No, it isn't. I submitted the bug you marked this as a duplicate of.
Bug 5744 prevents you from right-clicking *ever*; this bug, even if you take the
steps to fix bug 5744, prevents you from alt-clicking until you left-click.

I'm not so sure it's that difficult.
The best place for this might be kernel space, but couldn't we cache the (case
insensitive) file names in a directory somewhere and just compare our current
file with that? I'm not sure why that would necessarily be much more cpu
intensive than a straight comparison.

No they don't. They still fail exactly as specified in this bug using
wine-0.9.18 (GIT fd61c3f24bd6a6b589df6e1bb528cf5b7221dc98).
The only thing that has changed is a new error message at the beginning of
setup:
err:ole:get_unmarshaler_from_stream Failed to read common OBJREF header,
0x00000001
If you've made this application work, please specify the version of Wine you
used, which native DLL overrides, which non-standard registry keys, etc. so I
can reproduce your results.
I opened this as one bug instead of two since
a) It makes the reproduction recipe easier to follow
b) Demo mode failing could be due to setup failing
Hope that it's ok then.

There is case where performance can be improved, but I'm afraid this bug looks
like it boils down to the basic problem of it being damn hard to prove a
case-insensitive filename doesn't exist on a case-sensitive filesystem.
Approximately 88% of the CPU time is in doing this.

The fix is to clear This->gdiFont in OLEFontImpl_SendNotify.
However, I am worried this will break some apps because the
OLEFontImpl_AddRefHFont and OLEFontImpl_ReleaseHFont implementation looks wrong.
I think it should keep a list of the HFONTs it has given out, with each one
having a separate ref count.

This bug isn't fixed after all. The only reason the DirectPlay8 keys were
created, was that I had copied DirectPlay dlls from Windows 98 SE, and these
were then registered when I ran 'wineprefixcreate'.
The proper fix for this bug would be to let Wine's stubbed DirectPlay dlls
register DirectPlay8 (they already register DirectPlay).

And please don't post anything for this bug. If you still need instructions on
how to use KDE please refer to the KDE's manual.
And if you really really really need help, please don't use Wine's bugzilla for

> Ulf, each issue should be in a separate bug, so please open a new bug for
> your problem with Python 2.4.3. This one is for Python 2.4.2, and is fixed.
Installing python-2.4.3.msi from www.python.org works only partly:
* The file chooser for the installation directory is not accessible
* The installation is not complete; for example, the file pythonw.exe is
missing. However, calling the installation program a second time and
choosing "Repair" leads to a working installation.
* when choosing a different directory by manually typing the desired path in
the dialog, an empty directory is created within the specified path.
Python is, however, installed in the predefined c:\Python24.
Find logs of the first and second installation run in the attachments. If you
need more information, please let me know!
All the best, Ulf

After further testing, disabling all global shortcuts as a workaround means
disabling *all* global shortcuts, which makes it impossible to even alt-tab out.
Clearly this is not a viable workaround (no offense).
Might anyone have workaround that doesn't lock your desktop? I still do not
understand what KDE is doing 'wrong' or 'different' from other WMs.

expected (it's the difference between win32 and the underlying nt native api).
This morning's git fails differently; seems to
create the pipe, but then it hangs later on.

I've never tried TCP/IP, but Battle.Net shows this problem for me. However,
I've had problems with my sound and Blizzard games in the past (Starcraft
manifested disconnect problems often with my Intel chip) and putting sound on
"Emulation" seems to have at least reduced this problem (I haven't been able to
reproduce, but I haven't played for extended periods). With sound disabled
completely I've never seen this problem.

See sections 1, 2, and 6 here: http://wiki.winehq.org/GitWine
It describes how to setup your Git repository and do a regression test. If it's
unclear, stop by #winehq on IRC and someone there usually is available to assist
(though you might have to wait a while after posting your question for a
response). Also, it would probably help to put that information organized in a
new page on the wiki as a help page for people who have never used Git who want
to do a Regression Test. Feel free to start something like that, and I'll be
happy to assist when I get time.
Regarding the bug, I will try to take a look at it tonight or tomorrow.

Ok, the Wine Ubuntu repos have been updated, the new 0.9.18 definitely broke
something with Soldat. Same error as I posted above. 0.9.17 works perfectly
fine. I wish there was an easier (or better documented) was of doing a
regression test because I'd really like to help get this game working...

Third time lucky
While reading the msdn description, I decided to use my precious brain and came
up with following conclusions: The function ScriptLayout decides whether the
text is rtl or ltr and somehow copies the raw text input to one of the output
arrays (the last two arguments). This description might be actually wrong in
every point, but the important thing is, that simple passing the contents of
the input (the second argument) to one of the output arrays (whichever is not
NULL as suggested on msdn) does the trick - not only SWiSHmax won't crash when
I try to add some text, it actually DOES add some text.
Altough the patch probably isn't top quality stuff, I'm actually pretty happy
with my first successful wine hack :-)

My 1st try
I'm a bit puzzled. I tried to put a stub of ScriptLayout in dlls/usp10/usp10.c,
at first, the compiler complained about invalid argument count and I quickly
fond the prototype in the headers file (at first, I was looking in the .spec
file) but wine crashes with the very same message:
wine: Call from 0x7b842640 to unimplemented function usp10.dll.ScriptLayout,
aborting
wine: Unimplemented function usp10.dll.ScriptLayout called at address
0x7b842640 (thread 0009), starting debugger...
Concerning wine hacking this is my very first try, so it's quite possible
(actually very probable) I did a complete nonsense. Would someone please look
at the patch and point me in the right direction? (I'm also unsure about the
return value as msdn docs state, that it should return 0 if successful, but
first things first.)

I'm sorry, but I cannot find this function in the wine-0.9.18 source. Neither
Google nor MSDN return any results for InternetOpenConnection. However, after
looking at the MSDN documentation for InternetCheckConnection it appears that
what we really need to check is the availability of an URL. Thus, I think we
should connect to the given host, on the port corresponding to the protocol
(like http)
or that given in the URL (like http://foo.info:4242/). I can write that patch if
desired.

I agree. However, you still have to decide which port to connect to. Looking at

When using autoit to script the installation of JDK1.5,
it works, but it gets stuck at serveral points;
the workaround is to wiggle the mouse over the

To reproduce,
install autoit3 from

download JDK 1.5 Update 7 (jdk-1_5_0_07-windows-i586-p.exe)
from http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/
then run
wine autoit.exe jdk150-07.au3
I'll attach jdk150-07.au3, it's a plain text file
with just a couple lines per installer screen.

sha1 checksums of files installed by j2se
The attached file was created by cygwin's sha1sum on
a Windows box; it gives the sha-1 checksum of
all files installed into c:\Program Files\Java\
by this installer. You can check it against your
installation by putting it in your home directory, then doing
cd $WINEDIR/drive_c
sha1sum -c ~/jdk150-07.sum
Bug #1: When I do this, it finds that the entire directory
C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_07 is empty!
Bug #2: It also complains
sha1sum: Program Files/Java/jdk1.5.0_07/jre/bin/RegUtils.dll: No such file or
directory
Nonbug: it complains
Program Files/Java/jdk1.5.0_07/jre/bin/client/classes.jsa: FAILED
but since classes.jsa is generated by the installer,
maybe that's ok?

I'm receiving the same problem with wine-0.9.17. The setup will hang at the
installation for quicktime with the progress bar looping endlessly. A workaround
is to install quicktime first before installing itunes. Also, the installation
takes a long time to run and sometimes the installation crashes.

Confirming. This is likely caused by RegisterDeviceNotificationA being a stub.
Someone should implement this. By hacking the return value to anything else then
"0" the game starts. It has lot of issues though: a bunch of white blocks
through the menu's where text ought to be, in game it only shows white blocks in
a black screen. I guess all shader related.

And trying to process in user/message.c:
static LRESULT handle_internal_message( HWND hwnd, UINT msg, WPARAM wparam,
LPARAM lparam )
{

case WM_WINE_MOUSE_LL_HOOK:
return HOOK_CallHooks( WH_MOUSE_LL, HC_ACTION, wparam, lparam, TRUE );
Which re-starts the hook chain.

proposed fix
This is a proposed fix -- I think it works, but I can't really test it because
actually building a working Wine on AMD64 is a non-trivial task.
However, I did manage to produce a Wine build that complains about a lack of
DirectX 3.0a when running Fallout instead of producing a huge list of
check_no_exec messages followed by a SEH stack overflow, so I think there was
an improvement.
Somebody who actually knows something about Windows image loading really needs
to look at this, too, because for all I know, I broke something horribly.

IMHO, this is not a duplicate for bug #657 ("mfc42 not present"):

pidgen.dll comeswith almost all MS-products starting with ie5.5sp2, ie6, office
2000, various Development environments and is present in windows since w2k.
When this Game is 2000/XP only and expect pidgen.dll, we must provide our
version with our ie6-replacement.
Chris, can you please retry with a native "pidgen.dll".
Thanks
Is a Demo-Version available for Download?
Marking the App "Gold", when it requires native dll's is wrong.

Summary: InternetCheckConnection is to naive
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.17.
Platform: PC
URL: http://maareyes.fileburst.com/fibzip.exe
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-net
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: daniel.skorka(a)stud.uni-karlsruhe.de
This bug is actually against wine 0.9.18, but that wasn't available in the drop
list.
The function InternetCheckConnection in dlls/wininet/internet.c is to naive:
It checks for an available connection to a host by pinging it. The problem
arises from misconfigured hosts (or routers along the way) which drop pings
without responding. The application which initiated the call then assumes the
host to be unabvailable.
The URL links to an application which exhibits this behaviour. An account is
needed, which can be got here:

The actual problem is that this app builds malformed RTF header (missing the
version number after "{\rtf"). However, as the native riched20 works OK, I'll
fix the wine riched20 to do so.

I think i got this bug as well. When running M$ Encarta 97, whenever I click

checking the logs show this:
err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x7fd4ece0 "?" wait timed out in

Hope this helps.

Summary: ntdll/virtual.c:map_image messes up section permissions
when sec->Misc.VirtualSize is wrong
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-kernel
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: nmiell(a)comcast.net
After mapping sections and performing relocations, map_image goes back to each
section and sets it's image protections to their final values. When doing this,
it calls VIRTUAL_SetProt with size = ROUND_SIZE( sec->VirtualAddress,
sec->Misc.VirtualSize ). If sec->Misc.VirtualSize is less than
sec->SizeOfRawData, this doesn't set the permissions for the entire region,
leaving the permissions of the section "c-rW-". Executable sections don't get
their x bit, and this breaks on systems where read doesn't imply exec.
This breaks Fallout, Fallout 2, and their respective setup programs.

err:msidb:JOIN_CreateView can't get join condition
There is a join like this:
SELECT `ActionText`.`Description`, `InstallExecuteSequence`.`Sequence`
FROM `ActionText`, `InstallExecuteSequence`
WHERE `ActionText`.`Action` = 'RemoveODBC'
AND `InstallExecuteSequence`.`Action` = 'RemoveODBC'
Which fails to execute because AND is currently not supported for joins.

Please do a regression analysis using GIT to find the patch that caused the
problem. See the "Regression Testing" section in http://wiki.winehq.org/GitWine.

Summary: Search results are confusingly inconsistent
Product: WineHQ Apps Database
Version: unspecified

Severity: normal

On AppDB, searching for the term "Dawn of War" (sans quotes) does not yield a
result for the title "Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War", which is in the database.
Searching for "Dawn of" (sans etc) does. Likewise, searching for "War" does, as
do "dawn", "Warhammer", or most puzzlingly, "Warhammer dawn of war". "dawn war"
does not yield a result for that title.
I submit that this is broken behavior.

There is the same alpha-chanel-problem in the game Icewind Dale
(http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=208), 'cause it uses the same
engine. I use the intel 855 graphics card, with relative new drivers (Suse
10.1). So this is no graphic driver or hardware bug, furthermore the game
gives the possability to select software rendering for transparency, but this
does not solve the problem.
