Both appliations are running find under wine-staging 7.3 on some Debian10 machines. When trying to install wine-staging on some Debian11 machines (either upgraded from Debian10, or installed Debian11 from scratch) and following the these instructions [1] of installing wine, wine fails to run, and switches into debug mode. I remember that a few weeks ago, I could make wine-staging (v7.1?) running on Debian11. But I can not reproduce this anymore. I'm suspecting that some dependencies on libraries have changed, or some dependencies are not correct in the debian/control file. Or that some some differences in the build environment and my setup is in place I tried checking finding differences in the packages installed, and fixed a number of difference, but there are too many. And I've not been successful so far. Do you have any ideas how to proceed and identify what the problem might be ? It does work if win7 is set. Unfortunately other important functions of the app break (e.g. updating) when win7 it set. This issue was initially discussed with a regression in bug 51853 (https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51853) however the regression was resolved so I'm opening a new issue. --Installation Guide-- The app is a bit like kindle in so much as the engine is free but the resources cost so there is a free download. Unlike kindle it has many advanced research features and books link together etc. The main app is free but there are paid features, resources and subscriptions. To use the app you need a free account https://www.logos.com/product/194909/logos-9-basic. It uses a downloader app which last I tried doesn't work with wine. The actual msi link is https://downloads.logoscdn.com/LBS9/Installer/9.15.0.0005/Logos-x64.msi Manual Install Procedure: 1 Install wine 6 or newer 2 winetricks corefonts 3 winetricks settings fontsmooth=rgb 4 winetricks dotnet48 5 winetricks settings renderer=gdi (you might need to set the reg key manually) 6 Install the Logos.msi download but don't run it. 7 wine64 reg add "HKCU\\Software\\Wine\\AppDefaults\\LogosIndexer.exe" /v Version /t REG_SZ /d vista /f 8 Run Logos and sign in with your free account. This happens both when using 64-bit and 32-bit prefixes. I've had three crashes that made the game quit suddenly and three which generated a backtrace, which I've added as attachment, all three with the same "page fault on write access on 32-bit code" error. In this specific case I couldn't reproduce the issue as long as libmpg123-0:i386 was installed. But I assume current Wine still generally needs them!? Please comment. Unless you have some other input, I'm going to fix this in the debian.org packages, and suggest you do something similar in the winehq -i386 and -amd64 packages: Recommends: gstreamer1.0-libav, gstreamer1.0-plugins-good, gstreamer1.0-plugins-ugly, This works on Debian unstable. gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad still has non multi-arch'd dependencies. I'll try to get those fixed. I assume some other distros don't support multi-arch for the previous 3 packages, so you might have to add this conditionally. This is definitely a wine-staging bug because the equivalent experiment with vanilla wine-2.10 (obtained by purging winehq-staging and installing winehq-devel) had no troubles with that install page of the GUI (although the above "apartment" warnings were produced), but failed in other ways on the final page of that GUI. Note it is likely this current wine-staging bug with the initial file installation has been introduced in the past year since <https://github.com/TeaCI/tea-ci/wiki/Msys2-on-Wine> implies MSYS2 works on Wine-staging, and that page was last updated in July last year. After 0d0f2067f89 [1], the FFXiPadConfig.exe crashes when Test Gamepad is executed, which is accessed either via 'FINAL FANTASY XI Config.exe' / Gamepad Config / Enable Gamepad / Test Gamepad, or more directly via 'FFXiPadConfig.exe'. Both are located under any of the 'Tools*' directories under the main 'FINAL FANTASY XI' install directory. Looking at the backtrace, I'm not sure if user32 or ntdll is the more correct component (neither of the debug channels produce anything obvious to me), and also not sure what is going on with all the internal errors and invalid addresses (built with 'CFLAGS="-g"). Happens with both, mingw and no-mingw builds.
