Compilation log
I am trying to compile wine in shared WoW64 mode, and ran into the attached
error during compilation of the 64 bit binary.
I have to imagine, given the compilation error is an undeclared identifier,
that I am missing some headers. However, I'm not sure what exactly I am
missing.
I have packages spirv-headers-devel, vulkan-headers, and libvkd3d-devel
installed at their latest versions from Fedora.
For reference, I'm on Fedora 42 kernel 6.15.3.
I must be making a simple mistake, right? If someone could give me a hand, I'd
greatly appreciate it.

Calling _wfsopen with _SH_SECURE sharing flag result in failure and
"012c:err:msvcrt:_wsopen_dispatch Unhandled shflags 0x80" error in the
terminal.
0x80 value correspond to _SH_SECURE
Discovered while debugging Godot Engine -
https://github.com/godotengine/godot/pull/106392
Seems like the case for this flag is missing:
https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/blob/master/dlls/msvcrt/file.c?ref_ty…
The flag is documented as "shared read, exclusive write access"
(https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/c-runtime-library/sharing-constants?v…),
and the issue can be worked around by substituting it with "(mode_flags ==
READ) ? _SH_DENYWR : _SH_DENYRW", which result in the same behavior as on
Windows (at least in our use case).

Cloudflare stops me from attaching patches to bug reports unless I compress
them in a format that Cloudflare won't check.
It also blocks me if I paste some code into the comments. Seems to get upset
with C and PHP. I haven't tested much else but it's pretty obviously not
desirable behaviour for a Bugzilla. Been happening for a while, probably
anti-spam, anti-bot protection.

default decorations
When running applications through Wine using the native Wayland driver,
windowed applications are not receiving proper window decorations (e.g.,
titlebars, borders) from the system window manager. Instead, Wine's default,
minimal, and visually unappealing decorations are displayed.
I have enabled option "Allow the window manager to decorate the windows" in
winecfg and it's working fine on Xwayland. But this option does not appear to
have any effect under native Wayland.

Display enumeration in winewayland driver.
Enumeration of displays in winewayland driver differs from winex11 and doesn't
even follow order of reported wl_outputs.
I have 3 displays: with middle one (1440p, primary) being the first display. My
other displays are 1080p. In winex11 it's indeed the first, and it also
reported as first wl_output by my compositor (KWin). But winewayland driver
reports it the second and the leftmost display reported as the first.
It causes problem in old games that don't have display selection and enumerate
video modes only for primary (first) display, so I can't get resolution higher
than 1080p on my 1440p display that is supposed to be primary.
Although we don't have a way to determine primary screen on Wayland we can at
least follow order of reported wl_outputs. Here is what my compositor is
reporting and it doesn't correlate with order of winewayland driver.

Example
Starting from Wine version 9.0, the waiting cursor no longer appears when
attempting to set it to indicate a long-running operation in MFC applications
or other programs. The issue appears to have started after the commit on June
13, 2023.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run the attached simple MFC application.
2. Click the button "Start Long Operation"
Expected Result:
The waiting cursor should appear for the duration of the 3-second sleep.
Actual Result:
The waiting cursor does not appear during the Sleep call. The cursor remains
the default arrow.
Example Application:
The example application has been attached. It uses the most basic
implementation of the CWaitCursor class, as described in the official Microsoft
documentation:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/mfc/reference/cwaitcursor-class?view=…
Regression Commit:
The issue seems to have started with the commits made on June 13, 2023:

Summary: entering sub-menus makes entire menu vanish behind

When any menu is opened, such as "File ...", and then a nested sub-menu with
more menu options such as "New from template ..." is hovered (not clicked) with
the mouse to open it, the entire menu with sub-menu is suddenly rendered behind
the main window (z-index issue?).
Consequently the user can no longer open files and can no longer access a lot
of important menus in a lot of the DAWs functions, such as music sheet editor,
pattern editor, etc.
In Wine 8.1 this bug does not occur, and must have been introduced somewhen
after (my guess is version 9).
Please note that this issue does NOT relate to X11, because it happens with
"Emulate a virtual desktop" checked.
I tried many things to work around it, including monkey-patching Wine 10.11
source, but everything is unsuccessful. Please note due to issues with VSTs, FL
Studio needs very specific combos of NOT using DXVK, and not overriding
d3dcompiler_47 or dxgi with winetricks. But even if used it makes no
difference. There are NO OPTIONS in FL Studio that prevent this bug (such as
unchecking ultrasmooth mode or disabling window animations). Only regressing to
8.1 fixes the bug.
In the logs you will see two "TQuickPopupMenuWindow" being opened. The first is
the menu, the second is the sub-menu.
Many versions of FL Studio and Wine are affected by this. At least since FL 20
and Wine 9.
Sadly because of changes in Juce (used by many VSTs), a lot of new and critical
VST plugins now do require a very recent Wine version. Thus falling back to
Wine 8.1 is no longer viable.

- Press CTRL-K or click on icon Kontoutdrag.
- Click OK.
- Use mouse to set focus on entry field in lower right corner called "Fr o m"
- Press enter.

allocation stacks in parent and child bash.exe
This is a followup to bug 47808.
If I understand it right, bug 47808 was primarily about native libraries
getting called at a win32 stack which was not yet committed.
Those native libraries then jumped over the guard page, therefore the stack
got not grown, instead a crash reported.
This aspect was fixed by using the syscall interface and
therefore bug 47808 was closed.
But there is another issue that causes a msys2-forked process crashing,
because after the stack was grown it still misses the PAGE_READWRITE flags.
For this Zeb Figura included in the first attachement to bug 47808
"always expand the stack if within the stack reserve"
a line adding the flags "VPROT_COMMITTED | VPROT_READ | VPROT_WRITE"
to the page that gets the VPROT_GUARD removed in grow_thread_stack.
This modification still enables a forked process to run.
The issue can be reproduced with an unmodified wine by just
- running msys2 bash.exe interactively
- then trying to start e.g. notepad from it.
Attached file shows the stack when the stack gets allocated
- in a working msys2-parent process and
- in a failing msys2-forked child process.
Therefore it looks like the forked stack get really setup differently,
but it is still not clear if or when this memory gets the READ/WRITE
added in native windows.

Summary: Clang Static Analyzer: Division by zero

Version: 1.7.22
Hardware: x86-64

Clang Static Analyzer identifies Division by zero
File: dlls/winex11.drv/palette.c
Location: line 601, column 43
Description: Division by zero
#define NB_RESERVED_COLORS 20
...
static void X11DRV_PALETTE_FillDefaultColors(....)
{
...
int i = 0, idx = 0;
int red, no_r, inc_r;
...
if (palette_size <= NB_RESERVED_COLORS)
return;
while (i*i*i < (palette_size - NB_RESERVED_COLORS)) i++;
no_r = no_g = no_b = --i;
...
inc_r = (255 - NB_COLORCUBE_START_INDEX)/no_r;
//Clang: Division by zero
...
}
The code will continue executing if the palette_size variable is larger than or
equal to 21. With the value 21, the 'i' variable will be first incremented by
one and then decremented by one. As a result, the 'i' variable will remain
equal to zero, which will cause the division-by-zero error.

Bug #: 31212
Summary: Some VST instruments crash when reloaded in Mixcraft
Product: Wine
Version: 1.5.8
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: s_chriscollins(a)hotmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
In Mixcraft, some VST instruments crash when loaded a second time on a track.
However, the same instruments work fine when loaded for the first time on a
track. The following can be reproduced easily in Mixcraft:
1. Start Mixcraft and select "Build Virtual Instrument Tracks" from the "New
Project" window.
2. Click on the keyboard icon next to the first track name, which will bring up
the instrument selection window.
3. Select "<VSTi Instruments>" from the left pane and then "Messiah" from the
right pane. This sets the track to use the Messiah VSTi synth.
4. Now select "Acoustica Instruments" from the right pane.
5. Once again, select "Messiah" from the right pane. Mixcraft will pop up an
error box with the title "An instrument has crashed" containing the following
text: "A crash has been detected in the instrument "Messiah." This plug-in has
been muted. We recommend you save your project and re-start Mixcraft to avoid
losing your work."
Unfortunately, no helpful terminal output seems to be generated in relation to
the plugin crash. I have provided more detailed notes on VST behavior in
Mixcraft here:

Log of application launch before and after 10.9 update
After installing the latest version of Wine (10.9) on my Linux Mint virtual
machine, launching a windows game application no longer worked. Fortunately, I
had made a backup of my virtual machine image back in mid-May which had version
10.7, I was able to restore and reset my virtual machine and then walk through
the point where my game application no longer worked.
Once reset, I manually launched my game application from a terminal window and
the game worked fine. Next, I ran the Linux update manager and updated all
software components and operating system updates except for Wine 10.9. Once
those updates were done, I again manually launched my game application from a
terminal window and the game still worked fine.
I next then used the Linux update manager and applied the Wine 10.9 update.
After the update was completed, I once again manually launched my game
application from the terminal window. I briefly saw the dialog box indicating
my Wine configuration was being updated, and then the process ended without
starting the game application. I retried launching the application but again
the process ended.
I am attaching some log snippets that detail the successful launch of the game
application and subsequently the failure. What I did see in the logs that
might provide a clue was that after the update to Wine 10.9, file "libEGL.so.1"
could not be found. While awaiting an answer back, I am going to investigate
this clue.
Thank you in advance.

These failures happen in about 15% of the runs and in all of them the
environment variable was supposed to contain an accent.
This also explains why the failures:
* Are always about the GitLab environment variables: in our regular test
configurations environment variables don't contain accents.
* Only happen on the GitLab CI Windows test VM: this VM is the only one where
the environment variables change from one run to the next, mostly due to
CI_COMMIT_XXX.
* Always happen in both the 32- and 64-bit tests of a given build.

Regression SHA1: 260346a9160568004b9cb123608fb988c30623f1
Distribution: ArchLinux
This is a regression in Wine-10.10 caused by the commit that fixed bug #58064
for me:
commit 260346a9160568004b9cb123608fb988c30623f1
winex11: Remove old window drawable lookup and check.
If a surface has already been created, the window would have a pixel
format set already and the if above this would be taken already.
After starting Bejeweled 3, the game runs because I can hear the music, but the
screen remains black.
Occurs in virtual desktop and full-screen mode too.
Disabling CSMT works around the problem for me.
The game can be launched without Steam running.
