The only way i could get the program installed with current cvs is using native

leave this one as resolved duplicate

And this is the file compressed with bzip2?
That is big file indeed.
Here is a tip from the developers list to create smaller logs:
you can add this to your user.reg file to limit size of it
(It's two lines, split for readability):
[Software\\Wine\\Debug] 1125240062
"Relayexclude"="RtlEnterCriticalSection;RtlLeaveCriticalSection;
_EnterSysLevel;_LeaveSysLevel;_CheckNotSysLevel;NtCurrentTeb;
LdrAccessResource;RtlUpperChar;kernel32.97;kernel32.98;TlsGetValue"
If that is not enough send the last part. You can use
tools like split and csplit for the job.
Here is an example using dd. Say you have a 100MB log, called wine.log
The command:
dd if=wine.log of=partwine.log bs=1000000 skip=70
will create a 30MB partwine.log (dd skips the first
70*1000000=70MB of the log)
Compress that and upload it.

No, this is v. 1.18.
Strangely I can't reproduce the problem today. I'll have to re-test on the LAN,
but I'll close bug if it no longer happens. Currently I get the sound errors,
but it doesn't crash. Maybe X was broken, and it's been fixed...

Summary: Mouse input doesn't work properly in dungeon siege 2
Product: Wine

Platform: Other
OS/Version: other

nThis:
Although the mouse seems to be working properly, the cursor moves (although
it's not visible) and clicking the mouse causes the menu to animate, the
buttons don't have any effect.
I'm not sure if this is a problem with messages or something else, I don't
have a working windows install at the moment to snoop messages.
I've attached the last few thousand lines of a log of +cursor,+message where I
press the mouse button over a menu item a few times. (+dinput doesn't log
anything)
The demo is 1.5GB and can be downloaded from

Error-Message
I tried with cvs-20050926 (new workingdirectory, msi and *msiexec.exe=native)
and could find out, that the error seems to be related to the atempt of
installing an Extension for IE. If I do a custom Installation and choose not to
install the Extension for IE, the programm installs successfully. There is some
debug-output, but it does not cause the Installation to fail.
When I choose to install the Extension for IE, I get an error-Message
"Unhandled Exception"
"Error Number: 0x80004005
Description:
Setup will now terminate"
After clicking onto the OK-button, the Installer exits.
This is the debug-Output when choosing to install the IE-Extension:

Well, I used older (2005419) wine DLL compiled with the rest of source.
It gets to some more dialogs, but ended with something like Internal error
80000101 or so.

Summary: msvcrt rtti typeid with primitive types
Product: Wine
Version: 20050211
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: arik(a)tidex.co.il
Trying to execute the following program causes wine to crash. Alternatively, it
may result in corruption. The program was compiled using VC6 with STLport 4.6.2;
the command line was: CL /GX /GR /MD rtti.cpp . I suspect the problem is in the
WINE MSVCRT implementation.
#include <iostream>
#include <ostream>
#include <typeinfo>
int main()
{
std::cout << typeid(float).name() << '\n';
return 0;

I have roughly the same bug with cvs-20050926. Installer starts with lots of
fixmes and some errors. Then, at some later point the process of configuring the
installer, the following Error-Message is displayed:
"Unhandled Exception"

Description: Object reference not set

When I click the OK-button there are some more fixmes and errors and then I have
to kill wine.

The 1000 lines are no enough, they show a program that is already shuttng down,
closing windows, unloading dll's etc.
So send more, perhaps all of the log. Compressing with bzip2 reduces the size
considerable.

libraries involved here. I will check this on a straight 32-bit machine later.

In trying to port a windows-applications to many different
platforms, I got somewhat confused, and this bug report
should have gone to the mingw compiler team. But for now,
I could explore 3 different behaviors of 3 different
compiler systems: against to msvc6 wine does accept splitted
strings, and mingw has this problem with the escaped followed
by a double-f.

OK, granted my search for this bug was not very thorough, but how can this bug
be classified as Resolved when you keep getting messages such as mine?
Clearly the link in the original WINE HQ page pointing to the download of a
compilable source should be changed.
Only THEN can you claim to have fixed the all the issues associated with the
bug.
Whilst this version of source code is still downloadable you will keep getting
these problem reports.

As of CVS on the 23rd, running the game works for me.
Corrected, the underruns can lead to a unresponsive lockup, but not a crash as
you say. I've had someone else report something similar to your GLX error now,
so I believe it can be confirmed, but we need more information.

Happy to keep testing. How do I set the application /mnt/cdrom/SETUP.EXE to be a
win95 app using winecfg? The GigaSampler installation dies immediately when I
start it saying I'm not running Win95.
I had never heard of winecfg before. I ran it from the command line, moved to
/mnt/cdrom, chose SETUP.EXE and added it as an app in winecfg. I then told
winecfg that it was a Win95 app. I then tried running wine SETUP.EXE again but
it still failed. The error dialog box says
"GigaSampler requires but did not detect Windows 95.
Please start Windows 95 to run SETUP."
Sorry if I'm missing something obvious.

That patch is not portable! I tried that method already, see here:

I've written a portable patch that handles integer conversions. I sent a
message to wine-devel I thought last night to ask for comments but it hasn't
come through. It's modeled after my last patch so it should cover all the I64
quirks like before. I'll resend it to wine-patches anyways I guess.

The d3dx9.h comes with DirectX SDK, it's not in Wine yet because wine doesn't
have a d3dx9 implementation in it.
Vertex shaders shouldn't cause a crash without an error being raised whatever
graphics card you have especially when you consider NVidias drivers are much
better than ATI's.
Can you try to run the demo under wine please, and I'll try and get someone
with a Nvidia card to try out Dungeon Siege 2.

Can you clarify how to do that further? I downloaded and installed the Cg
compiler (I'm impressed..an application installed successfully, and seems to
work!). I see this compiler will compile the .cg file in the demo package.
However, I'm not clear on the rest. If you just want me to run the already
compiled demo, it's not working:
err:module:import_dll Library d3dx9_24.dll (which is needed by
L"H:\\downloads\\dx9_cg_simple\\dx9_cg_simple.exe") not found
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for
L"H:\\downloads\\dx9_cg_simple\\dx9_cg_simple.exe" failed, status c0000135
Do I need to recompile it with winegcc? That's not happening either:
dx9_cg_simple.cpp:15:19: error: d3dx9.h: No such file or directory
dx9_cg_simple.cpp:16:19: error: Cg/Cg.h: No such file or directory
dx9_cg_simple.cpp:17:23: error: Cg/CgD3D9.h: No such file or directory
Regarding replicating the bug - maybe it's because you run ATI hardware, and
this is an Nvidia card?

OK, I did another "make uninstall", then a "cvs update -PAd" at Mon Sep 26
19:10:19 UTC 2005, followed by "./configure; make depend && make", and "make
install".
With a new wine install, I did "wineprefixcreate", then set 'both "msi" =
"builtin" and "*msiexec.exe" = "builtin" in the
DllOverrides section in user.reg', using winecfg [which is a big step forward,
even if it doesn't have a man page or any documentation at winehq.org. How was I
supposed to know that it exists?].
Finally, with the experiment set up as per prior comments, I did "wine
e:setup.exe" withe the Topo! install CD mounted. InstallShield started, but then
an "Internal Failure" window appeared, telling me:
Error Number 0x80040707
Description:
Clicking "OK" lead to an "InstallShield" window saying:

Finally, I clicked "OK" there and wine exited.

Someone else has reported a bug with vertex shaders, my local tree is OK, I'll
find out what wrong with wine-cvs and send in a fix.
apart from that:
Sound is fairly broken at the moment, half of the games I've been able to get
working only work with sound disabled (disabling sound also speed a lot of
games up)
Installing games can be tricky,
make sure that msi and msiexec are set to builtin, and that wine is in windows
2000 mode.
If you get a lot of OLE errors then you need to switch to windows OLE.
set wine to win98 mode
Download dcom98 from msdn.microsoft.com and install it
then override the following dlls as native, builtin :
ole32, oleaut32 and rpcrt4
and if that works raise a bug against ole.
otherwise raise a bug saying that the game doesn't install.

err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x55a95ec0 "syslevel.c: Win16Mutex"
wait timed out in thread 0009, blocked by 000a, retrying (60 sec)
mark@lightning /mnt/cdrom $
Again, Win16 stuff instead of Win32. Probably this app will never run under Wine?

I had a lot of these errors some days ago, but upgrading xorg-x11 fixed it.
However it seems that some apps still suffer from a bug in xorg-x11 or Wine.
I have xorg-x11-6.8.2-r5 (Gentoo).
If you think this bug is not Wine specific, you can close this bug as well.

This doesnt appear to be a problem with the installer and rather a problem
with W95INF16.DLL which is part of DCOM98.
By any chance is that company the big evil (BBC viewers may of seen their boss
in the news) :-). The way IES4LINUX works is by downloading a pre downloded
package from browsers.evolt.org.
Is there a way you could fix this? I guess it is something to do with the
registry (possible fix for the WGA).
Good luck developers.

Okay I was just beggining to wonder how is it that you manage to get all those
games to run/install! I haven't been able to get a single one running - I've
tried about 6... the one game that worked (Warcraft 3) no longer works (I blame
dsound).
However.... progress. I turned off Vertex Shaders (Hardware -> None).
First time I ran it it said that I have 200MB in my swap file which is not big
enough to run dsiege.. output says Sharing Violation. The second time it ran,
and I can report the same behavior that you saw - I get to the menu, but sound
is choppy, slow, and I can't see the mouse. Output includes this:
err:dsound:DSOUND_MixOne underrun on sound buffer 0x78318518
err:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_SetCursorProperties (0x7ff62cb0) :
surface(0x772c5098) has an invalid size
err:dsound:DSOUND_MixOne underrun on sound buffer 0x78318518

There are lot's of exceptions being kicked up all over the place, the last one
seems to be to do with shaders, can you try to run the game with shaders
either enabled or disabled depending on your current configuration.
It looks like the version I'm running is 2.0, with shaders enabled.

After I run the demo I have to press the space bar and escape a few times to
get ridd of the firsts black screen, then I get the epilepsy warning and
everything runs through fine up to the menu screen.
The mouse pointer is missing because wined3d doesn't support mouse pointers at
the moment and clicking on things seems to work but it doesn't actually start
the game.

I don't think anyone can install IE6 using the installer anymore. Slashdot has
reported that some large company we don't want to mention has decided to check
for the presence of wine on windows update (IE6 installs via windows update so
this would make insatllers pretty much useless). Those in the know seem to be
using a tool called ies4linux to download from a third party site and extract
the cab files manually. Then it can be run with the addition of the usual
dlloverrides. As a casual user I fear that support for this may be dwindling.

>From running my test app it looks like justification is pretty broken right now,
so I think we can assume the patch was not committed. Also it does not apply to
the current CVS.

Paltalk installer starts fine using Wine-CVS, but while copying files it tries
to create an empty directory and says in a dialog box:
"impossible to create directory:"
It's impossible to continue the installation and nothing is shown in the console.

Summary: Q3Radiant UI unusable (OpenGL views overdraw widgets?)
Product: Wine
Version: 20050830
Platform: Other
URL: http://img180.imageshack.us/my.php?image=q3radiant3ef.jp
g
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-gui
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: maikmerten(a)gmx.net
Q3Radiant is Quake III's map editor. It has been GPL'ed lately (together with
Quake III) - as opposed to GTKRadiant, which is a descendant of Q3Radiant under
a proprietary license incompatible with the GPL. It therefore perhaps would be
nice to have it usable in Wine.
This is how it should look like:
http://www.jfedor.org/shots/q3radiant.png
This is how it looks in Wine:
http://img180.imageshack.us/my.php?image=q3radiant3ef.jpg
The App itself is operational. The UI, however, isn't drawn correclty. The
widgets seem to get drawn but they are usually overdrawn by something else (the
embeded OpenGL views?).
Steps to reproduce:
1. Get ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/qeradiant/Q3Radiant/Q3Radiant202Setup.zip
(the GPL'ed version is 200f but I couldn't find a build of that)
2. Create a directory containing a "Quake3.exe" (it doesn't matter if it
actually is Quake III or not).
3. Install Q3Radiant
4. Start up Q3Radiant
Resolving this bug may fix other Apps using OpenGL views and 2D widgets in one
window. E.g. http://easygen.no-ip.org/ exhibits a very similiar problem.
