with wine 0-9.39 before. I let you know result the other day.

You can get to the font dialog by right clicking "Document1" on the left pane,
then select Properties and go to the font tab. With today's git, the font dialog
won't update the font style when you change it. It will, however, if you change
the font size.

To run Catia, you have to run i4tgtid and/or i4target,
both of which can be downloaded from
http://www.catiastudent.com/student_targetid.htm,
to retrieve your system's "node id" (derived from
your mac address, I think). These tools fail because
they try to open the PlugPlay service and/or the
registry keys
System\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\TCPIP\\Linkage
System\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\NetBT\\Linkage
System\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\Nbf\\Linkage
Those keys are described a bit here:

It was suggested (by me) that this was a duplicate of another fixed bug.
Another commenter noted that a newer version of WINE should be used to see if it
still occurs. The person who originally opened the issue never responded.
Short of a test case that demonstrates that it's still an issue, I suggest
closing it out as a duplicate of another already fixed bug.

I have the same problem.
WoW worked perfectly (thanks guys!) then I upgraded my Fedora Core 6. It was a
big upgrade, including new nVidia drivers, new kernel, and new Wine.
WoW still works, but hang on quit. I have to do CTRL-C in the console to close it.
System : Fedora Core 6 (with 2007/03/14 update)
Kernel : 2.6.19-1.2911.6.5.fc6 x86_64
nVidia : 1.0-9755pkg2
Wine : 0.9.32
------- Additional Comments From freidrichen(a)slaskpost.se 2007-31-07 14:14 -------
I experienced this recently, before a wine upgrade.
I think the old version where this bug existed was 0.9.36 and the version where
the bug seems to be fixed is 0.9.42.
(It should be mentioned that I also upgraded a bunch of other stuff, but I don't
think it was anything relevant.)
So to anyone having this problem I can recommend trying to upgrade wine.
Cheers Freidrichen

Yes it is reproduceable. It happens every time I start GoonZu.
Maybe it's releated to the "Requesting authentication from front server"
(should I enter a new bug for this?) problem I get when I run the GoonZu
without the patcher. That's why I put Severity to Major.
BTW:
To run GoonZu with patcher you have to use the GoonZuRun.exe
To run the GoonZu without it you have to run Goonzu.exe
If you get the helmet.txt error you have to run GoonZu from the installpath.

For the record, the install completes with the following log warning:
err:module:import_dll Library MSVCIRT.dll (which is needed by L"C:\\Program
Files\\Dassault Systemes\\B17\\intel_a\\code\\bin\\ITC_M33.dll") not found
and the following app log file:
"CORBARuntime_post
WARNING Get Domain Name Server failed
Registry Key S was not found
Environment variable IT_LOCAL_DOMAIN cannot be initialized in file c:\Program
Files\Dassault Systemes\B17\intel_a\startup\orbix\config\common.cfg"
but it completes. Presumably installing visual C++ 6 runtimes before
installing, by e.g. running "winetricks vcrun6", would
take care of some of the warnings.
The next step is entering in the license (see
http://www.catiastudent.com/support_student.htm for a walkthrough).
It looks like the tool they use to query the system for the
node id doesn't work, I'll file a bug for that next.

Summary: Problems typing on the address bar in Internet Explorer
6
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.42.
Platform: PC
URL: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=500798
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-gui
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: cassiel13(a)gmail.com
When IE6 is started, an "a" is shown instead of "about:blank" on the address
bar. Then, when I try to type any address, like www.winehq.com, there is a
tooltip just below the address bar with "Search ???????". One ? appears in the
tooltip every 2 letters written on the address bar. After pressing the enter
key, IE6 shows an error page with "Cannot find server" as the title. So it's
impossible to reach any site by typing the address because it gets screwed.
This issue is present since Wine v0.9.41. Version 0.9.40 doesn't have this
problem.
My system:
- Ubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04 32 bits.
- Wine 0.9.42 from wine.budgetdedicated.com.
- Internet Explorer 6.0 from IEs4linux.
BTW, I'm guessing the component.

I, too, am experiencing this bug on two different machines. Both have NVidia
cards (one AGP, one PCI-E) using different versions of the Nvidia driver. One
system is OpenSUSE 10.2 and the other is Fedora Core 6.
As the others have mentioned, it only seems to occur when zoning into an area
that's 'busy', such as a major city. Running WoW using OpenGL instead of D3d
seems to work ok, but not having the hardware cursor is horrible (mouse lags all
over the place).
Same error message as stated above. Has persisted from 0.9.39 to 0.9.42.

Since the program crashes everytime I try to download the database from

confirmed that the program crashes everytime when downloading the database from

We're all volunteers in one way or another... and I do appreciate the work and
time you put into making Troopmaster functional in Wine. As a scout leader,
having Troopmaster to help us keep track of the boys advancement from the time
they are a Tiger Cub Scout to Eagle Scout saves us time and the headache of all
the paperwork we are required to shuffle through to make sure the boys get what
they earned, and we're not payed to do any of this just like you're not payed to
fix the bugs in Wine. I'm just anxious to get the program working in Linux so I
can tell the rest of the scout leaders nationwide that it is working in Linux now.

happy happy joy joy. The installer suffers from z-order problems
(there are about three places where a dialog pops up but
is hidden, and you have to figure out to hit enter),
but the original roadblock is fixed now.
Thanks!
(This fix is not in 0.9.42 but should appear in 0.9.43, so I'm not closing yet.)

There is NO any MGS2 PC demo on official site or kojima production or some
game site either, i don't think what it exists at all. Are we really talking
about same "Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance" ?
please let's return to the problem: i have tested game with different
linux(32\64|RH\Deb\Slack based/Gentoo) distros and wine releases (0.9.10-42 or
even older ones) on different PCs: result is same.
so please - Confirm it and destroy it.

A couple things I've tried... Kubuntu updated Wine to 0.9.42 this morning... I
did try Austins suggestion... opened Troopmaster without downloading database
from dotnet. Then clicked on the youth members icon to bring up the list of
youth and the program closed on me. Troopmaster still hangs while using the new
Wine version which forces me to KILL the program. As for trying to get a
database from dotnet without using Troopmaster is beyond my knowledge.
I do appreciate all the help everyone is putting toward this bug. Thank you and
keep up the good work.

The app hangs, it doesn't crash. You can't do anything in the main window when
database from dotnet. Upload is fine. Again, not critical. I *think* that you
can work around it by downloading it, killing the app, and reloading again. It
seems to then use the database on your local hdd, which is the updated database
from dotnet. It should then upload fine. Not a pretty work around, but it does
seem to work.
Can you try that Tim? Like I said, not pretty/intuitive/permanent fix, but a
work around to help you until the bug can be solved. Also, please post in the
bug, and don't reply to the e-mail list.
>From e-mail:
Please put more/better details describing the severity of the bug in the
description. Especially adding a description for a "NORMAL" bug. One
more thing you should do is lock the "SEVERITY" selector once the bug
has been confirmed... which Austin said he has confirmed it.
Since the program crashes everytime I try to download the database from
DOTNET... according to your descriptors, this is a critical bug. Austin
has confirmed that the program crashes everytime when downloading the
database from DOTNET.
We're all volunteers in one way or another... and I do appreciate the
work and time you put into making Troopmaster functional in Wine. As a
scout leader, having Troopmaster to help us keep track of the boys
advancement from the time they are a Tiger Cub Scout to Eagle Scout
saves us time and the headache of all the paperwork we are required to
shuffle through to make sure the boys get what they earned, and we're
not payed to do any of this just like you're not payed to fix the bugs
in Wine. I'm just anxious to get the program working in Linux so I can
tell the rest of the scout leaders nationwide that it is working in
Linux now.
Thank you for your time and efforts,
Tim

One problem is Settlers are heavily using 16 bit bitmaps which means they have
ro be converted back and forth to 32 bint if your graphics card doesn't allow
16 bit.
I wonder, is there a way to force the game to use 32/24 bit bitmaps?

If I start the Installation of Sage Classic Line 2008 Workstation by "wine

err:rpc:I_RpcReceive we got fault packet with status 0x80004002
err:ole:ClientIdentity_QueryMultipleInterfaces IRemUnknown_RemQueryInterface

They are repeated ad nauseam, InstallShield Wizard seems to continue
ordinarily, until it shows a popup saying:
Das Setup-Programm hat keine Installation des Microsoft Internet Explorers 4.x
oder höher auf diesem Rechner gefunden.
Die Classic Line kann auf diesem Rechner nicht korrekt installiert werden.
Das Setup-Programm wird abgebrochen!
(Translation:
The setup programm hasn't found any installation of Microsoft Internet
Explorer 4.x or better.
The Classic Line cannot be installed correctly.
The setup programm will be aborted!)
After that SETUP.EXE still runs for some time, till it terminates.
"Faking" a IE installation using Dan Kegel's winetricks tool
(http://kegel.com/wine/winetricks ) helps to get rid of the IE error message,
however the OLE errors most probably mean installation went wrong anyway. If
there's anything else to test or you need another trace output, please let me
know. I have made the installation inside a Virtualbox (www.virtualbox.org)
image, which I can make available in case anybody else wishes to test this
himself. (Would native DCOM be probable to help?)
Output of WINEDEBUG=warn+all is attached, output of WINEDEBUG=+ole grew to
more than 1.3 GB, so I refrained from attaching it.

Error occurs when the application (Prognos 5; see appdb) scans the COM-port for
the hardware (and does not find it).
The hardware is connected via USB and shows up with driver cp2101 in dmesg. I've
linked com9 (in dosdevices) to /dev/ttyUSB0 (where dmesg told me the hardware is
attached to). I configured the application to use only COM9 for communication
with the hardware. The application itself tells me this error-message in a
dialog box: "SetCommState function failed (win error code: 21)"
I was told in the #winehq that the handling of this flag (EV_RXFLAG) is simply not
implemented yet.

Just to get discussion going, I posted a kludge patch,
http://winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2007-July/041918.html
that marks more windows managed, and made the z-order problem
in two installers go away. Alexandre replied in
See http://winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2007-July/058247.html
and said
"The proper way is to make windows managed
dynamically depending on the behavior of the app, i.e. detect that a
dialog is popped up behind a non-managed window and make the front
window managed at that point."

bug relating dualcore systems. On my own dual core system I tested this on win
and linux. It didn't work on both.
In Windows the splashscreen just disappeared after some minutes.
I've got that to work by disabling one core on win startup.
With wine, the splash just never go away. It gets somewhere in an endless loop.
With my (one core) Laptop, the game started without problems on with windows,
but fails in the same way with wine.
So there is really a wine bug.
You have to run the game with native dbghelp and msvcrt. Wait 2 minutes and then
the game starts.
In this two minutes, the only thing done by the program is to create the
options.cfg in home/Command and Conquer Generals Data.
Once this is done you don't need the dlloverrides anymore. And also on win you
can remove the one core use only option at startup.
For the ones where the game is working with wine, steps to reproduce:
update to 1.7
delete the options.cfg

Ok, great, but then i think the application will fail on windows too, if you'd
remove the registry key for Internet Explorer--> Version in windows. So the bug
report ,as is, is invalid. Maybe you could add the info how to get it running in
appdb for future users (if the app is in there). I'll close this bug for now.

Ok, after a bit more testing, i have an easier way to get at least that demo
running:
I removed ~/.wine, and created new .wine (with i.e. winecfg), _then_ set the
internet explorer registry key (so before installing the application) with the
script above, and then install the demo. Then it didn't crash for me anymore.
Maybe you could give this a shot.

Hi, I just had a look at the demo. It seems to crash in a similar way. Just
before the crash there's a call like:
0036:Call KERNEL32.GetPrivateProfileStringA(00e11554 "WinSize",017a6c78
"InfolineWnd",00c33d48 "",0034e8f4,00000064,01794cb0
"C:\\windows\\profiles\\All Users\\Application Data\\SPCS\\SPCS Administration
Demo\\AdmDemo.ini") ret=008c5fc3
which fails. I did a quick install of the app on windows , but that file wasn't
present/created at all. Mystery...
However, after I deleted ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/profiles/All Users/Application
Data/SPCS/SPCS Administration Demo/AdmDemo.ini the crash was gone...
Could you see if retail version behaves the same? So just delete
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/profiles/All Users/Application Data/SPCS/SPCS
Administration Demo/AdmDemo.ini, and report back please. Thx.

I'm sorry, but i have the savegame on my desktop at my parent's house.
However, I found out that you can reproduce it easily by repeatedly clicking
one of the cards really fast.
I tried a few times with 0.9.42 now, and it has improved to a point where it
doesn't happen during normal gameplay anymore (I think). If you use the method
I just described it will happen anyway though.
I'm gonna try with the savegame and upload it if it still "works" when I'm back
at my parent's (maybe this weekend).

I am now on version wine-0.9.39. A quick test of the same app. results in the
same behaviour as in 0.9.26, eg. everything works but no rendering in the 3d
window.

I don't know how to do that , sorry =(
Besides, I've done it from the cvs repository.
All in all that's the first patch that introduced that behaviour (I've checked
that the next one isn't applied).

You don't need to link to the patch. The final output of the git bisect is good
enough.

Summary: Prey : Fails to go past the start menu, freezes when the
mouse moves
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: azathothgr(a)gmail.com
Menu launches, but the menu animation runs VERY slowly (skipping many frames),
freezes for a considerable amount of time with each slight mouse movement, and
indefinitely with more pronounced movements. As a result, it is impossible to
actually use the menu or start the game.
This behaviour appears first with wine 0.9.36 and continues to 0.9.42.
I've tried to do a regression test following the guidelines, which pointed to
cvs patch :
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-cvs/2007-April/031889.html
(I'm sorry, I don't know how exactly to link to patches, I hope the link to the
archives is ok)
The same applies to Prey demo.

I've found that there is a setting in WoW that effects this problem. If you set
the option that says "Enable Sounds in Background" the problem does not occur.
This keeps the sound playing even when you switch away from the WoW screen. So
it seems that the problem only occurs when sound is stopped when switching away
from WoW, which only occurs with the new version of wine that behaves properly
when wine loses focus. So the actual sound problem may have existed forever, but
was masked because wine never knew it lost focus.
