Log of the first run
Here is the first run log. I started the program, splash screen comes up, the
bar didn't appear at first, like it did the first time I rna the program, so I
right clicked on the system tray and went to properties. In there the tabs on
the right are gray in color, but are still usable. So the first tab, I
selected Longhorn slate clock style. On other tabs I disabled showing the
splash screen and some other unimportant settings. Then I went to the 2nd tab
from the top. Go to the weather section, and click Weather Channel. Then
click Add. It disappears from the left side, but does not appear on the
right.. odd. Then I hit apply, and the program spit a lot of stuff on the
console and I get a message from the program itself that there was an error and
options to close the program or restart, etc.

Summary: SmartBarXP crashes if you add the Weather Channel pane
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.34.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Keywords: download, Installer
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-ole
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: Speeddymon(a)gmail.com
SmartBarXP works for the most part, although it spits out a fixme on the console
once a second about alpha blending (no big deal), and needs native MSVBVM60.DLL
in order to register OutloookControl.dll and MSN6Control.dll
However if you go into the options and add the Weather Channel pane, then it
spits out a whole bunch of messages and then dies without starting the debugger.
If you try to start it back up after doing this, then it crashes into the
debugger. See next 2 posts for logs.

I recognized this with several 3D games which pause the game and stop using 100%
CPU usage when they are minimized (but don't do it with wine).
One of them is Warcraft 3 which is annoying me the most, because I can't stay in
a channel and switch to another workspace, work with some other intensive
applications because I haven't the full CPU power.
But I don't know any other applications then games where this bother.

I would like t confirm this bug. utorrent just stops unexpectedly after random
right-click functions, I've had it happen when changing priority settings and
when removing torrents or torrents & data.
this happens with both the 1.6.1 stable version of ut and the more recent 1.7 beta.
there is no error msg of any kind, both the utorrent windoew and the ut taskbar
icon just disapear.
utorrent can be restarted normaly and shows no sign of anything other then a
"bad" exit, meaning that it goes into recheck mode of the files that were
downloading when it stopped, ( this requires a lot of cpu but is a normal or
restarting following an unexpected stop)
running on ubuntu 6.10 with wine 0.9.34
thanks for the help
PS I am not in a possition to do regression testing

It happened the same bug updating wine from 0.9.33 to 0.9.34, the popup window
doesn't show anymore after the update, but reinstalling the software from
scratch on wine 0.9.34 solved the situation again.
Unfortunately reinstalling Origin each time wine is upgraded is very annoying
sine usually I create scripts for data analisys that I have to manually
reinstall each time one by one.
So it seems that when upgrading wine some settings related to Origin get lost
during the update process and I need to reinstall the application in order to
make the popup window show again.
So the bug is not solved but it seems to be not a problem related to wine's
popup window creation (otherwise reinstalling the application over the same
version of wine would not solve the problem) but something related to wine
upgrade process, and maybe to a loss of information in some Origin-related
configuration file.

I am not sure if this is the same bug?
I also have a retail copy of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (PoP 1) and tried
it, which indeed gives me the output like in the bug 3615.
But when I run Warrior Within (PoP 2), I get a different output (different error
messages). So I am not 100% sure if this is the exact same bug, or if WW crashes
before it gets to the multithreaded part? Anyhow, I don't know about the
technicalities but the output on the console is definitely different.

I think this is a refcounting problem in d3d9. The device does not get
destroyed, thus the context is not unset. When the new device is created, the
context manager tries to restore the old context after setting up the new
one(intended, the new context is finally set when used the first time.
Unfortunately, by that time, the drawable is not valid any more -> bang
I have a patch for this, will send it later today to wine-patches

The name returned in the "tszProductName" field of the DIDEVICEINSTANCEA

For Example:
Real World Golf searches for it's specific joystick using the name of the
product. On windows the returned name is 'Game-Trak V1.3'. Wine reports the
name of the joystick as 'In2Games Ltd. Game-Trak V1.3', ie. including the

After the intro videos and screen, the game quits with a message "The game ended
unexpectedly. Please see Readme.txt for technical support"
At the end there are a lot of messages about "Blitting surfaces from sysmem not
supported yet: " err:d3d_draw:blt_to_drawable Blitting surfaces from sysmem not
supported yet". The last error in the output: "wine client error:11: write: Bad
file writer".
I can give extra info if it is needed, this is my first bug report for Wine so
I'm sorry if I didn't do this correctly.

The demo installs fine here. If you look again at the console printout
attachment, you'll see that the files which are not installed have impossible
names for a Linux system, i.e., "008d|Wilson Art Index (SP).enz". "*|*" cannot
be part of a file name, unless it is translated to "*\|*" by wine. It seems that
the present release does not do that.
BTW, the demo does not run. ("Runtime error! R6034 An application has made an
attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.")
Cheers.

means that I had to install ie6 using ie4linux before. Afterwards I removed
all native library settings to use the wine builtins again.

Thats going to be tricky. The last time I tried to compile an old version of

I'll have another go at compiling an old version - it will take me a while though.

Actually, the issue depicted in the third pair of images is only present when
using FBOs, it is not present with backbuffer as ORM.
Additionally, it seems that wine-0.9.{26,27,28,29,30,31,32,33,34} all render
the demo completely wrong (mostly black) when using FBOs instead of
backbuffer, but today's git and 0.9.25 are mostly fine with FBOs.

OpenGL child window patch (attempt 3)
This is an updated version of the patch. Below is a list of tested programs and
their results. Most of the tested programs work correctly. I broke the NWN app
as the hack isn't correct, it never worked correctly on old wine versions with
child windows. I'd like to know of more apps which work or don't. I fear that
some CAD/3d modeling apps don't work correctly as they tend to draw their own
GUI in which they mix opengl with gdi rendering. The problems I expect are
opengl windows covering parts of the gui.
Q3Radiant -> works
Google Earth -> works
Google SketchUp -> works
VLC opengl plugin -> works
Weatherscope -> works
MilkShape3D -> works
Terragen -> works
Terragen2 -> works
IKEA kitchen planner
This program uses a child window for a 3D preview screen and for a 2D drawing
grid. The 3D preview works fine but the 2D room editor doesn't work properly
but that isn't due to child windows. Further for proper operation this program
REQUIRES multiple pixelformats.
TrueScape
The opengl child window obscures win32 toolbars. This could possibly be fixed
by shaping the child window using the SHAPE extension for X.
NWN Toolset
The program never worked correctly on Wine even in the time that we had child
windows. The app is rendering to the main window instead of the child window.
The program only seems to call SetPixelFormat on a single HDC but not on all
the other HDCs on which it calls wglMakeCurrent. For some reason the HDCs
inherit the pixelformat of the main HDC. I have tried to reproduce this using a
testcase on Windows but wasn't able to reproduce it. Though I have verified my
suspicions by running the NWN tools on windows using an opengl wrapper and
indeed they inherit the pixelformat while SetPixelFormat has been called only
once.

Summary: month calendar has been working wrong since 0.9.33
version
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.33.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-comctl32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: tomekc01(a)poczta.onet.pl
I use application for reading e-newspapers: www.egazety.pl.
Since 0.9.33 wine version month calendar control has started to work wrong.
For example for april, the first day of month is placed in first row of
calendar, and there is incorrectly selected current day (selected 2.04 - today
is 9.04), and I can't select any day in the first row,
Before, evrything works fine.

cat >> $HOME/.wine/system.reg <<"_EOF_"
[Software\\Microsoft\\.NETFramework\\policy\\v2.0]
"4322"="3706-4322"
_EOF_
Then, with the help of Dan's great little tool we add a truckload of
required packages:
~/winetricks.sh -q fakeie6 corefonts tahoma mdac28 || ~/winetricks.sh -q
native_mdac mdac28 jet40 mono12
The installer wants to update both mdac and jet but eventually it
completes. Running the app produces a nice mono backtrace:

On Windows the year field goes back to 1900, and there is a scrollbar when the
drop down is opened.
On Wine, there is no scrollbar. When you start scrolling down using the down
arrow, the later dates disappear and you have to scroll back up using the up arrow.

curious if there are any differences.

Ok. What does it means for me/us? I want to plan how to organize my scientific
knowledge. As far as I can interpret It will take a long time to get .net working?
Theres another equal software called "Visual Composer .net". But I think this
will also not work because of .net installation.

What version of Wine was this? Problems like this are expected
in wine-0.9.33 and earlier.
Wine-0.9.34 has a fix for a similar sounding bug.

Changing summary and keywords per Lei's analysis.
This is another one of those bugs that either
depends on supporting .NET or on getting Mono integration working.
Lei says it needs .net 2.0, btw.

I've attached one exhaustive test for each platform. Here are the digested results:
POSIX / ISO C99 functions that win32 doesn't support:
%C, %D, %e, %F, %g, %G, %h, %r, %R, %T, %u, %V
GNU extensions that win32 doesn't support:
%k, %l, %P, %s
Extensions defined in ISO C99 / POSIX that win32 implements differently:
%z, %Z
I can easily add code to nullify all the unsupported extensions above, and
replace %z / %Z with something more suitable. With this we archive 100%
compatibility AFAICT.
If you still want me to reimplement the whole thing using
GetDateFormat/GetTimeFormat, I can try that too. But it could take me a while..
I would really like if we could sort it out around native strftime instead.
Thanks

Summary: serious sam dedicated servers don't work
Product: WineHQ Apps Database

the dedicated server for Serious Sam TFE 1.05 and Serious Sam TSE 1.07 will
accept connections, download *most* of the data to the clients, but then fail on
the CRC at the end. the windows client sees "Data 99% complete" before it gives
up. The output of the dedicated server under the wine does not indicate that
thee CRC message is sent (unlike when the dedicated server is run on a windows box).
I don't know if the data is incompletely sent, or if the CRC is simply wrong.

Strangely, when I download and run vcredist_x86.exe from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=32BC1BEE-A3F9-4C13…
it seems to complete; the only complaint is
fixme:msi:msi_unimplemented_action_stub MsiPublishAssemblies -> 10 ignored
L"MsiAssembly" table values
Since this bug seems mostly about the runtime installer instead
of the library itself, let's move it to the msi category for now...
-- snip --
I'm experiencing the same problem.
Your wine configuration is "Windows 98" so the call is done to
MsiPublishAssemblies and the copying process will succeed. If your wine
configuration is set to Windows XP/2000/2003, the call will be done to
MsiEnumProductsExA, an error will occur, no file will be copied and the process
will be aborted.
