Usually the cost of hiring one or more programmers to work on the thing you want
fixed, I would guess. It's usually something businesses do, since it's too
expensive for most individuals to fund.

Sometimes it will freeze on the first channel change... other times it takes
two or more channel changes before it will freeze.
When WoW freezes, nothing is outputted to the terminal. When I close WoW, the
terminal fills with stuff, starting at:

Hello,
a good place for this would be a winetricks step (like gdiplus or vc2005 runtimes).
There is a number of applications/installers which require this library to be
present (several media player versions come to my mind).
As added bonus this version of pdh.dll (NT4 API based) doesnt have the
dependencies to odbc performance data dlls like the newer 2K/XP one has
(required additional odbcbcp.dll).
Running the self-extractor and copy pdh.dll to system32 will please most
application installers which require performance helper library present.

Hello,
with recent GIT addition
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.wine.cvs/30285 there seems to be
the possibility of having a stub+placeholder hal.dll in near future.
Some wishes for next patches (require minor efforts):
- generation of placeholder dll in system32 (makefile)
- version resource (just like kernel32.dll)
This would succeed the installer hal check.
optional:
- image base fixed at 0x80010000 (to emulate windows behaviour)
- subsystem flagged "native" (0x1)
- export directory module name "HAL.dll" (just like kernel32.dll, see my recent
comments to some exe protectors)

Hello,
i hope the problem became clear now?
In my essay:
--- quote ---
When the regsvr32 process calls DllRegisterServer, it tries to register its
interfaces by gathering data from .rsrc section (REGISTRY resource types).
This is done by explicit LoadLibraryEx with LOAD_LIBRARY_AS_DATAFILE flag set
and appropriate Find/LoadResource API.
--- quote ---
The phrase "it tries" was meant to be read "the inproc server tries".
Perhaps this lead to misunderstanding :)
Let LOAD_LIBRARY_AS_DATAFILE case just honour already loaded modules.
A possible fix would be:
--- snip dlls/kernel32/module.c ---
static HMODULE load_library( const UNICODE_STRING *libname, DWORD flags )
{
..
if (flags & LOAD_LIBRARY_AS_DATAFILE)
{
if( GetModuleHandleW(libname) == 0)
{
/* The method in load_library_as_datafile allows searching for the
* 'native' libraries only
*/
if (load_library_as_datafile( libname->Buffer, &hModule )) return
hModule;
}
flags |= DONT_RESOLVE_DLL_REFERENCES; /* Just in case */
/* Fallback to normal behaviour */
}
/* do standard loader stuff */
...
}
--- snip dlls/kernel32/module.c ---
Regards

Hello,
the dll (inproc server) is already loaded (decrypted and initialized by regsvr32
process.
In its DllRegisterServer routine it calls LoadLibrary(LOAD_LIBRARY_AS_DATAFILE)
on itself.
Wines maps the file again (bypassing dll loader) giving therefore a different
HMODULE to client (different base address).
This HMODULE is used for resource managment which doesnt work because the second
instance is encrypted due to no init routines run.
Wine needs to check if dll is already loaded and if so, defer to standard loader
(refcount), else use load_library_as_datafile().

bug happens .. so try with new character without using backspace key and tell us ^^

I've added a simple test to existing dlls/kernel32/tests/loader.c tests and it
shows that Windows simply returns a handle for an already loaded module, but
maps a file and returns (hdll + 1) for LOAD_LIBRARY_AS_DATAFILE if the module
is not yet loaded.

But Windows really just maps the file without performing any initialization
steps for LOAD_LIBRARY_AS_DATAFILE. There should be something else that causes
a problem. Is the dll already loaded at that point? Perhaps in that case
LoadLibrary(LOAD_LIBRARY_AS_DATAFILE) supposed to behave differently?

Tried with and without overriding oleacc.dll . Same configuration as posted above.
Please note: for using the "console" feature in the administrative client you
need a domino server running to connect (and administrative privileges).

Hello,
another interesting pick (i downloaded 5.4.x) :-)
--- quote ---
Does that mean the application is copyprotected?
--- quote ---
Yes, a late ASProtect 2.x SKE version (http://www.aspack.com/asprotect.html).
The minor problem first: You have to use native msxml3 (winetricks), or it will
crash due to unsupported features.
The major problem is the exe protector itself.
It's a pain to debug this in wine due to the way the PEB->BeingDebugged flag is
managed in places critical to debuggers.
Although one of the simple ones (out of several anti debugging checks) it proves
to be annoying in wine environment.
If you simply reset the field (memory) to fool the protector the whole debugging
facility will break.
So patching some sources is the only way to get around (top level SEH and debug
events despite !BeingDebugged).
Ok i stop the little rant :-)
The application consists of two major components which are both protected by
AsProtect: morpheus.exe and M5Shell.dll
The dll proved to be problematic. An inproc ole server.
When i first rebuilt and run the main executable it crashed due to some class
interfaces not registered, probably belonging to M5Shell.dll.
Manually running "regsvr32 M5Shell.dll" failed (this self-register step failed
in setup too - silently)
When the dll is loaded and the initialization routines are run, the protector
decrypts several PE sections in memory.
One of them is the .rsrc section.
Due to the way wine implements the LOAD_LIBRARY_AS_DATAFILE flag, it fails.
The dll is mapped as "data file" into memory (receives its own base address).
At that point all crucial PE sections are encrypted.
Remember: only when dll initializers are run, either by explicit entry or TLS
callbacks they get properly decrypted.
When Find/LoadResource is applied to the newly loaded dll it finds useless stuff
(of course the data is encrypted).
It dies then.
Offending code:
--- snip dlls/kernel32/module.c ---
static HMODULE load_library( const UNICODE_STRING *libname, DWORD flags )
{
NTSTATUS nts;
HMODULE hModule;
WCHAR *load_path;
if (flags & LOAD_LIBRARY_AS_DATAFILE)
{
/* The method in load_library_as_datafile allows searching for the
* 'native' libraries only
*/
if (load_library_as_datafile( libname->Buffer, &hModule )) return hModule;
flags |= DONT_RESOLVE_DLL_REFERENCES; /* Just in case */
/* Fallback to normal behaviour */
}
load_path = MODULE_get_dll_load_path( flags & LOAD_WITH_ALTERED_SEARCH_PATH
? libname->Buffer : NULL );
nts = LdrLoadDll( load_path, flags, libname, &hModule );
HeapFree( GetProcessHeap(), 0, load_path );
if (nts != STATUS_SUCCESS)
{
hModule = 0;
SetLastError( RtlNtStatusToDosError( nts ) );
}
return hModule;
}
--- snip dlls/kernel32/module.c ---
To work around this problem, LOAD_LIBRARY_AS_DATAFILE shall not use
load_library_as_datafile() (CreateFileMappingW/MapViewOfFile).
A quick fix is to comment out "if (load_library_as_datafile( libname->Buffer,
&hModule )) return hModule;" to fall back to standard loader mechanism (of
course imports are already resolved and init routines are run).
That way the application/protector can find its resources and succeed.
With that patch applied, morpheus starts up fine.
There are many applications in the wild which use ASPack/ASProtect and other
protectors which encrypt resource/data sections.
So this information probably applies to other bug reports too.
Regards

3. If after first login failure I retry with the same username (typing it by
hand or selecting "<<<<" from the ComboBox list), then after the second failure
item "<<<<" starts appearing in the list twice.
4. During next Skype launch I see these items aren't remembered and the list is
empty.
All this happens with winver set to 2000. If I set winver to 98, the bug is
worked around. Plus:
5, then "saulius2" appears in the list not corrupted.
6, after some unsuccessful tries to login (I purposely use wrong password) it
doesn't appear here in a multiple count.
7, the username is remembered for a next Skype launch.
8, if I switch winver back to 2000, then "saulius2" appears in the list not
corrupted at startup. But when I select it, the CombBox draws me only "s"
string. And with it drawn I am unable to login again.
Waiting for debug suggestions.

I currently partition and install some others distros on my system to see if

I plan to reinstall a fresh edgy with no system updates, a feisty and maybe a

AJ, +loaddll shows no "riched20.dll" in the output, so I guess it is not
richedit component to blame. I have two additional notes.
1. After successful login Skype remembered my username "saulius2" in its
ComboBox (?) list. So during another launch Skype showed this username
correctly in the ComboBox (before 0667292e..). But exactly at 0667292e.. commit
Skype showed only "s" or "s " in the ComboBox. The username got truncated (?).
2. With wine-0.9.37 I enter the same username and (when loggin in fails) I see
only "<<<<" item in the ComboBox list. Then if I clear entered username and
select the "<<<<" item from the list, I get my normal "saulius2" in the ComboBox
again. Some wrong string conversion to Unicode (?) and back.
All this suggests me about some Unicode/Ascii mixed stuff handling. Tell me,
please, what debug channels or another measures should I try using to debug this?

Wine 0.9.37 seems to have fixed the remaining issues with eMule's web interface.
Localhost sessions serve all images for me now, although I did have to enable
JavaScript in one of my test browsers which normally has JavaScript disabled,
because otherwise it behaves as I described above. This makes me wonder if the
same localhost-specific issue also exists on native Windows installations of
eMule when JavaScript is disabled in the user's web browser.
Another user on the eMule forums also reports not experiencing this bug with
Wine 0.9.37.
So unless someone out there is still having the localhost problem, I believe
this bug can finally be marked resolved/fixed. :)

The patch introduces a lot of code duplication, this needs more work, probably
by separating common code paths into a common function.
> (Still no clues on the RUSSIAN_CHARSET ok()...)
This needs to be fixed too.

I usually play World of Warcraft with tvtime running on my other monitor. I can
flip channels without a problem on 0.9.36 or earlier releases of WINE. Starting
with 0.9.37 if I try to flip channels WoW will freeze. If I look in my terminal
there's a bunch of Wine crash data.
Happens in either D3D or OpenGL render modes.
I have a nVidia 7950gt with the latest 9755 driver installed. The only thing
that changed was the version of Wine.

Another thing to try, run regedit, go to:
HKCU -> Software -> Wine -> Direct3D
Set the OffscreenRenderingMode key to the value "fbo", "backbuffer" and "pbo" in
turn, trying the game in each mode.
Good luck!

I found something out by accident that could be potentially useful.
The game crashes as per this bug in every resolution except one - 1280x1024
fullscreen mode.
Normally I play/test the game in windowed mode at 1600x1200, however when I
switched to 1280x1024 fullscreen mode it was fine (I tested long range headshots
on de_dust several times with no crashing).
1600x1200 fullscreen still crashes and so does 1280x1024 windowed.
If it helps, my normal desktop resolution is 2880x1200 with Nvidia's xinerama
extension.

Just like the summary says. type uninstaller on the command line and IMVU is
not listed.
To make it perfectly clear, this is not a problem with the IMVU uninstaller.
This is a problem with the WINE uninstaller program located at
~/wine-git/programs/uninstaller
It does not look thru the Current User key for uninstall information. The
program is perfectly uninstallable from any uninstall shortcut or if you type
the command to uninstall this program on the command line.
To reproduce: Download IMVU from imvu.com
Install it
Open a console session and type 'uninstaller' if you have BINFMT_MISC or 'wine
uninstaller' if you dont.
Look at the list. IMVU is not listed there.
Close that program, and open regedit.
Navigate to HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Uninstall
Look at the only subkey there.. It is IMVU

Hi, someone struggled with this on IRC channel, and i foiuld it's a regression
between wine-0.9.28 and wine-0.9.30. Steps to reproduce:
1. Start the app (takes a long time, it seems to hang, but doesn't)
2. Push key F4 (transform editor window will appear)
3. Hoover over the button for example with the eyeball, it says: "Flip triangle
vertically" whereas it should say "Show hide variation preview". Looks like all
buttons shifted to the left...

You can look at dlls/ddraw/tests/dsurface.c to write a test that tests a ddsd
structure with size 0 and see what error windows returns.
The ddraw rewrite broke quite a number of things, so both apps breaking
because of it doesn't say anyting. Also the "initializin graphics" is way to
generic to be meaninful.
I can write a test for that too, but I am busy at university at the moment,
and currently I am testing multithreading in directdraw, and I don't want to
interrupt that, so you'd have to wait some time.
Anyway, assigning to me so I don't forget about it.

EU2 and Victoria are developed by the same people and the basic foundation
is the same. Hearts of iron I and II, crusader kings also comes derives
from the same source.
However, after filing this bug I realised that Hearts of Iron II works
nicely (Except for performance bug 3818 and graphical glitches bug 7934)
so the internal might be more different than I expected.
But Europa Universalis II and Victoria both crash after the ddraw rewrite, so I
would guess it is the same bug that causes it. Both games crashes when
they do "Initalizing graphics", so it definitly looks very alike.
Unfortunally there is no demo available. Atleast I'm not aware of any.
I'm always willing to do testing. I'm writing C for a living, but
I know next to nothing about directx.
By the way bug 3818 also includes lots of
"0009:err:ddraw:IDirectDrawSurfaceImpl_GetSurfaceDesc Impossible/Strange struct
size 0" prints.

For the record, here's how to repeat:
0. make sure you have wine-0.9.37 or later
1. rm -rf ~/.wine
2. wine /media/cdrom/setup.exe (or whatever it's called)
3. when the installer prompts for the 2nd disc, go
to another window and run "wine eject" if just pressing
the button doesn't let go of the disc
4. after the install finishes, do
wget http://kegel.com/wine/winetricks
sh winetricks fakeie6 dcom98
5. download word 97 viewer from
http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,6314-order,1-page,1-c,wordprocess…
and install it.
6. finally, do
wine natspeak.exe
The above is from memory, so there might be some typos, sorry...

+msi,+msidb is pretty big, so I put it up at
http://kegel.com/wine/autocad2002.log.rz
I should mention two other nits for posterity: the Setup.exe
at the root of the cd starts up ok, but
of its four buttons ("Browse CD", "Read Ebook", "Links", "Exit")
only "Exit" works as intended. Presumably you're
supposed to click on "Browse CD", navigate to
Software/AutoCAD 2002 Trial, and run SETUP.EXE there.
That launches your browser on a web page,
file:///media/cdrom0/Software/AutoCAD%202002%20Trial/index.htm
which uses an iframe to show the contents of SOURCE/TRIAL/BATCH,
and that doesn't display as expected in firefox.
All that does is launch ../build/setup.exe, and that relative path
only works if the current directory is right.
Whew. Hence, to test the installer, the easiest commandline is
wine /media/cdrom/Software/AutoCAD\ 2002\ Trial/SOURCE/TRIAL/BUILD/SETUP.EXE

Date: Wed May 17 13:55:36 2006 +0200
user: Support storing multiple winprocs in a single winproc handle.
Allows to remove special cases for window classes being Ascii and
Unicode at the same time.
AJ, could this commit be a cause of the regression, or does it just exposes some

The right way to make things easier for Windows users is not to improve the
command line, if they are using the command line at all they will be massively
confused no matter what the Wine usage says. The right way is to provide menus,
autoruns, exe associations etc. so that they never have to touch the command line.

thanks for your comment.
I am aware of how linux/unix works , I've been using it for 10yrs, this was not
a personal request.
My suggestion is that your target audience for Wine are likely to be less
familiar.
If the best point of reference is man wine or a full documentation on how to
use wien is available on line, let's say so. It's hardly breaking the rules to
a one line like:
for more detail use man wine command or visit http://winehq.org/.....
One gets the feeling that the current attitude to a new user is "we're not here
to teach you how to use linux so if you're too dumb to sort it out we sure
arn't going to tell you. It's not our job."
Is that really the migration path you have been working so hard to provide for
over ten years?

The standard behavior for a Unix command is to print a short usage message when
called with --help. If you want a complete description, with examples and doc
references, you use 'man wine'. That's the way all Unix commands work.

Hello,
dealing with the real installer "update/update.exe".
Just a hint: the installer places a log file under $WINDIR/KB842773.log
After accepting EULA, it comes up with error messagebox "The update.ver file is
not correct".
The reason is the way wine setupapi currently handles .inf files.

Wine is too strict here.
The windows installer uses setupapi to parse ini-style files, which doesnt
contain the "[Version]" section.
Windows setupapi accepts this.
To fix this, dont set "ERROR_WRONG_INF_STYLE" if section not found.
If you really need to, set this error inside the "version index case", section
format/parse error whatever.
After fixing this, the installer goes futher and stops again.

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa377390.aspx says:
"[in] Optional pointer to a null-terminated string containing the filename (no
path) for which to return the full source location. This parameter can be NULL,
but either FileName or InfContext must be specified."
Another undocumented behaviour.
The installer supplies an empty string as "filename" argument which wine doesnt
handle.
To fix this (handle empty string case):
--- snip dlls/setupapi/query.c ---
BOOL WINAPI SetupGetSourceFileLocationA( HINF hinf, PINFCONTEXT context, PCSTR
filename,
PUINT source_id, PSTR buffer, DWORD
buffer_size,
PDWORD required_size )
{
...
if (filename && *filename != '\0' && !(filenameW = strdupAtoW( filename )))
return FALSE;
...
}
--- snip dlls/setupapi/query.c ---
After fixing this, the installer goes further and stops again with "general
failure".

0011:Ret setupapi.SetupScanFileQueueA() retval=00000000 ret=0106504d
--- snip trace ---
Well, due to SetupScanFileQueueA() being a stub it wont go further.
A quick fix (just to get this installer to go on) is to return "TRUE":
--- snip dlls/setupapi/queue.c ---
BOOL WINAPI SetupScanFileQueueA( HSPFILEQ queue, DWORD flags, HWND window,
PSP_FILE_CALLBACK_A callback, PVOID context,
PDWORD result )
{
FIXME("stub\n");
return TRUE;
}
--- snip dlls/setupapi/queue.c ---
This doesnt cause any harm (at least for the installer) though a real
implementation would be better (to pass callback notifcations on node walk).
With this "hack" applied is goes on and *really* dies due to unimplemented API
functions:
--- snip trace ---

Although undocumented this is not an obstacle for me .. as usual :-)

}
/***********************************************************************

BOOL WINAPI pSetupSetQueueFlags( HSPFILEQ handle, DWORD flags )
{
struct file_queue *queue = handle;
if( queue)
{
queue->flags = flags;
}
return( queue != NULL);
}
--- snip dlls/setupapi/queue.c ---

--- snip dlls/setupapi/setupapi.spec ---
..
@ stdcall pSetupGetQueueFlags(ptr)
..
@ stdcall pSetupSetQueueFlags(ptr long)
--- snip dlls/setupapi/setupapi.spec ---
After adding the missing APIs the installer lives again.
It finally stops with error "Failed to install catalog files".
--- snip KB842773.log ---

--- snip trace ---
Well, this is where my journey currently ends.
Implementing this requires more wintrust/crypt infrastructure which is currently
worked on.
A quick hack would require changes in several places (which i have not the time).
So you have to wait until wintrust crypt catalog management gets polished up...
Hope you enjoyed it a bit :-)

Hello,
--- quote ---
Anastasius, I'm not trying to work around using the installer to get the service
running. I'm trying to find the exact steps and workarounds needed to make the
installer complete successfully.
--- quote ---
Ok, i was under impression someone wanted to get that BITS stuff running :)
Technically, this installer (.exe) is a self extracting cab (sfx).
One can verify this with "cabextract" or any other .cab tool.
After extraction you have "_sfx_manifest_", "_sfx_.dll" and "*._p" files.
The manifest is just an ini file which describes the actions to be taken by
differential patcher.
"_sfx_.dll" is mspatcha.dll (Microsoft patching API).
"*._p" are just files in Windows Installer 3.x differential patch format
(Microsoft, magic "PA19")
Some time ago, i wrote a little tool which parses the patcher manifest, loads
the M$ patch API dll and calls it with necessary info to extract all patches.
Afterwards the sub-installer "./update/update.exe" is run to carry out the real
update (described in .inf file).
Ok, this was a bit off-topic :-)
Your steps can be simplified.
--- quote ---
1) rename .wine/drive_c -> .wine/harddiskvolume1 and fixup dosdevices
--- quote ---
Too intrusive.
For installation a better way is to use two temporary symlinks
This doesnt affect/break other wine stuff while installing.
cd "$WINEPREFIX"
ln -s "drive_c" "harddisk"
cd "$WINEPREFIX/dosdevices"
ln -s "../harddisk" "$DRIVE"
The installer just scans drives a: .. z: for dos device name containing
"harddisk" substring.
Take an unused drive letter and symlink it, effectively pointing to drive_c
after both symlinks are resolved.
After installation both symlinks can be easily removed (by script).
--- quote ---
2) copy c:\windows\system32\CatRoot* from Windows to Wine
--- quote ---
No need for any windows stuff to be copied.
Just fake the windows components catalog directory:
mkdir -p
"$WINEPREFIX/drive_c/windows/system32/CatRoot/{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}"
and put at least a fake *.cat file into it (can be empty, doesnt have to be a
valid one).
echo >
"$WINEPREFIX/drive_c/windows/system32/CatRoot/{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}/oem0.cat"
--- quote ---
3) Set version to Win XP in winecfg
4) Open regedit and change
HKLM\Systems\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows\CSDVersion from 0x200 to 0x100
--- quote ---
Ok, can be done by script too (like winetricks).
--- quote ---
5) Copy native hal.dll, schannel.dll, shdocvw.dll to system32
--- quote ---
No need for windows components.
The installer checks for "$WINEPREFIX/drive_c/windows/system32/hal.dll" version
resource.
Any valid PE with version resource (even wines placeholder ones) will do.
cp "$WINEPREFIX/drive_c/windows/system32/kernel32.dll"
"$WINEPREFIX/drive_c/windows/system32/hal.dll"
(after installation fake hal.dll can be removed).
With these steps, the real update-installer is finally started (though it comes
with error after you agree to EULA).
Dealing with the real installer will be part of my next post.
Regards

'fixme:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_CreateAdditionalSwapChain The app requests more
than one back buffer, this can't be supported properly. Please configure the
application to use double buffering(=1 back buffer) if possible.'
And during the actual game there are lots of
'fixme:d3d_draw:depth_copy Not supported with fixed up depth stencil'.
I've tried using fbo, backbuffer and pbuffer outputs. Only fbo and backbuffer
goes to menu.
I cannot find the way to configure LOTR for Double Buffering.

I ran this again using an x11 connection i'm piping to my windows desktop with
the command "wineconsole --backend=user Tribes.exe -dedicated" and it actually
runs the server quite well. I even had it open a port for a telnet connection,
which it did flawlessly. However, the connection it opens for the actual game
to run a server is not opened. I have replicated this problem across a number
of builds of Wine, including 0.9.37...
I ran the application using the following command:
./wine-0.9.37/programs/wineconsole/wineconsole --backend=user Tribes.exe -dedicated
The only output I got to the shell was:
fixme:winsock:WS_getsockopt IPX_ADDRESS
The application itself worked quite well outside of the fact that it did not
open a port...
This seems to be a bug.

Many thanks to Clinton Stimpson and Jacek Caban for the fix.
As reporter of this bug, I have verified the fix in released 0.9.37, and I
believe it should be moved to CLOSED state. In other domains, the reporter of
the bug has usually been the one to mark the bug as CLOSED. However, the bug
life cycle document here says QA should do that operation.
What, if anything, should I as reporter do to get this one on its way to being
marked as CLOSED.

I, too, noted this problem prior to 0.9.36, but not in that version. I believe
the bug is fixed.

Further analysis of this bug seems to be that it's a case of focus being in the
wrong place - even though the search field text is blinking, entered characters
are actually going into the search RESULTS below. You can see this behavior by
having a long search results list, and hitting a few characters - the program
will then jump to the alphabetical index of the characters you hit, rather than
typing them.

Still present in 0.9.37.
James - it's just the same behaviour in a local bot server as an online or local
server with real people.

When clicking on the "emailstripper" icon I receive this message. I have to
right click and select "open with Wine" which does work. Message which shows is
as below. Searched but could not find a reference to it
Thanks
The filename "emailstripper.exe" indicates that this file is of type
"executable". The contents of the file indicate that the file is of type
"DOS/Windows executable". If you open this file, the file might present a
security risk to your system.
Do not open the file unless you created the file yourself, or received the file
from a trusted source. To open the file, rename the file to the correct
extension for "DOS/Windows executable", then open the file normally.
Alternatively, use the Open With menu to choose a specific application for the
file.

Summary: Battle for Middle-Earth crashes

OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ryanshow(a)gmail.com
Upon installing Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle Earth, I upgraded the
game to version 1.03 and installed the NO-CD patch. The game appears to load
fine at first, and displays the opening video sequences, but upon finishing the
video sequence, it crashes giving the errors attached below. I'm using a copy
of GIT as of May 11, 2007, and my video card information is at
http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=6271&action=view Also, I'm using
kernel 2.6.20-ck
As for my wine configuration, I have "Allow Pixel Shaders" checked and "Vertex
Shader Support" set to hardware. The game crashes in the same spot if I have
GLSL enabled or not.
