Summary: Wine hangs during wineboot --init if Virtual Desktop
mode is enabled on a VM with virgl enabled.

VM spice window after 4-5 minutes post prefix launch.
Creating a fresh wine prefix works, but the second that Virtual Desktop mode is
enabled for the prefix, (Either by winecfg or through manually creating the
needed registry keys.) wine will fail to start the prefix. Only creating the
Wine Desktop window before hanging indefinitely.
During the hang, wineboot.exe --init never exits and killing it has no effect.
The requested application may or may not have a process created for it. If it
does, it's not actually doing anything and killing it has no effect on the
hang.
conhost.exe may or may not exist as well. If it does, killing it is required to
get wine to exit.
After about 4-5 minutes, (on my hardware at least), wine echos to the console
that it failed to load libvulkan.so.1, and the hang continues.
This affects all applications wine tries to start in the prefix including
winecfg. Which means the only way to recover the prefix at that point is to
manually delete the registry keys from user.reg via a text editor. Doing so
restores the prefix to a working state.

When starting the program, a message is shown that MSXML is not available or
too old. With Wine 8.16 this could be solved with 'winetricks msxml6'. With
Wine 8.17, this no longer works, the same message is displayed.
What may also apply is that the program detects that it is running with Wine.

wine 'Jagex Launcher Installer.exe'
I'm on gentoo linux.
Currently running wine-proton-8.0.2c on the Jagex Launcher InstallShield.
There are a log of messages (see attachment) but they don't seem to be errors.
wine does not abort, it sit there, and eventually puts out timeout type
messages, which suggests it thinks it is displaying the install window, but no
window is visible.
I'm stumped on how to proceed to find what is wrong.

Hoyoplay launcher has window decorations and this prevents the X button in the
launcher from being visible. It does not prevent the user from closing the
launcher using the X button in the window decoration so this bug is purely
visual. The launcher should not have any window decorations and so the x button
in the launcher itself should be visible.
To reproduce go to to https://zenless.hoyoverse.com/en-us/ and click on
download which will download an installer for the launcher, then run the
installer, and open the launcher which will be installed successfully.

Anytime a wine process starts, Xorg will freeze for upwards of a minute. Audio
still plays, and the mouse cursor still moves. Xorg.0.log shows that
resolutions keep getting probed at the exact moment wine starts, this also has
the effect of the Xorg log file becoming absolutely massive.
This might have to do with the Xorg Modesetting driver, as the intel xorg
driver does not work with Arc.

When opening Whatismybrowser.com in Wine explore, it says I a running "Internet

The UA String confirms this:
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; Trident/7.0; .NET CLR
2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E)
The string "Windows NT 6.2" is equivalent to Win8.
I'm running it in a default Wine prefix which is set to Windows 10 by default.
Since this seems to be hardcoded (not actually detected), I suggest a simple
cosmetic change to change of the UA String to say "Windows NT 10.0", which is
what shows up when a browser is run under Win10.
Earlier versions of Windows 10 actually did still have Internet Explorer, so it
is not an impossible situation.

shell32: Rely solely on SHELL_FindExecutable for ShellExecute.
This does two things:
1. ShellExecute no longer searches in the directory where the current
executable is in.
2. We always CreateProcess with a fully qualified path, so we CreateProcess
won't do its own path
resolution.
Serendipitously this also fixes some existing todos in tests.
Nothing is printed in the console.
Reverting this commit in current git resolves the issue.

And an error dialog pops up that says "Failed to install InpOut32 driver."
After closing the pop-up, the installation appears to finish successfully.
When running the application, a similar message appears in the terminal:

L"\\Registry\\Machine\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\inpoutx64":
c0000142
And an error dialog pops up that says "Inpout32.dll was found, but the driver
is not installed." Then the application closes.
The registry value HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\inpoutx64\ImagePath
is "System32\Drivers\inpoutx64.sys" on both Windows and Wine. If I change it to
"C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\inpoutx64.sys" on Wine, the application starts
without error. So this seems to be a problem with locating the driver, not a
problem with the driver itself.

WINEDEBUG=+cmd (bad)
CMake.exe can no longer find the toolchain. This is a regression introduced by
f21744527e300ed897a4776c013390e25cf6b218. Reverting the commit fixes the
problem. Deleting the lines
for (pos = firstModifier; pos < lastModifier; pos++)
*pos = towlower(*pos);
is also sufficient.

Backtrace provided by wine's GUI
PokerTracker 4 crashes on startup.
It used to work, cf my report on AppDB. Hopefully the backtrace will help.
I have a "feeling" it might be related to edge webview: the app has a web view
of their website on the welcome screen, which never worked (but it would not
crash the app before). I don't really have any more than my gut feeling to
support that though.

commit 85d029e3b01f6dd35a86cc07796af982d66e4a03

shell32: Rely solely on SHELL_FindExecutable for ShellExecute.
This does two things:
1. ShellExecute no longer searches in the directory where the current
executable is in.
2. We always CreateProcess with a fully qualified path, so we CreateProcess
won't do its own path
resolution.
Serendipitously this also fixes some existing todos in tests.
