for example when adding a
drive unit (pointing to a folder), the drop-down menu that allows one to select
a drive unit also rolls down only if I click about 20 pixels under its lower
margin, and the same for the OK and Cancel buttons.
The Add button and the other controls in the winecfg tab do not behave offset.
## explorer
The file properties popup has the same offset problem.
It seems to me that the issue manifests itself in popups.
Performing enough clicks and resizes on the window, sometimes the offset goes
away.

Please add a more descriptive error message for the following errors:
"File not found"
[ OK ]
and
"Invalid name"
[ OK ]
Both with 'stop' icon, and shown 10 times in succession.
I *think* they are triggered via "ShellExecute" in my own VB6 legacy
application.
Sorry I can't be more specific than that because the errors are so vague.
For example, it would be tremendously helpful *which* file is not found
(Wine/OS executable/dll file, the targeted command/executable, the file passed
to targeted command/executable, or if it is an error triggered by the
potentially launched application or Wine/OS?
Same for "invalid name". Invalid name what? Name of executable? Drive letter?
Drive mapping? Folder name? File name? Extension name? Application name? OS
name?
The only hint I have is that this message dialogue is Wine styled and thus not
something triggered outside Wine environment. Maybe they are not even related
to ShellExecute.
I'm aware this is probably the most useless bug report ever, I just want to
encourage any developer who is reading this to write more useful error messages
in the future. It has cost both of us more time to write/read this ticket than
to improve the code that displays these errors. And I'm nowhere near finding a
solution for my problem after hours and hours...
No hard feelings, I absolutely love Wine! Thanks for your efforts!

Summary: Final Fantasy XI Setup window is not rendered properly

Severity: normal

When running the setup for Final Fantasy XI Online, which will execute 'msiexec
/i FINAL_FANTASY_XI.msi', the application window is not rendered properly and
appears to be frozen, but 'msiexec' will be using about 100% of one CPU core.
The window may or may not show the current process being "computing space
requirements", which will not be updated if the window is minimised and
restored for example, showing an empty frame.
After approximately 6 minutes (possibly depending on CPU power, the disk space
available, or/and other unknown factors), the installer will proceed to the
next step.
Unsure if related at all, but the 'msi' debug channel will print a lot of lines
like these with an ever increasing row number:
00fc:trace:msi:MSI_ViewFetch 0526D538 0062F610
00fc:trace:msi:msi_view_get_row view 0526D830, row 48244, rec 0062F610.
00fc:trace:msi:msi_view_refresh_row 01A65D78 0526D830 48244 055F45F8
00fc:trace:msi:msiobj_release object 055F45F8 destroyed
After proceeding further with the setup, there is another space requirements
check which makes the window behave similarly, but the time the window appears
hung is a lot shorter. Other phases during the install, such as copying new
files also have times where the window isn't updated (blank/transparent after
minimise/restore).
This is no recent regression, and has been there for several years (possibly
ever since the release of the latest version of the installer in 2019).

PLEASE add a VERY CLEAR reminder to link bugs to the AppDB once a bug has been
logged. I've spent hours doing this for apps that (claim to) have maintainers.
Even people who have submitted test results don't bother linking the bugs they
report (i.e. they have accounts for both).
I had to link around 20 to Steam alone.
If nobody cared about this feature of the AppDB then why does it exist?
At least with a blatant message people cannot claim they "didn't know".
I don't think I need to explain why the links to the AppDB are useful.
I know I can submit a patch for this myself, but I suspect someone can do this
a lot quicker than I can.
Ta.

A log from the application, to help with the errors
EA's Origin application installs fine if one imports the insecure certificate,
I can login, and everything seems to be in working order, However, if I try to
download a game (or well... anything), the download progresses completely
normally all the way to 99%, and will then fail right there. It doesn't start
installing, so killing off EAProxyInstaller doesn't change anything, and none
of the patching tricks have worked. Something interesting to note that in the
interface, it will actually show the downloaded information as being a tiny bit
short - like, say, 168.32mb out of 168.38mb (just an example). The logs also
seem to support this; after a certain amount, it seems as though it tries to
connect to a server, but keeps being turned down with a 503 error. I believe it
works fine under Windows, so it doesn't appear to be an Origin error. I decided
to add the application's log, since I think I can only add a single attachment,
but I would be happy to provide the output wine produces if you would like. I
also tried switching versions of Windows, and neither Windows XP nor Windows 10
nor Windows 7 work - it doesn't seem to make a difference of the emulated
version.

Stack backtrace and loaded libraries
To reproduce the specific segfault:
1) Install Anno1404, either the steam version or the GoG one.
2) Patch the I.A.A.M. mod over Anno 1404
3) Apply the '4gb patch' to the result (or flag the executable as
large-address-aware).
4) Launch the game, play a big map for about 60-70 minutes (or leave it running
for that long).
Wined3d will segfault at address (+0x34dee) (0x0033f038), according to winedbg.
See the attached file for more information.
As far as I've tested, it's always that exact spot where the fault happens.
Without a debugger attached, a user would experience a freezing program. If ran
in full-screen mode, it will also lock up your X session, requiring the user to
terminate the wine application from another tty console.

Picture of main window with windows version set to win7
LibreOffice 5.4.0 renders all fonts as completely black.
Setting windows version to XP helps a tiny bit, but only affects the main
window. LibreOffice programs like writer or calc remain unchanged.
Tested with both wine2.15 and wine-staging2.15.
Note: When using normal wine, you need to set "MaxVersionGL".

LibreOffice 4.3 and 4.4beta in Windows 7 can connect to Google Drive via the
server login box. This does not work under Wine.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Tools->Options->General, tick "Use LibreOffice dialogue boxes".
2. File->Open, click on "Servers ..." (4.4b) or "..." (4.3) to bring up server
login box.
3. Enter a name for the connection.
4. Type: CMIS
5. Server type: Google Drive
6. Enter Google email address as Login
7. Click on clockwise arrow box.
Expected result:
8. Asks you for username (Google email address) and password.
9. Google appears as an option in the file open dialogue.
Actual result:
8. Appears to hang for a time, then comes back.
Nothing is written to the command line while doing this.

After following the FAQ, Wiki and several community posts instructions tried

After confirming all the paths were correct as far as I could,
I followed the paths to where the exe should have been, and also searched the

no Wine link was created, and only the Studio\ 2.0.lnk was created.
So when I clicked on it, it kept trying to run itself, over and over again.
I deleted the .lnk's and re-downloaded Studio 2.0 from the Bricklink.com site,
this time being careful to Not check the desktop shortcut.
I now have an installed studio.exe file, but no desktop shortcut.
I have to reboot to see if Studio 2.0 will function, but that means closing

I am playing a game (EVE Online) under Wine 1.5.8 and it consumes roughly 750MB
to 1GB. I think a lot of that memory is static data. Multiple copies of the
game can be run simultaneously (multi-boxing).
I would like to know if Wine can take advantage of the kernel's KSM (Kernel
Samepage Merging) feature. I know the KVM (Kernel Virtual Machines) already
does this.
This would be really awesome to have!!
Thanks!

"winetricks ie8" succeeds, but the resulting browser doesn't seem to work.
There are workarounds if you just care about the contents of the
browser (e.g. you can use ie6's main window, and ie8's guts), but I
don't know of a workaround for getting ie8's main window to work.
This has probably never worked, but I'm marking 1.3.2 since that's when I first
tried it.

In Wine 7.9, running "w2kexcp.exe /u" starts the uninstall program but that
ends up hanging.

Trying via "wine uninstaller" only offers a repair option - uninstall is greyed
out.
The cause has shifted multiple times since this bug was opened. Shall we close
this and start fresh? The original unimplemented function(s) are now
implemented.

TwitchTest program does not work, you can not even insert the key in the
window. Earlier it used to crash after testing one server, but now even the key
cannot be inserted (Ctrl+V)

Bug ID: 43045
Summary: Mendeley plugin for MS Word 2010: error to any action
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown

wine186_output_mendeley_word_plugin_20170517
This issue was already reported some years ago as bug 32315, but it was closed
without an actual fix.
To sum up: I can successfully install MS Office, Mendeley and the Mendeley Word
plugin, but if I click on "References" in Word, I get the following as a
"Microsoft Visual Basic" error:
Run-time error 429: ActiveX component can't create object.
Then, if I click on anything in the Mendeley Cite-O-Matic section, I get the
following as a "Mendeley Word Plugin Problem" (notice the different headers):
ActiveX component can't create object ( 429) in MendeleyPlugin. For more help,
visit http://support.mendeley.com
This essentially renders the complete Word plugin unusable.
I have experienced this error in Wine 1.8.6 as well as 2.8, while in bug 32315
the same error (although with slightly different wine output) was reported for
versions 1.7.x
I attach the wine output as well. (First two lines were output during clicking
"References", last three while clicking "Insert citation".)
Thank you in advance if you decide to look into this, currently this is the
only thing that keeps me from using Wine.
Config:
openSUSE 42.1
Wine 1.8.6 (with vcrun6, wsh57 and corefonts installed, version set to Windows
7) or Wine 2.8
MS Office 2010 (32bit)
Mendeley 1.17.9 (download here:
https://www.mendeley.com/download-mendeley-desktop/, install word plugin with
Tools/Install MS Word Plugin)

Wine 4.19 console output
Rebelbetting, with dotnet45, runs fairly well for a number of hours, before
giving up. The length of time is random but it has usually been running for a
number of hours before it does so.

I have no idea how to get a proper backtrace anymore.
Starting the application again works fine, so it's more of an annoyance than
anything.
Runs continuously without any problems under Win 8.1.

Summary: SlingPlayer 2.0.4 fails to connect

wine-1.3.30-45-ga843ace console output
SlingPlayer 2.0.4 cannot connect to the Slingbox, despite the native quartz.dll
workaround for bug 18556. There isn't anything to give a clue in the console
output.
The Slingplayer reports "There was a problem communicating with the Slingbox.
Please try connecting again."
Tried native qcap but it makes no difference.
Wireshark shows that the Slingplayer and the Slingbox do exchange data before
failing, but it is not clear what that data is. Slingplayer 1.5 can stream
(but has problems with sound).
This never happened before, but I went back to Wine 1.2.3 and the same problem
occurs. Perhaps something has changed in the Slingplayer (which updates itself
during install) or in Ubuntu that is affecting this app.
Will keep looking.
