that one is marked resolved (and the issue clearly is not resolved), I am
reopening this one.
Bug 8016 should be marked as a duplicate of this bug or visa versa.

(wined3d: Move applying the gl stream sources to the state table.)
but after that it isnt fully broken.
at least the loading screen is white.
but with the following commits everything is broken to start the game
that means there is at least one problem/bug in
d5f18e6a631159a655698765361e7d8e50c953a2
but not the main problem.
As I have no clue what it going on, CCing the Author.

No, the screenshot in comment #8 is a duplicate of 8016 (which is not a
duplicate of 7990). Wrt my comment #6, I mixed up the bug numbers, I meant 8016
rather than 7990 there as well.

Actually, the screenshot shows pretty clearly this is a different bug. Lack of
NPOT support would show a lack of scaling and an empty border around the
right/bottom side of the texture. Here the picture is scaled correctly, but with
an offset from the left and top.
Other than that, I get this myself on an nvidia card using FBO ORM. I agree the
bug report is rather low on details though.

The shader problem is bug 8048.

I have shader detail set to "Ultra High" without any ill effects, so this
definitely isn't a dupe of bug 8048. The problem stems from the "VFX Detail"
slider, which is distinct from the "Shader Detail" slider.
I also didn't notice any issues with the movies not being scaled (although
they seemed slightly choppy, perhaps 15 fps instead of 30 fps) either, as in
bug 7990.
I was using virtual desktop mode initially, but now that I try fullscreen
mode, the issue goes away. Mind you, a new issue appears if I set the
resolution to anything higher than 1024x768 (tested 1152x864 and 1600x1200),
see the attached screenshot. Although, this "new" issue also goes away if I
set "VFX Detail" back to Low, so I suspect they're related issues.
wine --version indicates the version as above (it's git from yesterday).

The patch that moves the behaviour from the blank window with rapidly flashing

of application dont redraw or repaint properly) is patch
db412aaf60f999b76927d613ce221c69954fe40e
Added a from_child parameter to the get_update_region request to allow
restarting the search from a given child, in order to avoid looping
forever on windows that don't repaint correctly.
I'll see if I can get some debugging log or output from files affected by this
patch.

This is a really odd bug that I just checked on someones behalf who was
experiencing it aswell. Basically you bring up the save menu and save and you
may see your other save games, but then in future when you bring it back up the
entire save list may be empty. The problem is it also shows up as being empty
when you try and load a game too which means you can't actually load a game at all.
The problem is, after the initial save (which seems to cause this issue) you can
tell it to save and it says it does, but looking in the Saves folder from Linux
shows that it's not created any more saves.
So in summary, you can save ONCE. After that the list will appear empty and when
you tell it to save it wont actually do anything.

can't tell what it's doing, but based on load time I'd say it's about to finish
doing pre-loading and open the main campaign window) it crashes with the same
output as previously. The last normal output is still repeated
"fixme:process:GetProcessWorkingSetSize (0xffffffff,0xb5ec40,0xb5ec3c): stub"

Anastasius Focht's solution (adding COMDLG32_SetCommDlgExtendedError(0) at four
places) looks very reasonable to me. It should be sufficient, but I wouldn't
dare to submit a patch since on the one hand I don't really oversee possible
side effects and consequences and on the other hand I don't really have any
experiences with creating & submitting patches and I'm not brave enough to
experiment with something like patches ...

Hmm . . I do not have this issue, though I did experience it with some earlier
Wine versions. Can you please confirm your version by
running 'wine --version'?
Does the same happen when you run the game in full-screen mode?
Do you have any Direct3D registry options enabled, such as UseGLSL and
OffscreenRenderingMode?

The Software is licensed close source. If it will help I will ask the software
company if we can use a special version for tests.

Hello,
looking at the screenshots this seems some merchandise management software from
http://www.warenwirtschaftlicher.de/honitrade/index.htm
On their product page they state the client and server software runs on various
platforms (operating systems).
Do you run the client software which is used on windows?
The screenshot shows some terminal-like application with text based ui
communicating over tty.
Could you attach some terminal output of wine?
e.g. run: wine appname >log.txt 2>&1
Maybe some FIXMEs/WARNINGs reveal more ...
Could please test if any version higher than 0.9.27 works for the terminal output.
Try 0.9.28, 0.9.30, 0.9.31 and above until you reach the non-working one (just
to minimize regression testing).
Please ignore the german "Umlaute" issue and concentrate on the issue where the
terminal output gets broken.

Hello,
i downloaded the whopping 280 mb demo.
After getting past d3dx9_30.dll (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4464) i
got same exception.
Happens in vsk.dll, which is upx packed and starforce 3 protected.
Starforce 3 belongs to the "more advanced" category of copy protections that
implement various system-intrusive measures.
Actually a dup of http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3260
I doubt this SF3 stuff will be supported by wine in near future ...

Excuse me,
--- quote ---
bugzilla is not the place to send patches (unless they're for testing). You
need to send the patch to wine-patches.
--- quote ---
the attachment isnt a patch.
It's an automated version of Lei Zhang test program to illustrate the problem
(strictly spoken not even a test case which meets wine standards).
A patch isnt here yet, though it should be a no-brainer to add

I'm not noticing this performance loss after changing the graphics settings. I
was fiddling with them quite a bit to nail down the issue for bug 8122 and I
never noticed any performance loss. I did notice that memory usage seemed to
rise steadily (starting out around 26% and topping out around 42%), but I
don't particularly suspect a memory leak, I think it was simply caching
things.
I'm running it on relatively fast hardware (Athlon X2 4200+ with a Geforce
7950 GT and 2G of RAM), so I wouldn't really expect to see slowdowns, though.

For me, attempting to run the demo causes 3DMark 2000 to crash. The benchmark

I get the same results with DirectDrawRenderer set to 'opengl', as well as

On a hunch, I discovered a work-around for this bug: change the Default Sans
Serif font to something other than Microsoft Sans Serif (the default). To use
the workaround:
1. Start up Notes
2. Select File | Preferences | User Preferences... (you'll need the oleacc.dll
override, mentioned at http://wiki.winehq.org/LotusNotes to avoid this crashing
Notes)
3. Under the "Basics" tab, which should be selected by default, click on the
"Default Fonts..." button in the "Display Options" group at the top left
4. In the dialog that appears, select something other than Microsoft Sans Serif
in the "Default Sans Serif" drop-down list.
If you have the problem with Default Monospace as well, pick a different
default font for that too.
I've tried Arial and Courier New for the Default Sans Serif and Default
Monospace fonts respectively and found it fixes the problem nicely (also fixes
bold or italic fonts not appearing in navigators, e.g. folders in one's mail
database which contain unread mail), and other elements of the user interface
where Default Sans Serif has been used.
Obviously, this workaround will cause things to look a little different
(wherever a database, a memo, or some chunk of the interface used Microsoft
Sans Serif it'll now use Arial (or whatever you've chosen) instead). However,
provided the substituted font is similar to Microsoft Sans Serif it's barely
noticeable.
This workaround does also suggest that the underlying bug is something to do
with the Microsoft Sans Serif font (given that substituting another TTF font
like Arial cures it)... Is there something "special" about it?
Tested with Notes 7.0 / Wine 0.9.35.

Yes, the installer exits very quickly with an error code on wine. The call to
ExitProcess with an error code happens in line 58k or so of the log, so I only
included the first 60k lines of the 400 something MB relay log. Haven't tested
it on windows yet, but I would expect this kind of behavior to be abnormal....
I'll test this on windows and report back later.

As I mentioned before this patch is not acceptable by Alexandre. The way to go
is to basically revert the window management change in wine. After this change
there were only X11 windows left for toplevel windows (and filemenus and some
other small things).
This is the most tricky area of Wine to play with and basically Alexandre is the
only one who knows it well. I fear that it will take months or even longer to
get ready, so don't count on anything. Once opengl32 is stable which it can be
made after this huge change, then and only then WineD3D will be ported over to
WGL. If we really go this way then WineD3D->WGL wouldn't be needed for windowed
direct3d but it would nonetheless be useful.

Nemesis? I can get the game to run if I turn the sound hardware acceleration to
complete emulation, but the display is messed up. When I'm in a location, it
displays an image; when I rotate the view, or move, it flickers the correct
images but once it stops moving, the first image is over everything. Plus the
menu at the top flickers and half-displays but any further display is again
covered up by the first image. I tried .31 and .35 on Debian etch. Wine itself

apparently it was complaining about missing DLLs and fonts.
So I copied all the fonts and DLLs from windows in the appropriate places. Now
I'm getting a different error message, as pop-up window: "Error while unpacking

And of course I have a very long error log on start-up. I have used

The patch is not for casual users. Unless you're prepared to
dig into how to build Wine properly, and learn about patches,
you might want to just wait for the final fix to be integrated.
It's going to be a while, so you have plenty of time to learn
C programming if you like :-)

The test program seems a bit too fancy.
It doesn't run on my system;
when I press 'update' I get an error
"'27.03.2007 2:54:11' is not a valid date and time."
Can you simplify the test program a bit to not depend on locale?

Some triangles were drawn outside of the view frustum. In combination with
missing clearing of the framebuffer this resulted in driver and adapter

I agree that this is no directly wines responsibility.
However, that said, the fact is Wine needs to be patched in order for the 'Real
World Golf' series of games to be playable.
Is there an ability to mark this as a 'feature' rather than a bug fix? If I
came up with a solution would it be considered by the Wine community?
Regards,
ichard

Alex, unless you will be asked to, do not attach any arbitrary traces you think
_might_ help. They won't.
Instead don't forget to report what is your video card and video drivers version.
Also, attach complete terminal output if there is any.

Additional comment to the above attachment. This is the config.xml file which
the game uses to match a certain card-id to a string with the card's name. Some
cards are listed as unsupported.
A list of ATI cards are (curiously) enough supported without any driver checks
whereas the nvidia cards have an extra check which serves to probe the current
version of the NVIDIA drivers. If it's older than xyz then one would suppose the
card would be unsupported.
Anyway.. I have this same bug and I also see:
err:ntdll: section 0x7d98d160 "x11drv_main.c: X11DRV_CritSection" wait timed
out in thread 0009, blocked by 000f, retrying (60 sec).
This happens regardless of sound options (just for the record!).
Using Nvidia 9755 drivers and a 8800GTX card -- so updating the drivers had no
effect. This test was run on Wine 0.9.34

A rough translation would be:
"Hi folks,
we're using Suse 10.2 and wine for a windows-based emulation program. It
generally worked without flaws. Support for German umlauts was a problem up
until version 0.9.27, version 0.9.35 fixed this. However, now the serial port
support is broken in 0.9.35, while it worked without any problems in 0.9.27. I
downgraded, of course. Is that a known problem or is there any configuration
options I need to change?
Greetings .. etc"
that being said, I'm surprised that Umlauts were broken before, and I have no
idea about the serial port stuff.
