Ha! I know what is going on.
Wine (by default?) assigns D: as /media/dvd, so when I list this directory I
see symlink to /dev/sr0 (device which is mounted in /media/dvd). But it can
collide when using winecfg.
Steps to reproduce:
a) no CD mounted, run winecfg, no drive D:, list dosdevices, there IS symlink
for D
b) mount CD
c) run winecfg -> there is D:
d) unmount CD, run winecfg -> D: is gone, list dosdevices D: is NOT gone
e) a month later
h) mount iso file to some point, run winecfg, add new drive, winecfg will
suggest... D: drive, accept, close winecfg
g) list dosdevices, now, there are two drives D:
h) unmount iso file, winecfg -- one drive D: for the last mounting point
i) list dosdevices, still two D:
j) month later
k) mount CD as in (b)
l) winecfg, quit winecfg
m) unmount CD
Voila. The k-m steps erased previous settings, erased doubled D: drives, and
wine does not even remember there was something like iso-file mounted.
n) run winecfg --> no drive D:

Seems like you are talking about the same thing here as your other bug 8665.
However provide more clear explanation to what exactly are you doing, what
doesn't work and how you think it should work? With examples please.

If your drive_e is a symlink to the mount point then it shouldn't fail. You need
to provide more details on exactly what you are doing and what doesn't work as

Pierre: No, the patch (v2, didnŽt try the first one) doesnŽt do any noticeable
difference. A good application to test this bug with is probably Famitracker,
as it suffers a lot from this bug, and it is licensed under GPL, if you want to
do some more testing.

Exactly, so I would like to set

but very often wine is resolving is as
/media/external_drive
as since it is no letter drive assigned to this it fails. Why not let user
stick to the directory she/he sees.

I've downgraded to v0.9.37, and erased the old .wine directory.
Then I've launched winecfg to recreate the directory. Three minutes have now
passed and the .wine directory has not been created fully, yet!
I have no idea about what's wrong.

It's not enhancement, it's a bug. When you create this empty directory, look in
~/.wine/dosdevices Do you have d:->/mount/dir there? How about d:: ?
Simple way to reproduce:
1. Inset a CD-ROM and unmount it.
2. Run winecfg and add a drive (doesn't matter where it points to).
3. Restart winecfg - drive gone.
To understand what's going on - do 'ls -la ~/.wine/dosdevices/' after step 2).

Odd bug in Dev-C++ version 4.9.9.2 (Delphi app, open-source).
Open or create a project with 1 or more files.
Now collapse the project treeview in the "Project" tab, right-click the project
and go to "Project Options", click "Ok" to close the dialog that comes up, and
the files in the project appear one additional time in the treeview. So the
first time you do this you could have
Project
|-A
|-B
The second time you do this you'd have:
Project
|-A
|-B
|-A
|-B
The effects are cumulative, the third time:
Project
|-A
|-B
|-A
|-B
|-A
|-B
If you open the "Project Options" with the treeview expanded instead of
collapsed, the items appear normally.
While I'm not a Delphi expert I do believe the bug is caused by this snippet of
code in project.pas (since the other places where the code is called from can
also be made to manifest the bug):
procedure TProject.RebuildNodes;
var
idx: integer;
oldPaths: TStrings;
tempnode: TTreeNode;
begin
MainForm.ProjectView.Items.BeginUpdate;
//remember if folder nodes were expanded or collapsed
//create a list of expanded folder nodes
oldPaths := TStringList.Create;
with MainForm.ProjectView do
for idx := 0 to Items.Count -1 do
begin
tempnode := Items[idx];
if tempnode.Expanded AND (tempnode.Data=Pointer(-1)) then
//data=pointer(-1) - it's folder
oldPaths.Add(GetFolderPath(tempnode));
end;
fNode.DeleteChildren;
CreateFolderNodes;
{
for idx:=0 to pred(fFolders.Count) do
MakeNewFileNode(fFolders[idx], True).Data:=Pointer(-1);}
for idx:= 0 to pred(fUnits.Count) do
begin
fUnits[idx].Node:= MakeNewFileNode(ExtractFileName(fUnits[idx].FileName),
False, FolderNodeFromName(fUnits[idx].Folder));
fUnits[idx].Node.Data:= pointer(idx);
end;
for idx:=0 to pred(fFolders.Count) do
TTreeNode(fFolderNodes[idx]).AlphaSort(False);
Node.AlphaSort(False);
//expand nodes expanded before recreating the project tree
fNode.Collapse(True);
with MainForm.ProjectView do
for idx := 0 to Items.Count -1 do
begin
tempnode := Items[idx];
if (tempnode.Data=Pointer(-1)) then //it's a folder
if oldPaths.IndexOf(GetFolderPath(tempnode)) >= 0 then
tempnode.Expand(False);
end;
FreeAndNil(oldPaths);
fNode.Expand(False);
MainForm.ProjectView.Items.EndUpdate;
end;
A +treeview trace (attached next) is not very revealing to me. The interesting
part is between GetCount returning 2 and 3.

I think the installer tries to open a new window but somehow fails. You can
bypass this with just hit enter where the installer proceeds.

Just to be clear, as of current Git, some games WILL look dark. This is because
sRGB texture linerization is now supported. Until we implement
WINED3DRS_SRGBWRITEENABLE (coming soon don't worry), some textures will
be dark because they have been properly converted to RGB before entering the
graphics pipeline.
For now, run regedit and try changing to ARB shaders (or turn up your monitor
gamma). If that doesn't work (because the game checks for the feature anyway), try
using the latest non-git version of wine.
D3D is still under development and some games will use the feature now it's
available. The fix will come when the additional functionality mentioned above is
available.

I noticed some things:
{B9C2E9C4-68C1-4D42-A7A1-E76A26982AD6} seems to be the object that is missing
and fails to register "DirectPlay NAT Helper UPnP Object"
wine currently only has a stub for DirectPlay NAT Helper PAST Object
{963AB779-16A1-477C-A36D-CB5E711938F7}
I tried to make dpnhupnp copy from that. But it didn't change anything :( I
noticed that both NAT helpers arn't listed in the wine registry but they show up
on windows.

http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2007-June/040169.html
Can you give it a try and report whether it helps?

I am not 100% sure the latest GIT fixes the bug. If you're using the latest
GIT, please run the following test:
* Check with UDP port emule is using (make sure it's not set to use random
ports and confirm with netstat)
* Take the program that sends a bad UDP packet and change
0xD, 5, /* destination port = 3333 */
to the port in use (2 high order, then 2 low order hexidecimal digits prefixed
with 0x)
* Compile and run the program on a different Linux box
* See if emule breaks

Problem isolated.
Steps to simulate the same kind of error log:
log in with username
in the command line type
tell %username% :)
where %username% is the username you used to log in.
What was happening is that someone would shout a message with an 'emoticon' -
this causes the main type of crash in the error logs here.
SOLUTION:
To stop BabasChess from crashing, in the manner initially stated, go to
file--preferences, click console tab, and uncheck 'use emoticons'.
Actually, it says to do this on
http://www.babaschess.net/support.asp?#Q_linux
I should have read this before sending so many additional comments.

No, that's just supporting lazy software development. Wine should be able to
build with old versions of required libraries, and the proper checks should be
in place to allow this.

I find that somewhat hard to believe, since all that patch did was add a method
to IWineD3DDevice. It isn't even being used yet at that point.
Looking at the backtrace though, it appears that DrawPrimitive is being called
without a valid stream source set for stream 0.

This is not a problem with Wine. We don't control the packaging done by Debian
and budgetdedicated.com. It looks like the problem is easy enough to resolve.
Just uninstall all Debian Wine packages before installing the budgetdedicated one.

If I move the same directory in the NTFS to an Ext3 partition, eMule Plus does
work, in fact, they do provide an "binary" download, so you can run eMule Plus
without the need of installer (basically they installer just make the icons for
the copy of the "binary" download), so I don't think it's an issue with
system/program files dependences or something like that.
You can just copy in windows the eMule Plus directory from PC 1 to PC 2, without
having installed eMule Plus before in PC2.
Lei Zhang, I think you should reconsider your current resolution.

This is not how Wine works. You can't just run arbitrary apps off a NTFS

There was the problem!.
>From Kubuntu installation, your machine get named "user-something".
>From KNetNetwork Manager I did change 'Machine Name' from "vlad-auroserver1" to
just "auroserver1", but in /etc/host there's not relative change:
---------------------------------
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.1.1 vlad-auroserver1
---------------------------------
There, "vlad-auroserver1" remains instead just "auroserver1".
Changing either "127.0.1.1 vlad-auroserver1" to "127.0.1.1 auroserver1" or
machine name from "auroserver1" to "vlad-auroserver1" makes the program "work"
(at least that "error" is solved).
Now, two things:
1) I think this is not a Wine issue after your patch.I though changing Machine
Name should do Global change, but maybe there's is a reason for it.
2) Now there's another bug (relative to Winsock and this same program). Now I
have an "warn:winsock:wsaErrno errno 22, (Invalid Argument)." after
"trace:winsock:WS_connect socket 00dc, ptr 0x34f480 { family 2, address
208.109.235.57, port 80 }, length 16"
I'll attach the current +winsock log. Thanks again Damjan Jovanovic, you were
accurate as usual :)

Thanks for solving this! I will try your solution tomorrow. in the meantime I
think that 'wine setup.exe' won't work because Linux won't unmount a directory
where you have 'cd' into.This probably will make disk swapping impossible
therefor I think wine explorer d:\\ is the only option.

This is INVALID for sure...
use wine setup.exe
OR
wine explorer d:\\
to make it work
same error happens on Windows too if app is being
run(from console) from different directory where the main exe is.

I can confirm that I am seeing this bug without a Logitech mouse. I have a
Kensington PilotMouse Optical and when I move the mouse slowly over buttons, the
game doesn't notice the updated position. I have to move the mouse quickly off
the button and back on.
I have seen this in both 0.9.37 and 0.9.38. I am running Debian lenny and
starting WoW in OpenGL mode. Everything else seems to work perfectly.

OK now I get it...
I am "quite sure" this is INVALID.
when being runned like wine setup.exe the key stuff works.
when using wine "d:\setup.exe" it works but _ONLY_
if command is being run in same directory where the setup.exe so I am betting
this as INVALID bug.

Summary: Dreamweaver 2 trial aborts on startup
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
I found a copy of "Dreamweaver 2 Bible" with demo at op-amp technical books
(my favorite neighborhood haunt :-) for $4. How could I pass it up?
The installer crashed reliably with the nasty BadPixmap error,
so I had to apply the patch
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2007-April/055637.html
to get the installer to complete.
It then installed fine, but on startup, right after the "Try or Buy?"
question, it crashes. Here's a bit of +seh,+relay:
000e:Call KERNEL32.GetShortPathNameA(7d0ef954 "C:\\Program
Files\\Macromedia\\Dreamweaver 2\\Dreamweaver.dl_",7d0ef83c,00000104) ret=0040519c

I then tried running the inner app directly:
ln -s Dreamweaver.dl_ d.exe
wine d.exe
This gave a bit more info. It seems to be a crash inside the
app during an MFC callback.

Crud. Now that this patch is in cvs, wine doesn't build for me on dapper:
midi.c: In function ‘ALSA_MidiInit’:
midi.c:1259: error: ‘SND_SEQ_PORT_TYPE_PORT’ undeclared (first use in this function)
And yes, I have libasound2-dev installed:
ii libasound2 1.0.10-2ubuntu ALSA library
ii libasound2-dev 1.0.10-2ubuntu ALSA library development files
I think that constant was added in alsa 1.0.12.
Somebody needs to add some #ifdef magic here...

>if ( pIB == NULL ) return WINED3D_OK;
I think that setting this (#4533 of device.c)line to
"if (pIB == 0) return WINED3DERR_INVALIDCALL;'
is more reasonable, since Direct3D isn't supposed to draw indexed primitives
without IndexBuffer set. In this case Thief 3 will work anyway...
With GLSL enabled game looks fine. Text disappears only from buttons, and
tutorials are readable.
Shall I add "patch" keyword or mail to wine-devel with this?

So Hans are you able to reproduce "incorrect command line parameters" because I
am not? I just get a nice dialog after LaunchConditions telling me that the
installer didn't find .NET 2.0, and I have to install it, and then another
dialog where I can gracefully exit the installer until I install .NET 2.0
