You can download troopmaster from www.troopmaster.com . The DOTNET
feature allows the scoutmasters and their assistants to keep their data
on a server outside of their troop so that all the leaders can have
access to the database at any time.

Created an attachment (id=7158)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=7158&action=view)
example program
I have also had such a problem with one of the programs - it created a managed
child of an unmanaged window. The unmanaged window was on top and hiding it's
child so the program looked like it hanged. If someone is interested here is a
sample program (with source code) that does that. In this program, at least
under KDE, it's still possible to start the application, as the message box is
visible in the taskbar - it's possible to move it outside the splash screen. In
the app I had the dialog wasn't even listed in the taskbar.

Update: Some of the folks behind scons have expressed interest in tackling this
problem. The goal is that you can take a Visual Studio .dsp file, run it
through some sort of script, and then have an scons build system that works on
both Windows and Linux with Winelib. I'll create a wiki page for this and link
it here.

Well, to reproduce, you actually have to have a program crash with wine, but not
crash the debugger with program having dwarf symbols to make sure it's fixed.
For me to do it now, I can revert the patch I sent to mesa a while ago and
recompile it and crash it :)

ReportedBy: juan_lang(a)yahoo.com
I tried installing yahoo messenger. I downloaded it from the above URL and ran
it. It complains about the version of IE being bad, but there are two simple
workarounds:
1) In the dialog that appears, press No. (I don't know what the question is,
but Yes exits the install.)
2) Download winetricks and run 'winetricks fakeie6'.
After installing, it puts up a message box saying "Download of file has been
cancelled or interrupted. 404 Not Found". The dialog behind the message box
says it's downloading c:\windows\temp\4975648\flash_inst.exe. Looking in this
directory shows that it isn't there.

I'm not the original reporter, and was simply checking out the bug, as there
were a few open about qip. I couldn't get it to start originally, so was trying
to work around this bug to verify the others.
As for ntlm_auth, I'm not trying to argue, I was simply wanting to know what the
status of it was with wine, for future reference. As far as I can tell, this bug
is related to the ntlm_auth issue.

That's because you don't initialize LOGFONT except font name. If I do
just AddFontResource("etsans.fon"); and look at the font charset in enumed
font structs from EnumFontFamiliesEx I get SYMBOL_CHARSET.
It appears that explicit initialization of charset in LOGFONT to something
different from SYMBOL_CHARSET leads to the fact that gdi32 in Windows uses
that different charset for internal A<->W conversions.

We are not going to distribute ntlm_auth with Wine. It's part of the Samba
suite, and that's all I'm going to say about that.
However, it seems to me that you are talking about two different errors here.
One is QIP crashing because Wine doesn't load the NTLM provider whenn ntlm_auth
is missing, and the other seems to be that error pop-up.
Which one are we talking about rigth now? Please decide which one this bug is
about and open a new bug for for the other topic.

Yes, it's in winbind. However, for anyone using ubuntu, you'll need to upgrade
to feisty to install it, as version 3.0.25 depends on *a lot* of other packages,
and forcing those to install would've been a pain, possibly caused other issues.
Once it is installed, this new error is received:

Sorry, internal QIP error occured. If you know the reason of this error then

Didn't try installing native shdocvw as Louis suggest.
Is the goal for wine to eventually include support for ntlm_auth? Or just hope
that the user installs it independently (or once an app doesn't work).

Ghostbusters, and Ghouls and Ghosts. Ghostbusters II will load, and works fine
as far as I can tell (I have no idea what the controls are, so I occasionally
manage to do something other than get slimed). All are of about the same
graphical and sound quality; except G&G, which is more like a SNES game or 2D
PS1 game.
Warning: could not find DOS drive for current working directory
'/home/pike/GhoulsnGhosts', starting in the Windows directory.
wine: could not load L"c:\\windows\\system32\\game_windowed.exe": Module not found
This is the error message reported; it says the same thing for all three games.
These are low-requirement games, so I'm not sure what the issue is. It also
kicked the same message back when going into Winecfg to check the version, so
it's not the games themselves. All of them work fine on a WinXP machine.

Summary: Sacred: choppy video and sound; sprites cannot be seen.
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.41.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-ddraw
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: amlopezalonso(a)gmail.com
I installed Sacred: Edición de Oro (spanish edition of Sacred: Gold) and when
starting the game I notice this:
1) Since the very first time (main menu) the sound (music) and video get
choppy. I get a lot of:
fixme:ddraw:IDirectDrawImpl_WaitForVerticalBlank (0x1623a0)->(1,(nil)): Stub
these seem to be related to the choppy effects. Also, I disabled sound to no
avail.
2) Characters cannot be seen (both during the gameplay and in the character
selection menu), but other graphics do (pointer, game background, control
panel, etc.). Also, sound and movement remain choppy. There is a lot of:
fixme:d3d7:IDirect3DDeviceImpl_7_DrawIndexedPrimitiveStrided
(0x3790140)->(00000004,00000112,0x7d20eee0,000003f9,0x557fff0,00001038,00000000):
stub!
The first three values and the last one keep constant, the others change with
no evident pattern (to me).

I'm assuming you meant 'look near line 726', so I had a look. The specific
error is:
err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {13709620-c279-11ce-a49e-444553540000} not registered
Just because ole issued the err doesn't mean that the bug is in ole itself. The
error says that class {137...000} (Shell Automation Service,
Shell.Application.1, implemented in shell32.dll) is not registered; therefore,
the bug is that shell32.dll does not implement this interface.

Apparently, the registry steam is talking about is it's ClientRegistry.blob,
remove that just before you start the game and it works (only tried a few times
though).
I retried and I've figured it out now.
remove the clientregistry.blob file (not capitalized that way)
wineboot

Summary: Civilization II: Crashes when showing text input field
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.41.
Platform: PC

2.php
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

Component: wine-misc

ReportedBy: abel.stern(a)gmail.com
Civilization II crashes when showing any text input field, as when starting a
game (the game asks for a name for your ruler) or renaming a city.
The issue seems only to occur (according to APPDB) with the Multiplayer Gold
version of Civilization II, but I cannot confirm that as I do not possess the
standard edition.
To reproduce:
Start a game (Scenario or "New Game")
When the game should ask for a name, it crashes.

I think that solved it, since that error disappeared. Now it says that "Memory
could not be allocated for the activation process. Please close all applications
and try again." but that might be because I tried using those "Portable
photoshop" versions to skip installation. Will try again installing the real
Photoshop.
Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Trivial means cosmetic problems like misspelled words or misaligned text.
This is not what this is. This totally blows away any dialog between Chapters.

investigating further.
It still works fine when compiled in a 32-bit chroot, though.

I got the same bug at the exact same time and server [BT]BrothersTrust. Mine
also freezes and crashes at "retrieving server info." All the servers are now
doing the same thing. At random intervals I may actually be able to connect to a
server, but within 1 second, I am disconnected and receive the message
"Disconnect: Client timed out." I am able to host my own server without
crashing. But the tutorial function does not work. Deleting the HL2 .gcf files
solves the problem temporarily for me too, but requires too much time. I do not
have any such problems with other mods.
I am running Ubuntu Feisty with wine 0.9.41.

Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.41.
Platform: PC

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

I've been playing the half-life 2 mod "The Hidden" (beta 4) (url:
http://www.hidden-source.com/) for awhile and I haven't had any problems. Then
I tried joining a server ([BT]BrothersTrust :Hidden Source Beta4a) and The
Hidden would stop at "retrieving server info" and then the game would crash. I
am not sure if the problem is limited to that server. After this initial crash,
every subsequent attempt to join any server has resulted in the same exact crash.
We found a workaround which is to delete all the half life 2 .gcf files, but
this requires redownloading half life 2 and this takes a long time.
I am running Gentoo.
If any more info is needed I would gladly give it.

A native dinput.dll helped the problem, though it still exists to some extent.
Also, it doesn't seem to be quite a duplicate of the bugs you've mentioned
above, since they all describe behavior very far removed from what I am
experiencing. The only connection between the bugs being that they are with the
mouse.
At any rate, it is playable now, though hardly perfect, with the native dinput.dll.

> #1) I didn't "put" msvcr80.dll in system32, it was there. I provided ls of
that to show it was there after running a install once again of Quicken home and
Business 2007.
Makes no difference at all. The presence or lack-thereof of msvcr80.dll is not
the problem.
> #2)I admit that i have an extreme lack of knowledge on this subject, does that
mean you need to be rude and condescending?
Please quote anything I have said that is rude or condescending. I will also do
the same for what you have said:
"WINE SUCKS, AND YOU ARE AN ASS"
> #3) The link you attached about side by side assemblies is specific to
.NET Framework 3.0, Quicken H&B doesn't use .NET 3.0
You're once again demonstrating your lack of understanding of the subject.
Side-by-side assemblies and activation context support is implemented in the
operating system (starting with XP). These two items are used by .NET, which is
not the operating system. Regardless, loading msvcr80.dll requires sxs assembly
and actctx support. Quicken H&B requires msvcr80.dll, thus this bug is a
duplicate of bug 6591.
> #4) Is there another way get assistance with a legitimate issue a user of wine
is having? I don't consider posting my issue and reporting a problem as a bug as
"spamming" the list. I introduced myself as a noob, that does not mean you have
to gang up on me and basically leave me hanging
We helped you as much as anyone posting this bug would be helped. We correctly
marked this bug as a duplicate of bug 6591. From that point on, you either
contribute to the effort and find new information for bug 6591, implement sxs
assembly and actctx support in Wine, or wait till someone else does either one
of these things. Yes, stubbornly reopening this bug report because of your
ignorance to the issue is spamming the list. Trust me, you're annoying a lot of
people. No, no one ganged up on you. We monitored the bugzilla, one of the
many tasks available in the Wine project.
> #5) Please don't take time from your job to answer this. I'd rather you take
the time from somewhere else.
No, I think I will.
> #6) If you close the bug, I have to re-open it to post my question until I get
a satisfactory answer. If you don't know the answer to solving this, then,
leave it open until you do, or at least explain why you are closing this
If you reopen it, we'll have to close it. Satisfactory answer to what question?
The only possible questions you could have is why your bug exists, and why it
was marked a duplicate of bug 6591. Both of these questions have been answered
multiple times, much to the annoyance of the rest of the community.

Bill, you have absolutely no idea whether this is a separate bug or not. You're
not a Wine developer, which isn't to say that a non-Wine developer couldn't
understand why this isn't a separate bug, but you obviously don't, otherwise you
wouldn't be wasting our time and spamming the wine-bugs list by reopening this
bug. Wine has no support for activation contexts or side-by-side assemblies,
and that is the bug...period. We've been dealing with this exact same issue for
more than a year now. Did you even read that msdn page? It really doesn't
matter what you think of Vitaliy, the fact is he was right in marking this bug a
duplicate, and now, I'm taking time out of my job to mark this as duplicate again.

Bill, your lack of knowledge concerning this subject is very evident. So you
say you can read, then read [1] because I don't care to explain to you why
putting msvcr80.dll in system32 won't help anything. Also, this bug is still an
exact duplicate, and reopening this bug isn't going to do anything. Please take
your immaturity elsewhere. Thanks.

How do I get msvcr80.dll and where do I place it? Do I need to register
something after? Thank you all for any useful input.

Check. WINEDEBUG=+resource or +imagelist gives me the same resource (tons) or
imagelist (about 20 lines) output, but +toolbar gives nothing but the normal
startup/fixme messages.
> This could mean that the application uses a custom control
That would seem likely, especially since most of Audition's widget set looks
like a custom/nonstandard one. If that's the case, the same one is probably used
in other Adobe programs - i can't confirm this because i don't have or use any.

Summary: Call of Duty -> Jerky mouse / freelook problem
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.41.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-programs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: brian(a)brianvuyk.com
I've been trying to get Call of Duty 1, with the 1.5 patch installed and running
well. I was able to get it installed without any major problems; however, when
playing, the mouse is rather jerky. The framerate stays at a constant 70FPS
without any drops.
When freelooking around, other models / entities in the game continue to move
slowly; just the mouse is jerky. Audio remains great as well.
Let me know if there is any better debug info I can include to help.

I ran across this issue in the Direct3D options in graphics. Some combinations
of Vertex Shader Support (hardware, none) and enabling/disabling pixel shader
causes the game to look like your screenshots. The the case of pixel shader you
might not have the appropriate hardware.

I think you're on to something with the timestamp.
Tar was also throwing up a bunch of warnings about files in the archive being
from the future, and it wouldn't surprise me if this somehow confused configure.
The source of the problem was vmware - when you suspend a virtual machine, some
strange things can happen to the system time unless you enable a certain option
to keep it in sync.
I reset the system clock on the VM and rebuilt the package, and all appears to
be normal. Closing bug.

As the bug doesn't show itself always on the same moment, I may have marked good

That is, I encoded the same DVD again and again at each revision tested, with a

restarted all the work each time.

with OffscreenRenderingMode set to pbuffer I get only the missing ground
texture. with backbuffer, I get the giant ugly thing in the sky and the missing
ground texture. With fbo, everything is black, and at an unplayable fps.
What's interesting to note, that I discovered while using pbuffer, is that when
the blurry vision starts (from "shellshock") everything is fine, the ground
textures are there, the mountains and sky are clearly visible and normal,
everything looks perfect, except for the blurry vision and ringing ears :) Once
the effect fades away, it all goes back to the way it was before, with no ground
texture.
this is all on wine 0.9.40 though.

WINEDEBUG doesn't have anything to do with a debugger. You're not running the
wine debugger (you'd need to run 'winedbg HP.exe' instead of 'wine HP.exe' to do
that.) It's inferring there's a debugger some other way.

Not sure how ntlm_auth should be installed. I have samba installed, as well as
libntlm0 and libntlm0-dev (this is under wine 0.9.41, ubuntu feisty). I also
tried your suggestion in comment 8, but that did not work.
I'll attach a +ntlm trace is a minute.
