Upon launching seemingly any intensive 3D application via wine the system
becomes unresponsive and Xorg has 100% CPU usage.
Arch Linux OS, Linux kernel 5.9, Nvidia GTX 970 proprietary drivers 455.45.01
Issue happens on any wine release since 5.14.
Issue goes away if I use the 'virtual desktop' mode. Possibly related, I use
two monitors.
Bisecting it leads to commit 5491e939bc22f0ab479aec6b8a525be9c5ff5e35

Armored Warfare 0.36.8306 crashes after the load screen got to 100%. The game
is F2P available from aw.my.games. With Wine 6.14 the game was frozen after the
load screen got to 100% but in 6.15 it crashes and makes a error-dump and tries
to upload it.
With Wine 6.0 the game loads and works just fine but the launcher made with
Chrome misses some texts. In Wine 6.15 the Launcher looks better but the game
doesn't work.

A simple console application that outputs Hello macOS
Wine 6.1 (from HomeBrew, gcenx-wine-devel), macOS 12 Monterey Beta 12
Hello,
Wine used to work fine on my machine running macOS 11 Big Sur.
I migrated it to macOS 12 Monterey Beta 12, and now it works for some programs
but not for all of them.
I have noticed this warning:
preloader: Warning: failed to reserve range 0000000000110000-0000000068000000
and indeed Wine cannot load programs with base address in this range.
If I just change the base address from 0x400000 to 0x80000000 (above
0x68000000), it works fine.
I think that the Wine preloader should use the relocation section and relocate
the executable if it fails to load it at its preferred address.
I attach hellomacos.exe, a simple Delphi program build with this code:
program hellomacos;
{$APPTYPE CONSOLE}
{$R *.res}
begin
Writeln (Output, 'Hello macOS');
end.
Regards,
Michel Terrisse

If left alone for a while the Windows 8.1 cw-rx460 snapshot will end up with a
Radeon driver dialog offering to upgrade.
The offer is a bit strange: the version 19.11.3 of the driver is installed but
it offers to upgrade to 17.4.4!
This snapshot does not have the Radeon GUI to avoid interference with the
clipboard tests (see bug 47888), and with the sysparams tests (see bug 51362).
But this also prevents disabling the upgrade dialogs.
Disabling the tasks created by the AMD driver may solve this:
* AMD ThankingURL
* AMD Updater
* AMDInstallUEP

When a job results in a test that outputs too much traces,
* either WineSendLog does not send an email to the mailing list,
* or the email gets lost due to the excessive size.
The latter may depend on the nature of the traces: failures (included in the
email), new todos (included?), regular traces (not included?).
Also the patch is not marked as failed on the patches website which is also a
WineSendLog issue.
This is what happened for this patch which was outputting 200kB of todos:

When I click on the Publish icon on the RootsMagic toolbar at the top and
create a new book (by going clicking on the New button and giving it a name of
'test' for instance) I can select options without a problem (such as Cover
Page, Title Page, etc.). But when I click on the Add a Chapter button and
choose anyone in my list of people listed, the program completely crashes. It
doesn't matter if I choose Pedigree Chart, Scrapbook, Photo Tree or any of
them. They all go to a list of people that you can select from and all of the
entries will crash the application after you click on one of them.
A trial version of the app can be downloaded from here:

This works on Windows for me, but in WINE I get an empty string:
https://github.com/time-killer-games/libprocinfo/blob/57ca23b1896a68f7b349b…
Requires using a private API. I noticed you guys implemented a different
private API which allows you to get the Current Working Directory from an
arbitrary Process ID, so that shows you guys aren't against implementing
private API's.
So anyway, it would be nice to have this, as my libprocinfo library relies on
this as one of its core features. It can also help debugging Windows processes
runing through WINE, for those who need that sort of thing.
I use it for inter-process communication and to avoid sockets, personally.
See the function env_from_pid(process_t pid) in that source file, for more
details on the implementation. Who knows, maybe I'm doing something wrong and
it could be pure luck it works on Windows natively, but I really doubt that.

Screenshot showing before, after, and undo results
In Homesite+ (version 5.5), which is a source code text editor, there is a
facility to indent all selected lines of code with a tab.
To use this, i.e. add a tab at the start of each line, use Control+Shift+.
To reduce by one tab level, i.e. remove one tab at the start of each line, use
Control+Shift+,
On Windows this works correctly.
On Wine (devel latest, on Mac OSX brew build), the whole text gets replaced
with a . but if you press Control-z to undo, the indenting has happened
correctly.
So it seems that what is happening is that Control+Shift+. is being treated as
the correct operation (indenting) AND the . itself is being pressed (thus
replacing the selection).

The commit 22df510eff3ee66bf02230b46eefef64a5bd8f74 (gdi32: Use ntgdi interface

The thread calling NtGdiSetLayout therefore holds the DC lock indefinitely,
preventing other threads from accessing the device context.

1. Set Windows version to NT 4.0 and remove z: drive
2. Run iexplore -unregserver
3. Run the IE4 unpacker and installer
Workaround: remove the fake schannel.dll from system32 (thus letting the IE4
installer add its own) or replace it with a native one. A few other
observations:
- Using the above workaround, then setting a builtin-only override for schannel
doesn't bring back the crash
- A +loaddll log has no sign of schannel at this point

When running winecfg with no .wine directory, the .wine directory is created
but with various errors (see attachment). When winecfg is run with an existing

When running winetricks, I get the same could not load kernel32.dll error as

I've had this issue for just over a week now, at one point I thought the issue
was fixed, as wine did work normally after a system upgrade, but it was
inexplicably broken again the very next day. No subsequent upgrades have fixed
it again.

It tries to call vkGetPhysicalDeviceProperties2 which is missing from MoltenVK.
The test has a skip if it can't find vkGetPhysicalDeviceProperties2, but it
isn't triggered.
The problem I've "found" is that macdrv_vkGetInstanceProcAddr correctly returns
NULL for vkGetPhysicalDeviceProperties2, but in the test it uses
vkGetInstanceProcAddr. vkGetInstanceProcAddr goes to wine_vkGetInstanceProcAddr
and that uses wine_vk_get_instance_proc_addr.
wine_vk_get_instance_proc_addr doesn't return NULL, because it just checks some
sort of table.
Attached is a +vulkan log.
I'm running macOS 10.14, wine compiled with mingw and the 10.13 SDK.

In HomeSite+ (v5.5), there is a feature which allows multiline find and/or
replace with support for regular expressions and more. This is a powerful
feature which is still not present on most modern code editors, and as such is
a killer feature.
However, in Wine, there is a very annoying bug: If caps-lock is on, exiting
Extended Find dialog results in caps-lock state being toggled.
Reproduce steps:
1) Press caps-lock on the keyboard. (Verify this has taken effect by typing
into the editor area).
2) Open the Extended Find/Replace dialog either: (a) via the menu at Search >
Extended Find (or Extended Replace; or (b) Using Control+Shift+F (or
Control+Shift+R).
3) Close the box, either by suing escape to dismiss it, or the standard OS UI
close UI control in the top corner of the dialog.
4) Start typing. Text is now lower-case, though the caps-lock light on the
keyboard remains on.
5) Open the Extended Find/Replace dialog again, as per step 2.
6) Close the box again, as per step 3.
7) Start typing. Text is now upper-case.
Repeating these steps will continue to toggle the case.

Some of the letters are missing from the high score table or when I choose to
quit the game.
Terminal output doesn't show anything related.
Installing native d3dx9* libraries doesn't help.
The problem doesn't exist with the CSMT patchset.

Errno::ENOTSOCK occurred
Random Dungeon (ja:らんだむダンジョン[1]) is a dungeon exploring game made with RPG
Tkool VX.
It works well on Wine 6.0.1. However, on Wine 6.15, we can't load the game
anymore.
When I choose "コンティニュー" (continue) on the title screen, it shows an error
message (see attachment).
It might be common among RPG Tkool VX Runtime and RPG Maker VX Runtime.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Download RPG Tkool VX runtime, vx_rtp202.zip from [2].
SHA1(vx_rtp202.zip) = 351b4e528dc6ed4ed9988f0a636da6b1df48d6f2
2. unzip vx_rtp202.zip
3. cd RPGVX_RTP202
4. Install RPG Tkool VX runtime, i.e. LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 wine setup.exe, and
follow the setup wizard.
5. Download Random Dungeon Ver.1.70, RandomdungeonVer170.zip.
SHA1(RandomdungeonVer170.zip) = 718599f84995878d6b82c93380035169543de866
6. unzip RandomdungeonVer170.zip
7. cd RandodungeonVer170
8. touch Save1.rvdata
9. LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 wine Game.exe
10. On the title screen, move the cursor with arrow keys, focus "コンティニュー"
(continue) and hit the [Enter].
Expected result:
It shows load screen. You can choose a file to load.
Actual result:
It shows a message box with the following message and will terminate after
clicking [OK].

this is the backtrace that wine gives you after the crash described in message
body
after a clean install of wine on centos 6 i386, then running python2.7.9 under
wine, you try and import the main VPython library ("import visual as vs"), you
get the Unhandled Page Fault message and the popup that "Wine has experience a
serious problem with pythonw.exe", and it's game over. Interestingly (maybe)
the terminal no longer echos input, and you have to close it and start again.
I've attached the backtrace. The console output, since it's only one line, is
pasted below (with all the err: and fixme: outputs as observed)
I realise this doesn't qualify for submission under the "no dll overrides"
rule, since there is a dll override in place. VPython requires you to install
the windows python27.dll. Even so, I'll file the bug with the VPython
developers too, and see what happens.

Output of Library Loader 2.49
(copied with edits from forum post:
https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=35438&p=133676#p133676 where it
was suggested I submit as a bug report)
I have installed DesignSpark: (DS)
https://www.rs-online.com/designspark/pcb-software
and SamacSys Library Loader: https://componentsearchengine.com/tools
DS is now at version 10 and installed and working very nicely with wine-mono.
It was a real PITA to install when I did it using native deps, so I'm very
happy with that.
Library Loader is supposed to be able to launch and connect to DS when the
settings button is pressed. In normal use it opens component packages that you
download, adds them to the DS library and puts a symbol at your cursor ready to
place on the page.
When I was running these programs using native dependencies, it all worked well
most of the time, but I couldn't install the latest version (2.49) of Library
Loader. I was using 2.47, working ok.
I installed both programs in a fresh 32bit prefix. Library Loader installed the
newest version (2.49) - woo hoo!
BUT
I am getting an error from Library Loader when I download a new component or
when I click the settings button "Unable to launch/connect to Design Spark
PCB". Reverting all the way back to v2.28 and it works, much older that what I
was using previously.
It looks as though mono isn't doing something that it wants.
I have set: WINEDEBUG=mscoree WINE_MONO_TRACE=x
as per the forum post.
The log is from Library Loader 2.49, the newest version which installs with
mono but not with .net, but can't find DesignSpark. I launched the program and
pressed the "ECAD tool" (DesignSpark selected from list) settings button. The
point where the button is pressed is just after the cryptography stuff, where
it says "EXCEPTION handling: System.NotImplementedException: The method or
operation is not implemented." though this error is also present in the working
version, 2.28.

And the filepath gets truncated to the first space. At that point, nothing else

I have attempted to escape the spaces, convert the filepath to a file URL

XFORM xform;
memset(&xform, 0, sizeof(xform));
double angle = 0.785398163;
xform.eM11 = cos(angle);
xform.eM12 = sin(angle);
xform.eM21 = -sin(angle);
xform.eM22 = cos(angle);
xform.eDx = 0;
xform.eDy = 0;
SetGraphicsMode(hdc, GM_ADVANCED);
SetWorldTransform(hdc, &xform);
// Draw the bitmap on the paint .
BitBlt(hdc, r->left, r->top, r->right-r->left, r->bottom-r->top, hMemDC, 0,
0, SRCCOPY);
======
How to specify rotation in the XFORM matrix is described in MSDN's at

DOSBox (left) and Wine (right)
This bug applies to the version of Notepad bundled with Windows 3.1.
Old versions of Notepad can't open big text files. Instead, Notepad displays a
message saying "The file FILENAME is too large for Notepad. Use another editor
to edit the file." Wine crashes instead of displaying this message.
A giant file can be created in numerous ways. I used a small python script:
for i in range(1999999):
print i
"python script.py > giant.txt" gives a giant file.
I tried opening the file using Wine running Notepad and using DOSBox running
Windows 3.1 running Notepad. Windows 3.1 is just a normal DOS application, so
it runs fine under DOSBox. I'm attaching a PNG file displaying the differences
between Wine and DOSBox. In this case, DOSBox is correct while Wine is wrong.

The file support/user.mlib is in fact in the cabinet, so my guess is
that our setupapi or cabinet library is just tripping over its shoelaces

That file is gstreamer plugin cache.
For some reason wine fails to create it if its missing.
This causes the wineboot to hang up and timeout.
However, running tools like gst-inspect-1.0 without the cache file present will
properly initialize it.

Greetings,
There is a bug that appeared in Wine v6.10 and that has not yet been fixed.
When using a 3D software (I am seeing it with Poser 7 but others have seen it
with games as well, as shows this Reddit thread:
https://www.reddit.com/r/wine_gaming/comments/nzxrpg/black_square_instead_o…
), instead of its custom mouse pointer, I see a black square.
For now, I reverted to Wine v6.9 which is the last functioning version in this
respect.

However, when called like "wine test.exe &> test.log" it works.

Found using a program called "Athenas Armor Set Search MHGen v0.96b" (download
link added).
Installed it in a fresh wineprefix with
"WINEARCH=win32 winetricks -q dotnet20 vcrun2008",
but it crashes due to an unimplemented function:
> wine: Call from 0x7b43d2dc to unimplemented function msvcm90.dll.?_Cin_func@std@@YAAAV?$basic_istream@DU?$char_traits@D@std@@@1@XZ, aborting
> wine: Call from 0x7b43d2dc to unimplemented function msvcm90.dll.?ThrowModuleLoadException@<CrtImplementationDetails>@@YAXP$AAVString@System@@P$AAVException@3@@Z, aborting
Now, if using winecfg and changing the DLL-override for msvcm90.dll from
"native, then builtin" to "native (windows)" it works.
But I expected it to work either way. Maybe due to the fact it's a .NET
program, but really not sure.

Seems like the reimplementation of GetAdaptersAddresses() ontop of nsi caused
the issue.

Hello @all
I tried to setup winehq-stable as described this way:
https://wiki.winehq.org/Debian on Debian Buster 10.10.
Following error message appears on missing/unfullfilled dependancy:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
winehq-stable : Depends: wine-stable (= 6.0.1~buster-1)
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
So, Where to find wine-stable to solve this?
On my host system there is only:
wine64/oldstable 4.0-2 amd64
Windows API implementation - 64-bit binary loader
or:
wine32/oldstable 4.0-2 i386
Windows API implementation - 32-bit binary loader
How to do this setup?
Any help and/or suggestion will be highly appreceated.
Thanks and kind regards
Roger

Output from attempt to run Enterprise Architect
This was reported in an earlier release (bug 11203) but is still present. Last
good version was 0.9.51 but that's not available for Ubuntu 8.04.
Appears to be fixable by adding return depth; or return 24; after line 300 of
x11drv_main.c but I'm reluctant to offer this as a patch as I don't know what
this might break.
I have listed the test results at
http://test.winehq.org/data/4ece5deeeffa22b66e0a5777b6f700251a0fb691/#group…
as igoddard_laptop (original code) and igoddard_lap_amend (amended with a
"return depth;" line).
Program affected for me is Enterprise Architect.
Platform is Advent QT5500 laptop which uses Intel UMA 950 graphics chipset.

The game updater works correctly, the first update too but i have a crash when

Classification: Unclassified

--> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=45541
2 screenshots and 3 backtraces
AVR Studio has a syntax sensitive editor. This shows the following "strange"
behaviour, tested with assembler source files (see screen shot):
When a file is loaded, white space (tabs) before reserved words (i.e. all the
opcodes) is filled with garbage, see lower part of screen shot. If the cursor
is directly in front of a reserved word, and a tab is inserted, this tab is
filled with a copy of the reserved word behind it (like before "jmp start" and
2 times before "out SPL, akku".
If the editor window is forced to repaint (by minimizing it and showing again,
or moving it partially out of the client area), the garbage changes its
appearance: it can dissapear (moving it to the left and back), or the affected
areas turn grey (minimizing, or moving down and back).
Doing all this moving and resizing too often can crash the program, see
attached backtraces.
All this is only a display problem. The file in the editor is not affected!
The bug appears under wine 1.6 installed from the Distribution's packet, where
AVR Studio installs into a 64 bit folder, and under Wine 1.7, installed from
source, forced to 32 bit. The repainting bug does not appear under Crossover
12.2.1. Crashs while resizing windows have yet not been observed under
Crossover. (there is another one, which will be reported to Codeweavers).

Panel to use it for things like phone calls. Several Windows games use this
device for voice chat and don't offer other options.
Specifically, in both functions, if the WAVE_MAPPER flag is provided instead of
uDeviceID, and the WAVE_MAPPED_DEFAULT_COMMUNICATION_DEVICE flag is added to
fdwOpen, the Default Communication Device is opened. The Default Communication
Device is itself supplied in the OnDefaultDeviceChanged callback in
IMMNotificationClient.
MSDN references for both:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/mmeapi/nf-mmeapi-waveout…,
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/mmeapi/nf-mmeapi-waveino…,
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/mmdeviceapi/nf-mmdevicea…
The current Wine code, as of 6.0, does not make any reference to
WAVE_MAPPED_DEFAULT_COMMUNICATION_DEVICE at all, and its current
IMMNotificationClient notification ignores all roles except for eConsole. The
ultimate effect of this is that Windows programs that use this API to open the
communications device believe that there isn't one and thus fail to make any
attached mic available.

Hello there, I'm having issues in Clip Studio Paint where if the tablet is set
to relative mode input is completely lost if the lines are perfectly vertical.
I've tried this in both Wine 4.21, and Wine 4.21 staging, while in staging the
terminal outputs "002c:fixme:wintab32:motion_event Negative orAltitude
detected" for each motion event.
This issue has existed for a number of Wine releases, likely dating back even
further than wine 3.x, terminal output however has been somewhat new.
Video of the problem, recorded using Clip Studio Paint Pro v1.9.4 running on
the latest Wine 4.21 staging from Manjaro repository:
https://streamable.com/jxi6u
A download for Clip Studio Paint (v1.9.5) can be found at:
https://www.clipstudio.net/en/dl
(Although recorded in v1.9.4, the issue has been present for a number of
releases, and is still present in the latest release v1.9.5.)

While in the editor window, there is a Find dialog which enables text search
within the current file being edited. The Dialog includes a radiobutton pair
for setting the direction of search to be either Up (with U underlined) or Down
(D).
On Mac OSX, pressing Cmd+U to set the radiobutton only selects the label, but
does not actually make the radiobutton be checked. However, the original
behaviour on Windows does check the radiobutton.
Therefore, the radiobutton has then to be made active either by using the
mouse, or using the Space key.
The attached screenshot shows the state immediately after pressing Cmd+U. As
you can see, the label is surrounded but the radiobutton is still on its
original value.

Kwin, and Openbox - none of them can decorate it.
Wine's terminal output is attached, but this terminal output from Metacity
might also be worth mentioning:

The left and right arrow buttons in Sonic & Knuckles Collection (retail and

Using winetricks comctl32 makes them appear at the same width as in Windows.

Now that bug 10329 is fixed, the background music in Sonic & Knuckles
Collection can be heard, but it doesn't sound right. It sounds like there are
some MIDI instruments missing or something. Some songs also produce a static
sound at certain points. Both the retail version and demo are affected.
The quickest way to reproduce this bug is probably to use options -> sound
test. A few tracks that sound remarkably different in Wine compared to Windows
are the title screen theme (BGM 000) and both version of Flying Battery Zone
(BGM 009 and 010).
Still the same in git.

After beb84444 [1], PlayOnline Viewer (Final Fantasy XI Online) fails to
connect to the internet, and Steam seems to fail to render anything properly
that requires SSL connections.
For PlayOnline Viewer, at the time of a connection attempt, trace:iphlpapi
shows:
----
trace:iphlpapi:GetIpAddrTable table (nil), size 0x32cefc, sort 0
----
Without the mentioned commit:
----
trace:iphlpapi:GetIpAddrTable pIpAddrTable (nil), pdwSize 0x32d3bc, bOrder 0
trace:iphlpapi:GetIpAddrTable returning 122
trace:iphlpapi:GetIpAddrTable pIpAddrTable 0x2020eb0, pdwSize 0x32d3bc, bOrder
0
trace:iphlpapi:GetIpAddrTable returning 0
----
I wonder if the 'pdwSize' and 'size' being different means anything here.
One of the Steam SSL errors:
----

returned -1, SSL error code 1, net_error -207

...
This happens specifically on KDE because KDE's clipboard manager queries Wine's
clipboard content.
Notes:
* The TestBot Wine VM(s) do not run KDE or any form of clipboard manager which
is why they are not impacted.
* Since 308a5e7 the crash happens while explorer holds the "main process heap"
critical section causing it to be unresponsive from that point forward:
006c:err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 00480094
"dlls/ntdll/heap.c: main process heap section" wait timed out in thread 006c,
blocked by 0098, retrying (60 sec)
* In turn this causes many timeouts in winetest.exe which is why my machine has
not been submitting results since then.
* This bug was already present before 308a5e7.
* At the time the stack overflow did not happen while the critical section was
being held so the consequences were not as far ranging which allowed
winetest.exe to complete (almost?) normally.

Plain terminal output and backtrace.
After b0e51ead0d1 [1], PlayOnline Viewer (Final Fantasy XI Online) fails to
start.
Wine built with MinGW seems to be unaffected, so I'm not sure how fixable this
will be.
Backtrace lacks debug symbols even though the info has been built and installed
(that used to work... not sure what's going on there). Without additional
debug channels, the terminal has not much to tell, but I did manage to get the
symbols show up with Staging at some point, so I'll attach that trace as well.
The "on read access to 7B8A7DA0 at address 7B8A7DA0" seems curious. Not sure
if I ever saw them being the same address, but perhaps I just didn't pay
attention to them enough before.
Also "Killed" at the very end... that's interesting too. Additionally, running
with the 'relay' channel ends up with a Segmentation Fault.

It's a legacy API but still, why not. Wine provides the means to run legacy
software - sometimes better than modern Windows nowadays ;-)

The program runs as expected until it is minimised and subsequently unminimised
to use again. Upon returning the window to it's pre-minimised state it turns
black except for a few input fields on some occasions and completely black on
other occasions.

Summary: Some Radeon driver versions seem to break
kernelbase:sync
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified

Call timeBeginPeriod(2) to reproduce the bug
Some Radeon driver versions seem to break kernelbase:sync:
https://test.winehq.org/data/patterns.html#kernelbase:sync
sync.c:197: Test failed: got 0.203642
This failure only happens on cw-rx460, specifically:
* cw-rx460-1909 which has 21.5.2
* And it appeared on cw-rx460-1809 on 2021-06-25 which is when that version was
switched from the 19.9.3 Radeon driver to 21.5.2.
As a counter-point it happened once on cw-rx460-1709 (2021-06-18) when it was
switched from 19.11.3 to 21.3.2, but it has not happened since despite that
configuration still running the Radeon 21.3.2 driver. So maybe there is some
other issue.
In fact the test behaves exactly as if some application (e.g. some Radeon
driver component / GUI) called timeBeginPeriod(2), since that impacts all
running applications before Windows 10 2004.
