Fix offset in OnDataAvailable call.
Thanks for finding it out. Unfortunately your patch is wrong. This->readed must
be updated before OnDataAvailable call because This->nsstream->buf_size is
zeroed later. Please try if attached patch helps.
Btw, to test utf-16 encoded page you can run
wine iexplore about:blank
and check if the page is really blank.

Actually, I think it's a bug in WoW and not wine. One that only appears if only
one pixelformat is available (basically an off-by-one bug). Sine we can't expect
blizzard to fix or even look into it, you'll have to wait until the window
handling code in winex11.drv is fixed, because I think Thunderbird said that
once the opengl child window problem is resolved, he'll add more pixelformats,
which will 'fix' this bug :)

Hi Folks,
I'm Running wine-0.9.35 and Eve Online Version 3.14.31460 on my gentoo-box with
kernel 2.6.19
EvE started to get a HUGE Memory Leak. It only takes about five to ten minutes
until my system runs out of memory.. I have 1gig ram and 1 gig swap space ...
this should be and was enough.
Please reconsider this bug.
Thank.
Best Regards
Matthias Strubel

Just an update with pre0.9.36...
Using FBO mode makes the game too slow to use, it renders at about 0.2fps, maybe
less. Using whatever is default causes a giant texture to cover everything as
you look down. The more you look up the more it disappears (but you can't run
around looking at the sky else you can't see what you're doing anyway).

I think you talking about broken Ubuntu packages. I'm not sure if they are fixed
or not. You can recompile them - because they are missing support for xrander
and Wine uses XVidMode - exactly what you describing.
Oh and btw DXGRAB never really worked (only for old old ddraw games).

That might be correct. The old GetFileSecurity() was returning full access to
everyone. The NtQuerySecurityObject() returns full access for admins only and
read-only access for everyone (see comments for that function).
However Dan, this is a totally different problem from the original. So please
let's close this bug and move into the bug 8164 for now.

Hello,
--- quote ---
After I got MDAC, and the other required software, loaded, I now receive a
different error message: OLE error 80040154.
--- quote ---
Please run using WINEDEBUG=+tid,+seh,+loaddll,+ole
and attach last 1000 lines (tail before that error)
Interrupt ^C when you think it came to the error and starts repeating.
Do not include useless "fixme:process:SetProcessWorkingSetSize (0xac,-1,-1):
stub - harmless" messages. Just tail at the last useful trace output.

Hello,
the current stub impl is just to fix the crash. Yes, it does *nothing*.
As I already stated in bug 8094 : it requires significant more work to get
"OpenAs" implemented.

since IMHO app shouldn't depend on a tool it was developed with during a runtime.

Please do not attach mfc42.dll to this bug report.
Doing so might violate the license agreement.
mfc42.dll should only be redistributed
in conjunction with a windows application.
Sites like dll-files.com which allow it
to be downloaded for free are also in violation,
and should be avoided.

Just curious, what sort of graphics card does everyone have who are experiencing
this problem? I've got two systems with ATi cards (one is an ATi Mobility Radeon
9600 Pro Turbo, the other is an ATi X800 Pro AGP) and one with an Nvidia card
(BFG Geforce FX5200 128Mb). The Nvidia card is the only one I haven't had any
problems out of, as far as this bug is concerned. I followed the same paths on
all three systems, and the "concurrently active lights" error only occurred on
the ATi systems.

Well, GeForce 7300GS with nVidia proprietary drivers (version 9755). Playing
EverQuest 1 and what clued me in was that "fixme:d3d:state_wrap
(WINED3DRS_WRAP0) Texture wraping not yet supported" gets spammed to the console
while playing, with terrain textures disappearing (spending most of their time
not visible). It's not listed in the FIXMEs, so I posted it here. I'd post a
whole log of the session but it's pretty long and consists almost entirely of
"fixme:d3d:state_wrap (WINED3DRS_WRAP0) Texture wraping not yet supported".

Also what makes you say that "texture wrapping is not implemented"? Screen-shot
and code demonstrating the problem will do. Unless you just guessing, then

Maybe it should be listed as "Texture wrapping is not implemented" - it's not a
bug so much as a TODO. I wanted something tangible linked to EverQuest and
other games that need texture wrapping, though. Also, I'm on x86_64, although I
set architecture to "all" because it's simply not implemented yet.

Microsoft will send a trial version on DVD-ROM upon request.
The first hurdle is that setup.exe exits silently if
it thinks MSIE4 isn't installed. winetricks fakeie6
takes care of that.
A cosmetic glitch is that the cursor turns to crap when
you click 'install'. I'm going to ignore that for now,
but it's bad enough to distract real users.
The second hurdle is that it tries
to install mdac 2.8, and fails. Running winetricks mdac28
twice, and then the app's installer twice, takes care of that.
(See bug 5428; mdac 2.8 fails the first time through.)
The next hurdle is that it tries to install dotnet 1.1.
(See bug 5358.) This fails with great gusto. I'll attach
the +msi log file for amusement purposes only; the
real discussion for that belongs in bug 5358.

After I got MDAC, and the other required software, loaded, I now receive a
different error message: OLE error 80040154. I received the below error
messages. The last message keeps repeating itself until I close the shell I
started wine in.
I tarred and gzipped the Nav-U disk (actual size 3713710013). I found demo
of the software; no code. How large of a file can I upload? I could remove the
maps and other documents, you would not have anything to test with. Here are
two web sites that has some information on Nav-U.

More nitpicking than anything but i've seen this since for quite a while so I
figured to put it as a bug. This in no way affects PokerStars itself; it still
runs and connects perfectly. I can still play money and fake money games with no
problems. That said, under Network Status, it cannot look for any host or cannot
ping the servers listed and therefore lists the servers as a bad connection.
Under Windows, it can ping them perfectly and brings back good results. I'll
post screenshots and see if konsole logs anything about this issue.

The MS documentation explicitly notes that EM_STREAMIN is not limited in some
cases. Apparently, neither is EM_SETTEXTEX.
By the way, implementing the EN_MAXTEXT notification didn't help PAF show all
the text.

Nah, he's saying that maybe Wine needs to tell PAF
that the limit has been hit so the app can tell
richedit to expand its limit. (I guess.)
It would be useful to see if the EN_MAXTEXT message
actually gets sent in PAF 5 running under Windows.
A tool like http://www.windows-spy.com/
can be used to investigate this.

Are you saying the 32K limit is intended? If so, that produces an unexpected
and highly indesirable difference in behavior between PAF 5 in XP vs. PAF 5 in
Wine. This issue was originally reported as a user-visible behavior
difference found by Sam Foit. PAF 5 will happily import blocks of more than 32K
of text from inside a GEDCOM file. The only known point at which there is a
problem is in the edit panel. I would argue that to maintain user-visible
compatibility between XP and Wine on a given application, the edit panel needs
to be able to handle much more than 32K.

Summary: IL-2 Sturmovik under wine -> mouse not working
Product: Wine

Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-dinput
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: bbaeyens(a)gmail.com
Fresh install of Ubuntu Feisty with wine 0.9.35 (installed through Automatix2).
Tried running IL-2 Sturmovik (1946) under wine, it starts, but the mouse pointer
does not move. The game does respond to key inputs, so its not frozen. Console
shows nothing special.
I tried running the game full screen, windowed, I tried some tricks like alt
tabbing in and out, sending the window to another viewpoint, changing mouse
settings in winecgf nothing cures it. It worked fine with ubuntu Edgy and wine
0.9.30.
In case it matters, I use a wireless USB logitech MX Revolution mouse, with no
special configuration or tweaking. The same problem occurs when I connect a
wired Logitech MX500.
It might be interesting to note such mouse behaviour under windows is also a
known issue when IL2 looses focus, and requires one to alt tab in and out of the
game to regain a working mouse pointer. I suspect this problem should be
reproducable on the very old IL2 demo, downloadable here:

this is due to the technical nature of wine.
Basically the debugger can't read/disassemble the memory location of the current
EIP.
Remember: Wine is a different beast, not a "pure" windows PE user process
environment.
The suspended threads EIP is very likely in ELF/thunk/syscall area - this
address space is usually not seen by windows usermode debugger (using process
APIs, mapped views/virtual queries).
Single step/over (F7/F8), look at EIP and you will notice it changes.
The 0x8000004 exceptions in console each time you step are the debuggers single
step event/exception.
Open "memory" window and compare EIP range.
If you see EIP pointing to an area not being mapped as memory range, it's
probably executing in ELF/thunk/syscall area.
It happens in various situations, for instance if you instruct the debugger to
"break on new modules" event.
It will always stop in ELF code.
Resolution:
1) single /step/over/run until return/ to get the EIP into mapped range.
The disassembly will appear again and all is fine.
2) open the "excutable modules" window and click any PE module - it will show
disassembly again (though EIP remains in ELF code).
3) put breakpoints on imports that will be executed first
(after debuggee was paused due to dll loader event)
It's nasty, i know ...
Though i retired from ollydbg/win32asm/RCE community long time ago, i will of
course help/explain any issues regarding this fine piece of software :)

and was fixed around the time of 0.9.31.

So, I will participate as describer then.
First DWORD of stream is ATL version (0x800 or such). pMap array describe
meaning of stream remainder.
pMap element with NULL pclsidPropPage marks end of array; elements with NULL
szDesc must be ignored. Rest elements are either:
1) raw data – dwSizeData bytes must be read from stream to an object pointed by
pThis at offset dwOffsetData. However, if this entry describe BSTR, when in the
stream there are DWORD - string length in bytes, followed by string itself. In
this case pointer to SysAllocString-allocated BSTR must be written to the object.
2) Property – if dwSizeData is zero. In this case serialized VARIANT property is
read from stream (CComVariant::ReadFromString way, IÂ’ll describe it later);
variant type must be equal to pMapÂ’s vt, unless it is VT_EMPTY. piidDispatch is
IID of interface (which must derive from IDispatch) to put property to, and
dispid is obviously property id.
Implementation does not care for endianness.
VARIANT serialized as follows:
1) VARTYPE
2) Raw data for simple types (1, 2, 4 or 8 bytes); prepared for
OleLoadFromStream data in case of VT_UNKNOWN or VT_DISPATCH; or BSTR serialized
as described earlier.

Hello,
ah i was about to post that bug in AtlModuleGetClassObject() too (i had done
same modification earlier).
After i cleaned up my source tree, i realized both patches are necessary to work
around :)
For the AtlIPersistStreamInit_Load() issue you might just provide stubs.
That ATL PersistStream stuff should belong in its own module ...
--- snip dlls/atl/atl_main.c ---
HRESULT WINAPI AtlIPersistStreamInit_Load( LPSTREAM pStm, void* pMap,
void* pThis, IUnknown* pUnk)
{
FIXME("(%p, %p, %p, %p)\n", pStm, pMap, pThis, pUnk);
/* NOTE: pMap is ATL_PROPMAP_ENTRY */
return S_OK;
}
HRESULT WINAPI AtlIPersistStreamInit_Save(LPSTREAM pStm, BOOL fClearDirty,
void* pMap, void* pThis, IUnknown* pUnk)
{
FIXME("(%p, %d, %p, %p, %p)\n", pStm, fClearDirty, pMap, pThis, pUnk);
/* NOTE: pMap is ATL_PROPMAP_ENTRY */
return S_OK;
}
--- snip dlls/atl/atl_main.c ---
and
--- snip dlls/atl/atl.spec ---
50 stdcall AtlIPersistStreamInit_Load(ptr ptr ptr ptr)
51 stdcall AtlIPersistStreamInit_Save(ptr long ptr ptr ptr)
--- snip dlls/atl/atl.spec ---
Returning S_OK should do it for now. If you return E_FAIL, the app just exists.

No. We shouldn't really look at the Microsoft source. Clean-room engineering practice is for one person to
describe what the original code does and another person to code their interpretation of the described
code.

Better filtering of hardware messages to avoid returning messages that

Hello,
--- quote ---
Could you please provide +relay,+atl log?
--- quote ---
Not necessary, already found it.
Caused by a bug in wine ATL AtlInternalQueryInterface() implementation.
Getting a patch from following information into git is left to you :)
--- snip dlls/atl/atl_main.c ---
HRESULT WINAPI AtlInternalQueryInterface(void* this, const _ATL_INTMAP_ENTRY*
pEntries, REFIID iid, void** ppvObject)
{
int i = 0;

if (IsEqualGUID(iid,&IID_IUnknown))
{
TRACE("Returning IUnknown\n");
*ppvObject = this;
IUnknown_AddRef((IUnknown*)this);
return S_OK;
}
....
--- snip dlls/atl/atl_main.c ---
The code to get the first interface (e.g. client says "give me IUnknown") is wrong.
And you should really validate [out] param...
--- snip dlls/atl/atl_main.c ---
HRESULT WINAPI AtlInternalQueryInterface(void* this, const _ATL_INTMAP_ENTRY*
pEntries, REFIID iid, void** ppvObject)
{
int i = 0;
HRESULT rc = E_NOINTERFACE;
TRACE("(%p, %p, %p, %p)\n",this, pEntries, iid, ppvObject);
if (ppvObject == NULL)
return E_POINTER;
*ppvObject = NULL;
/* first interface (IUnknown) requested by client? */
if (IsEqualGUID(iid,&IID_IUnknown))
{
TRACE("Returning IUnknown\n");
*ppvObject = (IUnknown*)((int)this+pEntries->dw);
IUnknown_AddRef((IUnknown*)*ppvObject);
return S_OK;
}
...
--- snip dlls/atl/atl_main.c ---
Now it works as expected.
Though the software crashes later (due to other issues).

responding to comment #78,
Using the web fonts from Microsoft works (I've done it already), because it will
replace the problematic font. But it doesn't really address the actual bug.

No you can not mount the ISO and run programs from it!
You have to treat Wine as a complete _empty_ PC. Where you have to install each
piece of software you want to run.
If you insist, you will have to prove that you _can_ run this software the same
way on windows (any windows of your choice).
