I added the debug log file. the error is always the same.
I mistyped the date is 20070330, so it's the same of release version (0.9.34).

If I read the sdk description of rcp correctly, those source swizzles are
incorrect. r0.x, r0.y, r0.z, r0.w are each allowed, r0 is the same as r0.x,
but things like r0.xy r0.xz, r0.wz, r0.xyz, etc are not allowed. Are you sure
that these shaders work correctly in windows? With which drivers did you test
on windows?
The msdn can be wrong - I guess this is the case here.

Good news, the CD key checker program doesn't work natively, you have to copy
mfc42.dll to windows/system32, I copied it from my Vista partition, and it
didn't like that, so it crashed. I downloaded one from the internet (presumably
from XP) and that worked.
Even better news, this bug has been fixed. :D

SRO runs near gold when i use "low ingame details" and
UseGLSL enabled in registry.
However all 3D Models ( Players, ships, animals) are drawn
"static" and move like chess figures with no animations at all.
I cant see a suitable error output from wine nor is there a
similiar problem in the database.
Here is a screenshot i uploaded to my testdata :

I have no clue where to look for problems ( played around with nearly all
available registry seetings , gdi<>opengl, fbo<>pbuffer, vertex<>pixelshaders
(both off and using UseGLSL works fine though)
Anyone any ideas ? SRO would be gold for Ubuntu with this fix done.

> But we need a lot of proof.
Please, can you be more specific? For now it is now that this patch works a lot
better than any of Ulrich hacks or anything else including alternatives like
using virtual machines (this is unrelated of course to this bug, but this is
only real-world alternative if Windows program doesn't under Wine but you
really need it). With it, most programs that uses OpenGL/Direct3D child windows
looks like under Windows and "just work" for user as they should.
What I think about this. First, it is important to specify what exatly should
be done to get this patch to be accepted. Any kind of clean up or important
redisign before submitting? Something else? And if wide testing is really
important it definitely should be accepted first (of course, after clean up,
etc., if this will be considered neccessary) otherwise wide testing is simply
impossible to accomplish.
Without answers to these questions it is very difficult to do something. For
example I have little experience with Windows/Wine API but still I'm
experienced Linux/C++/OpenGL programmer. Maybe I can help with something if I
have enough free time and knowledge? Or maybe not... I don't know because I
don't know what what is requried and neccessary to accept it and what isn't.

So.. seems like WoW requires offscreen pixelformats. Even with the old code, if
I commented out initialization of offscreen pixelformats, WoW crashed.
What's the reason to not provide offscreen pixelformats?
This patch does two things:
- init_formats() initializes offscreen pixelformats.
- ConvertPixelFormatWGLtoGLX() _needs_ to set '*fmt_count' even if
iPixelFormat is invalid (because of X11DRV_wglGetPixelFormatAttribivARB()).

All variables now need to be prefixed with an identifier, 's' for string, 'i'
for integer' and 'b' for bool, for example. The 'show all tests' works
because showAll happens to begin with an s. For the limit button, you could
just make it display the URL without the showAll argument, as it would then
display the default number of results, or you can fix it to use the
identifier.

I tried modifying the test program (compiled under MSVC 1.52) to write some text
to stdout using "_lwrite(1, ...)" but the output went to somewhere unknown
(i.e., wasn't written anywhere I saw) both when I ran it in in the IDE and from
a command prompt. I tried redirecting at the command prompt ("windirs > x") but
the resulting "x" file was length zero. I added a dialog box to display the
return from _lwrite which indicated a correct write (i.e., returned the correct
string length) & it also failed properly (returned -1) which I changed the hFile
from 1 to 21 so the handle at least made some sense. It's a while since I've
written any Win 3.1 code but it was my impression that Win 3.1 Windows
applications (as opposed to DOS applications) did not really have a stdout. If
anybody else has any suggestions, please let me know.
Tomorrow I'll do a version of the program to write the results to a file named
on the command line.

The main problem is that we don't support WGL_ARB_render_texture. There's no
GLX equivalent of it and it is very tricky to emulate. On windows this
extension is very common for use with pbuffers but for some reason it was
never attempted to port this to X. I hope to provide this extension some day

Summary: Crash in CircumReality (maybe related to MIDI)
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
URL: http://www.CircumReality.com
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: wine-directx-dsound
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: Mike(a)mXac.com.au
A user reported trying Wine with my application, www.CircumReality.com. He
reported a crash, in the following Email:
---
I know CircumReality doesn't support linux (yet?), but I thought I'd try
it under linux and wine. Wine is a windows emulator -- I don't often
have a windows machine running.
Once I fixed my sound card problem (Used "winecfg" to change audio from
hardware acceleration to emulation -- DirectSound 8 was finally
detected), then it almost worked...
Something at the start of the tutorial was crashing wine once everything
was loaded. It happened when the mouse moved into the bottom left
window (and clicked?). Once I was conveniently prompted to disable the
tutorial, it didn't crash, and I was able to move around the world
I was probably getting about 2-4 FPS on this linux thinkpad T43.
The last time I ran it it, I was able to play until I zoomed in on the
couch (then wine crashed). I'm out of time this morning, but I thought
I'd let you know there may be a chance of it working on linux if you
weren't planning on building it natively there.
---
I'm NOT using Direct3D. I am using DirectSound (but I can use the old sound
API if you need). I am uses the Windows MIDI APIs.
CircumReality is obviously a very-low priority application for you, but if you
ever get around to trying it and find what's causing the crash, I might be
able to change my code to avoiding calling whatever is crashing Wine.

Actually, I'm hesitant to mail this to wine-patches because of several reasons.
ShellExecuteEx is a big hairy beast, and yet it's an essential part of the code
which can't be allowed to break.
I'm not confident that my hack for respecting the quoting won't break some other
behavior.
Ideally, I'd rely on the test cases to keep me from breaking too much. Also,
they'd help document the expected, verified behavior of ShellExecuteEx on Windows.
However, many of the existing tests fail on Windows. Also, there are far too
few tests to cover anywhere close to the required behavior of ShellExecuteEx.
For example:
*) is it legal to call ShellExecuteEx with lpFile set to a command line with
both a program and arguments?
*) SHELL_execute has a SearchPathW call in it. Under what circumstances is that
required? What would break if it were removed?
*) If a portion of lpFile, truncated at a space, matches a file, what type of
file must that be? If it's a directory, can we pretend it wasn't a match? If
it's something other than an executable, can we ignore the match? What
constitutes an executable in this context?
Frankly, I'm just not enough of an expert to answer these questions. So, I was
hoping this bug would gather discussion.

A better test app.
This is a better test executable to show the problem. I explicitely pass in a
bogus pointer:
SetDIBits(hDC, hBitmap, 0, 100, (BYTE*)0xcafecafe/*bogus*/, &bmpInfo, 0);
On wine this crashes, on windows this executable runs, showing a black square.
I'll try convert this into a proper test

Test showing that the previous patch helps with quoted lpFile
This patch modifies the test to include a quoted argument, which also has a
colliding file which matches its name truncated at the space. Without the
previous patch, this test adds to the failures. With it, the new test
succeeds.

Patch which helps with quoted lpFile in some cases
This patch changes SHELL_execute so that it keeps track of whether the value in
wszApplicationName is known to contain a singular value -- one which should not
be parsed as if spaces might separate a program from parameters.
The main case where this is known is when lpFile is quoted on input. Without
this patch, SHELL_execute unquotes the filename but forgets that it was quoted
and later tries to parse it as a command line. The original quoting should
prevent such parsing.

Modifies test to show the bug
This patch makes the shlexec test create a file "test" in the same directory as

Summary: ShaderStudio: rcp instruction works incorrectly in
vertex shaders 1.1/wine 0.9.33
Product: WineHQ Apps Database
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: trivial
Priority: P2
Component: website-bugs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ErV2005(a)rambler.ru
rcp instruction doesn't seem to work correctly in vertex shaders 1.1/DirectX
8.1 application when given certain source swizzles (like .xy, .xz etc)
The following shader causes incorrect graphical output (not a Windows
equivalent) (v7 is a 2D texture coordinate register):
vs.1.1
def c0, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 4.0
mad r0.xy, v7.xy, c0.zz, -c0.yy
mov oPos.x, r0.x
mov oPos.y, -r0.y
mov oPos.z, c0.x
mov oPos.w, c0.y
mov oT0,v7
mov r0.xyzw, c0.y
rcp r0.xy, r0.xy ; here is a problem
as you can see, shader merely maps mesh texture to the screen (unwraps it).
Howewer it will work only if either single channel specified as rpc source, or
if all of them are used. I.e. shader works with:
rcp r0.xy, r0.x
rcp r0.xy, r0.xyzw
rcp r0, r0
but doesn't work with:
rcp r0.xy, r0.xy
rcp r0.xy, r0.zx
etc.
If a "wrong" rcp source is present, mesh disappers from screen immediatly.
I believe this can be one of problems that causes buggy water in HalfLife2.
Brief system description:
Slackware 11, kernel 2.6.17.13, wine 0.9.33, GeForce 7100 GS, NVidia propietary
driver version 1.0-9755, AMD Sempron 2800+ processor.
All Wine libraries were builtin, except d3dxof.dll was taken from WINDOWS/
Sytem32 directory (Shader Studio was unable to load meshes with Wine version of
d3dxof.dll). Wine wasn't changed in any way.
The possible location of bug can be somethere in a functions that map pixel
shader to opengl shader. I wasn't able to pinpoint exact location.

If you pass an lpFile with space(s) in its name, and if there exists another

then ShellExecuteEx attempts to open/execute that other file instead.
Passing an lpFile with embedded quotes surrounding the path doesn't help.

Is your game a Direct3D game? If yes, please wait until I can get my hardware
cursor patch into wine, and test again. (I will let you know when that happens.)
Does your game use animated cursors? I am slowly working on getting Henri

No, this bug is different from the 32 bit RGBA cursor bug. This one seems to
require a hardware cursor. However, the hardware cursor depends on 32 bit RGBA
cursors, so bug 5486 was a dependency for this bug. Anyhow, I am working to get
a hardware cursor patch in that should fix this bug and a couple others.
If you guys are interested in testing my updated patch, I can post it here, just
let me know. However, it should be in the main tree soon enough. I will
probably post here when I get it in for testing.

Wine is making the icon= line in the .desktop file have only the filename
instead of the /path/to/filename.... Even with the icon in

disappears. Are most linux systems supposed to know to look for icons when no

All icons are copied to ~/.local/share/icons from c:\windows\tmp by

Summary: run time error '6' overflow MSVBVM60.DLL
Product: Wine

OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

When executing the visual basic cdec() command, the above error is thrown. I
have created a tiny executable that does just that. The above url points to
cdec.exe and also has my MSVBVM60.DLL file. From the clean .wine with only
MSVBVM60.DLL added running cdec.exe and clicking 'OK' should produce the error.
Bug 5245 is very similar to this bug, so maybe a regression. This code worked on
older wine versions.

Don't use Autoplay to install FrameMaker. This often doesn't work properly even
on Windows systems.
Instead, (and assuming a standard FM 7 installation CD-ROM) use the command:
wine "/media/cdrom0/fm/Setup.exe"
I'm very new to Wine but based on seven+ years of using FrameMaker, I wouldn't
recommend wasting time supporting installation of FM via AUTOPLAY.EXE...

Make sure you have a 32-bit version of Xcursor installed that wine has access
to. Also make sure you have the development headers installed. If you need
help with figuring out either one of those, let me know. If all goes well, a
simple 'grep XCURSOR include/config.h' should return '#define
HAVE_X11_XCURSOR_XCURSOR_H 1' and '#define SONAME_LIBXCURSOR "libXcursor.so.1"'
or similar. (After running ./configure, of course.)
By the way, you should file a bug report for the unhandled exception and (if
possible) do some regression testing.

Hello,
looking at trace it seems that __unDNameEx is indeed bugged.
Native vc++ undname tool produce following (example):
mangled:
"?$_CORBA_ObjRef_Var@VAdapterActivator@PortableServer@@VAdapterActivator_Helper@2@"
unmangled:
"_CORBA_ObjRef_Var<class PortableServer::AdapterActivator,class
PortableServer::AdapterActivator_Helper>"
Seems the wine undname gets somewhere out of sync and fails to parse data types
correctly.
The lowercase stuff (warnings) you see is due to parser pointer advanced too far
-> tries to interpret parts of name as data/method types.
To maintainer: Maybe the information found at
http://sparcs.kaist.ac.kr/~tokigun/article/vcmangle.html
could be incorporated for improvements/bugfixes.
Regards

I have also an Installer for a comercial app, that failed for this reason.
A Simple "touch ddeml.dll" makes the Installer happy and during the
Installation, the Installer overwrite the dummy file whith
his own "ddeml.dll".
To fix this, we need to build a fake NE-Binary (similar to the
fake PE-Binaries), that just returns, but contains the resources.
For the fake PE-Binaries, we do that in setupapi.dll (fakedll.c)
and check for such files in ntdll.dll (loader.c)

patch
PIDLs are shell32 equivalents of paths. The shell namespace is more than just
the filesystem (My Computer is only a part of the namespace) and uses PIDLs to
identify objects. I've written a short introduction to shell32 at
http://wiki.winehq.org/Shell32 .
The patch is not that hard to write - it should be something like the attached
patch, however it would need some testing. The first test would be to check if
it fixes your problem :). However I'd like also to check if other namespace
objects have this property, and if we should call IShellFolder_GetAttributesOf
or simply SHELL32_GetItemAttributes (i.e. if it passes junction points).

So we know why the first list doesn't work - Windows creates the header control
when it's needed. It seems P-CAD uses this to check if it has already added the
columns. As Wine creates the header in WM_CREATE and it is always available
P-CAD thought that it already added the columns. The attached patch makes it
always think it didn't add the columns (I wouldn't be surprised if P-CAD would
add another set of columns after e.g. every add/delete layer). Fixing it without
introducing any regression could be quite tricky.
I currently have no idea what's wrong with the second listview - could you add a
+message trace of the builtin comctl32 - maybe this will help.

Dan regarding your comment that AJ won't accept a patch to readd child windows.
We have talked with him on IRC and he is not against this. The patch only adds
child windows for opengl not for other cases. If the patch fixes more issues
than it creates AJ would be willing to accept. But we need a lot of proof.
The opengl code is becoming very dirty due to the glscissor and other hacks.
Further child window support would not only help fixing windowed opengl
rendering. Right now wine is limited to a single pixelformat which poses issues
for opengl32/wined3d. For a part it could result in lower performance and second
due to it things like multisampling in opengl programs can't be supported (and
more).

Ok, maybe I overreacted a bit to J.Nicolaisen comments which perfectly fitted
into my "OMG!!1!1 Use flags!!!" Gentoo user scheme(Beeing a Gentoo user
myself, for the record).
As I have described in my rantish comments above, the Problem is part of the
(nonexistant) scheme how Wine(or wine parts) connects to the windowing system.
Right now that is only X11, but in near future there will be MacOS and native
Windows too.
So there are different interests in that field:
*) In this bug a weak connection is requested, doing everything at run time to
get the maximum of features with an existing system setup.
*) 3D gamers have a full system set up already. They want something that adds
the least runtime overhead.
*) For using wined3d on windows we'll need wined3d to link to opengl.dll
*) MacOS users don't want to use an X server. We have to use AGL natively
*) Alexandre wants an approach that is as clean as possible
*) Gamers want to be able to select pixel formats at runtime
It is comparably easy to fix the symptom of this bug, but the effort for that
fix will be lost when the other issues are addressed. Most things can be fixed
by stacking up abstraction layers. Performance issues that arise with that can
be circumvented with adding shortcuts through those layers, at the cost of
code cleanness. I don't have a solution handy that suits everything.
The current plan is to go the abstraction layer stacking approach, but wine's
opengl isn't ready yet to run wined3d. Roderick Colenbrander is working on
opengl, but his time is very limited too. I don't know what is missing
precicely, but I think it is in the area of extension handling and windowed
opengl rendering.

First of all: You are right regarding the wine documentation. It is in a
pretty bad shape and is really outdated. Patches are welcome of course :-) . A
first step would be a patch to improve the ERR messages in ddraw, d3d8 and
d3d9 to suggest checking opengl.
I do not buy the newbie argument. All recent Linux distros do ship a working
opengl library by default. The only real exception is Gentoo, and I do not
consider Gentoo a newbie distro. Furthermore I don't think that running a game
over a remote link like the reporter did is something newbies do regularly.
Also I recommend you to read the Gentoo documentation, especially the thing
about "eselect opengl". The old system argument isn't really valid either. For
one part see below. And even if its because of opengl beeing needed for some
reason, there is no hardware out there which runs current beginner's distros
but does not have at least a basic 3d accelerator. (Yes, you can run things
like Gentoo on old hardware, I myself have an up to date Gentoo system on my
old 120 mhz notebook. But that isn't something people new to Linux will do
either)
Regarding the slowness: Is it really because of opengl? I suspect it is
because of the asynchronous surface updates(bug 5526). There used to be a hack
in the old ddraw implementation for that, but Alexandre didn't accept it back
as is. For properly synchronizing such surface updates the whole DirectX code
has to be synchronized - or at least before I see a point in trying to send
the patch again. Volunteers welcome.
I won't stop anyone from implementing lazy linking against libGL.so. Its just
that I personally won't do that anytime soon because there are other things to
do which I consider higher priority.

Problem seems to be that the cursor is not re-centered in the window. You can
freely move the cursor out of the windows, stopping the character's rotation.
(It'll also stop if it hits the edge of the screen, if in fullscreen).
Sometimes, if you try and push the cursor past one boundary, you will be able to
get the cursor farther in the opposite direction.

OK I got it to "work."
Here's how to get Starcraft etc. to run with the x11 driver on a system without
OpenGL (remember, these games don't even need hardware acceleration.)
_In this order_:
- Make sure you have libGL on your system (this is just a crutch for wine's
detection process, which is obviously buggy.)
-Make sure libGL.so.1 is in your PATH. I had to create a symlink:
ln -s usr/lib/opengl/xorg-x11/lib/libGL.so.1.2 /usr/lib/libGL.so.1
- Recompile wine with opengl support (Gentoo users must enable the opengl
useflag - it's no longer optional)
- Reinstall wine
- As the FIRST THING, run winecfg; this will tell you that OpenGL doesn't work
and thus it is "disabled" (I never found out what exactly this "disabling" did.)
This needs to be done before running any other apps.
- Set the aforementioned magic registry key
- Reinstall all apps (games) from scratch (full Baldur's Gate install + patching
etc, grr.)
Then it magically worked. Not very well (bad performance compared to wine
0.9.8), but the games run.
Regarding your comment Stefan, here's what I have to say.
a) It's just not working out of the box. It would not work for a newbie or
computer illiterate person with an old laptop.
b) It is not clear that you have to compile wine with openGL support (and thus
you need libGL.) There's no warning. No documentation.
c) I don't like to be told off with "It works for X percent of standard users,
so your complaint is invalid." That's not good practice, it's a cheap way out.
It's what Windows does.
Some things I would expect:
- Clearly state that libGL (or Mesa) is a dependency of Wine; declare that Wine
practically needs 3D acceleration even for 10 year old Direct Draw apps
- Clearly state that users who have no 3D capable hardware should keep using
wine 0.9.8 (or Windows.)
In my experience the Mesa software GL substitute is unbelievably slow, so that's
not an option.
A final remark: The hoops I had to jump through to get those ten-year-old DDraw
games working with wine 0.9.31 remind me of the typical Windows experience.

I have the same Problem with a different App.
A while ago, I created a test for this Problem (needs a patched
"wine/tests.h" and was crosscompiled with OpenWatcom as win3.1-app),
but stdio is redirected to a GUI-Window by the OW-Runtime.
Any Ideas for a win3.1 - compatible redirection in our testsuite?

Hello,
from what i've seen looking at java jni code it basically boils down to
following (took the code directly from java impl. into a small C test program):
Java_sun_awt_Win32GraphicsDevice_getDefaultPixIDImpl calls
---> Java_sun_awt_Win32GraphicsDevice_isPixFmtSupported calls
---> int max = ::DescribePixelFormat(hDC, (int)pixFmtID,
sizeof(PIXELFORMATDESCRIPTOR), &pfd);
params:
hDC = ::GetDC( ::GetDesktopWindow()) (desktop hdc)
pixFmtId = 1
output:
--- native windows ---
DescribePixelFormat(): max=100, pfd.cColorBits=32, pfd.iPixelType=0,
pfd.dwFlags=0x34
Java_sun_awt_Win32GraphicsDevice_getDefaultPixIDImpl() returns 1
--- native windows ---
--- wine linux ---
DescribePixelFormat(): max=1, pfd.cColorBits=32, pfd.iPixelType=0, pfd.dwFlags=0x25
Java_sun_awt_Win32GraphicsDevice_getDefaultPixIDImpl() returns 0
--- wine linux ---
return "0" means no suitable Pixel Format id found -> exception thrown.
The problem is the "flags" field in pixel format descriptor.
Windows returns 0x34: PFD_SUPPORT_OPENGL | PFD_SUPPORT_GDI | PFD_DRAW_TO_WINDOW
Wine returns 0x25: PFD_SUPPORT_OPENGL | PFD_DRAW_TO_WINDOW | PFD_DOUBLEBUFFER
The "required" flags field in that JRE implementation is: PFD_SUPPORT_GDI |
PFD_DRAW_TO_WINDOW
Basically: ((pfd.dwFlags & REQUIRED_FLAGS) == REQUIRED_FLAGS) to satisfy
function call (valid pixel id)
For windows this condition is satisfied - for the wine case not (PFD_SUPPORT_GDI
bits missing).
The wine X11 driver doesnt honour this value in
wine/dlls/winex11.drv/opengl.c:X11DRV_DescribePixelFormat() and
X11DRV_ChoosePixelFormat().

This is actually what I call "a little dirty code". This happens as far as I
understand because child window doesn't update if it gets overdrawn. But in my
practice, including a lot of work with Lightwave and some other professional
software that uses Direct3D/OpenGL child windows this problem proved to be
minor and mostly cosmetic. Anyway, this is a lot better than working with
these programs in VMWare! Besides it shouldn't be very hard to fix this minor
bug later.

> My impression is that submitting a patch to revert back

"Proper and correct solution will not be accepted, let's use hacks and
tricks!". I'm sorry, but I really don't understand this point of view. I can
understand this in case if we already have working hack with no regressions and
problems but we havn't and unlikely to have one. At least this is my
impression and also general opinion: hacks almost always introduce additional
problems or simply don't work in all cases and currently this is exactly the
case with Ulrich patches.
So why don't accept this patch? Personally I use it for very long time (since
it creation) already, run games, applications, professional software and see no
problems at all (except need to keep it in sync with current git and maybe a little dirty code but this unrelated and possible to fix). No performance
problems, no regressions - what else is needed? If I (or anyone else) miss any
problems related to using X child windows it would be good idea to post these
problem here, but my opinion for now that this patch works very well and
currently is only real solution.

Hello,
decorated names usually come in form of:
?name[@][scope@]@parameters
For "name" and "scope" part there is no lower/uppercase distinction.
Certain parts in "parameters" (like operator name, data types, return type) are
uppercase-only.
For the rest there is nolower/uppercase distinction.
So i guess the supplied decorated name must be somehow invalid.
Please run wine with "WINEDEBUG=+msvcrt" to see what kind of decorated name is
supplied to undecorator function (__unDName() or __unDNameEx()).

>The text field that acts as a filter has a window timer installed that
>fires every 100 msec. When the timer fires, it checks to see if the
>text has changed since the last call and sends a custom window message
>(msg == 1001) to its parent window.
According to one of the Weatherscope developers, this is how the filtering works:
>When the parent window receives that message, it rebuilds the radar
>combo box using the same function it used when it was originally
>constructed. The only difference it that now it has a filter string to
>apply to the radar names. When we rebuild the combo box, we completely
>remove all of the items and add back the ones that match the filter
>string one at a time.
>So, as far as Win32 is concerned, there should be a WM_TIMER message
>firing on the text field's HWND about 10 times a second. A custom
>window message of 1001 should be sent to the radar dialog's HWND if the
>text was changed between successive timer messages. We use SendMessage
>to add and remove items from the combo box (CB_DELETESTRING to remove,
>CB_INSERTSTRING to add).
As far as I can tell from a +message,+edit,+combo trace, the WM_TIMER messages
stop being dispatched once one clicks in the line edit, and instead I see
WM_SYSTIMER messages being sent. After the aforementioned clicking around, the
WM_TIMER messages are sent again and filtering works. Anyone have _any_ idea
what could be going on here?

Hello,
supporting native API for kmode drivers doesnt make much sense.
The cpu-z kmode driver implements low level i/o throughput time measurements
using ring0 (privileged) instructions and some internal kmode apis (query
interrupt counters and the like).
Even if you support/emulate necessary native kmode apis, the driver code would
immediately cause SIGILL/SIGSEGVs due use of privileged instructions.

Type
glxinfo | grep rendering
in a terminal
