Roger, using native DCOM isn't solving the problem from our point of view,
it's working around the problem. Wine still needs to implement this.
Please open a new bug for the missing text problem.
Notice that I've filled in the URL and keywords field
to indicate that this app can be downloaded. Please
do that if you file a new bug for this app.

--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=5604&action=view)
Simple test program
The instruction it's crashing on is ldmxcsr. However address is correct so it
must be some other exception turned into 0xc0000005. Adding trace shows that
Wine does indeed receive TRAP_x86_PROTFLT trap. What's more attached is the
simple program that emulates few instructions that program does. And it does
crash under vmware in the same exact way (access to address 0xFFFFFFFF).
Might be the game detects something, like my CPU wrong?

With or without your latest patch or the SetupDecompressOrCopyFile patch,
I'm seeing
wine: Call from 0x7ee5fbf0 to unimplemented function
syssetup.dll.SetupQueryRegisteredOsComponent, aborting
I'm also occasionally seeing
X Error of failed request: BadPixmap (invalid Pixmap parameter)
Major opcode of failed request: 54 (X_FreePixmap)
I tried +synchronous,+x11drv and the BadPixmap error didn't show,
but the darn installer kept doing wineboot over and over,
running the last part of the installer gui,
and I saw one of those crashes for each loop :-(

With wine-0.9.34 with native msvcrt it hangs creating endless debug report. I'm
guessing it will stop only when it will run out of HDD space.
Running the game under debugger produces something like:
0x005a8bab: int $3
Wine-dbg>bt
Backtrace:
=>1 0x005a8bab in xrcore (+0x18bab) (0x00a70000)
2 0x00030000 (0x00110000)
3 0x000a0000 (0x00110000)
4 0x000a0000 (0x00110000)
where 3 keeps repeating over and over again.

Hi Juan,
Thanks for you help. It's my first try to use wine and I probably didn't search
for the right stuff.
I installed DCOM98 and I can open the document now, so this problem is solved,
but there is another one for which I don't find any information either. Maybe
you know about this, too:
The texts in the gantt chart part of the application are not displayed. They
show up in edit fields, but not in the graphical gantt chart. Would a missing
font cause an application running under wine to behave like this? Is it
something that happens in other applications, too?
Unfortunately I don't have access to a Windows computer at the moment to check,
which fonts are available and used. So this will have to wait till next week.
Thanks again,
Roger

Hello,

With that humbug gone it boils down to following..

--- snip crash ---
>From what i've seen it crashes in Drag and Drop uninit in OleUninitialize()

--- snip dlls/ole32/ole2.c ---
static void OLEDD_UnInitialize(void)

curNode = LIST_ENTRY(list_head(&targetListHead), DropTargetNode, entry);
OLEDD_FreeDropTarget(curNode); <--- *boom*
}
}
--- snip dlls/ole32/ole2.c ---
OLEDD_FreeDropTarget -> IDropTarget_Release(dropTargetInfo->dropTarget);
I put in a trace directly before:
--- snip ---
0009:trace:ole:OLEDD_FreeDropTarget (0x184608, 0xadf1f4)
--- snip ---
Interface pointer matches with the one from RegisterDragDrop().
The only other internal function call which explicitly decrements refcount is
RevokeDragDrop() which isnt called.
My guess: either the client itself or some other drop target code in wine does
Release() somewhere -> vtable ptr deref on shutdown -> crash.
For verification i incremented the refcount twice in RegisterDragDrop() (2x
IDropTarget_AddRef(pDropTarget) ).
Seems it helped, doesnt crash in ole shutdown code.
Regards

I checked the DarkCrusade demo; yes the bug is also apparent there.
(use windows version 2.0 to install, win98 to play. The first time you start it,
it wants to show the intro movie. On my machine it took 2 seconds per frame and
about half an hour before I got to the game menu. Sigh. You might want to see
whether there is a .ini file or key which sets something like FirstRun or
something, to save you some time.)

I would suggest the title of this bug be corrected - I dont think the issue is
to use cmd.exe from Reactos, it would appear there are some old 16 bit dos
command line applications which do not work. This is more related to the DOS
support or the wine-console support than the ability to physically launch
them. (You dont even need cmd.exe to get this working, eg in this case
wineconsole --backend=user dn.com)
Note anything which takes control of the screen will need running in
wineconsole mode (I'd try both --backend modes, as I'm not sure which is best
nowdays)

This will still occur - the command line processing replaces a > or < with
0x00, which effectively truncates the command line. The resolution is to
process the command line and strip these out leaving just the paramters.
Note: a space or / (or |) terminates the command line, ie the following are
the same:
dir >a.a zz /s
dir zz>a.a/s
dir zz /s >a.a
dir /s zz >a.a
If you want to redirect to a file with spaces, use quotes (dir >"hello world")

Hello,
with my patch from http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7187 i got a bit
further with WMI core installation for win 9x, nt4 on wine 0.9.34
Before install (wmicore.exe) you need to set winecfg win9x or NT4 and copy
wmi.dll from native windows system to system32 dir.
Now complains about missing forwarded advapi exports (Windows Management
Interface part of advapi):
AdvApi32.WmiNotificationRegistrationW
AdvApi32.WmiFreeBuffer
AdvApi32.WmiMofEnumerateResourcesW
AdvApi32.WmiQueryGuidInformation
AdvApi32.WmiExecuteMethodW
AdvApi32.WmiSetSingleItemW
AdvApi32.WmiQueryAllDataW
Later it bumps on
--- snip ---
wine: Call from 0x7b840750 to unimplemented function advapi32.dll.WmiOpenBlock,
aborting
--- snip ---
In advapi32.spec the following are stubbed/commented out:
--- snip ---
@ stub WdmWmiServiceMain
@ stub WmiCloseBlock
# @ stub WmiCloseTraceWithCursor
# @ stub WmiConvertTimestamp
# @ stub WmiDevInstToInstanceNameA
# @ stub WmiDevInstToInstanceNameW
# @ stub WmiEnumerateGuids
# @ stub WmiExecuteMethodA
# @ stub WmiExecuteMethodW
# @ stub WmiFileHandleToInstanceNameA
# @ stub WmiFileHandleToInstanceNameW
# @ stub WmiFreeBuffer
# @ stub WmiGetFirstTraceOffset
# @ stub WmiGetNextEvent
# @ stub WmiGetTraceHeader
# @ stub WmiMofEnumerateResourcesA
# @ stub WmiMofEnumerateResourcesW
# @ stub WmiNotificationRegistrationA
# @ stub WmiNotificationRegistrationW
@ stub WmiOpenBlock
# @ stub WmiOpenTraceWithCursor
# @ stub WmiParseTraceEvent
# @ stub WmiQueryAllDataA
# @ stub WmiQueryAllDataMultipleA
# @ stub WmiQueryAllDataMultipleW
# @ stub WmiQueryAllDataW
# @ stub WmiQueryGuidInformation
# @ stub WmiQuerySingleInstanceA
# @ stub WmiQuerySingleInstanceMultipleA
# @ stub WmiQuerySingleInstanceMultipleW
@ stub WmiQuerySingleInstanceW
# @ stub WmiReceiveNotificationsA
# @ stub WmiReceiveNotificationsW
# @ stub WmiSetSingleInstanceA
@ stub WmiSetSingleInstanceW
# @ stub WmiSetSingleItemA
# @ stub WmiSetSingleItemW
--- snip ---
The installation process seems to succeed at last.
WMI core, provider dlls and MOFs are compiled/registered.
I know WMI isnt in focus, implementing wmi.dll (core) itself seems to be
somewhat tedious task.
Due to undocumented/internal nature of this api i dont expect help/progress,
just added this entry for sake of completeness (and to remember myself).
Maybe i come up with a solution one day, but it takes time
investigating/researching that stuff (even true for getting api prototypes) ...
At least the wmi core tools (mofcomp.exe, wbemcntl.exe, wbemtest.exe,
WinMgmt.exe) seem to run - though not really usable yet.
The wbem test tool triggers access violations when querying wmi classes in wine
ole32:rpc module and the wmi config tools doesnt connect at all.
I might track down these separately and issue bug reports.
Regards

It looks like a bug in CopyImage. On my system the btnface color is 0xd8d8d8. It
gets mapped on the 16bpp DDB to 0xdedbde. But after the CopyImage it's 0xdedfde
and thus is not detected as transparent. Of course if this "feature" is also in
native then this is a bug in comctl32 and I shouldn't have used CopyImage.
I don't know too well the bitmaps handling functions but I'll try to investigate
it further. Maybe the DDBs are in RGB565 format but CopyImage passes through the
RGB555 format or this is just a rounding error somewhere.

Hello,
--- quote ---
This should be fixed in wine 0.9.34.

For the CoGetCallContext() case yes.
But CoSwitchCallContext() from my comment #2 is missed.
It crashes now there. Adding a stub for CoSwitchCallContext() should fix this.
Though it seems one can live without full implementation for now, if this
functionality is required one day, the ole32 maintainer might have a look at my
code in attachment #2 (impl in 0.9.30 patch).

More problems found and patches submitted... With the xcopy in git already
plus the patch to force on hidden files copied, and to skip files without
extensions during running, the installer works through to conclusion. (Ignore
errors about _sopen pmode)
After that, perl mostly works from what I have tried, EXCEPT using the file
association fails in the wine cmd due to another bug, this time in
FindExecutable, which I'll debug next... (eg. try running 'example.pl' from
c:\perl\eg from within cmd)

So what I can understand from your description is that the wine implementation
of the listview header has to be adjusted to reflect the native behaviour.
Is this an easy task or do it need a deep rewrite of the current code? At
least you have found the problem :-)

I see. That time they are calling GetDlgItem(hListview, 0) to check if the
header is created. That can't be fooled by hacking the return from LVM_GETHEADER
and would require creating the header control the same time as in native.

With the hack applied to the latest git I've been able to play through some
campaign missions and skirmishes, but the game still seems to crash seemingly
randomly with the following page fault after 15-30 minutes of play or so.
People have complained about similar random crashes while playing in Windows

I took the liberty of closing this bug since it is resolved (or am I the only

You were right, installing MS DCOM98 fixes all the "Average" function crashes,

Also thanks for the DCOM98 trick :)

I spent an hour looking into this, but couldn't discover the problem. The error message occurs when VB
seems to clear a VARIANT. With native, it is a safearray, but with builtin it errors out instead.

Created an attachment (id=5583)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=5583&action=view)
Toolset download/Installation instructions.
Yes, you can find enough of the NWN bits online to test the toolset.
Obviously, you won't have CD keys, so you can't play the game, but the toolset
will run without them. (Possible EULA issues aside.)
I also noticed the NWN Model Viewer appears to exhibit similar behavior, and is
a (much) smaller download. The model viewer is here:
http://nwn.bioware.com/downloads/viewer.html
If you want the full toolset experience, follow the attached instructions.
You'll be downloading over 1.5GB of stuff however.
Also, I played with the toolset under the patched wine a little more. It
seems sometimes the window is in the right place, sometimes its not. Hitting
Control-C after you open an area, and clicking Ok will move it back into the
right place. It acts a little better for a while, then suddenly it goes back
to the way it was. (odd?).

reason the X cursor is visible over the top of it so you see them stacked on

>Is this with ARB or GLSL shaders?
Wine currently uses ARB shaders.
>If I read the sdk description of rcp correctly, those source swizzles are
>incorrect. r0.x, r0.y, r0.z, r0.w are each allowed, r0 is the same as r0.x,
>but things like r0.xy r0.xz, r0.wz, r0.xyz, etc are not allowed. Are you sure
>that these shaders work correctly in windows? With which drivers did you test
>on windows?
The shader was originally written for ATI Radeon 9100/Catalyst 3.6..3.9(don't
know exact version). I don't have access to that hardware anymore and can't be
absolutely sure that this hardware actually swapped sources and used different
channels.
However, I've just tried same shader on my current Windows configuration: WinXP
SP2/GeForce FX 7100 GS/ForceWare 93.71.
I've got some interesting results:
1) On Windows including rcp instruction with source mask doesn't kill shader.
On Wine All graphic output from that shader disappears immediatly when rcp
instruction with source mask is placed somewhere inside vertex shader. Even if
result of instruction is not used.
2) On both platforms (Wine/WinXP) shader compiles with no errors/no error
messages, even if source mask is present. (It looks like Shader Studio uses
D3DXAssembleShader)
3) On Windows rcp instruction source mask DOESN'T work, but behave in
undocumented way. If any source mask is given, rcp instruction uses last given
channel as an argument. I.e. "rcp r0.xy, r0.xy" works as "rcp r0.xy, r0.y",
"rcp r0.xyz, r0.yxz" works as "rcp r0.xyz, r0.z". You can test that yourself,
by defining some constants in shader and using rcp result to multiply texture
coordinates. For example, like this:
def c0, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 4.0
mad r0.xy, v7.xy, c0.zz, -c0.yy
mov oPos.x, r0.x
mov oPos.y, -r0.y
mov oPos.z, c0.x
mov oPos.w, c0.y
rcp r0.xy, c0.xy
;rcp r0.xy, c0.yx
mul oT0.xy, r0, v0
On my system texture on resulting picture have same tiling in U and V
directions, as if only last source channel was given in rcp source mask.

With current Wine, winbench '99 install aborts
near the end when it tries to prelink aka bind

reports "not implemented". Since prelinking
really is just an optimization, and the apps will
work even without it, our stub should lie and
report success. This lets the install succeed.
I will send the trivial patch shortly.
