Summary: date format differs from Windows
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-kernel
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: rmh(a)aybabtu.com
Attached program prints date in a different format on wine than on Windows.
On Windows XP, it prints:
12/31/69 16:00:00
On wine, it prints:
Thu Jan 1 02:00:00 1970
This breaks win32 applications that make incorrect assumptions about the offsets
in a string that contains dates.

I searched, but I'm pretty sure this patch hasn't been committed yet. You can't
mark a bug as fixed (fixed is correct, not worksforme) until the patch is committed.

"A Wine based GIMP plugin for using Photoshop plugins"
Suggested by Marcus Meissner: Investigate if we could make a WINE based GIMP
plugin which can handle Photoshop plugins.
PSPI - Photoshop Plug in
http://www.gimp.org/~tml/gimp/win32/pspi.html
Works on Windows and more recently Linux using some kind of Wine based
technologies.
It seems the project has already been completed and the project could be taken
down from the Wine Website.
[Incidentally what I was really looking for was a place to download windows
binaries for things like WineMine and other Wine Apps to see if maybe I could
mess around with/test them and find something useful to do even at times while I
am stuck using windows. Sure there are many alternatives for these applicatiosn
but they are also used by ReactOS so I think I might find something of interest.
I have a strange feeling like I've done this before but I cannot find what I'm
looking for at all.]

It looks like EnumFontFamiliesEx() is trying to pick a suitable font. The
difference between the two systems here is the order the fonts are listed. On
the working system, EnumFontFamiliesEx finds the Verdana font as the first
suitable font and uses that. On the non-working system, it finds "TAMu_Kalyani"
first.

When trying to reassign the key/mouse bindings (Player => Controls) the program
seems to hang. When you click around in the window a bit it seems to register a
mouse click after a while. If you click a control again it just shows "Key OK".
The only error is:
fixme:win:WIN_CreateWindowEx Parent is HWND_MESSAGE
... everytime you click on one of the control buttons.
Not sure if this is a problem.
It seems Soldat uses SetWindowsHookEx to hook into WH_KEYBOARD_LL and
WH_MOUSE_LL. However, no messages seem to be generated. Also when not using
desktop mode the keyboard focus stays at the terminal while soldat waits for a
key press. So this could be a focus-related problem.

Hello again,
--- quote ---
The sums for GK3.exe and Uninst.isu are different.
--- quote ---
For the .isu (installshield uninstall script) case its ok. They are likely to
differ between native windows and wine.
For the main binary it seems the last part got truncated off. No other binary
anomalies.
A full page (4K) is missing that includes the section boundary padding of .rsrc
section and a small debug section (pointed from PE debug directory).
If the demo version doesnt have this problem it will be difficult to tell what
caused the corruption.
To analyze/reproduce the matter one needs the original installer files.
I can offer you the following: upload the stuff (just all that is needed for

I think one of the google's apps that blindly copies that key and, appends a URL
and tries to run it. If you have any extra command line options it won't work.

What do you mean? Post the keys & values you are talking about. On windows it's
just "iexplore". Even Firefox puts there "firefox".

Hello,
could you upload the "working" GK3.exe (as bzip2) from the windows install to
same location (as in post #4) just for verification.
Maybe there is some kind of pattern in corruption.
Additionally could you do the following:
Run md5sum or CRC32 (sfv) on all files in the install directory both, native
windows and wine and compare them (main "binary" directory, where GK3.exe
resides should be enough, recursive would be cool)
Just curious if other files (binaries and data) get corrupted by install too.

Hi,
Under wine when I use a USB midi keyboard, none of the keyboard events make it
to the application (Modplug Tracker).
To duplicate this under wine and windows:
1. Download mpt116.zip from http://mccormick.cx/mpt116.zip (It's GPL so I am
allowed to distribute it from there).
2. Unzip and run the executable.
3. Go to the setup menu and select the midi tab.
4. Select your USB midi keyboard in the pulldown menu.
5. Click 'apply' and then 'ok'.
6. Click the 'midi record' button at the left of the song control buttons.
7. Press play in the song control buttons.
8. Hit keys on your USB Midi keyboard. Under Windows notes will appear in the
pattern. Under wine nothing happens.

I marked as critical, because I have a crash (I need to hard reset my PC), and
reading the description of severities:
Critical crashes, loss of data, severe memory leak
Major major loss of function
I thought "critical" was more appropriate.
By the way there's no prob to consider it a "major" bug... just to explain my
choice was not a random one.
As stated by Tom Spear this bug is different, in this case there's a crash, not
a simple graphic problem. Also the WoW patch is different.

In the first place the messages like "Missing glyph for char 0020" are not
the bugs unless you have an application that attempts to use a character
that is missing in the font. In that case you have to specify what exactly
the missing character is.
Some points:
1. bitmap font generation in Wine does depend on fontforge being installed,
and fontforge version should be recent enough to be able generate correct
Windows format bitmap fonts.
2. FreeType versions prior 2.1.9 have broken/incomplete support for Windows
format bitmap fonts, Wine disables bitmap font support if it detects an older
FreeType version.
I'm going to close this bug, if you have a real problem that is not caused
by the reasons listed above please open a new bug.

I'd say that this is different based on the fact that the patch mentioned in
that bug was 2.0.8 and patch 2.0.10 fixed it. 2.0.12 was released right after
that and breaks something else.. Also, that bug is graphical glitches, not a
hard crash that takes the rest of the machine with it.

It's a long story - but patch won't go. It brakes some apps that don't want to
see _anything_ in that key, except program name.
What really needs to happen is winebrowser should understand DDE.

Hello,
wine is right in this case.
There are some inconsistencies from looking at PE header
1. size of accumlated raw data from PE header (3231744 bytes) > size of file
image on disk (3227699 bytes) (is not a showstopper at all but might indicate
other problems)
2. in data directories: resource table (accounts for ".rsrc" section) virtual
size=0xC100 but the section header for ".rsrc" says vsize=rsize=0xD000
The OS loader refuses this and returns ERROR_BAD_EXE_FORMAT
Though one could fix this by manually editing PE header (change data directory
resource table vsize to 0xC110 and match section header ".rsrc" vsize/rsize to
same value i strongly suggest to *double check* the setup/installer files and/or
install media for some kind of corruption.
I dont believe they put this binary into setup/installer.

Hello,
--- quote ---
But I can't even get to the screen the original problem is in!
For me, the installer FPNC.exe hangs in the
"Starting installshield installer" splash screen.
Changing subject to be more generic.
--- quote ---
It doesnt really hang.
You have to wait some seconds until the following message shows up in console log:
--- snip ---
fixme:winspool:OpenPrinterW PRINTER_DEFAULTS ignored => (null),(nil),0x000f000c
fixme:winspool:AddPrinterW DocumentPropertiesW on printer L"RealFA$T PDF
Converter" fails
--- snip ---
Then have a close look at the installer window caption (top border).
You might notice a window with same size hidden behind it.
It only shows a few pixels above border.
The installer main window is modal and the second one (sub-installer) is put
permanently into background and stays there (although it should sit in front).
Use ALT+TAB to cycle through the window list then you see the "hidden" window
(you will know which one).
Move the hidden window by dragging near left border (might take some tries)
into view so you can access the controls (edit fields and button).
The main problem is probably due to following:
--- snip ---
fixme:system:SystemParametersInfoW Unimplemented action: 8193
(SPI_SETFOREGROUNDLOCKTIMEOUT)
--- snip ---
There exist several restrictions to processes on windows 2k+ systems "seizing"
the Z-order.
If the stuff is happening in own process space, one usually gets around this
limitation using following sequence:
--- sample ---
// Get the current lock timeout.
SystemParametersInfo( SPI_GETFOREGROUNDLOCKTIMEOUT, 0, &timout_ms, 0);
// Set the lock timeout to zero
SystemParametersInfo( SPI_SETFOREGROUNDLOCKTIMEOUT, 0, 0, 0);
// Perform the SetForegroundWindow
::SetForegroundWindow( hWnd);
// Set the timeout back
SystemParametersInfo( SPI_SETFOREGROUNDLOCKTIMEOUT, 0, (LPVOID)timout_ms, 0);
--- sample ---
To allow other processes to override z-order (foreground windows permission) one
has to use AllowSetForegroundWindow().
--- quote ---
I can input registration data and see it echoed (only in uppercase in case
that's significant); but the application complains that no data has been entered
at all...
--- quote ---
You have to fill out the "licensed to" field in "registration" property page or
you will get stuck at next property page "create account" (full edit field name
is readonly).
The "back" button only works after you focused account name listview item
(select it) - even if it already shows selected.
Regards

FindFirst fails to honour '*.', and insteads treats it as a match for all files
Run test pgm on windows vs linux on a directory containing a mixture of files
with extensions and those without. Windows just lists those without, wine
shows all of them.
When my next set of cmd.exe patchs get in, it will also be visible by
typing 'dir *.'

messages.
/usr/include/GL/gl.h says 0x501 is GL_INVALID_VALUE, which can mean different
things depending on the failing call.
I tried the Multiplayer Demo, when I find some free minutes I'll download the
Resistance demo. But yet the log you sent looks perfectly fine. Unfortunately
I can't provide you with a gl app that definitly shows the same bug, since
most likely other parameters are involved too and I can't predict which.
Whenever I have some time I'll try some games on my university's terminals,
they have Intel cards and since a few weeks 3D acceleration enabled. But ETA
on that either :-(

But I can't even get to the screen the original problem is in!
For me, the installer FPNC.exe hangs in the
"Starting installshield installer" splash screen.
Changing subject to be more generic.
It's definitely not an msi installer, as +msi shows nothing.
Native dcom doesn't help.
+relay gets it past the splash screen (annoyingly),
but it still hangs shortly thereafter. Pressing ^C
in the console brings up a dialog "DLL function
call crashed: rfinstall.InRfPDFConverter".
Looking through +relay output for PDF, I see it's using
something called RF_PDF_Install.exe. Googling that, I see
that it hangs sometimes on win98, too:

0009:Ret ws2_32.gethostbyname() retval=00000000 ret=004f70d29
Now in /etc/hosts i only have this line:
::1 localhost.localdomain localhost
in my old fedora installation it looked like:
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
If I change it back to the second line, and reinstall FreddiKelp, it starts
fine again. Question is, is this a problem with newest fedora configuration, or
does ws2_32 handle this incorrectly?

hi!
(sorry for my english i'm a french boy)
I have the same problem. Before 2.0.12, WoW worked with no problem in opengl
mode but after the update, the game crash at startup and i need to reboot my
computer (an acces with ssh to kill the process doesn't work) I was using wine
0.9.22 and so i have try to update to 0.9.29, and to 0.9.34, but the problem
still exist. Sometimes (after a lot of crash) i can run the game: when i'm in
the game, i have no problem and the game still to work perfectly...

messengers with errors in ./configure or compilation.
All the errors when the RF start the instalation in correct directory

Wine 0.9.34 & the 04/03 patch..
Agree'd it appears to work perfectly with the Model Viewer.
With the Toolset it (mostly) works. The window is in the correct location,
rotates around, etc, etc, correctly. However, if you attempt to use one of the
menu's. The main opengl window stops updating, until you cause the whole
window to refresh. (such as by putting another window on top of it.)
Perhaps its drawing to the wrong "place"?
(thx)

Do you mean this by "errors from extension tetection"? What does the 0x501 signify?
I have a Intel I915GM inside my laptop, which is driven by the i810 driver.
Are you sure you tried the Resistance Demo? It shows the same symptoms for me.
I am currently running Xorg 6.9.0, which is the newest package I can find for

expose this bug?

The strange thing is before the patch (WoW 2.0.10) all worked fine, even if the
FPS (in opengl mode) was not high.
Now it doesn't start anymore and it freezes the keyboard and screen. I read in
the patch notes they have changed something in the multithreaded opengl support
(for MAC), maybe for some strange reasons this impacts also the Windows part.
I don't know.

Hi, this is a followup of bug 7953. I get a nice crash in comctl32 trying to the
app. Steps to reproduce:
1. Work around bug 7953 by applying first patch :
http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=5642&action=view
2. Install neocron, when it starts i selected "Uruguay", as with "United states"
you have toi provide a zip code, that i don not know.
3. The wine-gecko window comes up, just install it.
4. Now delect "File->Trace" , and it crashes. Crash log hereafter. Looks like a
problem with unicode conversion.

If i change the registry key HKLM\Software\Classes\http\shel\open\command from

setting this key wrong. Anyone an idea?

After all the bug is in RtlWalkHeap and SSE instruction exception has nothing to
do with it. It appears that just having a pointer to the allocated heap memory
should be enough for the RtlWalkHeap. While Wine relies on the size to be
initialized as well.
I'm not sure if there are other "cleaner" ways to do this as we need to
reinspect the current arena before being able to move to the next one.

The patch isn't a fix; it's a debugging patch that helps me see what problem
you're running into with a 64bit system. It doesn't look like you applied the
patch and installed Wine properly though, because the debug output never shows
up (and it would have to if you did it properly).

+d3d log without GL_SCISSOR_TEST
This is the log you requested. I reverted back to current git (at least I hope
so) and commented out line 4200 in dlls/wined3d/device.c. The log goes until
the main menu is visible (which displays graphics rendered by the engine). The
rendering errors are gone.

Can you attach a +relay,+msi log? The msi log doesn't show anything by itself.

The patch would not apply to 0.32, so I upgraded to 0.34. Running under 0.34 +
the patch posted above worked more me.

You can check if it was really this patch by going back to current git and
remove the glEnable(GL_SCISSOR_TEST) in dlls/wined3d/device.c. If that fixes
the problem you blamed the right person :-) In that case, can you attach a
+d3d log?

I don't think declarationWNumElements should ever be 0 for a valid vertex
declaration. You'll probably want to figure out what that vertex declaration
exactly looks like, and where it comes from.

Summary: World of Warcraft 2.0.12 crash
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: fausto.saporito(a)atosorigin.com
Hello,
after I applied 2.0.12 patch, WoW doesn't start anymore and it freezes the
keyboard and screen, and I have to power off the computer to resume the normal
operativity.
I tried with 0.9.34, CVS either in d3d mode either in opengl mode.
I attached a log file with some debug info, opengl related. If you now some
other relevant switch to pass to WINEDEBUG env variable, i could try to run
using them.
The wine version I used to produce the log file is wine-0.9.34-g072698c, and I'm
running an OpenSUSE 10.2 with i910 graphic card.
The X server is set up to 24bit bpp, and the version is 7.2.0 RC2
I'm using AIGLX option.

I played with it a bit and this seems to be the problem (wined3d/drawprim.c
lines 166 and 176):
for (i = 0; i < vertexDeclaration->declarationWNumElements - 1; ++i)
primitiveDeclarationConvertToStridedData is sometimes called with
declarationWNumElements==0 , which is defined as UINT (unsigned) so the
for-cycle is executed...
Casting it to int:
for (i = 0; i < (int)vertexDeclaration->declarationWNumElements - 1; ++i)
solves that problem, but wine then crashes on something else...

This bug also applies to Command and Conquer: Generals. The game doesn't seem
to be able to resolve the machine's IP address correctly, but this can be
worked around by typing the IP and hostname manually into /etc/hosts. When
this is done, a game running on Windows in the same network can see the wine
installation in the lobby and receive text from it in the chat, but the
inverse isn't true, the wine one only sees itself. A game created in wine
shows up in windows, but an attempt to connect will fail with a timeout.
However, using the Direct Connect method in Generals, multiplayer seems to
work fine. Sadly, Tiberium Wars seems to lack that option, so that workaround
isn't available.

Summary: Created .desktop files contain characters in wrong
encoding
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.32.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: wine-setupapi
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: anpaza(a)mail.ru
The standard for .desktop files says that all strings (such as icon name) inside
the .desktop file must be in the UTF-8 encoding. WINE does not re-encode the
application name (from WANSI) which results in bad icon name if icon name
contains national characters (such as Cyrillic in my case - the icon title is
written to the .desktop file in Windows-1251 encoding while it should be
translated to UTF-8 in order for GNOME/KDE to handle them correctly).

BTW, do not run Wine as root. Any bug reports where the
user ran as root are likely to be marked INVALID.
