[For version 0.9.31] while attempting to install ryzom, after the initial .exe

msi part of wine will fail to install the msi file 'ryzom.msi'. This is a
regression, since version 0.9.29 worked with the installer.

Summary: OpenGL Unresponsive Unless Mouse is Moving
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.30.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-opengl
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: aarondoom(a)cookiedoom.com
Okay, I've been searching everywhere for this issue, being related to just WoW
under Wine as well as an OpenGL issue with Wine, but I can't find anything about
it (So I hope it's not just me).
At first I thought the system would hang, it appeared as if everything had
frozen, but I could SSH into the system and see that nothing was really going
on, upon killing WoW.exe the system returns to normal.
When running WoW in a window instead of full screen as long as I don't move the
mouse over the WoW window nothing "Hangs" but nothing responds unless I move the
mouse around, even WoW responds when the mouse is moving, as long as I move the
mouse around (not in the WoW window) everything moves around just fine, I can
even log into WoW and play it (Without a mouse the "Playing" is really not very
good).
Exiting WoW the system returns to being its responsive self without having to
move the mouse around.
My only clues are that there's some sort of event that Wine's waiting for based
on mouse movement that is somehow intertwined with it's drawing of OpenGL frames.
Anyway, my xorg.conf file is really simple:

various console outputs of gothic2 gold with music/sound en-/disabled
this time tested g2 gold with the above mentioned german crack and wine .9.31
and it works, if you disable sound *and* music in $gothic2/System/Gothic.ini.
This will result in a completely calm gaming experience of gothic2!
If you disable only one of them, the game will not start! See the attched log
for the console output of various settings.
However, the loading of the game took approximately 5 minutes on my system (p4
1,7 GHz, GeForce 4 Mx 64MB, 1,5 GB RAM). Under windows it took 1 minute to
load. The game works "well, ok" in terms of speed for every setting maxed out,
decreasing maximum view increased the speed greatly.
Saving/Loading works like a charme and is working really fast and is equal to
the loading time under windows.
Note: if I changed the gamma/brightness value in-game my desktop
gamma/brightness changed accordingly and did not changed back to the original
state after closing the game.

This patch fixes the problem. Note this is only for cyMinChild, the cxMinChild

more complicated I left it unfixed (the conformance test has an appropriate

Conformance test that shows windows' comctl32 default behavior (tested on

those will have to be applied first. If my other patches are not approved for

When starting Vector NTI with native comctl32 the rebar resizes and redraws
continuously, preventing use of this program. Works fine if native comctl32 is
installed. Interestingly, although this sounds exactly like bug #1115, it has a
completely different underlying cause and fix, and each requires a completely
different functionality in which wine comctl32 is deficient (before my patches).

Its "better" with this NWN toolset. However there's a strange flickering...
I suspect its got something to do w/ the way things are being drawn.
It kind of looks like a old TV who's vertical hold is out of adjustment.
I can't get a screen shot however. <shrug> xwd grabs a perfectly good dump.
Also, the "grid" is drawn still wrong. (See the attached screen shot. The
green, and red grid shouldn't be off and over like that.)

I should have marked the first patch as obsolete but it doesn't matter - the

work. Could you try this new one if it will make any change?

No it is not a bug and has no effect on sound quality. It just means your sound
card supports hardware mixing but wine doesn't have it implemented yet. It is
harmless because it falls back to software mixing. It is just a reminder that
there is the potential for better performance if someone writes the code.

Hello,
I can run it but there's a lot of bugs,
so I can't pla it at all.
I patched Wine version 0.9.30, with the patch from Mirek but it didn't work,
I think because the patch wasn't for that version of Wine, so I tried do it
manually, I think it was correct, it compiled.
I could run, I connected to a server and came into the game and it looks like
that :(
--> http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/1748/capturehv3.png
I enabled GLSl, I think, because in regedit this option wasn't present, I added
it by hand :(
For info I use a Geforce 6500 and Ubuntu 6.10
Another question : do I have to apply the patch of Mirek, of Louis or both?
Thanks :(

Installing Sigma Photo Pro seems to require
that the setup.exe be in the current directory;
if you start it with
wine installers/sigmapro-setup.exe
it fails with the warning

(Whacky. Where did that URL encoding come from?)
Once you cd to the directory containing the setup,
you can run it fine. However, it crashes after it
"reboots the system", with error
Call from 0x7ee5dc10 to unimplemented function setupapi.dll.SetupSetSourceListA,
aborting
The app can be used anyway; the crash seems to simply be an annoyance.

The microphone is recognized properly and training is GREAT.

This bug is due to lack of implementation of CCS_NORESIZE style for rebar. This
is conformance test, next patch implements it. Will send both to wine-patches
tomorrow as my email is acting funky right now.

Found a bit of a workaround.. start Ragnarok Online and get it to the 1/4 view,
start a second application in the same instance of wine, forcing RO to minimise.
Close second program, and maximise RO-- it will fill the screen again.

As of the 0.9.31 release date, my copy is from the GIT repository, running
Ragnarok Online has resulted in fullscreen mode not being properly drawn. The
resolution of the desktop is correctly set, but the drawn area is only about one
quarter of what it should be. Was properly working prior to the newest version,
but only appears to be affecting how much of the screen is drawn, but the
graphics appear to be fine.
Could only find that it was similar to bug 5462; however, prior to version
0.9.31 it filled the screen correctly... and isn't just an issue regarding
filling the screen, but the display being extremely cropped.

ok, tested this on a different computer and the same error (no ASPI layer
found)
I tested a fixed exe for my installation, but it gave out an error message.
Windows 2000 was beeing used for the test with wine, disabled sound and music
in Gothic.ini.
You can find the fixed exe on gamecopyworld.com -> search for "gothic" ->
select "gothic 2" -> search for "Gothic 2: tNotR v2.6 [GERMAN] No-CD/Fixed EXE"
(File Archive [1.8 MB]) - strange thing is, that I do not have "ar.exe" after
installation of the game and the addon. But it worked under windows.
The polish version "Gothic 2: tNotR v2.6 [POLISH] No-CD/Fixed EXE" (File
Archive [1.5 MB]) worked under Windows for my version, too.
Anyway, the error message that pops up reads as follows:
title bar: Error-Message
text: X: XD3D_InitPerDX: Can't create D3DX context ! Error:
D3DXERR_CAPSNOTSUPPORTED
the console ouput is attached

I think that warning is harmless, but you could try commenting out the line that
generates it (line 843 in dlls/wined3d/pixelshader.c).
The following line looks a bit more interesting, but doesn't necessarily have to
be a problem either:
fixme:d3d_shader:print_glsl_info_log Error received from GLSL shader
#2147483649: "Warning: built-in varying gl_TexCoord[0] has mismatched access
semantics between the vertex and fragment shader\n Link successful. The GLSL
vertex shader will run in hardware. The GLSL fragment shader will run in hardware."
Unfortunately there are currently also a few regressions that might be affecting
the game.

The DDBLT_WAIT flag fixme is harmless, in the worst case it causes performance
issues but should never stop an app from running.
Actually DDBLT_WAIT is perfectly implemented, wine cannot handle the absence
of this flag. So the fixme is wrong.

Thanks for the info, Stefan. Actually, maybe it's not a GLSL problem, as Henri
pointed out to me that one of my eariler runs didn't GLSL enabled right, and the
screen was still black. With glsl done properly on the second run, I get the
same results. Is there an older version of fglrx that doesn't show this behavior?
Also I don't know if this is relavent, but it still looks odd to me: I looked
through the log (the one with GLSL properly enabled) and I got a lot of errors
that look like: "fixme:d3d_shader:print_glsl_info_log Error received from GLSL
shader #536870914: "WARNING: 0:1: extension 'GL_ARB_draw_buffers' is not
supported\n." But the odd thing is that I have the GL_ARB_draw_buffers extension
(it shows up in my glxinfo, as well as the one attached.)
Thanks again

Summary: Unreal Editor bitblt fails and crashes
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.30.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-gdi-(printing)
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: renekok(a)gmail.com
The Unreal Editor (for Unreal Tournament) fails when you start it up. This is
the message from the editor:
Critical: appError called:
Critical: BitBlt failed: Success
Critical: Windows GetLastError: Success (0)
Being a hackish type of person I go into /dlls/bitblt.c and change the bitblt
function like this:
return ret;
to:
if (ret == 0)
ret = 1;
return ret;
and now it bleeding works. Of course that's a hack, not a real fix.
Ret = 0 seems to happen in this case when the first if-case ret is being set by:
ret = dcDst->funcs->pBitBlt( dcDst->physDev, xDst, yDst, width, height, dcSrc ?
dcSrc->physDev : NULL, xSrc, ySrc, rop ); that's line 72/73.
For some weird reason dcDst->funcs->pBitBlt( dcDst->physDev, xDst, yDst, width,
height, dcSrc ? dcSrc->physDev : NULL, xSrc, ySrc, rop ); returns zero, where it
probably should return 1. In fact most cases it does return 1, just in some
occasions it doesn't. I did some simple debugging for that.
I don't have the skills to find out anything else, it's all hocus pocus from
here on in. Let me know if I can help.

Ok this one should be using GLSL. Don't know what happened last time :( I
skimmed through this one and see a lot of glsl type stuff in it, so maybe I did
this one right. And I didn't see "!!ARBfp1.0" in this one, so maybe that's a
good sign.

WINEDEBUG=+relay for wine0.9.30 with patch above
Log for patched 0.9.30. I think the patch failed because the program crashed
already while showing the splash window, so I never had a chance to get to the
point where it crashed before.
Anyway, thank you for trying to help.

Mariano wrote me to say:
"I discovered the problem for the Bug 7422.
I found the Microsoft Site Out of memory error message using the Rich Textbox
control http://support.microsoft.com/kb/236286.
If you downloads the file of Richedfx.exe and performs it on its computer of
wine the mistake disappears like for magic!"
So, the upshot is: the bug is caused by apps that
redistribute the wrong version of richtx32.ocx, and is not a wine bug.

I'm intentionally trying to get rid of the entries created by apps, and start
with a fresh registry, just as if I'd run wineprefixcreate. I want to be sure
my registry is clean.
As default behaviour, what's the best thing to do if you find the registry files
missing? - probably recreate a fresh default registry.
- and this would help me, because my ~/.wine/dosdevices/ contains 8 symlinks,
and my 'drive_c' is a symlink to a mountpoint subdir. Thus putting my ~/.wine/
dir back together is a pain.
(odd setup as a result of mirroring old 2GB-partitioned 10GB Windows disk which
died)

If you really want to remove your registry files you can just as well run
wineprefixcreate by hand afterwards. However this won't restore the entries
created by installed apps, so you'll still have to reinstall them just as if you
had removed the whole .wine dir.

In order to get wine to rebuild your registry (after corruption, or if you
simply want a clean out-of-the-box registry) one currently has to delete the
entire ~/.wine/ directory. This gets rid of all your drive mappings, and
requires you to backup your 'drive_c' if stored here.
Instead couldn't wine simply run wineprefixcreate, or some component of this,
when unable to find ~/.wine/user.reg etc. Thus replacing a deleted registry file
with a fresh one.

Summary: MSDN academic alliance downloader hangs
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.30.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-kernel
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jisakiel(a)yahoo.es
My university has some agreement with microsoft which lets us use their software
for free while we are registrated. One downloads a small executable (426K),
which then itself downloads the ISO file, and assemblies it.
While running it under wine it crashes a lot, I *think* when changing context
outside of the wine process (if I just click next and wait it downloads for a
while, but crashed as soon as I got out of xscreensaver, for instance).
Some useful info...
If the EXE is needed (or could help) I can upload it to a private http server of
mine, though I'm not sure of the legality of it even if I host it (say, under
webdav).
Before the first run it asked me to download the gecko engine, which I agreed to.
My wine instalation is 0.9.30 under gentoo (2.4.19-beyond3, xorg 7.2, just
recompiled under gcc 4.1.2, glibc 2.5) with sane CFLAGS "-march=pentium-m
-mtune=pentium-m -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -msse -msse2", CXXFLAGS +=
-fvisibility-inlines-hidden. Relevant USEflags are "X alsa arts cups dbus hal
jack jpeg lcms ncurses opengl oss xml -esd -ldap -nas -scanner". I can try
different combinations if it may help (say, run it without -O or with -g).
wine config is relatively unspoiled; I only installed ies4linux latest stable
version and configured the external drives with winecfg, the sound driver to
dmix and the appearance to XP.
The downloader is downloading to I:\ISOs, which is hosted in an external drive
mounted in /media/disk-1 connected by USB and in vfat format. I have no trouble
using the drive (and the downloader gets to do some percentage, say 2 or 3%
before failing). Nevertheless it also hangs using C:\temp as an output, which is
under ~ in reiser format.
In other matters... keep up the good work guys ^^

I'm getting this as well... Hope a there's a fix for it soon.
I did try the Sleep(5) hack mentioned above and it works but it still pops up
the annoying window, even after creating the HKCU/Software/Wine/x11drv/Managed
(="N") key.

Wouldn't the windows dlls in the users home directory be better sym linked?!
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/msvcrt.dll etc...

If you can't install with a properly configured registry then of course this
is a bug and you should reopen it.
However I'd expect it should work. The
com.mathworks.installer.Win32.GetShortCutTarget is a JNI function (i.e.
written in C and it makes native Win32 calls) that probably creates a
ShellLink object to read the target. Because there was no registry entry for
it, CoCreateInstance returned NULL. The installer dereferenced that NULL and
crashed.

No, that's not a texture. Currently wine uses the backbuffer for offscreen
rendering by default, and the "texture" you see in the sky is stuff left over
from that. As mentioned in comment #10, in d3d you can share the depth buffer
between onscreen and offscreen rendering modes, which is required for the
terrain to be visible. When using the backbuffer for offscreen rendering the
depth buffer is in fact shared, but not in the right way, that's why the stuff
in the sky is upside down and the ground becomes visible when they touch
eachother. When using FBOs for offscreen rendering, we *can* share the depth
buffer in the right way, which is why it works there. Note that BF2 is currently
affected by a regression that prevents it from starting though (bug 7443]).
