No, you are wrong about that. The iso is mounted rw, with the following options:
vfat loop,offset=32256,uid=1000,gid=1000
I can successfully create files, edit them, and delete them within the image.
What do you mean "install the program properly on wine"? I do not have the
original install media (floppies have either been lost or trashed) so I cannot
just reinstall.

Summary: P-CAD drawings printing issue

ReportedBy: c-h(a)mail.ru
Hm... I don't now whether I need to write here or to CUPS team... I have problem
when I print PCB from P-CAD (but other apps under wine works similarly). Each
line taken out to printer, printed as small rectangle. But P-CAD, while building
up polyline, imply that each line terminated by semicircle. Due this trouble all
chains seems ragged and such drawings not possible to use for PCB manufacturing.
I try to print to PS-printer (Ricoh Aficio 2016), CUPS-PDF, and get formed
PS-file from spooler directory - all three drawings seems identical. Printing
from P-CAD to PS-file under WinXP works normally.

Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.35.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: rm.riches(a)verizon.net
While working on bug #8156, it was discovered that Wine's notepad fails to fully
display a long (>32K) file. Also, cursor movement is incorrect near the bottom
of what it does display. I'm told there are problems selecting text near the
end of the displayed part of the file if word wrap is enabled.
There should be 30 "verses" displayed. In my case, less than five are displayed.
The root cause of this bug may be related to or the same as that of bug #8156.
The test file is already posted as an attachment to bug #8156:

Bug 8033 I think documents this same behavior for a newer version

Verification of SetupQueryRegisteredOsComponent prototype/stub impl
Hello,
the discussion regarding syssetup.dll.SetupQueryRegisteredOsComponent caught my
interest :)
Attached is an extended test case (originating from developer thread) which
contains the meaning of parameter/struct member data revealed (struct layout)
and a working implementation.
It could serve as sample for dozen other syssetup.dll api exports belonging to
this category (Register/Unregister/SetRegistered/Enumerate OS Setup
Components).
Both versions of this export (native windows and the impl) are compared against
each other to ensure the data returned is really at right place.
All struct member data is read from registry.
There is no magic involved (as implied in developer thread).
Only the "unused"/"reserved" fields at the tail of each struct gave me some
headache, but i came to conclusion it's just garbage from temporary stack copy
(see comments inside code).
Regards

Ben,
This bug is for this specific error message caused by the dload program:
"Hey guys"
"We got a big error here :("
The script may crash, I don't know, but it has nothing to do with this bug. This
script is independent of wine so it can't be a wine bug. (You can crash windows
too doing something similar). All I can say is that my old script I used years
ago used to work. I don't use the cracks anymore because copy protection now
works. :D
PS Some fixed-exes are buggy too and crash anyway and we can't do anything about
them.

We have already addressed the loader program to death. I'm not familiar with
this bug number, but I do believe the error message having to deal with the

any other issue with the loader, it's covered in bug 3978.

Okay, I finally got it to work. What I did was I had to fiddle around with the
disk and finally figured out that if I open another new tab in my terminal
window, and reran the winefile d:\\ then double clicked autorun, went back to
the install window and hit "yes" again that it accepted the disk. Very strange,
I'll see if this continues to work.-+

I tried your suggestions James but the same problem still occurs. It asks me
"Please insert disk 2 into tray?" I click "Yes" and the same dialog pops up
again and does nothing. I also get exactly the same debug output.
Also, no one was ever clear about what the terminology is supposed to mean, so I
guessed what "regression" and "blocker" had meant.

A few things:
* Make sure /media/cdrecorder is set up in winecfg as a cdrom drive.
* Don't run windows executables with an absolute unix path (wine
/media/cdrecorder/Autorun.exe)
* Use 'winefile d:\\' (where d is the drive letter of the cd drive) and then run
setup.exe, Autorun.exe

Severity: blocker

I only believe this to be a regression of the installer. But basically what
happens is, I am installing the game and once it comes to the part where it
needs the second disk, it brings that dialog up asking for it. I go into my
gnome-terminal window and make a new tabe and issue the command "wine eject".
When I do so, the disk ejects and I insert the second disk. But when I go back
to the installer and I hit "Yes" to retry and probe for the second disk, it does
nothing. It simply flickers for a quick second like its doing something and
brings the dialog back up. Its very frustrating and I've searched for solutions
and wasnt able to find any.

Hello,
while playing with some application, i needed to install native ie6sp1 (not just
fake with winetricks).
Doesnt work, now crashes in installer (ie6wzd.exe).
I remember this has worked before?
Some debugging revealed that modules are unloaded due to CoUninitialize.
COM interface method calls cause access violations because the inproc server is
already unloaded/dead.
In this specific case: native install engine, inseng.dll, IID_IInstall
Explicit wine dll override of inseng.dll produces same result.
All tested on clean install (rm -rf .wine)
wine-0.9.35-140-g452f728

You might argue that all Ole Init and Uninit calls are apartment-wise balanced,
therefore the unload of installer engine due to apartment release in
CoUninitialize() is valid.
This is not the way windows handles inproc server/module refcounts...
The global COM reference count is still > 1 (due to first CoInitializeEx() call,
see tid=0009) (independent of apartments).
For proof i wrote a small test client which shows same behaviour as the ie6
installer.
Will follow in next attachment.
Such code is not that uncommon...
The ol32 maintainer might consider COMPOBJ_DllList_ReleaseRef()
(apartment_release, ...) honour s_COMLockCount...
Though this change might require more testing :)

The easiest way to install the prerequisites is now
wget http://kegel.com/wine/winetricks
sh winetricks fakeie6 vbrun60 mdac27
If you get the error
Unhandled exception: unimplemented function
syssetup.dll.SetupQueryRegisteredOsComponent called in 32-bit code (0x7ee5cc68).
while installing mdac, you can work around it by removing syssetup.dll.so.
The problem still occurs with current wine.

So, do we want to interface with cifs (if available) to mount remote shares?
This will probably be the way to go with named pipes. I'm still busy with taking
in all the information around winbind and some other Samba features, but if I'm
bit more clear on what we need, I can see what Samba can offer.

Mike's patch mentioned in #1 is moot
because all SMB support was removed from Wine
with http://cvs.winehq.org/patch.py?id=12382 in
March '04, with comment "Removed the no longer used
SMB file I/O support, we can't do reliable
file I/O in user space anyway."
winecfg appears to be the only place in Wine that
mentions smb/cifs, and all it does it autodetect
the mounts and let you create drive letters for them.
The URL for the UNC patch mentioned in #0 is stale; it's now at
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2001-December/001460.html
All it did was try to resolve UNC paths by looking at
/etc/fstab. Perhaps we should reconsider that approach
(or possibly a more limited one that only looks at
shares that have been assigned drive letters already).
The objection to that before was probably that Wine
should do full-on CIFS, but that objection was rendered
moot when CIFS support was removed as unreliable.
Or perhaps we should wait for Linux to support per-user mounts.
But even then we might consider the other method
as a fallback for when running on operating systems
that don't support that.

This is a problem i already asked a question about a long time ago, but i still
don't get it really. The problem is wine seems to look in
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/fonts/ for a font, and now it finds the "guitar-pro"
font , and uses it as default font for a lot of applications. Work around is to
copy another common font (i.e. arial.ttf) to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/fonts/,
that should solve the problem. Maybe someone could solve this "mystery" once and
for all....

This bug is still present in 0.9.35, confirmed with eMule 0.47c and kernel
2.6.20/Debian lenny. I have setup static port forwarding on my router and UPnP
isn't used at all.
After UDP communication interrupts, a 'netstat -l' reads:
udp 120320 0 *:4772 *:*
Instead of displaying 'LISTEN', the status is blank and Recv-Q=120320.

Windows XP, but the text is being truncated in verse 20 in Ubuntu, just as
Robert described.

verses of text. With Wine, I see only about 20 verses.

Summary: PAF 5 individual notes editor truncates displayed text
at 32K
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.35.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: rm.riches(a)verizon.net
PAF 5 under Wine truncates the displayed individual notes (and perhaps other
blocks of text, too) at about 32K bytes/characters. Sam Foit first discovered
this problem, but he asked me to file it. I don't have a Gatesware system act
as control group, but Sam Foit assures me PAF 5 on an XP system displays text
much larger than 32K. The full text appears to be saved to files and exported;
it's just the displaying in the notepad-like editor panel that truncates the
text. I tested a similar file in Wine's Notepad, and it displayed all the text
I tried.
I'll attach a GEDCOM file that serves as a test case. To duplicate the problem,
start up PAF 5, do "new", import the GEDCOM file, close the statistics panel,
double click on Fred Flintstone, click on the 'notes' button, scroll to the
bottom of the editor panel. The full file has 30 verses, but only about 20
display in PAF under Wine.
I will request that Sam Foit try my GEDCOM file with both Wine and XP to provide
a second witness of the difference.

Hello,
as usual i picked out the interesting ones :)
The attached error log produced by the applications own crash dumper is misleading.
I extended the callstack with my own findings from debugging native java (JNI):
--- snip ---
C [msvcrt.dll+0x216b7] cxx_exception_handler
C [java.dll+0x9723] wcanonicalize(WCHAR *orig_path, WCHAR *result, int size)
C [java.dll+0x8794] Java_java_io_WinNTFileSystem_canonicalize0(JNIEnv *env,
jobject this, jstring pathname)
j java.io.WinNTFileSystem.canonicalize0(Ljava/lang/String;)Ljava/lang/String;+0
j java.io.Win32FileSystem.canonicalize(Ljava/lang/String;)Ljava/lang/String;+298
j java.io.File.getCanonicalPath()Ljava/lang/String;+10
j java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary0(Ljava/lang/Class;Ljava/io/File;)Z+25
j java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary(Ljava/lang/Class;Ljava/lang/String;Z)V+217
j java.lang.Runtime.loadLibrary0(Ljava/lang/Class;Ljava/lang/String;)V+54
j java.lang.System.loadLibrary(Ljava/lang/String;)V+7
j java.lang.System.initializeSystemClass()V+110
--- snip ---
Although the callstack is completely valid, it never crashes there (just returns
fine).
Wasted some time to realize this.
The console java callstack is the right one.
Analyzing/debug obfuscated java code is not much fun, so here it goes...
Basically the following code produces the exception (might not match real code
100% - just to illustrate the problem):
--- snip app code ---
private File some_func()
{
String strProps = System.getProperty("app_default_settings");
if(strProps == null)
{
// no defaults yet!
if(OS.isWindows() && !OS.isWindows9x() && some_helper.is_java_version_1_5())
{
StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer(System.getenv("ALLUSERSPROFILE"));
sb.append(File.separatorChar).append("Application Data");
sb.append(File.separatorChar).append("company_name_here");
strProps = sb.toString();
}
else if(OS.isMacintosh())
strProps = "/Users/Shared/company_name_here";
else if(OS.isUnix())
strProps = "/usr/local/share/company_name_here";
else
strProps = System.getProperty("user.home");
sb = (new
StringBuilder()).append(sb).append(File.separator).append("app_default_settings").toString();
}
return new File(sb);
}
--- snip app code ---
This is the problematic code:
StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer(System.getenv("ALLUSERSPROFILE"));
System.getenv("ALLUSERSPROFILE") (which boils down to getenv()) doesnt return
anything useful in wine (at least on my system).
Therefore StringBuffer() ctor throws. Guess. No Exception handler. Bad guys :)
To verify my analysis:
1.) set wine to Win9X (see the code snippet, the getenv() code is never reached
in this case) using winecfg.
Result: no crash (app starts up, displaying all sorts of windows)
2.) set environment variable in shell (e.g. $ export ALLUSERSPROFILE="c:\blah")
Result: no crash (app starts up, displaying all sorts of windows)
Resolution:
Either use Win9X config or have wine "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%" defined.
Regards

Dan,
Wine overrides PATH on startup so you'll need to set it from cmd.exe and run setup.exe from there to have
an effect.
As to the bug itself, lic_mng.dll registers an inprocserver32 class without a path. It uses atl to register it,
but using native atl doesn't appear to change anything.
The process that the error occurs in is "c:\Program
Files\Mercury Interactive\QuickTest Professional\bin\InstDemo.exe" -name
"QuickTest Professional". I haven't tested running the same from the command line in Windows yet.

Hi, a user submitted garbage testresults for this app in the appdb. Seems to be
some kind of editor they use at the European Community (Brussels?)
Quote from sender:
"It is still the latest version of the cpfeditor and for researchers it is still
a major reason to keep windows on their laptops."
The application fails because of unimplemented stuff in msxml3:
fixme:msxml:xmlnode_GetIDsOfNames
Then there's a window about an application error, and that's where the fun stops...

crash analysis
Hello,
interesting callstack ... completely messed up :)
Basically the IAT entry for a specific shell32 call is invalid/not defined.
Native comdlg32 calls a specific import but due to invalid IAT entry, a
different import is called which has other arguments signature
(DllRegisterServer()).
This messes up callstack which renders crash dump unusable.
Attached is full analysis.
SHMapIDListToImageListIndexAsync() is the problematic one, it's missing from
shell32.spec.

I can only amplify a bit on what Anastasius asked.
How did you install? Were you using the recipe described here
http://www.osfinancials.org/mediawiki/index.php/Linux_Client_Eng_Install_ma…
or were you just using a default install of osfinancials?
Were you using firebird? If so, was it running as a service or as
an application?
Does the problem perist if you do
cd $HOME
mv .wine .wine.old
and then reinstall a fresh download of the latest osFinancials?
Me, I ran the latest osfinancials on a fresh wine directory
with all defaults. There were some issues (which I should
post in another bug) but not the one you describe, unless
I'm confused.

I'm marking this as fixed because, of all the installers listed, the progress
bars worked fine. The only installer that didn't have a working progress bar
was America's Army 2.8, and it still didn't work even after reversing Dan's
patch. Feel free to open a new bug about the progress bar not showing up in AA2.8.

Hi,
fGis is a freeware GIS (only before october 2005)
You can get a french freeware version with this link :
http://www.ac-nantes.fr:8080/peda/disc/svt/tel_fGIS/fGIS050913.zip
You need only to extract this zip file under
"C:\Program Files\fGis"
I get this error when i choose the "default project" :
:~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/fGis$ wine fGis.exe

Yes. I suspect that native ole32 just doesn't release the drop target at all if the application doesn't call
ReleaseDropTarget.
