While trying to test bug 8018, I fetched a copy of SmartBarXP, installed it,
and tried to run it. The profile window opens, but when I try to continue, the
program suddenly quits without any indication of the cause. Since the reporter
of bug 8018 used 0.9.34, I performed a regression test and found the breaking

Hi,
I have recently installed Wine 6.0 onto my Chromebook.
I have also installed some windows based programs which seem to work fine.
One such program is GSAK which is a SQLlite database progam. Most of it works
just fine with the except that it needs to access another website through an
API.
It doesn't seem to grab the token needed to access it. On a true windows based
system it works as it is supposed too. Any thoughts?

shortly after startup in Wine, because it is importing opengl32.dll symbols by
ordinal instead of by name.

Terminal Output when trying to launch Flash
Hi
I've recently installed Flash 8 on my Gentoo install of Wine 0.9.52. Upon
trying to launch it, it will display the startup banner, then instantly exit.
I've used the following methods to try load the program:
Launcher (on Desktop) - env WINEPREFIX="/home/paulw/.wine" wine "C:\Program
Files\Macromedia\Flash 8\Flash.exe"
Run Application - env WINEPREFIX="/home/paulw/.wine" wine "C:\Program
Files\Macromedia\Flash 8\Flash.exe"
and
wine "C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash 8\Flash.exe"
and
wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Macromedia/Flash\ 8/Flash.exe
Aswell as in a terminal by cd'ing to the folder and then launching flash
cd ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Macromedia/Flash\ 8/
wine Flash.exe
When running in a Terminal, I get the error attached.
I have tried wiping my Wine installation and re-installing from scratch,
including fresh installs of Flash 8. I also installed Flash 8 through Wine
itself.
As a side note. Dreamweaver 8 works perfectly, it's only Flash which fails to
load at all.

To reproduce, create a file with greek characters such as "ΑΒΓΔ.txt".
Run notepad and open the file in the open file dialog.
Observe that the filename shows up as "ΑΒ??.txt" instead of "ΑΒΓΔ.txt".
Lei pointed out that most fonts should have the glyphs needed to display greek
characters, so this is unlikely a font issue....

There is severe performance regression with non GDI mode with this game, when
HoMM3 HD Launcher is used. The regression occurs both with vanilla and staging
3.xx wine versions. I also tried and PBA to no avail. If I choose 32-bit GDI or
32-bit True (stretchable) GDI, the game running fine. All other modes has slow
performance problems and some of them are very serious - with mouse, scroll and
horse movement lag. I tried Nvidia proprietary driver and Nouveau with the same
result. With Wine 2.21 all is working correct and there isn't performance
problems at all.

If you workaround bug 3591 with an imagehlp.dll override, then you run into
fixme:resource:get_resource_section .rsrc isn't the last section even though
bug 3897 implemented BeginUpdateResource & EndUpdateResource.
py2exe is handy for building Python Windows executables from Linux.

Wine setup: I set up a new wine prefix to have the least changes necessary to
reproduce this bug:
1. create new 32-bit prefix
2. use winetricks to install dotnet472 in it
3. use winetricks to install corefonts in it
4. run regedit in it and navigate to/create
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Avalon.Graphics and create
DisableHWAcceleration with the value 1 (DWORD Value)
5. download Hearthstone Deck Tracker at
https://github.com/HearthSim/Hearthstone-Deck-Tracker/releases/download/v1.…
6. extract it to <wine prefix>/drive_c/Program Files
7. from your wine prefix run <wine prefix>/drive_c/Program Files/Hearthstone
Deck Tracker.exe
To easily reproduce the bug, copy a deck code (example one: ###Weapon Warrior

open Hearthstone Deck Tracker, click import > from deck code > save only >
save, and hover over one of the cards. You will see an image of a blank card
that says loading, but doesn't load.
Since Hearthstone Deck Tracker is an open source program, I did some sleuthing
and found out a bunch of things that should be helpful:
1. go to <wine prefix>/drive_c/users/<user>/Application Data/Logs/hdt_log.txt
and you will see the error code `Unable to download <cardId>.png: The
underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send.`
2. the file in the source code that starts this error is

Adobe Lightroom 2.3 Demo causes an unhandled exception due to unimplemented
function GdipCreateHICONFromBitmap following installation.
To use the trial, the patch from Bug 14930 must be applied.

The trial only shows the fault immediately after installation. Subsequent
times it exits silently (which is probably a different bug).
Someone with a full version will have to confirm if this occurs repeatedly for
that.
With native gdiplus, the trial does not show an unhandled exception, and simply

After installing the Adobe Lightroom 2.3 demo (using
http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=17777 to work around bug 14930) to a
new wine prefix, a +loaddll log shows:

When trying to install Libronix 3.0g, several "fixme" lines show up and one
error. The error is:
err:richedit:ReadStyleSheet missing style number
If I use winetricks and install riched20, this error goes away.
The installation is a two step process. The first step is to install the "core
installer". For testing, the "core installer" can be downloaded from
http://www.logos.com/support/downloads/ldls/newuser

Logos Bible Software is a bit like Kindle but with a focus on theological books
that are all hyperlinked and indexed for fast research. To function the
software must index the books (often thousands) to enable fast searches. Every
time a new book is added indexing must take place.
Logos Bible software works very well (bronze) on wine but it is necessary to
set win version to xp and 32bit for indexing to succeed. The 64bit version of
the app runs with win version set to 7 but regardless of the win version
setting indexing fails.
The Logos indexer runs in a separate process with the following command:
WINEPREFIX=/home/$USER/.wine-logos/ wine c\:'/users/$USER/Local
Settings/Application Data/Logos/System/LogosIndexer.exe'
Note if the index is already created it will complete immediately. Otherwise it
runs in the system tray and has a simple menu that allows indexing to be paused
temporarily.

missing a decoder for h264.

Log of the issue with wine-vanilla 5.17
>From wine v5.0 to the latest v5.17, wineserver always is using 100% of CPU
core.
Using the latest wine-vanilla v5.17, I started the wineserver in debug mode
with the output to a "log_big.txt", then started Logos Bible 8 and waited until
all the startup services were finished, then minimized the window and waited a
little longer , to highlight the issue, so I used "tail -f ./log_big.txt
>>./log_wineserver_v5.17.txt" to produce a new log file with as little noise as
possible, waited a little, then cancelled the tail (so it don't have any noise
of closing events). See the attached log.
Many users still prefer to use version 4.21 of wine, as there is no such
problem in it. But other issues that have already been fixed are present in the
old version. So we need one proper fix.

The IsNormalizedstring fixme seems the culprit; first i hacked the stub just to
return true and that worked, but it is also enough to remove the
SetLasterror(ERROR_CALL_NOT_IMPLEMENTED) from the stub.

suggests to check for last error ERROR_SUCCESS if the function returns FALSE,
so i guess that would be a more logical way of setting that error ( or maybe

- Install Logos 8 (you can sign up for a free account at
https://www.logos.com/), the most recent Logos 8 32-bit download link is here:

- Start Logos and login. As it starts to download / sync "resources" after some
minutes it will crash as above. Then every time after restarting Logos it will
produce the same crash nearly immediately.

To work around several 'msvcr120'/'msvcp120' insufficiencies (covered by other
bug reports), both must be still set to 'native' (app provides the runtime
itself in install directory). The UMS API is actually pulled in by native
'msvcr120' - the 'purist' mode is unusable.

The crash at startup of Dynamic HTML Editor has been fixed (bug 13516), but the
app is still unusable due to screen refresh problems. This affects both the
latest version of the app (5.5) as well as the older version (4.3).
Tested in wine-1.2-rc2-91-g4ae5325.

Hello,
I have tried to run the slingplayer to connect to my slingbox using the
methodology described in http://cyberpunkcafe.com/page.php?74. This produces a
crash of Wine as per attachment.
Note that I am using Ubuntu Gusty 7.10, Wine 0.9.51, Slingplayer as per URL:

Any assistance to get this working is greatly appreciated.

Hi, the newest installer (I don`t know the version, it`s not displayed on the
website) crashes with the attached log, both in staging (2.21) and in current
wine (after using hack to work around bug 40613).
The older installer used to at least install the application fine.
Steps to reproduce:
1. winetricks dotnet462
2. Cd into the directory where the installer resides and do:
/opt/wine-staging/bin/wine runas /trustlevel:0x20000 WhatsAppSetup.exe

Console log from Dynamic HTML Editor crash
Another user originally posted a question about this in the forum
(http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=1078), though without any console
output. I downloaded the demo from the website
(http://www.dynamic-html-editor.com/en/download.asp), which actually has a
warning on the download page telling Mac and Linux users that they need to use
Virtual PC, VMware, or "another Windows emulator" to run the program. The demo
installs fine. When I tried to run the program, I got an initial screen telling
me this was just a demo, and when I clicked okay, the program crashed. I'm
attaching the console log.

Since Wine 5.18, The Sims Complete Collection, when trying to play its intro
movie, now exits on launch.
In the logs, I see a single fixme:
0128:fixme:amstream:ddraw_sink_NewSegment iface 02241FA4, start 0, stop
ffffffffffffffff, rate 1.0000000000000000e+00, stub!
indicating that it tries to use IPin::NewSegment method, which is stubbed out.
I tried changing the return code for this stub to S_OK and unfortunately it did
not change the behavior. So perhaps it needs a proper implementation of this
method.
If I skip the game intro using a special argument, the game loads and functions
just fine. Note that this only affects Complete Collection, older versions
aren't affected.
Attached to the bug report is a log with -all,+quartz,+amstream debug channels.

Wine console output running with vanilla wine.

According to mplayer, the movie codec is MPEG1.

AirDC++ (all versions from 2014 until now, 32bit and 64) display graphical
glitches in the transfers area and the user share browsing. also some glitches
in the network config display as reported here
(https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45744).
Browsing file shares does not refresh the whole display are when going into a
different folder. Whatever was shown previously remains on the screen unless
there's something to draw over it.
The black area in the transfers goes away if you resize it or if some file
transfers are initiated (it draws over it).
Basically all glitches related to incorrect rendering because of stale
graphical elements not being refreshed properly.
Tested with wine versions as old as 2.x and the bugs are still present.

("kernel32: Move debugger functions to kernelbase.") one could use 'debugstr'
channel facility for apps/drivers that make use of 'OutputDebugStringA/W' API
without all the other debug channels noise. Definitely helpful besides running
the app under a debugger or Sysinternal's 'DebugView' tool.
After that commit one had to use 'seh' debug channel and filter all the
unwanted messages to get a similar result.
With the fix for bug 48059 ("IMVU Social Network Client v539 hangs"), commit
https://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commitdiff/4ac3cbd6ccba52ad8d528ee74…
("kernel32: Duplicate OutputDebugStringA implementation.") to old 'debugstr'
debug channel got reintroduced again which leads to inconsistent behavior.
If the app calls 'OutputDebugStringA' - which only few do - one can still use
the old 'debugstr' channel but any 'OutputDebugStringW' calls won't be seen.
That's not very useful.
Either put 'OutputDebugStringA' into 'seh' debug channel or duplicate
'OutputDebugStringW' to kernel32.

There's clearly some nonsense going on with hooking. The game tries to call
kernel32.OutputDebugString(), which, instead of then executing Wine's
implementation, instead goes on to write the message to a file in the game's
directory, repeatedly, in a loop.
Reverting 3b002685f fixes this. Changing kernel32's spec file to forward to
kernelbase instead of using an import thunk also fixes this. What's confusing
me is I can't figure out how the hooking is actually done. Tracing the code of
OutputDebugString(), both A and W versions, both from kernel32 and kernelbase,
never seems to show signs of hooking, i.e. it's entirely identical to the
version on disk.
Note that the application requires an email-based account to be created.

The backtrace followed by a copy of the end of the terminal output
Shamela is an electronic arabic library which downloads packages, imports the
books which are in it and enable the user to read it and make plain-text
searches.
I use it with Linux 4.9.0-5-amd64 under Debian 6.3.0-18.
When I launch it with Wine as a non-root user, it downloads and imports the
books, but if I select a book to read it crashes. I attached the backtrace with
the end of the terminal output. Sometimes it doesn't do anything when I select
the book, but if I try again it crashes.
(It does run well with Wine when I execute it as root, yet it doesn't seems to
me a good idea to do it.)

Normally, when opening the program will open a small window. Click on the right
button. If it doesn't, click on the "upgrade" button (first on the left in the
most recent versions).
Then unselect all the directories (it will take a few seconds if you do it by

book and press the right button in the bottom-right corner. When the next
question appears, click on the left button.
When the download ends, wait a little and click on the "Select book" icon
(first on the right). Open the first directory and double-click on the book. If
you are not in root, a window should appear informing you about the error.
Click on the right button in the bottom-left corner to see the backtrace, and
again on the right button to save it.

With the ntdll-Junction_Points, there's a few remaining issues that are
unimplemented:
- When opening a symbolic link with CreateFile(), it doesn't take the
FILE_FLAG_OPEN_REPARSE_POINT flag into account. E.g. if the symlink points at a
nonexistent file, if the link is opened with CreateFile() with the
FILE_FLAG_OPEN_REPARSE_POINT flag set, the operation should succeed (inspecting
the link), but without the flag, it should fail (as the link points at a
nonexistent file). Currently, it succeeds in both cases.
- If inspecting the handle opened with CreateFile() with
GetFileInformationByHandleEx(FileAttributeTagInfo), the ReparseTag field is
left zero.
This can be tested with the attached test app. On real windows, it prints
something like this:

Test program
In order to generically delete a file system entry, regardless of whether it is
a regular file, symlink or directory, one can open a handle to it and delete it
with a call to SetFileInformationByHandle(FileDispositionInfo). By opening the
handle with FILE_FLAG_OPEN_REPARSE_POINT, a potential symlink gets handled by
removing the symlink itself, not the target file it points to.
If a handle opened with the FILE_FLAG_OPEN_REPARSE_POINT flag set turns out to
be a directory, error reporting for the SetFileInformationByHandle call fails.
This is caused by [1] in combination with [2]. These two cases make O_SYMLINK,
which includes O_PATH, be added when opening the file descriptor which turns
out to be a directory. The O_PATH flag causes the later fdopendir() and
readdir() to not return anything, causing is_dir_empty [3] to indicate that the
directory is empty and removal will succeed, even though it doesn't.
This triggers errors in a std::filesystem testcase in libc++ [4], when checking

The launcher and game starts normally and gets all the way to the main menu
where it tries to connect to game servers for ~10 seconds and crashes after
that.
Works normally when downgraded to wine64 5.15.

Error File
On Manjaro. PASCO Capstone (software required in my Physics course) installed
and worked fine until November Manjaro update, with updated wine packages. Now
it installed fine, but doesn't start. I tried installing it with older versions
of wine, but 1.13+ give the same error now, and anything below starts the
program, but shows no content (as if it couldnt load part of the code, since
the menubar shows up)
I know this seems like a Manjaro problem, but could it maybe also be a wine
problem?

Backtrace when opening clan screen
WoWS cannot enter Inventory screen or clan screen. When trying, it opens up a
semi-transparent layer with a anchor-symbol with an animation. This step
happens on Windows as well to indicate the loading. Under wine there is no
further progress. In the better case, the screen stays as is forever. In the
worse case (happens most often with inventory) there is a stack backtrace being
displayed. In both cases the user can proceed by closing the semi-transparent
layer.

Hello folks,
by having a large number of consecutive games within same session, the client
will eventually run out of GL memory.
Not sure if this is a Wine bug or a bug in the game engine itself.
It doesn't matter if ARB or GLSL shader backend (default), CSMT or non-CSMT
(default) is used.
Plain Wine and Wine-Staging (for CSMT).
The leak is around 50-70 MB per game so it takes 20-30 games until it becomes
apparent.
When that happens you get strange effects due to failing GL calls.

Hi,
I am trying to run the game World of Warships on FreeBSD 10.2 with 32bit wine
version 1.7.53 (not staging).
I followed procedure described on forums to install directx9, wininet and other
dependencies, a procedure that worked on a GNU/Linux (devuan) and a OSX
installations.
On this FreeBSD however, while the initial installer works, the launched that
will then download real game assets and such simply fails with a dialog box
saying:
An unhandled exception is occured. The application will be restarted
With the choice "OK" looping forever with that issue, and "Cancel" exiting. One
more information is that there have been report about trying to enable/disable
torrent download by edition a plain text config file inside the game, but it
did not change anything.
Here is the console output of wine, if somebody could take a look... I don't
see why it's working even on OSX but not FreeBSD...

Application error message
I have been able to install and play the game world of warships on GNU/Linux
(Devuan Linux), but copying the wine prefix, I cannot run it on FreeBSD as I am
getting a "out of memory" message.
This is a bit strange, as I should have plenty available... I am using the
packaged version of wine development version.

focht's nagato "floating" in port after return from game (water surface level

Hello folks,
that game got me hooked up at bit (= less time on bugs *g*).
Unfortunately I frequently encounter a nasty in-game bug that surfaces after a
certain amount of time/actions.
I created a support ticket at wargaming.net with screenshots along with some
information.
The ticket hang in pending queue for ~1 week only to be answered by a generic
form "please update your graphics drivers". Oh well.
I mentioned this issue during talks with WineD3D folks at WineConf 2015.
It seems this issue was already known to CodeWeavers (Stefan Doesinger, Matteo
Bruni, Caron Wills).
It's not known yet if this is a Wine bug, a bug with the wargaming engine or
graphics drivers.
There was a hint from Caron to try "low" water rendering setting but I figured
out the bug is present there too but much less noticeable (smaller water
surface "drop" value).
It seems I could force the in-game water surface level drop multiple times by
moving the ship near an island/land mass and then zoom in/zoom out with island
in view (couldn't reproduce consistently though).
If the water drop happened once - it stayed forever - even the ships in port
floated in the air.
Exiting and restarting the client solved the issue.
I encountered the bug with WoWS 0.4.0 upgrade for the first time.
Previous 0.3.x version didn't show it but also crashed more frequently hence
there never was a time when the client ran for consecutive (hour long) game
sessions.
I briefly looked at the game engine and found some game engine locations
related to water rending properties along with their float representations.
Since I didn't want to mess up my account by live-debugging/dumping game engine
data (which could be considered hacking) I refrained from doing further
investigation.
A builtin offline simulation mode would have been nice ... but well.
Tested with recent Wine 1.7.5x version.

upon launching the installed game, it spends a couple minutes "loading" and
then crashes.
The generated .crash and .dmp files are attached.

World of Warships (WoWs) 0.6.9 crashes with Critical Error Occurred.
This seems to be same error as #4314 but the workaround (changing Windows
version on winecfg) doesn't effect.
Wargaming releases update of MacWrapper (wine Wargaming's custom for MacOS) to
fix this problem:

This is the screen shot of the error message
Updated to the most recent wrapper for World of Warships, and the most recent
game update. The game now crashes when you start the game. (Pressing PLAY) I
submited a ticket with wargaming but they advised to contact you. Attach is
the screen shot of the error message. I was unable to run the debugger.

This bug is very similar to #42707.
When in WoWS port screen there are several management screens that use CEF.
Those cannot be opened. When trying, an additional half-transparent layer is
created on top the graphics, three dots are written on top (this should be
replaced by the screen title if working) and in the middle of the screen
there's an anchor symbol with an animation. On the top right corner a hint is
displayed to press ESC to leave. Nothing else is being displayed. Pressing ESC
brings you back to the original screen and the transparent layer is removed.
This happens at least with:
- Inventory screen
- News screen
- Clan screen
- "Invite a friend"
Environment:
- Wine version is 2.13, downloaded from build.opensuse.org/Emulators
- Host is (uname -a): Linux jordan 4.4.74-18.20-default #1 SMP Fri Jun 30

After several attempts, I suppose there is a big bug with Google SketchUp 6 and
7 and the use of ATI Video Cards driver in Ubuntu 9.04
As ATI drivers (not proprietary) are already installed in Ubuntu 9.04 and is
not possible to use the proprietary driver such as ATI Catalyst and fglrx, it
is impossible to use Google SketchUp 7.
Installation is not a problem, then menus and tools bar are visible and usable
but the working screen is black and nothing appears. The black zone is the 3d
environment which requires the proper drivers and settings.
It's known it is possible to use SketchUp 7 with Invida graphics card but seems
impossible to use with ATI's.
Any ideas how to fix this bug?

The problem here is that debuggers expect to receive startup debug events about
process/thread creation, loading of modules etc. If they are not received, the
debugger can't synchronize its state machine in the debugger loop.

wine log output for selected print option
Sketchup 2017 runs quite well.
But neither "Print Preview" nor "Print" does work.
When clicking "OK" on the print popup screen, nothing happens.
When clicking "Properties" - same thing.

Text corruptions in the Paint.NET 2.5 EULA
The EULA for Paint.NET is garbled and partially unreadable when using it with
mono26. It looks like the text is jumbled together and running off the screen.
Seen in Paint.NET versions 3.5.4, 3.31, and 2.5. This doesn't occur in the
latter two if dotnet20 is used instead.
Terminal output varies by version, but 2.5 produces none up to this point, and
the others don't produce any new output at this point.

Two .mc Files, BOM.mc with a proper UTF-16LE BOM, and NOBOM.mc with no UTF-16LE
BOM.
Tested on both wine-staging and wine-vanilla on WINEARCH=win64 using VS-16.5
(and the latest installed though the script VS-16.7) though I suspect this
isn't a program exclusive bug.
When building reactos using msvc on linux, I ran into this bug when building
the .mc files. They are not generated with a UTF-16LE BOM, which Wine does not
properly handle and will fail compilation.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download and install VS-16 using https://github.com/mstorsjo/msvc-wine
Sidenote: You may install VS-16 however you like, we just need mc.exe for this.
The script may give socket timeout errors, that's normal. Just retry. You will
also need msiextract and libgcab to run the script.
2. Using "kits/10/bin/10.0.18362.0/x86/mc.exe -u" or
"kits/10/bin/10.0.18362.0/x64/mc.exe -u" compile the attached BOM.mc and
observe no errors.
3. Using the same programs, observe compiling NOBOM.mc and seeing the error:

Return zero when NaN is found while parsing floats
Star Citizen PTU Version 3.8.0 is attempting to read float values from data
files that contain the text "nan". The current scanf.h implementation does not
consider NaNs. This prevents this version of Star Citizen from launching when
run under wine. This version does launch under windows with the same account.
I have tested a patch that returns zero when a NaN is encountered, which allows
this version of Star Citizen to launch.
There are several considerations to be addressed in this patch:
1 - it is not locale friendly;
2 - it updates the parse pointer as it checks for the text NAN, whcih means a
failure will return an incorreclty update pointer; and
3 - it returns zero when NAN is encountered rather than NAN as returning NAN
still breaks this version of Star Citizen.
I am keen to work up a more appropriate patch, however I need guidance
regarding the decision to return zero (rather than NaN - zero works for me but
might be bad), and how to look-ahead when checking for "NaN" without updating
the parse pointer.

Running Foxit 7.0.3.916 in Wine on Xubuntu or Mint; When adding annotations to

The problem described in #10229 reappears with version 5.15 of wine:
Cross-Platform Network Multiplayer with Serious Sam Classic (First or Second
Encounter) is not possible. After some time all clients, which run on a
different platform, desync.
I suspect the commit 8034d4179c88ae9176ecaae210c30e40084ae29c is responsible.
To test this, it is best to start a dedicated server on a windows machine with
the "DemoCoop" profile of The First Encounter and then try to connect from
Serious Sam started under wine.
The connection fails instantly with "CRC error in DIFF!".
Tested with 784cb2060ab63076adc349dcb1d15a6cb5eb2bc4 (master) on Arch Linux
x86-64.
If using version 5.14 everything works as expected.

The Paint.NET installer fails with mono installed (via winetricks mono26).
The current blocking issue is the lack of ngen.exe. I sent a patch for that:

After that, it apparently fails due to a FileNotFound error, which I suspect is
caused by a program's inability to detect its own path. We should switch
mscoree.dll to using the mono embedding api rather than calling mono.exe, so
that the GetCommandLine and GetModuleFileName(0) point to the program being
executed.

Towards the end of James Camerons AVATAR The Game Demo installation, It
installs the VC Runtime Library. At this point an error pops up stating:
R6034: An application has made an attempt to load the C Runtime library
incorrectly.
It does not effect the game and you are able to run it despite this error. To
get the message to not appear during install doing: winetricks vcrun2005 does
the trick.

In my Windows console program, I'm using system("CLS") to clear the screen.
Unfortunately, when I try to run this program with wine, the screen doesn't
clear.

If you try to set some registers in OllyDbg while debugging an application,
it'll reset them to original values after single step. This must mean that its
write request has failed.
To reproduce:
1. Run OllyDbg (2.x)
2. File->Open, choose any PE file, e.g. Test.exe from OllyDbg distribution
3. Press space bar, assemble something like `dw 0xfeeb` to make sure no
registers are changed on single step
4. Try to change any of the following registers (others work correctly):
* ST2 or any other FPU data register
* FST
* FCW
* MXCSR
* data register tags via right clicking on "empty" and selecting "zero"
5. Single step (pressing F7)
6. See the changed registers return to original values, i.e. fail to actually
change

To reproduce
1. Launch OllyDbg (tested on 2.01)
2. Open an application, e.g. Test.exe coming in the OllyDbg distribution
3. After it loads, press <Space>, then in Assemble dialog type
dw 0xfeeb
and press <Enter> (or click Assemble button). This should assemble a `jmp short
<ModuleEntryPoint>` instruction.
4. Close Assemble dialog
5. Press F7 (shortcut for Step In)
6. See that right-bottom corner of the window (right-hand side of status bar)
has "Step in" text, which never switches back to Paused.
This result is wrong: the Step In action should set TF in EFLAGS, so that next
pass of control to debuggee will trap after executing one instruction. In
Windows XP OllyDbg gets control back immediately after pressing F7, while in
Wine this never happens at all with `jmp short $` instruction unless EIP
changes.
The same happens if instead of `EB FE` instruction you use `E9 FB FF FF FF`,
which is `jmp near $`.
Note that if you press F7 before step 3, everything works as expected.

away.

Corrupt UI in Wine 1.5.6
In Wine 1.5.6 the SlingPlayer UI appears broken (see attached screenshot).
Problem not present in Wine 1.4. This is a regression.

gdiplus: Rewrite SOFTWARE_GdipFillRegion to call brush_fill_pixels less.
Reverting this commit fixes the problem.
Workaround is native gdiplus.
The only relevant output with built-in gdiplus is:

SlingPlayer 1.5.1 crashes around 98% of the time with an assertion failure, 1%
of the time with a page fault, and 1% of the time it loads, but crashes later
in a similar manner. The attached log shows an assertion failure, though the
debugger doesn't run.

wined3d: Try to detect the polygon offset scale value.
FEAR draws the same geometry twice, the second time using zfunc=equal.
In both cases it sets a huge depth bias of -0.5, presumably to get
better precision for the fragile Z comparison. The GL polygon offset we
set ends up being so large that it pulls the geometry into the negative
Z range. It isn't clipped (or no longer, older NV drivers probably had a
separate bug there), but the Z value gets clamped to 0.0 in the first
draw and doesn't match the incoming Z in the second draw.
This commit cannot be automatically reverted in latest git.
No known workaround.
The crash is avoided by running it under Valgrind.
Optional native gdiplus to work around Bug 30899.

steamwebhelper.exe crashes on wine staging 2.21 but not vanilla wine because
querying FileNameInformation on a named pipe has been implemented. If
NtQueryInformationFile is called after CreateFileW has been called on the named
pipe (Which is what happens in the case of steamwebhelper.exe) Then it will
return STATUS_BAD_DEVICE_TYPE which is unexpected and the process crashes. This
is different to Windows 7 in which the call will succeed and the information
will be returned.

When a job completes WineSendLog sends an email to the developer who submitted
it. This email contains every log and test report. When the patch causes a full
recompilation of Wine the resulting email can be pretty big: more than 10 MB
(before base64 encoding).
We could compress the logs which may make the attachments a bit less practical
to read. We could also may skip the build logs if the build was sucessful, but
the test reports could be big too.
And all this information is available from the TestBot's Job Details page
anyway. So is it really necessary to email it? Wouldn't it be sufficient to
just have a link to the Job Details page and a summary of the result like in
the email sent to wine-devel?

The TestBot used to have a 'live screenshot' feature. This feature had to be
disabled due to Libvirt/QEmu issues and because it required the TestBot server
to make a long blocking call.
It would be nice to bring back this feature in some form.
However it may be even better to bring it in a different form and simply take
screenshots every 10 or 30 seconds and timestamp them. For a lot of tests the
screenshots are likely to all be identical so this could be used for
deduplication so that the storage footprint would not be too large. Then the
JobDetails.pl page would allow the user to browse through the screenshots for
each test run (making this nice would likely require some JavaScript).
>From a technical standpoint an advantage of taking regular screenshots is that
it would not involve the web server. Instead it would happen in a separate
thread or a fork of WineRunTask.pl (see TakeScreenshot()). So this would
side-step the blocking call issue.
>From a developer point of view, all long-running tests would have multiple
screenshots, even after they are completed (which is not the case for 'live
screenshots').

The TestBot detects patchsets from the n/N pattern in the subject and then
matches the different parts together based on the From email address and the
total number of parts. This means if the TestBot receives the parts of two
patchsets with the same number of parts and from the same developer at the same
time it is likely to mix elements of the two patchsets, and thus fail to test
them.
However it is customary for patches in a series to all reference the first
email in the patch series through the In-Reply-To and Message-ID fields. This
could be used to resolve ambiguities in such a case.
However we may not want to use this as the sole way to attach parts to the
patchset in case setting In-Reply-To is not possible for some reason.

The Special Jobs page allows creating one 32-bit and one 64-bit WineTest job at
a time. That's usually ok but it becomes cumbersome when one wants to trigger a
WineTest run on all the locale and multi-screen snapshots of a given VM after a
configuration change.
So it would be nice to modify the page to present the VM configurations a bit
like the Submit Jobs page does.
An improvement may be to present one column for each of the reconfig, win32,
wow32 and wow64 configurations, as applicable to the VM on that line so one can
select the precise mix of jobs to run. The could also be an extra column as a
shortcut to select all the options on the line in one go.
Then rather than creating one job per WineTest run it could also create just
one for reconfigs, one for 32-bit WineTest, etc.

A lot of Windows VM configurations have the following:
Role=base|winetest
Missions=exe64
MissionCaps=exe32
These VMs typically mirror a base VM for which we already run both 32- and
64-bit WineTest daily. Since these configurations typically only differ in the
locale, running both bitnesses again would be redundant. So the above results
in only the 64-bit WineTest being run, but still allows developers to submit
32-bit jobs if desired (e.g. if they want to run a 32-bit binary).
But this configuration throws the "Special Jobs" page off and causes it to
create an empty job when trying to run the 32-bit WineTest.
It should really see that MissionCaps allows running 32-bit tests. However the
issue comes from the shared AddWindowsTestJob() function: it should take
MissionCaps into account without changing the behavior of
CheckForWinetestUpdate.pl.

When a test crashes Windows in a VM we get typically get an error like this:
channel 2: open failed: connect failed: Connection refused
channel 2: open failed: connect failed: Connection refused

An error occurred while waiting for the test to complete: network read got a
premature EOF (wait2/connect:AgentVersion.h:0/9)
The test VM has crashed, rebooted or lost connectivity (or the TestAgent server
died)
The previous 2 run(s) terminated abnormally
Nowadays most VMs autologin and autostart the TestAgent server with the
--show-restarts option. What this does is pop up a dialog saying:
TestAgentd.exe was restarted (2). Did Windows reboot?
This is a telltale sign that Windows indeed rebooted (or that the TestBot
administrator incorrectly set up the VM but then you'd see that dialog in all
screenshots of that VM).
The way this works is that when given the --show-restarts option the TestAgent
server increases a persistent counter every time it starts. Normally the
TestBot administrator will have reset that counter so it will be set to one
such that a reboot will push it to 2 prompting this dialog.
What's interesting is that this counter is accessible from the client with
getproperties("start.counter"). So the WineRun*.pl script can know if the VM
was indeed rebooted.
But from the log above we also notice that they don't leave enough time for the
VM to reboot and thus fail to reestablish the connection to the TestAgent
server. This could be solved by adding a call to
SetConnectionTimeout(,,$WaitForBoot) in the strategic places.
Then in most cases the WineRun*.pl scripts could conclusively say that Windows
crashed and rebooted.

Weirdo window snapping/jumping when clicking tabs
I use wine pretty much solely for MyLifeOrganzed. That app is portable, and the
executable ran fine on my Ubuntu 20.4.
Now I've installed Mint 20.1, then wine 6, then ran the same MLO executable
again. Something bizarre happens: when I click on a tab in the app, its window
moves to a specific position and size. If I move or resize the window and click
one of the tabs, it moves back to that position. If I click elsewhere, this odd
behavior doesn't happen.
1. Download from https://www.mylifeorganized.net/todo-list-windows.shtml and
install
2. Launch the application. There should be two tabs at the top - "Outline" and
"To-Do".
3. Click among them while moving the window around.
I've run `sudo apt install --install-recommends winehq-devel`, but `wine
--version` still outputs `wine-6.0` just like stable. I can't really tell if
Devel is in effect.

Hello,
Stasis Bone Totem demo is available for free on GoG.
The issue is quick to reproduce, after to launch a new party, there is the 1st
intro video. The best to check if the video works is to enable the subtitles in
the game's option.
And this one is completely broken, black screen, no sound and no subtitles.
When the video begin, there is this error in the output console :

There is two solutions, one is broken, the other works completely.
Solution 1 : without openh264 gst plugin
1- Install mfplat from z0z0z github, result = Video work but sound is very bad
(crackly)
2- Install Quartz from winetricks fix the previous problem and the game is
fully playable.
Workaround #2 : with openh264 gst plugin
result = video run but black screen. Sound is correct.
Install quartz from winetrick : same result than previously, video run but
black screen + sound
Install mfplat from z0z0z github has no effect here
With both workaround, there are spam message about quartz :

Since some games run poorly with wined3d implementation of DX7, or don't run at
all, I've tried using a compatibility wrapper called dgvoodoo that translates
DX1-8 and Glide APIs into DX11. It's quite commonly used with games that get
distributed by GOG apparently, btw.
However, I am experiencing some severe graphical artifacts when using it with
wined3d's dx11. Here are some screenshots https://imgur.com/a/IhUc9mz
The game I am testing it with (The Sims, DX7) runs completely fine with it when
used under native DX11 in Windows and even with DXVK, so it's not an issue with
dgvoodoo.
I am attaching terminal output with no additional debug flags, however, if it's
needed, just request it.

If I try to enable dynamic rendering in S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Shadow of Chernobyl
(any of two dynamic options), the game even won't to start. This is what I get
in the terminal (all messages after starting):

The last line repeats every minute and all I can do is to kill it.
When using static lightning, sometimes (every 4th-5th run) STALKER locks up on
"Exit to windows". This is the error I get on terminal when that happens:
err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x7bcd2240 "rtl.c: peb_lock" wait
timed out in thread 0028, blocked by 0009, retrying (60 sec)
It looks similar to prevous last line.
I'm running updated Ubuntu 14.04 64bit, using wine from wine team ppa (1.7.31),
and game is installed in fresh win32 prefix. Game was bought on GOG, version is
1.0006, installer is setup_stalker_shoc_2.1.0.7. The graphic card is Radeon
7950, with Catalyst 14.20.
I'll gladly try to answer questions/try stuff to make this work.

I was working on a modification to Wine Notepad, and ran into the following
oddity when trying to test my changes:
`wine ./notepad.exe` does not run the correct executable. Instead of the newly
built executable in the current directory, it ran
`$WINEPREFIX/windows/notepad.exe` instead.
Even when specifying the absolute path, `$PWD/notepad.exe`, it still ran the
wrong one.
The only way to run the correct executable was to rename it.
Furthermore, I observed the following:
$ wine ./notepad.exe
<wrong notepad opens>
$ rm ./notepad.exe
$ wine ./notepad.exe
wine: cannot find L"./notepad.exe"

The log.
Borland ilink32 version 5.66 runs properly in wine v1.0.1 in Debian squeeze. It
crashes in wine v1.4.1 in Debian wheezy.
Comments on the attached log:
File O:\prog.tds is not locked by any other programs including IDE. Deleting
this file before running ilink32.exe does not fix the problem.
If I remember correctly, the following two messages did not occurred to wine
v1.0.1:

Konsole Output
I just installed Garuda Linux and have it completely setup. The only issue I'm
running into is trying to install SolSuite. It get to the point of creating the
virtual machine and just spins. I know the issue is Wine itself cause I had
Garuda installed awhile back and had the same issue till I rolled back to a
previous version of Wine. I attempted the same this time, removing the current
Wine-Staging and installing Wine 5.14. This time however even after doing this
I cannot install SolSuite. I launched PlayOnLinux from the terminal and I've
attached the output below.

I have played osu for about 2 or 3 months on arch linux x86_64, no problem
whatsoever. Stopped for a while. Swapped gpus twice since then (R7 265 to GTX
1080 and vice versa). At first I thought it's a .NET problem (obviously) but I
tried installing dotnet40, dotnet45. No results. After that I thought a new
prefix would fix the problem. Nope. A new osu! installation? Experienced this
bug: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44184
. Nope. After that I thought it may be something with the gpu drivers. Tried
the open source nvidia and the proprietary, same for amd. No luck so far. So I
decided that it's some global wine/gpu config (since it does the same when I
run everything as root) that I cannot find, so I made a quick reinstallation
(keeping my home folder) and still nothing. I am left to think that it's a new
dx9/dx11 related problem. I tried adding d3d11 and d3dx11_* as libraries and
disabling them, still no clue what is happening. As I understand from the
osu!installer log wine doesn't seem to be able to parse .NET, but Hearthstone
(Unity .NET game) works fine?? Everything I described here is tried on
wine-staging 2.21 and wine3.0-rc1 through rc6 and the official release. Spent
quite a few hours trying to debug this.

Just as I am writing this. I just tried the bugfix (again) with creating an
empty discord-rpc.dll on wine 3.0.0 and it worked. I would call this undefined
behaviour since I tried it twice already.

After updating to Wine 5.22 last night, two issues were encountered:
- Lutris came up with a warning stating esync wasn't compatible with this
release
- Even though the Battle.net launcher works flawlessly (IE on-par with 5.21),
after clicking play,Wow will half load to the point right before displaying a
black screen before the main menu, but fails to proceed any further and
required a force quit to exit it.
Provided is a log from Wine 5.21 and Wine 5.22, but I can provide any
additional info needed:

On Android "wine_get_host_version" in ntdll.dll contains "Linux" as host system
name. It is adequate to have on Android for the host system name "Android" in

At the tutorial mission you cannot open the door that needs to be lockpicked,
the lockpicking is not working.
I remember this did work in wine 1.8.

I'm trying to use microsoft compiler along with cmake (vc2010express+cmake from
winetricks) and it hangs configuring an hello world project.
It succeeds the second time the build is run, or as long as the wineserver
process is alive, ie if killed, it will fail another time.

wine startup failure
After updating Fedora 32, wine has stopped working entirely.
I uninstalled wine and reinstalled it fresh, and it's just not getting started.
It complains that it can't open a window!

Since League of Legends Patch 10.13, and probably simultaneous Change of The
Riot Client, the "Play" Button in the LoL Client (League Client != Riot Client)
is Grayed out with the Message that the there are issues contacting "some
league servers" and to contact Riot Support with error 9S, however under
Windows on the same Region this issue does not exist.
Steps to Reproduce: Install League of Legends and Log In
The League Specific patches are not necessary to reproduce the bug since they
are needed to load into game and this issue is already in client. The Bug is
also Reproducable in Staging 5.10, however wine staging > 5.9 is currently
known not to work with league: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49373
A temporary fix is the deletion of All Files Pertaining to the Riot Client
(drive_c/Riot Games/Riot Client/*), however this does seems not to work for
everyone and disables the friend list.

The game defaults to fullscreen but it doesn't work properly and instead
displays two instances of the game running simultaneously. Pressing F4 switches
to windowed mode and it then works OK. Pressing F4 again makes the display
disappear off the screen.
This happens with both Nvidia and AMD.
Can't see any obvious errors.
Sorry, can't run regression test.
