Once past bug 8477, the installer for p4win seems
to run ok, but when it finishes, it says:
The installation has completed with errors.
Please email support(a)perforce.com or call
Perforce Technical Support at 510-864-7400.
We will need to review the file c:\\windows\\temp\\Perforce.log
That log says
_RegisterFile(): c:\Program Files\Perforce\p4exp.dll, DllRegisterServer() failed
I'll attach a +ole,+text log, but it doesn't seem to be too illumunating.
This is with wine-0.9.37-g7eaf1fe, current as of Monday.

WINSPOOL.DRV: Preliminary fix for Bug #8475
This eliminates the issue, by setting the first printer loaded from CUPS as the
default if printers were found but none of them was reported as the default
one.
This also fixes Bug #8476. Beware of Bug #4097, though.
Is this patch OK? On a side note, my manager here suggested that Wine should
favor local printers when automatically choosing the default printer when CUPS
doesn't tell it there's one. But something tells me that wouldn't be exactly
the way Windows does this. Any thoughts?

Summary: Upon starting, Platinum ERwin 3.5.2 thinks there's no
printer installed if there is no default printer
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-kernel
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: inckie(a)gmail.com
Platinum ERwin 3.5.2 relies on the fact that Windows always selects a printer as
default, even if the user doesn't specify one.
To reproduce the bug, you just have to not have (!) any default printers in
CUPS, and then launch ERwin. When you go to File > Print Setup, you'll see that
the Printer combo box has a blank first line that is selected by default (see
Bug #8475). You can then select a valid installed printer and it will print
normally, though.
The first attachment to Bug #8475 fixes this issue. Beware, however, of Bug #4097.

Component: wine-kernel
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: inckie(a)gmail.com
In order do reproduce this bug, just fire up BPwin, open or create a new
project, and click File > Print. Try printing, and BPWin will just stay still.
If you go to File > Print Setup, you'll see that the Printer combo box has a
blank first line that is selected by default. However, no matter which printer
you select from it, it will still try to print with that blank default and get
stuck.
I'd happily give a link to a demo version, if I had it; the only trial I have
access to is version 7.5...

Hello,
one of my machines has FC5 partition too (older notebook).
I could try to make comdlg32.dll.so from 0.9.x source tree with that patch and
you temporarily replace old one for testing...
But we have to make sure for gcc/glibc matches (up-to-date FC5).
Though it might take some time (preparations).
Which wine version do you have upgraded to? 0.9.36? 0.9.37?
Regards

I applied the patch against Wine-0.9.37. It works!
However the game crashes to the debugger when you quit. It didn't do that with
older Wine versions as far as I can recall. I don't know whether this has
anything to do with dsound, though. Either way, it's not really a problem, as
the game is now fully playable again.
Thanks!

Hello,
while working on StarForce 3, the service/driver installer bumps on incomplete
QueryServiceConfigA/W().
The service display name is queried to get required buffer size but later
forgotten to query the actual value.
The SF service installer doesnt check the QUERY_SERVICE_CONFIGW string values
for NULL ptrs before access (which is the case for missing display name).
--- snip dlls/advapi32/service.c ---
BOOL WINAPI
QueryServiceConfigW( SC_HANDLE hService,

n = total - sizeof (QUERY_SERVICE_CONFIGW);
....
sz = n;
r = RegQueryValueExW( hKey, szGroup, 0, &type, p, &sz );
if( ( r == ERROR_SUCCESS ) || ( type == REG_SZ ) )
{
lpServiceConfig->lpLoadOrderGroup = (LPWSTR) p;
p += sz;
n -= sz;
}
/* +++ */
sz = n;
r = RegQueryValueExW( hKey, szDisplayName, 0, &type, p, &sz );
if( ( r == ERROR_SUCCESS ) || ( type == REG_SZ ) )
{
lpServiceConfig->lpDisplayName = (LPWSTR) p;
p += sz;
n -= sz;
}
/* +++ */
...
/* +++ */
TRACE("Display name = %s\n", debugstr_w(lpServiceConfig->lpDisplayName) );
/* +++ */
}
--- snip dlls/advapi32/service.c ---
With service display name correctly filled in, the installer is happy at this stage.

If other Eve players would like to "step in" and assist with the
troubleshooting, it would be greatly appreciated.

I run an application on wine 0.9.37 under ubuntu feisty.
The application starts but some of the fonts (not all of them), like the menu
bar and some other, are not correctly displayed.
I obtain some fixme messages on advapi, win and wtsapi libraries.
If I click on any of the menu items or some other place in the application's
window, wine sents lots of fixme messages on advapi library.
I have tried to copy original windows fonts to wine windows/fonts directory, but
that doesn't fix the problem.

Summary: DeltaCad doesn't draw broken lines
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.12.
Platform: PC
URL: http://www.deltacad.com
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: wine-x11driver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: loksipan(a)netvigator.com
CC: loksipan(a)netvigator.com
App : DeltaCad - simple intuitive windows CAD system, works v.well under wine.
System : Kubuntu (Hoary Hedgehog)
Problem:-
Circles and arcs can be drawn using both solid and broken lines (eg hidden
lines, phantom lines and centre lines), but, straight lines and polygons only
come out as solid lines no matter which pen is selected.
Dash and Gap settings and Drawing Scale have no effect on this issue with
straight broken lines, but correct expected effects can be seen on circles and
arcs drawn with broken line pens.
DeltaCAD authors say DeltaCAD uses different methods of drawing broke and solid
lines so the problem is in wine.
Seems bug may be related to this:-

Well, apparently I spoke too soon. It's crashing again. I must've just gotten
lucky when I played this morning. Or maybe it has something to do with the
number of players on the map? Cause when I played this morning for 30+ minutes,
there were maybe 8 people on the server. And of course, now that I'm trying to
play at night, there are 16+ people. Maybe the crash has some dependence on the
amount of data being received/processed?

Summary: X Error of failed request: BadPixmap (invalid Pixmap
parameter)
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.37.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P3
Component: wine-x11driver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: miketrml(a)gmail.com
My apologies first and foremost if this is a duplicate. I tried looking at the
list, but 56k is an extremely slow go especially for the size of this particular
bug list.
In regards to the bug, I'm using both WINE 0.9.37 and IES4Linux with the
wineprefix set to: WINEPREFIX="/home/<myusername>/.ies4linux/ie5/".
The program I'm attempting to use is called Voodoo ( http://www.voodoochat.com
). It's a multi-user chat program (currently numbering 1,600+ (during larger
days)) that acts as a part of IE in an attempt to allow users to have web page
"rooms". Anyone using Excite's old Virtual Places or Halsoft will understand
this ideology.
The developer, Mike Parniak, has attempted graciously to allow those of us
utilizing WINE to use the chat portion of the program without the added benefits
of IE as the backdrop by typing the following to launch:: wine voodoo.exe -x ::.
Recent development of WINE in 0.9.37 has allowed Voodoo to operate normally with
IES4Linux for the first time -ever-. However, this is not without it's problems.
The bug:
Loaded via: WINEPREFIX="/home/len/ies4linux/ie5/" wine voodoo
When using IES4linux and WINE 0.9.37, the program (Voodoo) runs fairly normal as
allowed by it's creator. After several minutes, however, the following message
is displayed in the command prompt after clicking on a menu with the mouse:
X Error of failed request: BadPixmap (invalid Pixmap parameter)
Major opcode of failed request: 54 (X_FreePixmap)
Resource id in failed request: 0x2a080e5
Serial number of failed request: 239042
Current serial number in output stream: 239079
Upon receiving this message, Voodoo exits and the WINE window shuts to a close.
I would have more information, but that's all I have to offer and that's all
that has been given to my knowledge. I will provide more information if and when
it's requested.

No, you don't have enough permissions for that. And it's not necessary. All that
you can do now is get the latest Wine version. Unless of course you want to fix
this bug yourself :)

wow 2.1.0 patch opengl.txt
I'm not sure if this is related to this bug, but with the 2.1.0 patch that came
out today, World of Warcraft completely freezes when you try to exit the
program. This causes none of my settings to be saved so now I have to accept
the EULA every time I start the game.
I finally managed to get the attached output from the freeze.

Install seems to go ok, for both the engine and the exam. There is a process
that is not getting kicked off after the install of the exam portion. as when
you launch the transcender product it never actually shows any exams to be
installed. I believe it is "EVUpdate.exe" but i cant confirm i tried watching
the processes in both OpenSuSE 10.2 and Win XP Pro SP2, i do see evupdate
getting kicked off in win xp but unless i missed it, i dont see it in opensuse.

0.9.36 works almost perfectly (only crash at game exit).
It's really the regression between 0.9.36 and 0.9.37.
I'll try to track down the exact patch.

Hello,
one possible cause could be some early native dll api call which set last eror
value.
Suspicious one: GetLastError() retval=00000057 (parameter incorrect)
That last error gets passed throughout the installer.
Seems no api resets this until it gets finally checked.
You could try to produce a log with successful run and diff it against first
(unsuccessful) run (paying attention to last error values).
And try to add +loaddll,+seh for both runs to see which (native) dll might be
involved.
Regards

Once past bug 8466, Autocad 2000 trial installer
says it can't find a browser, and you have to click 'next'
to continue (but that's not a showstopper, so I'm ignoring it
for now). Then it goes nearly to the end, but then puts up a
long series of dialog boxes complaining e.g.
Error installing font sanssb__.ttf
Looking at the log, for some reason it's trying to load those
fonts from d:\ !
trace:file:RtlDosPathNameToNtPathName_U (L"sanssb__.ttf",0x34f7a4,(nil),(nil))
trace:file:RtlGetFullPathName_U (L"sanssb__.ttf" 520 0x34f564 (nil))

Why the heck is it trying to grab the font from drive d?
Perhaps the current directory is incorrect somewhere...?

That's odd. I haven't touched anything in quartz since implementing the
filter, and the only changes in quartz or msacm were removing a couple unused
headers. I know that winemp3.acm is very touchy about invalid data and will
crash like that if it starts getting bad data. Are the mp3s perhaps corrupted?
Can you do a regression test to see which patch caused the problem?
I also can't find the error code 80070026 anywhere in the wine headers..

The book "Special Edition: Using AutoCAD 2000" by Ron House

The first time you run the installer, it fails early with the dialog
You have insufficient rights to install this product.

Oddly, running it again gets past that error, and on to the next.
I'll attach the interesting part of a +relay,+text log.

Ok, this also affects Diablo. If Battle.NET crashes in StarCraft for you then
Diablo will crash after the intro videos too.
I finally fixed this by installing EVERY ttf-* package available for my distro.
What the hell sort of weird bug is this?
Elevating severity due to multiple applications affected (I'm guessing the early
Warcrafts may be affected too).

Hello,
you are possibly running into http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8431
I tested with clean wine that had commit which caused regression removed and
probably due to this the install went fine for me (read: i did not applied the
proposed patch).
You could try the proposed one, mentioned in bug report.
If that that doesnt work, revert the patch that caused regression mentioned in
bug report 8431.
This bug currently breaks almost all InstallShield Engine 6.x, 7.x based
installers and should be considered critical (fix ASAP).

The patch is wrong. The three possible solutions are:
1. Fix either dlls/winex11.drv or dlls/user32 to not display the title for tray
windows in desktop mode.
2. Tray windows shouldn't be docked with the window manager in desktop mode and
should just be left as normal windows inside the virtual desktop.
3. Implement an explorer bar in programs/explorer (for use only in virtual
desktops) that contains the tray area.

Well, I ran the tests on Windows and saw that EnumFontFamilies() didn't
enumerate any charsets other than 0... did I make too early a conclusion? After
all, the tests as they are now show that EnumFontFamilies() shouldn't enumerate
any other charset when called with a familiy name. However, I do feel I'm
missing something here.

This attachment should do it, then. I have just tested it on Notes, with almost
as many fonts as in the first comment.
It seems to me that this issue is independent of the other one adressed in the
remainder of the patch. That is, I tested each one individually and both
together, and their results didn't influence each other's - including the
number of enumerated fonts. I'd really like, however, to see the results of
these changes in systems other than mine.

The installer engine (ikernel) hangs at exit, after last final setup dialog is
closed, but that seems harmless.
The game is installed fine. The update (patch) to 2.81 fine too.
Though slightly off topic: That game uses PunkBuster.
If you push digital certificates verification (wintrust/crypt) implementation in
wine a little, i might look into possibility to get PunkBuster working
(executables are digitally signed).
This might be of some interest, due to PunkBuster being used in several major
multiplayer games.

If the two attachments above lack a backtrace, it is because one is not

be an ERR anyways, but thats a fix for later.. It seems like it is trying to

then when it tries to execute that, it is failing.. Just an educated guess tho.

Fix for Bug 7571
I followed your advice and that did make the patch a lot simpler... thanks!
I also managed to fix the Lotus Notes R5 issue - please see lines 89-101 of the
patch file. No tests break, and Notes is happy again. :)
The questions are: would that have any nasty side effects? Is there anything
else I must do before I send this to wine-patches?
(I'll upload a full +font,+xrender log later)

Hello,
sorry but marking this as dup is not correct.
The mentioned patch in bug 7461 does not fix this, the installer exits prematurely.
Default (clean) wine installtion is simply missing the following registry key:
"SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Uninstall"
The missing is considered "critical" to some custom installer actions.
This key should be created by default by wine installation.
It doesnt harm and would prevent these type of installer checks from failing.
Regards

Well finally in suse 10.2 i could install Dream Weaver 8.0 cleanly.. without
problem.. using the installer. I just leave unchecked the file associations and
all the desktop icons and automatic stuff. Also installed Flash 8.0 and is
working good. The performance of the DW in linux is better than windows.. is
amazing the way as it moves
I'm very happy, i deleted the Windows and leave only my Open Suse 10.2
Many Thanks to all the Wine Team and the other guys who collaborate with this
project.

I can confirm this. I reverted to 0.9.29 and don't seem to have the issue any
more. I played for way longer just now than I was able to with the latest version.

More information hopefuly to come in the future, but for now the application's
developer (and CEO of Invelos) has chipped in with an offer of his support from
the applications perspective. Presumably, he will be able to make minor
adjustments to future releases to improve compatability, should this be necessary.
The developer (Ken Cole) can be contacted via his DVD Profiler user profile, here:

How fortunate that I'm raising a bug about OpenGL and not D3D, then.

Summary: Mouse unusable in Dungeon Keeper 2
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.37.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-dinput
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: trevor_boon(a)yahoo.com
with the advent of wine 0.9.37, the mouse is unusable. It jitters as if you had
two mice fighting for control. I've read somewhere that this is a problem with
wine's dinput translating relative reporting into absolute reporting, although
this was an old document. I'm unable to locate any setting or command line
option for DK2 to disable dinput. Is this a regression bug? I cannot tell, as I
couldn't even get the splash screen to show up on previous versions of wine. I
note that this issue is not evident when running DK2 under cedega, however I
can't really run DK2 under cedega either due to sound and crashing issues.

In general, this patch is much better, but needs some cleanup.
> if (enum_gdi_fonts)

> + if (dwUnicode & ENUM_ALL_FAMILIES) fe32.dwFlags &= ~ENUM_ALL_FAMILIES;
> fe32.dwFlags &= ~ENUM_CALLED;
You can just unconditionally remove ENUM_ALL_FAMILIES mask simultaneously with
ENUM_CALLED.
In order to simplify the logic why not just introduce 1 additional BOOL param
to WineEngEnumFonts that would mean ENUM_ALL_FAMILIES? That way there is no
need to expose an internal structure and flags to freetype.c.

I have done even more testing, and I found something that might help track this
down. On a hunch I tried an older wine version 0.9.29, and it didn't crash *at
all.* I just played for well over an hour, on various maps, including:
- de_dust2
- de_piranesa
- cs_havana
- de_prodigy
I was able to shoot people long-range, in the head, legs, or wherever else, from
whatever distance, with no crash. Just to be sure, could someone try downgrading
.29 and verify this. BTW, I used dxlevel 90.
