Marcello, this isn't a bug in Wine that we can do anything about. Your distro
is not set up properly/cups isn't configured properly. If you want help, ask on
wine-users(a)winehq.org. Please stop posting in this bug report (it's invalid).

Summary: HTTRANSPARENT is ignored
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.40.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-user
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dmda(a)yandex.ru
When user clicks on a window, Windows first sends WM_NCHITTEST and checks the
result. If the result is HTTRANSPARENT, it sends check first underlying window
in Z-order that is not HTTRANSPARENT and sends mouse click to it/activates it.
Wine ignores this and click goes to the window that responded with
HTTRANSPARENT.
It breaks functionality of Tooltip / hint windows that are not supposed to
handle clicks but route them to the underlying window.

Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.40.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-user
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dmda(a)yandex.ru
Under windows if you click on a window with WS_DISABLED set, it won't be
activated. This way all Delphi applications are handling ShowModal(), keeping
all underlying windows disabled.
With Wine click on disabled window still activates it and current modal window
goes back in Z-order.
FYI, to set WS_DISABLED, application calls EnableWindow(Wnd, 0)

OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-user
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dmda(a)yandex.ru
Some applications show their splash during startup and such windows are the
same as normal windows, except their caption is hidden.
When such application starts under Wine and shows an error box, the error box
will appear below the splash window.
The same goes for the window where Wine asks to install Gecko. It happens in
response to application's attempt to initialize embedded IE browser.
I could replicate the problem with a splash created with Style = 0x86000000
and ExStyle=0x10000

That regression was almost certainly introduced by commit
17ba74195bec3d384539249a4bf7de659121041e:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-cvs/2007-July/033999.html
I'm not sure why this commit passes a transform to msi_table_load_transforms
rather than a name, since only transform->name is used.

this is not a duplicate... This report is about one bug only.

Two separate bugs exposed by one patch, I think. The MsgWait... line in
SysKeyboardAImpl_GetDeviceState mentioned in bug 8854 isn't needed and does not
help this game, but reverting the _Poll part helps.
An alternate hack that also helps is inserting the MsgWaitForMultipleObjects
line in winmm:timeGetTime(). The game thread seems to spend its time rendering
and doing timeGetTime calls, little else.

If someone wants to test, this patch worked for me to run a Win16 program with
noexec protection. The code in global16.c/local16.c is supposed to be correct,
while adding execute permissions to DOS area is not what Windows XP does. I
added it because winedos/himem.c puts some 16-bit PM code in UMB. I'll need to

Vivek wrote me to say:
the error i used to get in wine is
solved !!!! YIPPPEEEE !! dont know what the issue was,
but it was like, in Visual Basic, we used to declare a
variable in a module and and then later define the
value of the variable at run time. this worked
perfectly fine for all other variables except the
class module variable, no idea as to why. so, what i
did was, rather than declaring the variable in the
class module, i did it at run time, n it just worked
!!
this is what was before :-
private err as CApplog1
this was done during the declaration of all variables,
where CApplog1 is my class module
and then at run time
set err as new CApplog1
this was where it was giving me the error
so, i replaced the above 2 lines with this one
dim err as new capplog1
and it simply worked. i know its a bull-shit thing
that m talking n such a thing is not possible, but
then, fact is, it works when i run it under windows,
but gives an error in wine.

Summary: X-Wing Alliance: keyboard and mouse input does not work
in hangar screen since 0.9.29
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: PC
URL: http://remote.newswall.org.uk/swgamer/files/demos/xwadem
o.exe
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-dinput
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: knan-wine(a)anduin.net
Keyboard and mouse input does not work at all in hangar screen since 0.9.29, so
missions can not be started. This makes the game unplayable. The downloadable
demo also shows the bug.
Reverting commit b22ff8018aca7c365e505f1db7732f7050ae259b ("dinput: Remove
MsgWaitForMultipleObjects calls.") works around it. More specifically, the
specialized poll function.
It can't actually be called a dinput bug, since running with native dinput gives
me exactly the same behaviour as in unpatched wine. So the actual problem must
be somewhere else.
Have tested semi-blindly with these native dlls, one at a time, without locating
any suspects: advapi32, comctl32/commctrl, shell32, ole32, rpcrt4, dsound, imm32.
I'm really not sure how to proceed in debugging this, looking for guidance.
Looks related to bug 7640.

Installing dcom98 gets around the crash and allows the game to install. I did

I tried a couple obvious simpleminded things:
1) call XRaiseWindow when first creating the window
2) in X11DRV_set_wm_hints(), use the _NET_WM_STATE_MODAL hint; see
http://standards.freedesktop.org/wm-spec/1.3/ar01s05.html
but Photoshop CS tryout installer still puts the "Please close all Adobe apps..."
dialog under the wizard when you click 'ok';
maybe I did 'em wrong. I'll attach a patch showing what I tried.

I haven't found which part of the app this hurts yet,

What's about TTL approach?
Say we have read a directory to lookup for a file. Next time we can check if
the cache is not dirty by applyting TTL logic. If TTL is not expired, we can
use cache, otherwise it's necessary to refill.
Say with 2 seconds TTL, I'd expect great performance increase. As a bonus, we
would not need to keep coherency at all. Nothing wrong if one process has
created a file and another process doesn't see this for 2 seconds. The same is
for file deletion/rename operations. The only thing needed is critical section
that will isolate concurent access from different threads.

Richedit is not a system component? But it's shipped with Windows starting from
Windows 95, it's used by hundreds of application, we have nearly 450kB of code
for it, a Bugzilla component and an application based on it. What is missing to
treat it as a system component (and bugs in it more seriously)?

But trivial is described as "cosmetic problem like misspelled words or
misaligned text". This bug causes an app crash, I believe it deserves at least a
minor severity, where "an easy workaround is present".
By the way, app works with native riched dlls.

Summary: Run Time Error "445": Object doesn't support this action
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.40.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-ole
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: davea42(a)earthlink.net
To reproduce the bug
Run Time Error "445": Object doesn't support this action
go to:
http://lotus-europa.com/downloads
and then click on the download link (which looks like this)
Download ekb31.exe (59MB, mostly a 'starting' database).
Install by running
wine ekb31.exe
This app is free, written by a friend, and installs ok in wine.
You have to cd to the programs directory and run wine there as
that is where the starting database is. The app will not fully start when
the object message arises. [There is no need to click on
anything, the app never really does much before the error is reported].
Once the error is reported all one can do is click ok on
the bug and the app dies.
You will need VBAJET32.dll
"The JETVBA file (VBAJET.dll for 16-bit versions, or VBAJET32.dll
for 32-bit versions) failed to initialize when called. Try reinstalling
the application that returned the error." (and after that an error
'91').
I googled VBAJET.dll and found
http://www.nvtech.com/support/
patches and upgrades page
which had a version of that dll to download/install.
(wine VBAJET32.exe to do the install)
To run the knowledgebase, do
cd "~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Europa Knowledgebase"
wine EuropaKB.exe
When you first run the knowledgebase it will ask to do an install
of something like gecko. Click yes.
Then you will get the error report on the "445" error. On that
and every subsequent run of the knowledgebase.
The following rudely changed function:
static HRESULT WINAPI WebBrowser_put_RegisterAsBrowser(IWebBrowser2 *iface,
VARIANT_BOOL bRegister)
{
WebBrowser *This = WEBBROWSER_THIS(iface);
FIXME("(%p)->(%x)\n", This, bRegister);
return S_OK; /* My rude addition */
/* return E_NOTIMPL; */
}
in wine/dlls/shdocvw/webbrowser.c
works around the problem.
For my adventures running this app, see my web site:
http://reality.sgiweb.org/davea/wine.html
I believe you won't need the font exe files mentioned
on my web page to reproduce the problem.
I've reproduced this on both Fedora Core 6 and Ubuntu 6.06.
Using 0.9.40 I built myself today. (and many earlier versions too,
this is not a new bug). See my web site wine.html page for
more details on the history.

Summary: Modal dialog hidden behind installer makes Photoshop CS
installer appear to hang
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
URL: http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/magic/photoshop/win/
8.x/AdobePhotoshopCS.zip
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Keywords: download, Installer
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
The Photoshop CS tryout installer puts up its initial screen
with the usual wizard window with 'ok' and 'cancel'.
When you click 'ok', it then puts up a modal dialog saying
"To avoid restarting your system after installation,
please close all Adobe applications before proceeding."
But this modal dialog is *behind* the main installer
window, which cannot be moved once you click ok.
You have to move the window *before* clicking ok
to see the modal dialog.
This is rather a showstopper for the average user who doesn't
ready howtos.

This is my first submit of a bug i tryed to make the most clear i can sorry if
this is not well done.
I've tryed to follow the debugging procedure as much as i could.
After i understood how to redo the crach i launched Guild wars with +relay (see
attachement) and made a perl prog to find in sources code the function that 'I
think' makes the crach. i got 2 possiblities :
*File: .../wine-0.9.40-src/dlls/winex11.drv/event.c
Sentence line[277]: DWORD X11DRV_MsgWaitForMultipleObjectsEx( DWORD count, const
HANDLE *handles,
*File: ../wine-0.9.40-src/dlls/winex11.drv/keyboard.c
Sentence line[1830]: X11DRV_MsgWaitForMultipleObjectsEx( 0, NULL, 0, QS_KEY
| QS_MOUSE, 0 );
But i'm not surch this is the real origin, if it can help you got the files and
lines.
Best regards.

will not terminate when one of the commands fails whereas under windows, an &&
chain ends if any of the external commands returns a non-zero return code.
I had a patch to fix this, but its not right so I need to recode it. (Un)
fortunately my holiday got in the way, but now I am back hopefully I can get

Maybe it has something to do with the version of some related package used by

BTW, what Desktop evn are you using? Im using Gnome (grasping at straws here).
Also, it would be very helpful is eg Tony (stating it works for him) would give

described in the bug report.

Circuit Design Suite is a SPICE simulator from National Instruments. You can
download a demo of the latest version from
ftp://ftp.ni.com/support/circuitdesignsuite. Presently, the current version is
in the 10.0.1 folder.
Reproduce:
1. Download one of the files from the above folder, for example
ftp://ftp.ni.com/support/circuitdesignsuite/10.0.1/NI_Circuit_Design_Suite_…
2. Run the file with wine. This is a self-extracting zip which contains the
installer.
3. Locate in the extracted folder, and run setup.exe. This is an MSI installer
4. The installer starts, but then ends with the message Fatal Error: Unhandled
MSI error

I'm installing the Nokia PC Suite program in my Kubuntu Linux 7.0.4, the program
runs normally ... until the step 4:

Installs in wine 0.9.40 after complaining about internet explorer and flash not
being present (didn't require fakeie6 registry entry though). Once it tries to
launch the program, this error occurs:
err:seh:setup_exception stack overflow 12 bytes in thread 0027 eip 7b88ca99 esp
00240ff4 stack 0x241000-0x350000
But it does get a lot further than before.
