Please retry with a current wine version and a clean ~/.wine:

The crash is following a CreateThread()
For a different App, i'm working on the first case.
A log, that includes "+comm,+file,+tid, pid,+relay,+seh" might help.

something to do with GetFontUnicodeRanges, or AddFontMemResourceEx .
In AoE III's directory, there's a subdir called FONTS, it contains:
fonts2.xml Fonts.bar imeuisettings.xml
So maybe it's an msxml problem after all? (I wouldn't know )

I don't know if it's relevant, but in Windows, the option to choose IPX isn't
available unless you install IPX support manually in Windows - perhaps it is the
game failing to detect either TCP or IPX support?
(I turned IPX support on in my kernel, just in case, but that didn't help.)

In the game 1nsane (demo URL given), when entering the multiplayer menu, it
should prompt you to select between either TCP or IPX when hosting a game. In
Wine there is no option to select TCP or IPX, and the game crashes when you
choose to start the game (presumably because you told it to host a game without
giving it a protocol to use).

I looked at the results of running this test under XP and Wine. It looks like
Windows creates a glyph->character table using cmap TTF table and uses it
to create the GLYPHSET ranges. Creating that table is a problem, I had the same
problem when I was implementing GetKerningPairs, have a look at the kluge
I used there.
Hans, I think that your patch is good enough to send as is, all further
enhancements could be done later.

i.e. when I try to open or save a project, it fails with messages like
fixme:commdlg:GetFileName95 Flags 0x00800000 not yet implemented
So, I think the problem is that something is not yet implemented in Wine -
GetFileName95.
I am not sure if this is a Windlows dll that OpenWorkbench uses, or if it is
some part of Java not yet implemented in Wine.
I wrote this report to encourage the Wine team to do what is needed for people
to be able to use the free (GPL) OpenWorkbench on GNU/Linux (instead of MS
Project). Currently it runs on Windows.

anyway).

Once you get the Supreme Commander demo to the battlefield the game does not
appropriately load textures. Since launching the demo necessitates installing
the d3dx9_31.dll file, the Direct3D "extensions" are likely the culprit. (This
library contains several functions of the form D3DXCreateTexture* according to
Dependency Walker).
This would probably apply against a "d3dx" component if such a component existed.

See the attachment to bug 3699 to see how to get pb 10.5 demo to install.
I'm seeing
err:bitmap:X11DRV_DIB_SetImageBits Out of memory!
in powerbuilder 10.5 demo, right after the splash screen.
The app aborts shortly after the bitmap err, but it's not clear
if the bitmap err causes the crash, could be something else.
Here's a bit of the log up to the err:
0009:Call
gdi32.SetDIBits(000002ec,00000a78,00000000,00000010,01000f28,01001078,00000000)

err:bitmap:X11DRV_DIB_SetImageBits Out of memory!
Looking a bit, I see calloc(lines 16, bytes_per_line 126322564) returned NULL.
It seems that the 'info' arg to X11DRV_SetDIBits() is screwy.
After the line
if (DIB_GetBitmapInfo( &info->bmiHeader, &width, &height,
&descr.infoBpp, &descr.compression ) == -1)
return 0;
I added
TRACE("width %d, height %d\n", width, height);
and it printed
trace:bitmap:X11DRV_SetDIBits width -505290271, height -151592479
I'd like to look into this further, but I don't have time at the moment.

Hi,
Trying to run Open Workbench on Wine - http://www.openworkbench.org/
Had to install Java on wine first (not sure how to make it use my existing Java
installation on GNU/Linux). When running the application, it seems to start up
okay, and I can use it until I try to save or load anything (hence blocker):
fixme:commdlg:GetFileName95 Flags 0x00800000 not yet implemented
Maybe this is a feature request, rather than a bug?
It might also be something to with Java and Wine?
Thanks

I sent in a patch a while ago to beryl to fix this issue. However, my patch may
have been broken. Get a recent beryl and open up "Beryl Settings Manager."
>From here, go to "General Options" and "Advanced." Go to the bottom and check,
"Enable workarounds for certain Wine and legacy windows." Let me know if this
works. If not, I will probably send off another patch to the Beryl folk.
Thanks. :)

Are you still getting problems?
I just did a test, and I noticed that I got the same issue (about 40% CPU usage)
by eMule, however it only occured while eMule was actively hashing files. What
happens if you reduce your share size or let it finish?

Summary: eMule crashes when selecting a previous search query

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

This is a regression: 0.9.30 worked fine, however as of 0.9.31 if I go to the
search tab in eMule, begin entering a term similar to my previous one then a
pulldown list of previous search terms beginning with the same letters pops up.
If I select one, the program will crash.
Here's the terminal output that occurs after I click:

This is still *broken*, as of 0.9.31.
Re #12, I think you missed the point of #11. Indeed, the programs don't work
properly once installed, but this is as a result of a failure of the installer.
A workaround for this bug is to copy the dll into place manually. Assuming you
have the install disk (or disk image) mounted at /mnt/cdrom, do:
cp /mnt/cdrom/OS/System/accwiz.dll .wine/drive_c/windows/system32/
winword.exe will now start normally, and allow you to type some text.
Given how easy the workaround is, presumably it would be pretty easy to fix?

-rf ~/.wine; winemine]

No, the failure already happens at CB/LB_GETCURSEL - the combo/listbox is empty
but the application seems to expect some items to be there. Hacking LB_GETCURSEL
to return 0 leads to a later crash following a LB_GETTEXTLEN so it's not
GETCURSEL that's broken, the application somehow expects the combobox to really
have some items. No idea where those are supposed come from.
Note that there are two comboboxes. The other one is working fine.

When in Conquer/Conquista login screen, clicking on the user/pass boxes and then
typing with keyboard has no apparent effect. I don't think it's a display
issue; I suppose input is lost because attempting to login afterwards results in
"no such user" error.
Attempting to use the clipboard to paste username or password also fails. I'm
not sure if it's purely a keyboard issue, or it's just that the edit boxes don't
get focus for some reason (clicking on them doesn't appear to do anything).
Note: I'm using Henry's patch from Bug 6250 to workaround hardware cursor

You'd rather risk increasing the complexity of being able to run the programs
which are obviously making use of a *common* library than increase ease of use?

who will continue saying that it is up to wine to make these libraries work.

I compared two logs, and found out, that SendMessage is called in both version
twice with TCM_GETIMAGELIST as message.
With the native Version more calls are made in SendMessage for some reason.
In a test with a modified wine comctl32, I found out that TAB_WindowProc is
never called with TCM_GETIMAGELIST as message.
So the question I ask myself is: Why does it make a difference for a SendMessage
call with TCM_GETIMAGELIST as message, if I use a native comctl32.dll or a builtin?

I'm using Chief Architect 10 full. I'm on Debian Linux 2.6.x kernel. I use the
architect program to render images, but after I swapped a motherboard (the only
hardware change), it whines about not being able to choose a pixel format. And
that setting up OpenGL fails. It can't be an issue with the windows program as
it was working just fine before I upgraded the motherboard to a dual processor
board. The kernel remained the same. I did an upgrade to wine and have tried
downgrading to 0.9.25 but with no effect. My video card is an ATI Radeon X1300.
I used the VESA X server driver, and then changed over to FGLRX, and then back,
but it didn't have any effect. atieventsd is running, which is the only software
change. Terminating that didn't make a difference.

Morrowind tries to use DirectShow (implemented in dlls/quartz) to play back the
mp3 but Wine's Directshow implementation doesn't support mp3.
So, why not add support for MP3 in DirectShow, you ask? Well, DirectShow doesn't
work at all right now; ever since commit
13163349521e50e7039e188a22b6a814dcfcfc37 "ntdll: Add a few more free list
entries to the heap". Also, Morrowind tries to use the IMediaPosition
interface, which isn't implemented in Wine either.
There may be more roadblocks, but those are the ones I've run into so far.

It's irrelevant what applications are "supposed" to do - only what they actually
do is important. As the user I will blame wine, and not the application when
things don't work.
Also, please make sure all respective EULAs allow installation of these DLLS on
wine (same goes for closing of the MFC bug).

sure which combination does it though.

I see the reason of this bug has been already found but as for application
manifests they are completly ignored under wine. Thus we have only one comctl32
DLL and always load it. Under Windows XP and newer this entry would cause the
application to load comctl32.dll from %systemroot%\winsxs\...\comctl32.dll
instead of %systemroot%\system32\comctl32.dll. The biggest differance is that
the first one supports theming.

Create a dialog in XN Resource editor, add a button (or many oher objects).
Then change either 'left' or 'top' in the editor fields. The button will be
stretched to the new left/top with the old lower right position on the old
place. Since 'right' and 'bottom' are no properties, it should respect height
and move the button, instead of stretching it to the new 'top'/'bottom'.
It is easier to understand with a screenshot, I'll attach two. (Before/after)

99% of applications uses comctl32 v6 but not to use any new features but to have
the controls themed under XP/Vista (usually the manifest is in a resource,
rather than in a .exe.manifest). I think the chance that this is the reason of
crash is small (of course if it is we should add the needed feature to our
comctl32 - we already implement some v6 features)

That's fine. It's not a heap based object and it's never created/destroyed so

This confuses some apps quite much, and makes for loads of funky effects.
Halflife/CounterStrike is where I noticed it first. It reported -1700MB of ram,
and failed to start. Others fail silently.

After getting past bug 4265, next problem is that the

To repeat:
start service with
wine TestCompleteService5.exe
then start app with
wine TestComplete.exe
The service eventually complains it can't stop itself (?),
and on the console, I see
err:ole:get_unmarshaler_from_stream Failed to create marshal, 0x800401f0
The app eventually complains it can't start the service.
Next step is to try with native dcom to verify whether it's a COM problem...

Your patch seems to abuse the once-per-thread buffer used by FILE_name_AtoW.
See how GetTempFileNameA calls that function. You
have to manage the 2nd filename's buffer yourself.
Please fix that, add a conformance test for both functions,
resend the patch to wine-patches(a)winehq.org
(patches often languish in bugzilla)
and post a link to the message here.
Thanks!

The slowdown is gone, but the effect still doesn't render like it should.

Anastasius, if you write some tests for NtGetSystemInformation() or at least
have some application accessing SharedUserData area, then provide us this
information, please, so the project will know you are not working on it just out
of code reverser's curiosity :P

please do two things:
1/ post the log with +dbghelp,+dbghelp_msc
2/ post the output of running Mesh CG under winedbg (instead of wine), and
report backtrace when the exception occurs
TIA
