How about 32-bit gcc and libc? Wine can only work as 32-bit app (if you want it
to run windows apps).

Summary: configure didn't work on AMD64

Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: blocker

Component: test
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jimah45abmw(a)hotmail.com
I downloaded the source of wine-0.9.39.tar.bz2. Did the "./configure" but it
returned an error. I could do it by "linux32 ./configure", and also did
"./configure" in an i386 OS.
My system:
Linux Kernel: 2.6.20-16-generic
GCC Version: 4.1.2 (x86_64-linux-gnu)
OS: Ubuntu 7.04 feisty AMD64
By the way, I downloaded "wine_0.9.37~winehq0~ubuntu~7.04-1_amd64.deb", and
installed well. But it didn't have language support, I needed to compile it from
source in order to have language localization.

I can confirm this bug. I just now downloaded and tested with 0.9.39:
wine: Call from 0x7ee3e200 to unimplemented function hal.dll.HalGetBusData, aborting
wine: Unimplemented function hal.dll.HalGetBusData called at address 0x7ee3e200
(thread 000f), starting debugger...
Unhandled exception: unimplemented function hal.dll.HalGetBusData called in
32-bit code (0x7ee3e278).
I can also confirm Verbeet's workaround does work. After setting the Win
version to 98, I can play the first five or six demos. After that, my screen
goes black, but I have a lot of testing to do before I can say it's a Wine bug
(I suspect Beryl, because X completely restarted on me on one try).

It did black out the screen while installing.

Until cancelled with 'wineserver -k'. (I ran it for around 45 minutes while
running errands).
This is the complete log. I'll file a seperate bug for it failing to run.

The drop down menus work fine however, browsing scenery and plane models works

Tried to install DNS9 with wine 0.9.39
I tried the install this morning from the official Gutsy repository version.
(My earlier tries were with the Winehq Feisty version, and then one I compiled
myself.)
The official version does not install DNS9 at all. There seems to have been a
regression.

Everest Poker is an online poker room. When trying to running it, wine crashes
because of "pdh.dll.PdhOpenQueryW" function. (attachment #1)
Attachment #2 is the output for : WINEDEBUG=+tid,+seh wine Everest\ Poker.exe &>
/tmp/relay.log. Addind the +relay option generates another error : the program
asks to reinstall.
One solution to log in was found by Marco Sousa and implies using ies4linux :
cd ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Everest\ Poker/
WINEPREFIX=~/.ies4linux/ie6/ wine Everest\ Poker.exe
but once you try to open a table, the main window disappears and nothing
happens. (attachment #3)
The fourth attachment is the output for : WINEDEBUG=+tid,+seh
WINEPREFIX=~/.ies4linux/ie6/ wine Everest\ Poker.exe &> /tmp/relay.log
Hope this will help.

Can confirm that this is also happening in Arch, whether as a pre-built package,
or when building/compiling my own package via ABS. Happens on at least both
0.9.38 and 0.9.39 (not sure when it started). Goes straight to 100% CPU usage as
soon as EAC tries to download track/artist info from freedb. No visible errors
on the command line. Will give a bit of regression testing a go but due to time
issues it might have to wait until the weekend.
Cheers,

Summary: Unhandled exception - possible regression bug

Version: 0.9.39.
Platform: PC

Component: wine-opengl
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: liquid.acid(a)gmx.net
Hi wine developer team,
yesterday I updated from wine 0.9.38 to 0.93.9, leading to an 'unhandled
exception' bug when starting counter-strike 1.5. Reverting back to 0.9.38 solved
the problem.
uname -a:
Linux leena 2.6.20-gentoo-r8 #6 PREEMPT Sat Jun 9 17:12:27 CEST 2007 i686
Intel(R) Celeron(R) M processor 1.50GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
Building wine was done from the normal portage ebuild. I checked the problem
twice with 0.9.39 and also rebooted the system, but that didn't work. Logs will
be attached.
I suspect this to be OpenGL/X-related, because the app aborts when switching
resolution. But I'm not really sure about that.
Thanks,
Tobias

This is probably unrelated, but: That heap error looks worrisome.
The single-player demo's installer has something similar:
err:heap:HEAP_ValidateInUseArena Heap 0x110000: in-use arena 0xa39fe0 next block
has PREV_FREE flag
BTW the single player demo seems to run fine, though it takes an awful
long time to "initialize msi". You can download the swat 4 single player demo
straight from sierra:

32 bit low level drivers now use a Unicode interface (used to be ANSI):
- Send the *_GETDEVCAPS messages in unicode format from the
*GetDevCapsW function and call the *GetDevCapsW from their respective
Ansi versions.
- Modify all low level drivers to correctly process the *_GETDEVCAPS
messages as unicode.
- *_GETDEVCAPS messages are now mapped from/to unicode for 16 bit code.
- Removed all SoundBlaster naming oldies.
Better use of some unicode functions (instead of Ansi) in winmm.

This is similar to Bug 6943 in that it causes the same issue, but James seems
adamant that that is fixed so this must be a different issue. Fails on the same
file but with different errors in the terminal and a different error issued by
InstallShield itself.
Attaching entire console output and screenshot just for completeness.

Hi,
No, it is not a problem anymore.
Indeed it was a problem with a wrong locale. I set the environmental variable
LANG in .profile to Polish and Polish fonts and characters appeared at once.
It took me 3 years to solve and I did not find any references to this in Wine
documentation. Maybe it would be good to add it, so people do not waste so
much time as me.
Happy Wine user,
Oliwer

When did this happen? We had a bug like that, but it should have been fixed
some time ago.

Not much to say here. I uninstalled 3DMark06 and all menu and desktop shortcuts
remained. I had to remove them manually.

Most likely the problem is caused by using wrong (non-chinese) locale.

Because this bug really looks like a multithreaded d3d bug 3615.

I see this bug on a 64-bit Ubuntu box with an SMP kernel, but don't see it
on an older box with FC4 (non-SMP). Does anyone with the bug have an SMP
kernel as well? If yes, that might shed some light...

We need to figure out which APIs need to be fixed:
msvcrt one (findfirst/next), kernel32 (FindFirstFile), or ntdll backends used
by kernel32.
