Hi All,
In Lotus Approach, if you use the internal windows control (the low set of
caption buttons) to minimize a single database, it will appear as an icon in
the lower right of Approach's window. If you double click on the icon to
maximize the window again, you get "About Wine 1.1.20" (and no maximized
window)
Many thanks,

After upgrading wine to 10.9 Meta Trader 4 still does not start.
But with this wine version it seams to be not the same issue as under wine 10.3
to 10.7 (described in https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58011 and
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_ug.cgi?id=57950 ).
This time there in no error message window (as it was under wine 10.3 to 10.7)
and a try to start MT4 in the linux terminal generates other error (not the
same as previously) as shown below:
https://pastebin.com/kBLVS6G8
Downgrading to wine 10.2-2 temporary solves the issue (MT4 starts, at least
under Manjaro Linux, with Windows 11 set in wine settings).

Hi guys.
I'm trying to use Yousician on Linux and it works amazingly well, maybe even
smoother than on W11, but there is one small problem: It's impossible to
preform latency calibration as the app is checking global system volume, if
it's too high, it disallows calibration to prevent hearing damage if the sounds
it produces are too loud.
On wine and wine-staging the volume in Yousician is always 100%. I use
pipewire-pulse backend and plasma-pa, I'm changing volume from plasma settings
or alsamixer, or pulsemixer but it stays 100% in Yousician.
Hope there's an easy fix for it :).
Regards,
W.

Towards the end of the above thread I posted terminal output as well as
screenshots. Disabling Windows Firewall, as well as deleting the
inbound/outbound rules in Windows, deactivates my license. Re-enabling the
rules and Windows Firewall reactivates my license. Since this functionality
doesn't exist in Wine, Wine hasn't to my knowledge implemented Windows Native
Firewall Rules, it's impossible to register/activate my legally purchased
license in Wine.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
***Please note, the above applies only to a FULL license of Lightwave. The
trial, which is node-locked, works as designed. Unfortunately, the FULL license
is not node-locked.

This is a heads-up about a bug in cygwin/msys2 which may be misreported as a
wine bug.
The Cygwin code assumes CPUID leaf 0x0d to indicate in EBX a 64-byte-aligned
value. That may or may not be true on current Windows systems, but on current
Linux systems running Wine, with recent CPUs, a CPU feature called "PKU" or
"PKRU" (memory protection keys for userspace), enabled by default, indicates an
additional 8-byte XSAVE area.
This makes the Cygwin code attempt to xsave to a non-64-byte aligned area,
which causes a segfault and abnormal program termination.
While this is clearly a bug, it's a bug that apparently cannot be triggered by
current Windows systems. This means Wine fails to be bug-for-bug compatible in
this case. I don't think there's an easy way around that: we'd have to trap
XGETBV and CPUID instructions to pretend that a feature that is enabled by
Linux actually isn't available.
It would have been nice if the Linux kernel had provided a way to disable the
pku feature on a per-process basis, but AFAICT, it didn't. The nopku kernel
command line argument makes things work, but requires a reboot and disables the
very useful PKU feature for the entire system.
So I don't think there's a good workaround here, but maybe we should suggest to
the Linux kernel people to allow per-process activation of any future XCR0
features?

When using yabridge to run Windows VST plugins in a native Linux DAW (in my

The window is interactable (grabs the cursor, can change settings, etc), but
dragging it, closing and re-opening, etc. does not work. In the logs, the

since using a build of Wine 10 without WOW64 works fine.

I am the original reporter.
Diablo 1 did not work for me anytime I tested it during these years (which
occurred like dozen of times – it wasn't continuous process). Other users
reported the same.
If you're are lucky to have working setups, please report the distro and the
Wine versions + the GPU model you run your X11 on here.
In 2003 the implementation was called XFree86, circa since 2004 it's Xorg. I
guess there might have been some regression namely due to this change. So I'd
say let's skip the 2003 setup for now.
And please stop the noise (flooding), and let's get technical. :)

The strings in the Wine code are a confusing mix of British
(International/Commonwealth) English and US English.
Why does this matter?
Each variant of English has its own rules around the spelling of certain words.
colour/color
cancelled/canceled
moveable/moveable
and so on...
As there is no standard, each dialect of English will need its own translation
file (.po).
If there is standard usage of one or the other (US or British) then fewer
translations are needed, as Wine will simply default back to that standard
English (SUBLANG_NEUTRAL or SUBLANG_DEFAULT?)
Examples:
#: dlls/mferror/mferror.mc:473
msgid "Media format was recognized but is invalid.\n"
(US English)
#: programs/reg/reg.rc:131
msgid "reg: The registry operation was cancelled\n"
(British English)
I spoke with someone a few years back (I'm pretty sure it was Alexandre) on IRC
(Freenode) but those logs are long gone, or very hard to find. From what I
recall the "standard English" chosen was British. This makes sense as en_US.po
exists for the US English translations.
I am happy to make the necessary changes to standardise the use of English, but
I just want to be 100% sure which standard we are now using, as it may have
changed since I last asked.
Note that some dialects need their own .po files anyway because they really are
a confusing mix of British and US.
It seems like Windows defaults to US English. However, US English is only used
by the US and the Philippines, so it would require significantly less effort to
default to British English.
This confusing table gives a hint of the scope:

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58528
Bug ID: 58528
Summary: CRYPT_AcquirePrivateKeyFromProvInfo does not check
machine store for private key
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: crypt32
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: katharina(a)hacked.xyz
Distribution: ---
When adding a Certificate via PFXImportCertStore with CRYPT_MACHINE_KEYSET, a
subsequent call to CryptAcquireCertificatePrivateKey fails to find the added
private key.
This is due to CRYPT_AcquirePrivateKeyFromProvInfo issuing a
CryptAcquireContextA call without specifying a keyset; thus always defaulting
to CRYPT_USER_KEYSET.
Minimal reproducer: https://gitlab.winehq.org/-/snippets/26
Thanks to Hans Leidekker for additional support in IRC.
This affects the Iis extension from WiX-built MSI installers, i.e. a lot of
real-world apps. Real-World breaking app is the installer for the 3DExperience
Launcher.

Summary: Microsoft Office 365 login page for activating Office
is blank

Created attachment 68692

Screenshot of the blank login window
I have a Office 365 subscription. I visited https://www.office.com/ After
logging into that page, I am then allowed to download the OfficeInstaller.exe.
Selecting and downloading the installation file beforehand ensures that the
Office installation is bound to the account during installation. The Office
products Excel, PowerPoint etc. are activated accordingly. Within the menus,
however, it is noticeable that you are apparently not logged in after all. The
button Log in appears where the name of the account should actually be. If the
subscription expires, the Office installation notices it. Hints appear that you
should use the subscription (activate it) again. If the subscription was
renewed from the Office.com site, the Office installation will not notice it.
If I open Excel, for example, I now have three options: Login, Buy, Enter key.
If I choose Login, a window opens where I can enter my e-mail address on a
Microsoft page. After entering it I should get to the next menu item where I
can enter my password. But the window there is empty. It is simply white.
