"err:module:import_dll Library sqlite.dll (which is needed by L"F:\\AGE.exe") not
found" is a meaningless error to you?
If you get that you are definitly not loading the dll dynamically...
The second bunch is just the debugger loading up, to investigate further we need
at least a backtrace or even better an application demonstrating the problem.

I could play wc3 just fine with the previus release. Reading through the changes
I thought I'd give it a try (as I didnt use any options in the configfile
anyway...).
After backin up the config file and updating to 20050628 the game does not find
the cdrom anymore ...
I tried moving ~/.wine to ~/wineold and start with a fresh install, using
winecfg to configure the devices (C: hd, d: cdrom). No luck. Installation works
fine, but the game still cant find the cdrom.
This might be a misconfiguration on my side or a broken securom / device mapping
whatever in wine...
nice work anyway ;)

With CVS 2005-07-15 Delphi 1.0. programs using the quick report won't run
because of failure to get the paper length and width. The component can be added
to a form and fails on running the exe. The TMemo fails when adding to a form in
the IDE. It uses the TStrings object and in the object inspector accessing a
property which uses TString's fails to be created. I can post small exe's which
show the problems.

Just downloaded the trial and tried it.
I'm currently using wine 20050628 (debian).
First thing I noticed was when running install; The splash screen with 'Install'
and 'Exit' buttons was at the top of everything and center of the screen and
stayed there for the installation. All the installer dialogs except for the two
last ones were partially under the splash screen, which probably should have
closed or at least not being at top of everything! The two last dialogs were
completely under the splash screen and had to be selected from window manager's
window list (though it only showed a single wine window) and then pressed enter
to complete the installation.
The game seemed to be working almost perfectly, no crashing occured, sound
worked, but graphics rendering was slow (it was playable though). Also the main
menu GUI seemed to be unresponsive, it took about 1 sec to react to, for
example, having cursor over a button, this might be caused by the slow graphics
rendering of the game. Also, when holding mouse middle button in a started game,
the icon/cursor showing the initial position of cursor is displayed in a white
box instead of showing properly and is even affected by shadows and goes under
the trees too :-D (or maybe a bug in the game??)

Just wanted to add my observations to this topic:
Heroes4 runs fine (no sound stuttering etc. when the mouse cursor isn't moved or
any other "active" animation happens [like riding with your hero], CPU usage
goes up from 20% to 100% on my box then) - it also runs fine when when you move
the mouse on the right side of the screen, so this slowness (and the resulting
sound stuttering) is related to the drawing of the map screen - but you probably
already know this :)
I am also flooded with the debug message
fixme:bitblt:X11DRV_BitBlt potential optimization - client-side DIB copy
Situation didn't change with Wine 20050628.

The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because
the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a
different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded
exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.
Note: Yes, the patch is correct. It is a patch to go from Notes 6.5.2 to 6.5.3
and I do indeed have Notes 6.5.2 installed.

Hmm, an app uses MSI engine. Maybe try installing native engine:
http://wiki.winehq.org/NativeMsi
But then you will need add "msi, msiexec.exe=n" to your WINEDLLOVERRIDES

So you are not sure if you will be able to find the same conditions to make QW
install again?

Have no opinion, but I will allways use "wineboot" in such cases.

Quick analysis by Alexandre Julliard:
> The \??\ is the NT prefix, that's normal. The problem is apparently

Ok, looking again the debug output, I see first
-------------
trace:ntdll:NtCreateFile handle=0x45000104 access=80000000
name=L"\\??\\C:\\Program Files\\origin6.0\\" objattr=00000040 root=(nil)

-------------
disp(osition)=1 is FILE_CREATE (fails if file exists, otherwise creates file).
Only later it then tries CreateFileW with TRUNCATE_EXISTING (creation 3).
Seemingly, either the file does not yet exist when CreateFileW is called or
something else goes wrong here.

But with native OLE/RPC it didn't work neither.
I still need someone apt to decipher the file error, which is the real problem

ReportedBy: david(a)cantrell.org.uk
I recently upgraded my Mac laptop to from 10.2 to OS X 10.4 (Tiger), without changing anything on the
Linux machine which I use for running wine and Forte Agent. When displaying on OS X with the new
version of X11.app that comes with it, wine and Forte Agent sometimes crashes hard within moments
of the application starting. Wine spits the following to the Linux machine's console:
X Error of failed request: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)
Major opcode of failed request: 38 (X_QueryPointer)
Resource id in failed request: 0x57
Serial number of failed request: 397
Current serial number in output stream: 397
It's possible that the bug is in fact in the new version of X11.app on OS X, but this seems unlikely
seeing that other applications which I run on Linux but display on the Mac work correctly, including
Mozilla Firefox and The Gimp.

I thought I should add that one of the bugs marked as a duplicate of this one
does not really seem to be covered in any comments. Dsound output hisses using
any given version of foobar2000. It is fairly obvious - to test for sure just
play some silence. This is using winealsa, but also occurs with wineoss.. and
winejack. Sounds like some weird bit depth issue - the noise is just high
frequency white noise. Sample rate affects quality of static slightly. It occurs
with 8 and 16 bit output.

As a workaround one can set RelayExclude="ntdll.*" but this will also suppress
direct calls from foo into ntdll and should not be necessary.

OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2

AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: t.serries(a)lvm.de
When trying to open a Powerpoint document using the file-open-dialog (in
Powerpoint2000 SR-1) wine is running into a deadlock:
...
err:syslevel:_CheckNotSysLevel Holding lock 0x2a3a92e0 level 3
err:syslevel:_EnterSysLevel (0x41e94c40, level 2): Holding 0x2a3a92e0, level 3.
Expect deadlock!
err:syslevel:_EnterSysLevel (0x41e94c40, level 2): Holding 0x2a3a92e0, level 3.
Expect deadlock!
...
Earlier wine-versions are producing similar messages but are worse: They run
into the deadlock prior to clicking on the open-button (tested with 20040719,
20041019 and 20050524).
As there are no problems opening documents in Word and Excel I supposed a
problem with the preview of the file-open-dialog in Powerpoint. But in
wine-20050628 the preview is working fine.
Opening Powerpoint documents by submitting the filename by command line
parameter is also working fine (for all wine versions).

Furthermore is see you used crossover, maybe you could just try cvs wine, see if

I would try generating "+loaddll,+ole" traces, but the only workaround I will be
able to think of is to set OLE32, OLEAUT32 and maybe RPCRT4 dlls from builtin to
natives:
WINEDLLOVERRIDE="ole32,oleaut32,rpcrt4=n" wine ...
Not always all the three dlls need to be overrided - experiment on your own. :-)

This info may help. Anim8or (3d modelling & animation) has the same problem with
wine-20050524. It's clear from the display that the opengl `view' area is
mispositioned. I suspect this is a problem with the `origin' of the display not
getting set and thus overdrawing the menu area. Another possibility is that
there is an unwanted border around the opengl view space and that it is this
border that is overdrawing the menubar. There's some evidence of that in the
fact that the view area is blue whereas the menus are blacked out. Menus still
function correctly when the mouse is clicked where the menu item should be.

Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: PC

ReportedBy: kelfe(a)gmx.de
in the CVS version starting from the 2005-07-01 the new EM_GETLINECOUNT function
breaks the Eve Online logserver.
the function returns the value 2
if you overwrite the return value with 0 the logserver works as before
Reproduction:
- run the logserver.exe (download the full client at http://www.eve-online.com/
or the logsserver.exe from http://elfe.mine.nu/eve/logserver.exe.bz2)
- create a new workspace (CTRL+W)
result:
- pre 2005-07-01 a window with white background opens and would show log entries
if the game runs
- 2005-07-01 and later the logserver opens an error window "Error reading
RichEdit.Lines.Strings: RichEdit line insertion error."

Confirmed. This looks like a anti-debugging issue (not really "copy protection"
since it's freeware, right?) - the exception you mention is handled just fine,
unless you run the program in a debugger.
The program termination seems to be caused by unrelated code which first does
CreateFile/ReadFile/CloseHandle - that code probably compares the process memory
with the file on disk, sees some differences and calls ExitProcess.

I've a strange problem with Origin 6:
If I try to save an Origin project or worksheet (internal Origin format), I get
a message box stating that it couldn't save "maybe not enough space". Exporting
e.g. as ascii files, etc. works though (free HD space: 200 MiB, Origin fiĺe
should be few KiB).
I'd guess it is needless to say that this works under Windows.
I get the following output when starting and not output when trying to save:
---------------------------------------
fixme:msvcrt:_setmbcp Unreal codepages (e.g. -3) not implemented
fixme:ole:CoRegisterMessageFilter stub
fixme:ole:CoRegisterMessageFilter stub
fixme:ole:CoRegisterMessageFilter stub
err:x11drv:X11DRV_CreateWindow invalid window width -22
fixme:profile:GetPrivateProfileIntW result may be wrong!
fixme:storage:StgCreateDocfile Transacted mode not implemented.
fixme:ole:CoRegisterMessageFilter stub
---------------------------------------
Any idea which debug channel might be of help?
Tested with 20050211 and a CVS version (20050628), i.e. this is not a regression
or at least not a recent regression.

Hi, could you please tell me how long ago this demo DID work. I went back to cvs
version of 28 april 2004, and it still doesn't run. I can't compile wineversions
from 2003 because of some errors about missing pthreads. If you could just tell
at least in what year it used to run, it might be helpfull :)

If you can use CVS to regression test this to find the patch that broke it, It
would be really helpfull. To find out how to do regression testing please refer
to the following link.

Okay, so at this point (merged Stateblocks, render targets,
vertex declarations, drawprim fix)
the SetSampler errors are gone, and
all that's left are the setRenderState errors.
Current status is that it eats memory until the
OOM killer takes it out (on the startup screen).
I understand from what Oliver has told me
that this is expected behavior since
there is no proper memory management yet.

There are multiple versions of wine of your system:
__wine_register_dll_16 is an internal function that was renamed to
__wine_dll_register_16 in the latest release.
Best to remove all traces of wine from your system and then install again.

The todo_wine test is in place in msvcrt.dll test suite for this case.
If i comment the "todo_wine" lines for run a "normal" test in printf.c, it fail
with the "%I64d" format as expected since this bug is always present in the last
wine snapshot (20050628).
Maybe it's a good idea to implement a special case for I64 and I32 in
dlls/msvcrt/wcs.c, like %n for example in the function pf_vsnprintf ?
If it's the good place to implement this feature maybe I can do a patch for
close this bug ?
Any comments ?

Summary: listview columns do not sort in Acemoney

Platform: PC
URL: http://www.mechcad.net/products/acemoney/
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

ReportedBy: smithb25(a)anz.com
App: AceMoney v3.7.2 (problem common to all versions). Free download.
Wine: 20050524, Debian package. Wine works fine.
Acemoney (a home accounting program) displays a 'register' for each account
listing transactions. By default, these transactions should be sorted by date
order, however under wine they are not: they appear to be displayed in the
order in which they are entered (and therefore presumably are stored in the
data file).
The 'Date' column contains a sort arrowhead (indicating that the default sort
is selected I suppose), though the data is not sorted. Clicking on the column
header also does not sort the rows. Clicking on another column does not re-
sort the rows with the order of the new column.
Column resizing works fine, and clicking on the column header does 'depress' it
like a button, but nothing else happens.
Sorting works fine on Win 2000 and Win XP. Data is not affected, and I can
move between wine and Win XP without causing any corruption. It is simply the
display of the data.
I tried switching to a native comctl32 (via a config file), but that failed to
load and wine/acemoney exited code 1. Switched back and it works again. I've
also searched bugzilla and the wine mailing lists with combinations
of 'column', 'listview', 'sort', 'order' etc but haven't found the issue.

Thanks guys!
Adding
[AppDefaults\\Shareaza.exe\\DllOverrides]
"comctl32" = "native"
to ~/.wine/config did the trick.
Now I still run into trouble when I actually try to connect to a server, but
that seems to be a totally unrelated problem.
Thanks again

Hi, i just tried this program too.
It indeed hangs in the splash screen. Copied native comctl32.dll and commctrl.dll
to ~/.wine/windows/system and ran with:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="comctl32=n" wine ~/.wine/drive_c
/Program\ Files/Shareaza/Shareaza.exe
It seems to work just fine then. Maybe you could try this method too, and then
try a WINEDEBUG=+snoop to see what it's really calling in comctl32. Let me know
if it works for you too. Greetings!

I still see the problem on my debian box with wine 0.0.20050524-1 from unstable
and Shareaza 2.1.2 beta. It continues to hang on the splash screen when the
progressbar has almost made it to the right.
jlh: if it does run for you, maybe I'm battling a configuration issue here.
Could you send your wine.ini (the general part and the part, if there is one,
regarding wine). It would be very much appreciated.
Fixing the remaining problems in Shareaza might be a reasonable option. For
example the lockup on changing menus is very peculiar and might be caused by
Shareaza using undocumented/unsupported features in the win32 api. Making this
work reliably in wine could be a much bigger task than slightly changing
Shareaza. And I have heard of no other programs that exhibit this particular
problem.

With the latest Wine CVS (20050705), setup actually doesn't crash for me
(using builtin MSI and dcom). But it still has two anoying bugs (I'm using the
German DVD release, BTW):
1.) Every element (title, headline, text, buttons) shows PostScript-like font
tags. Makes it impossible to read button labels.
2.) You need to accept the EULA by clicking a radio button. Those radio
buttons are inactive (grayed out on Windows, but not on Wine) and only become
active if you scroll the EULA all the way down. Or better: _should_ become
active, but on Wine, they never become active, so the 'Next' button stays
grayed out - therefore, it's impossible to accept the EULA and install HL².

An update: More recent versions of wine (at least Wine-20050524) don't have this
particular problem anymore, Shareaza (including the 2.1.2.0 beta) now starts
again without that I have to undo the changes that caused it to fail earlier.
However, Shareaza's stability (on Wine) has worsened, IMHO. Also the symptoms
of malfunction have changed. It now even hangs on simple actions like opening/
closing tabs.
Running Shareaza on wine is and has always been very unstable and as I see it,
it is not suitable for everyday use. However, this might heavily depend on the
kind of wine installation one has and its configuration. Experts might be able
to tweak it to a usable state. I'd recommend to non-experts of Shareaza/Wine/
Linux to have a look at alternatives. Though I didn't find one that is
equivalent.
Modifying Shareaza to make it run better in wine might or might not work. In
any case, I don't consider it "The Right Thing" to do, as it's clear that it's
wine's task to make Shareaza properly run on linux, not Shareaza's. Shareaza
runs without problems on the platform it was written for. However, if the
required modifications to Shareaza are very small (which I doubt very much) and
it would make things run much better, then it might be worth it. But keep in
mind that wine is in constant movement and it probably won't take long until new
problems appear. To constantly update Shareaza to make it still work in wine is
sure not a good thing.
The best thing one can do, is to help in wine development. And even if that
effort serves the only goal to make Shareaza work, wine devs will still
appreciate it.

I'd like to help with fixing this, but as jlh has narrowed down the problem
already, it seems there is not much more for a layman to do. I've been hoping a
fix would go in for a while now, as this is currently the only reason for me to
use wine. Shareaza 2.1.2 beta still hangs on the splash screen. I'm considering
diving into the Shareaza source to try and circumvent the problem there. Is
that a wise course of action? It goes without saying I would be very grateful
if this issue gets solved.

Summary: Fullscreen problem in Quake2-based games
Product: Wine
Version: 20050628
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-x11driver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: zarquon(a)t-online.de
Version 20050628 doesn't allow properly positioning the window in Quake2-based
games anymore (verified with SoF and Heretic2). I have Desktop-entries in the
x11drv-section of most games which position the window correctly for my window
manager (CTWM) in my config file (e.g. "Desktop" = "1600x1200-6-29") and this
still appears to work in UT- or Q3-based games, but not in Q2-based ones
which position the window origin rather than the window contents origin at
0,0. The window position can't be changed either (well, it tries jumping back
to its original position, and depending on your drag/release timing it
sometimes succeeds, sometimes not), but that appears to be caused by the
games' fullscreen option (in windowed mode, the windows are still placed at
the wrong position, but they can be repositioned; unfortunately, the window
contents are too small to fill the entire screen in windowed mode).
The whole problem is probably caused by Wine forcing window positions now; if
that's the case: please provide an option to disable this behaviour in future
versions. I'd far rather have the kind of control over these positions the
x11drv-Desktop option and my window manager gave me.

Version: 20050628

Severity: normal

Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

The mouse input is broken in "Solder of Fortune". Everything is OK at the
title screen, but once the game starts, mouse input is totally chopped (looks
like the mouse is only read a couple of times per second). If you then return
to the title screen, the mouse doesn't work properly there either. This seems
to be SoF-specific (other Quake2-based games like Heretic2 are fine). The last
working version of Wine was 20050211, it's been broken since 20050310.

I'll try to to accomplish that in few days, but...
To make things even more bizarre:
After submitting the bug reports I again downgraded wine to snapshot 20050524,
only to find I can't either record in OSS emulation (downgrading ALSA didn't
help). Still, in native ALSA mode, old snapshot plays and records just fine.
Then I took my Live! out and tested another soundcards: fm801 (ForteMedia) and
Realtek ALC (intel8x0 driver), they work fine in both OSS and ALSA modes.

How long does it take to upload it for you?

You can use a packet sniffer (Ethereal for example) to figure that out.

No, why? I don't claim that the bug is in ProFTPD (or something) but some
differences between your uploads and mine probably trigger the bug (in Wine).

Highly unlikely as FTP uses seperate connections to transfer files.

information is thrown at console).
I removed old registry and config file and reconfigured Wine from scratch using
winecfg- didn't
change anything. I have no Windows installation, everything is taken care of by
wine's builtin DLLs. My soundcard is SB Live!.

I appologise if this is bad. It's my first bug report.
As you can see, the URL is a screenshot of a bug that occurs whilst running
Editplus under Wine. What happens is, Editplus has a feature which allows you to
save a file, and it uploads directly to a server via FTP. A status window opens,
to show the percent of the file that has been uploaded. The problem is with
large files, it always gets stuck on 100%. The upload is successful, but the
status window stays on 100%. In order to get rid of it, you have to click
'cancel' every time. The uploaded file is fine, but it's just very annoying,
having to wait around, and click cancel when it gets to 100%, every time you
upload a file.
Thanks,
-Russell Thomas

The 0x80040706 error is still present in latest CVS when trying to install
GoogleEarth on a clean CVS wine install without any native Windows binaries...

Regedit 4 importable file
This is a Regedit four importable file that can bring in the large number of
overrides that cause the crash. I think it may be necessary to change the
username mentioned in each of the entries (to import to correct user).

Summary: winecfg crashes when viewing large number of dll
overrides
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-tools
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: adam.j.cooper(a)ntlworld.com
I have just copied over all the dll overrides into the user reg from the
winetools utilities and have reformated them by exporting the registry (using
regedit) and saving the relevent dlloverrides section then importing them to a
fresh .wine directory.
When attempting to use winecfg to view these overrides it instantly crashes into
a winedbg session reporting 'buffer overflows' or some such.
By adding the overrides using the winecfg interface you can reach the same error
after about 10-12 dlls.
