This is kinda odd, I see no failing pixel format checks, and the accepted
formats aren't fancy formats either. Really odd.
Can you attach a +d3d_caps log without the pixel format whitelisting patch
too?

This seems to be more a real notes bug. The notes client should only be used for
connections to a domino server. For everything else (my experience) better use a
real Mail Client like Thunderbird / Kmail or Evolution.

There's no real chance to get it running the way it is meant to be.
Notes wants to use the navigation interface from the internet explorer.
But Mozilla's ActiveX component doesn't expose the ICustomDoc Interface.
As a workaround you may set 'other browser' in the current location document (by
default this is office. Have a look to the bottoms right corner and click on it)
. Then you can set it to whatever you want. Best is to let it point to
winebrowser in the windows directory. This will execute the systems native broweser.
There are currently two drawbacks:
1. It needs my unicode patch for comdlg32/filedlg.c or notes will crash when
selecting the executable
2. Winebrowser currently needs http:// urls. E.g. if you enter www.winehq.com in
notes it won't open the site, as the winebrowser doesn't know the protocoll. I
will look into it and hope to have a patch ready the next days.
Or you can try to install a native windows browser like internet explorer /
firefox and point to that one in the location document.

Hi, i just noticed in the Appdb that someone has sent a patch with an
implementation of GetCurrentHwProfileA to wine-devel list in February. I tested
it and it fixes this bug. There hasn't been any real comment on this patch, and
afaik it's never sent to wine-patches. Would be nice if anyone could have a look
if it's correct and if it could be included in wine. The patch is at:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2006-February/045115.html
(Unfortunately Full tilt poker crashes with current vs due to a regression in
wininet, i'll file another bug for that)

I understand the problem allegedly stems from KDE's treatment of modifier keys,
but I haven't found specific details anyway. Could someone please elucidate? I
fail to see what KDE is doing "wrong" or what feature is in conflict with Wine.
Also could someone please mention the specific name of the alt-key feature in
the KDE control panel? I didn't find it in the other bug.
(I don't think it's common sense to have to change one's keyboard configuration
just to make Wine and KDE play nice...)

Hi,
I have tested the GeoGrid Viever with the todays CVS version.
It works. At least the maps may be browsed.
There is still a few features, which are not accessible:
* printing: here is garbage instead of the map
* database access does not work yet (searching for names)
Anyway, thanks a lot!

I just checked with the latest git, but this still doesn't work for me so i
reopen this bug. This is what i did:
rm -rf ~/.wine
wine bg2demogs.EXE
Now a lot of files are copied into Program Files/Baldur's Gate 2 Demo
After that the installshield wizard actually starts to try install the game into
Program Files/BlackIsle/BGII or something like that. It then very soon fails
with the "object reference not set" bug.
Maybe someone else could try , if it works for him or not?

Confirmed crash with *software* Mesa libs. Accelerated Mesa libs work fine.
Could be a bug in 6.4.1 as my accelerated version is 6.5.1. There is no bug in
Wine because the same call only gets passed to system glu library. I recommend
updating your mesa libs and reporting if it still occurs to the Mesa people
because there really isn't anything we can do.

You are able to download the current client and register an account, which will
be free for approximately 15 days or X amount of actual gaming hours, whichever
comes first.
http://iro.ragnarokonline.com/
When that runs out, I believe you can make a new character on the site again and
the process restarts, but I'm like 99% sure that the only issue that needs to be
majorly fixed is the the program starting up.. everything else in the game
'worked,' but may have needed a little work. :)

backtraces of the threads
How to produce such backtraces:
- start Warcraft Frozen Throne with winedbg instead of wine
you will get a console output like this:
...
2163 status = entry( peb );
Wine-dbg>
- enter "cont" in oder to continue starting warcraft 3
- join a game which is hosted by someone with closed ports
- change to console (e.g. with [alt]+[tab])
- press [str]+c
- you should get again:
Wine-dbg>
- type "info process", you should get something like this:
pid threads parent executable (all id:s are in hex)
00000013 12 0000000e 'war3.exe'
00000010 1 0000000e 'explorer.exe'
Wine-dbg>
- enter "attach 0x" plus the process id of war3.exe. In the given example you
would type: "attach 0x13"
you will get a output similar to this:
0xffffe40e: jmp 0xffffe403
Wine-dbg>
- type "info thread"
you should get the thread IDs of each thread like this:
00000013 (D) C:\Programme\Warcraft III\war3.exe
00000026 15 <==
00000023 0
00000021 0
00000020 0
0000001f 0
0000001e 0
0000001d 0
0000001c 15
00000019 15
00000017 0
00000016 1
00000014 0
00000010
00000011 0
-For each thread ID of the war3.exe process you type "bt 0x" + the ID of the
thread.
The command for the first thread of the example would look like this: "bt 0x26"
- save now the produced log.
- you may continue playing(= seeing the blocked interface) with "cont" if you
want.

Hi Dan,
when you look at the list of incomming mail's, then can you similar press any
letters (like "test"). Lotus Notes brings a popup windows on front with these
letters. If you then press Enter, Lotus Notes search the incomming mails list of
these letters.
This function works with every list (like the incomming mails list).
The problem is that Lotus Notes place the cursor after typing the first letter
before the letter and not after the letter (like "estt")
When I set the cursor by hand after writing the first letter after these letter
ist the rest fine.

To get this to run at all, you have to
copy in MFC40.dll. When I ran it today,
I got runtime error dialogs on the first run,
but the second run was clean.
Things seem better than last time I tried it; I can
at least click on "calculate performance".
But that gives me an unending series of
"Error Encountered: ERR=11 ERL=2534 ERR IN LIBRARY"

Status: NEW
Keywords: download
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-ole
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
Installed Lotus Notes demo on today's wine from git, plus
the two patches in bug 5736. Installs and generally runs.
But typing in a URL into the address bar doesn't bring up
the web page; it just says "An error has occurred while
processing a request on an object". The console shows
fixme:ole:GetHGlobalFromILockBytes cbSize is 8192
fixme:ole:OleDoAutoConvert (0x2eb0178,0x30eb074) : stub

This happens even if I've already run programs/iexplore/iexplore
to force loading of the mozilla thingy.

Can you give a recipe to reproduce? Please
be very explicit about where to click,
I'm not a real Notes user, and I can't find the

talking about.
Also, I don't have a Domino server here; I can
use the Notes 6.5.4 demo to check my email,
though. Can this bug be tickled without logging
in to a Domino server?

I reproduced the bug with today's wine and Notes 6.5.4 demo.
I bet this is the same underlying cause as bug 2620;
maybe Notes is doing a "switch id" to yourself before
saving files, just to make sure it gets the permissions right.

Current Wine from cvs installs and runs Notes 6.5.4 and 7
(see bug 5736 for the last patch needed).
The reported problem is still present: Switch ID causes Notes
to crash if wine is set to Win2K, but doesn't crash if Wine is set to win98.

Also present in Notes 6.5.4 demo.
I just noticed that clicking the 'X'
in the mail database tab and then re-selecting Mail
seems to be enough to get the confused messages to
be readable again. Also, the problem may be worse
on messages with attachments, I'm not sure.

Reconfirming with Wine 0.9.17, Ubuntu.
This bug is getting old. I also vote that it be increased in severity from normal to "major" or "critical"; it meets all three criterion of "crashes, loss of data, severe memory leak", but this happens gradually, so "major" may work. Other than this bug and superficial graphical issues that can be ignored, eMule would work fine.
The same bug also exists in Crossover Office 5 (so don't bother trying that). WineX appears to have the same problem with some networked game.

Ugly hack which makes Civ4 work with current Git/CVS
I don't know much about how this part of the code works, but this patch fixes
it and here's what happens w/o the patch:
Once you launch the game, it launches a small "Loading" type window which has a
background and a status bar. As soon as the app (or Wine?) passes the
WM_SETFONT message to this window, it crashes with the previously attached
debug output. With this patch, it happily gets past this point and the game is
somewhat playable (there are other d3d bugs, but with current git, that stuff
is unreachable).
If you need any more debug information, please let me know and I'll be happy to
provide it. Thanks!

AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
After applying the two patches in bug 5736, Lotus Notes 7 trial
version installs and more or less runs. I was able to use
it to delete lots of email from an IMAP account.
(I'm not a Notes user, and I don't have Notes or Domino,
I'm using Notes client as a naive email client for testing.)
But only the first email in the inbox can be read;
all the others are displayed as red, and double
clicking on them yields the message
"Invalid or nonexistant document".
Syncing (with F9) doesn't help.
Oddly, if I then mark the one good message to be
deleted, and hit sync, the other two become readable.
(But I'm no Notes user, so maybe that's normal behavior...
guess I should test under Windows to rule out that obscene possibility.)

Aha. Thanks to Stefan Siebert, there's a fix coming.
The app exits silently because a DLL is missing, it seems.
Applying Stefan's patches (I think they're
http://winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2006-July/028607.htmlhttp://winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2006-July/028608.html )
and then doing a totally default install of Notes 7 trial
seems to cause the following files to be installed that
weren't installed even if the user picked EVERY install option
without Stefan's patches:
ncompact.exe ndefault.exe nfixup.exe nhkdaemn.dll nimui.dll nimuires.dll
nimuiu.dll nlsxbe.dll nmstrings.DLL notes.exe nsd.exe nstclient.dll
nstclientu.dll nxvcrd3.dll nxvcrd.dll nzlib.dll qnc.exe smarttags.dll
and now nlnotes.exe actually starts up and present a GUI!

Setting component to ole (though perhaps advapi would be better, if that
was a choice in bugzilla).

and then it pops up a dialog saying
"A problem has been encountered while loading the

The file vcsetup.exe is a self-extracting archive which can
also be unpacked with cabextract; running the setup.exe
inside there skips the first line of output
(fixme:advapi:DecryptFileA...)
but otherwise gives the same results.

With wine cvs dated of yesterday, walls are well displayed. So the regression
occurs with the cvs of today. But there are several wined3d files merged in the
same time. How can I find the file which gives the regression?

This is a case of multithreaded direct3d, which is unsupported by wine. You
can try the hack at http://stud4.tuwien.ac.at/~e0526822/thread , it fixes the
issue for Empire Earth but it lowers the performance by 90% and apparently
breaks lighting.

I'd say this bug is invalid, for debugging using a virtual desktop is highly
recommended, with it the game won't be able to mess up the screen. Otherwise
if the game crashes unexpectadely than the actual crash is the real bug. If
the screen resolution is not restored properly after crashes then this is
incorrect cleanup, which should IMO be fixed in the X server or window
manager.

------- Additional Comments From agarobr.listas(a)gmail.com 2006-24-07 08:19 -------
As Dan Kegel said, I have sent to wine-patch list a patch with a probable fix
for this bug.
Therefor, after studying the GDI API a little bit (from Huw Davies test and MSDN
documentation), I don't have a clear idea how to make a test for this bug.
As I thought, a initial approach would be manually create a DIB (dib.a) to use
with the SetDIBits function, get the resultant DDB and pass it to the GetDIBits
function, at this point, get the new resultant DIB (dib.b) and check if it
matches with that first one (dib.a) initialy passed for SetDIBits function, but
I didn't find sufficient information about DIB struture to manually create a
instance in the DIB_PAL_COLORS format or how to compare two instances of this type.
Assuming that the HBITMAP returned by LoadImage function is a DIB, this function
may be used to create a the necessary DIB for the approach above, but again I
didn't find how to get (or build) the bit array from HBITMAP to use with
SetDIBits function.
I don't even know if the data flow "DIB->SetDIBits->DDB->GetDIBits->DIB" and the
comparison of initial and resultant DIB are a apropriated approach to validate
the right behavior of SetDIBits funcion.
If someone have comments on this subject, please post here.
