A patch to wine's testsuite, it fails in wine but not in windows
After some checking I found out why msn fails to sign in, it's a bug in
advapi32's crypt.
Basically it's not illegal to call it there with CRYPT_VERIFYCONTEXT and
CRYPT_NEWKEYSET at same time, as long as second parameter is NULL.
This test verifies it.

That error message says
'The Aladdin HASP SL Runtime protecting module "C\Program Files\..."

That means this is a copy protection issue, and might be tricky to fix.

Matt, although this bug is marked as DUPLICATE,
you should probably try running Resistance v1.96

Make sure you have the very latest wine-version (in your bugreport it says
wine-0.9.37, and there are some new fixes in wine-0.9.38 and current git)
>Could you actually play the demo?
Yes, allthough i only played for 5 seconds ;) Menu's and start of the game
worked at least.
>Can you share your terminal output?
I'll have to reinstall the game then, i'll do that. In meanwhile it's best if
you try the demo as well, and see if you run into the same trouble. If the demo
doesn't run for you too, there must be something wrong with your
wine-setup/graphics drivers

The particular error the original parent referred to no longer exists (loader
builds with --enable-win64).
'Make depend' and 'make' also work (as long as you don't have libicu36-dev
installed). I see that the 'make install' will choke (not having Dmitry's
hacks), now that I test it:
make[2]: Entering directory `/home/evil/src/wine/dlls/oleaut32'

make[1]: *** [oleaut32/__install-lib__] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/evil/src/wine/dlls'
make: *** [dlls/__install-lib__] Error 2
I haven't tried hacking around that check/#error.
So, I guess the original poster's bug title is still actually true... even if
the reasons have completely changed.

I totally agree. I should have been more explicit in my post. I only needed to
have the software running for now. This was a temporary stopgap. I realize as
soon as the Ubuntu repos go to 0.9.35, it will break. I had opened a bug report
with Ubuntu as well and was told to stick to their repositories to avoid
trouble. I need to tell them that when they do update wine, that it has to be
to whatever version has the fix in it, or there will be problems.

I just installed 0.9.38 ( first from the official debian etch package, and after
from source ) and i have missing characters, in menus and in other places i see
only the first word.
I link some examples, seems to happen with every app:
1)
http://www.webalice.it/giulio.canevari/tmp/WineBug/wine-winefile.png
The "Finestra" menu in winefile ( windows in english )
2)
http://www.webalice.it/giulio.canevari/tmp/WineBug/wine-internetexplorer.png
The google start page with internet explorer ( look at the buttons, they should
be "cerca con google" and "mi sento fortunato", not "cerca" and "mi" .
Also the text "soluzioni" should be "soluzioni aziendali" and "tutto" should be
"tutto su google"
With 0.9.37 there weren't problems.

It isn't hard to fix notepad from Wine to work

cross compile Wine notepad to see its behaviour
on Windows. That would let us write a test.
And I don't know how to cross compile the app.

The latest git seems to have fixed it, but I'd like to see some others test
it. Couple issues I noticed:
Wouldn't rip from the dvd drive itself (I never used to do this, so I'm not
sure if this is a result of the patch or not).
It did crash once for me, right after opening files ripped to the hard drive.
I reopened it again fine, then tried removing analysis results from DVD
shrink's application data folder. Worked fine then.
I'll attach the log of that crash, to see if it provides anything useful. It
seems unrelated to the original bug, however.
As for the good news, DVD shrink now launches, without an infinite loop :-).
I'm testing it all the way through, but that'll take a few hours. If it works
fine, I'll test on my 2 other machines and see if the problem is fixed for
them as well.
Can anyone else test?

Hi Misha, I think it's best to ask on wine-devel or wine-hackers IRC channel why
the patch has not been committed. Apparently Alexandre has a problem with it,
otherwise it would have been committed already i think.
Furthermore this bug affects _many_ applications, and prevent them from working
correctly, so raising severity to major

Well, the initial comment made it seem like it's a silly compile error and
"evil" says it's gone. The original reporter's build log does show
--enable-win64. Is this true for you "evil"?

That sounded like a likely cause (thanks for suggesting I look at that).
But, when I ran the verbose configure, I only saw a couple of missing libraries,
none of which seemed likely to be having this effect (libcapi20-dev,
libsane-dev, libgphoto-dev, libldap-dev).
I went ahead and installed them anyway, in case I was mistaken, and
cleaned/retested. The results are unfortunately still the same. :\
Here's a diff I did of the two verbose configures. Nothing jumps out as a
definite problem to me.

Vitaliy, with a couple of hacks Wine builds for me with --enable-win64
configure switch. Wine builtin command line apps like cmd.exe work, but
window management needs more work since it relies on addresses being capped
at 2 Gb. True Win64 ABI support is far away.

Just to clarify things:
Wine does not build as a native 64-bit executable on a 64-bit OS, instead
Wine *detects* that the host platform is 64-bit, and adds necessary switches
to tool chain (gcc/ld/etc.) command lines to instruct them to build 32-bit
executables.

I think this bug should be re-classified again to critical.
In my experience, using Ubuntu Feisty 7.04 with WINE 0.9.38, I can confirm that
BabasChess (version 3.6 Build 8364) will crash sometimes after long periods (a
few hours) or sometimes only a few minutes.
I have had it crash when making moves, selecting from menus, closing boards, and
even leaving the game for long periods with the board on top with a game/games
loaded.
Steps to reproduce:
open the program, connect to FICS (using timeseal or not), and play/observe a
few games (click on stuff).
Note - I tried connecting as guest but the program wouldn't crash, but maybe I
hadn't played long enough.
Note - It does NOT matter whether wine is executing wine
path/to/BabasChess/BabasChess.exe
or cd path/to/BabasChess then wine BabasChess.exe
the program still crashes seemingly randomly (possibly with different reasons).
For the latter I have included two attachments - before the crash and after the
crash. This is just the terminal output. Sorry if I have created an attachments
in the wrong place.
There seems to be (to me anyway) problems associated with the program loading
board images sometimes (causing the program to crash).
I am using bitmaps for the pieces but I wonder if simply getting the vector
pieces to load properly would fix this - the state of the vector pieces shows a
certain level of incompatibility in itself. I could be completely wrong about
this though.
If it's not this then it could be a problem with using different dlls. I have a
dual boot with XP(SP2) and one of the places wine looks for dlls is my actual
C:\Windows\... directories.

I am sorry, I think my prior comment was a little too long and confusing.
Basically:
* winebrowser's invocation through ShellExecute depended on ShellExecute adding
a %1 to whatever is in a command key if the %1 is not there already, a behavior
not present on Windows
----> this was due to Google Picassa's odd way of opening web pages
----> however this caused problems with Vector NTI and my patch changed this
behavior (while adding the proper use of DDE) in a way that conforms to native
* Now winebrowser does not start. The patches I submitted use native resgistry
keys which use DDE for winebrowser and add DDE capabilities to winebrowser
* This fixes this bug and also bug 7953

------- Additional Comments From mk144210(a)bcm.tmc.edu 2007-06-06 19:56 -------
This bug was caused by my execute_from_key patch which made ShellExecute conform
to native behavior, in which a %1 is not added to shell/?/command strings if it
is not present (rather DDE is now used properly now in the case where ddeexec is
present). Besides not conforming to native, the old behavior also caused
problems in Vector NTI which actually does not start at all (in wine or on
Windows) when passed a command line parameter it does not recognize whereas it
works fine with DDE.
Winebrowser depended on this adding a %1 to the command stirng if it is not
present, and a %1 was not present because apparently Google Picassa just takes
whatever is in the shell/open/command key, appends the filename to it, and then
runs that command.
I have already submitted patches that fix the winebrowser syntax bug in a way
that conforms to native. Specifically, I used the exact same keys from native,
which specifies to use DDE, and added DDE support for winebrowser:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2007-June/039972.htmlhttp://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2007-June/039973.html
I am still waiting to see if they are committed or need any modifications, but I
have tested them extensively and I believe they are correct especially as
these conform to native behavior/registry keys more closely than before (and
mind you although my execute_from_key patches exposed this winebrowser bug,
in effect the reliance of winebrowser on this non-native functionality of
ShellExecute was incorrect from the get-go).
Btw, my new patches also fix this bug:

I've installed the version I compiled in my 32-bit chroot to my 64-bit

Still trying to figure out why it has this bug when wine is compiled as
64-bit... and especially why it wouldn't have disappeared when I compiled with
the '-m32' option, before resorting to a chroot...
I noticed something that appears related too: Not all of the application icons
show when running under 64-bit Wine. They are displaying fine under the version
I compiled in the 32-bit chroot.

Summary: winebrowser: Incompatible syntax
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.38.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: wine-net
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: helge(a)helges.dk
Hi,
I've just taken a new approach on Wine to try and make Counter-Strike work: A
completely clean installation, with no native MS files except for the Tahoma font.
Xubuntu 7.04 Feisty, ATI X600.
Anyway, I've gotten Steam up and running, and here's my problem: I can't buy
anything using Paypal, because Steam can't make winebrowser open the window.
Output message (appears when I press "Begin PayPal purchase":
Usage: winebrowser URL
This happens in all applications trying to open webpages in an external
iexplore, it seems. Winebrowser is only useful when embedded.
I think this is a "bug" and not an "enhancement request", because it actually
hinders functionality in certain applications.

Louis: I'm not at the computer that I've been using to test this (just picked up
another computer cheap from someone moving), but I'll run the test on there. I
just installed wine 0.9.38, and it exhibits the same error, though it does give
another quartz error (Graphbuilder can't create a filter). I'm cloning wine-git
as we speak and will report back in a few hours.
Martin: Going back to wine 0.9.33 won't do much good. The problem would just
reoccur as soon as ubuntu packages 0.9.35 as the default version. Also, people
on other distributions, those building wine from source or those using the
Winehq's repositories are all currently having problems (if using wine version
=> 0.9.35). It's much better to debug and fix the problem in the source.

Don't change the reported version. It makes it easier to track the age of the
bug. It's enough to periodically report "still doesn't work in wine ver X" to
keep some activity.

Progress!
I've completed another test on the exact same machine - I built/installed the
same source in a 32-bit chroot (also a fully patched Kubuntu 7.10 installation).
When run in this mode, the GUI displays correctly. So, this at least rules out
problems with my .wine or Steam directories.
I still can't say if this is a 64-bit bug with the Wine code, or due to a bug in
the 64-bit version of a 3rd party library. I'm trying to think of some
alternate tests...

------- Additional Comments From stefandoesinger(a)gmx.at 2007-06-06 17:36 -------
Turns out that the 2nd problem I discribed is the whole issue. The red, green
and blue colors come from the emissive material property(which tracks the
primary color), while the alpha channel comes from the diffuse property(which
also tracks the primary color). In opengl only emissive OR diffuse can be set
up to track the vertex color. So we either get the correct color, or the
correct alpha, but never both.
A solution would be a replacement shader, or drawing the vertices in immediate
mode and change glMaterial every vertex. The glMaterial man page says its
legal, but will be slow.
The funny thing is that the parameters eve sets up have exactly the same
result as disabling lighting. It would be possible to catch this condition,
but it would link many states together and result in a huge if statement that
addresses a very specific bug in eve.

Output for my latest try at installing DNS9
So far, these are the instructions that get DNS9 the closest to installation on
my machine.
0. make sure you have wine-0.9.37 or later
1. rm -rf ~/.wine
2. run winecfg and set the following:
Libraries = riched20, riched32, msvcrt = native, builtin
OK
3. Copy the contents of DN9_1 and DNS9_2 to one folder on your hard disk, and
run wine setup from that.
4. after the install finishes, do
wget http://kegel.com/wine/winetricks
sh winetricks fakeie6 dcom98
5. download word 97 viewer from
http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,6314-order,1-page,1-c,wordprocess…
change the title to setdown.exe, copy it to .wine/drive_c and install it.
6. Get these files and put them on .wine/drive_c/windows/system32/
regapi.dll
winsta.dll
gdiplus.dll
mfc42.dll
msvcp60.dll
oleacc.dll
Check that location to make sure you have:
docobj.dll
from the wordviewer install
6. finally, do
wine natspeak.exe
And you get the errors attached.

Summary: DVD Shrink : app vanishes on GUI events
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.38.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: test
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: amurphy7701(a)yahoo.com
This bug appeared with wine 0.9.35
It is still there on 0.9.38
Description :
The app launches well, and most of the times you can start to use it normally
(analysis, encoding, ...) but it seems that on some events like passing over a
button (which focues) with the mouse, crashes the app, so it simply vanishes,
without popup error.
This behaviour never happened with 0.9.34
By the way, my config is not customized (no dll replacement, win2000 profile)

>From these I noticed some things:
* on Windows, many fonts enumerate VIETNAMESE_CHARSET (163) last and/or
RUSSIAN_CHARSET (204) just after;
* on Windows, only the fonts that only enumerate charset 0 have this one as
their last enumerated charset;
* without the patch, Wine does repeat BALTIC_CHARSET (186) as the last
enumerated charset with many fonts;
* with the patch, only DEFAULT_CHARSET is repeated, both at the beginning and
at the end;
* with or without the patch, I couldn't see Wine enumerating "charsets that are
not supposed to be enumerated";
* the last enumerated charset (or, for that matter, the order of the
enumeration) doesn't seem to be the real cause, as most fonts on Windows (at
least in this box) enumerate either VIETNAMESE_CHARSET or RUSSIAN_CHARSET last;
* Finally, a "grep 204" on the <empty> DEFAULT_CHARSET section of the Wine log
after applying the patch yielded 55 lines (Arial Black and Trebuchet MS
included, as you can see), and thus my patch does not lose RUSSIAN_CHARSET;
With the patch, the only charset that ever gets duplicated is DEFAULT_CHARSET,
but not for all fonts, and not the same number of times for all fonts; some
interesting examples to look at in the two Wine logs are:
* Kochi Gothic (no duplication)
* Liberation Sans (three DEFAULT_CHARSET duplications with the patch, three
BALTIC_CHARSET duplications without it)
* Loma (no duplication with the patch, two THAI_CHARSET duplications without
it)
* Shado (three DEFAULT_CHARSET duplications with the patch, three
ARABIC_CHARSET duplications without the patch).
I'm looking into this now.

Summary: IMGBURN-Destination field in build mode doesn't allow
anything but the drive letter
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.34.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: test
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: amurphy7701(a)yahoo.com
New versions of IMGBURN allow to build an ISO from files on the disk.
In build mode, with a file as destination, you get a field where the
destination ISO file should be displayed.
But you only get the drive letter, and an error if you try to launch the
building process.
For example, if you want to save to z:\tmp\dummy.iso, and you use the dialog to
enter this path, only the "z" remains in the field, even if in the history the
complete path is there.
Moreover, even if it is possible to enter manually the path in the field, when
you launch the building process, it still gives an error about the validity of
the full qualified path.

Eve online enables lighting, disables all lights and sets the emissive
material color to track the primary vertex color. For some reason the emissive
color tracking is broken.
The 2nd problem is that eve sets both emissive and diffuse color to track the
vertex color; this is something that can't be done in opengl without a fixed
function pipeline replacement shader.

I'll see what I can do...
Generally I've had a lot of trouble with Wine. Trying to get Counter-Strike 1.6
to work, it also seems like it wont communicate with my graphics card, or the
driver is just acting up (ATI Radeon on crappy proprietary FGLRX drivers).
I wonder if ATI will ever come up with some decent quality Linux drivers :-/
I've got nothing good from playing around with IE, except of course I can use it
for website testing.
I'll try to aim for a "clean" Wine-setup from now.

Summary: Silktest 5 installer aborts on disk space check
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.38.
Platform: Other
URL: http://www.borland.com/us/products/silk/silktest/
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Keywords: Installer
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-kernel
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
The installer puts up an error dialog saying
There is not enough space on drive C:\ to extract this package.
Please free up 73.82 MB and click Retry.
in spite of C: having 8GB free. The log shows
trace:volume:GetDiskFreeSpaceW L"C:\\",0x33ef9c,0x33efa0,0x33efa8,0x33efa4
0009:Ret KERNEL32.GetDiskFreeSpaceA() retval=00000001 ret=004013b5
Setting the windows version to win98 triggers the 2GB cap
and lets installation continue, but I suspect the 2GB cap
might be needed even on newer OS's, as MSDN says the function
can't report disk space above 2GB.

I've succeeded to install .NET 1.1 on top of Wine+IE6 (from IEs4Linux).
All native files from IE6 have been changed in user.reg from "native" to
"native,builtin", meaning now I can use FileZilla again (wow, some of the
builtins are actually working better).
Although with some errors in the last installation phase (registering type
libraries and making shortcuts), .NET seems to install and reports success.
Now the .NET 1.1 applications no longer ask me to install it, but it doesn't work.
This is the error I get when trying to run a .NET 1.1 application or the .NET

All alsa relevant midi devices are made visible to windows applications through
the standard multimedia midi interface.
For non professionnal midi apps such as games, the first device is selected by
default by the app which does not provide the ability to select another one
which is particularily annoying, as in your case, when it is an external midi port.
To address this, built-in synthetisers are enumerated first and then external
midi ports.
So there shouldn't be any problem.
Could you enable midi debug channel with "WINEDEBUG=+midi wine ......" and add
the log in the report so we can see what's going on ?

The virtual desktop can be at any resolution, and thief succcessfully changes it
to 640x480 on startup.
Now 640x480 is not one of the modes listed in my xorg.conf
If I add 640x480 to the list
Subsection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "640x480" "1024x768" "800x600"
ViewPort 0 0
EndSubsection
thief still does not start: X's screen size is still set to largest value in
that list, even though the window (what the monitor shows) is a 640x480 corner
of this - which may be moved around by nudging edges with mouse pointer.
If I set the list to include 640x480 alone
Subsection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "640x480"
ViewPort 0 0
EndSubsection
then thief starts no problem.

> I did that, and I'm attaching a set of logs and diffs showing the effects of

Since current Wine behaviour is not entirely correct you also need to compare
the results with real Windows in order to get the picture how it's supposed
to be eventually.
> I noticed I forgot to mention where I got the idea for the patch, so here it
> goes: upon inspecting the tests output both on Windows and on Wine I saw
> that, discarding repetitions, EnumFontFamilies() enumerated the charsets for
> <empty> and DEFAULT_CHARSET in ascending order on the former, but in
> descending order in the latter.
I looked at the test results under Windows once again and can not confirm that.
> (Moreover, I saw that all the fonts and charsets were there, so
> my best guess was that Notes was relying on some other ordering - and bingo!)
My understanding of the problem is that Notes simply uses last enumerated
LOGFONT structure to create the font that is used to display the text, and
since Wine enumerates charsets that are not supposed to be enumerated that is
causing the bug.
Looking at the attached log diffs makes it clear that your patch is not
correct: it adds font enumeration duplicates, and as were pointed out loses
russian charset.

>> What distro?
As stated in my original bug report, this is what is seen when running on
Kubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon - 2.6.22), which goes tribe 1 in two days.
>> Why are you compiling Wine from GIT and not using binary package?
Because that's what I've done for the last couple of years on various distros.
Well.. I was compiling from CVS back then, but "same difference" as they say.
Also, there are no wine packages available for Gutsy yet.
>> This is not place to ask how to use GIT. _Only_ to discuss Wine bugs _only_.
I was only asking for a friendly piece of advice from the more experienced (you)
so that I could help track down the bug. Without your assistance, the best
thing I could come up with was "git reset --hard HEAD~100" to keep backleveling
a chunk at a time.
>> No one had this problem so far.
That you are aware of, yes? No one ever reports a problem until the first
person does, and not everyone always experiences every problem, right? I'm
running a 64-bit bleeding edge distro on a dual-core system; I somehow always
tend to be one of the first to encounter a new bug - hehe.
>> I will keep this bug open, but you will have to find what's broken in your
setup/configuration/etc.
This is not a bug that affects my ability to use Wine at all... I'm only trying
to assist you guys. If you are sure no one else will encounter this and insist
on closing it, that's your prerogative.
As for searching for what's broken, I've completely deleted my .wine, removed my
Steam directory, made clean and installed from scratch. Either this is a bug in
wine, a bug in the newer GCC (which I pretty much ruled out by jumping back to
3.4 in my testing), or a bug in some supporting library that will likely affect
a lot of people eventually if we don't identify it now and alert the responsible
project (if it's actually a bug in a supporting library).
I backleveled all the way back to April so far, and still see the problem. If
no one else in no other 64-bit distro sees the problem (though we've only had a
day to have them stumble across this and chime in), I'm inclined to believe it's
a problem introduced by something new in Gutsy. I was using Feisty betas in
April, and believe I would have noticed this bug before - but can't be certain
since all I usually do is test to see what the DirectX patches do to/for the
actual games.
If it's a problem with a supporting library, do you have an idea as to which one
could have this sort of affect on the GUI? I'm willing to download the source
of likely candidates and install older versions to root out the culprit.
The Steam games themselves, like CS:S still run fine (kudos to all devs)... only
the steam GUI is showing this minor bug. I even turned off Beryl and tried KWin
as a window manager, to see if it had any effect -but it did not.

The first fixme is probably the real problem, as it is expected to produce a
non-empty list of interfaces/devices.
I don't know what Component this bug belongs in.

I have been trying to find out more about this problem and it is not easy. What
would be useful is some way to show what sequencer client/port Wine is connected to.
The application I am running seems to detect SOME midi support, but I have not
been able to discover what it is connecting to. I'm guessing that it's
connecting to the first one it finds (ALSA 16:0) which as far as I can tell is
my soundcard's Gameport connector. I want it to be connected to 17:0, which is
the hardware Wavetable synthesiser.
Here is clarification of what I want to do: Windows provides a built-in software
midi synthesiser. Obviously this is not something that Wine should implement,
but what would be nice is a way to tell Wine which clients/ports are available
for internel synthesising (that would be played through the sound card), and
which are available for connecting external synthesisers (e.g., an external MIDI
keyboard).

What distro? Why are you compiling Wine from GIT and not using binary package?
This is not place to ask how to use GIT. _Only_ to discuss Wine bugs _only_.
No one had this problem so far. I will keep this bug open, but you will have to
find what's broken in your setup/configuration/etc.

Download and unzip spim.zip. Run spimwin.exe, which is the setup program.
Accept the defaults (install to C:\Program Files\PCSpim), click Yes to create
the directory.
The install appears to complete (with an error dialog about not being able to
connect to Program Manager via DDE), but no files are copied.
The relevant part of a relay log is:
0012:Call KERNEL32.CopyFileA(0034f0a0 "Z:\\home\\juan\\spim\\mfc40.dll",0034ef98
"C:\\PROG~FBU\\PCSpim\\mfc40.dll",00000001) ret=00402a63
0012:Ret KERNEL32.CopyFileA() retval=00000000 ret=00402a63
CopyFileA is failing because the source file doesn't exist. Instead, it's been
unzipped to c:\windows\temp\<temporary directory>

Additional test, compiled with gcc 3.4 (instead of 4.1.3) and used -m32. Same
(broken) results.
Now doing bisect to see if it the skin looks right with older versions. I'm
just taking stabs with the "start" though. I'm reading through some Git
tutorials, but haven't found the command to just keep going backward, when
you're searching for a "good" version.

Hello,
the exception (access violation) is actually a bug in explorer-style file dialog
support in wine.
The application hooks open/save file dialog procedures and in order to customize
them.
When GetOpenFileName(A) is called and the original FileOpenDlgProc95 dialog proc
receives the WM_INITDIALOG message, it calls CreateTemplateDialog() which sets
up necessary stuff.
Within CreateTemplateDialog(), the client hook procedure is called
(CreateDialogIndirectParamA).
The application hook explicitly searches for "toolbarwindow32" controls in order
to modify them - but it doesnt expect that these controls do not exist (yet).
--- snip dlls/comdlg32/filedlg.c ---
INT_PTR CALLBACK FileOpenDlgProc95(HWND hwnd, UINT uMsg, WPARAM wParam, LPARAM
lParam)
{
...
switch(uMsg)
{
case WM_INITDIALOG:
{
FileOpenDlgInfos * fodInfos = (FileOpenDlgInfos *)lParam;
/* Adds the FileOpenDlgInfos in the property list of the dialog
so it will be easily accessible through a GetPropA(...) */
SetPropA(hwnd, FileOpenDlgInfosStr, (HANDLE) fodInfos);
fodInfos->DlgInfos.hwndCustomDlg =
CreateTemplateDialog((FileOpenDlgInfos *)lParam, hwnd);
FILEDLG95_InitControls(hwnd);
if (fodInfos->DlgInfos.hwndCustomDlg)
...
--- snip dlls/comdlg32/filedlg.c ---
"FILEDLG95_InitControls(hwnd)" which creates child controls is called too late.
Child controls must be created before the client hook procedure is executed
(within CreateTemplateDialog) to give the client a chance to access/modify them.
By moving control creation before template dialog creation it goes further.
--- snip dlls/comdlg32/filedlg-new.c ---
switch(uMsg)
{
case WM_INITDIALOG:
{
FileOpenDlgInfos * fodInfos = (FileOpenDlgInfos *)lParam;
/* Adds the FileOpenDlgInfos in the property list of the dialog
so it will be easily accessible through a GetPropA(...) */
SetPropA(hwnd, FileOpenDlgInfosStr, (HANDLE) fodInfos);
FILEDLG95_InitControls(hwnd);
fodInfos->DlgInfos.hwndCustomDlg =
CreateTemplateDialog((FileOpenDlgInfos *)lParam, hwnd);
if (fodInfos->DlgInfos.hwndCustomDlg)
..
--- snip dlls/comdlg32/filedlg-new.c ---
It later crashes here:
--- snip dlls/comdlg32/filedlg.c ---
static BOOL FILEDLG95_FILETYPE_OnCommand(HWND hwnd, WORD wNotifyCode)
{
FileOpenDlgInfos *fodInfos = (FileOpenDlgInfos *)
GetPropA(hwnd,FileOpenDlgInfosStr);
...
/* Refresh the actual view to display the included items*/
IShellView_Refresh(fodInfos->Shell.FOIShellView); <-- *boom*
}
}
return FALSE;
}
--- snip dlls/comdlg32/filedlg.c ---
"fodInfos->Shell.FOIShellView" is NULL at this point.
That should be taken into account.
--- snip dlls/comdlg32/filedlg-new.c ---
..
/* Refresh the actual view to display the included items*/
if( fodInfos->Shell.FOIShellView)
IShellView_Refresh(fodInfos->Shell.FOIShellView);
...
--- snip dlls/comdlg32/filedlg-new.c ---
With both patches the application "open"/"save"/"save as" dialogs display fine.
Regards
